Let us not forget this day in history-6/6/44 aka D-DAY. Let me give you the scenario👇🏽 On June 6, 1944, General Dwight D. Eisenhower gives the go-ahead for the LARGEST amphibious military operation in history: Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of northern France, commonly known as D-Day. By daybreak, 18,000 British and American parachutists were already on the ground. An additional 13,000 aircraft were mobilized to provide air cover and support for the invasion. At 6:30 a.m., American troops came ashore at Utah and Omaha beaches. The British and Canadians overcame light opposition to capture Gold, Juno and Sword beaches; so did the Americans at Utah. The task was much tougher at Omaha beach, however, where the U.S. First Division battled high seas, mist, mines, burning vehicles—and German coastal batteries, including an elite infantry division, which spewed heavy fire. Many wounded Americans ultimately drowned in the high tide. British divisions, which landed at Gold, Juno, and Sword beaches, and Canadian troops also met with heavy German fire. But by day’s end, 155,000 Allied troops–Americans, British and Canadians–had successfully stormed Normandy’s beaches and were then able to push inland. Within three months, the northern part of France would be freed and the invasion force would be preparing to enter Germany, where they would meet up with Soviet forces moving in from the east. This is why I always knew where I wanted my retirement flag flown. So on the 70th anniversary of D-Day, that day came. @yayagoeswest had my flag flown on her ship AT NORMANDY. Each year on this day, June 6th - the Anniversary of D-Day - I always read Eisenhower's 'Letter In Case Of Failure'.⠀ ⠀ "Our landings in the Cherbourg-Havre area have failed to gain a satisfactory foothold and I have withdrawn the troops. My decision to attack at this time and place was based upon the best information available. The troops, the air and the Navy did all that Bravery and devotion to duty could do. If any blame or fault attaches to the attempt it is mine alone."⠀ ⠀ It's a reminder of accountability and the realistic human nature of having doubts, even when you are fully ready. Eisenhower made a mistake by dating the letter with the wrong month - July, instead of June - being so nervous. I am so pleased to see people commemorating the enormous contributions and sacrifices that our WW2 Veterans made to preserve our freedom. My grandfather, Edward Zukovich served in Battle of the Bulge in Central Europe (Belgium, Netherlands and Germany) as an ANTITANK GUN CREWMAN. In that position, he operated as member of crew of self-propelled or towed antitank gun used in destruction of enemy tanks and other armored vehicles. He served from 12/19/42 to 6/26/45. In commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Normandy Invasion, I want to express gratitude to the sacrifices of these incredible individuals and heros including my grandfather. It is hard to pinpoint the exact information that most of our WWII vets served since they rarely discussed their military service. It wasn't until after my grandfather passed away in 2004 that I was reviewed this information and learned about it in greater detail. Triumphant Prologue
On Easter Sunday, Christians throughout the world celebrate the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. The terse phrase, “He is risen!” (Matthew 28:6-7; Mark 16:6; Luke 24:6) denotes the greatest victory in history (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:54-57).
Amid the sprouting green and warmness of spring, we are reminded of the tenacity of Creation to survive and revive. Perfectly befitting the celebration of Jewish Passover, and the Christian celebration of Easter, these springtime observances resound the eternal truth that the enemy is defeated and Jesus Christ is triumphant.
When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” 55 “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:54-57 54
And by faith in Christ, believers also stand victorious with their foot squarely upon the enemy’s neck.
In all things we are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ who loved us. Romans 8:37
Christ Triumphant
In his well-known sermon, Christ Triumphant, Charles Spurgeon describes in exemplary English prose, the disarming of powers and authorities, and the triumph of the Cross over these enemies of mankind (Colossians 2:15).
If Christ on the cross hath spoiled Satan, let us not be afraid to encounter this great enemy of our souls. My brethren, in all things we must be made like unto Christ. We must bear our cross, and on that cross we must fight as he did with sin, and death and hell. Let us not fear. The result of the battle is certain, for as the Lord our Saviour hath overcome once even so shall we most surely conquer in him.
Christ has defeated Satan once and for all. But like the cyclical nature of the seasons, until Christ returns, we will encounter the children of satan time and again. More winters are sure to come. But they shall never prevail against the springs.
My fellow Christians and beloved Jewish people in America, once again we find ourselves against a particularly ruthless and heinous enemy. Two points make clear we should never be discouraged, but keep the faith.
First, the victory is won! The triumph is irrevocable. Already we live in the eternal springtime of a New Heaven and a New Earth, though not yet in its fullness.
Second, look no further than our own American history. Filled with evidence beyond a reasonable doubt, our miraculous past testifies to the Sovereign Lord God Himself responding to the prayers of His people over this beloved beacon of freedom.

History bears unquestionable witness that, in times of great distress, Americans have sought the providential intervention of our Almighty God.

Better known as D-Day, the Allies launched one of the largest amphibious assaults in history to liberate France. Over 160,000 soldiers primarily from the US, Britain, and Canada (as well as some French and Polish troops) landed on the beaches of Normandy to begin the Allied invasion of France. In 1943 at the Tehran Conference, allied leaders agreed to Soviet leader Joseph Stalin’s request to open a second front for Nazi Germany to relieve pressure off of the Soviet Union. After pulling off one of the most successful and largest deception efforts to prevent a German counterattack, the Allies went ahead with Operation Overlord. Secrecy and D-Day
As you may have already noticed in the headlines, today is the 70th anniversary of one of the most memorable military moments in our nation's recent history; the Allied forces D-Day invasion of the Normandy beaches in France.
In a world today where government transparency is becoming more and more desired by the general public than actions veiled in secrecy, it is interesting to remember that there once was a time when aspects of secrecy were viewed as being generally advantageous towards achieving our collective goals. The Washington Post reported this morning on one significant aspect of that secrecy:
D-Day is one of the most celebrated military operations ever. Less known, however, is the secrecy and trickery the Allied forces used to improve the invasion’s chances of succeeding.
It was no minor thing: Operation Bodyguard, as it was known, even included pulling legendary Gen. George Patton from the battlefield in Italy to take charge of a fake army — with fake tanks and all — according to the Patton Museum Foundation. Eisenhower did so in an effort to get Hitler worrying about a possible Allied invasion of Pas de Calais, an area of northern France that was much closer to Allied strongholds across the English Channel in Great Britain.
