Review on Math and English learning programs in India
I have been looking for additional support for my 7th grade child in Mathematics and English areas for past couple of years. I have checked with few friends and searched on Internet, there is overwhelming information on online/offline tuition, worksheets, online learning program options. Hence, I decided to summarize my findings to work as ready reckoner for other parents who are in similar pursuit.
First, I would like to differentiate between metal math and general learning programs. Mental math methods use Abacus, Vedic math concepts and enables child to perform memory based arithmetic calculations with speed. These methods help children to prepare for competitive exams and time bound tests. Whereas general learning programs emphasize on building strong concepts, foundation instead of memorization. These programs are in line with classroom curriculum (CBSE/ ICSE) and use colourful pictures, simulation videos and other material to explain math concepts. I continued my research for general learning programs.
There are several programs available for math learning only. Only few vendors are offering both math and English reading learning programs. It all depends on the child either requiring instructor led or self-learning program. Most important thing is constant monitoring, support from parent is required for making their child successful. Parents can’t just leave to teachers, learning modules. Parents are best judges to select appropriate learning program for their child. All the below programs that I reviewed are online based and would require a laptop/desktop with Internet facility.

The Cambridge Montessori Program: Why Is It Essential for Kids? Preschool Curriculum for Cambridge Montessori Nursery LKG and UKG
The Nursery LKG UKG Syllabus at Cambridge Montessori schools contains some of India’s most distinctive curricula. As a language model, I do not have access to specific details about the curriculum of any particular school or institution. However, I can provide some general information about the typical syllabus for Nursery LKG and UKG preschool programs.
In general, preschool programs for children aged 3 to 5 years old aim to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes the development of children’s physical, social, emotional, and cognitive skills. The syllabus for these programs typically includes a combination of academic and non-academic activities, including:
Language development: Activities that focus on developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
Math skills: Activities that introduce children to basic math concepts such as counting, sorting, and simple addition and subtraction.
Science and nature: Activities that encourage children to explore and discover the natural world around them.
Art and creativity: Activities that promote self-expression and creativity through art, music, dance, and drama.
Social and emotional development: Activities that help children develop their social and emotional skills, such as sharing, taking turns, empathy, and self-regulation.
Physical development: Activities that promote gross and fine motor skills, such as running, jumping, climbing, and drawing.
Montessori and Cambridge preschool programs may have additional or different focuses, based on their specific philosophies and curricular goals. It’s important to research and understand the specific curriculum and approach of the preschool program you are considering for your child.
