US politics ahead, skip this post if that's not your bag.

The different ways that different entities cover this year's presidential election is really interesting. I've been consuming news from different sources and I thought it would be fun to sum up what I'm seeing.

Independent Left-Leaning Media (e.g. Meidas Touch): every day a new YouTube video titled something like "Donald Trump FUCKS UP, Campaign SLIDES INTO THE OCEANIC ABYSS", and it's just that fucking guy having another glitch on stage or disrespecting soldiers or whatever.

Mixed in with this are legal analysis videos that make it clear America has nine kings on the Supreme Court, six of them are solidly in the tank for an orange fascist, and we've trusted the courts for far too long.

"Mainstream" Media (e.g. anything that's not Fox News, OANN, or Newsmax): Very Serious People doing Very Serious Interviews whose takeaways are things like "can Kamala Harris overcome the tremendous burden of being an intelligent woman trying to run a normal presidential campaign?" or "why, after we've repeatedly tried to set up a profit-driven media narrative about the election, aren't Democrats answering our bullshit questions?"

Right-wing Corporate Media (Fox, OANN, Newsmax): just a straight-up redistribution of Trump campaign talking points, plus fluffy interviews where either Trump or Vance still manage to go so far off the rails that you can see the interviewer start sweating. It's fascinating to watch what they will and won't cut away from, and whether what they cut away from is related to a lawsuit facing the network in question.

Right-wing Podcasters (e.g. Infowars): the ones who aren't actually in jail right now are bouncing between "when can we get another civil war already", "why are we letting THOSE PEOPLE vote again", and setting up their alibis for the seemingly inevitable MAGA loss and/or criminal case coming their way. The ones not screaming spittle at a mic are trying to be the new Jordan Peterson and lay an intellectual veneer over bigotry and fascism. It's like someone skinned WIlliam F. Buckley and is wearing his skin like a suit.

Left-wing Social Media: "we put our five rings of Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Being Judgmental together, why couldn't we summon Captain Perfect Flawless Candidate?"

Right-wing Social Media: "this shitty meme proves liberals are filthy pagan commie pedos. What do you mean, Trump was on Epstein's plane? That's inconvenient to my bigotry, so I'm choosing not to believe you."

If you are American, please check your voter registration and vote. Your vote matters.

Elected officials don't come out of the gate perfect and flawless. They're like sticks or stones that you find in your walks and have potential. It's on you and your activism to polish them, whittle them, and turn them into what you want. That takes time and effort, and success is not guaranteed. But that's how it is, electing a handful of people to represent millions. The alternative - someone getting into power who only cares about their own interests - is demonstrably worse.

Hunter Biden Witness's Lawyer Says Comer Lied About Client's Testimony

He demands that the transcript be released immediately.

The attorney for Kevin Morris, a witness in the Hunter Biden investigation, sent a scathing letter to House Oversight Chair James Comer demanding that he release a full transcript of his client's deposition immediately after he alleged that Comer mischaracterized the testimony to the public. 

Again.

The letter begins by noting that he expressed concerns before the deposition that Comer and Jim Jordan had cherry-picked and misrepresented testimony of other witnesses during their investigation without releasing transcripts, and that he was given assurances it would not happen with Morris. He said Comer double-crossed them on their agreement:

"Not two hours after we left ... you issued a press statement with cherry-picked, out of context, and totally misleading descriptions of what Mr. Morris said. So much for the promise of your staff that Morris would be treated fairly."

The letter went on to detail NINE specific examples of how Comer mischaracterized Morris's testimony.

This pattern of conduct has been well documented by Rep. Jamie Raskin, who has noted in the past that transcripts for only 2 of the 14 depositions taken during the investigation were released to the public. Hunter Biden's lawyer Abbe Lowell cited Comer and Jordan's lies about Hunter's business partner Devon Archer's closed-door testimony as a reason why he only wanted to testify in public.

In response to the letter, Oversight Committee spokesperson claimed that the reason why the transcript hasn't been released yet is because they haven't been able to get a court reporter to do it.
