[Tales of Scarabella and Chat Noir AU]
NORA CÉSAIRE/ANANSI
Tumblr media
Miraculous writers after trying to be diverse by including a character from mythology but not expanding on it at all except using the name🤭
Here's my MSB!AU redesign for Nora Césaire and Anansi!
It's not said what Nora's age is in canon, but I imagine she's in the young adult 20-22 range.
Although it's said Nora is a kickboxer she almost seems to be designed as a Muay Thai fighter:
Nora prefers to be called by her in-ring alias and even wears arm bands that could be compared to Pra Jiads (armbands traditionally given to a Muay Thai fighter by a close family member for luck and confidence)
Muay Thai is also nicknamed 'The Art of 8 Limbs' because it includes punches, elbows, knees, and kicks. Which I thought was funny since her akuma design is a spider.
Speaking of spiders, I tried to add more spider-like design choices.
Of course, I'm terrified of spiders. So, the only references I really used were images of Anansi (from folklore) and tried to add a Nora-ish flare.
Expanding onto her powers, she can transform into a spider if needed and can also retract her extra arms.
She's tricky, mischievous, and cunning like the ACTUAL Anansi (not just a big brute who punches her way through everything😒..)
She's also like 8 feet tall cause FUCK YEAH!!!!!!
God, the stripes were a pain in the ass. Also, never coloring my lineart again...

Calm Before the Storm - Chapter 6 - Heavenly Virtues
Beginning || Previous || Next
“Excellent work today, Vivica. You’re really been putting in the work, haven’t you?” Penny praised.
Vivica smiled and chuckled nervously. “You could say that. Gotta be on the top of my game after all, right?”
“Just don’t burn yourself out,” Penny warned.
            “I won’t, I promise.”
“Very well. We’ll see you tomorrow.”
Vivica smiled and ran off. She headed down the street for home when a teen boy with a lion’s mane of hair her age joined her. She beamed and hugged him.
            “Diligentia! How was your day?”
“Busy as usual. How was yours? Did everything go well with rehearsal?”
“It was amazing! All that hard work has paid off again and I’m making strides. I have you to thank for it.”
Diligentia waved his hand dismissingly. “You put in your own hard work. I simply assist with keeping you on course.”
“It still has helped a lot. I honestly couldn’t thank you enough for all the help you’ve been. I don’t think I’d be this far without you.”
“Think nothing of it. Simply doing what I was made to be, as Father would have dictated. Now, let’s hurry along. You’ll need to get to practice in if you’re to stay ahead of the curb.”
            “Right! Let’s go!”
~~
Ali followed behind Soraya Khan as she discussed the next charity event. He zoned in and out while the girl beside him, Liberalitas, gleefully chatted with Soraya about the charity event. He smiled at her bubbly optimism that reminded him of Rose.
Ali sighed as he looked away. He had been in contact with Rose since he met her and kept in touch, but he found himself missing Rose more recently. He had tried to participate in more charity events in Paris, but his luck had ran dry with no events being hosted that had sparked his parents interest. He’d give anything to return and see Rose, even if just once.
“Your Highness, are you listening?” Soraya asked.
Ali gasped and opened his mouth.
“It’s ok, Soraya, I am!” Liberalitas cheered.
“I do appreciate that you are, but his Highness needs to as well. This is an important event being hosted by the Agrestes for the first time since Gabriel lost his mind. His ex-wife, Emilie, is returning to form with hosting the Diamond Dance again.”
Ali perked up. “You mean we’re heading to Paris again?”
“Indeed. We’ve received the invitation to attend the dance. Your parents agreed to have you attend given Emilie’s newfound status and power she and her wife possess. They believe they can benefit, so long as you can make friends with the son, Adrien. And, if we are lucky, you could meet with the current defenders of Paris with the aid of Liberalitas, so long as she is willing to assist with the matter.”
“Absolutely! Anything to help you guys,” Liberalitas cooed.
“Excellent. We’ll have everything prepared for you to depart in a couple of weeks. Understood?”
            Ali grinned. “Yeah! Absolutely!”
~~
“You should have seen it, Caritas! He was all distracted by whatever coach was yelling at him about, which gave me the perfect opportunity to ambush him. His coach didn’t like it, but no one ever cares what he has to say when we can wrestle. And it was an amazing spar. I won, of course. Not like there is ever any doubt,” Nora boasted.
Caritas giggled. “Your feats of valor and strength are always impressive to hear about. Though it quite mean to disregard a person no matter how small.”
“I know, I know, but they get so pushy and never let us have any real fun. So, we make it ourselves. Anyway! Let’s go! We’re making something special for when the family gets home.”
“Oh? Is that what the impromptu shopping trip was for?”
“Hell yeah! Wanted to do something nice for the family. I mean, it is summer with the kids out of school, Mom could always use some help. And I am basically staying free, so it’s the least I could do.”
Caritas smiled softly. “Your kindness is beautiful, Nora. I’m glad I chose you.”
Nora paused outside the apartment door. “Thank you. I’ll be honest, I don’t feel I deserve you because of how I can be other times, but I’m glad you stick around. I know it hasn’t been long, but it feels like your part of the family.”
Caritas put a hand over her heart, then gently touched Nora’s shoulder. “Thank you. I’m honored, truly. Your family is beautiful, full of kind souls, much like your own. It is truly an amazing experience to bask in your presences.”
Nora smiled and pulled Caritas in a big hug. “Say, you’ve always watched us cook. Would you like to learn how to?”
Caritas’s eyes lit up. “Oh, please! It looks like so much fun.”
“C’mon. I’ll show you and together we’ll make the greatest dinner ever!”
Caritas clapped and bounced then followed Nora inside.

Mireille entered the KIDZ+ studio for the annual weather girl competition. She entered it again alongside Aurore and many others. She glanced around at the crowd before they noticed her. They cheered for her as she made her way through them to the front with Aurore. Alec announced them and the competition while Aurore looked at her.
“I’d wish you luck, but I intend to win this competition,” Aurore said.
“Well, I wish you the best of luck. You’ll be great.”
Aurore was taken aback. She snorted and stuck her nose in the air as she looked away.
Mireille sighed as Alec finished and everyone dispersed. She headed up to the room after the others when a plain-looking teen boy joined her.
“Your friend is very proud in herself. It will surely spell her doom.”
“She never seems to learn that lesson,” Mireille said.
“One day she’ll be humbled and see the error in her pride.”
“Do you think you could help her with that, Humilitas?”
“I could, but nothing is learned when the lesson is forced upon someone. No, she’ll need to learn on her own.”
“I… I see. You’ll be here, though, right? At my side through all this?”
“Of course. I promised you I would be there for you through anything. You are my holder and I your kwami.”
            Mireille smiled. “Thank you.”
            “No, thank you.”
Mireille and Humilitas went in circles as they thanked each other until Aurore stood in front of them.
“Knock it off! I’m trying to concentrate and you two are distracting me.”
“Forgive us. We’ll keep it down,” Humilitas said with a bow.
            “Yeah, well, you better.”
Aurore headed off and left the pair alone.
            “Well, you ready?”
“I’m with you. Let us go.”
~~
            “Hi! We’re back!” Marinette called.
Sabine and a woman with striking red hair turned to them.
“Welcome home, dearie. How was your date?” Sabine asked.
Marinette ran over to hug Sabine and sat beside her. “It was amazing! We didn’t really go anywhere. We stayed at Liberty, but I sketched while he watched. We got the next designs done for Kitty Section, y’know, whenever they perform again. And I got hear some of the songs that Luka had been working on. And then we cuddled as the sunset and-.”
A teen girl with light blue hair materialized. “That’s all you did, right? Nothing more?”
Marinette stopped and shut her mouth.
“Castitas, what have we talked about?” Sabine scolded.
“I know, but Tom is worried and so am I. So many young girls like Mari here fall so easily to sin. We just want to keep her safe,” Castitas countered.
“I understand, but you should worry about your own safety.”
Castitas furrowed her brow when Gimmi materialized. She squeaked and jumped back when Gimmi’s eyes fell on her.
“You’re back. How was your date?” Gimmi asked.
            “It was good,” Marinette said.
Gimmi narrowed her eyes at Castitas.
Castitas chuckled nervously. “I… I think I hear Tom calling for me. Probably needs help in the bakery. Yeah, that’s it. Uh, bye!”
They watched as Castitas vanished. They sat in silence for a moment before Gimmi spoke.
“So, did you two fuck yet?”
Marinette’s face turned bright red. “Gimmi! Filter!”
Sabine and the red-haired woman chuckled.
“What? You asked for help with contraceptives, so what’s stopping you two?”
“Now, Gimmi, don’t push. These things take time. You don’t want to rush into things. Right, Patientia?” Sabine pointed out.
“Exactly. Patience is key to the finer things in life,” Patientia agreed.
“Whatever. My job here is done,” Gimmi said, then vanished.
Marinette sighed. “Well, I’ll probably head up and finish my work, then head to bed.”
“Alright, sweetie. Oh! Before I forget, this was delivered for you by Nathalie,” Sabine said as she held up an envelope.
            Marinette froze. “Nathalie? Nathalie Sancoeur?”
            Sabine nodded.
Marinette hesitated before she took the envelope. She opened it to find a mask identical to the one she used at the Diamond Dance to sneak in, but was later kicked out. She looked in the envelope and found a handwritten letter signed by Emilie Agreste. She glanced over the letter and read that Emilie would be hosting the Diamond Dance again. Emilie stated she would be inviting big names and other figures along with the defenders of Paris, promising it would be more than what Gabriel ever made it.
“Oh, well, thank you. I’ll, uh, I’ll be in my room.”
Marinette gave Sabine a kiss on the cheek before she headed up into her room. She sat on the chaise as Gimmi materialized.
            “What’s that?”
“An unwanted invitation to a dance I want no part in,” Marinette answered.
            “Why’s that?”
“It’s from Adrien’s mom for a big dance. It sounds tempting, but I also don’t want to deal with Adrien. I know he still isn’t over me. He makes it a little hard not to notice.”
“And you’re going to let that stop you?”
“Hey! Look, I just don’t want to go, alright?”
            “Coward.”
            “Excuse me?”
“You possess reality at your fingertips and you’re going to let some kitten keep you from enjoying yourself? Pathetic.”
Marinette’s jaw dropped. “Excuse you! I am not pathetic. I am the holder of reality!”
“Yeah? Well, you letting some whiny kitten stopping you seems pretty pathetic to me.”
“You know what? We’re going to that dance, and we’re not going to let Adrien stop us from enjoying it.”
Gimmi smirked. “Good. I look forward to it.”
Marinette’s eyes widened as realization hit her. “Wait. No, I-!”
“My work here is done,” Gimmi said and vanished.

Fei Wu stared out at the night sky. She watched the city below her when the moonlight hit her new anklet. She sighed as she messed with it and lamented. It had been over a year since she lost the Prodigious and the renlings to Shadowmoth. She had put her faith in the Paris heroes to get them back, until she finally received the news.
Fei Wu stared at the anklet as she recalled the letter of Monarch’s defeat, but how all the kwamis were changed and the renlings, presumably, were gone. She had the Prodigious returned to her, but without the renlings, it was powerless. Just another reminder of her failures.
Footsteps stole Fei Wu’s attention. She jumped to her feet as a young man with ginger hair approached. She relaxed as he sat beside her.
“I wondered where you went. You weren’t in that man’s restaurant like you normally are. I was worried you had relapsed again.”
Fei Wu shook her head. “I just… I needed some air.”
            “Penny for your thoughts?”
“It’s nothing new. Just… everything hit just right and I was reminded of everything. Of… of my failures.”
            “Fei, you aren’t a failure.”
“Yes, I am, Temperantia. I failed to stop Shadowmoth. I failed to step in and be a hero to save the renlings. I failed my father and everything he stood for. I’m a disgrace.”
“You are too hard on yourself. You fought against Hawkmoth and won once. One defeat doesn’t mean you failed.”
“But I lost the renlings. Even Mei Shi won’t come out of statue form. I just… I don’t know what I’m supposed to do now. There’s no need for a guardian. No need for any of that, so what am I supposed to do if not that?”
“What is it you wish to do?”
            “I… I don’t know.”
Temperantia hummed. “Perhaps you can find answers in Paris.”
            “Pardon?”
“That is where the rest of my brethren reside. Primarily the favorites of my father. Perhaps you could find a purpose speaking with them and their holders?”
            “I’m not sure. Maybe?”
            “What have you to lose?”
Fei Wu pursed her lips. “I… it’ll be a long trip. Especially without… without Ladydragon.”
Temperantia chuckled. “I’m a little insulted. Did my wings truly look just for show?”
            “I mean… can I fly with you?”
“Indeed. One of the perks of having wings, no?”
“Well, let’s settle my affairs and we’ll head over. Sounds like a plan?”
            “Indeed. Lead the way.”

Stammering Adrien AU: Adrien when meeting his friends’ siblings; Alya’s sisters, Alix’s brother Jalil, Juleka’s brother, Luka, and Nino’s brother, Chris, and how they react to his stuttering and him feeling anxious.
Nora and the twins.
Alya: Girls, this is my new friend, Adrien Agreste.
Adrien: *waves timidly* Hello, nice t-t-t-to... N-N-Nice t-t-to... Ella: *confused* What's wrong with him?
Etta: Yeah, he talks funny.
Adrien: *becoming increasingly self-conscious*
Nora: So you're the boy who doesn't speak much. *gets close* What, not much to say?
Alya: *pushes her back* Enough. Ella, Etta, Adrien has a stammer. That was very rude. And Nora, turn down the tough girl routine, will you? Adrien's shy around new people. You're scaring him.
Adrien: *visibly shaking*
*Ella and Etta see how upset he looks and go up to him, each grabbing one of his hands*
Ella: It's okay, Mr. Adrien.
Etta: Yeah, don't be scared. We'll be nice.
Ella: Sorry about what we said about your voice.
Nora: And I'm sorry if I scared you. Would you like something to drink? We have orange soda.
Adrien: O-Okay, sure. Thank... Thank you.
Chris
Chris: Nino says you have a speech disorder. Is that true?
Adrien: It... It is.
Chris: There's this kid in my class that has one too.
Adrien: Oh? What's he l-l-l-like?
Chris: Well, he's really nice, but his mouth makes his R's and L's sound like W's. My teacher says it's wrong to tease him, so it must be wrong to tease you too. So I won't.
Adrien: *smiles* Thanks, Chris. Nino s-s-s-sure is lucky to have you as a little brother.
Chris: Thanks. Hey, you like superheroes?
Adrien: Are you k-k-k-kidding, I LOVE superheroes.
*Chris takes Adrien to his room to watch superhero cartoons*
Jalil
Alix: Jalil, this is my new friend, Adrien. *to Adrien* And Adrien, this is my dorky older brother, Jalil.
Jalil: *rolls his eyes* Very funny, little sister. *to Adrien* Hey there, don't listen to Alix. *pushes up his glasses* There's nothing dorky about the pursuit of knowledge. Anyway, *offers his hand* Jalil Kubdel, aspiring historian. Pleased to meet you.
Adrien: *shrinks away, rubbing his arm*
Alix: *whispers to Jalil* He's a little shy.
Jalil: Oh. *approaches slowly* Hey, it's okay. I don't bite.
Adrien: *gulps and shakes his hand* N-N-N-Nice t-t-to meet you too...
Jalil: Oh, a speech impediment? That explains why you seem so quiet.
Adrien: *looks away in embarrassment*
Jalil: Hey, there's nothing to be ashamed of. Really. *thinks* And you know, some of the greatest people in history stammered like you.
Adrien: They did?
Jalil: Absolutely. There's King George VI, Winston Churchill, Demosthenes, even James Earl Jones.
Adrien: *eyes light up* Cool!
Jalil: Come on, let me show you around.

Chapter 9: Traitors
Tumblr media
(In Marriott’s Grande Vista, Adrien’s group lays asleep throughout the villa. Adrien wakes up.)
ADRIEN: (YAWNS) Morning, guys.
(The group gives scattered “Good morning” greetings.)
ADRIEN: Let’s start putting Operation Bring Marinette Back to Paris underway. Markov?
(Markov scans all of Orlando.)
MARKOV: I have found her. She is now leaving a Panera Bread in Waterford Lakes Town Center with a new group of friends. They plan to visit ICON Park tonight.
ADRIEN: ICON Park. That’s right on this road. Heck, we passed that on the way here. That’s where we go tonight.
(Now, during the last rays of sundown, Marinette and her new friends enter ICON Park. Marinette gawks at the Orlando Eye glowing colorfully against the night sky. Around the park, guests notice Marinette and point her out. The group approaches the entrance to the wheel.)
LUNA-TK: Alright. You head on in and enjoy yourself. We’ll be on lookout for anyone crossing you.
MARINETTE: Okay. Thank you.
(She goes inside. Meanwhile, with Adrien’s group in their room…)
MARKOV: She has arrived at the park.
ADRIEN: Let’s go, people.
(Meanwhile, Marinette arrives at one of the wheel’s cars.)
MARINETTE: Thank you.
(She boards the wheel. Meanwhile, Adrien’s group arrives.)
ADRIEN: Okay. Everyone search high and low. She could be anywhere in this busy park.
(In the wheel, Marinette arrives at the top and overlooks the area around her.)
MARINETTE: Wow.
TIKKI: I mean, Paris had great views during your time as Ladybug, but this is amazing.
MARINETTE: Right? My choice to stay here gets better with every hour.
(Below, Markov sees her.)
MARKOV: She is now preparing to get off of that wheel.
MAX: Affirmative.
(Meanwhile, Marinette gets out of her car and onto the platform.)
MARINETTE: That was so good.
TIKKI: So now what?
MARINETTE: We’re gonna meet back with the group and work it out.
(Now, Adrien and the group find her outside the Museum of Illusions.)
ADRIEN: There they are!
MARINETTE: Huh?
(As the group approaches, all of Marinette’s new friends block them.)
LUNA-TK: Back up! Back away!
@calxiyn (simultaneously): Get out of here!
ADRIEN: What?
@luminara713: Get back!
ADRIEN: What’s going on? Marinette! We’re here to apologize!
MARINETTE: You think I want to hear what you have to say?
(Marinette moves through her friends and approaches Adrien.)
ADRIEN: You need to know how scared and devastated we were when we knew you were gone. We spent the rest of the day looking for you.
MARINETTE: So? Just the fact that it took me running away for you to come to the realization that you mistreated me speaks volumes. How did any of you ever come to the conclusion that a girl who tells the most unbelievable stories that can be fact-checked by a simple internet search is so spectacular? How did, “Marinette, someone we know always puts other people’s needs before her own, is bullying a disabled girl because of pity jealousy, even though she insists that she’s okay with Kagami dating Adrien,” cross your minds at all? Tell me, Adrien. Why did I have to tell you to vouch for me? I don’t blame Mr. Damocles for shutting you up! You looked like you were only doing it because I asked you to and not because you actually believed me! You all did nothing when I got expelled, not even Alya’s “detective work” turned out useful, and Lila was the one to get me back in with another lie, and I’m just supposed to forgive you traitors?!
ADRIEN: Marinette, please…
MARINETTE: No! You know, if I can’t ever get it through your heads that I want you to leave me alone, my new friends will make you understand! Let’s get these traitors!
youtube
(As Marinette and her new friends charge, Adrien and the others turn around and flee past several onlookers. The group turns onto the street as the typical harsh rain you’d expect to see in Florida starts to fall. Marinette and her new friends follow. Ahead, Adrien and his group frantically pant as they hustle ahead of their pursuers.)
Tumblr media
youtube
(They run under the bridge connecting the Orange County Convention Center and the Hotel Convention Center.)
ADRIEN: Let’s go this way!
(They turn onto Hawaiian Ct and bump into Terence, who glowers down at them.)
Tumblr media
(They change direction, toward the bushes behind Walgreens, which they hop over. Manon falls off of her mother’s shoulders. Alix catches her and passes her back to Nadja.)
MANON: Thank you!
ALIX: Don’t mention it.
(Back on the street, the group hustles toward the overpass. Kagami’s foot slips on a sewer drain and she falls, clutching her ankle in pain.)
ADRIEN: Kagami!
KAGAMI: My ankle!
(Looking beyond her, Adrien sees their pursuers approaching fast.)
ADRIEN: Anansi…
NORA: Don’t need to tell me, Cellphone Boy!
(Nora runs back and carries Kagami on her back. Ahead, the group rounds the corner at the three-way intersection leading to Marriott’s Grande Vista. Their pursuers start to close in. The group races into the lobby, their hair and clothes sopping wet, and their equally wet shoes squeaking on the floor. They arrive at an open elevator and scramble inside.)
TRAVEL GROUP: Get in, get in!…Go, go, go!…Hurry up, get in, come on!…They’re coming, let’s go!
ADRIEN: Come on, come on, come on, come on!
MYLÈNE: Get in! Get in!
Tumblr media
(Their equally wet pursuers arrive. Adrien frantically presses the button to close the elevator.)
ADRIEN: Close, close, close, come on!
(The doors slide closed just before Marinette and her new friends can reach them.)
MARINETTE: Ah! Come on!
LUNA-TK: Darn! (SIGHS) Well, hey, hope you enjoyed the day with us before they showed up. See you tomorrow?
MARINETTE: Sure.
(Her new friends leave.)
LORI: They better not come near her again, or I will literally turn them into human pretzels.
(On the fourth floor, the group gets off the elevator.)
ALIX: I can’t believe this! We came all this way for nothing!
NATHANIEL: And Marinette has hardcore protectors now!
IVAN: Traitors! She called us traitors!
MYLÈNE: (SOBBING) How could she?
ADRIEN: This doesn’t make any sense.
ALYA: We’re so stupid! We should have seen this coming!
SABINE: We really should have been keeping a more watchful eye!
CHLOÉ: Yeah, and Lila deserves a pounding once we get back!
ADRIEN: Wait a minute, wait, hold on! Now is not the time to be hysterical!
NATHANIEL: Now is the perfect time to be hysterical!
ROSE: Should we be hysterical?
ALIX: No!
CHLOÉ: Yes!
ADRIEN: Maybe! But not right now! (SIGHS) Let’s call it a day now and figure it out in the morning.
(Later, the group lays asleep throughout the villa. Plagg goes up to Adrien.)
PLAGG: (WHISPERING) You are concocting something right now, are you?
ADRIEN: No one concocts plans while they sleep, Plagg. Quiet before someone hears you.
(Fade to black.)

The Dupain-Cheng Family (and friends) Rewritten
Below are my rewritten backstories for Marinette, Marc, Socqueline, Alya, Nora, and Nino
Marinette Dupain-Cheng:
Marinette was born on November 20th to her parents Tom and Sabine Dupain-Cheng Since she was born, Marinette was always weirdly intertwined with anything and everything that had to do with creating, which, according to her mom, ran in the family She always had a knack for baking, and she loved fashion so she was quick to pick that up too, she also had a habit of helping with things like scheduling or math or other things that had to do with organization With those things, it wasn't much of a surprise to her that she was neurodivergent, having both ADHD and autism Her friends, Alya and Nino, often told her how awesome her clothes were and that even their families liked them, and the constant praise she got from something she adored doing was what birthed MDCDesigns
Marc Anciel:
Marc was born on January 2nd to his parents Séverin and Diane Anciel Being autistic and narcoleptic made Marc's early years of life difficult, just one would make it difficult, let alone both, so for most of their life they didn't have friends, falling into their family for support They loved their family, of course they did, but it didn't help their case of being the weird kid who passed out like a scared goat, and it was even worse when they realized they were gay and a demi-boy as well Thankfully for them, they met Alix, another person who didn't fall into the gender binary society placed around them from a young age and the two became quick friends Marc didn't like talking to new people, so it was a surprise at how easy it came to them with Alix, but unsurprisingly, Alix's friend Nathaniel was hard to talk to, not just because he was a new person but also because Marc had a stupidly huge crush on him…
Socqueline Cheng:
Socqueline was born on June 1st and adopted by Cosette Cheng when she was 10 Going from no family and few friends to an entire extended family with two cousins, two aunts, two uncles, and a bunch of other family members was like whiplash to Socqueline, but she loved it and she'd never trade her family for anything Despite not being blood related, Socqueline would do anything for Marinette and Marc, often being the first to offer a hand, and in some cases a fist, whenever either needed it When she went to université, her first thought was if her cousins would be fine on their own, but once her homesickness wore off, she began to live her life, meeting her best friend Allan and even beginning to date someone she adored
Alya Césaire:
Alya was born on February 26th to her parents Otis and Marlena Césaire and is the younger sister to Nora and the older sister to twins Etta and Ella. Throughout Alya's life she had always been obsessed with superheroes, so much so that for every party she had it was a different superhero depending on which she was most obsessed with at the time, her room was decorated with all the superhero merch her family could afford, and she'd also gush about the heroes all over the world whenever the news of whatever they did reached Paris. Her love never changed for heroes, never once faltered, and her love of superheroes was what led her to meeting her friends Nino and Marinette, as they also loved the heroes, specifically the United Heroez in New York. When she was 15, she started a blog that focused mostly on the United Heroez, but also updated people on heroes all around the world. She did her best to keep it as updated as possible but her main focus was keeping places who didn't have heroes such as Paris in the loop of what the worlds heroes were up to. She's not exactly friends with Aurore and Mireille but since the three of them run the school blog, Alya does run into them from time to time and the three tend to rant about things on Alya's blog
Nora Césaire:
Nora is a professional kickboxer, who has gone through multiple tournaments at her young age Over the last few years she began to train others in kickboxing and self-defense
Nino Lahiffe:
Nino was born on July 5th to his parents Philbert and Jeanne Lahiffe and is the older brother to Chris. From the moment he was born, Nino loved music, so much so that many of his presents (once he could use them) were music related. He got headphones, a record player, a laptop to make music, and so on. Nino's parents were friends with Marinette's, so since the two were born only a few months apart from each other, their parents made constant playdates between the two, and they had been friends ever since. Sometime during their first year of Lycée, the two had met Alya and became an unstoppable and inseparable trio of friends.

I still don’t know why Nora's persona and akuma form has to do with Anansi. Anansi is known for being an intelligent trickster. He's also the king of all stories. Nothing about Nora's headstrong, straightforward personality demonstrates a connection of this. Also, as a kickboxer, the fighting style doesn't really have a moveset I would associate with spiders unless you really stretch it. I just hate how this show keeps on bringing up how diverse it is, but doesn't put into research why certain animals and figures are important to us. Nora is African? Just have her be any African god, and not explain why it's significant to her. Sabine is Chinese? Just make her into quilin despite having no connection to the creature. Jessica is Native American? Well eagles seem to be important somehow but instead of looking into why let's just associate her with the US symbol, there shouldn't be any problems with that 🙄
I still don't get how you take Anansi, someone known for being a trickster who managed to strike a deal with a god to his stories, and base an Akuma off him who is basically a dumb brute with spider powers. You could have named her anything else, and nothing would have changed.
But like you said, the representation for people of color in Miraculous Ladybug has always been glorified window dressing. The show usually goes for some of the most barebones aspect of different cultures, and Anansi is no exception.

Guilt and Consequences Pt21
Beginning   Previous
"So how many times have you been thrown out of schools exactly?" Izzy seemed to be taking this whole thing fairly well, but Lila hesitated.
"Twenty-six." Sabine's eyes widened at the number, but Izzy laughed.
"We're definitely related." At Lila's confused look, Izzy kept going. "I've been thrown out of just about every boarding school in the US and five in Europe. Of course, mine were because of grades more than anything else."
"But you're smart."
"That really doesn't matter when you refuse to do anything but doodle on tests and homework. It was my form of willful disobedience for my grandparents pulling me out of the public school I was in. Not the brightest thing to do, but I was hurting and extremely pissed off about being pulled out of what was left of my life." She frowned at the ceiling. "If not for Aunt Penny, I probably would have done worse."
"Who?" Lila's question made Izzy's eyes light up.
"That's right, you only met her a couple of times when you were really little. She'll be so happy when she hears you're alive. She's Dad's sister. Well, adopted sister, but that's beside the point. I'll text her to see when she's going to be in Paris next."
"That wouldn't happen to be Penny Rolling, would it?" Lila almost choked at the question, but Sabine sounded amused.
"Yes actually, do you know her?" Lila heard laughter and turned to see Chloe and Marinette on the stairs.
"I guess you are actually connected to Jagged Stone, Rossi." Chloe's tone was dry. Lila groaned.
"Alya can't find out about this. It'll just make her more determined to believe I was telling the truth all along." Wait... Jagged and Penny both loved Mari. "She's going to hate me." Izzy just looked confused, but Sabine rolled her eyes.
"No, she won't. You're family, and it's not like you were purposely trying to cause harm."
"Jagged Stone loves Mari just as much as he does Ladybug. There's no way they're going to be okay with me."
"Wait, your daughter is the little designer Penny told me about?" Great, even Izzy knew about Mari's talent. She'd be lucky if Penny even acknowledged her, let alone wanted anything to do with her. Sabine nodded with a proud smile.
"They don't need to know what happened, and it was all a big misunderstanding anyway." Chloe scoffed at Mari's declaration, and Lila just wanted to bash her head into a wall. Mari was the only one who could possibly consider what happened a misunderstanding. Even Izzy was looking at the girl like she had a screw loose.
"I'll talk to Penny and explain things. It will be fine, I promise." Izzy's words should have been comforting, but Lila just felt sick. The fact that she had to be explained to a relation didn't say much for her. "Why don't we head out to get your stuff? We'll worry about the rest when it happens."
"I suppose." Izzy frowned at her and Lila had a feeling she knew that she'd be worrying about it, regardless. When she stood, she pulled Lila with her before turning to Sabine.
"We'll be back later, but I'll probably take Riley out for dinner after we're done, so it won't be quick." The woman just smiled at them.
"Of course. Have fun." The smile Izzy wore worried her. It was more manic than anything else.
——————————————————————
"You're not going to tell me what happened, are you?" Lila had come back into the lobby to find the staff cowering behind their desks while Izzy glared at them from near the doors. She'd rushed her out to the car before Lila could say anything.
"It's nothing you need to worry about." She got into the backseat as the driver held the door. She hadn't expected it, but it made sense that Izzy had a driver. Especially in a place she didn't know well. It still felt weird, especially with the man eyeing them like he expected an explosion. Whatever happened, it must have been loud enough for him to hear it. "You just need to worry about where you want to go to eat after we get you a camera and a new laptop just in case she can track that as well."
"I've been through everything on there and haven't found anything suspicious, but most of my stuff is backed up so it's not a big deal either way." She didn't mention that she hadn't stored anything she considered important on anything but flash drives and SD cards she could hide easily in years.
"I'll keep your old one with me just like your phone, so you'll be able to get whatever you need from it. I just don't want to risk her finding you."
"You really don't need to buy me a new one. I'm sure I can use Marinette's or go to a library if I have to for anything while you get things figured out." Izzy sighed.
"It's not about what you can work with. I want to get you whatever you need or want so that you don't have to go without anymore. Just let me try to assuage my guilt, please." The last part sounded almost desperate, so Lila dropped it. She wasn't certain how to feel about someone spending so much on her, but if it made Izzy feel better it seemed like it would be okay. "You're thinking too hard again. I can see it."
"Is there something wrong with me?" She winced as soon as the words came out. The question had been floating around in her head as long as she could remember, but she hadn't meant for it to come out.
"Why do you think something is wrong with you?" Izzy's tone was off.
"I... I don't understand things I should. Even when I was little, I acted differently from how everyone thought I should."
"Being different doesn't mean something's wrong with you. You see and relate to the world in a way most people don't." Lila could only frown at her. That certainly sounded like something was wrong. Izzy sighed. "Riley, everyone sees the world differently. I see it in terms of how much I can piss off my grandparents. Your friend Marinette sees it in terms of design. Mine is certainly less healthy, but that doesn't make either inherently wrong."
"How do I see it?" It was a stupid question. How was Izzy supposed to know that?
"Why and how." Izzy's words sounded like a statement, not a question, and that just confused Lila more. "You look at everything around you and ask why and how it works. You ask why things are the way they are. You ask how things can be different. It's against your nature to just accept things at face value. It's why it never even occurred to you that lying to those nitwits would backfire."
That was... an interesting theory. It seemed true to a point, but if she wasn't affected by something, or wasn't interested in it, she ignored it. If it became an issue, she'd research it. It was why she'd read so many books on psychology to try to understand the way her mother was with her. It hadn't helped at all, but she did try.
"Would it be easier if I just accepted things?" Izzy frowned at her.
"Easier for who? No, never mind. First, you would go insane if you didn't pick things apart. Second, giving other people the advantage like that is a terrible idea. If you don't look past the surface, it can be dangerous. Look at our father." Lila blinked in confusion at the tone.
"You blame him?"
"I don't want to influence your opinion of him, but all he had to do was look into her actions, or what she was doing with his money. He never did. Misplaced trust is the quickest way to get hurt. Look at Marinette." Lila tried to remember anything from the time before her father died, but there wasn't much.
"I don't remember him spending time with me. I do remember you arguing with him. He always said you were too cynical." Izzy winced.
"He was of the opinion that I didn't like your mother because I was jealous of the time he spent with her, and nothing I said would get him to think otherwise. I think he tried to not spend individual time with you because he thought it would make me angry. If I'd realized that at the time, I would have tried to do something about it."
She didn't know how to respond to that, but luckily they made it to the electronics store. Maybe she could come up with something if she had time to process. The store wasn't bad. She found a nice camera, and Izzy insisted on buying extra lenses for it too. Their computer selection wasn't great, but they had the components to upgrade or build yourself. Lila protested, but Izzy said buying everything she needed to build a desktop would let her get what she wanted (even though Izzy seemed set on getting the most recent and powerful components) and it would give her something to do while she had to hide at Mari's house. Besides, she shouldn't need a laptop until her mother was dealt with and they could get her a new one then. Lila didn't really think she needed two, let alone three, computers, but Izzy seemed so excited about it.
When they finally left, Izzy asked her if she'd figured out where she wanted to eat. Lila mentioned a cafe nearby she wanted to try, just to make sure they didn't end up in some high scale restaurant. She really didn't want to be stared at because they weren't wearing the right clothes, and she'd heard good things about the cafe.
"Lila!" How could her luck possibly be this bad? "Why haven't you been at school?" Seriously? She turned to look at Alya and Nino walking towards her. Alya's older sister was sitting at a table nearby. Fantastic.
"She's transferring to a different one." Alya glared at Izzy and Lila didn't even want to know what was going through her mind. Izzy, on the other hand, seemed to just dismiss the girl.
"Who are you?" The demanding tone just got an eye roll, and Lila could practically see the steam building in Alya's head. She really didn't want to deal with her being Akumatized again.
"Izzy's my sister. If you don't mind, we'd really like to eat in peace." She didn't know where the words came from, or the cold tone, for that matter. Izzy wrapped a comforting arm around her shoulders. Alya and Nino both just seemed stunned. She tried to walk away before Alya found her voice, but she didn't manage it.
"You don't need to transfer. Whatever Marinette threatened you with, we can help." Lila could only groan and bury her head in Izzy's side. It shouldn't be possible for someone to be this stubborn about something so stupid.
"Oh, you're that classmate." Alya bristled at Izzy's tone but didn't have time to respond. "Look, you really need to drop this. I don't hold out any hope you'll listen to reason, but if you don't stop this nonsense, I'll be sure to get restraining orders for both my sister and Marinette. They don't need all this stress."
"I'm trying to help her." Alya's indignant tone caused Izzy to pinch the bridge of her nose.
"No, you're not. You're trying to prove to yourself that you were right to believe Riley, and that your opinion of Marinette is justified."
"Who's Riley?" Yeah, this was just going to make things more complicated.
"I am. My mother changed my name a long time ago, but I prefer Izzy use the name I was born with." They didn't seem to know what to do with that.
"Why would she change your name?" Nino at least just sounded confused. Lila wished she had an answer for him, but she didn't actually have a clue what her mother's reasoning was.
"It doesn't matter. And it's really not the point." Even Lila could hear how drained she sounded. "I made a huge mistake lying to you all and assuming you'd call me on it, and I own that. But you need to stop blaming Marinette, of all people, for my bad behavior and your ignorance." She only just noticed that Alya's sister had walked over, and she seemed extremely confused.
"What happened with Mari? You never said anything."
"She's been bullying Lila ever since she transferred."
"Marinette? Tiny ball of sunshine that wouldn't stand up for herself over anything, but always helped and stood up for her friends? That Marinette?" Oh thank god, someone else could see the insanity. Alya blinked at her for a moment, as if trying to get her brain to reset.
"She's jealous because Adrien likes Lila more than her." That just got another frown, and Lila fought not to gag at the thought.
"That doesn't sound like her. Didn't she help the model when he wanted to date someone?" That definitely sounded like Mari, but Lila hadn't heard about it. Must have been before she came or while she was out of school.
"That's not the same." She actually stomped her foot when she said it. Rather than responding to her, her sister turned to Lila.
"Was Marinette bullying you?"
"No. I lied, and she called me on it. That was it." Well, that was all Mari did, at least. Alya looked like she was going to argue, but her sister shot her a look and her mouth clamped shut.
"Why don't you two go back and sit down?" Alya pouted, but she and Nino did go back to the table. "I'm Nora." She held out a hand and Lila just blinked at it. Izzy shook it instead.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Izzy, and this is my sister Riley, er, Lila. Have you decided what you want other people to call you by chance?" Lila just shrugged. Nora just seemed to roll with it.
"Did I hear something about restraining orders?" Lila cringed, but Izzy just sighed.
"Look, I know that Riley isn't innocent in all this, but your sister is blatantly refusing to believe she was wrong about her. She's already attacked Marinette once with some of their other classmates and I'm not about to risk it again. That girl has dealt with enough because of this nonsense."
"They did what!?" More than a few patrons side eyed them at Nora shout. "Do you have proof of that?"
"There's a video if you'd like to see it, but as I said, right now, everyone just wants to be done with this. Marinette doesn't want to get anyone in trouble, but neither her mother nor I are going to let this continue. If you can just get your sister to calm down and back off, it would solve a lot of problems. Marinette and Lila are both transferring to a different school and that should be the end of this."
"Mari's transferring over this?" Nora ran a hand down her face. "Alya doesn't do calm, but I'll talk to her and our parents. My mom's been trying to get her to agree to therapy for all the hero chasing she does, but I'll back her up this time. If what you're saying is true, she needs it more than I thought. I would like to see that video though, no offense." Izzy just pulled out her phone. When she'd asked for the video while they were talking earlier, Lila hadn't thought much of it. She certainly hadn't expected to need it so soon.
"Of course." She handed the phone to Nora and Lila just waited. She seemed far too calm, but she developed a twitch in her right cheek as she watched. When she handed the phone back, her expression was blank.
"Thank you. You can tell Madam Cheng that Alya won't be bothering her daughter again."
"I'm sorry." It took her a second for Lila to realize the words came from her. She'd been thinking them since this conversation started, but she hadn't meant to say them. Nora cocked her head in confusion. "None of this would have happened if not for me."
"Alya is old enough to make her own decisions. Regardless of what you told her, her actions were her own and completely unacceptable. Her being so suggestible is another thing we're going to have to address. Thank you for bringing this to our attention." She sounded grim, and Izzy frowned at her.
"You don't seem surprised."
"Tempers run in our family. It's why we've all been Akumatized except mom. My outlet is sports, and we thought Alya's was her blog and running after the heroes. I'm not surprised that this happened, but I can believe she'd do that to Mari, especially after everything she’s done for her."
"Maybe being Akumatized has something to do with." Yet another thought that she didn't expect to come out of her mouth. Nora frowned at her. "It's just that everyone in the class has been Akumatized, except Marinette and Adrien, and they're the only two that know I was lying. Well, Adrien knew because Ladybug called me out in front of him, so maybe not. But maybe being taken over like that leaves people vulnerable to suggestion. It would explain why he tends to go after the same people so much if he basically leaves a door open." Now they were both frowning at her. Nora ended up letting out a bark of laughter.
"Thanks for that thought, kid. Because I didn't have enough to be worried about." Lila opened her mouth to apologize, but Nora put a hand on her shoulder. "It's fine. You might even be right, so that's one more reason to get Alya, and all of us honestly, into therapy. I'll let you get on with your meal." She watched as Nora grabbed Alya and practically dragged her outside, Nino jogging behind to keep up. She looked back at Izzy to find her still frowning at her.
"Is that what you really think is happening?"
"It makes sense logically, but given we're dealing with magic, I don't know. It may just be that he has a limited range or something else entirely as well. I don't have enough information to be certain." Izzy was still frowning at her, but eventually shook her head as if trying to get rid of a thought.
"We'll talk more about this later, but we do need to eat." Lila wasn't certain what else there was to talk about, but she just nodded. "Please tell you you've gotten over your 'I only eat green food' phase."
