File No. 613
EXTERMINATED
(Tw: Death, Vague Descriptions of Child Abuse, Dog Attacks)
- - -
Alias(es): M*********, ‘Abigail Williams,’ ‘The Kanewich Child,’
Location(s): Kanewich; Massachusetts, Abelton; Ohio
Classification: Demonic, Witch, Humanoid Abomination
- - -
Description:
Subject took the form of a teenaged female human at time of extermination, though It was later confirmed to have also appear as a infant, toddler and child, (200x) mimicking the life cycle of a human. Eye witness (Judith Bell, 20xx) had difficulty recalling exact facial features of subject at this time.
It presented a gaunt, white face and corpselike appearance, similar to an undead or ghoul, as well as black hair and eyes the colour green, described by relations as ‘soulless.’ (200x) Its ability to blend in with the human population allowed It to remain undetected for years as It infiltrated the Williams family and continued Its insidious attacks while posing as an innocent. It was fortunately discovered by our agent Nathaniel Hopkins, (died 31st October, 20xx) and was subsequently destroyed before It could act on plans of ***** ***********
Sightings:
Abelton Report (WIP)
Notes:
Subject was responsible for the Abelton Town massacre on 31st of October, 20xx, an incident known to the public as ‘The Harvest Storm.’
Believed to be the offspring of 013, or ******* and the witch Lucina Williams. Other theories suggest that subject was a fully grown homunculus, (Zuri) changeling, (Oisín) or a demon taking the form of a child. (Margarethe & Johann)
Confirmed to be the subject of a case in ********, Illinois, in which an exorcist, James Connagher, was called in on the 1st of July, 20xx in order to remove a supernatural presence from a sick child who was later reported to be ‘Abigail Williams.’ Urielle Preston (née Williams) attempted to use the method of ************ ***** in order to exorcise the demon herself but was unsuccessful, and is believed to have been attacked by the subject’s black magick, forcing her to fall down the stairs where she broke her neck. Connagher was later found to have died from a heart attack, possibly also caused by subject.
Several animals showed hostility or fear when confronted by the subject, including: dogs, cows, sheep, rabbits and deer. (20xx) Instances of multiple dog attacks including a report found dating back to 200x in which a border collie supposedly broke lead to chase subject into a tree.
Recovered several items after exterminating subject, including The ***********, a sickle and silver knife, a box of ***** and herbs emitting a foul odour, and a collection of disturbing artworks and symbols. These items were suspected to be used for black magick and witchcraft, as well as to communicate with *******, and were therefore destroyed by agent Zachariah Johnson.
CAUTION: DISPLAYS ANOMALOUS BEHAVIOUR A ‘ragdoll’ was later found in subject’s surviving belongings, found to be skewered with various pins and needles. It was unable to be destroyed, see Item 613-1 in storage.
CAUTION: POISONOUS Procured sample of the ‘black ooze’ on October xx, 20xx, see Item 613-2 attached.
Subject did not show up correctly on camera footage or film, but rather appeared to be ‘distorted’ or otherwise malformed, see Item 613-3 attached.
IMPORTANT: The subject had caused irreparable damage to the landscape via reality warping, in future agents must be stationed at these places to ensure civilian safety. The forest area has further claimed the lives of ** ‘missing’ cases. We are currently undergoing investigation of the Abelton cornfields, mines and bogs still riddled with ‘black ooze.’ Corpse cleanup operations are likewise still ongoing, as we continue to extract the dead from ***** protrusions. If you are on site when the sky begins to turn green, you must evacuate everyone in the area immediately.
Assigned investigative agent: Nathaniel Hopkins
Exterminated by: Judith Bell
- - -
Date: November 18th, 20xx
Signed: Zachariah Johnson

Hans Zimmer - Interstellar
I've made a few album reviews for this blog before, a funny thing given I know absolutely nothing about music theory. I wanted to talk about my favorite film soundtrack to my favorite movie Interstellar.
As an avid fan of movies, one of the things that lets me down the most isn't bad writing, shaky-cam, or flubbed lines. It's always been bad music. Every Frame a Painting made a terrific video on bad movie music a la Marvel back in 2016 that I think holds up well. The TLDW is this: a few factors are at play; there is a trend that movie music should be "seen, but not heard" in popular action/dramas combined with a quirk of the modern editing process that leads to directors subbing in 'temp music' during post-production. Directors hear the generic temp music, often pulled from other films, dozens or hundreds of times, cut the scenes to the timing of the music, and in the last stages of production, pass things on to the composer and insist the final product sounds like the temp work. Terrible.
This didn't happen on the set of Interstellar. Hans Zimmer recounts in a behind the scenes feature the beginning of the project--ostensibly consulted early on in production.
"I was working on a completely different movie and Chris said to me, 'If you were to write on page of something,' and he wouldn't tell me what the movie was about, 'if you would just write one page,' would I give him one day, just whatever came to mind, and start writing.'"
Nolan had given Zimmer some initial dialogue samples and ideas about the film, details on the genre or the scope.
"This is, of course, where Chris gets [me the idea] strictly about a father and his relationship with his son. It was only later I found out his son wasn't really his son at all, it was his daughter. I sat down and wrote this piece about what it feels like to be a father and what it feels like to have a son--I was writing about my son."
This core theme is the one almost anyone who has seen the movie thinks of--the ever-present organ sequence that beautifully merges into the spinny docking bit in "No Time for Caution." I like the spinny docking song, I like the fun organ bits in general, but this, actually, isn't my favorite bit of the soundtrack.
Interstellar lacks an exact overture. Rather, the three predominant musical themes arrive in their own time in their own tracks. The familiar urgent, building, action theme shows up in "Cornfield Chase," the second track. Following that is "Dust," where Murph meets her Ghost, which feels ethereal and menacing. It comes to embody both the physical antagonists in the movie and the mysterious forces that seem to have transcended reality to save humanity. The first track, "Dreaming of the Crash" starts with the documentary portion of the introduction. There is a rushing, rustling sound of wind through corn stalks.
Corn, sure. But dust. In your ears, your mouth... Dust just everywhere. Everywhere
Before you really process the first notes of music, you hear the sound of an entire choir exhaling at once. A rush, natural and familiar, but not wind or anything you would expect. An organ gradually blends in (I didn't even know organs could sound like this), extending itself to your reality. It sings its measure and there is a pause.
And then, a response.
And the song continues, played in human vocal range, the two voices growing to meet as the organ rises all at once. Cooper wakes up to find Murph by his side.
Were you dreaming about the crash?
This particular theme notably reemerges twice. "Stay" (5) extends upon the melody as Cooper and his daughter are separated for the first time in their lives. The song builds into a beautiful and heart-wrending crescendo as the rocket leaves the atmosphere. While another movie might ham up the music and, resultingly, make the scene feel sappy, Roger Sayer collapsing onto the keyboard genuinely brings a tear to my eye. The same effect is carried on to similar effect in "Detach," (I didn't have a video of the original organist for this one) another emotional moment in a largely passed-over track in discussion when McConaughey's character sacrifices himself for Brand and humanity. The crescendo just builds perfectly and carries you over a tremendous way, done better than even Samuel Barber could manage.
I'll save my thoughts on the fun spinny song, or the cool mountain one with synthesizers for better qualified critics, but I just wanted to leave my thoughts here.
Final Rating: 9.5/10

Billy Knows the Devil - Shark Puppy
“I think this album really took us back to our childhood. We spent a week in Derry and were so inspired when we started writing. We almost coudn’t stop.” - Beverly Marsh
Lyrics
Bill’s Demons
Now he’s staring down the barrel Of a gun he’s pointed at himself Are you strong enough to beat the devil There’s no angel here to help You can pull the trigger Bill But I hope you never will
Hennessy
I’ve traveled the world From Kenya to Peru Stood on mountains, walked through cities All because I’m being chased By a nightmare that came true I’m gonna need something stronger than Hennessy If I’m ever gonna forget this place
Werewolves
Not afraid of who I am Not when he’s buried Six feet underground Could you still love me When you see who I’ve been hiding Six feet underground (six feet underground)
Cornfields
He’s standing in the field Watching in silence Tell me the secret To beating the gods Give me a dagger to wield I’m fighting a tyrant Without any weakness
Paperboats
We’re all just paper boats Drifting out to sea Crashing into walls of drainage gates Battered and bruised (battered and bruised) Ripped and torn (ripped and torn) I want to go back (I wanna go back) When the only paper boats Are the ones I made with you
Skateboard Safety
It’s coming to an end We’re running out of time Take my hand and make the jump Unless you want to be condemned To a life a rules and caution ‘Cuz there’s no such thing (no such thing) As skateboard safety (as skateboard safety)
Yo-Yo’s
Meet me at the movies Pretend that there’s no monsters I’ll be waiting on the balcony An old yo-yo in my hand I’ll kiss you in the dim light Or underneath the marquee If you’ll meet me at the movies
Running with a Shotgun
Dont leave me behind I can’t do it on my own Another casualty of this town I’ve got a broken bike And your dad’s old shotgun But staying here is suicide

Hans Florian Zimmer (born 12 September 1957) is a German film score composer and record producer. Zimmer's works are notable for integrating electronic music sounds with traditional orchestral arrangements. Since the 1980s, he has composed music for over 150 films. His works include The Lion King, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Original Score in 1995, the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Interstellar, Gladiator, Crimson Tide, Inception, Dunkirk, and The Dark Knight Trilogy. He has received four Grammy Awards, three Classical BRIT Awards, two Golden Globes, and an Academy Award. He was also named on the list of Top 100 Living Geniuses, published by The Daily Telegraph. Hans Zimmer, a short biography.
Hans Florian Zimmer (born September 12, 1957, in Frankfurt am Main) is a German film composer, arranger and music producer. He works in Hollywood. He has been nominated eleven times for an Oscar, fourteen times for a Golden Globe Award and eleven times for a Grammy Award. Hans Zimmer received his first Oscar nomination in 1989 for the film Rain Man. In 1995, he was awarded an Oscar for the film music for The Lion King. In 2010, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A star followed in 2011 on the Boulevard der Stars in Berlin. Zimmer was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 2018. Hans Zimmer's soundtrack albums have sold more than 25.4 million copies worldwide. Hans Zimmer was born in Frankfurt am Main, the son of chemical entrepreneur Hans J. Zimmer. As a child, he learned to play the piano in his parents' house, in the Villa Gans in Kronberg, although he only had a piano teacher for a short time because he didn't want to submit to his discipline regarding the basic rules for a pianist. On the Harald Schmidt Show on February 15, 2002, when asked if he had music lessons, he replied: 'Yes, I had them for a week. It was like that, either I would have killed the teacher or he would have killed me.” He was a graduate of Hurtwood House boarding school in Dorking, Surrey, England, and played synthesizers in groups such as Krisma and Helden (with Ultravox drummer Warren Cann). He did not go through an academic musical education. Hans Zimmer is married and has four children. In 1999, at a press conference on the Holocaust documentary The Last Days, he declared that he was Jewish. In 1939 his mother fled from the National Socialists to England.
Years in England In the late 1970s, Hans Zimmer was a composer of commercial music jingles and worked on the modular synthesizer in the video clip of the Buggles hit video Killed the Radio Star. He composed advertising and radio jingles in the London studio Air Edel. There he met the well-known English film music composer Stanley Myers, whose assistant he became in 1980. Zimmer learned a lot about composing for an orchestra from him. Through this collaboration, he received his first smaller commissions for composing film music. In the late 1980s, he drew attention to himself with the soundtrack for films such as Rain Man. Hollywood Zimmer was best known in the early 1990s for his innovative combination of orchestral and synthesizer sounds. With Ridley Scott's Black Rain and Ron Howard's Backdraft - Men Who Walk Through Fire, he created a new style of setting music to action films. Backdraft in particular is considered a milestone in film music history: Zimmer's decision to set the film to music with a so-called 'wall-to-wall score', i.e. to underlay the majority of the film with music, created the prototype for many action film scores that were later released in Hollywood were produced. The style, roughly based on a powerful main theme, rhythmic action motifs, and gentler passages for the two main characters (portrayed by Kurt Russell and William Baldwin), is found in numerous later film scores. Together with his partner Jay Rifkin, he founded the film music studio Media Ventures in the mid-1980s. In 2003, after a legal battle with Rifkin, Zimmer took over the business with his company Remote Control Productions. Remote Control is a kind of talent factory, in which some other film music composers, such as Examples include Steve Jablonsky, James Dooley, Heitor Pereira, and Geoff Zanelli. Notable former Remote Control composers include Klaus Badelt, John Powell, Nick Glennie-Smith, Mark Mancina, and Harry Gregson-Williams. After completing work on Illuminati, Zimmer planned to give a few concerts, but this has only been possible to a limited extent so far, as he has been accepting new orders. In an interview with the website Amazona.de, he said that most of the directors he works with are his friends, so he finds it difficult to turn down an assignment from them. Finally, in 2016, Zimmer was on a major tour of Europe with an orchestra of 70 musicians. Various of his soundtracks were played live in front of an audience, combined with short stories by Zimmer, e.g. about the death of Heath Ledger in 2008, shortly after filming The Dark Knight. The live tour premiered on April 6, 2016, at Wembley Arena in London. The tour ended on June 5, 2016, with a concert in the ancient theater of Orange. Johnny Marr accompanied Zimmer on the electric guitar at a few selected concerts in London, Berlin, Prague, Manchester, Dublin and Orange. Zimmer received a great deal of attention after his concert on April 22, 2016, in the König-Pilsener-Arena in Oberhausen, when he played Prince's song Purple Rain after his death. In 2017, Zimmer was again on the road on a live tour, for the first time in the United States, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. The concert tour began on April 14, 2017 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and ended on October 7 at Seoul Olympic Stadium. Zimmer now lives and works in Los Angeles and is one of the most successful and influential film composers in Hollywood history. In 2018, Hans Zimmer was nominated for an Oscar for the eleventh time. In the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008, Hans Zimmer was an ambassador in Germany. The aim of the European Commission's campaign was to inform people in all 27 EU countries about the benefits of diversity and to get them excited about intercultural exchange. In response to the Aurora attack in July 2012, he released the composition Aurora. All proceeds should be donated to the victims and their families. Style The use of ethnic instruments such as B. the duduk in Gladiator (played by the Armenian duduk player Djivan Gasparyan), flutes in Rangoon - In the heart of the storm or taiko in Last Samurai, is one of his trademarks. This also includes compositions with African influences, such as B. Two Worlds, In the Glory of the Sun, The Lion King and Black Hawk Down, but also music for comedies like It Can't Be Better or Tricks or for the action film The Dark Knight Rises. He works regularly with directors Ridley Scott, James L. Brooks, Gore Verbinski, Penny Marshall and Christopher Nolan. Hans Zimmer himself describes Ennio Morricone as his great idol. Zimmer frequently collaborates with the same musicians. In many pieces of music, a guitar is played by Heitor Pereira or a cello by Martin Tillman. Long before filming begins, Zimmer usually composes suites that contain all the essential components of the later film music. Towards the end of the production, the suites serve as the basis for the music, which is written directly to the picture. But the suites themselves are mostly used in the film and on the soundtrack - e.g. For example, tracks 9 through 13 from The Da Vinci Code soundtrack are the suite written by Zimmer. In an interview, Zimmer explains this way of working as follows: 'I've been thinking about how I've been working lately. Writing things before shooting is a better way. Film technology has changed so much in recent years, especially with computer effects, that it is now possible to make last-minute changes to the film. I think the old way of waiting for the film to finish editing and then writing and recording the music for the last six to twelve weeks or whatever doesn't work anymore these days. So it makes sense to write some of the music before those 12 weeks. That gives you and the filmmakers something to work with while you think about the music to go with the picture. That way, you might have more influence on the style of the film. It also solves those annoying temp track issues.” – Hans Zimmer Other composers often help Zimmer with his music, especially towards the end of film production, by orchestrating, arranging or composing parts for him based on his suites and musical ideas. This collaborative way of working is controversial for some film music fans, but not entirely uncommon in Hollywood. Rupert Gregson-Williams says the following in an interview: “Hans is an icon and – in my opinion – most of the criticism against Media Ventures is completely unfounded. The most common misconception is that everyone works on the issues while Hans gets the credit for it. Well, I worked with Hans in Los Angeles for three months on different scenes for The Prince of Egypt - the sandstorm sequence where Moses is woken up by a camel and the scene with the death of the firstborn - and all the themes were written by Hans. My job was to take the thematic content from Hans and work it into my pieces for the scene. There was a lot of discussion and talk about the contextual meaning behind the film and how the music relates to it, but the driving force behind it was Hans. Just to watch him work, to be creative and to be in this atmosphere for once was wonderful. Also, Hans is a phenomenal orchestrator. That's something people don't understand.' – Rupert Gregson-Williams Hans Zimmer not only composes, but also takes on the execution as the responsible music producer for films, such as 2006 with Over the Hedge and 2015 with Terminator: Genisys.
- HANS ZIMMER

NOLAN.
With some of the most well-known and respected movies in cinema history, Christopher Nolan embodies the phrase “less is more”. Only having written 15 films in his entire career, Nolan is world renowned for his psychologically exerting films and ground breaking screenplays.
Alongside many films of Director Christopher Nolan is mastermind composer, Hans Zimmer. I’m a huge fan of the ‘dynamic duo’, as I like to call them, and will attach my song recommendations from each film’s soundtrack that Zimmer composed.
Hold on to your hats (lol @theprestige), because Nolan plans to ‘wow’ us all over again with his upcoming war film: Dunkirk. Based on true events, Dunkirk features many faces familiar in Nolan’s previous movies, such as veterans Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy. Yet, newcomers like One Direction fan-favorite Harry Styles and Oscar winner Mark Rylance join the cast to make the new Nolan movie better than what we’re expecting. As excited as we are for the Oscar nominated director and screenwriter’s new film, his previous works will stick with us no matter how hard we try to digest what the heck happened at the end of Interstellar. So that takes us right to our next Nolan movie, the survival space feature starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and Jessica Chastain: INTERSTELLAR.
One thing’s for certain: I will never look at an ocean wave the same way again. Nothing stops this father from getting back to his kids, but, with the world on the brink of exodus, Cooper (McConaughey) may not make it back in time. The film also portrays a star studded cast with Oscar winners Casey Affleck and Anne Hathaway as well as two time Oscar nominated Jessica Chastain. Yet, we can’t forget Michael Caine’s devious plans for the future of Earth and, heartbreakingly, Matt Damon’s betrayal as Dr. Mann. Yet, everything from droids TARS and CASE to Hans Zimmer’s genius soundtrack, Interstellar is a film that could possibly be relevant in the future…good thing we know five-dimensional beings exist to lead us through black holes. Hey, at least Matthew McConaughey looks damn good for 156 years old. (Song Recommendations: No Time for Caution, Cornfield Chase)
Speaking of Hathaway and Zimmer, let’s dive into Nolan’s epic Batman Trilogy, primarily The Dark Knight. Perhaps in my top 3 favorite films of all time, The Dark Knight is nothing short of a cinematic miracle. With Christian Bale dawning the mask of the Caped Crusader, 2008′s movie of the year brought with it suspense, drama, humor, terror, and allowed audiences to grasp the mind of a maniacal clown. Heath Ledger, may he rest in peace, brought the movie home–winning the Best Supporting Actor Oscar after his death, his family stepping in for him. My personal favorite out of the trilogy, The Dark Knight features a masterfully done soundtrack, dark and disturbingly good, by legend Hans Zimmer; I’ve attached, at the bottom of the article, a link of Zimmer and Nolan composing the Joker’s theme: Why So Serious?. A captivating script, unmatched cast -again filled with many familiar actors from other Nolan films- and a truly gripping villain, The Dark Knight will be revered on screen for many films to come. (Song Recommendations: Why So Serious?, Agent of Chaos)
Now, if we’re talking mind-blown then we’re obviously talking about Inception. Arguably one of the most complicated, gripping movies of the generation, Inception (and its ending) had me jumping out of my chair and screaming at my poor TV. Who knew the simple plot of a man wanting to return to his children would turn into a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream? Well, thank you, Mr. Nolan, for making it so much more than a trivial plot line as this A-list filled film won 4 Academy Awards and is featured in the 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die book by Steven Schneider. But, the ending?! I’m still trying to get over it. My opinion: It was not a dream, but that may just be the ‘happy-ending’me talking. With the best tag team around, the gurus of inception, those who are trained to infiltrate another’s dreams, fight with death, danger, and projections, the subconscious of the dreamer. The leader, Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), right-hand man, Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), prodigy, Ariadne (Ellen Page), crime boss, Saito (Ken Watanabe), and hunk, Eames (Tom Hardy), dive into the many layers of millionaire Robert Fischer’s (Cillian Murphy) mind, yet, risk being lost in limbo due to Cobb’s haunting, dead wife, Mal, (Marion Cotillard) plaguing the mission. One thing’s for sure, whenever watching Inception, keep your thoughts close and your projections closer. (Song Recommendations: Time, Dream Is Collapsing)
Although I could spend the entire night admiring Christopher Nolan’s work, I’d like to end the article with a film filled with magic, mayhem, and evil twins: The Prestige. By now a veteran of Nolan movies, Christian Bale plays, not one, but two characters, the Borden twins, in this 2006 movie, depicting a pair of frenemy magicians competing for the #1 slot in creating illusions. His competition? Hugh Jackman’s Robert Angier and the race to see who performs “The Transporting Man” better, but soon this turns into a scientific advancement so huge that Nikola Tesla even makes an appearance, in this case we mean the late, great David Bowie who played Tesla in The Prestige. Yes, cloning. But how far will these two rising magicians go to secure the leading spot? Let’s just say pretty far as it results in the demise of many friends, family, and a revolutionary trick’s exposure, breaking a magician’s primary rule: never to reveal their secrets. Although Hans Zimmer did not compose the music for this film, it still includes a great soundtrack and a feature written and played by Radiohead’s Thom Yorke. (Song Recommendations: Analyse by Thom Yorke)
This is the first, and definitely not the last, article about esteemed Director and Screenwriter Christopher Nolan. His films continue to move generations of audiences, all top rated on IMDB and other film sites, and a follow-up of his newest film, Dunkirk, should be soon to follow its release!
