Ficlet: Staying or Going?

Timeline: flashback then present after Apology tour

Blitz wakes up with a start, looking at his phone on the side table of the prince's bedroom. Fuck, I'm gonna be late for work... He stayed the night. Again. He needs to stop doing that. If there was one thing he didn't wanna do to this bird, it's give him the impression that this would be an all-the-time thing.

"Good morning, cutie pie", Stolas's soft voice pulls him away from his phone and he gives a small sleepy smile, "Hey".

The prince's fingers trail up his back and through his spikes, making him shiver.

"You stayed...", he coos. Fuck... Blitz thinks.

No, no I can't stay. Staying gets people hurt.

He turns away from Stolas abruptly and slides off the bed, "Yeah well, gotta go to work-so", he says casually but before he can bend down to pick up his clothes, Stolas grips the tip of his tail lightly, making him jump and look back, "What gives?!"

Stolas chuckles and puts the tip in his mouth, licking it lightly. Blitz blushes and pulls his tail from him, "Very cheeky you", he points to Stolas who wraps himself in the blanket and suddenly a bird burrito is staring up at him. Why the fuck is he so damn cute??

"Stay, please? At least for breakfast?" Stolas asks, trying his best to do a puppy dog face with all four red glowing eyes.

Blitz laughs and pushes the burrito away, putting on his pants, "No chance. Some of us have to work ya know".

Stolas is silent for a moment, "I'll pay you. To..stay for breakfast".

Blitz looks up at him and blinks, "Why would you do that?" Stolas starts but then shrugs. Blitz chuckles and shakes his head, finishing getting dressed.

"It was fun feathers. The book?" He asks, and Stolas takes it from his night stand and reluctantly gives it to him, he takes it gently and turns around towards the balcony.

"Text ya", he says, waving behind him.

Stolas groans and holds his head. What time is it? Where is he?

He wakes up next to...fuck. It's that guy he kissed last night. Laying on top of his chest, pink skin resting on his grey feathers. He levitates his phone over and blinks away the crusts in his eyes, rubbing them. Then swipes to Blitz. He remembers only a little from the party. But he remembers Blitz was there. What'd he want?

He stares at the memes that were left on read and groans then swipes to the bottom where there's a new message:

His eyes widen. That's...unlike him. To apologize.

I can sorry everyone, everyone but you. Cause I don't owe you dick! Everyone, but you.

His fingers hover over the keyboard when the attractive succubus stirs on his chest and he drops the phone next to him.

"Well good morning, handsome", the succubus smiles and trails his fingers around circles in his chest feathers. Which admittedly is getting overstimulating for the owl.

"Uh, good morning. I don't really remember last night", he admits and the succubus nuzzles against his neck, "That's alright, me either. Sure it was fun though".

He's feeling very uncomfortable now. He coughs, "Right, uhm", he practically peels the succubus off of him and scooches to the side of the bed, swinging his legs off to the side so he can look for his clothes.

"Are you alright?" The man asks, his wings twitching and rubbing his arm. Stolas's hands shake and he gives an anxious chuckle, "Haha, not really. I don't um, do this sort of thing".

"One night stands?" He asks. Stolas freezes, clenching the bedsheets and only thinking of the many nights that Blitz left early. Thinking that could be his escape.

"Uhm...yes", he says and the succubus goes to touch him but he swats his hand. "Sorry", the man says. Stolas doesn't even want to know his name. He feels nauseous. He levitates over his blouse, pants, and cape, putting them on swiftly and stands up, steadying himself.

"You sure you don't want to go out for coffee before we part?" The succubus asks and Stolas winces, looking at his phone.

"No-no, I have...work", he bites his beak. Feeling remorse for doing this to Blitz. But what even are they anymore, if they ever were anything? He stares down at the text. Sorry...

And opens a portal, stepping through and waving to the succubus behind him.

Gabenath Headcanons, yes I’m aware this has become an obsession

I'm currently procrastinating revision for my Inorganic and Physical chemistry final exam so...

Here's what I imagine the RTC characters to be like during exam season!

Mischa:

-Will be walking into the exam hall radiating the energy of: 'I am ready to fight God and either lose or become him'

-The type of guy to do the entire exam with only a single pen he brought in his pocket

-Once was reviewing revision materials for a literature class only to panic for a second once he saw Old English texts, thinking that he somehow just forgot English for a hot second

Noel:

-The type of person to sketch those hyperrealistic eyes on the back of the exam paper once he finished answering the questions

-Studies extra hard to try one up Ocean in their French exams

-Will ask Ocean if she's 'ready for the exam today' when there is in fact, no exam that day

The two met through tutoring. Blaire was failing history. Fred wanted to make some extra money.

Eventually some of the side talk turned into actual conversation, befriending each other.

Fred caught feelings first. Blaire was completely oblivious to this.

The two actually got together through a drunken confession. Fred picked up Blaire after she went to a bad party and was too intoxicated to drive.

He even carried her to the front door. Until she confessed. Then Fred dropped her in the grass out of shock.

Fred will make fun of his girlfriend for being “short” even though it’s only by a couple inches.

In reverse, Blaire will make fun of Fred for being less athletic than her.

Fred is teaching Blaire how to draw.

Blaire spoils Fred. A lot. Many of their dates are just shopping sprees.

Fred sucks at dancing. During homecoming, he was completely embarrassing. Blaire would roll her eyes and keep going anyway.

Would 100% fit that “He asked for no pickles!” meme.

Blaire has an entire crying fit whenever the dog dies in movies. No matter how many times Fred has to explain it’s just fiction, she’ll cry even harder.

Blaire’s favorite thing ever is My Little Pony. Any and all generations (Except the 5th one, ew). She keeps this a complete secret. No one knows except for Fred (who probably found out by opening one of her closets and seeing 300 toys)

She feels welcome to talk about My Little Pony, and even wake up early to watch reruns or play with some of the toys.

Fred doesn’t judge her for it. Finds it a bit weird, but loves her enough to go along with it.

Angst

Tanner McCroy is an abusive ex boyfriend of Blaire’s.

She was sextorted by him for a year or so. Blaire essentially did anything he wanted.

After Tanner got “bored” of her, they broke up and she was finally able to find someone else.

When Fred realized what happened, it made him angry. A type of angry that he’d never felt up until that day.

So angry that he got into his first school fight for it, punching Tanner square in the jaw.

The effects of Tanner never fully went away. Blaire developed PTSD from the events.

Fred wanted to do something, but beating up Tanner over and over again wasn’t going to fix the bottom line.

The only thing he could really do was be there to support her. No matter what.

Flamebomb (Flamethrower x Valeri)

Val is a night owl and Flame is an early bird (Due to his practices being so early in the morning). This causes the following to happen:

On Friday nights, Flame will tend to fall asleep doing anything extraneous/ comfy past 1am. This tends to happen during cuddling. Val finds that adorable.

Speaking of cuddling, sometimes Flame plain sleeps on top of his girlfriend. On accident. Not in a cute cuddly way, but taking up half the bed type of way. Val refuses to move, making productive things more difficult. For example her trying to type on her phone would produce gibberish.

They go on mini crime sprees as dates sometimes. The occasional fire starts.

Like Blairecrash, they sometimes also wake up early to watch Saturday Morning Cartoons and rather cereal in bed, albeit different ones.

Angst

Tanner was also an ex of Val. The situation didn’t get as far as Blaire’s, but Val was SA’d.

Flame feels similar about Tanner as Fred does.

When Flamethrower witnessed Valeri’s bulimia first hand, his heart dropped into his stomach.

He tried to stay calm when confronting her about it, staying completely passive and not blaming her for anything. After a couple minutes of her being out of view he completely shut down.

Flame wished she didn’t have to suffer like that. That he could just snap his fingers and make her healthy again. That she’d just be okay. But things didn’t work like that. Things were much more complicated.

Bonus - Double Date HCs

These mostly get planned by Fred and Flame since they’re closer.

Despite being somewhat the opposite of each other, Blaire and Val get along very well.

Their first double date was to a laser tag game.

Everyone got really competitive.

For extra competition, Fred and Flame were on one team, and Blaire and Val were on another.

Fred is actually really good at laser tag, causing Blaire to get targeted and shot multiple times. Because of that, Blaire “swore revenge” on him.

That essentially just means stealing the food off his plate later on.

^ Val actual ended up doing this to Flame. He got flustered and this was all he could think about for the rest of the day.

After, they went to go pick up something to eat.

It took a million years for them to figure something out since no one was craving anything but was also picky of where they wanted to eat.

They ended up choosing a fast food joint. (Taiga Country’s In & Out equivalent)

Blaire ate half of Fred’s fries.

Unrelated to this, I’d like to think they went on another date where Val blew something up. She would go:

“Whoopsies! Well, anyways….”

And then Blaire would stare at the fire like this

Gosh there are just so many questions here. I feel like this is from an ask meme where it's supposed to be a couple at a time. 🤣

This took a bit. And I am putting it under a cut.

Who says I love you first?

It was technically Rodimus to Drift, but in a noncommittal "I love you bro" kind of way that he was trying to play off as casual. He danced around it but never fully committed to it. When Drift left from the Lost Light, Rodimus couldn't say it again more seriously, though it haunted him for two years until they reunited at which point Dratchet had happened, and he shut that down. Ratchet had also teasingly told Ratchet he knows he loves him and similar joking back, but wasn't interested in him yet beyond respecting him and caring about him and distant kind of note that Ratchet was attractive.

Ratchet actually said I love you to Drift first because he left determined to be emotionally honest for once. Drift actually took longer to say it back, which upset Drift–Ratchet understood that Drift showed love–but once he got over the hump kept saying it whenever he got the chance.

Rodimus and Drift dance around it for ages, and it is pulling teeth to get them to verbalize it due to the twice burned issue and not wanting to destabilize things. Rodimus actually says it by accident because he's been socializing with Ratchet to try and force himself to "get over his feelings" by metaphorically pressing the bruise over and over by shoving Dratchet's relationship in his face as much as possible and reminding himself that Ratchet is clearly the better option by getting to know him more. Ratchet similarly wants to get to know Rodimus more as well given his importance in their lives and Ratchet's newfound determination to do better in all his relationships. These two end up spending more time together as Drift is getting interrupted, leaving it just them and finding out they both like fishing. Though Ratchet kind of is maliciously petty about it because he's determined to not be outsmarted by a fish while Rodimus finds it relaxing and Ratchet hilarious. Drift tries it and theoretically he thought it would appeal to him but he finds it mind numbingly boring.

Ratchet and Rodimus are doing this and acting a bit silly together now that they are really friends and Ratchet laughs at Rodimus's joke which makes Rodimus light up inside in a way he recognizes and just blurts out "Damn Ratch you beautiful." And them it clicks, and he mouth vomits. "Oh shit. I'm in love with both of you."

Due to the soap opera drama of the LL Drift of course overhears this.

It takes a while for Rodimus to actually say it intentionally and a lot of chaos for all three of them to assure Ratchet he wabts him too. But he does beat Ratchet to it. Drift, meanwhile, finally takes the step with Rodimus, and instead of saying it aloud does it through hand while they are alone together during the "working things out phase". So he says it openly first.

Who makes their Energon?

The all take turns getting Energon for each other. None of them are particularly interested in cooking or experimenting. So it's mostly straight cubes with some add ins for flavor that they get pre-made or at Swerve's.

Rodimus does like tasting experiments though and Dratchet brings him back food-food from Swerve's.

It's common for Driftrod to pop in and bring Ratchet Energon. Ratchet in turn often brings them snacks when he knows they are having long "game sessions" which Rodimus really enjoys and Drift thinks is fun but doesn't often seek out himself.

Who is the early bird/who is the night owl?

Against conventional wisdom, I say that Rodimus is the early bird. Why waste life sleeping? He is also the night owl along with Ratchet. He does not sleep enough.

Ratchet is much easier to convince to sleep in and only gets up early when scheduled. He also is prone to staying up late.

Drift has a regular schedule and is an absolute disaster in the morning if woken early which no one believes but that's because he gets all his pissed off "I am awake and it is everyone's problem" energy out before he leaves the room.

Who is the big spoon/little spoon?

No set pattern. All three take turns.

Who loves to cuddle?

Rodimus does after sex. It is an absolute necessity, and any other exercise that wears his energy out leads to cuddling. He relished it then and the ability to just linger and enjoy. If he has energy, though, he can only stay for so long.

Drift is initially a bit more standoffish at first but enjoys it more over time. He loves using Rodimus as a space heater or wrapping himself over Ratchet.

Ratchet, though, is the biggest proponent of it, and once he's comfortable, he loves doing it anytime, anywhere. He has absolutely no problem cuddling Rodimus in the Captain's Chair while doing paperwork or having either of them perched on his lap while at Swerve's or curling up into each other. He loves lazy morning sleep ins cuddled together.

Who hogs the blanket?

Drift. Definitely Drift. Rodimus overheats easily so often ends up kicking them off, and Ratchet can sleep without them. Drift has issues with temperature regulation, though, and finds wrapping up comforting.

Who wakes the other one up with kisses?

All three have.

Who usually has nightmares?

All of them, though, at different frequencies and triggers. Life left scars, and they all need different comfort following one.

Who likes sweets?

Ratchet and Drift.

Ratchet because he has a sweet tooth. He can it the most closing disgustingly sweet monstrosity with a straight face and genuinely enjoy it.

Drift actually can't taste sweetness, but he likes the energy burst that comes with them. He keeps them on him for assurance and to snack on in between fueling.

Rodimus actually can't stand sweetness. The fuel he grew up on was mixed with a very saccharine chemical filler to dilute it and it makes his fuel tank upset now. A little he can handle but it has to be balanced out.

Who likes horror movies/who likes romance?

Ratchet and Rodimus eat up horror and are the kind of people who talk the entire way through criticizing or joking about the ways the deaths go. Drift is white knuckling and veey invested in survival.

Drift likes romance of all kinds. He enjoys the guarantee happy ending in pure romance genre. Rodimus enjoys romantic comedies and is actually very into period romances with complex social rules and melodrama. Ratchet usually falls asleep during them.

Who is small/tall?

They are all about the same height?

Who is considered the scaredy cat?

I'd say none of them. Rodimus likes being jump scared because he laughs and thinks it's fun but Drift has a more hair trigger reaction to it. None of them are "scared cats" though.

Who is the most affectionate?

Hard to say because they each show affection in their own way. Drift is probably the most "traditionally" demonstrative of his affection, though Ratchet and Rodimus also get plenty of PDA complaints.

Nicknames?

"Ratty" - "Kid" | Dratchet

"Rodders" | Driftrod

"Roddy" - "Ratch" | Rarer Ratchrod

Who is most likely to carry the other?

Ratchet. He enjoys it too as Driftrod are always delighted when he shows off his strength.

I think we all know the answer to that. The funny part, though, is when Ratchet realizes he's become a sugar baby. Rodimus has no qualms once Drift and he work things out.

Ratchet. Both times. Mostly because Drift got tongue tied.

They switch.

Rodimus. And Drift will take shameless advantage of this.

All of them at different points. Rodimus, especially in the beginning but less as time goes on. Drift during rougher patches. Ratchet as well though he is the worst for asking about it. Rodimus actually ends up being the best at pegging when he needs it and is the most comfortable asking.

It's Ratchet and Rodimus. They start it out because they are both trying to one up each other and Drift is stuck in between their sexy war in the shared group chat having to look Perceptor in the face while Ratchet left a sexy voice mail about how he's going to eat out Rodimus later. He puts an ends it eventually because Rodimus may be shameless and Ratchet has a great poker face but Drift cannot handle this constant bombardment.

On that note, this feels like a good time to say that as my rp partner, you NEVER have to match my length ⸺ be it long or short. That said tho, I would prefer at least a few sentences. ( That also said, I do definitely sometimes like one or two sentences back and forth. )

BEST TIME TO WRITE : It varies for sure ⸺ if I'm busy the next day, I might do most of my writing between 8pm to midnight. If I'm free tho, I suppose the times I prefer are really any time from 1am to about 7am ?? I'm both a night owl and an early bird, so really any time that isn't mostly daytime I guess 😭

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S) : We have our moments for sure. Funny enough, the place I say we differ the most is actually our food preferences ?? I write Ms Ham-Sandwich Woman herself and yet I personally don't even like ham all that much, or really any pork in general outside of sausage. I don't like the taste of butter unless I'm using it to cook or putting it on some toast. Meanwhile, she can eat 16 sticks of it.

I'll be honest I don't really have any headcanons off the top of my head. I have to think really hard about those I like but usually I can point at a preexisting one and go "haha yes I like this one" without thinking of it myself =v=

I think my biggest hc rn - and it's kind of controversial bc ik ppl have different opinions on it - is that deku is just flat out gay. like that's his sexuality, he only likes men. I used to hc him as bi and I campaigned pretty hard for it, and regarding fandom ships I still don't mind shipping him with girls. (tbh with fandom ships, I kind of just disregard a character's sexuality hc entirely bc I'm a multishipper who thinks crack ships are fucking great.)

but vibe wise, as well as putting canon into perspective, he just feels so gay to me. he screams comphet. he's got some vague internalized homophobia where he's totally supportive if u're gay, but HE'S not gay. and there's no way he can be even though he very well could be. like just think about it. he was really only so shy and nervous around girls bc he's literally never interacted with one casually before high school. and after he got close to 1A and could, you know, talk to women, he lost any deeper attraction in them. literally what happened with him and ochako. that's just how I feel anyway, but he won't admit his natural drift towards men (bkg) and his emotional hangups on men (bkg). he hangs out with men (bkg) way too much for him to have any serious interest in women imo

anyway this is just my take, you can hc deku as whatever sexuality you want!!! I still think bi deku has so much flavor like yass be the disaster bi u were meant to be!!! but gay deku just speaks more to me nowadays, I guess

ok upon thinking long and hard, I have come up with these silly hcs as well:

they are both bad at verbalizing their feelings. dk is overall horrible with emotions that pertain to himself so he just doesn't dwell on his very obvious crush on bkg. he just thinks that it's normal to be obsessed with another man. like lol hes been doing it since he was a baby. it's not anything more. he is NOT gay. straight men can appreciate everything about another man and more! just bestie things! and bkg has accepted in his heart that he is gay for dk but u are NOT going to hear him say it. sorry but that man does not know how to even start a convo about this. he'd probably want to, but knows he'd fuck it up and dk would miss the point. he'd probably just tell dk to fight him and then make out somewhere down the line bc it's easier and less embarrassing to him. little does he know, HE'S embarrassing and I hate him.

so u know the whole "bkg is an early bird and dk is a night owl" hc? and how it's technically canonically wrong? yeah. I'm obsessed with how wrong it is. bkg going to bed early and waking up late is so real of him. he just really fucking loves to sleep, and dk is the exact opposite. man goes to bed late and wakes up at 5 in the morning. he gets like 3 hours of sleep maximum and he's functioning perfectly. god I wish I were him

this is one I just thought of right now but it's like. part of the fandom bible that bkg can cook and dk cannot. however. I think dk can cook ok - fine enough to sustain himself - but bake REALLY WELL. bkg can cook bc he's "a natural" who can easily figure out exactly how to cook and spice foods. he doesnt need to follow a recipe to a T, he can just figure it out himself. dk can bake bc I'd imagine baking, with their meticulous recipe requirements, are easier to comprehend for him. he takes a shitton of notes on the daily, u can't tell me he'll eagerly read and jot down shit so his pastries turn out well. he'd prefer following step by step than winging it. does this make sense. words are hard

I always like drawing bkdk pretty close in height. ik lots of bkdks like a height difference but I prefer when rivals are pretty equal, and that includes how tall they are

dk's hands are coarser than bkg's, except around the palms, where bkg canonically has thick skin (so I'd assume there's some callouses there)

I like to think that bkg is good at basically anything, considering how he's a perfectionist. give him something to do and one week to do it, and he'll have a new skill under his belt. but there's a few things he can't do that trip him up so bad and make him so angry. like to me he definitely doesn't know how to whistle or roll his Rs. he just physically cannot. they're such pointless abilities but he hates how he can't do them. especially bc dk can definitely do both

dk keeps calling bkg "kacchan" bc it reminds him of a simpler time :') it makes him feel more connected to bkg than he initially is, and tacitly tells the class that he knows bkg best. also bc bkg never told him to stop so like ... why should he stop now. lol. and ALSO bc he's waiting to see how far he can go before bkg snaps. little does he know, bkg never snaps about "kacchan" bc that's dk's name for him. it reminds him that dk is always there, always calling out for him. and recently, it's a reassurance that he's still here, against all odds
