[ad_1] New Delhi: Strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor has thrown his support behind the ongoing protests by Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) aspirants. While addressing allegations surrounding his involvement in the protests, Kishor clarified that he left the protest site 45 minutes before police resorted to lathicharge on the candidates. Kishor has also vowed to take legal action against the police, stating, “We will file an FIR against the police and also approach the court regarding this matter.” Prashant Kishor has Laid Out Five Dey Demands: 1. A re-examination for the BPSC 70th prelims. 2. Financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh for Sonu’s (Student preparing for BPSC who died by suicide) family3. Complete withdrawal of cases filed against candidates involved in the protests. 4. Immediate steps to address grievances of aspirants. 5. Assurance of fair and transparent processes in future BPSC exams. Kishor warned that if the demands are not met, he will lead an indefinite dharna starting January 2. “The government must act responsibly and address these issues. If they fail to do so, we will escalate our protest,” he said. Case Against Prashant KishorThe Bihar Police has also filed a case against Prashant Kishor and others for allegedly instigating the students' protest in Patna's Gandhi Maidan.According to the police, Kishor and other members of his party provoked the candidates, prompting them to take to the streets and create disturbances in different parts of the city.Prashant Kishor's 3-day Ultimatum to Nitish Kumar Govt Prashant Kishor on Thursday had given a three-day time to the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar to resolve issues related to the alleged question paper leak of a recent PSC exam. The state has been witnessing a widespread demonstration by civil service aspirants over the issue and the police faced criticism for using force on protesters.Kishor, whose Jan Suraaj party had last week written to Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena for cancellation of the examination held by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) on December 13, warned the police of protests if job seekers are baton-charged in future. The Jan Suraaj party chief on Thursday reached Gardani Bagh, the designated place for organising protests or dharna, where civil service aspirants have been holding a sit-in for the last several days and demanding cancellation of the December 13 exam."The government must meet protesting students or their representatives and consider their demand for re-examination. I am giving an ultimatum to the state government. The administration must resolve this issue within three days," Kishor said.He extended support to the protesters and said he would join a march on Monday."I am always here to support the students. I will also join protest march of the students tomorrow. I will be at the forefront. If the police resort to baton-charge, I will be the first to face that. The police action against students on Wednesday is highly condemnable," he said while addressing the protesting aspirants.Chaos erupted outside the BPSC office on Wednesday when police baton-charged the protesters who were seeking cancellation of the 70th Integrated Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024.The demonstrators alleged irregularities in the exam, including paper leaks, and sought re-examination.A group of protesters marched towards the BPSC office to press their demands, and a confrontation between police personnel and the job seekers ensued after they were stopped.RJD supremo Lalu Prasad also condemned the police action against protesting job aspirants."Police action against protesting students was wrong. Police should not have done this", Lalu told reporters in Patna on Thursday.Kishor also claimed, "A covil service aspirant died by suicide in Patna on Tuesday, it is unfortunate. The government should announce a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the family of the deceased." It may be recalled that 25-year-old Sonu, a resident
of Patna's Paliganj area, was preparing for competitive exams and he died allegedly by suicide in the Kankarbagh area of Patna on Tuesday.Locals and his relatives informed police that Sonu, who was preparing for multiple competitive exams, including Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) , was living under tremendous stress for the last few months "due to different exams and anxieties about his career", police officials had said.Patna-based popular vlogger Motiur Rahman Khan, known as Guru Rahman, also joined the protests at Gardani Bagh on Thursday. However, Guru Rahman expressed strong displeasure over Kishor's alleged attempt to derive political mileage out of the protest and declared that the Jan Suraj party chief would not be allowed to join the stir on Friday."I am with students and will fight for the cause for which they have been protesting here for the last nine days. We will not allow any opposition leaders to come here and derive political mileage out of the protest. Students demanded the cancellation of the entire exam held on December 13 from the government. Only, if somebody from the ruling party comes here, then we will allow them," said Rahman.Rahman also asked, "Where was Kishor for the last nine days ? He (Kishor) will not be allowed to join the protest of job aspirants tomorrow".When asked about police preparing to register a case against him for instigating students, he said, "I don't care about all these. I will keep fighting for the cause of students".The opposition Congress and Purnea MP Pappu Yadav condemned police action against protestors.Yadav said he would call a Bihar bandh on January 1 if the December 13 examination was not cancelled.Meanwhile, a Delhi-based tutor was held on Thursday on the charge of instigating aspirants who tried to "storm into" the BPSC office in Patna.Patna's District Magistrate (DM) Chandrasekhar Singh told PTI that preliminary investigations into Wednesday's protests found that one Rohit, a tutor, mobilised and instigated the aspirants.Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajeev Mishra said, "Initial investigations have revealed that Rohit had come from Delhi and brought along a number of persons, including girls, posing as disgruntled job aspirants. He is being examined by the investigators." The source of their funding is also being investigated as they seem to be part of a larger conspiracy, he said."We are probing the larger conspiracy behind yesterday's incident. What is the source of funding for those who came from outside the state to instigate civil service aspirants is also the focus of our probe. Rohit seems to be the mastermind of yesterday's protest. Patna Police will send a preliminary report to the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) to investigate their source of funding," he told PTI.Alleging irregularities in the 70th Integrated CCE, aspirants demonstrated outside the BPSC office and sought re-examination.The police baton-charged the aspirants to bring the situation under control. BJP Collects Letters Of Support, RJD In Crisis Mode: What Next For Bihar?
In Bihar, the political landscape is undergoing significant upheaval as reports suggest Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is contemplating rejoining forces with the BJP, a party he parted ways with in 2022. This potential realignment has sparked intense speculation within political circles and raised concerns about the stability of the ruling 'Mahagathbandhan' coalition in the state. Nitish Kumar, often referred to as 'Paltu Ram' for his history of switching between political alliances, had initially left the BJP as part of an effort to consolidate opposition forces against the ruling party ahead of the 2024 elections.
The recent buzz surrounding Nitish Kumar's possible return to the BJP gained momentum after the BJP awarded former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur with the prestigious Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor. Thakur, remembered as a prominent socialist leader and champion of the state's controversial alcohol prohibition policy, holds significant political sway in Bihar even today. This move by the BJP reignited discussions about Nitish Kumar's political future and the potential ramifications for Bihar's political landscape.
Adding to the intrigue, Nitish Kumar's former Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi made a cryptic statement, hinting at the possibility of political doors being open for collaboration. Meanwhile, a pivotal meeting within the INDIA alliance on January 13 saw Nitish Kumar's name proposed as Convenor, only to be met with reservations from Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee. This development underscores the complex dynamics at play within Bihar's political arena and the challenges facing coalition-building efforts.
As speculation mounts, the Bihar government's recent transfer of numerous Indian Police Service (IPS) and Bihar Administrative Service (BAS) officers has added fuel to the fire, suggesting potential shifts in leadership and power dynamics. While the BJP publicly downplays the speculation, behind-the-scenes discussions are reportedly underway, with the party eyeing a reshuffle of the Bihar cabinet and the replacement of RJD ministers. With Nitish Kumar expected to convene a session of the legislature party and potentially stake his claim for the Chief Minister post with BJP's support, Bihar's political future remains uncertain, with far-reaching implications for both state and national politics.

Kejriwal to meet Mamata, discuss Centre's ordinance on administrative services
Kejriwal has met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the ordinance issue and the latter has extended full support to AAP in its tussle with the Centre on the matter.
KOLKATA: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be meeting his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata on Tuesday, an official said.
Kejriwal will be accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo is trying to drum up opposition support over the Delhi government’s fight against the Centre over an ordinance on the control of administrative services in the national capital.
Kejriwal and Mann are scheduled to land at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in the afternoon. They will hold a brief meeting with AAP leaders of West Bengal before visiting the state secretariat Nabanna to meet the Trinamool Congress chief.
“They are scheduled to have a closed-door meeting at the state secretariat. They may also hold a discussion on probable strategies for next year’s general elections,” a senior TMC leader said.
Kejriwal and Mann will leave the West Bengal capital on Tuesday evening.
Kejriwal has met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the ordinance issue and the latter has extended full support to AAP in its tussle with the Centre on the matter.
The AAP chief may also meet Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray and NCP leader Sharad Pawar on Wednesday in Mumbai.
The Centre promulgated an ordinance on Friday to create a National Capital Civil Service Authority for the transfer of IAS and DANICS cadre officers and disciplinary proceedings against them.
This came a week after the Supreme Court handed over the control of services, excluding those related to police, public order and land, to the elected government in Delhi.
An ordinance has to be ratified by Parliament within six months. For this, the Centre will have to bring a bill for its passage in both Houses of Parliament.

NITISH KUMAR - BIHAR POLICE
Nitish Kumar, a Bihar Police officer, is a clever man. He had cultivated a team of informers around him who told him if any alcohol was being smuggled in his region. Acting on such a tip, he was rushing to a crime scene. He knew that the criminals were smart and would be cautious, but he was smarter and dressed himself in civilian clothes to avoid raising any suspicion while raiding the crime scene. A nasty fight ensued as the criminals tried to escape but officer Nitish was efficient. He had barricaded all the exits from the area and successfully captured all the criminals along with all the alcohol they were smuggling into the city. Nitish made sure that his city was safe from unsafe, illegal liquor.

Patna, India — At least 31 people died and 20 others were hospitalized in serious condition after allegedly drinking tainted liquor sold without authorization in eastern India, a top elected official said Thursday. The deaths occurred Tuesday and Wednesday and the victims belonged to three villages in Saran district of Bihar state where the manufacturing, sale and consumption of liquor are prohibited. The deaths were reported in a district government-run hospital where the sick were brought by their families for treatment, said Dr. S.D. Sinha, the hospital chief. Sale and consumption of liquor were prohibited in Bihar state in 2016 after women's groups campaigned against poor workers splurging their meager incomes on drinking. Police officer Santosh Kumar said several of the 20 hospitalized had lost their eyesight. Several opposition parties, including the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, held protests Thursday outside the state legislature building to demand the state's liquor ban be scrapped and some monetary compensation provided to the bereaved families. Sushil Modi, the state BJP leader, said more than 1,000 people have died after drinking tainted liquor since the ban was imposed six years ago. The BJP is in opposition in the state. Nitish Kumar, the state's top elected official belonging to the socialist party Janata Dal, rejected their demands and said the ban on the sale of liquor was "not my personal wish but a response to the cries of the women of the state." Three people have been detained for questioning for allegedly selling spiked alcohol in the area, he said. Saran district is nearly 40 miles north of Patna, the Bihar state capital.
Deaths from illegally brewed alcohol are common in India, where illicit liquor is cheap and often spiked with chemicals such as pesticides to increase potency. Illicit liquor has also become a hugely profitable industry across India, where bootleggers pay no taxes and sell enormous quantities of their product to the poor at a cheap rate. At least 28 people died and 60 others became ill from drinking tainted liquor in the western Indian state of Gujarat earlier this year. Gujarat is another Indian state where the manufacturing, sale and consumption of liquor are prohibited.
In 2020, at least 120 people died after drinking tainted liquor in India's northern Punjab state.
