CHANI NATTAN, INDERPAL MOGA & AR PAISLEY BRIDGE BORDERS WITH JOINT PUNJABI-ENGLISH HIP-HOP EP EAST TO WEST
Today, Chani Nattan, Inderpal Moga and AR Paisley bridge East and West with the release of their highly-anticipated joint EP “East To West” via 91 North Records. Merging authentic western hip hop sounds with traditional South Asian roots, the 7 track tape, which draws inspiration from early 90s and 2000s Hip Hop, sees Vancouver’s Chani Nattan and Inderpal Moga unite with Toronto’s rap titan AR Paisley in a project of timeless music that stays true to its roots while breaking international boundaries.
Featuring evocative bars, as well as a soulful, emotive blend of nostalgic sounds, East to West is sure to cement Nattan, Moga and Paisley's status as the new titans in the Punjabi - Hip Hop scene. Opening track 'Block Boys', blends the essence of early 2000s hip-hop with vibrant Punjabi sounds, in a dynamic fusion that highlights the artists lyrical flair, while fueling an exciting narrative of their collective grind and hustle.
youtube
‘Heater’ splices hypnotizing synths, and bouncy bass-heavy percussion over laid-back production from collaborator Jass G, on a track that embodies an aura of dominance and carefree enjoyment. The vibrant and uptempo vibes of ‘Dancer’, an experimental and innovative sound influenced by 90s disco, gives way to ‘Mehndi’, a song inspired by the vibrant culture of Punjabi wedding season - an interplay of nostalgia and romantic undertones that exemplify the artist’s versatility.
The project changes pace on love song ‘All Eyez On You” an intense cut that beautifully reflects on the feeling of being completely enamored by a single person that becomes the center of one’s world, despite the constant allure of the spotlight. Nattan, Moga and Paisley ride out the ups and downs of life's relational tides, with their most introspective single to date “Seasons’ - an ode to the unpredictable nature of relationships that compare to ever changing seasons. Rounding out the tape is the 2023 release, ‘What’s Beef’, the first collaboration between the artists, which started their ascent together in the hip hop space.
youtube
Chani Nattan, Inderpal Moga and AR Paisley are one of the most exciting breakout rap talents of recent years. With music that is relatable in every sense, driven less by punchlines and more by traditional roots and nostalgia, the artists reflect on their personal experiences of the process saying, “We feel nostalgic when we listen to music right now, the sound reminds us of when we were in middle school going to theme parks, playing basketball etc. We had a lot of relatable connections to music like the music that resonated with us most during our upbringings.”
Chani Nattan, Inderpal Moga, and AR Paisley also blaze a trail as the first Canadian South Asian trio to showcase Punjabi hip-hop on the viral platform On The Radar.
Shot in New York City, the trio delivered a dynamic East To West Cypher freestyle on the platform, which has seen the likes of Drake & Central Cee, Lil Baby, Lil Yachty amongst other notable rap acts. The East To West tape follows an exciting 2024 for the rising stars, with a consistent slate of releases from Chani Nattan and Inderpal Moga that includes their 91 North Records debut ‘Facetime’ which garnered nods from outlets such as Billboard Canada, reaching #1 on Spotify Canada's Vancouver Pulse Chart and recent release ‘Bhabi’.
The year has also proved to be a breakout one for Paisley, whose surprise collaboration ‘Drippy’ with the late Sidhu Moose Wala accumulated over 15 million views in under a week, charting #9 on Canada's Billboard Hot 100. They are set to round out the summer with a performance at the UK’s R5B Festival on August 31st!

i’ve been thinking a lot recently about the styles of lyric writing of aki-p, tsunku and hyadain. well, not recently, because i’ve been thinking about it since at least the last time one of my twitter mutuals commented on their pet peeve of people thinking aki-p actually writes songs lol.
and most of my thoughts are still just partially formed, and probably not accurate since i haven’t bothered to read up into it, but they go sorta like this:
i like a lot akb48 lyrics. despite the actual music quality ebbing and flowing throughout the years, i think the lyrics are the second most constant aspect to it (the first one is i think, the vocal direction and mixing lol). out of the three, aki-p is the one that isn’t a musician, and his only contribution to 48g music is the lyrics.
of course, there are some questionable pieces (tonari no banana anyone?), but he usually nails the tone of the song, from fresh and summery to nostalgic and sorrowful, even managing some incredibly poignant lyrics, like mokugekisha, or silent majority (keyakizaka46), bokutachi wa tatakawanai and the legendary keibetsu shiteita aijou. this is the kind of lyrics i like the best from him, because i think he does social commentary particularly well. my favorite is rock da yo, jinsei wa..., which is a very cynical song about violence and japan’s politics wrapped in the bubblegummiest of songs.
after more than a decade as an idol fan, i can say with confidence that i am not a fan of akimoto yasushi. however i do recognize that he’s skilled at what he does, to the point where when a couple of years ago he was set to write a song for bts, i was sorely disappointed when fans complained about him so much that he gave up the project. it would have been good, and i’m curious about the direction he’d have gone with it.
on the other hand, both tsunku and hyadain are musicians, and both of them frequently compose and write the lyrics to the songs they produce (hyadain even arranges them, often!), so it is definitely more of a personal feeling.
compared to aki-p, tsunku is a much more weaker writer. i am not saying he is bad, and i do love a lot of his lyrics (i wish is probably one of my favorite songs ever, lyrics-wise, and toki wo koe sora wo koe deserves the praise it gets), but his writing is very simple and a lot more direct. i say this having the wall of reading lyrics through translations, but tsunku’s lyrics often go right to the point without beating around the bush.
because he is an Artist, i find that he cares a lot about how the song sounds, and he will not doubt to add nonsense words to make the beat go smoother (tiki bun? what the fuck was that again?). despite that, so many of his songs are earnest, full of heart, and show so much love for humanity (souda! we’re alive quickly comes to mind), and i think it compensates perfectly for maybe lacking writing skills.
hyadain also cares immensely about how the song sounds, but i think he might be better at words than tsunku is. i still find impressive how he built a pacifist message calling for a ceasefire within the silly rivalry between fans of two types of candy (kinoko takenoko daisenki), or how he made a song about the importance of forgiving based on a falling out with momoclo’s manager (buryoutogen nakayoshi monogatari). sure, he has written stuff like dot jp japan, which, i don’t think can be made sense of, but for the same group he wrote a beautiful anthem about diversity and coming out. so many of his songs are about the members of the groups he writes for, and he is very good at picking out details that will resonate with them. there’s the anecdote about how deeply both wwd and wwd ii impacted dempagumi members, even leading moga minami to not graduate just yet. recently, and also with dempagumi, i find that princess dempa power! shine on is a beautiful piece, with a simple metaphor that develops both in the instrumental and in the lyrics of the song, about idols and princesses and ultimately, about putting in hard work to make dreams come true.
this has maybe not a lot to do with lyric writing, but i am incredibly curious about hyadain’s worldview, because even maybe more than tsunku, i think he often approaches humanity with a lot of hope and joy, and it is admirable, because from what i’ve gleaned, he struggled a lot with bullying and loneliness when he was younger, and it must have taken a lot of strength to still come out of it wanting to find the good in people.

Nostalgic Refuge, Part 6 - Departure
Morning came, and Aurora was still clutching Ethan to her belly, which was still a little bulky from last night, but it wasn’t a cumbersome size anymore. He wiggled his way out of the sleeping leviathan’s paws, managing to avoid waking her up for the time being. He went to reach for his bag to grab an energy drink to shake the morning grogginess away, only to find that it wasn’t there. The shock seemed to work as well as an energy drink would, and he quickly began waking up Noodles. “Mmmh?” He groaned sleepily. “Move your giant head so I can get to waking up Aurora please.” Ethan said. “Mmmh.” Noodles groaned, lifting up his head and resting it back down beside Aurora. Ethan went up to the lagiacrus’ side and pushed her a little. She woke up with a grumble, before rolling back upright and giving Ethan a small lick on the cheek. “I left my stuff in my old house in Moga. Can you give me a ride over?” asked Ethan. Aurora nodded and held her leg out for him to climb up.
As they approached the village, something was off. Ethan noticed a ship in the port… It was the Ace Hunter’s ship! “Aurora! Get down!” He whispered before taking in a deep breath. He climbed up to Aurora’s horns, since he couldn’t tell her where to go when he’s underwater. It was a pretty simple system they used. Just follow whatever direction he pushed or pulled on her horns. He managed to guide her to a balcony behind his house that looked over the water. He scribbled a quick note, left it on the bed, and got his satchel and his equipment. He was about to jump back onto Aurora, but quickly scrawled another note and put it into an envelope. He peeked outside, the Ace Commander was speaking with the Moga Chief, he watched the Cadet leave for Moga Woods, and the Gunner was nowhere to be seen. He snuck out and slipped the letter into the Courier's bag. Ethan jumped back onto Aurora’s neck and she took him back to her nest. Noodles was more awake now, and watched them come in through the submerged entrance. “Noodles, we’re going. Again. And Aurora, you’re coming with us.” He said. Aurora tilted her head, and Noodles gave him a look of disbelief. “Why?” he asked. “The Ace Hunters are here, again. That’s why we’re going somewhere that they can’t.” answered Ethan. “Where might that be?” Noodles asked. “The New World.”
“The New World? You mean the place that apparently has an ecosystem revolving around a rotting dalamadur carcass?” Noodles asked, a little upset. “We don’t have to go all over the continent. We just need to stay there and lay low for a while. Besides, it’ll be fun! There’s probably monsters there that we’ve never seen!” Ethan encouraged. “Besides, Aurora looks pretty eager to go. And hey, because we have Aurora, I don’t have to ride in your mouth for hours on end.” Noodles sighed. “I don’t really have a choice, do I?” He asked. “Nope!” shouted Ethan, climbing onto Aurora’s back. “Just follow Aurora, Noodles. The electricity gives her a built in compass. Now, Aurora, once we get out of the cave, go west. Just straight west. That’s the general direction anyways.” He said. Aurora dove back into the watery tunnel, Noodles following close behind, as they made their way to the new world.
Late into the fifth day of swimming, land made itself known on the horizon. A lot of land. A whole continent in fact. They made landfall early into the sixth day, making sure to land a good distance from a large town he saw near the coast. Aurora just kinda laid there on the beach, clearly exhausted from the tip. The feast seemed to have made her put on a bit of weight as well... “Hey Ethan, look at that tree over there.” Noodles said, pointing out a huge tree in the center of the forest. “I want to nap in it.” Ethan thought for a moment. “No, maybe some other time.” he said. “We should get further from the town for now. Probably North, I hear that’s where all the interesting stuff is anyways.” Ethan said, shooting a glance back at the town. “Noodles, you’ll have to carry Aurora around. She’s not very fast on land.” Noodles grabbed the leviathan in his mouth and placed her between his shoulders. Ethan climbed up soon after, and Aurora leaned over and gave him a lick. “Okay, we’re ready!” Ethan shouted, and Noodles began to head deeper into this new land.

11 Best GBA Emulators for Android
Gaming nostalgia, at its finest, comes in many different forms. Most of us love the new-age graphics and fantastic gameplay but wish we could use that old GameBoy now and again.
Sadly, vintage consoles, handhelds, and games have become harder to obtain as the years go by. So getting those old school systems we have come to know, and love is more of a challenge.
Not everyone can get their hands on those vintage systems, so programmers have come up with solutions! Emulators and ROMs that you can play right from your Android device!
What is the Difference Between an Emulator and a ROM?
There is an important distinction to make between an Emulator and a ROM. An emulator is essentially the vehicle or virtual environment for a console like the Game Boy Advanced, and then the ROM is the actual game. A ROM would be something like Animal Crossing or Super Mario Bros.
That said, you will need one of the below emulators even to play a game. But after that, you'll need to find a ROM that you can load into one of the emulators — you can generally find those all around the ‘net. Once you have the emulator on your phone, hit the Internet and look for Game Boy Advanced ROMs for Android.
From there, just about every emulator below will have an option to “load” the ROM into the emulator, which then allows you to play your Game Boy Advanced game of choice.
But Which are the Best to Use?
Now, this part can be especially confusing if you are new to the Emulator concept. There are several different things to look at when selecting the best Emulator download.
We've compiled a list of the best GBA Emulators currently on the market!
11 Best GBA Emulators for Android
VGBANext
VGBAnext offers multiple types of GBA Emulator for Android. It has offers for the Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Color, and even the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). This one runs great and allows you to play your favorite ROMs from those three consoles seamlessly.
One of the highlights of this one is that it has controller support. Are you tired of using on-screen digital controls? VGBAnext has MOGA support, allowing you to play your favorite games on GBA, GBC, and NES with modern physical controller support. It is actually unique in the fact that there is a button that allows you to rewind gameplay by 16 seconds.
It even has a Network Play feature for playing your favorite games with friends over wireless networks.
GBA.emu
GBA.emu is packed full of different features that you would hope an emulator would have. There are save/load game states, BIOS emulation, support for cheat codes, and it even has support for a controller if you want to attach that external hardware.
GBA.emu has a ton of support for ROMs as well, so you can play most Game Boy Advanced games on this ROM.
This one also offers cross-platform support for utilizing a PC.
GBC.edu
GBC.emu is a Game Boy Color emulator, also developed by Robert Broglia. Broglia also made the GBA emulator, so the GBC.emu emulator has many of the same features. These include save/load states, BIOS emulation, hardware support (for controllers), support for cheat codes, and more. This emulator also has support for the original Game Boy as well. That means to can download games for that one as well!
Similar to GBA.emu, it offers support for cross-platform play on the PC. There is no free version, so you'll have to pay the $2.99 to get it. ROMs appear to work really well with GBC.emu. Even the original Game Boy ROMs are available. You will run into the occasional bug, but overall, GBC.emu is phenomenal with playing your favorite ROMs.
My Boy
My Boy is another GBA emulator available on the Google Play Store. It is one of the more popular options available. It has been downloaded by hundreds of thousands of players. It has a plethora of features packed into it. These include support for cheat codes, external hardware, save/load states, fast forward, and many more! If you need it, it has it.
You might find some better graphics with My Boy, as it does employ OpenGL rendering. It also is much easier to set up as it has BIOS emulation. That means you won't need a BIOS file in order to play your favorite ROMs. Speaking of ROMs, games play really well in My Boy!
There are very few bugs, and if you do run into a glitch, it is rarely something game-breaking.
My Boy also has some decent developer support. It has not been updated in about a year, but the developers always seem to update it every so often so that the latest versions of Android stay compatible with it.
John GBA
John GBA is another Game Boy Advanced emulator available. It works similar to GBA.emu and is very feature-rich. It contains things such as support for cheat codes, fast forward and slow down modes, save/load states, and more. Unfortunately, they appear to be lacking in good hardware support for it, which is disappointing for those that prefer playing with a controller.
The cost is $2.99, which is a decent price and prevents those pop-up ads while playing. Unfortunately, it also does not have any cross-platform support available. Overall, it is a cheap way to get into playing a Game Boy Advance.
VinaBoy Advance
The VinaBoy Advance is an excellent choice for Android. You can quickly and easily load a ROM within the emulator, so as long it is in a format like. gba, .gbc., .sgb., .zip, .7z, or .rar. This is an amazing emulator, featuring fast, smooth, multi-threaded, and in-game anti-aliasing. Suffice to say; your games are going to keep things moving quickly.
One of the cool things about this one is that it supports auto-save, and even supports cheat codes.
Super GBC
We have shown you all of the awesome GameBoy Advance emulators that you can pick up thus far! But if you want to take some more nostalgic games for a spin, you cannot go wrong with the Super GameBoy Color emulator. With this one, you'll be able to quickly and easily load ROMs onto the console and take a trip down memory lane.
The on-screen controls are a little rough, but it is still reasonably easy to play. This makes the Super GBC Emulator work checking out!
Pizza Boy GBA
Pizza Boy GBA is amongst the ones in higher demand. It is one of the few GBA Emulators on the market that do not annoy you with advertisements everywhere.
Another unique thing about Pizza Boy is that it was written with the C and Assembly programming languages, which makes this one, one of the better performers out there. That also makes it lightweight, which makes it easier on your battery life as well.
The developers say that you should be able to easily playback your favorite games in 60 frames-per-second, even on some of the older Android devices on the market.
This is a great one to check out if you are still sporting an older Android model!
My GBA
MyGBA is one of the more reliable ways to play your favorite Gameboy Advance ROMs. It provides smooth performance, excellent sound, and can easily save and load states to name a few.
MyGBA is similar to just about any other emulator out there. The one different thing is that the ROMs that you use with it must be in. gba or .zip formats.
This comes into play when obtaining the best ROM's.
Emulator for GBA 2
We're looking at the aptly named Emulator for GBA 2. The build and design on this one may not be the best UI, but it deserves a spot on the list. The basic functions work very well.
This emulator only supports the Game Boy Advanced 2, so you will have to find ROMs specifically for that machine. There are no other emulators mixed inside of it that you can play around with.
You have your basic load and save state functions, as well as a network mode that allows you to play with other players on the network. It has easy to use virtual keypads. Unfortunately, whether or not this one has hardware controller support is unknown.
GemBoy
GemBoy is another great emulator available. This one functions as a dual-emulator, offering both Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Color emulators. It does not offer nearly as many features as the GBA.emu, but you still have save/load stats, hardware support, and a few other features.
Most Game Boy Advanced and Game Boy Color ROMs will work with this emulator.
For offering two emulators in one, GemBoy is a surprisingly lightweight application.
Emulator Wrap Up
From this point on the choice is yours!
Take a look at the different options, and select what you may feel is best for your phone. Do you have an older Android model? Do you want to be able to play different console games? Be sure to pay attention to all of these factors when selecting.
The best part is you will be able to play your favorite classics right from your personal Android! The Emulator method will give you easy access and open doors to those consoles that you may now be able to obtain from the store.
What is your favorite emulator on the list? Let us know in the comments!

Plus they made or licensed some of the very best coin-ops in the arcade, so if you have been a gamer at the commence of the 80s, you by default loved Atari.

Leaving it out impacts nothing at all. Leaving it in affects the company's reputation.

Equivalent to how film buffs still seek out physical media and music fans nevertheless commit thousands on record collections, specialised hardware will likely usually have a spot in the properties of hardcore gamers.
The higher mobile development price is driven by both organic growth, lifting the overall marketplace, and cannibalistic development, at the expense of other segments. In addition to the initial casualties of mobile development (handheld console and on the web casual and social gaming), Newzoo notes indicators of slower growth in (on the net) Pc games and MMOs as spending is diverted to mobile devices. Nostalgic Refuge, Part 4 - Restoring Bonds
Noodles and Aurora smelled the village before they saw it, the smell of cooked meat and fish teasing their senses. “Do you think I'll be able to gorge? Would they have enough food?” Noodles asked, excitedly. “Unlikely.” Aurora said, shooting down his hopes. She noticed this, and quickly tried to mend the damage. “You get all left over.” She added quickly. “Fishery get good haul. Many fish.” she noted as they got closer, eying the fishing boats filled with sushifish, tuna, and even a few molid. “I've never actually had fish before…” Noodles said, wistfully. The smell reached its strongest when they finally reached the village, causing drool to drip from Noodles’ mouth into the water, and some of the dock below him. Aurora's mouth watered profusely as well, as due to the events of today, she had forgotten to hunt. She fought back the saliva, trying hard to retain her image, but drool eventually started to leak from the corners of her mouth. It pooled below her even as she walked through the village, leaving a trail of faintly glowing slobber behind her.
Ethan came over to Noodles, without his armor, and noticed the steadily growing wet patch beneath his head. “You look hungry.” Ethan said. “I am. The smells aren't helping either. Uh… Is that a rathalos?” Noodles asked, noticing the red wyvern being turned on a giant spit over a fire. “Yup. I've been busy hunting around the Moga Woods all day to help get more meat for you and Aurora.” Ethan said, laughing as he saw the fishmongress batting Aurora's snout with a broom, who had a torn portion of fishing net in her mouth. “Aurora, you're drooling everywhere. Stop bothering the fish lady and wait with Noodles.” Ethan scolded, stepping between her and the angry woman, and poking Aurora's snout a few times.
“But hungry.” She whined, her turquoise tongue slipping out of her mouth and sliding across her jaw. “Instinct think you food… Can eat?” she asked innocently. “No, Aurora, you may not eat me.” Ethan said sternly, guiding her back over to Noodles. “Please? Promise no chew?” She asked, giving him puppy eyes. “Do you realize how silly you sound right now?” Ethan asked sternly. However, he eventually gave into the look. “I’ll let you lick me, that's about it. No putting me in your mouth though. I only go in mouths for transport.” She gasped and drool splashed the ground below her. She grabbed Ethan with her forepaws and hugged him to her chest. “THANK YOU!” she cried, the mix of excitement and hunger causing her normal speech come out. “You're the best, dad!” The leviathan blurted, making Ethan glad that nobody here other than him and Noodles could understand her. The area beneath his eyes took on a redder hue when she called him dad. “Ethan, are you blushing?” Noodles asked in his head, but he didn't get any response.
Aurora let go after a moment, and Ethan took a few steps back. After looking to make sure nobody was looking, the leviathan lunged at him, and pinned him down, giving him very sloppy licks. “Man Ethan, you'll reek of safety for DAYS when she's done with you.” Noodles joked. Ethan would’ve sighed, but he’d rather not get leviathan slobber, or worse, leviathan tongue, in his mouth. The licking eventually degraded into just sucking on his arm, which admittedly was rather cute. After a while, she let Ethan get up, who was sopping wet, and most certainly did “smell of safety.” He tugged on Aurora’s paw. “Come on, let’s apologize to the fish lady.” He said pointing at the torn net that was still snagged in her teeth. He brought her over to the Fishmongress, and Aurora went up to the woman, making an apologetic growl before opening her mouth. “She says she’s sorry.” Ethan said. “She wants you to take the net back. It’s a little stuck.” The woman rather fearlessly reached her hand straight into the leviathan’s maw, and unhooked the net from her teeth. Aurora flexed her jaws a bit before looking back down at the woman. “It’s okay hun. Your just hungry. I get it.” The woman said, putting a hand on the leviathan’s snout.
Food soon came out, and Ethan made his way over to a large banquet table that had been set up in the center of the village. He took a seat at the head of the table, and the Moga Chief took the seat beside him. “Ethan! Why the hell are you so soggy!?” he asked, concerned. “Aurora, and speak of the devil.” Ethan said, as Aurora decided to lay down at Ethan's other side, across from the chief. “Decided it would be funny to slap me into the ocean with her tail.” he lied, but earned a cackle from the old man. “She's back up to her old tricks, ay?” he asked. Everyone in the village had found a seat, and the chief stood up, clearing his throat to get everyone's attention. “Everyone, your attention please!” He shouted in a strong voice. While everyone was distracted, he swapped the glass of wine he was given for an empty glass, and poured water into it. “Before we partake of this beautiful banquet laid out before us, I'd like to make a toast! A toast to Ethan! The Hero of Moga, and one of the finest hunters this village has ever known! He was like a second son to me, and it made me proud to watch him grow from a terrified boy, into a skilled, battle hardened man! When he left, he took a bit of everyone with him, but now he's come back home, and he’s more a man than ever before! In spirit, if not in body! To Ethan!” He shouted, tapping his glass against Ethan's. The sound of glass on glass, and people shouting “To Ethan!” echoed through the village for a moment, before a hush fell over them again. “And now, everyone, dig in!”

Nostalgic Refuge, Part 3 - Bottled Up
Ethan entered his old home from when he hunted in Moga. It was exactly how he left it, albeit a lot more dusty. There was that beautiful agnaktor fountain he had installed on one of the walls, and a few other decorations around the mostly sparse room. He stuck his head out the door. “Hey Noodles!” He called. “Can you blow in here please? It's really dusty.” Noodles nodded and lowered his head to the doorway. He blew a stream of air through the dip in his lip where the tongue normally slid out, and the force and volume of the gust caused dust to fly everywhere, even shooting out the windows of the house. There was so much dust that even Noodles sneezed. “Thank you.” Ethan wheezed, his eyes watering and coughing constantly whenever he wasn't in the middle of a sneezing fit.
Aurora made an odd gurgling noise in her throat that could be interpreted as giggling? While Ethan went through the old house, Noodles tried to get to know Aurora, despite her obvious reluctance to speak. “Hey Aurora, do you think you could show me around the island?” The abyssal lagiacrus nodded, before diving into the water. She beckoned him with her tail, and disappeared beneath the waves. Noodles followed her, and she brought him to a multitude of places around the island. The underwater ruins beneath the island, her favorite spot to sunbathe, and her den were just some of the places.
They rested on a wide ledge that soaked in the sunlight, overlooking the sea, Aurora’s favorite place to nap on clear days. The silence hung in the air between them, and Noodles started to get uncomfortable. When it became too much for him, he decided to break the awkward silence. “So, why were you attacking Ethan earlier?” he asked. “Playing.” Aurora stated. “Oh, your kind is one that plays by fighting with each other, right?” Noodles asked. Aurora nodded. “Is fun.” Then there was more silence, so Noodles spoke up to save the conversation. “That was actually really scary, when you caught Ethan. I thought you were going to eat him. He did too, actually.” Aurora looked at him apologetically. “Sorry…” she mumbled. “He deserve scare. Broke promise...” She said in her odd, broken way of speaking. “...Broke heart”
“He, broke your heart? How? He said you were his daughter, not his mate. Ethan doesn’t even seem like he’s into females. Or males for that matter.” Noodles said. He was confused, but he was pretty sure that pursuing the subject might coax her into speaking a complete sentence. “Not mate.” Aurora said, curling her snout in disgust. “Just father. He promise visits before leaving. I wait many moons for him, he never come. Give up after four winters. Cry long time.” she said, staring into the horizon. Her eyes glistened, and a tear slid down her snout. “Remembering makes me cry again…”
After a long pause, Aurora spoke, properly. “At the time, I thought he forgot about me. I became angry at him, and it grew stronger every day. I stopped visiting the village, and stopped helping them fish. I kept my own word, unlike he did, and still defended them. When I woke up, an new, but strangely familiar smell reached me. I knew it was human, but it also smelled of dragon, and that told me who it was. I was furious. He dared to come back after leaving me for so long, I was going to kill him. He was faster, more skilled than I remembered. The fighting stirred my memory, memories of fighting for fun. When he looked at me in that way, I knew immediately: He didn't forget about me. I couldn't kill him. He wasn't some stranger.”
Tears streamed down Aroura’s snout as she bore her heart. “I still wanted to punish him, so I kept fighting. Made him believe I was going to eat him. He never drew his weapon. He didn't want to hurt me. When I put him on my belly, I realized just how much I missed him. Love won out, and I couldn't hold back my affection, my joy.” She finally finished, and went silent, collecting herself. The tears slowly cut off, and Noodles spoke up. “Are you okay? Do you need anything or-?” “Don’t tell. Protect my pride.” She begged, returning to her simpler manner of speech. “It’s okay, your secret is safe with me.” Noodles said, nudging her with his snout. “We should go now. The sun is setting, the feast will be soon.”
