The Hobbit Characters Meeting Your First Child Together (Wife!Reader)
Part 2 of this post! Time to find out who has daughters or sons first 😁 also requested by anon, but it was already drafted hehe~
Warnings: Blood mentions, birth complications in some (happy endings for all!)
Balin
Knitting was a bit of a struggle those days, you reflected as your elbows ached from bending to keep your needles above the curve of your belly. Balin sat in the armchair at your side, a hand idly drawing circles upon your thigh. Thus, he felt your sudden jerk, rose with you when you all but threw your needles and their work to the side table. "What is it?" He asked. "The chair," you cried out, "It's ruined!" Moisture seeped into the seat of it, a dark stain upon maroon velvet. "We can most likely get that out," Balin comforted you, a hand on yours, "But what is it?" "My water," you answered lowly, dread of realization creeping in on you. "What water?" "My water," you repeated urgently, dragging your husband by the arm, "I am going into labor!"
~
The only thing that got you through your labor was chuckling at Balin's attempts to hide his nerves, which somehow seemed greater than yours. Likely due to the way your body went into a near-primal focus, your every thought channeled not even into pushing your child out, but simply keeping them safe. Safe indeed, for soon a very loud cry pierced your ears. "Mahal," Oin remarked, dark eyes widening as he extended your newly-wrapped babe to you, "He's a strong one!" "He?" You asked. "He is strong!" Balin cried out, pulling you into his chest from where he stood, one hand reaching for your son, who immediately gripped his finger tight. "Oh, he is indeed!" "We did it," you sobbed into your husband's chest. "You did," Balin corrected, "I can't imagine how you endured all that." "All for him," you replied, gazing down at your son, whose eyes squinted open and blinked. Brown, just like his father's.
Dwalin
"Get out of the way! My wife is giving birth! Our child's coming!" All but shoving the crowds as he burst through with you in his arms, one hand wrapped less loosely about you so he could fling it out at offending pedestrians, Dwalin carried you down Erebor's halls all the way to Oin's. "It- It takes a long time, you know! The baby isn't coming right now," you stuttered out, jostled by your husband's brisk pace. "I'll not take my chances," Dwalin replied as he disappeared with you into the doorway.
~
"Stars above, why'd ya wait so long?" "Huh?" Your head snapped up from the bed you'd been draped onto, the world fading sharply back to focus amidst the pain. "You either took yer sweet time or else this is an unusually fast labor." Dwalin grinned down at you. "Now is not the time," you shot back, gritting your teeth. In the end, the agonies of labor were over for you in four hours' time. "Unusual all the way around," Oin remarked, settling the mewling babe in your arms, "You two've got yourselves a little girl." "'N she's going to look just like you, too," Dwalin told you, reaching a tattooed hand out to stroke your daughter's cheek and nuzzling against your head.
Thorin
Thorin knew by the way you gripped his arm, swiveled his head to meet your eyes and see your faint nod. Register the fear in your eyes and cup your cheek gently. He was prepared, bringing you a blanket to hold beneath you when your water began to seep through your skirt. Your husband led you by the hand as you waddled with the blanket between your legs all the way to Thorin’s most trusted healer, his old journey’s companion.
~
“You can do this. I have seen firsthand how much you can endure. You were made to do this, my love.” “I know,” you whined, unconcerned how pitiful you sounded for despite being a queen, at that moment you were a woman in pain. Pain that had gone on for hours, burning and tearing through your body. “The head is stuck,” Oin told you. “No,” you breathed. “I’m afraid I may have to widen the opening. Looking up to meet Thorin’s eyes, you simply tightened your grip on his hand, squeezing your eyes shut tight when the healer took up a small blade and letting out a cry of agony as he cut. Finally, though, blessedly, a weight lifted as your little one came free with a sound of confusion. Panting, you gave your husband a weak smile, sitting up a bit further and wincing at the pain, enduring to hold your newborn. “My son. Our son. A new prince is born to Erebor,” Thorin whispered, leaning down to connect your foreheads, warmth pooling even amidst the sweat glistening there, “I cannot take away your pain, but I will do anything in my power to be the best king, husband, and father you both could ask.” “You already are,” you told him, laying your hand over his, which was joined with your son’s.
Oin
"It's time, isn't it?" "How did you know what I was about to say?" You asked him, head cocked. "Because I've seen the signs a thousand times," Oin reminds you, "Now come on. Go get yourself comfortable. I've got everything ready." Patting your shoulder and kissing your cheek, he guides you to your bed and leaves the room, only to return with his supplies. "I'll go put the kettles on." "Why two?" "One to keep me clean 'n one for your tea." Oin had, in fact, told you about the tea he made patients to help with their pain. You nodded. "Of course. I trust my healer." The affection in your husband's eyes matched your own gaze as he disappeared through the door one more time.
~
"Yer doin' great." "I don't feel like I am," you cried. "Shh, I know," Oin soothed, making his way back up to your head to kiss you, "It'll all be over soon, though. Promise. In fact, can you give me one more push?” For all the frustration you may have felt, your husband was both delivering your little one and reassuring you. He was doing amazing for your baby and you could do the same. Whimpering and straining, you pushed until a cry pierced the room. “You did it! A wee thing, too. Oh, oh, love, it’s a girl! We had a girl!” Daughters were all too rare among dwarvenkind. Eyes widening and lips parting, you leaned over to let Oin wipe the sweat from your brow with one newly-cleaned hand after he handed over your daughter. Tears poured from his eyes as he rested his hand over yours that held your daughter’s. “I’ve seen this a thousand times, and yet this is like never before. Thank you for this gift.” Whispering your name, he guided you gently by the chin into a kiss of pure love and gratitude.
Gloin
“Are you alright?” Your husband’s voice was like a buzz beneath the ring of your ears, lightheadedness overtaking you until you felt a hand take yours and heard a louder, firmer call of your name. No anger colored it, just concern that had you finally swinging your head Gloin’s way. Soon as your eyes met his, you nodded faintly and smiled before the spots dancing in your vision won.
~
When you awoke, your brother-in-law was checking your pulse, nodding as you started. “She’s doin’ better,” Oin told Gloin, “Get back up there, she’s going to start pushing.” Shuffling back up from his brother’s side to yours, your husband took your hand, gently smoothing your hair and dabbing cold sweat off your brow with his sleeve. “I’m ready whenever you are,” he told you, and off you went into another haze of pain and encouragement and anticipation. Oin’s cry of victory actually alerted you both to the birth before the baby made a sound, emerging into the air with a small whine of confusion and near annoyance that had you and Gloin chuckling. The baby started crying as Oin checked him over, fussing in your arms as Gloin leaned down to rest his forehead over his new addition’s. “I’m a da. I’ve finally got a son of my own,” he whispered, tears welling in his eyes.
Bifur
“Bifur!” Plodding footsteps filled your vision as your husband tore into the room, almost careening into your dresser. Entering the room, his dark eyes widened as he caught side of you folded over, your water leaking onto your shared bed. “The blankets,” you panted, “I’m sorry…” Waving a hand and shaking his head, Bifur dismissed you, removing his gloves to caress your cheek and feel your forehead before he lowered you down and gestured for you to wait. Squeezing your hand when you nodded in agreement, he disappeared out the door in search of Oin.
~
Gasps sounded at your feet as Oin motioned for Bifur to join him and rake up a tool. Muscle memory kept the feeling and warmth of your husband’s hand in yours alive for another moment, but you all but forgot it in the panic of Oin tracing a circle around his neck. The cord was wrapped. Spears of ice pierced your heart as you watched your husband frantically aid the healer, eyes stone in focus and motions deliberate. After what felt like hours, you saw both their chests rest in exhales. “He’s alright,” Oin told you, “Your son will be just fine.” Crying out, you reached out your arms, embracing your husband and then sobbing into the blanket that held your new addition. You could tell by his wisps of black hair, the shape of his nose, that he was going to look just like his father. “Our miracle,” you sobbed to Bifur and Oin, “You are true heroes. Thank you. Our son will have no shortage of great dwarves to look up to.”
Bofur
“Bofur, my labor is beginning.” “Your what?” Wincing, you shuffled forward to clutch your husband by the collar. “Your child is coming, so I suggest you get some help unless you’d like to have a fun adventure with our rug later.” Swallowing, Bofur nodded. “Right. On my way.”
~
“And I’ll never forget the day I met you. When I saw you I thought ‘There’s simply no way she could be real’. Goodness me, if I’m not thinking the very same right now.” Bofur’s hand never left yours and his mouth never stopped moving, even if you were in no state to respond. Contorting with the pain, you cried out as your body gave its all, spending yourself for one last push. “See what I mean? Oin just caught the wee bairn. You’re all done! Just pushed a whole baby out all by yourself. Plain amazing’s what it is.” “And a girl no less!” Oin chimed in, slashing the cord as your daughter began to cry. “Hear that, love? A little dwarrowdam!” Smiling at your husband, you felt a tear slide down and mingle with the sweat glistening upon your cheek. Oin placed her in your arms and Bofur bent over to meet her blinking eyes. “Hello there! It’s me, yer da! I’m the one who’s going to buy you everything you want, alright?” “Not even five minutes old and she already has you wrapped around her finger,” you teased. “Damn right.” Bofur kissed her head, then yours.
Bombur
“Bombur.” “I’m on it.” Your sweet husband needed only a word to rush off across your home, fetching you a pot and holding it beneath you. “What’s this for?” “The water,” he answered, nodding down to where your skirt soaked through. “Oh,” you accepted one of the cold steel handles, “right. That works.” “You ready? I’ll get yer bag too.” “Ready as I’ll ever be,” you answer with a smile.
~
Taking a cloth, your husband wiped the sweat off your forehead gently, patting your cheek affectionately. “Still doing alright?” “Best I can,” you grunted. “Everything look good down there? Well, good as it can,” Bombur amended with a glance down to his old companion, who nodded. Bombur had been asking questions and checking in the whole times, not to mention keeping you as clean and comfortable as could be. Rather that annoy you, it made you smile to see how much he cared. You had a healer, yes, but a nurse also. “Almost here,” he said, “just a few more pushes, eh?” Exhaling sharply, you focused all your might, forcing your muscles harder than you thought possible until a wail pierced the room. “You’ve done it,” Oin congratulated you, crossing the room with a little bundle in hand. Reaching out, Bombur wrapped his hands gently around the little one, lowering your baby down to let you uncover her head, which already had whisps of red hair. "She's beautiful." "'Course she is," Bombur replied, nuzzling into your cheek, "Came out o' you, didn't she?"
Dori
"Love, are you alright?" "Yes." You paused, crumpling and wincing beneath the crash of more pain. "Wait, no. That is to say I've never felt this before. I think my labor has started." No more words were necessary; flitting about your home, Dori fetched blankets and a skin of water and all manner of other supplies. "Will Oin not have all we need?" "Can't be too sure," your husband replied, striding to your side and smoothing your hair before he caressed your face, blue eyes staring into yours, "I want you to be safe, you know. I love you." And what could you say? You loved him, too, for all his quirks and for that big beautiful heart.
~
"Is that normal? That's not normal, is it?" Oin had drawn you a warm bath, lowering you into the water and checking your progress. "What's he doing all this for?" "To relax her," the healer replied to your nervous husband with a shake of his head, "And yes, this happens. 's just a slow labor is all. Some of 'em rush on out and others take their time. I suspect your wee bairn is just in no hurry." No hurry indeed. For all your pains of labor, it was almost 20 hours to the minute before your bath ran red and plaintive cries of confusion drifted into the air, Dori's fretting and even apologizing to you for putting you in this position turning to gripping your hand and all but leaping in anticipation. "You did it," he congratulated you quietly, embracing you without care of the water, sweat, and Mahal knew what else soaked you. "You sure did," Oin agreed, smiling as you accepted your little one, whose face was still red from crying, "She's here." "A daughter," Dori whispered, "A little girl! All my dreams are coming true and it's all thanks to you. How could I ever thank you? You'll never want for anything, neither of you, not love or warmth or all the pretty things you'd ever want."
Nori
Nori’s arms were snaked around your middle when you jerked forward, pushing his hands away. “For goodness sakes, you could’ve just said you didn’t want to-” “No,” you waved a hand frantically, feeling the gush of liquid trickling out, “My water just broke, Nori. It is time.” “Right now?” “Sorry if it’s inconvenient for you,” you sassed. At that, your husband smiled faintly and shook his head. “Not at all. In fact," he quipped, "I was a bit bored.”
~
“Push!” “What does it look like I’m doing?” Now your ire is focused on Oin, bringing many a snicker forth from Nori. At least until you crush his hand with a steel grip, crying out and falling limply against the sheets on which you lie. “That felt like something. Am I done?” “Almost,” the healer replied, his head popping over the curve of your heaving body, “The other head’s coming out now.” Double-taking between Oin and you, Nori bursts out, “The other head?” “Congratulations,” Oin agrees roughly, hands glistening with blood as he cuts a cord, “You’re a strong one, my friend- you made two at once!” At that, he bursts into a raucous laugh, gingerly transferring each of your sons into Nori’s arms. Bringing them closer, your husband grins like a dwarf showing off his most precious gems. “Look at that, love, two for the price o’ one. Our handsome little lads.”
Ori
Ori had been asking you every day at just about any hint of discomfort if the baby was coming, jumping up before you could tell him no, just a hard kick or your back troubling you again. Thus, the same he had done that day, so caught in the fray of his actions that he failed to think about why you weren't stopping him. At least, that was, until you finally met his eyes with a nod and a nervous smile that sent him pitching sideways. Only, of course, to promptly catch himself and, wide-eyed, take your hand and lead the way.
~
"You sure you want 'im in here?" Oin asked you, peering up with a teasing glint in his eye. "He looks more afraid than you do!" "He is my husband," you replied indignantly, tightening your grip on Ori's hand, "And I am quite certain I would faint too if I saw the head half-stuck right now." "Oh, beyond half," the healer told you, "Couple good pushes and I daresay you'll be done." Hearing Ori's gasp of excitement had your eyes shining with even more determination than the older dwarf's words, and focusing all your might you pushed and pushed until you felt a weight lifted, your body relaxing. "He's out! A little lad, too!" "Hear that?" Ori turned to you, gathering you up into his arms. "We've got a son! Our son is here!" "'N he's a gentle thing," Oin told you, laying him in your arms, "Didn't even fight me." "He's sweet," you gushed at the sight of your son nuzzling into your bare skin and leaning up to kiss your husband's cheek, "Just like his da."
Fili
“I think I’m in labor.” “You think?” Blue eyes wide and golden brows raised, Fili stares incredulously at you. “I feel it. I feel the pain. But where is my water?” Glancing back up, you see your husband inhale sharply, exhale and steady his expression. Truly a king in the making. “Oin will know,” he tells you, urgently but calmly, “Let us go.” Nodding and taking a deep breath of your own, you take his hand and make your way.
~
Labor indeed. All the other signs matched and soon- or far sooner than you had hoped- you are pushing, Fili’s hand firmly clasping yours and his head resting atop your own, braids dangling over you as you pant and work. From your feet, you see the healer’s eyes widen and lips part, rounding in surprise. “Is something wrong?” “No, no,” Oin shakes his head, “This is simply a marvel. Your heir coming in a veiled birth.” Frowning, you immediately ask him what he means. “See for yourself,” he replies, showing you the reason your water had not broken. The baby had emerged still inside the birth sac. “Does that harm them?” Fili asked. “Not at all. This is just a very rare sight. You may not want to watch this part.” Fili took both of your hands in his, leaning his forehead against yours as Oin extricated and cleaned the little one. “A veiled babe and a girl. What are the odds?” Accepting your daughter, you grinned up at Fili. “We have a princess!” “Our little queen in the making,” your husband agreed, caressing your daughter’s cheek as a rear rolled down his, “A true miracle.”
Kili
Poor Kili- you had been sitting on his lap when the break happened. Venturing your name with the utmost caution-and fear of your hormones- your husband asked, “Do you, by chance, need help getting to the lavatory?” Shaking your head even as it was hidden in your hands, you told him, “No. Kili, that was my water. The babies.” “Now?” “Now,” you agreed with a nod. Shooting up from his seat and all but yanking you into his arms, he lifted you bridal-style. “Kili, you’ll get wet!” “Already am. May as well give the babies as much time with Oin as possible.”
~
As much time ad possible being a near-record-speed delivery of three and a half hours. “Impatient little buggers,”Oin teased, tossing aside a red-stained cloth, “But strong little fighters. The sister kicked especially hard!” Chuckling, he lowered the aforementioned girl twin into your husband’s arms, handing you your son. They squirmed considerably less when you held them, both of you loosening your upper garments to hold them against skin. “She gets it from her mother, no doubt,” Kili teased with a wink as if he wasn’t crying, “But the good looks? That’ll be us both. This is all so beautiful. This is the most beautiful thing beyond anyone's imagining. Thank you for being the one to share this with me.”
Bilbo
"Are you sure I can't get you anything?" "Yes, Bilbo," you chuckled despite the pain coursing through your body, "All I need right now is to have you with me." "And Matilda," your husband named your neighbor and midwife who was on her way. "And Matilda," you agreed with a faint nod, "Now come here. Please." "Of course, dear," Bilbo agreed, shuffling across the room so quickly you could hear every hard step clattering off the boards.
~
"Is she going to be alright?" "Yes, she's still doing great," Matilda replied with an equal mix of amusement and exasperation at your husband, who leaned over to speak to her and immediately balked at the sight of your body dilated, a head beginning to emerge. "I- I feel a bit faint." "Try being me," you shot back as he returned to your side fully. "You're right," he nodded, fingers curling even tighter around yours for the last pushes. After what felt like ages, Matilda finally called up "Cutting the cord!" Her voice barely rose above the cries. "Hear that?" "I do," you answered Bilbo with a nod, tears welling up in your eyes. "You should be proud," Matilda told you, cleaning up your babe and handing her off to the pair of you, as both of you extended hands simultaneously, "She's beautiful." Bilbo lowered her to where you lie, pushing back the folds of her blanket so her skin could touch yours. Wispy hair curled atop your newborn daughter's head. "I never thought anything could be so beautiful, but here we are," your husband told you, voice barely above an awed whisper, "My girls."
Thranduil
"Thranduil." Your husband smirked at the way you panted his name, glancing upward only for that very expression to melt into horror at your buckling knees. Rushing to grasp your hand, he simply says, "It is time, is it not?" Nodding, you allow him to lead you all the way to the healing chambers, breathing heavily and wincing with each crashing wave of pain.
~
Despite his wide eyes, your husband keeps calm and speaks well the entire birth. "Focus on what is above you," he distracts, golden voice soothing as ever, "What do you see?" "Branches," you breathe, huffing with the force of your latest push, "Lights." "Remember the festival of starlight?" "I daresay that was when we conceived," you grunt, "Remind me to write an edict discontinuing it." At that, Thranduil simply chuckles deeply and winces at the way your voice breaks into tears. "Good," your midwife encourages you, "One more push, My Queen. One more. That is it. Find your strength." Your face contorts in frustration, but you comply, body wracked with one final stab before lying still. "Well?" Thranduil immediately asks. "Is the child healthy?" "Small, but breathing very well. A lovely little princess, My Lord." "My little princess," he all but gasps, head swiveling back your way, "Our daughter is here." A weight falls into his arms, and leaning down Thranduil reveals your little gift to you. Eyes still closed, your daughter wails and reaches for the air with delicate little hands. "Our beautiful woodland princess."
Feren
"Feren." "Yes, my love?" "Feren," you breathe with greater insistence in your loss for words, "I think it is happening." "Right now?" "Yes," you sit up in bed, throwing the blankets off your lap and inhaling sharply. Luckily, you have no need to tell your husband twice; he all but bounds across the bedroom to retrieve your things and find a robe to wrap you in, one hand guiding you up and to the side of the bed. "Breathe, breathe. One moment; I will fetch help." At first, you were reluctant to release his hand, but finally you nodded and let him go. When he returned, a midwife rushed to your side where you squatted and your husband to the other, where he took your hand and immediately winced at your vicelike grip.
~
Both you and Feren were red in the face and streaked with tears before you heard the wail; your husband from the pain of his hand and of hearing and seeing your body, voice, and expression all rent in agony. Every head in the room turned to face the sound, though, pain almost forgotten. With a soft white cloth that quickly reddened, your midwife cleaned the skin of your newborn. Who was, by the looks of it... "A son! My darling, a son is born to us! Our little boy is here." "Let me see," you cried out, reaching your hands for the elfling extended to you and lowering him to the bared skin of your chest. He was beautiful. "Perfect," you sobbed, "He is perfect." "Just like you," Feren adds with a kiss to your forehead.
Bard
The moment you crumpled, Bard took one look at you and nodded solemnly. “One moment,” he told you, rushing back into the house and calling requests to the girls. Through a wave of pain you saw Tilda hand her father the bag you’d packed as he made his way back to your side. You felt your hand clutched tightly again. “We make for the midwife’s.” At that, all you could do was nod. Luckily for you, she lived close enough that you needn’t take a barge, though the increasing difficulty of hurried walking and weaving through crowds of fisherman and sellers almost had you wishing you did. Your husband called to them to move, his wife was in labor, and luckily many of them began to part at that. All too soon another wave of pain came and Bard hoisted you into his arms, carrying you over the raised threshold of the wooden house that was your midwife’s home.
~
Hours. Hours it took, hours that wracked your body and soul as your mind was kept knit only by the grace and care of your husband. The midwife's care as well, of course, but all memory beyond the veil of pain went to the feeling of his hand around yours. Bard's grip, warm and solid right up until the moment cries filled the room. "It's a girl," the older woman breathed from at your feet, "A healthy little girl." "A daughter! Oh," Bard told you, bringing your baby closer, "The girls will be thrilled. And look, see how she looks just like you." Looking down, you pushed aside the blanket from your newborn daughter's head, seeing soft strands of hair the same color as yours. "As I had hoped," your husband added.
Beorn
“Three babies. Remind me again why it had to be three babies.” “My people commonly-” “I know, I know!” One arm slung over your shoulders and one tightly gripping your waist, Beorn led you from the garden back into the house. “Do you care to lay or to squat?” “Squat,” you panted. Acquiescing your request, your husband releases you at the bedpost once your hands leave his to grip the wood. “Let me boil some water. I will be right back.” Sometimes you wished he would be less serious. This was not one of those times. Calm washed over you at the sheer capability Beorn displayed, the confidence so present or so well affected. Taking a deep breath as a contraction hit, you attempted to mirror his manner.
~
“There was one. How do you feel?” “Lighter,” you groaned in between pushes. “Glad to see you have yet to lose your sense of humor. That one was a boy, my heart. Our firstborn son has arrived.” “A son,” you breathed, wincing as another massive contraction came. “Yes, yes, that is it.” A second cry filled the room, this one a bit quieter than your son’s. “And a daughter. Only one more. Whether you know it, you have the strength.” Finally a third set of cries filled the room, these the loudest by far. “Another son. Two boys and a girl.” Smiling, Beorn gently lowered one of your sons into your arms, the other babes swaddled in each of his. “This one looks like you,” you remarked, smiling at your husband though you did not bother peeling your eyes from your new baby yet. His eyes were well occupied with your daughter anyhow. “And I can tell this one will have her mother’s eyes. Much more beyond that, we can hope. …Hope. For my people after so long.” Eyes falling shut, Beorn let tears of joy and relief flow from his eyes before bringing you and his other son into one massive embrace.

Okay HELLOOO so i wanna request Thorins company with a reader who is very feminine and pretty and stuff, but simultaneously very bossy, assertive, dominant and likes telling people what to do and stuff?? If that makes sense lol
Have a good day/night!!!
HI!! This was such a fun one to write! I'm not sure if it answers the questions correctly, but I just got lost in the sauce with this one and went crazy, lol 💖😂
Balin: Balin admires your assertiveness. He finds it very fitting for you to be in command with your no-bullshit, bossy attitude. Balin would regularly turn to you for support, and he always trusted your honest opinions. He saw you as his advisor when he advises Thorin. Plus, your appearance only adds to your ability to persuade others…who could say no to those beautiful eyes. To him, you are a double threat—both in personality and looks—who can command respect and loyalty from anyone.
Dwalin: Dwalin is in love. The moment you started leading the group and demanding respect, he was captivated. Not to mention, your looks took his breath away. He loves a dominant, commanding presence who can lead a group, demand attention, and know their way around a weapon. *wink wink* Dwalin will always have your back, just as you have his. To him, you are an incredibly capable person.
Óin: Oin is glad you can handle yourself. The second you joined the group, he feared you might need constant protection, but you quickly proved him wrong. You instantly became an influential part of the group, guiding Thorin's decisions, earning the trust and respect of the group, and even outshining some of the most seasoned warriors. Your presence reassured Óin that you were vital to their mission.
Glóin: Link Oin, Gloin had doubts but was quickly shut up when he saw you fight. Your skills…your knowledge… your command. You dominated the battlefield, earning his respect. Even with blood splattered all over you, you were still gorgeous. Since then, Glóin has been ready to drop everything and listen to you, knowing you are someone worth following.
Bifur: Bifur is inspired by your assertive personality. You don't address the group broadly; instead, you call out each person, demand perfection, and engage in personal, intimate conversations. You look at each one of them as their own person. He likes that you take charge while ensuring everyone is seen and valued. You inspire him and make his heart soar whenever you call out his name with a wink.
Bofur: Bofur is lost in your beauty. He can barely focus on what you say when his mind drifts to how soft your lips look when bossing around the group. How your brow furrows when something isn't up to your standards. How you let your guard down just a little when someone compliments you. His mouth goes dry, and his knees are weak whenever he's near you, lost in admiration. Sadly, your commands are lost to him.
Bombur: Bombur is scared of you. You are one wickley, intimidating person. Your commanding presence and fiery attitude make him cautious not to cross your path. However, he can't help but steal glances, admiring how the sunlight dances on your skin. Although he is scared, he starts to think he might have misunderstood you. Maybe there is more to you than a bossy attitude—he might even start looking up to you.
Ori: Ori finds your personality and appearance to be a sick joke. How could someone some sweet, so tender, so feminine bark such harsh orders? He is caught between feeling like he must listen to you and listening to his brother, Dori, who seems to contradict everything you say. Ori is lost but knows that all he wants is to follow you, even if it means going against his brother's wishes.
Dori: Dori is confused and conflicted about you. He feels like he should dislike you and how you boss people around, especially his brothers. But at the same time, he can't help but admire you and how you can control situations, get his brothers to listen, and cooperate. It's a love-hate relationship for Dori, as he both resents and respects your ability to lead.
Nori: Nori grumbles whenever he hears your commanding voice directing the company. He hates being told what to do. He hates how your face will twist into a smirk when he jokes with you, and you already have a comeback set up. He hates your soft smile, and he hates that he loves hearing you say his name. But he especially hates it when he finds himself obeying your commands without hesitation. Hate is a strong word for Nori…he just hates how you make him feel. Yet he could never fully hate you—not when you look like a perfect creation of Aulë, as beautiful as Yavanna herself.
Thorin: It's complicated. Thorin constantly feels like he is competing with you, as if you're planning to undermine him at any moment. He glares, snarls, and pushes past you, rejecting your demands. Yet, there is one thing he is a complete bumbling idiot about—your laugh. The way you laugh is dangerous. It's infectious, bold, and handsome, and it takes his breath away. Despite all the tension and jealousy, when you laugh, Thorin feels safe, and all his competitive instincts vanish.
Fíli: "Yes, mommy!" Fili is utterly devoted to you. Your commanding orders make his heart race, and your beauty leaves him blushing. He often finds himself staring, and when your eyes lock, he waits eagerly for your sass —he craves it. Fili would do anything for you. He would get on his knees for you, worship you, even die for you.
Kíli: Kili can be a bit of a brat when it comes to your authority. He laughs at the way you hold yourself, demanding respect and directing the group to do things. Pfft. He practically hates it, wanting to prove that he's your equal. But when you snap back at him and grab his shirt, he finds himself caving. "I'm not listening to you," he might say, but the moment you respond with, "I'll make you listen, Kíli," he's putty in your hands.
Bilbo: Biblo is a little ass. The first time he met you, he thought you were a perfect copy of Thorin. Both of you are beautiful, alluring yet domineering and controlling. He rolls his eyes at your bossy attitude. But over time, Bilbo starts to realize how utterly wrong he is. He sees you as protective, loving, and a material figure for the group. His initial distaste and sass fades, and he soon comes to see you as his rock. He needs that when all seems to go to hell during the journey.
Gandalf: Gandalf trusts you completely. He knows that with you around, the group is in good hands, which is why he leaves so much in the movies. Your skills and wit speak for themselves. You're quick to take charge in high-intensity situations, yet your feminine side allows for more compassionate, loving care. Gandalf wouldn't have come to you for help on this important quest unless he trusted you to keep the dwarves in line.

(The Hobbit) Imagine: Holiday in Erebor
Author's Note: Hello! Here's a snippet of something cozy and cheery I wrote a few years ago and never got around to posting. You can decide who it is at the end that requests you sit beside them!
Additionally, I just wanted to say I wish everyone a Merry Christmas! For me, it's a time to be grateful for loved ones and of course, most of all, the real reason for the season!
Word Count: 708
Warnings: None
Description: You join the Company for a celebratory holiday feast!
Erebor had truly been a sight to behold when you first arrived. The halls were numerous and so vast. Everywhere you looked, there were displays of the dwarves’ handiwork and ingenuity. It was beautiful. You understood why the Company had gone to such great lengths to win it back from Smaug the Terrible.
Once the mountain was reclaimed, it became a home to the dwarves once more. You’d only heard stories about Erebor in the olden days when the halls were filled with bustling trade and friendly chatter. Night after night, your comrades told you of its wonders, but you’d never witnessed it for yourself.
You imagined that it was much like it is now, with the Company settled there and their relatives flooding in- so utterly warm and welcoming.
Especially this time of year. You walked down the dimly-lit hallway, the lovely scent of evergreen trees filling your nostrils as you passed lanterns that were decorated with the branches. The harsh winter weather had ushered in a season of cheer, and the entire kingdom was celebrating. Everywhere you went, there were woven banners of red and green, holly leaves adorning every dwarrowdam’s hair, and warm spiced beverages passed around. Feasts were always merry occasions, but more recently, they had become even more grand with special meats and desserts.
It was spectacular, and you felt so fortunate to have been invited to stay and enjoy it. You traveled with the Company at the request of Gandalf and became very close with the group, and when Erebor was reclaimed, you were offered a place there. Thorin stepped into his role as the rightful ruler, and Fili and Kili respectively as princes.
As pleased as you were to remain with the Company, there was one in particular that you were glad to be near. He had become the object of your affection over the course of the journey, and your feelings continued to grow as more time passed. The cheerful, cozy season made you wish you could have him as your own, with all the happy couples that you passed every day and dined with. The longing to have someone to kiss and huddle close to for warmth in the cold weather grew stronger each day
As you approached the dining hall, the chatter that had echoed down the passageway grew louder. Booming laughter, the clink of goblets, and jingle bells filled your ears.
You paused just before the doorway to smooth out your red and green gown and check your hair in the nearby reflective gold ornament. You couldn’t help but think of how beautiful you looked, and you hoped that he would think so too. With a deep breath, you stepped into the doorway. The hall was filled with long tables, but there was one table in particular you headed straight for.
It was the Company’s table, complete with specially-adorned seats for those who had made the hard journey to reclaim Erebor. Thorin sat at the head with Fili and Kili’s chairs on either side.
“There she is!” Bofur announced with a grand gesture and a wide grin. “Why, lass, we were just talking about you! Wonderin’ when you’d be joining us!”
“Here I am,” you laughed. Dwarves weren’t sticklers for punctuality, so no one took offense to your slightly late arrival. You were met with many smiles and boisterous greetings as you neared the table.
“Why, don’t you look lovely?” Balin complimented. He smiled kindly from his seat beside Fili. Dwalin was on his other side, chewing a large bite of roasted meat. “Absolutely lovely, my dear.”
“Thank you, Balin,” you said. “As always, it’s a pleasure to see you all. How is dinner?”
“Dinner is delicious,” Dwalin piped up after a loud swallow. “But don’t take my word for it, see for y’self.”
You smiled. “I definitely will. Everything looks fantastic.” You turned and headed toward the other end of the table where there was an empty chair. Before you had even taken two steps, Balin’s voice rose up.
“Wait, dear. There’s a seat for you up here. A certain someone has requested it.”
Heart thumping wildly in your chest, you halted and glanced over your shoulder to see who it was that made the request.

the hobbit + hozier songs
characters included: kíli, bilbo, dwalin, thorin, nori, bofur, ori, fíli, dori, tauriel
word count: 1166
a/n: the amazing and precious @wordbunch inspired me to write these bc of her lotr/th characters as taylor swift songs posts & i couldn't be more excited to finally post this labor of love!! thank you bestie for listening to me scream abt this for nearly two months lol
kíli: foreigner’s god
he loves outside of his race and this fact causes undue scorn to be thrown at his feet. it’s unheard of for almost any dwarf, let alone one from the line of durin, to do such a thing. this does not deter him - it empowers him; if his heart could go against the traditions forged into his bones, molten in his hot blood, how could it not be true? the strength of his love is what helps him ignore the doubts shouted by the prejudice plaguing those who know nothing of his heart. that, and the sound of your laughter at his antics, the soft smiles only given to him when he’s being a little too charming… he could go on.
bilbo: like real people do
as much flack as bilbo gets from the company for not being conventionally tough, he’s not weak by any means. he’s familiar with the pain of loss, and how the ways one tries to rise above the grief that follows aren’t always savory. he knows there’s a respect to be found in the absence of prying questions, choosing simply to coexist in the feelings and allow answers to come in their own sweet time. he’ll put some tea on to cook and scrounge up some leftovers from the previous meal, sitting beside you and letting the comfort flow naturally, his soft lips soothing the most tender aches.
dwalin: work song
just looking at him, you wouldn’t think dwalin a sap. but with his insanely strong sense of loyalty and stalwart dedication, he can’t be anything but. he’s faced down innumerable evils in his time, braved the fiercest of storms that many of his comrades didn’t; none of them even come close to keeping him from you. your arms welcome him home without question after each fight he braves, and your letters tucked into secret compartments in his armor keep him warm between embraces. he’ll read them by the fire every night when he’s away, every gentle word carrying his mind away from thoughts of the day’s turmoil.
thorin: sedated
this sweet, sad man doesn’t think he deserves good things in life. this, unfortunately, includes having someone love him despite his flaws and past mistakes. he couldn’t resist admitting his feelings for you and was ridiculously shocked that you reciprocated & allowed him to love you. on nights when he feels his failures deeper, he’ll try to convince you that he doesn’t deserve you. vitriol will escape from worried lips and terrified heart, piercing you in the way only a lover knows how. a soft kiss, gentle words, and a few strokes through his hair will soothe these wounds from him for a time and allow him some of the peace he’s fought to find, but doesn’t always believe is earned.
nori: it will come back
it was decades since the last time nori thought of love, even longer since he believed himself worthy of it. meeting you only solidified his disbelief; how could someone look at him and see someone that deserved such a pure thing, after everything he’s done in his life? he’s stolen, lied, cheated, and killed to survive (and sometimes not for mere survival). his attempts to spurn you away from him only increased your determination to break through the fortress he built around himself. he could only be strong against your advances for so long before he crumbled, reluctantly accepting the love and peace and safety you offered so freely.
bofur: nobody
bofur’s done a lot in his time. he was born in the blue mountains, a colony that never seemed to find the prosperity needed to do more than simply survive. he is a brother, uncle, cousin, friend, toymaker, miner, member of the great company that reclaimed erebor. but through all his adventures and hardships, he never lost his playful streak. he wants to have fun with who he loves, wants a little bit of mischief to make his laugh louder and brighter. bofur is a fun-loving soul who, despite his wandering past, will always choose you over anywhere that you’re not.
ori: francesca
ori’s life has never been a peaceful one. being raised by dori and being followed by the whispers of his late amad’s reputation (not to mention nori’s) without a mountain to call home, it weighed on his shoulders. even his craft, the pride of every dwarrow worth their beard, happened to be one seen as miniscule in importance compared to smithing. every moment spent with his one, doing anything or nothing at all, eases the burden he carries and makes every moment of strife worth it just to be with the soul made to mirror his.
fíli: i, carrion (icarian)
your love for him seems almost too good to be true, the remnants of stories told in dusty tomes written by those with far more eloquence than he can claim to possess. that being said, he is definitely not one to look a gift boar in the mouth. he relishes in each tender moment, every second spent in your presence that carries him far beyond the constraints life has placed upon him. but he recognizes that life isn’t always so simple, retreating into your arms and wishing that everything around you both just disappears. there’s always reality, waiting patiently outside of your chambers for one faulty misstep to throw you both askew. that’s why he dedicates himself to showing you that if life does what it does best and deals harsh blows, he will be there for you through it all.
dori: shrike
dori never had time for love; he had two brothers to protect, one more wily than the other was young. his focus was on getting his brothers through the days, putting food on their plates and the semi-frequently used stash of bail money well-stocked. he allowed his feelings for his one to fall to the wayside in the name of preservation. he ignored their call for decades and braved out the pain that came with such a silence. he begged for his one’s forgiveness every time they called for him. but once the mountain was reclaimed and his brothers safe, he yearned for what he could have had. he would approach his one with much regret and sorrow for the time lost, but a pure hope that they could find forgiveness in their heart for him.
tauriel: unknown/nth
to earn her love is a feat unlike that which the world has known for a long time. being seen as worth all these mortal struggles and painful toils in the eyes of an elf, let alone one as fierce as tauriel, is quite the achievement to anyone outside looking in. to the red-haired warrior in question, though, giving her love to you has the same unthinking ease as breathing; it’s beyond instinct to do and just as necessary to her survival. you’re worth every century spent alone, every moment after knowing you spent away from you.

~Arrows and Dragonhide~
Kili Durin x {DragonShifter} FemOC Part 2/?
A/N- blegh, im stuck in bed being sick so im writing this and listening to Offspring
Word Count- 1.6k
Summary- The journey to reclaim Erebor has begun, and with it comes the dangers of Middle-Earth.
Warnings- Canon typical violence, talk of death and torture, will be 18+ in future chapters
Previous Part Next Part
Gandalf stands in the foyer of Bilbo Baggins hobbit hole, pipe brought up to his mouth and faint smirk on his lips. Eyja has seen that look on the bearded man before and it ended with her having to fight off a group of trolls. "What meddlesome plan is on your mind now wizard?" Her tone is jesting but her expression remains quite serious. "Are you scheming on how to get me fighting another band of beasts?"
The grey wizard laughs quietly so as not to wake the few dwarves sleeping nearby, "Young shifter I promise you that instance was truly accidental." His face breaks into a grin at Eyja's raised eyebrow and skeptical expression. "I was merely pondering the path we shall take tomorrow."
"'Young shifter', you do remember that I have been around longer than you have right?" Gandalf nods, smile soft on his face.
"It was merely a tease, I am fully aware of your age Eyja. Now if you'll excuse me I do wish to get some sleep, there is a long journey ahead of us." The cloaked man then walks past Eyja, soft footfalls fading down the dark hallway. Spinning on her heel, Eyja trods towards the living room. Finding an empty corner, she lowers herself smoothly to the floor leaning back against the wall and letting her travel weary eyes drift closed.
As the sun begins to peak over the emerald hills of the Shire, Eyja finds herself being roused from her slumber by a gentle hand pushing on her shoulder. Her golden dragon-like eyes are met with the sight of Kili kneeling beside her.
"Wake up, we're going to be leaving shortly." His voice is quiet so as not to disturb the other bustling around you. Nodding slightly, she brings her hands to her knees and begins to rise eyes turning to the window, seeing birds flit past in their early morning travels.
"Good morning Master dwarf did you sleep well?" Her voice is rough with sleep and her eyes half open as she gathers her set aside bag and blades. Tucking her slender sword into her back sheath and her smaller blades into their various places, she lets her gaze drift back to Kili's face.
He lets out a small chuckle, "Whatever happened to just calling me Kili, Eyja? And yes my rest was quite nice." Eyja swings her bag onto her back and starts towards the entryway of the large hobbit hole.
"My most sincere apologies Kili."
"I will find it in myself to forgive you." They both laugh quietly as they swing open the door and step out into the slightly chilled morning air. The large green door creaks slightly as it closes behind the pair, Eyja brings her arms over her head in a deep stretch hearing her back pop. Kili steps up next to his dark brown pony, tying his pack to the back of his saddle, running a hand down the ponies neck.
Mr. Baggins' door opens one more, the rest of the company pouring out and walking to their respective ponies, Gandalf stepping up the the shifter and dwarf.
"Eyja, Kili, good morning, I trust both of you are ready for our journey ahead?" as the two nod he turns to the tall skin changer, "Will you need a horse or will you be walking for our travels?"
"I will be walking, I figured I would be able to keep up relatively easily."
Kili turns to her, "Are you sure? You could ride with me if you want to."
Eyja waves her hand dismissing his offer, "It is truly no problem Kili, I am perfectly capable of keeping up with the company."
"Alright, but the you should at least let me carry your bag for you." Kili holds out his hand for Eyja's bag, she sighs heavily feeling the dwarf wont let her win this. She swings the bag off her shoulder handing it to his outstretched arm. As he ties her bag down atop of his, the dwarrow surrounding them begin to mount their steeds. Gandalf begins to steer his horse down the rolling hills of the small hobbit town, the long line of ponies following closely, Eyja walking between Kili and Fili's mounts. They are only travelling for half an hour before the sound of footsteps racing towards them stops the shifter in her tracks, head turning quickly and hand darts to her dagger.
"Eyja? what is it?" Kili's voice is tense with worry as he swings his pony around.
"Some ones coming." Her voice is low and flat. The rest of the company now stands still, hands laying on their weapons.
"Wait!" The voice from the trees is familiar and causes Eyja's tense stance to relax, "Wait for me, I signed it!" Bilbo Baggins bursts into the small clearing the long paper contract trailing behind him as he run towards the company. He approaches Balin on his white pony, holding out the paper to him, as Balin reviews everything to make sure everything's in order, Kili turns to his brother.
"I told you he would show up, hand over your coin brother." Fili rolls his eyes before tossing his coin pouch over to his brunette sibling. Eyja giggles at their interaction and grins as they lift the hobbit onto a pony ahead of them.
"How are you feeling, are you getting tired?" Kili turns sideways in his saddle to speak to the woman walking swiftly next to him.
Eyja smiles, "I'll be fine Kili this is not my first time walking alongside horses, and I doubt it will be my last." The dwarf nods still feeling uneasy over the skin changer walking when the pony was more than capable to carry them both.
"Alright, but do tell me if you want a break."
The company of Thorin Oakenshield travel through the forest for most of the day till the sun begins to get low in the sky, Thorin orders the dwarrow to tie up their horses and get a fire going. Kili and Fili sit against the cliff wall as the other dwarfs lay around them, some of them sleeping and other doing their own things. Eyja sits by the fire, sharpening her blades under the warm light, large pointed ears perking up every time Bilbo tosses and turns on his bedroll. She watches as he gets up with a mighty sigh, wandering over to his pony slyly pulling out an apple and quietly feeding it to his steed, the skin changer smiles as he shushes the pony, but the smile immediately drops as shrieks come from the forest beneath them.
"What was that?" Bilbo's voice is panicked his eyes wide.
"Orcs." Kili's voice is hushed and his eyes wander over their camp, catching briefly on Eyja's stiff figure. Thorin jerks awake as Bilbo repeats Kili's answer, his blue eyes scanning the forest in a mirror of the shifters golden gaze.
"Throat cutters," Fili gestures with his pipe, "there will be dozens of them out there. The lowlands are crawling with them." Gandalf turns his head catching Eyja's unamused expression.
"They strike in the wee small hours when everyone's asleep. quick and quiet, no screams just lots of blood." Kili's addition to his brother statement has Eyja standing up from her place by the fire. him and his brother snickering slightly, not noticing Eyja approaching on silent feet.
When she speaks her voice is low, anger clipping her words, "You think that's funny, you think a night raid by orcs is joke?"
Kili averts his gaze as she stares at them her yellow eyes shinning eerily in the firelight, "We didn't mean anything by it."
"No you didn't, you know nothing of the world." Thorin's voice interrupts, his own tone harsh. Balin approaches the small gathering and leans on the cliff face.
"Don't mind him laddie, Thorin has more cause than most to hate orcs." As he launches into the tale of Thror's death and Azog's defeat, Kili notices Eyja rubbing at her arms, as if trying to shake of hands that aren't there.
"And the pale orc, what happened to him?" Bilbo's voice is quiet and unsure as he turns to face the eldest of the dwarves. But Thorin speaks before Balin is able.
"He slunk back into the hole from wenst he came, that filth died of his wounds long ago." The look shared between Gandalf and Balin does not go unnoticed by Eyja and she bristles at the thought of Azog still roaming the continent.
The shifter settles back down beside the two dwarven princes, and Fili moves to speak but she stops him with a finger. "I know you two meant only to joke, but as your uncle stated, orcs are nothing to jest about for they have committed such atrocities that it haunts many of this company." Her tone is stern but light and she resumes sharpening her weapon beside the dark haired dwarf, her posture finally relaxing from its stiff position. Both Kili and Fili nod, and the former of the two knowing she is one of the few in the company who's is haunted by the actions of orcs. As the hours of the night stretch on Eyja finds herself leaning on Kili's shoulder as her mind tires, and her eyes begin to close.
She feels a blanket being draped over her body, and she drifts into unconsciousness, the heat from the fire creating a soothing warmth and dim light.

Favorite Star
Masterlist
Wordcount: 927
Summary: Nori is a bit of a dork on Valentine's Day, but a dork in love.
The day had started out like any other, until you joined the group of dwarves heading to Dale to pick up some last-minute things for Valentine’s Day with their ones. Nori had told you to meet him there, that he had some plan for the two of you, but you found yourself at a loss for where he was when you got there. To kill some time, you were meandering around the market stalls, and spotted a certain dwarf propped against the stone corner of a nearby building.
He had his eyes on you, and was smiling as if he’d been watching you wander around for a while. His head was slightly tilted to the side, and when he noticed you were watching, he straightened up and shot a wink your way.
You went over, wondering why he had been keeping his distance all morning, but before you could ask, he uncrossed his arms and took your hand up in his. He pressed a kiss to your knuckles, and ran his thumb over the same area.
He was rarely so tender in public, it had to be the holiday. Dori insisted that it was you that had turned his brother into a sap, and he had thanked you for it a few times since you two had gotten involved. You weren’t sure if you were the reason, you were sure he was always such a sap underneath it all.
“Looking for something?” He asked, snatching you from your thoughts, “Or perhaps, someone?”
“I was wondering where you were.” You said, “I thought you said we would spend Valentine’s day together?”
“We will.” He promised, keeping your hand in his as he started away from the market stalls.
“Where are we-?” You started to ask and he grinned over his shoulder.
“You’ll see when we get there.” He said.
He led you through parts of Dale you had never been before, until he pushed in the door to a building and snuck you in before he gently pressed the door shut behind him.
“Follow the stairs.” He whispered, pointing ahead of you.
“Why are you whispering? Are we even allowed in here?” You asked, beginning to worry about getting in trouble, “Nori, we should go.”
“We won’t get caught.” He assured you, and with some little more coaxing, he got you to go up the stairs.
There was a crack in the structure when you reached the top, and Nori lead the way through it, dropping his feet below to land on roofing. He held a hand up to you, and you followed his lead, squeezing his hand as you stepped down.
“Wow, this is high.” You breathed, looking away from the ground and to the dwarf who was leading you further up, “What are we doing up here?”
“You’ll see soon enough.” He said, propping a ladder against a neighboring tower, “Ladies first.”
You eyed him skeptically, and he gestured to the ladder, “I’ve got to keep it steady for you, don’t I?”
You agreed, that was fair, though you knew he must’ve had something else up his sleeve. When you got a few rungs up, he whistled, and you couldn’t help but laugh at him.
“The view doesn’t hurt either though.” He teased, as you continued to climb.
When you reached the top, you saw it was a flat surface, now covered in a blanket with pillows nearby and a small table.
“You set all this up?” You asked, turning to see him resting on the ledge beside you. You kissed his forehead, and he beamed, before climbing over the ledge to join you.
He revealed a dinner as well, that was cooked over a small fire as you two sat and enjoyed one another’s company.
Eventually, night fell, and you reclined onto the pillows to look at the sky, while Nori poured second glasses of wine.
“Look at the stars.” You were still amazed at how brightly they shone, no matter how many nights you had spent beneath them, they were still breathtaking.
Nori hummed beside you, before reclining with his glass, and handing you your own. You set yours on the blanket beneath you, holding it steady with a hand on the rim.
“They’re not half as beautiful as you.” He swore, taking the moment to kiss you.
When you pulled apart, you looked at him for a moment before grinning, “You know, with your hair like that, you’re my favorite star.”
He looked at you curiously for a moment, before throwing his head back in laughter, “I really beat out the millions of them up there? What an honor.”
“No competition.” You swore, resting your head on his shoulder. Another moment passed in peaceful silence, before you thought of something, “Hey, Nori?”
He hummed a reply, raising his cup to his lips as you finished your thought.
“How do we get down from here in the dark?” You asked, pulling back from your sitting position to look at him.
For a split second, his eyes went wide, “Not a problem, dwarves have rather good eyesight in the dark.”
“Good enough to climb a ladder backwards?” You asked.
“They won’t miss us for one night.” He changed his tune, waving for you to recline with him again, “After all, this is rather nice up here with you.”
You had to agree with him on that, “Thank you for this Nori, I had a wonderful time.”
“Who said it’s over?” He asked, grinning as he swooped in for another kiss, “We’ve got all night now.”

The Hobbit Characters + Pregnant Reader (Wife!Reader)
I just love fluff ok and, say it with me, I did this for LoTR 😁 (you can think of the older characters’ as being set when you guys are younger, not during book/film events 😊)
Warnings: conception mentions, some implications of infertility, pregnancy-related illness and symptoms, very long post 😂
Balin
✧ Five years. For five years you had tried. Six you and Balin had been married, happily as anything, but children never came. Your struggles had broken you down, leading you to try all the remedies well-meaning elders and healers alike recommended. Eat more good, strong foods, less of that greasy stuff. Drink this tea, it’s great for women! It’s only a bunch of tiny needles- the pain of birth will be worse anyway. Don’t be so active, let yourself relax for Mahal’s sake, girl! Remedy after remedy, you put your body through it all and put your hands up and prayed. Weeks passed and you had taken ill, attending the healers’ just to get something to ease your nausea, and that was when the questions began. Illness forgotten, you wandered in a grinning daze out of that hall and straight into your husband’s arms. When he chuckled and asked what this was all about, all you could do was snuggle into his chest deeper and whisper “It’s finally happened.”
✧ Such years leant of course to Balin being a bit extra protective of you. You often chastised him, good-naturedly of course, that he hovered so over you, and every time he would simply kiss you and say "That's right".
✧ It brought you both to tears when you began showing, when your condition had persisted long enough to be real, to last beyond the known months of danger. Forehead pressed against yours, your husband held you tightly and warmly for some amount of minutes you did not know, but minded not at all. Balin's words of love and reassurance were as music to your ears.
✧ Hormones confound you some days, pulling you from peace to ruin in mere moments, but Balin is always there with warm arms and wise words, reminding you that whatever you may think, you will never be alone.
✧ The one time during your entire pregnancy that you saw Balin cry was the day you brought home a tiny red coat that looked just like his and showed it to him with pride glowing in your eyes.
✧ He is so calm during all the worst sides of your condition, standing right by you through the good, the bad, and the ugly and dusting and cleaning you off each and every time. "We fought hard for this," he reminds you, "And I'll keep fighting with you every step of the way."
Dwalin
✧ You had wanted children all your life, certainly, and you'd seen Dwalin around them a few times, but what would he say? Your husband was a renowned warrior, hardened in the face of blood and steel and tolerant of no foolishness. But still he went soft as clay when his beloved wife fell into his arms. Thus that night you softened him up but good with all the great food and affection you could muster, so much that you had him remarking what a wonderful home he'd been blessed with. "And would you be willing to share it?" At that, your husband rose from his chair, hands tensing at his sides. "You don't mean-" "I do," you nodded. Without warning, you were swept up into Dwalin's arms, hoisted gently into the air with a giggle. "Just when I thought Mahal couldn't bless me any more! My beautiful wife, with child."
✧ Cue the two of you bickering back and forth like, well, a married couple, about who the child is going to look like. "I'll have 'em look just like you, thanks." "I for one relish in the thought of toting around a miniature Dwalin." "Come now," your husband teases back, running a hand over his shaven, tattooed head, "If they look like you they'll have better hair!"
✧ Dwalin has tiny wooden swords and axes made in time for your little arrivals, ensuring the axes match his to a tee.
✧ He sleeps flush against you now, head leaned against your growing belly and one hand firmly atop it like a lovely little line of defense.
✧ You have him absolutely wrapped around your finger, even more so now. Bat your eyelashes at him and make any request and he melts like butter. You’ll never want long for anything you crave!
✧ Admittedly he knows very little of a woman’s workings, but the moment he hears all your explanations he dubs you as great a warrior as he! “Beautiful as the stars and strong as the mountains to boot! That’s my girl.”
Thorin
✧ He has waited so long for this. So many years of this hanging pressure and yet when he has you by his side, all the feeling of necessity behind trying fades away. You two can simply enjoy life. So when you return to Thorin's side one day, eyes brimming with tears, all you say to him is "It's happened". And with that you see your king, your husband, collapse as if his whole body is sighing, pulling you into him like he needs you to breathe. One hand reaches up to hold the back of your head, gently caressing your hair.
✧ Vows every day that he will protect you both, be the father and husband you deserve, taking your hands in his and then leaning down to address both his queen and your child.
✧ Thorin also assures you that despite what any members of the court say, your new addition will be equally loved and equally worthy of the throne whether you welcome a son or a daughter. "All I wish is a healthy child with their mother's heart." "And their father's good looks," you tease in response, pulling your husband in for a kiss.
✧ You begin stealing his clothes, stating that his tunics are so much more comfortable than your dresses with an innocent bat of your eyelashes that has Thorin relenting every single time, heart rent at the way they begin fitting you tighter.
✧ You see a different side of Thorin in this stage of your marriage, one you’ll never complain about, not when he softens so, gazes down upon you with such love as he hovers over you, kissing your lips, your neck, your belly.
✧ There is no denying that you both glow during this time, pride and joy illuminating Thorin’s features right alongside the radiance of your childbearing state. Everyone stops you to say what a beautiful couple you are and you cannot help the flush of heat that rises to your face as Thorin thanks them and guides you away from the crowd, a protective hand on the small of your back
Oin
✧ Predicts it before you even realize because you’re exhibiting all the telltale symptoms; annoyed as you may be by his insistence that you are with child, what do you know? Oin is right. Oin is, unfortunately, also quite smug about this. Once the initial triumph wears off, though, he’s shouting for joy and crushing you with a hug!
✧ The absolute dream husband to have when you're with child, for he has worked taking care of countless dwarrowdams in your condition. He knows what you need. He understands. And most importantly, he does not judge.
✧ In fact, you two get a kick out of poking fun at the other husbands who roll their eyes at their wives' demands or take shots at their cravings because, frankly, that could never be you. "He doesn't know her body needs more iron!" "I bet he moans and groans about grabbing her a pillow, too."
✧ Having married such a well-known dwarrow, you’ll have all manner of strangers approaching you with congratulations that you reluctantly just accept, correctly assuming they’re patients of Oin’s that he’s proudly blabbed to.
✧ He’s always asking you to guess if you’re having a boy or a girl, insisting that “‘tis the mother’s intuition, after all.”
✧ You insist on remaining on your feet as long as possible, and your husband does not protest, knowing that exercise is good for the baby. That doesn’t mean he won’t be right behind you to catch you if you fall or check on your precious little bump, though, of course.
Gloin
✧ Not so subtle in his so-called 'baby fever', your husband has been going on and on about how his child will be his little flame, the apple of his eye, his world. You have no fear, then, sharing the news, in fact you amuse yourself by dropping your state in conversation like the plainest fact. "I'm glad you've got those new blankets, dear, what with the baby coming in winter and all," you told Gloin, taking a sip of your tea. Deafening is the only word you can use to describe the roar of celebration he gives, wonderfully bone-crushing and teeth-rattling your embrace and kiss.
✧ Tackles you to bed almost every night the first week, covering your cheeks and belly alike with kisses.
✧ Spends that very same time period sharing with absolutely any soul who even remotely listens that he’s going to be a father!
✧ Gloin is very insistent upon your care, even taking it upon himself to make your meals by hand. Which, suffice it to say, is a bit disastrous the first few times but he emerges triumphant in the end and succeeds in filling you with all the hearty things your budding dwarrowling needs!
✧ Being married to a dwarf means you have a husband who absolutely adores the extra pounds you put on and has no qualms about showing you in and out of the bedroom! Even just stopping by the market he’ll be wrapped around you.
✧ Encourages the baby every time they kick, shouting out praise of their strength while you tell him to cool it, all those kicks are going to you!
Bifur
✧ A large part of him thought that he would never be able to experience fatherhood. Not since the injury, and that had happened at such a young age. You cut right through that fear, assured Bifur that he would be an amazing father regardless of if he did some things differently. And that he would soon see, for your family would be growing early the next year.
✧ In all honesty, you feel blessed to have a husband who signs, for your baby will likely be able to communicate early! When you tell Bifur this he breaks out into tears, for what an angel you are to see the beauty in him. Every side of him. He promises to do the same.
✧ And make good on that does he! You will never want for love for even on your illest days Bifur is right by your side, his caresses gentle and speaking volumes of adoration.
✧ Absolutely adores jumping into the bath with you! His excuse being he has to help you and may as well rinse his beard off, but you can see how eager he is to run his hands over your hair and see the way your body relaxes at his cleansing touch. He wants nothing more than to feel useful, needed, and you assure him you cannot do this without him.
✧ Again and again, in fact, on the days when he stands behind you, holding up your burden and cheering you with little jokes and flirtation in Khuzdul even as you are overcome with exhaustion.
✧ Proudly tells everyone who will listen that he’s got a little warrior in there whenever the baby kicks!
Bofur
✧ You hadn’t exactly been trying. You hadn’t exactly been not trying, either. The news comes to you through a haze, muffled by the great rush of other thoughts bombarding your mind and sending your heart beating, but at their heart comes the image of Bofur holding a little one and bouncing them upon his knee and your chest flutters and soars. Your visit is completed all in smiles, and upon returning him to your husband’s questioning about the flu you’ve gone in for, you tell him it likely will not go away until the end of the year. “The end of the year? Why ever that long? I’ve never heard of a flu like that, not even-” “‘tisn’t a flu, my darling,” you smirk at him, “it’s a baby.” “A- you’re- we’re gonna have a-” Bofur is all agape, stepping closer and hovering his hands over your middle like he doesn’t want to grip you in a way that breaks you. “That all right?” You ask, half-teasing, for he has recently confided in you his envy of Bombur’s family. “All right? Song of my heart, I could kiss you!” “Well, what’s stopping you?”
✧ If you thought Bofur was affectionate before, well Mahal be with you, for you haven't seen anything yet! He falls even more in love with your body knowing it's carrying his and your child, hands nearly always holding or roaming you. When you're out and about, your husband usually has a hand at the small of your back, supporting the weight you carry as you walk and running soothingly up and down. Kisses all over your belly in private.
✧ This lends to how quick your husband is to reassure you on days you don't feel so friendly with your body, those times when you'd like nothing more than to shatter the looking-glass. "All I see," Bofur tells you one day, a hand on each of your shoulders as you peer together, "Is the most beautiful thing I've ever laid my lucky eyes upon, and she's not got an easy job. If I were her, I'd be proud of myself. Proud of making a comfortable home for our little one. And if I was her husband, why, I'd take her as she is right here and now! Right nice for me I am her husband, eh?"
✧ “Imagine havin’ a little girl.” Lying side by side, you heard Bofur’s wistful tone and felt a small smile creep onto your lips. “I’ll do her hair up in braids and tie them with ribbons. She’ll have all the pretty things she wants, because I have mine right here,” he adds, turning over to caress your belly and pull your lips into his.
✧ Marrying a toymaker comes with distinct perks: your husband crafts the most magnificent little wheeled contraptions and carven animals for your new addition! He spends hours carving and glazing them, and sometimes you catch him having fallen asleep at his workbench when you struggle to stay in dreamland, covering him up with a spare blanket.
✧ You worry because the baby doesn’t seem to move much, but Oin confirms everything seems to be going fine. “Your wee bairn just got this one’s personality, it seems!” He jokes, stabbing a mock-accusatory finger Bofur’s way.
Bombur
✧ A baker's dozen. For as long as you've known him, that's how many wee ones Bombur purported wanting. Thirteen more than most dwarves have, you always tease him, but in reality every time you see your sweet husband with children and hear him dream of a family your heart leaps. That is why the moment you take his hands and tell him it's come true is special, intimate, a quiet draw in and out of breath that has him sobbing joyously and nuzzling into your embrace with so much love your chest bursts from the flight of it.
✧ Sixth senses never seemed real to you until you became pregnant and it was like Bombur knew what you were craving and was making it before you could even say anything!
✧ Cannot keep away from you. Always wants to be kissing you and cupping your cheeks and holding your hands, just so so sweet!
✧ Bombur is so much more good-natured than you, for all the jokes about how you'll be as big as him soon have you swinging, but he just holds you back and laughs alongside them, saying he's looking forward to it with a twinkle in his eye.
✧ Literally baffled if you ever feel bad about your body; his legitimate confusion alone halfway snaps you out of the sad reverie, and all the following words about your beauty and your husband's appreciation of every inch does the rest.
✧ "You know I'll keep you safe, right? Both of you," he tells you one day, a hand resting upon your bump, "I may not be some great warrior, but Mahal help anyone who comes between us."
Dori
✧ From even before you were actually wed you knew that Dori would be an excellent father. Having taken care of his younger brothers from quite an early age, he had knowledge atop a naturally caring personality you fell for. Gentlemanly Dori waited with you, keeping chaste until after your wedding, but once it is official you know your news could come at any time and you accept that. On your one-year anniversary, in fact, your first gift to Dori is the tiniest bracelet of fine amber beads. “Does this mean…?” As soon as he sees you nod, Dori is taking you in his arms, cradling you gently as if you were made of fine porcelain and thrice as precious.
✧ Caring father-to-be. A little too caring. "If those are too heavy for you, I can carry them!" "They're just books, I'll be alright, Dori." "Oh, don't eat that, you got sick last time." "I haven't been sick in a month!" "That's a lot of steps, should I carry you?" "...Actually, sure."
✧ Always sleeps with his arm wrapped around your middle. No exceptions.
✧ Has every manner of tea and remedy you could desire on hand or otherwise purchases it. Same goes for supplies- Dori even found a ring-shaped cushion for you to lay on! He has your back for any ailment and is often there to make or apply your cure himself. After all, he wouldn't trust anyone else to do it!
✧ You love this dwarf with all your heart. He takes it upon himself to find dwarrowdams willing to let him practice changing diapers on their wee bairns and surprises you with this newfound skill when you return home one day!
✧ Dori’s love of the finer things absolutely carries over into his future fatherhood, as he has the loveliest little velvet clothes made and procures the dearest little bejeweled hairbrush. All in all, both of you amass far more than you need because any time you go out it inevitably devolves into you two clasping your joined hands between each other, gushing over all the wee things, and taking them home!
Nori
✧ He never thought he would get married at all, let alone have a family, but as time goes on the desire to continue his lineage and finally settle down takes hold. Then suddenly there he is desperately trying to seduce you into trying for a little one! It doesn't take long, not with his charm, until the day comes when you teasingly tell him that he got his way. Smirking until the realization takes hold of him, his arms are then snaking around your waist to pull you close.
✧ Always talking about how he's going to teach his little one everything he knows. When pressed about it, responds with such things as fighting and picking locks. His defense? "What if 'e gets stuck somewhere, or-"
✧ Impatient! "When am I gonna be able to feel 'em?" He asks, a hand upon your belly, which has yet to display any changes. "Not for another few months, Nori! I haven't even begun to show!"
✧ Hides things sometimes or puts them up places you can't go just so he can swoop in and help you, saving your day and pressing a kiss to your cheek as he tells you he can handle it, don't you worry your pretty little head.
✧ Nori always teases you when he pours himself a drink. "Bet you'd like some of this, huh? Not for three more months!" He chuckles. Your brows furrow. "Three months? What about when I'm feeding?" "What does tha- oh. Does that really-" "Yes, yes it does." "By the stars, I could have got my baby drunk!"
✧ Talks to the baby quite a bit, especially when he finally can feel the kicks. "Where you running off to, huh?" He chuckles, feeling the flutters against his hand pick up. "That's 'cause of me, isn't it? You hear me? That's right, it's your da. Can you believe it? Me, your da! I'll take good care of you, you hear?"
Ori
✧ "Ori, dear," you implored your husband, "Might you knit something for me?" Looking up from the scarf he'd just finished, Ori's eyes fell upon you and he gave that smile, the special one reserved just for you. "Of course. What would you like?" "A wee pair of booties," you replied, hands clasped and expression dreamy. "Who needs booties?" He asked, head cocked. "We will in the fall," you answered, stepping closer and resting a hand upon his. Ori's jaw dropped. "You... I... We-" Smile widening, you nodded. "I. You. We," you agreed.
✧ Nearly from the first day you know you are with child, Ori is rattling off names. After tossing out a great deal, he finally pauses and gives a sheepish apology. "I'm sorry, I suppose I've thought about this a lot," he confesses with a grin, "I just can't believe it's happening." Your hand joins with his, resting over your little bump. "Neither can I. It's like a dream."
✧ "So," you ask Ori one day, leaning your chin upon the couch where you'd lain, "What should our plan be for when my water breaks?" Your husband's brows furrow. "When your what?" "Oh, no," you mutter. Cue Ori spending his afternoon receiving a great multitude of lessons. What he got for being raised by other dwarf men, you suppose. "That really all happens to you?" He asks, gaping at you as though you came of the Valar themselves. "Yes, it does. Birth is a great deal of work. They don't just run on out, you know!" "Yes, I know. Of course I know." Ori's voice is faint; he excuses himself and you assume it's to faint or be sick, but about an hour later he returns bearing gifts. "I'm sorry I'm putting you through all that." "Sweetheart," you chuckle, cupping his cheek, "You know it takes two, right?" Your sweet husband reddened, but he nodded.
✧ Ori takes on almost all the cleaning himself- you haven't even asked! Finally curiosity gets the better of you and you inquire as to why he's gotten so into housekeeping. "Well, aren't you tired?" He asks simply, innocently, and you wonder how you got so lucky.
✧ He also knits far more than that pair of booties you requested- all three of you will have matching sweaters before your little one has arrived!
✧ Ori's favorite thing in the world is sitting with you in his lap, one hand cradling your growing bump and the other holding a book as you two take turns reading aloud, filling your cozy hollow with the sounds of voices your little one will come to love. The books are hand-drawn, written, and bound by him, of course!
Fili
✧ You two speak of little ones so much it borderline infuriates the others, Kili himself even bursting out in frustration one day at yet another interruption about tiny clothes, "Just get her pregnant already!" "Good idea. See you later," Fili replies, scooping you up and carrying you off bridal-style. "Wait, I- Damn, brother..." In reality, Fili just carried you around the corner and set you down while you two burst out laughing, but about a month later your tries were in fact successful!
✧ Honeyed words were no trouble for your husband before, but now? Praise falls endlessly from his lips. "Never did I think you could get more beautiful, and yet each day you succeed beyond my wildest dreams."
✧ Fili has a near-magical sense for your new struggles of coordination, all but flying to your side to catch your hand or waist whenever you trip or even whenever you must rise up again from your seat!
✧ He loves to tease you, asking what disgusting thing you'll think of him to fix next or joke that he can finally beat you in a fight in this state, but every joke is punctuated by the most loving eyes and gestures that they cannot do a thing but warm your heart and make you chuckle.
✧ Your baby is very active, kicking all the time! "We've definitely got a little Fili in here!" Your husband exclaims with a grin, hand resting atop your belly to feel your little one's exuberant motions. "A strong babe for sure," you sigh, "Much to the pity of my ribs!" "Too bad we aren't having a Kili. Nice and lazy for you." "Hey, I heard that!"
✧ He turns his head, peering over his shoulder at you as you waddle after him, golden hair cascading down. "Care for me to slow down a little?" "I care for you to shut up," you shoot back, crossing your arms and fighting your smile.
Kili
✧ The thought crossed your mind far before it did your husband's. Not that Kili had no desire for children, it was simply that the possibility was all the more yours to consider. It took a visit from your young cousin, who had Kili wrapped around your finger, for the fire to light in your husband's head as well, a smile lighting up his face. "We- we could..." "I know, Kili." You could and you certainly did but a few months later.
✧ "I hope they look just like you." "Me too." Kili pulls his head out of the crook of your neck. "Hey, that is the part where you say 'no, I hope they look like you'!" "I'm doing the work of carrying for how long again? Nine, ten months? Least they can do is resemble me a little," you shoot back with a smirk.
✧ It was Oin who brought the news: "Both babies seem healthy as far as I can tell!" "Both?" You gape. "Both babies?" "'s right," Oin replies, "I know I can't always hear the best, but I haven't been wrong on a heartbeat yet. You can feel 'em." "Guess we did pretty good, eh love?" Kili teases, earning him an elbow to the ribs, but he just shakes his head and tugs you closer against his chest. "Should we make their names confusing as well?" "Don't you think it might get old for them?" "Fili and I switched names plenty of times and we aren't even identical!" You should have known.
✧ Kili takes to sleeping facing you, close enough that sometimes your cheeks brush. Others he slips down lower and you awake with your husband cuddled up to the bump of your belly.
✧ Will come running from any room, anywhere, to feel the babies kick, and also loves tugging along any of his family he can take, too. Childlike wonder fills your husband's eyes every time and pride glistens in his dark eyes when he's brought along his mother, his brother, even his uncle the king!
✧ Never once do you doubt yourself or have one moment of room for insecurity, for Kili still flirts with you as if you were tweens and sneaks all sorts of touches, pecks, and affectionate hands in your hair wherever he can find it! The notion of a baby destroying the romance of your relationship is laughable to you, who married a dwarf that has no shame telling you you're the most gorgeous creature to walk the earth and warm his-and the baby's in a different way-body.
Bilbo
✧ Bilbo's a perceptive hobbit. He knows something's off with you. You don't usually scurry around the way you are like everything has to be perfect. That's his job. "Something the matter? Are you... expecting someone?" Your husband follows you down Bag End's hall as he gives his inquiry, eyebrows shooting up at the look on your face when you turn around. Consternation, resignation, finally a smile. "I was going to tell you after dinner," you answered, "But since you asked it like that, yes I am expecting someone. Our child this spring." At that, it was Bilbo's turn to shift through expressions. Shock, realization, finally a smile.
✧ Nursery shopping has become Bilbo's favorite pastime. Baby Baggins isn't arriving for months and yet your husband is returning from market with all manner of trinkets for the shelves and paper for the walls. You cannot help giggling at his armfuls of supplies and kissing his cheek as you relieve as much of his burden as he allows you to.
✧ So sweet, always helping you dress, pulling on every garment with the utmost of care and even avoiding your reflection on days you feel bad. Quickly kissing each part of your body before he covers it with something he knows will be comfortable.
✧ You'll be eating well whether you like it or not! Bilbo will make you anything under the sun if it means you and Baby Baggins are getting nourishment and he certainly will not have you skimping! Anything that makes you sick simply is not allowed in Bag End at all, end of discussion.
✧ One night, you awake to soft whispers and your heart melts at the sight of Bilbo resting his chin on your growing bump talking to the baby. Not uttering a word, you simply watch, taking in the moment beneath the sheen of tears in your eyes.
✧ "Careful, careful," Bilbo is always telling you, holding your hand and guiding you over the smallest of obstacles, even little puddles and rocks.
Thranduil
✧ He has talked about getting you pregnant before, but speaking of it and doing it are two entirely different things, especially with...well, words of such nature. Thus, you find yourself nervously wringing your hands before your husband as he strokes your face, asking whatever is the matter. At Thranduil's touch, his intense gaze, you fin yourself melting and admitting all, confessing that you are expecting his child. You are certainly not expecting the way his confident smile utterly falters, dissipating in favor of the look of a man near tears. "Truly? A little one of our own?" "Yes," you whisper, finally able to smile as the tension melts from your body, which is soon pulled against the Woodland King's. "Long have I dreamed of this day, my love."
✧ One of his favorite new activities is commissioning you new maternity dresses; you will certainly have plenty to wear if Thranduil has any say about it! In addition, when the time comes of course he requests that you model them for him.
✧ Thranduil loves to sneak up behind you, lightly wrapping his hands about your waist and laying them atop yours, his head resting in the crook of your neck and breathy, pleased laughter warming the skin there.
✧ When you start showing, oh, he loves it. One more sign that you are his, utterly and truly his queen, his beloved, claimed by Thranduil in every sense. He follows your lead, a hand around your waist, letting you shine like the gem he knows you to be. Rarely will you two be seen apart, not when the king can bask in your glow, relish the eyes upon your beautiful form, heavy with his child.
✧ There is one day he catches you in tears and heart tearing he steps to scoop you up against him, cheeks held gently in his elegant hands, which begin to glitter with your tears. "My rings no longer fit," you sob, head falling to his chest. Thranduil holds you close, grip loose as though you might break. "That is not your fault, meleth nîn." "I feel so... so massive." "Who wishes a small dwelling, hm? Piteous thing not to have any comforts. Your body is a host of life, the vessel of a bloodline. Beautiful in all its forms. Never forget that, oh dearest one."
✧ Thranduil is experienced; he knows many little tricks to help you feel better, be they massages or ways to bear your weight. He impresses you with the knowledge he has of the ways of women, understanding your water breaking, dilation, and every complication the healers warn you about and telling you before they even do!
Feren
✧ First to know was neither you nor your husband, but rather your cat, for she had suddenly become your little shadow, following you about your home and taking rest upon your lap as often as she could. "I wonder what it is that got into her," you commented one afternoon, smiling and stroking her back. "Growing up, ours got like this when my mother was carrying my younger sisters. Both times. It was like he could sense it," Feren replied. You both sat in smiling silence for a moment longer before simultaneously straightening, looking each other right in the widening eyes.
✧ Gets a little flustered, frankly. Not so much at your news itself, simply the realization sinking in that he is to be a father. He, Feren, will have a child. He says this out loud several times before suddenly breaking out into a smile. You tease him for going through half his emotions at once, but now the wave of joy has swept him up!
✧ Playfully rolls his eyes and mock-complains every time you remind him that he has to clean up after the cat now! Subsequently adds that he would fetch you the moon if you asked it.
✧ Loves helping you bathe the more difficult your condition makes it, scrubbing your hair with such care and gently massaging your sore feet and ankles as you wash up. Despite your husband's skill in battle, Feren's hands are the most loving and delicate you could ask for.
✧ Your husband has a natural tendency to rise early, so now that your sleep has become more fitful you do find that you have more time to spend together. Your head falling to his shoulder as you whisper to each other, seated as you are upon your bed with blankets draped over your shoulders.
✧ Feren wins your heart time and time again, like the day he lowered you down gently onto the grass of a sunny meadow, basking with you and weaving flowers. He made you a ring, crowned you with a wreath of flowers atop your head, and made another little one to place gently on the curve of your belly, bringing your heart to soar.
Bard
✧ Uncertainty wracks your heart and wrings your hands at the would-be-cheerful news. In fact, you yourself do feel joy, have since your suspicions were confirmed, but would Bard see it the same way? He already has three mouths to feed, three children all old enough to take care of themselves. Will he wish to start it all over so? "What's wrong, love? Your lip is bleeding." So it is. You've practically gnawed the poor thing off in all your stewing. A sigh escapes you. Bard is your husband. No sense in delaying a very necessary conversation. "I know we should have spoken more about it..." You begin, trailing off. At once, Bard senses your reservation and rises to your side, taking hold of your arms; the love in his dark eyes brings a small smile to your lips and relaxes you slightly. "I'm with child, Bard." Almost childlike is the wonder and joy spreading across your face, and before you can say another word you are being pulled into Bard's chest, face snuggling into the fur of his coat.
✧ He knows what to expect, naturally, so Bard is definitely not the type of husband to gripe about your requests, though he does smirk and poke fun if you’re especially outrageous with it or have a funny enough delivery. Then kisses you if you pout about it before fetching what you seek.
✧ Caution overtakes you and your husband as you make to tell his older children the news, particularly you, but your wringing hands relax when you can see the joy in their eyes, particularly the girls! They hope the baby is another girl, hugging you so tight you almost cannot breathe, but you complain not.
✧ Happy is Bard to take on assistance cooking; he knows it can make you sick sometimes and besides, it's a nice excuse to make sure you get all the nutrients you need! You are certainly very lucky in the skill and domesticity of your spouse.
✧ Stands behind you and reaches his arms around you, lifting up the weight you carry and smiling, kissing your neck and cheeks as you relax from your burden.
✧ He also has no qualms about making you rest, down even to physically lifting you up and carrying you to bed if he must!
Beorn
✧ Hesitant as he always would have claimed to be about bringing more Skin-Changers into a world so cruel to them, Beorn feels his nesting instincts kick in very quickly after you become his wife. You see it in the things he gathers, the way your husband moves things such as your blades to higher, safer locations. He is anticipating something. Something you cannot help pulling him aside and asking about, and when your feelings on the subject are made known, well, it is entirely possible you conceived that very night.
✧ Beorn has an almost eerie sense for all the changes taking place in your body. You feel a sharp pain in your back, and without a word your husband is behind you, ushering you down for a massage with some of the oils he's pressed.
✧ The aforementioned nesting instincts manifest early on, your husband carefully blunting corners and tucking away the best blankets so the little one-or ones!- will be nothing but safe and comfortable.
✧ Withdrawn as he could be, Beorn's affection is drawn out by your condition, his big brown eyes soft upon you as he pulls you into his lap, large hands secure about your waist and sliding gently up and down your growing belly.
✧ And grow it does! It seems to get heavier by the day, but that is explained thanks to your husband's exceptional hearing. "Four heartbeats. One is yours. A litter- three are coming!" Spots dance in your vision at that news, but Beorn's smile as he grips your hand brings you back to the light. You could do it with him by your side. "Our little litter."
✧ He attempts to reassure you anytime your anxiety grows. "My dearest flower, I have delivered hundreds of calves and piglets in my day! You will see this through." Reassuring? Perhaps not so much. But in your heightened emotion, that does break you into a wild laughter that does indeed relax you nonetheless.
Want to meet the little ones? Perhaps there will be a Part 2 😉

Thorins company with a reader who doesn’t fall asleep easily. Like they will lay awake for hours- also I love how you use gifs(●´ω`●)
Hi Hi Hi Hi! Thank you for the request!!💖 So this one will be short little sentences, but that's because you gave me an idea for a longer sleeping scenario!!!! So, thank you for inspiring me!! 🤩👍 I'll be working on that longer one later this week!
Balin - Balin would gently remind you of the importance of sleep. He would then offer to brush your hair before bed. His fingers, running through your hair, released all your tension. The rhythmic motion, gentle touch, and soft voice would make your eyelids grow heavy. Sleep would come soon after, and Balin would smile, knowing he was able to help.
Dwalin - Dwalin offered you his cloak, saying it was warmer than the tattered blanket you had. He would drape it over you and quietly watch over you. He wouldn't rest until he knew you were asleep. Once you were, he would gently brush the hair out of your face before going to bed himself.
Óin - Oin instantly started preparing remedies, herbal teas, and other unique blends to help you get to sleep. He would hand them to you with a big smile, saying they would help drift you off to dreamland. He would laugh when you tasted them and grimaced, saying, "It's not supposed to taste good. It's supposed to work."
Glóin - Gloin would open up to you. He knows how difficult it is to sleep when your family isn't close. He feels the same way. So he would tell you stories about his family, his life back home, and his dreams. It was comforting to know others felt the same way. As you drifted off to sleep, you felt you were getting to know the company better.
Bifur - Bifur noticed you hadn't slept well for a while. So, one night, he would give you a carved wooden charm to hold onto. He would say it promotes good sleep and advises you to keep it on you when it's bedtime. He'd then pull out his matching charm and smile as if saying, "Seems we both have a hard time sleeping."
Bofur - Bofur would stay up with you each night, telling bedtime stories and other crazy tales. He would love to come up with these stories, each one wilder than the last. Seeing you look at him in awe, perched on the edge of your seat and eagerly awaiting the next sentence, would bring him sheer joy.
Bombur - Bombur is such a sweetheart. He'd go out of his way to make you a warm drink before bed. Bombur would carefully select the perfect ingredients that could help you feel cozy, comfortable, and ready to relax. He would bring it to you with a warm smile and offer to sit with you while you enjoyed it. Hopefully, it helped you relax enough for bed.
Ori - Ori would snuggle up next to you and read you his favorite book. He would read each character in a different voice, bringing the characters to life. It would be incredibly relaxing, and he might even draw out scenes from the book as a special treat.
Dori - Dori would make a fuss. He would get all the pillows and blankets to ensure you are comfortable. He’d arrange everything so they are just right and would even place you in the best spot next to the fire. With a satisfied smile, he'd say, "There you go, all set for a cozy night."
Nori - Being out on the road a lot, Nori has learned a lot of tips and tricks to help get to sleep easier. He knows the best position to sleep on the ground, knows how to keep warm, and highly suggests listening to the fire crackle to help calm down. "Honestly, the best night's sleep is after some 'activities,' if you catch my drift," he says with a wink.
Thorin - He doesn’t try to make a fuss like others. He's the type to keep his feelings to himself, preferring actions over words. Thorin seats himself close to you and hums a dwarven lullaby. It helps him fall asleep, so he does it for you. You want to stay up and listen, but the soothing melody has you asleep within seconds.
Side note: I know this isn't a gif of him singing but I thought it was perfect
Fíli - Fili would be a little concerned, noticing you were more tired during the day. So the next time it was time to rest, he would move his bed mat next to yours. "Y/N, Let me help you get some proper rest tonight. You look exhausted," he would say with a smile. He would wrap his arm over you, pulling you into him. The warmth and the rhythm of his breathing would lull you to sleep.
Kíli - Kili noticed you tossing and turning all night, focusing too much on trying to fall asleep. Knowing that overthinking it would only keep you more awake, he would try to distract you. With a playful wink, Kili would turn it into a playful competition, saying, "The first one to count the most stars wins." As the game would begin, he'd hold your hand, feeling it gradually go limp as you drifted off to sleep. He'd smile, knowing his little game had worked.
Bilbo - Bilbo understands that nothing beats a good night's sleep in your own bed, especially when the journey is far from comfortable. Sensing your lack of sleep and need for comfort, he might offer you his favorite blanket or another comfort item from home, like a book. After giving you the book, he settles beside you and rambles about Hobbiton and the Shire. His gentle mumbles would act like ASMR, putting you right to sleep before you even have the chance to open the book.
Gandalf - Like Bilbo, Gandalf's voice could easily put you to sleep. He'd keep his voice above a whisper, offering you some Old Toby to help you mellow out. Between Gandalf's calming voice and the pipeweed, you would be out.

HANGE ZOE MENTIONED!!!!!! I LOVE HER
Ori:
•Helping haul back a pile of twigs and roots, Ori and you are currently going on and on about some new topic, as the two of you always did when the company started settling down for the night.
•A shy dwarf at first Ori opened up more to your company and soon found you to be the most pleasant person to talk to while being on this adventure.
•He loved his family but if he wasn't being ignored by Nori, Dori was breathing down his neck and fussing over him like he was still a pebble.
•Talking to you was a breath a fresh air and you felt the same.
•Sharing the same sentiment about being ignored mainly by everyone, talking with Ori made days pass on more smoothly.
•Continuing the task of picking up sticks you set your pile aside to put your hair up in a ponytail to keep your hair from getting tangled.
•Ori had been blabbering on which you would occasionally tune in or nod along just to appear engaged in the conversation.
•However hearing him suddenly stop midway through his sentence made you worry.
•Ori had a nack for freezing in is tracks if something was bothering or frightening him.
•You ask him what was wrong and worries are only heightened when you see his eyes staring at you, wide eyed and full of concern.
Without speaking he brushes his finger across your face and touches the tattoo thats sitting beneath your eye.
•Ori: "I . .I had no idea you'd gotten a scar like that under yer eye?! What happened to ye? When did this happen!"
•Taking his now shaken hands into yours you begin to laugh and pat his back reassuringly.
•(Y/A): "Oriii. Its not a scar. I thought Dwalin would have better prepared you to see face tattoos."
•Ori: "Thats a face tattoo!? Its so small what even is it?"
•Fumbling on your words you try to explain the concept of heart shapes to him. To be honest you really didn't have a reason for why you got it.
•Its just a small "aesthetic" heart tattoo accompanied with gold sparkles that sit by the corner of your eye.
•It was just a cute face tattoo nothing more than that.
•The only complants you ever got were from concerned family members chastising you for getting a tattoo on your face because "What employer would want to hire someone who makes mold decisions".
•Welp, doesn't matter now since you have more important things to worry about, like you know helping to slay a dragon!
•As you continue to try to explain you sorta give up half way realizing Ori probably doesn't understand the meaning behind corny e-girl aesthetic tattoos.
•Eventually just ask him with a soft smile on his face "Ori it doesn't really matter what the tattoo means, does it look bad on me?
•Ori: "Oh no. . of course not! I just had no idea a human like ye would get tattoos 'specially on yer face. *blushes* I don't know what they are but they really suit ye."
•Playfully patting his back while gushing about how sweet he is you head back to camp with Ori trailing behind.
Nori:
•Settling by the many rocks that laced the current campsite you set your bed roll near the 'ri family.
•They pretty much took you in all in part to Ori.
•He loved not being the only one Dori dotted on and you weren't complaining either.
•They were like the wacky siblings you've always dreamed of having.
•Nori was the only one who took some time warming up to you.
•Having been fully aware of his theifing habits you expected him to be overly cautious when sharing information with you.
•However, he would have to open up to you eventually when he realized his brothers weren't going to stop being around you.
•Man were you glad he opened up.
•You would have never believed how fun he was to hang out with.
•He was incredibly funny too. I mean some of his stories could rival Bofurs with what kinds of trouble he would end up in due to his "occupation".
•Changing out of your day clothes and setting up the finishing touches of your sleep sack you see an eager Nori run up to you.
•Appearing to be covering something he pulls you down and shushes you before you can speak.
•Nori: "psst . . Look" He proudly shows you a bag of rings he stole from a town a while back.
•(Y/A): "NORI *you try to hit him but he's already recognized your pattern and has defected each hit"
•Nori: "Haha stop that. Ye know your little taps are useless on me.
•(Y/A): "What am I going to do with you."
•Nori: "Whattt not impressed eh?"
•(Y/A): "What's more impressive is how no one has managed to catch you yet. I half expected this journey being cut sort because we have to get you out of jail."
•Nori: "Nah love. You know I'm better than that. *sneaking behind you* *Trying to grab your bag* I'm sneakier.
•(Y/A) "Haha heyy."
•Nori: *shifting to your right* : *ruffles hair to try and grab your hair pin*: I'm more evasive.
•(Y/A): *batting at his hands* : oh yeah?
•Nori: *Lifting up shirt* "Yeah I'm. . "
•(Y/A): *Yelp*: *pushing him a bit as you pull your shirt down* haha Noriiii!
•Nori: 'right, 'right . I'll leave ye be. But whats this now hm? Since when did you get a tattoo?"
•Referring to the large Bear tattoo thats currently being covered by your night shirt. The tattoo sits on your lower back and it is massive. It trails up your spine and it took a good couple of sessions for your tattoo artist to complete it.
•Months of work, sweat, and dedication was needed to get a fraction of the cost to oneday have this semi realistic bear on your body and it was worth it.
•Looking back at Nori you see him standing over you waiting for an explanation.
•You proudly tell him about your artist and how long you waited to get it but he seemed bored by the statements.
•Nori: "Yea yeah that sounds sooo fascinatin'. Love I meant the reasonin' behind the tattoo not yer life story 'bout how you got it.
•Sheepishly you admit that you got a bear tattoo because "its your spirit animal" or whatever. Dude you just like bears mkay. Yeah every person ever has themselves some corny "spirit animal" tattoo but who cares. Bears are just so cool!
•Nori seems to be pleased by your answer. However that doesn't stop him from teasing you. To be honest bears don't seem to suit you in his eyes. More like little baby doe's which only results in you trying to clobber him again.
Dori:
•Being forcefully dragged away from the front door of Beorns house, Dori was doing what Dori does best.
•He was doting all over you. Fussing like some grandma who saw their grandkid trip on a rock or something.
•Despite the fact that you were a grown adult who has not needed anyone to care for them like a little child, Dori had not let up this behavior since Bag-End!
•You don't know how or why but for some strange reason the 'ri brothers took you in as one of their own.
•Ori was sweet as can be, Nori was like your strange older cousin who seemed to never get out of trouble and Dori was as close to grandma as you were going to get!
•Sitting in what you dubbed "Dori's timeout chair" which only got you a stern glare from the older dwarf, you "willingly" let Dori do whatever he needed to do to calm himself down.
•Yeah being chased by orcs, goblins, and a giant Man-Bear was terrifying but Dori would nearly have a heart attack everytime you got even an inch close to "danger".
•Right now was no different as you examened your body for any scratches or injuries.
•Rolling your eyes as you slumped further into the chair, you see Nori snickering in the distance as he giver you a wink and walks away. Not so subtly you mouth to him an "I hate you".
•Dori: "Stop that. Ye know I have ill tolerance for any bad mouthin'. 'Sides his turn will come sooner rather than later."
•(Y/A): "ughhhhhhhhhhhhh but I feel as if we've dond this same song and dance before. I'm fine. No one is dying. I'm not bleeding and if I were to have any scars it's not the end of the world Dori!"
•Dori: "I know (Y/A).
•(Y/A): "Well if you know then why do you insist on doing this EVERY TIME. Hm?"
•Dori: "because I care (Y/A)."
•Sighing and softly smiling you just can't help but laugh. I mean how could you stay angry at that.
•However not really getting the answer you wanted you ask him again why he so scared about you getting scars. If other members are in the clear for getting them why is it so bad for you? (Not that you were willing to get them).
•Dori: *sigh* listen. I don't want anyone gettin' injuries on this adventure. I wish that this journey could be smoother than what it turned into. However, dwarrows like Dwalin and the princes suit scars bette' then some others."
•(Y/A): Ohhh so its a looks thing hm? You saying I'd be ugly if I had scars? *You ask with a cheeky grin*
•Dori: *Bonking your head* "Don't twist my words! I don't think any scars or anything on all of Middle Earth could turn you ugly. It's just that if we could avoid scars or any unnecessary injuries then we should! 'Specially ye. I've seen the scars that 'lready riddle yer body and I'd just hate to see more on ye that's all "
•Unaware that this old dwarf was so observant you couldn't help but sit in silence. Truth be told you were always the curious yet, clumsy one in your family back on earth. Many scars, cuts, and bruises laced your body during your childhood due to your adventurous nature. Whether it was exploring the forrest behind your house (despite being told not to by your parents), or clumsily tripping on things and getting into messy situations, your body has seen its fair share of wear and tear.
•A scar under your chin when you tripped at the water park, face first into concrete, or the scar on your thumb when you were learning to widdle and carve back in school. You had no clue Dori had spotted them all.
•Coming back to your senses you try to explain to Dori that he has nothing to worry about. You apologize for making him so concerned about your well being.
•He cups your hands and tells you that it's alright. That he's sorry too for treating you like glass all the time.
•He goes on to explain that it wasn't always easy for him and his family and that injurys were not easily treatable when money was hard to come by. He suspects that Nori's own reckless behavior combined with the lack of funds made him the worrywart he is today.
•He let him know that there is nothing to be ashamed about and that his behavior is nothing more than coming from a place of concern.
•As the night creeps across the sky as the candles of Beorns home begin to burn out you and Dori make your way over to your sleeping area.
•Feeling a little guilty for always giving Dori a hard time, you decide to tell the story about each scar you got. In a sense it sort of lightened the mood and elevated any fears about how you got your scars.
•Most were dumb accidents. The burn scar on your palm when you dropped a hot pan on your hands trying to make some eggs. The scar on your knee when you tripped on your own two feet one to many times. You explained the hole on your ear when you pierced it on your own and it went as well as you expected.
•Laughter filled the air as the 'ri family listened in on your silly mishaps.
•Despite all the dangers you faced thus far this trip would have been so much more unbearable had you not been taken in by this caring and loving family of dwarves.
•The last scar you showed was a long cut that trailed your leg.
•However one would find it hard to spot because a large tattoo sat on top of it.
•Dori was shocked but not because of the scar but rather you never mentioned it to him at any point during this trip.
•You admit that you were worried that he would freak out if he saw it especially since a giant scar is hidden between the ink.
•Although a upset Dori was more fascinated with what or rather who your tattoo is supposed to be.
•Your tattoo wasn't flowers, patterns, or even an animal. Your tattoo was Hange Zoe. You wanted to use her eyepatch to cover the scar on your leg.
•Smacking your head you wondered how you were going to explain the entirety of Attack on Titan to a bunch of dwarves.
•Instead of restoring to regurgitating the AoT wiki you settled on explaining that Hange Zoe is a favorite character from a novel you read when you were a teen.
•That she is wicked smart but also a really good fighter. During one of the chapters she faces head on with the enemy in order to try and help save her friends and comrades. In the end one of her eyes is severely injured and she has to wear her eye patch for the rest of the story. You wanted to get her because her eyepatch made it easier to get a tattoo around a scar.
•Feeling satisfied the Dori and the others head off to bed. Though in the morning they continue to bombard you with questions about the "warrior lady" on your leg and the rest of the scars that lace your body. Hey at least you have something to talk about besides the endless lectures from Dori.

Previous Part Next Part
The troll cave smelled like a giant pile of shit and dead bodies. Eyja carefully makes her way downwards into the cave until Gandalf stops in front of her, turning and holding an unlit torch out to her. "Eyja, can you light this please?" She sighs and takes the torch from his hand. Bringing the foul smelling thing up to her face, she brings in a deep breath before letting out a mighty puff, flames passing over her lips and catching on the torches material. "Thank you." Gandalf turns back around, the now lit torch illuminating the gold and other treasure lining the walls.
Kili steps up beside Eyja, watching as she sifts through the weapons tossed haphazardly about. "How were you able to light that torch?"
She continues running her hands over blades and bows as she answers, "I am a skin changer, while the outside is me shifts from one form to another, the inside, remains the same, though it does shrink and grow to match my body." Kili hums a sound of acknowledgment and points to a long wooden bow she hadn't gotten to yet,
"This is a great bow if you're looking for such a weapon, the curve is strong, and the string appears to be taught." The shifter turns to the weapon, lifting it from the ground, dusting it off with the corner of her cloak, revealing a dark wood and leather grip.
Eyja nods, "You are right, this is a fine bow, do you see a quiver anywhere?" Kili's smile widens at her praise, the matching quiver of arrows already in his outstretched hand. "Thank you Kili, are you in need of any weapons?"
he thinks to himself for a moment, "No I think I have all that I need." Eyja nods and starts off back towards the entrance of the cave, passing Gandalf handing Bilbo a small sword. As they reach the top, and Eyja begins reorganizing her small stash of blades and new bow the rest of the company begins to file out, many of them inhaling deep breaths of the fresh air. Eyja turns her back to the dwarven prince and looks back over her shoulder at him.
"Could you undo the sheath on my back, I can't seem to reach it?"
"Ya I can do that." Kili's hands brush lightly over her hair on the way to the strap holding her sheath to her body, and Eyja stills at the contact. As his hands fiddle with the clasp, she reaches back and pulls her hair to the side so to get it out of the way. As the clasp finally lets go and Kili lifts her sword from her back.
Eyja turns smile wide on her face ready to thank him when through the trees barrels huge rabbits towing a sled holding a small man cloaked in brown, lopsided hat pulled low over his ears. the dwarves quickly pull tightly into a group blades at the ready, but Gandalf steps forward laughter in his voice.
"Radagast the brown, what on earth are you doing here?" Kili shoots a questioning look to Eyja as if to confirm this is the wizard she had spoken of the day prior. The shifter meets his gaze for a fleeting moment, nodding, her brows furrowed in confusion. She had never seen the wizard in such a state of panic as he explained to the grey wizard how the greenwood is sick. As they wander away from the group Eyja turns back to the dwarf at her side.
"So that's Radagast," Kili's tone is light as he watches Eyja secure her sword to her waist.
"Yes, though I've never seen him look quite so worried before, normally he is quite calm, something must be terribly wrong to have him so upset." As she slings her new quiver over her shoulder and across her body, a menacing howl pierces the air, chilling the blood in her veins.
"Was that a wolf?" Bilbo's question is spoken swiftly his voice laden with fear, for the hobbit had never heard such a noise before.
Bofur's response is shaky and uncertain, "That is no wolf."
Movement behind the two catches Eyja's gaze, "Wargs!" her shout rings through the air and every dwarf turn weapons out as the beast hurtles down the hill towards them, it tackles Dwalin to the ground, only for Thorin to bring his new elvish blade down with bone crushing force. As another warg comes barreling at them, Kili readies an arrow and lets it fly, the arrow sinking deep in the creatures leg, causing it to tumble the rest of the way down the mossy hill, Eyja brings her blade across its throat with a quick twirl, the dark blood splattering across her cloak and face. She bares her teeth at the foul animal as it let out one last whining howl.
Thorin wrenches his blade from the neck of the first warg, "Warg scouts, which means an orc pack is not far behind."
"we have to get out of here." Dwalin's voice is tense and he looks to Thorin.
Ori rushes to the group, "We can't, the ponies have run off."
Radagast volunteers to draw them off and Gandalf turns to face his companion, "These are gundabarg wargs, they will outrun you."
A wild glint enters the brown wizards eyes, "These are ruskavelle rabbits, I would like to see them try." He climbs back onto his sled, commanding the rabbits forward, and he takes off like an arrow shot from a bow, here one moment, gone the next.
The howls and wails of the warg pack draw closer only for them to be drowned out for a moment by the sound of Radagast yelling obscenities at the orcs as he rushes past. As the orc pack take off after the wizard, Gandalf ushers the company to move, he runs in front of them leading them into the open fields. Eyja brings up the back of group, making sure that none of the dwarves get left behind, ushering them forward when they start to slow.
The group runs down the hill and moves to pass a large boulder when Radagast flies past, manic giggles escaping him, and the large pack of orcs soon follows. Many times in their mad dash across the plains are they cut off by the parade of orcs chasing the gleeful wizard. The group slams their backs against the boulder as Radagast darts in front of them once again and one of the orcs moves his steed atop the rock which they try to hide under. Thorin turns to meet his nephews eyes and nods at him. slowly Kili draws an arrow, and knocks it on his bow, taking a breath, he steps away from the rock revealing himself to the orc atop it. Letting the arrow loose, it flies into the chest of the warg, and as the orc brings his horn to his mouth intending to call for the others, Kili looses another arrow into the chest of the orc. The wail of the dying orc and warg ricochet off the rocks echoing at deafening volumes. Eyja sinks her blade into the orc's skull silencing it as Dwalin dispatches the warg, but not before it lets out another agonizing howl.
"Move, run!" Gandalf's yell is heavy with panic, "This way quickly!" he leads the company towards a rock surrounding by a small stand of trees, Thorin's shouts for Kili to shoot the beasts has Eyja readying her own bow, letting arrows fly in every direction, as more and more wargs pour over the hills.
Dwalin yells that Gandalf had abandoned them, but as Eyja turns quickly to seek out the wizard, her mind connects the dots as to where they are. She resumes shooting at the orcs as they advance, Kili by her side mirroring each other.
"This way you fools!" Gandalf's cry from the rocks reaches Eyja's ears at about the same time as an unseen warg pushes her to the ground, teeth bared and saliva dripping. She wrenches her dagger from its place on her thigh, driving it home in the underside of the beasts jaw and dragging it downwards, towards its neck. Kili turns to find Eyja covered in blood, pushing the now deceased warg off her.
Thorin's shouts for Kili and the shifter to run, has them turn from the orcs, they begin to sprint, Eyja dragging Kili along by the wrist as she out paces him. As she dives into the crevice, pulling the brunette dwarrow with her, Thorin jumps down sliding after them. As her feet hit the bottom of the hole she steadies herself on the cool rock wall. Kili stands beside her, out of breath, and unsteady himself. A horn sounds from outside the cave and the sound of hooves pounding the earth sounds in the air. As the sounds of orcs yelling and wargs dying grows louder Eyja and Thorin begin pushing the company away from the entrance, trying to remain concealed from the newcomers. An orc comes rolling down into the cave, arrow protruding from it head,
"Elves." Thorin's voice holds distaste as he tosses the retrieved arrow aside. Bofur calls that they should follow the path and starts walking, the group filing down the twisting hall. Kili and Eyja fall to the back of the group, and she rests a hand on his shoulder.
"Are you alright Kili?" Her eyes dart over his face, "Do you need to rest?" His breaths are still coming in momentous heaves, but he shakes his head, face turning red at her show of concern.
"Ya," his eyes meet hers and he pauses for a moment at the concern swimming in them, "I'm alright, what about you?"
"I'm perfectly fine." Her voice is soft, and her eyes dance over Kili's face, and they catch on the leaf stuck in his bangs, "Hold still." She reaches out gently pulling the debris from his hair, the strands are soft against her fingers and she drops the leaf on the ground between them. "There was a leaf in your hair."
Kili's face is now a bright red, and he avoids her gaze, "Thank you." The sounds of the company are getting farther away and Kili turns to face the hall, "We should probably catch up to the rest of the group." Eyja nods, and they walk down the path, side by side hands occasionally brushing.
As the pair round the last corner, they come across the company, standing in awe as they lay their eyes on Rivendale, home of the elves. Kili jaw drops open at the waterfalls and architecture. the company makes their way down the hills, and across the bridge approaching the elf standing at the base of the steps. Eyja, bounds forward, bringing the dark haired elf into a hug, which is quickly returned by the ellon. "Lindir, it's lovely to see you, it has been far to long old friend." While Eyja releases the elf from her grasp, Gandalf approaches, and begins speaking with the tall man over the whereabouts of Lord Elrond. Kili stands beside his brother brows furrowed at the elf Gandalf and Eyja are conversing with.
"Brother if you continue to glare at him, he might spontaneously combust." Fili's teasing only serves to make his brothers scowl deepen.
"It's nothing." Kili walks away from his brother, stopping only when he's standing at Eyja's side chin held high as he watches the exchange between the three taller beings. A horn sounding across the valley turns the heads of all those present to the incoming procession of horses. The dwarves quickly bunch up, Kili pushing Eyja to the center of their circle alongside bilbo who had been put there by Thorin. The shifter just laughed and waved at the elven lord as he stepped off his horse.
"Eyja, what a wonderful surprise, it is lovely to see you again," Elrond steps forward and Eyja steps out of the circle of defensive dwarrow, "What brings you here this time dear shifter?"
She bows slightly before responding, "I'm afraid you're going to have to ask Gandalf for the details, for he is leading us." She smiles at the elf before rejoining her dwarven companions, standing next to the very prickly looking Kili. "Are you alright Kili, you look ready to remove somebodies head?" The brunette prince looks to her, the yellow of her eyes reflecting the sun in such a way they appeared to glow.
He nods curtly, "Yes I'm quite alright, how do you know the elves?"
Eyja smiles gently as she looks up to see Elrond and Thorin discussing something, "I met Lord Elrond many years ago, I was passing nearby and was attacked by a band of goblins, Lindir and Lord Elrond were a part of the hunting party that helped me that day." Her smile widens remembering the day, and how she had thrown Lindir to the ground at first mistaking him for an enemy. Kili nods, and tenses once more as Elrond begins to speak in the elven tongue to his uncle.
Gloin brandishes his weapon, "Does he offer us insult?" Eyja laughs quietly.
"No Master Gloin, he offers you food." Her lilting voice is joyous as she explains Elrond's words to the company, causing them to go quiet before Gloin says to lead the way.
The group is led to an open area, where they are told to leave their bags and supplies. Eyja shrugs off her cloak folding it carefully before placing it on the floor, laying her weapons down beside it. Kili watches the skin changer closely, and mimics her actions. Eyja walks over to kneel beside the prince, who is placing his things on the ground in a not so neat pile, "I am going to go and wash all this blood off, follow Lindir, he will show you to a table and provide you with food, I will join you all in a moment." The dwarrow turns his head, pleading silently for her not to leave him alone in the unfamiliar place, but the shifter nods once, before rising and walking swiftly and surely down the hall. Kili moves to stand by his brother, whispering quietly to him the same thing Eyja told him.
Once the rest of the company has finished organizing their bags, Lindir turns to face the group, "Follow me," His voice is smooth and he spares no eye contact for any of them, instead turning on his heel and starting down a new hall. The thirteen dwarves and singular hobbit are quick to follow, not wanting to get lost in the unknown city. The raven haired ellon leads them down the white hallway, before opening a large wooden door to a ginormous room. the room is lit by the setting sun, and filled with a long table with many dwarf sized seats and one regular sized chair. on a raised platform at the end of the room, sectioned off by towering floor to ceiling pillars is a separate table, where the elf lord already sits with the grey wizard.
"Ah welcome, Master Thorin, please join me at my table and do bring your Hobbit, the rest of you my take a seat, the food will be out shortly." Everyone moves at once, the promise of food has them scrambling to find a seat. Kili seats himself beside the larger chair, hoping that when you return, you will sit with them instead of the other table.
As promised, elves are soon bustling around them bringing platters and bowls of food to the long table. But as the dwarves sift through the many dishes, they find no meat. As the company grumbles and complains over the lack of protein, the doors open once more. Eyja steps into the room, skin no longer covered in blood, and dressed in a pair of loose brown pants, that are sinched at the waist and tucked into her boots, her shirt is flowing and white, cuffed at the wrists and tucked in at the waist.
She rounds the long table heading to the empty chair next to the raven haired dwarven prince, but pauses as Lindir grabs her arm. Kili doesn't hear what the elf says to her but at the way her fists clench and her brow furrows, he suspects it can't be anything good. Eyja nods grimly at her friend before stepping past him to rejoin her dwarf companions.
As she pulls the chair out and sits down Kili turns his head, watching her through the curtain of his hair. She quickly dishes some of the leafy meal onto her plate, eyes unfocused. He lifts his head and turns to face the skin changer fully, "Are you alright?" His question seems to shock her out of her trance like state.
"Yes, I'm quite alright, there's just some new information that's been brought to my attention," Eyja shakes her head, "but no matter, it is of little consequence now." Kili raises a brow, but leaves the subject alone for the moment.
"If you say so, hey me and Fili have been thinking-"
"That's never a good thing." Eyja tone is teasing and she smiles at the dwarf.
"Choosing to ignore that, but anyways, we were wondering why Bilbo is called a burglar and not just a robbit." The timing of his words couldn't have been worse, as the shifter had just taken a large drink of water. Eyja bursts out laughing, spewing water over the unfortunate Dwalin seated across from her. As her laughter dies down to giggles and coughing she chokes out an apology as the burly tattooed dwarf scowls. Kili and Fili howl with laughter as they watch the shifter try and mop up the mess with the napkin on the table.
It was then that Bofur leapt onto the table, declaring the music to be unfit for the company and bursting out into song and dance, stomping over the food. The commotion draws the attention of those at the other table and Lord Elrond grumbles as the company sings along, Eyja smiling joyfully.
