Hunter Fletcher and Zidal designs!

The main protagonists of my OCverse "Dead of Nyte" have gotten a design update from when I posted them ages ago :)

Some description/character stuff under the cut!

Hunter is the quarterback for the Ringbull Steelhorns, and the protective older brother of James Fletcher. Overall he acts as the high school's mediator, stopping fights between the student body when he sees them. Despite getting in the middle of fights and running the field, he never broke a bone in his life... at least not until one fateful night.

Zidal is a creature called a Nyte, one part of a whole colony that serves their queen. He runs the role of Protector, in which their job is to protect the colony and especially the Queen herself. After the old queen died and a new one took her place, Nytes have infested human life more recklessly and caused Exterminators to hunt them down. Zidal was sent out with other nytes to gather food when Exterminators showed up. Fatally wounded, Zidal ran off and jumped into the closest compatible human to regain his strength. Little did he know that he and the human would wound up in front of a moving vehicle.

This was the start of a peticular friendship between Human and Nyte.

what is everyone's powers??? Is there a character page that I'm unaware of?????

//Ah, unfortunately not dear Anon!! But worry bnot, I’ve been working on character sheets these past couple weeks, so I should have that up and running soon! For now, I’ll let you in on everyone’s powers my dear Nonnie.

Ember- Her powers are very complicated because I am an overachiever. To boil it down, she basically has the ability to create portals to other dimensions and realities; with the center of it all being the place she dubbed as the “Middleworld,” Which is kind of like this pocket in space, time, and reality where Ember can go and bring others with her if she so chooses! She can also put things into, bring things out of, or create new things from the MiddleWorld. The disadvantage to her powers is that she tires very easily, and is extremely susceptible to blacklash. There’s also the risk that she can get lost in the Middleworld, or overuse her abilities to the point it kills her. However if she’s careful, she can use the power of the middleworld to extend her life- No one knows for how long, though. She’s a natural Abit.

Side note- Blacklash is a concept I borrowed from Mercedes Lackey- Modified to fit the world, though. I think the idea of it came from somewhere else too, but I first heard of it in her books. The concept is that if you overuse your abilities/magic/gifts, whatever, you can be bedridden with migraines, sickness, ect. In my version, certain characters don’t get it at all, or are extremely sensitive to it- AKA Ember.

Side note #2: Although as they travel from country to country, they’ll be called different things, characters with abilities are called “Abits” in America. Their separated into two different categories- “Manifactured” abits and “Natural” abits. Natural Abits gain their abilities through a natural source. Most commonly it is genetically inherited, though rarely (as with James) natural disasters cause one to gain abilities as well. Manufactured Abits are ones that gain abilities from outside or human-caused sources- Most commonly scientific experimentation. (After character sheets I’ll be making a page on the world state, so that’ll come soon too.)

Toxa: Her abilities are semi-similar to Embers in that she also has her own little pocket of space-time that she can travel too, though hers is very different. Hers is called the shadow world, which also has a lot to do with her powers. She can control, create, manipulate, or bring to life shadows. She can also travel through shadows, becoming a shadow herself and entering that shadow world. She’s a natural Abit and she’s sensitive to blacklash.

Skye: Her abilities are super strength- There hasn’t yet been something a match for her strength, girl could probably arm wrestle a fucking giant and win- and self healing. Oh. And she’s also immortal. She’s tested the limits of this too (something she’d rather not discuss) and has discovered that even the deadliest of things won’t stop her. Now, that being said, she’s not impossible to beat. She can get knocked out, knocked down, or hurt so badly she can seem to “die” for weeks or even months as her body stitches itself back together. She’s a combination of manufactured and natural abit, and she can’t get blacklash.

Nyte: Nyte’s abilities revolve around a mystic sword and the wind. She’s fast, agile, and fucking deadly with a blade in her hands. She can manipulate the wind to her advantage, create tornados, fly, and crumble buildings with the force of her winds. Her weakness is the sword, as her life force has been tied with the sword. It’s destroyed, she dies. Until then, no one knows how long she’d be able to live. She’s a natural abit, not sensitive to blacklash but able to get it.

Angel: His powers are mainly defensive in nature, with healing, creating barriers, and even the ability to soothes ones mindstate, his powers are mostly benevolent- As long as he desires them to be. The exact opposite of Toxa, his powers fall into the manipulation of light, as well as healing. He's a natural abit.

Zach: Zach can control the flow of blood in a person or animals body. He can look inside you, and shut down organs or cut off bloodflow or just cause excruciating pain without lifting a finger. He can also return the blood flow to a persons body or restart an organ. He's a natural abit, semi sensitive to blacklash.

Leo: Leo is a shapeshifter, plain as that. He can change into anything he wants, as long as it's a living creature. Even mystical creatures work, though the forms are often unstable and hard for him to maintain. He's a natural abit.

Fallen: Fallen can control metal and steel, using the material for anything he desires. He usually fights with his hands or weapons if he's in close quarters with someone, but if he has the advantage of being distant from his opponent, his abilities are a lot more useful. Natural abit.

Cole: Cole does not have any abilities (as far as he knows) unless you count being incredibly skilled with technology and being able to learn things and observe things very fast.

Vincent: Vincent is a telepath and a telekinetic, though the latter is stronger then the former. He has a very easy time mindmelding, however, and has a very good grasp on his abilities. Natural abit.

Oli: Oli has ice powers- Exactly what it says on the tin. They can create ice out of thin air and use it their advantage. Natural abit.

Flare: Flare is the exact opposite of Oli with Fire powers- Though her dads didn't know this when they named her Flare, ironically enough. Natural abit.

Adrien/N701: Adrien is a cyborg, and as you can probably guess from that, also a manufactured abit. He has many skills- His right arm is completely cybernetic and can turn into any melee weapon, while his left is half cybernetic and can turn into any gun.

Axyl: Axyl has control over plants, foliage, and anything else related to such. His personal faviorates are vines, though. He's able to make those from anywhere. Natural Abit.

Grech: Grech is also a manufactured Abit. He grew up in the same lab as Adrien did- though he's no cyborg. He has hard, leathery wings, and two sets on either side of his body of claw like spikes that can rotate in any direction and can cling to any surface. He also has sharp claws with similar spines going up to his forearms.

James: James' abilities originate from one of those rare cases of natural disaster born abilities. He was struck by lightning- And went blind because of it. He also got power over electricity- He doesn't think it's a fair bargain.

Lots and lots of new pictures and mostly new characters...a few are just getting updates though so here goes: 

Clark Kent - Superman takes living in Metropolis very seriously and following the battle with Lex Luthor’s lab-created monstrosity and the untimely death of Batman/Bruce Wayne, Clark is doing his best to keep his head down both as his mild-mannered alter ego and as Superman himself. Especially considering most of Gotham city thinks he killed Batman, but in the coverup surrounding the creatures’ disappearance and the damaging of most of the city of Metropolis there was little that could be done to explain what happened to either of the heroes. Batman was the true hero of the night though no one really knows it. For his part, Clark is still reeling from the loss of Lois Lane when she tried to salvage the spear with Kryptonite...because Clark couldn’t touch it, he wasn’t able to rescue her in time. (there’s a lot more to this but it would take WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY too long to make sense out of it all) 

James Davis - James is actually an American living in Camden, London. He was originally part of an inside joke (with myself, it was a weird day for the voices in my head, don’t ask) but stuck around. While I know he actually doesn’t do anything with Tessa Moore, he first popped into my head leaning out of the door of his flat without a shirt on, all his tattoos there for everyone to see as a car came to pick Tess up, and he gives her a crooked grin, telling her to come down and see him again on better terms. 

Trevor Vaughn got a new picture

Damien “Darke” Nyte - Darke is one of my older characters that needed an upgrade. He’s an author of a series of psychological horror novels called the BlackWater series which focuses on the supernatural, surrealist murders/strange happenings occurring around the fictional town of Blackwater, even though it’s loosely based off of the French Quarter in New Orleans. He also runs a podcast called Dark Dreams where he talks about some of the things he’s seen either in his dreams or else he uses it as a sort of conspiracy theory testing ground. He started out on Youtube with videos in the St. Louis Cemetary 3, either investigating some of the people buried there or what he likes to call the “shamblers”, they’re basically zombies that haven’t managed to cross over yet. 

Darius Murphy - the patriarch of the Murphy family, I’m still working out everything about him but he is an exceedingly powerful warlock who can use other people as conduits to “power himself up” in order to use his magic, most of which can be harmless but if he’s in a mood, he can and will hurt people to get what he wants to know out of them. This can be information or sometimes it’s just that he wants to drain them of their life essence to keep his own stable. Father of mostly girls, he has one son, Grayson, but doesn’t really consider him to be a viable heir to the family line since he’s gay. Darius has a lot of love for all of his children though he seems to have some issues showing it at times, sticking to a sort of ‘push them out of the nest’ mentality, that when they reach a certain age, they’re on their own. Still...he’s a bit pushy when it comes to who is considered an appropriate husband for his girls. One man, he didn’t like he turned into a snail, so not really the man you want to cross. 

Eddie Brock (Venom) - Following a particularly dangerous encounter with the symbiote Venom which has been inhabiting his body for about two years, Eddie Brock is forced to move once again, this time leaving Anne behind to marry Dr. Dan and forget he ever existed, in a very literal sense. Eddie ends up trapped inside the Venom form for a while, only coming out of it with the help of Justice and her people in Section. Once he regains control, Venom is somewhat subdued inside of him, under the threat of being completely purged from him permanently if he doesn’t behave, and Eddie is able to regain some sense of normalcy, getting a job working as an investigative reporter at one of the more unknown papers in New York.

Marquee Azure - Real name Mark Brandon, Azure was renamed by his lover Grayson when he became his submissive and allowed himself to be put on display for everyone to see. I still know very little about where he came from other than his home life was never very good to begin with because he was willing to be dominated by others, bowing to even someone smaller or meeker than he is and more than willing to do so.

Match #1: Young Lions Cup Defense #3 Still Life vs. Thief Ant Both competitors enjoyed their fair share of crowd support, with the reaction described as split. Still Life tossed the YLC at Thief Ant, taking advantage of the referee taking it away from him to hit a bulldog headlock before locking in the Venus de Milo, ending the match. WINNER: Still Life Match #2: Tag Contest Lucas Calhoun and Stray Kat (1 point) vs. Icarus and Travis Huckabee The question I posed regarding if Huckabee would ever have to wrestle himself was rendered moot, as Calhoun and Kat pulled out an upset victory and earned their second point after Calhoun utilized the Samoan drop to pin Icarus. Kat apparently hated the back tattoo just as much as the majority of us do, as she scratched at it at one point. WINNERS: Lucas Calhoun and Stray Kat (2 points) Match #3: Singles Contest Der Wildebeest w/Jakob Hammermeier vs. Missile Assault Man After having rushed several opponents to earn his way to a shot at the Grand Championship last month, MAM was unfortunately on the receiving end this time, as Der Wildebeest made easy work of him before finishing him off with a running crossbody. WINNER: Der Wildebeest (1 point) Match #4: Tag Contest Fire Ant and Green Ant vs. Cajun Crawdad and Merlok A hard-fought match that could’ve gone either way. The Creatures of the Deep representatives almost had the match won at one point with a top rope double stomp/Emerald Flowsion combination, but Green Ant made the save to keep his team alive. A tandem Beach Break secured the Colony the victory. Post-match, they were attacked by the Creatures, with commentary heavily implying that we will be seeing a Fire Ant/Cajun Crawdad grudge match sometime in the near future. WINNERS: Fire Ant and Green Ant (1 point) Match #5: The Infinite Gauntlet #1: Boomer Hatfield #2: Danjerhawk Unfortunately for Danjer, he went from being last year’s winner to being first eliminated this year, as Boomer had him pinned fairly quickly. ELIMINATED: Danjerhawk #3: Sonny DeFarge #4: Dasher Hatfield Dasher almost immediately clotheslined DeFarge over the top to eliminate him, then screamed at Boomer to eliminate himself. Boomer refused, and the father-son grudge match was on. ELIMINATED: Sonny DeFarge #5: Ice Cream Jr. Looks like Junior didn’t even get into the match proper, as he was dropkicked off the apron by Boomer. ELIMINATED: Ice Cream Jr. #6: Nytehawk Somehow, the Hawx seem to have caught a major nerfing, as Nyte was dispatched in the same way as Junior before him. ELIMINATED: Nytehawk #7: Kobald Dasher intimidated Kobald into exiting the ring of his own volition (though not eliminating himself), and the Prince of All Goblins took a seat in the crowd to watch the father-son grudge match and eat some popcorn. #8: Frantik Lured over by popcorn, Frantik joined Kobald in watching the match. #9: Fireman’s Carry Fray More watching of the father-son grudge match, as everyone learned from Junior and Nyte and were pretty content to leave the two of them to it. Everything Dasher and Boomer dished out, from a Yoshi Tonic from Boomer to a Jackhammer from Dasher, wasn’t enough to eliminate the other. #10: Cornelius Crummels #11: BLANK BLANK finally got everyone else up and away from the popcorn, persuading them all to charge the Hatfields en masse. This got Frantik and Crummels sent over the top rope and Kobald pinned, with BLANK following over the top rope not long after. ELIMINATED: Frantik ELIMINATED: Cornelius Crummels ELIMINATED: Kobald ELIMINATED: BLANK #12: Molly McCoy Fray was nearly eliminated, but landed on Frantik’s shoulders after sailing over the top rope, ending up in the bleachers (and surprisingly not eliminated), where he hid. Molly did not get involved in the family squabble, looking on as Dasher finally took his son out of the running. ELIMINATED: Boomer Hatfield #13: Volgar Boomer had to be held back from re-entering the ring, then caught a sucker punch from his dad. Volgar surprisingly came to Boomer’s aid, leaving Dasher begging for a timeout. #14: Snapmare Matt For those following the Crucible saga, you just might recognize this guy. On commentary, Sidney Bakabella passes off the presence of the CHIKARA-branded “enhancement talent” as keeping the costs down, but we all know better. #15: John Francis of Coronado Molly got into it with Volgar, attempting to put him to sleep and clinging to his back despite his attempts to shake her off. #16: Armbreaker Amir Amir, another from the Crucible, retrieved Fray from the bleachers, where the two joined with Matt to take on all comers. #17: Worker Ant Volgar managed to shake Molly for a few seconds, but she was right back on him. #18: Rick Roland Still seeking his pay, Roland immediately made a beeline for John Francis, while the Crucible trio targeted and eliminated Molly before dropping and dogpiling on Worker to send him out. ELIMINATED: Molly McCoy ELIMINATED: Worker Ant #19: Officer Warren Barksdale Barksdale was unfortunate enough to run straight into the Crucible trio, resulting in him being knocked out and eliminated. Meanwhile, John Francis eluded his former associate, sending him over the top rope. ELIMINATED: Officer Warren Barksdale ELIMINATED: Rick Roland #20: The Whisper Surprisingly, there was an impromptu alliance between Dasher, Whisper, and John Francis, which took out Volgar. This dissolved fairly quickly afterward, with Dasher attempting to take out his longtime rival, only for John Francis to reverse the attempt and send Dasher packing. ELIMINATED: Volgar ELIMINATED: Dasher Hatfield #21: Jawbreaker Josue Josue immediately joined with his Crucible brethren, and the four started looking under the ring while John Francis and Whisper fought. They soon settled on a strategy, with Matt loosening the top rope at one corner while the other three blocked everyone else’s view. #22: Oleg the Usurper #23: Bull James The Crucible quartet soon moved on to another turnbuckle and continued their sabotage, while Bull and Oleg squared off. #24: Unsocial Jordan And then Bull and Oleg decided to team. That would be interesting as a regular duo, I think. #25: Enzuigiri Evan Evan came in hot, eliminating Bull with a standing moonsault before joining his Crucible brethren. A four-way attack and subsequent dogpile got rid of Oleg. ELIMINATED: Bull James ELIMINATED: Oleg the Usurper #26: Hermit Crab Matt booted Hermit Crab’s head off and he got dogpiled as well, before the Crucible quintet returned to loosening the top rope. ELIMINATED: Hermit Crab John Francis, who had been left face-down on the mat at this point, soon attracted the attention of the Crucible quintet, with him being lifted by three of them into a powerslam from Evan... ...but they surprisingly decided against another dogpile, as the quintet lifted him back to his feet then moved off and let Whisper, who they had left completely untouched, eliminate him. ELIMINATED: John Francis #27: Shazza McKenzie Possibly seeing the threat before even getting into the match, McKenzie was able to drop the quintet back to a quartet by taking out Josue. ELIMINATED: Jawbreaker Josue #28: Razerhawk Another one who saw the threat, Razer made a beeline for the Crucible quartet, who had targeted Shazza and Unsocial Jordan after Josue’s elimination, taking both out of the match. ELIMINATED: Unsocial Jordan ELIMINATED: Shazza McKenzie #29: Duke “The Dumpster” Droese Razer unfortunately was next out of the match. (From what I can find, it was over the top rope, but it happened offscreen.) ELIMINATED: Razerhawk Droese protected himself from the Crucible quartet, taking out two in the process. The other two soon continued working on the top rope, which they had nearly detached at that point. ELIMINATED: Fireman’s Carry Fray ELIMINATED: Snapmare Matt #30: Hallowicked #31: El Hijo del Ice Cream Avenging his fallen brethren, Amir made Droese tap out, then got kicked over the near-nonexistent top rope by Hallowicked. ELIMINATED: Duke “The Dumpster” Droese ELIMINATED: Armbreaker Amir #32: Solo Darling Hijo at least lasted longer than Junior, but was made to tap out by Whisper. ELIMINATED: El Hijo del Ice Cream Evan picked up both Solo and Whisper, possibly attempting to protect both, but Hallowicked saw his opportunity and kicked Evan...except, probably thanks to the loosened top rope, not only did Hallowicked send Evan, Solo, and Whisper out, but his own momentum carried him over and out as well! ELIMINATED: Solo Darling ELIMINATED: The Whisper ELIMINATED: Enzuigiri Evan ELIMINATED: Hallowicked And then... #33: Ophidian Yup, Ophidian strolled on in, didn’t have to deal with anyone, and won the match thanks to the total party kill. WINNER: Ophidian Post-match, Boomer returned to the ring and called his father out, and Dasher returned to “Bad Dad” chants and a random countdown for some reason. (The following transcribed by FAN user lildude8218) Dasher: "Listen here, you little disappointment. I've wasted 12 years fighting for this. Fighting for these people and it was nothing but failure after failure. It wasn't until I started fighting for myself that I became a respectable champion. And until I get that through your thick skull you'll be nothing but a disappointment. You won't deserve to carry my bags, you don't deserve to wrestle in my ring, you don't deserve my last name, and you don't deserve to be wearing my mask." Boomer: "My entire life I've looked up to you. My dad taught me about sportsmanship, following the rules, and hard work. When I look at you I don't see those values anymore. I see a LIAR, I see a CHEATER, I see a BULLY. As far as I'm concerned, you're not my dad." Dasher attacked Boomer, and Bakabella intervened to calm them all down. Unlike certain past DoFs, he wasn’t about to tolerate their fighting and made a ruling then and there: on May 26th, it’ll be Dasher vs. Boomer in a Lucha de Apuesta (Mask vs. Mask match). Dasher then kicked his son in a very personal area before locking on a sleeperhold, and the tecnicos emptied out of the locker room to bail Boomer out. INTERVIEW: MICHAEL CIRAVOLO OF BEAUTY IN CHAOS

Senior journalist Anabel DFlux had the continued pleasure of interviewing Michael Ciravolo once more, from a safe distance amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. Curious as to what the founder of Beauty in Chaos had been up to during the lockdowns, the two had the opportunity to catch up on all of this year’s happenings. The most important of which is the Tower of Strength 2020 release, one of The Mission’s classic songs re-envisioned to raise money for essential workers. 

A bit of a refresher for those who may be unaware, Michael Ciravolo happens to be no stranger to the world of music- he has played guitar in Human Drama for the past 30 years. Perhaps best known as President of Schecter Guitar Research, he has also played live and recorded with Michael Ashton’s Gene Loves Jezebel since 1998. Michael has stepped deep into a musical endeavor known as Beauty in Chaos, Beauty in Chaos is a collaborative project featuring the talents of musicians such as Curse Mackey, Ashton Nyte, Wayne Hussey, Al Jourgensen, Johnny Indovina, Curse Mackey, Ice T, Evi Vine, Tish Ciravolo, and so, so, so many more across several albums and remix releases.

The interview begins with jumping directly into the Tower of Strength project. “That is another one of those surreal moments that seem to just happen with me and Beauty in chaos and all those around it, but the credit totally goes to Wayne Hussey [of The Mission]. As Covid started happening I kind of got an idea and wanted to maybe do something with [the song] Storm because I thought Ashton’s [Nyte] lyrics set up this real positive message. I reached out to Wayne [Hussey] first to see if he’d be up for doing a verse or some lines, to which he said he had been thinking about doing something as well. Wayne said that maybe we should go look at a song that has greater appeal, you know, a song that people gravitate towards and the idea of doing it for the charities. So the money goes to the charity. We kicked around some ideas to see if we could come up with something that had the sentiment. The Tower of Strength was a pretty big song for The Mission in the mid-to-late eighties and it turned out that it was getting some renewed air play in the UK. It became line an unofficial anthem to the front line and healthcare workers. The lyrics are perfect.” Michael tells us. The Tower of Strenth 2020 features a slew of absolutely incredible artists, some familiar faces in the Beauty in Chaos history and others major players in music history itself. Some of the collaborators include Andy Rourke, Billy Duffy, Budgie, Evi Vine, Gary Numan, James Alexander Graham, Jay Aston, Julianne Regan, Kevin Haskins, Kirk Brandon, Lol Tolhurst, Martin Gore, Michael Aston, Midge Ure, Miles Hunt, Rachel Goswell, Richard Fortus, Robin Finck, Steve Clarke, Tim Palmer, and Trentemøller.

But prior to this aid to the incredible front line workers, Beauty in Chaos managed to release a brand new album titled “The Storm Before the Calm”. The album was originally set to release in February, but was ultimately delayed due to a technical issue that caused the production programs to cease working. Amidst this struggle, Michael Ciravolo and producer Michael Rozon (Ministry) were able to save the record and continue forth with an upcoming release. Finally presented to the world on World Goth Day (unintentionally), the album was first heard right in the thick of the pandemic. “Beauty in Chaos was never about the money. People are isolated and stuck in their homes, not working, we just felt that having the record come out was our way of doing something and giving people some new music to enjoy. Hopefully it made the day a little better or something. A bad business decision but a great personal decision. The thing that is so special about Beauty in Chaos is that the singers that come on board are just fantastic lyricists that are sort of open ended in that you can read multiple ways into it. They don’t write in a literal sense. It’s very open.”

Music videos are a major part of Beauty in Chaos, as the project itself is not a ‘live’ band setup in any capacity. Beauty in Chaos is made up of a tremendous amount of incredibly talented musicians and producers, with each song featuring a different collaboration. As such, music videos become a very important part of the project, it’s the only visual aspect to the band itself. “A Kind Cruelty” with Curse Mackey [Pigface, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult] released on the original album’s release date, but after the album’s thrust into the public world, one more video was filmed and released: “Stranger” featuring Kat Leon [Holy Wars]. “Strangers was the last song we wrote for the record. The video is a bit different, which was done purposely as I think it sort of leads into what I see as the evolution of Beauty in Chaos. I love the way [Kat] writes from the heart and it just seemed like the perfect song to end the album. I wanted to do a video for that really bad. It kind of got delayed with covid-19, but as soon as Tiger Lab opened we were able to jump in! I can’t say it was a conceptual video, but the phrase that kept running through my head, in telling Kat and also Leslie the director, was ‘cinematic’. I just wanted it to be slow-moving just have this vibe. On the complete opposite side of the spectrum from “A Kind Cruelty”. I really love the pendulum to swing completely to the opposite side after we do one, so probably the next one after this will go back to being something dark.”

In Beauty in Chaos tradition, fans can anticipate a remix album to come on Halloween of 2020, with details featured in the above audio interview.
