Totally looking a gift horse in the mouth here, but I'm a little bummed we didn't get to see Noel Wells and Eugene Cordero play their live action characters.

The animated series Star Trek Lower Decks premiered on Aug 6, 2020. It was the 9th Star Trek series, the first animated series since Star Trek the animated series (1973 - 1975), the first Star Trek comedy series, and the first series to premiere the same year as another Star Trek series (Picard). Production during the first seaaon had to be modified due to Covid. The series events began in the year 2380 and focused on jr officers and what would be normally secondary characters on a Federation Star Fleet ship. ("Second Contact", Star Trek: Lower Decks, TV Event)

So…. Just found this out… And I won’t lie. I’m absolutely devastated. 😭 Before I discovered the vivzieverse - this is the first show EVER that I could put on repeat and not get sick of.

I grew up on Star Trek. And I’ve always loved it. But I’ve never truly RELATED to any of the shows like I have with Lower Decks (and to a lesser degree, Prodigy). I WISH I could have grown up as a kid watching a Star Trek like this…

The diversity of characters in this show transcends past Star Treks because it builds from the bottom up. We see all the imperfections. We get to see the relationships and the silly quirks in EVERY episode, not just here and there.

I could write essays on this show, the characters and the stories - and maybe I might lol. But my main point is this: anything can be done on this show. Any story can be told. Any alien race can be shown. Any planet, dimension, ship or landscape imaginable… Only our imaginations is what limits what can be done in an animated show.

I only got a Paramount+ subscription for Star Trek.

BAD move Paramount… BAAAAAAD move. Lower Decks WILL find a new home (see Prodigy)! And you will rue the day, Paramount! RUUUUUUE!
