initial spoilery reflections on the Rogue novelisation; this is mostly scattered because my brain is still woolly with lack of sleep and the spike-and-drop of too much new stuff coming in for processing
SPOILERS under the cut:
missing pieces: these are so helpful! I'd been banging my head against bits of the scene in the TARDIS (why is the Doctor now in charge of the triform? is there some missing bit of negotiation/agreement about this that we just haven't seen? HOW DID YOU GET TO BE HERE? WHAT WAS THE MOMENT? ) and also the final showdown (how do the other two parts of the transport gate get into position?), and now I don't have to. there are explanations, they got left on the cutting-room floor, it happens.
fun extras: the lake scene, and yes, I can quite see how that is not happening on top of the strain of prolonged night shoots, never mind the other potential complications
cut lines that crop up elsewhere (e.g. the one from the Kate Herron interview in Collider about R's reaction to seeing all the Doctor's selves)
excellent 18th-century fiction nerd joke that made me cackle very happily
would you like a complicated winter to go with that hot summer, Mr H?
ART!
lots to work with/play with in the backstory, an ending that manages to be satisfying and still leaves enough room for fic to happen
for now*, an absolute commitment by the writers to who and what Rogue is, and to a queer romance with the Doctor that really is what it seems to be
[*because nothing is fully fixed and safe with an open/live canon]
still intrigued by the Yossarian as the name of Rogue's ship, and not sure what that signifies
looking forward to: all the cacti!

It's finally arrived! I was beginning to worry it had become lost in the post. Can't wait to read it :) I think it's a first edition too! (For us Brits anyway)

I finished Horns the other day, so now I'm going to start the novelisation of The Dark Knight!
I had bought this book YEARS ago, back when I was going through a bit of a Dark Knight obsession. XD
I never did read it properly, so it's now or never! :D

The Alderaan MirrorBright Lullaby edited to the theme of ‘Once upon a December’ ! 🥺
“Alderaan had possessed a moon for only one day of its existence. When the Death Star appeared, little children must have looked up in awe, believing the moon from their bedtime lullaby had come to their skies at last. They would've smiled up at it, pointed their tiny fingers, sung the song. Leia squeezed her eyes shut, trying not to imagine it.“ — Bloodline by Claudia Gray.

Skywalker, by contrast, looked every bit the HoloNet hero he was supposed to be. He seemed to tower over his companions, as though he had somehow gotten even taller in the months since Mace had seen him last. His hair was tousled, his color was high, and his walk still had the grounded grace of a natural fighter, but there was something new in his physicality: in the way he moved his head, perhaps, [...] or something less definable. Some new ease, new confidence. An aura of inner power. Presence.
