Monthly Update - August

July was a huge up and down for me across the board-- cliff notes version is I was brimming with inspiration, had a big sad, and then broke my toe while our appliances also decided to break. Anyway I'm bouncing back pretty well, toe aside, and maybe this will finally be the month Sheev let's me be on the computer for more than 10 minutes without trying to get into something.

I don't have too many goals for August. I'd like to finish up a diamond art kit I'm nearly done with and then start a new one with Dan since he's very curious about the hobby (CACKLE). I want to get better about promoting my online shops and work on a new big piece, but I also recognize that it might be better for me to use my new found energy on taking care of myself and the house. I'm definitely in a position where I feel like I can do things and it would be smarter if I applied that towards my checklist of healthcare needs foremost, but I guess we'll see where this month goes and if I break another toe (I've already stubbed my broken toe AGAIN and it's left me couch ridden for the day).

Every month I say I want to do more on Patreon and come up with these ideas, and every month I don't because Patreon is annoying to use on my phone, which is my primary interneting device at the moment due to Sheev. So I do really want to, but more often than not you'll see me doing all of the things I want to do here on BlueSky and my Discord instead. Orange Pearl Voice

My piece for Quick Change, a magical girl speed run zine (which you can download for free here!) We were required to use at least one color from a limited palette from a select list of magical girl series. I chose orange/yellow and Sara from Mermaid Melody. The original image is actually horizontal, but I think it previews better vertically!

I really enjoyed the color limitations, canvas size, and line work on this and I'd really like to do the same for other magical girls.

A little doodle I did back in June in procreate to try to get back into drawing. It worked! I'm hoping to clean this one up in CSP and use it for an upcoming draw this in your style on BlueSky for reaching several follower milestones I never celebrated like I was supposed too. oops

There is a super power quiz floating around BlueSky and another mutual and I decided to make sonas based on our results. My power is apparently Dream Sight lol. I actually love my girl a lot, I'm thinking about prepping her for art fight this year.

Monthly Update - July

Unsurprisingly, June was a lot like May for me drawing wise, but I did do quite a bit of crafting, baking, and I did do some drawing. I wanted to post some of them the day before, but Patreon kept erroring, so you might see some stuff I've drawn previously pop up this month instead. For July I've decided to participate in Art Fight, so I do expect I'll be drawing a lot more this month. I might do more of a weekly round up of Art Fight drawings here rather than individual posts, pending how much I actually draw.

The magical girl speed run I participated in is also releasing this month, so I'll be able to share that as well! I really like how it turned out as it was a limited color palette, so I focused on linework instead. I'd really like to do a few more in a similar style, which I think should translate well into bookmarks should any of you want to print out the high res files to do so.

Healthwise I'm back into PT for my shoulders, we'll see if I make any significant improvements. Sheev is sometimes allowing me to be at my computer undisturbed, and I really hope this continues to be a trend so I can get back to streaming and whatnot-- I feel like a broken record about this, but surely I'm bound to come back to streaming sometime this year maybe? sob

Short update this month, which I'm going to take as a good thing. Stay cool hydrated!

Mars and Venus pose ref practice

Since @sailorastera mentioned Reinako is one of her faves after the last post ref practice I did from her ref stock, I decided to draw something with her in mind. I have a few more ideas from other ref images she provided, more on that later.

I also tried to push myself in procreate a bit more. It's still a struggle for me, but I think I'm starting to be able to produce something closer to what I can normally draw in CSP.

I have some ideas for last two poses she provided, let's see if I get to them!

Another pose ref from @adorkastock! I wanted to challenge myself a bit more in procreate with more detailed characters and some kind of a background. I can see the improvement and hopefully it can still only go up from here.
