aus im thinking about instead of writing right now:
emil au where his darling is even more of a femboy than he is and is basically a morticia adams type and it drives him insane
emil isekai au
silvan au where the roles are swapped and you're a human, maybe a vampire hunter, and silvan is a weak pathetic vampire who is desperate for your blood and sobs every time you let him have a drop
noemie college au where instead of being a jason/micheal meyers type slasher you're more like a traditional serial killer and by day you work as noemie's college professor and by night you fulfill your sick cannibalistic craving. noemie becomes your TA and turns out he has a crush on you his professor and the artful serial killer terrorizing the town!! and he is so fucking excited when he finds out you're both.

📩 Simblr question of the day: Choose a sim of your own that you consider your/a fave, then choose one sim from three (or more!) different simblrs, now imagine what those sims would be like in a room together? Who's walking out first? Who's staying the longest? Who would get along? Who wouldn't get along at all? Elaborate as much or as little as you'd like :) (p.s please feel free to share this to others, anon or not, and feel free to use the hashtag " SQOTD "! I love seeing everyone's answers and reading them makes my day ~ 💛 ) (p.p.s I saw you ask for the best friend ask, be on the lookout for that sometime soon :))
Oh my gosh I have so many ideas I'll have to put them under a cut!
Brunch Date
First up we're going BIG! I'm talking time to ship up every single member of the York family to go and meet the Alegria family by @matchalovertrait! Wouldn't be too massive of a trip though since we're mostly all in Tartosa.
I suspect Devin and Dulce would get along. I think Aaron would probably be a bit too pompous for Erick to maintain a conversation with. I'm guessing Noemi would probably not mind talking to Calista since they're both family and career women. Angel would probably be the one helping Joey make sure Alfred and Rilian are having fun.
Supernatural Hang out
Sending my werewolf Samir, his boyfriend Reece, and the Knightstone's to try and make friends...
They would be meeting up with Caleb and Morgan by @marcishaun, as well as Lou and Lux by @ethicaltreatmentofcowplants.
As well as Priscilla, Tony and Moumou by @eljeebee and the Bohan family by @aliengirl.
First up Moumou (who's a cat if you didn't know) would be surrounded by all the younger sims. The youngest would probably just all be sitting there making imitation cat noises. I like to think Silas would be interested to meet Carina and Orion and have a million questions about how they manage to look both human and alien at the same time.
Blue would tell Adam how he carried a pregnancy and Adam would storm off in horror for several reasons. First off Adam doesn't want more kids. Plus he's hot headed. Then of course Adam hates UFO aliens getting humans pregnant and would probably feel like the tale hits to close to home, even though Rhea and Blue made their kids with love. Suzanna however would be fascinated to learn about the process.
Priscilla would likely try to cheer up Caleb about being a vampire while Tony would probably try to impart some wisdom about being a human in love with an immortal to Morgan.
Let's be real Samir would probably sit there brooding the entire time but Reece would undoubtedly be chatting at a million miles an hour with Lou and Lex to try and learn all he could about real werewolves.
EDIT: I forgot my main point which is I think most of them would enjoy talking about plants and gardening and nature.
Animal Get Together
Cluckton would be hanging out in a park with Matilda from @sharona-sims...
Le Chat by @akitasimblr, Nougat by @kissalopa and Daisy by @lauralovelysims
They would get up to mysterious animal things
Universes Collide
Amiyah and her siblings by @deardiaryts4 are invited to the Chopra Homestead!
I would invite the other Rahul but I think things could get awkward if Amiyah's parents show up considering her Cassandra is best friends with the woman who married and then divorced Rahul...
I think Amiyah would spend the time trying to teach Savannah and Mercedes how to dance and would probably give them several make overs. Cassandra would find it fascinating to meet these alternate universe Rahul offspring where as Rahul would probably be a bit creeped out.
Casual Drinks!
Sending Joey to meet the infamous Ben Ben by @slightly-ludic for a night on the town! You know Ben needs a drink after that Jungle Adventure!
Of course we're also inviting Astrid by @simmerbeans and Stan and Milena by @stargazer-sims.
A lot of the talk would revolve around travel and what different countries are like. I think Astrid would love talking to Ben and Stan, Joey would do his best to comment on the conversation but secretly be eyeing up whatever single ladies are in the bar. Of course Joey and Ben would say some dopey stuff earning them eyerolls from the other three. I think the younger ones would benefit from time with Stan and Milena though, get some life lessons.

Conference Recap: SeleniumConf 2023
This year, I had the honour and pleasure of attending SeleniumConf 2023. This was the first in-person, full-blown Selenium conference since 2019. This year the conference was held in Chicago, Illinois which is pretty convenient for me, since I live a couple of lakes over in Toronto.
Overall, it was a wonderful conference with great people talking about a great piece of software. Here are some thoughts and highlights:
Selenium State of The Union
As this was the first Selenium Conference in a while, there were several notable changes from the Selenium project itself. One change is that now Diego Molina of Sauce Labs is the main maintainer of the project, taking over for the esteemed Simon Stewart. Diego gave the Selenium State of the Union keynote to open the conference (side note, all conference talks are now available on the Selenium channel on YouTube).
One happy note about this opening keynote is that there was a lot of focus on the Selenium community and providing encouragement to contribute to the project in some way. The Selenium community is fairly large, particularly if you include end users of the Selenium WebDriver, Grid and IDE, so it is good to see the Selenium contributors reaching out to the community for help. The next year or so definitely seems like a great time to contribute to the Selenium project if you've ever wanted to. Diego's keynote highlights this pretty well.
Marketing Releases vs Technical Releases
Another big happening in the Selenium world since the previous SeleniumConf was the highly anticipated release of Selenium 4, which including solidifying the W3C protocol specification, relative locator strategies, and some other technical updates. A lightbulb moment for me was during a conversation with longtime Selenium aficionado Adam Goucher where he mentioned that while Selenium 3 and 4 were technical releases because of these technical features, Selenium 5 could be a marketing release that has some really great UX and quality-of-life updates. This meant that while Selenium versions 3 and 4 were mainly about technical changes in the application itself, Selenium 5 could be a release mainly focused on cool stuff that end users want to see. Software is like this, whether open source or not: there are important technical aspects of a piece of software on the inside, and there's the shiny fun stuff on the outside. Both aspects are critical for high quality software but sometimes the technical takes precedence over the shiny and vice versa. Thinking about both is what makes good software great.
The talks were good, actually
Chatting with a few people in and around the conference, some people mentioned how the talks overall in both tracks were quite good, and I have to agree. While I've seen some talks that fall into the "two stars, would not watch again" category (which is another blog post in itself), the quality of talks overall at SeleniumConf this year was quite good! Some selected talks that I enjoyed:
The second keynote of day one was from Erika Chestnut who gave an excellent talk on building a culture of quality as finding missed opportunities. This is a great talk for test developers and non-test developers alike. One analogy that struck me was Erika using the analogy of a culture without quality as cooking without seasoning, which I'm still working my mind around.
Noemi Ferrera aka TheTestLynx gave a great talk on web crawlers, which provided a nice overview of how to think about web crawlers and different approaches for different contexts.
A talk that I personally enjoyed was Benjamin Bishoff's talk on identifying code smells. In efficient fashion, he presented twenty-one (!) object-oriented programming code smells and provided examples and explanations of each one during his talk. You can read more about his time at SeleniumConf.
Another talk that I enjoyed a surprising amount was Shi Ling Tai's live demo of difficult to test web UI elements using UI-licious. The live coding examples went very well considering she presented cases that are traditionally "flaky" for web automation, and the talk was crisp and fun.
The second day's keynote was given by the always great Mark Winterinham who talked about what exactly people do in test automation. This was a great keynote for test automation specialists since it gave a description of automation as a story that we tell.
and of course, I have to mention my talk, Selenium in the Clouds which went well.
Tools are tools are tools
A theme that I found interesting that arose through several talks was the discussion of tooling. A few times I heard from people who were not me phrases like "Selenium is only a tool" or "learn to use different tools for different purposes" and so on. To me this is a nice trend to see at conferences like SeleniumConf, since many folks who use Selenium use other similar but different tools as well. The idea of "only" using this tool or that, or test automation "never" using this tool or such, is one that is frankly incorrect and unhelpful. Learning to think critically of tools in your context is an important lesson and I'm glad to see this at such a mainstream software conference.
I really love Chicago
As I mentioned at the top of this article, Chicago is pretty close to Toronto which was a motivator to go to SeleniumConf this time around. However, I've been to Chicago before and this trip reminded me of how lovely a city Chicago is. It's a large city but it is also walkable: I was able to find everything I needed within a short walk of the hotel venue. The architecture of Chicago is beautiful, diverse and yet somehow coherent. Plus, there's deep dish pizza.
Between the beautiful city, the great venue and the excellent conference staff and volunteers, SeleniumConf 2023 was a hit.

What binds more a Pokémon family together than a Quirky, playful, energetic and annoying Aipom? A very sneaky little friend who decided to live in an orchard on Road 33 next to Azalea Town in the Johto Region, unfortunately the owners didn't agree with that decision as Aipom was stealing their fruits, degrading their installations to make a playground and simply stealing stuff in their houses. I met them at the town's Poké Mart, they were arguing about what to buy to scare him off and not resisting but to listen about a mischievous Pokémon too quick to be caught, I decided to propose my help before they try to hurt it. What I discovered there was beyond my expectations, they didn't have a big orchard and what Aipom did there left me speechless, fruits were spilled and rotting all over on the ground, most of the trees lost their leaves and looked completely dead, it was a whole mess, we started investigating but it didn't take long to find Aipom, actually it was him who found us, very interested to see new faces, he came to meet and quickly started trying to steal our bags and accessories, he was very adamant about his skills and so they were, in no time we lost bags, gloves, hats, glasses and much more and quickly disappeared between the trees. I got angered from that quick robbery and looked for Aipom until night, the farmers decided to let us stay over for the night to thank for our help, they explained the story of how since Aipom arrived he destroyed everything around and they quickly lost earnings not able to sell as much fruits as before, and if they don't quickly get rid of him they will have to sell the farm and live somewhere cheaper, something they were not ready to do. In the morning I left early and came back with something an Aipom could never resist : noisy toys. I sat them around the orchard and asked everyone available to wait hiding next to it with a butterfly net, my friend Noemie was the one to catch him, and we all rushed to her when she alarmed about it. Aipom seemed really scared and tried to escape the net with strength. I was able to talk to him and he seemed to listen but one of the owners couldn't help but threat him and he escaped using Dig, to pop out a bit farther and run away, but this time I wasn't ready to let him go, I rushed after him and he disappear through a hole under a tree between some roots. Hoothoot was able to help me figure out a nest was hiding in there, and Aipom wasn't alone. I started trying to talk with him, I explained I didn't mean any harm but he couldn't keep hurting the world around him, and on and on until he finally came out, he looked very worried, I explained I knew he wasn't alone, reluctantly he went back inside to drag out, on a bed made of bark and leaves, a Pichu and a Cleffa, looking gravely sick, I figured Aipom brought them to the orchard to help them. I told Aipom they were much more sick than he thinks and they needed medical help, with fear he accepted and we where able to bring them to the Pokémon Center, it took some days to heal them but once it was done they were quickly running around. Aipom was relieved they weren't sick anymore but anyone could tell he felt sad not being of help anymore, I told Aipom he could come with us if he wanted, I could use a swift and quick thinking thief in battles, he accepted but only at the promise the farmers keep Pichu and Cleffa with them, which they accepted without thinking twice. I caught Aipom with a Friend Ball, I bought from Mr Kurt, a ball maker from Azalea. We quickly got along and despise his size he proved himself to be a resourceful fighter, giving great damage to Whitney's Milktank, taking down Pryce's Piloswine or inflicting great damage to a Dragonite. But most recently, he was brought along with me in the time accident leading to Hisui, once again showing himself to be a great help in many situation. He mastered Acrobatics, Ice Punch, Agility and Shadow Claw, but his Run Away ability still makes him a hard Pokémon to catch.

I got tired of building, so I decided to make some couple pictures of my Simmies in (front of) their houses :) (you’ll have to click the pictures to see them properly because tumblr is making them look terribly grainy on the dash preview). Aren’t Ryan and Rick the cutest?
I’ll toss some bonus pictures in the queue (except for Kesha and Kent, they’re so flawless, they only needed to take one picture).
