Drops of Moonlight: A 30th Anniversary Sailor Moon Fanzine Unboxing

My copy of @dropsofmoonlightzine finally arrived! I'm so mad at myself for not getting both editions, but I didn't have the money. Instead I opted for the bundle with all of the extra goodies! I'm especially excited to look through the activity book. As the only one who contributed anything related to polyamory, I'm genuinely proud to be a part of this project, my very first fanzine.

Thank you @brownsugarheartattack, @daikon1, @floraone, @kakyuuu, @nari20, @ninjettetwitch, and @queenrisa14 for putting up with the giant headache that the zine became over the years. I'm sorry that life and the world got in the way. The zine is beautiful and I truly appreciate that you all powered through and delivered on this massive project. Thank you and here's to another 30 years!

Mini collection of stories throughout the original anime run where Usagi and Mamoru keep ending up in the closet together, at first because of fate or luck and later because of their meddling friends.

One Month: Trapped - @sailorsilverladybug

I am going to start with a disclaimer: there are a lot of stranded on an island stories between AO3 and FFN, and one of the themes that runs through is non-consensual intimacy. This particular story is not an exception, but what sets this one apart, and the reason why I included it on the list, is because there is a lot of discussion about consequences and legitimising of feelings for those impacted by the choices of others. Please make sure to check the tags and read the author's note before starting. 

Motoki and (some of) the girls decide that to stop Usagi and Mamoru from arguing they need to kidnap them and leave them on a deserted island for a month to get over their hostility for the good of the world (at least that’s Rei and Minako’s reasoning).

Intentionally Trapped - @ninjettetwitch

After having an absolutely horrible day at work, Mamoru decides to still go to Minako’s party only to blow up at Usagi because of his bad mood. Leading a very stern chat in a stopped elevator followed by a steamy make-up. 

Game Night - @riverlethe

Minako decides that they deserve a night off and best way to have fun is a game “night” at the arcade, where an increasing number of participants eventually includes Mamoru. Running out of games to play, Unazuki eventually suggests “7 Minutes in Heaven”. 

11 Hours - @floraone

This story is based around a study which postulated that with a specific set of questions and at least 4 hours together, two people can start falling in love. In this multi-chapter, our protagonists get stuck in an elevator, discovering things about their past, likes and dislikes, working through social anxiety and preconceived notions.

Hello, everyone!

I hope all of you are safe and healthy during this global epidemic. I have been working from home since mid-March, and adapting to the new normal which we are living has been very interesting, to say the least. Thankfully, we are all healthy and doing our best to flatten the curve. And what better way to stay in than read fanfiction?!

Which brings me to this story! Written for @ninjettetwitch​ for the UsaMamo Spring Exchange 2020 on Tumblr, I have written a light-hearted story that reflects what we're all adapting to. I really hope that you like it, ninjettetwitch!

A huge thank you to my beta, @aurorafiberarts​/Pia Bartolini for her letting me bounce ideas off of her and her super-fast turnaround on editing this. And also a shout-out of thanks to @uglygreenjacket​ for hosting this fun event. We all need a little bit of light in this darkness, and these gifts of stories and art have been wonderful.

Lip Gloss

He was mesmerized; unable to pull his gaze from her as she worked with meticulous accuracy, painting her face using the contents of her makeup box, leaned over the sink in his bathroom in an attempt to get closer to the mirror. She was currently using a black brush to make her already long lashes even longer and darker, and he used that time to rake his eyes down her body.

She wore a long white dress that hugged her body tightly before flowing freely to the ground. It was so reminiscent of the dress she’d worn in their previous life that he was immediately transported back to that time; meeting her in his mother’s rose garden, stolen kisses under the moonlight, dances in the grand ballrooms. 

“Don’t stare too hard, tiger,” she said without taking her eyes off the mirror, breaking him of his trance. He blink repeatedly, trying to reign in his boiling blood. “We have an important networking dinner to get to with your bosses. We can’t be late.” 

Mamoru couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped his throat. “Can’t be late? That coming from Tsukino Usagi? I never thought I’d see the day.”

She turned her head quickly with mock offense. “Hey! When it’s something important, and especially something important to you, I try really hard!”

He smiled warmly as he crossed his arms, leaning against the doorframe. “I know, Usako. I’m just teasing you.” 

She rolled her eyes dramatically and turned back to the mirror, muttering a “baka” under her breath, reminding him of the old days when they were constantly at each other’s throats. 

He watched, heart racing, as she pulled her lip gloss from her makeup box, carefully applying it to her pouty, kissable lips. He watched transfixed as she glided the brush full of pink gloss across her bottom lip, then trail it along the top.. He watched as she put the brush back away. And when she made a kissy face at the mirror, checking to make sure it was applied just perfectly, and it was, he couldn’t take it anymore. 

In one move, he ripped his suit jacket off, dropping on the floor in the hallway, and charged her. She turned in time to frown at him. “Mamo-chan--”

“We’ll be late,” he breathed before clasping her heart shaped face in his hands and crushing those freshly glossed lips to his own. She gasped as his hands moved to under her bottom and  he scooped her up, making his way back to their bedroom. 

So maybe she wasn’t always the one making them late.
