That alternate ending for Breaking Bad that some folks seem to think was the inspiration for the Nandermo finale? Actually BB and WWDITS were both referencing the OG "it was all a dream" finale: Newhart. Respect. 👑

Regarding the What We Do In The Shadows finale...
If you only saw the Newhart version of the "perfect ending", there are two more alternate scenes available on Hulu. You have to watch them. THEY ARE SO GREAT!!!!

So, I got a few people I know into WWDITS (I jokingly call them "kids" because they're younger than me, but they all early 20s haha), and after the finale, we were talking about the alternate endings... and they did NOT get the Usual Subjects and Rosemary's Baby references. So I got to sound like an extra old person as I described these movies to them (but seriously, as I told them about it, suddenly a LOT of other similar references in other movies/shows made sense to them. one kid didn't believe me at first, but there's even a very brief "Keyser Soze" joke in the first Eddie Murphy Dr Dolittle movie! Anyway, it's fun being the person who connects all the dots for people~)
LOL that i am in a time in my life where i DO reflexively call ppl in their early 20s 'kids'...life is a magical ride fr!
sooo many kids shows/movies would make references that none of the children watching would get! i've never seen Newhart, but I immediately recognized the reference just because I'd seen it referenced so many times in other stuff lmao.
(also kinda unrelated but when the rosemary's baby bit first started, i immediately thought it was the exorcist and shouted 'she's gonna piss on the floor!!' to the whole group chat dkjfhdkf)

WWDITS ENDING
English is not my first language. Sorry for any mistake. It is a bit difficult translate my emotions… ( Hello from Italy)
My thoughts about WWDITS ENDING
It was perfect? Not really but I'm kinda happy with this "ending". I suppose. I'm still processing.
Nadja : This is not the end of anything. We will keep doing what we alway do. It's just these, um, camera microphone people will no longer be filming it.
This is meta and I like it. To us is an goodbye to them the characters we love, is not.
( This is comforting for me because I will miss everyone so much, especially Nadja) I admit that I was as sad as Gizmo in this episode.Nadja was so nice to try to cheer us up.
I see a lot of negativity here on Tumblr. ( I survived Game of Thrones season 8 and The umbrella Academy season 4, those are horrible endings not this one )
I think I'm one of the few satisfied people here... (but I admit that this season is not really among my favorites) Maybe because even if I love LADJA (since the beginning) and (just recently) NANDERMO I never watched the series only just for the couples. But for all the characters and their dynamics. (I loved Laszlo/Nandor and Nadja/Guillermo or Nandor/Nadja scenes)
I started watching WWDITS because I loved the original movie. The hook for me was Nadja. I fell in love with her at first and then after season one to all the others characters. ( Especially Laszlo)
WHAT WAS I HOPEFUL FOR? ( In Nadermo canon lol )
The thing that mattered most to me was that Guillermo didn't leave for good his "Vamily". And I think I'm happy with what I got.
In fact, I was already happy with the ending of episode ten.
( S6E10) Nandor: Face it, Guillermo. You're never gonna be just a normal human guy. You don't belong with them. You belong with us.
And about the topic that things never change...
Guillermo: So did the documentary ever come out?
Nandor: No. They filmed us for ten years, but then they decided that they didn't have enough good material.
Colin: Yeah, said it's just a bunch of boring people doing the same old shit day after day, nothing changes, no one ever grows, its' pointless, yada, yada.
The old TV crew says this about them, but we viewers know that things, although similar, have actually changed since then.
All the characters have changed in some way since the first season, they all changed thanks to Guillermo. They really love him.
The dynamics between Guillermo and the vampires is one of the main reasons why I love this series.
About NANDERMO
I was hoping for a hug or a (romantic) kiss, ( I'm delulu) but I like that in the end he and Nandor are finally friends. They have a more equal relationship. They don't have to work together, they can just be friends and hang out as such.
Guillermo and Nandor in the coffin together was a nice ending.
I can see why some people are upset but I knew It would be very strange if we got a proper romantic Nandermo canon kiss in front of cameras. lol
I think that eventually Nandor and Guillermo can develop a romantic relationship outside the cameras. (They leaved some hints about that) It's fine to me. The ending is open.
The FAKE ENDINGS I saw two of the three alternative endings. I first saw the "Newhart ending" with Nandermo. (Cute kiss but it was all fake T-T)
And in a reaction on YouTube I saw the "usual suspects" ending with the Guide and Colin (very funny!)
I don’t know where to watch the Nadja ending for free. Help plz

I watched the What We Do in the Shadows finale earlier. I've been a fan since day one so I'm sad to see a number of people on here are upset about how it ended. I think the past few seasons have tempered my expectations to the point where I was able to enjoy it for what it was: sort of an anti-finale that addresses the emotional whiplash of ending the show in the middle of a regular episode, with Guillermo acting as a stand-in for the viewer. It's just another day for the vampires, but this was six years of Guillermo's life and he has a hard time coping with moving on. They knew that they wouldn't be able to pull off a perfect ending that satisfies everyone so they tried to have fun with it, poking fun at series finale tropes.
That being said, I think a lot of people (myself included) got legitimately interested in where the characters were headed early on so I can understand why some feel ripped off that much was left unexplored or didn't amount to anything. As time went on I could definitely feel the show become less interested in what character development it had and lean more into "what funny scenario can we put each character in this season". Any major changes to the status quo will be reset by the next season. Characters are going to to be dumbed down. All very common pitfalls for a sitcom to fall into by very nature of being a comedy driven show.
It's because of this that I didn't expect Nandermo to become canon even despite the hints throughout the show that there might be something there. Maybe I should have expected more from a show where all the main characters are openly and casually queer, and it's possible that some of the writers pushed for it but it never came to fruition in the way that people were hoping for. Nandor falling in love with the Guide out of nowhere really cemented the ship being dead for me. If they ever meant to go in this direction I think having a Destiel confession tacked on at the very end would be a weird way to handle it. Still, I'm seeing people feel insulted by the way their relationship was handled in the finale and I'm not going to blame them for wanting a little more after seeing Guillermo come out of the closet and finally gain the respect of the one he admired the most.
I don't see the fantasy sequence where they're husbands as the writers' way of making fun of shippers for wanting that; keep in mind that it's a parody based on the Newhart finale and one of three alternate scenes filmed for the episode. But they still chose to acknowledge the ship and then play it as ambiguous which understandably rubbed folks the wrong way.
Is the message of the episode that despite everything that happened, nothing has truly changed? Maybe the contradiction of the vampires refusing to admit that they've changed was the intention? Or maybe it's just a reflection of the tone this season was going for even though it's kind of at odds with the rest of the show. Not sure about this one.
Anyway, I'll always love this silly show and especially the wonderful cast that brought it to life. It never took itself too seriously but it filled a specific campy horror comedy niche that I'm really gonna miss now that both Wellington Paranormal and this are over. I'm looking forward to eventually rewatching it so I can fall in love with it all over again :')

WWDITS spoilers incoming
Just because I keep seeing people say things that suggest they’re missing this: the alternate endings are Newhart, The Usual Suspects, and Rosemary’s Baby.
They’re not random they’re iconic endings 😆
Sorry for spoiling The Usual Suspects if you’ve never seen it, it’s one of the best twist endings but it’s been like 30 years at this point if you haven’t seen it by now you gotta accept being spoiled

full name: montana kıvanç keyder (pronounced kuh-vanch kai-dir). nicknames: tan. gender and pronouns: cis man, he / him. age: thirty. date of birth: may 17, 1990. hometown: pleasance, ohio. nationality: american. religion: muslim. sexual and romantic orientation: bisexual biromantic. occupation: author & stand up comedian. living arrangements: lives with his family and a boarder (PLS GIVE ME THE BOARDER) languages spoken: english, conversational turkish. strange history: the death ranch.
trigger warnings: assault, death, injury, pregnancy.
this is the clown montana, but u can just call him tan. he grew up in pleasance but moved to seattle around 10-ish years ago to study law ( but also bc he had a falling out with his ex-bestie @kincadedonnelly which just made the decision to study out of state so much easier ) and only just returned last december!
tan is the middle child of three. he has an older brother and a younger sister. their family used to own a mom and pop store that has since then been bought out by alby and turned into the pleasance general store under new management in 2000. his father had since turned to various enterprises to try and support the family which included carpentry and being a delivery truck driver. his mother, on the other hand, took to music tutoring on the weekends apart from being a high school teacher. needless to say, things had been pretty tough financially on the family since alby took their business away from them.
growing up, tan was p much....mediocre. which was never a dirty word for him, but it was to his parents. it was actually their dream for him to become a lawyer, which he wasn’t exactly opposed to, mostly because he didn’t really have anything else in mind.
he had enough in the way of friends, played sports, did ok in school. wasn’t super smart but also wasn’t at the bottom. he just coasted by and it was fine. he was fine. at least he was funny.
when he was 21, he was accepted into law school thru a scholarship at the university of washington. it was the first time he’d ever really gone out of state, let alone lived away from home on his own.
but seattle treated him well. it was there that he was able to explore more of who he was and what he wanted to be—and really wanted to be—which was, to no one’s surprise, not to become a lawyer, but a writer. a storyteller. but knowing that he couldn’t come home without a law degree, he sought to finish his four-year stay and make his parents proud all the while harboring words in his journal as a hobby.
he was out drinking with his friends when he got into a drunken fight with another patron for some dumb reason he couldn’t even remember anymore even if he tried. it really started early into the night but then hours later when the group was set to go home, they had run into the patron and his friends outside. tan couldn’t keep his blasted mouth shut and the long and short of it is that he’d ended up in the hospital with a dislocated jaw, a broken nose, and a lesion in his brain after he took a crowbar to the head. he was on his last semester of law school.
which, of course, put a damper on his parents’ plans of finally having a lawyer in the family. and it took a while, but throughout the frustration of relearning how to put a shirt on or the staring spells he would have in the living room or the fact that he started having atonic seizures that required a service dog in his aid, he decided to see the silver lining coming about a year into his recovery.
meds were expensive and therapy didn’t come cheap, so when he submitted a column narrating his experience from small-town mediocrity from a turkish-albanian background to big city law school dropout now with a disability card to a local publication, he’d only expected the cash it came with in exchange for his submission; he didn’t expect an email from a guy who, as it turned out, was a pretty big tv producer saying that he’d read his column and wanted to meet up to chat about an ‘opportunity’.
said opportunity turned out to be a job offer. or, well, a trial offer— he was currently producing the second season of a show on comedy central and wanted to invite him on as a writer’s assistant. with no employment opportunities on his immediate horizon ( with the alternative being to book a plane ticket back to ohio ), he knew he couldn’t say no.
the job was not glamorous and the salary was dismal, but it helped him remember how to become a person again, this time in an environment he actually enjoyed. no more case readings, no more depressing internship hunts with law firms who didn’t want him.
as he became more and more immersed into the culture of the show ( and other programs in the network ), he was eventually given his own episodes to write, all the while making his debut on stage as a stand up comic ( which was a difficult feat to even try and muster the courage to face an audience, let alone an audience in bars ). shortly after he’d made a relatively dignified name for himself, he started working on publishing his first book, which he liked to describe as ‘part-memoir, part-fiction, 100% mediocre’ entitled ‘Stop and Smell the...’ which chronicled his experience as a small-town midwestern boy who gre up in an immigrant household and was then living in a big city with a condition that could very well be attributed to his big mouth.
and he was, by no means, famous. maybe not even quasi-famous. but his new life had allowed him to support his family back home especially when his father had come down with a mysterious illness that prohibited him from continuing work. on top of that, his younger sister had gotten pregnant and was then forced to marry a businessman in cincinnati just so she could raise the child.
his father finally succumbed to his illness last december and it was only then that tan finally came home to deal with the funeral arrangements. he took a sabbatical from work, with every intention of his trip back to pleasance being temporary, but it’s months and he still hasn’t found it in him to leave pleasance again.
extras:
he has been living with his family again and has no plans of getting a place on his own since this is just ‘temporary’.
yes, he also brought his service dog, dakota ( and yes, he’s montana and she’s dakota and they’re just quirky like that 🤪 ) with him to pleasance and he takes her everywhere. since the move, dakota has enjoyed the bigger spaces that pleasance has to offer and you can find the pair most often at the park or playing catch on death ranch where the thrill of getting caught has never gotten old since he was seven.
he’s bisexual and he came out in 2013. he’s always sort of known that he’s not just attracted to girls since he was younger ( as evidenced by the will-they-won’t-they relationship he had with his ex-best friend kincade fuckin rippp ) but he’s never really been open about that part of himself until then.
a serial dater and a serial flirt. also soooo so so needy.
he’s a taurus sun with an aries moon so he’s equal parts ‘date me uwu’ and ‘fite me uwu’
like his fc bariş, tan sports a half-sleeve tattoo on his left arm: (body image tw) click here for reference !! also a smiley on his right thigh, his siblings’ initials on his right ankle, and a small ‘K’ on his left hip.
his comedy is very hasan minhaj meets bob newhart: all the ~~~~woke millennial goodness of hasan wrapped with bob newhart’s brand of deadpan delivery sprinkled with a little bit of john mulaney’s observational humor.

My optimistic delusion of choice: Folks are going into the anomaly. Eliza's hair is still dark because she's going to be flaunting some season 1 hair via wig. B/C get together "back in time" And they were together all along. Most of the show is a weird fever dream. Homage to those weird 80s show finales like Newhart. But with Bellarke.
god i hate dream endings, or alternate universe endings but if IT MEANS BELLAKRE BITCH ILL TAKE IT

70th Emmy Nomination Predictions
Last year, five new dramas broke into the race, and they’re looking to be as strong as they were last year. With former champ Game of Thrones returning to the race, though, people need to make some room. Should be interesting. On the comedy side, Veep, which has won the Best Comedy three years running, is off this year, including its leading lady Julia Louis Dreyfus who has won six times in a row, opening up the Comedy race. Looking forward to seeing some new faces over on that side. Here are my predictions for the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards!

Another Emmy nomination prediction list done! Gonna be Game of Thrones vs. The Handmaid’s Tale it seems, with THT getting more nominations than it did last year. Will be interesting to see which of the five new shows that arrived last year can maintain their momentum. Hoping for some new, new faces everywhere else!

I haven’t really made a post about my feelings on this season, other than i do like it and i do like the finale.
However, i do have a theory on this season that ive had for awhile but i felt like it was controversial to say.
I do think this season did feel slightly off but not in a bad way. Let me explain.
First, I want to say i like a lot of the ideas for this season.
I liked Guillermo “moving out” officially and “getting his own place.” I thought him living in the wank shed was funny and also getting a job in the human world was a good move. I hyperventilated when i saw he worked at Panera again.
I liked that the writers wrote in Natasia’s pregnancy with the Rosemary’s Baby bit. Nadja got to be around humans which i think she wanted to always do more of. She even became more sensitive to human issues even if she doesn’t experience those feelings exactly like humans herself.
I like when Laszlo invents and I’m glad he was able to do something that wasn’t really connected to the main plot. I like that seanie came back with Laszlo, although i missed seeing him in the finale (i did like the alt version with him.) I like the vampires getting their own side adventures and he got to do this with Colin, which was a plus. I like that we got some of his background with his dad.
I liked that Colin was feeling alone with the changing dynamics and how he came to get closer to the monster since both of them are different to the vampires.
I liked that they did bring up Nandor’s search for love again. I honestly never thought they would bring it up again. The batcave was fun and the janitor bit was funny. I liked Nandor’s army and I’m glad we could see his old warrior side again.
I like that Nandor and Guillermo reconnected and that Guillermo doesn’t leave forever. I always worried that would end the show with Guillermo saying goodbye to the vampires for good. I liked the fake-out ending where if someone wanted that ending, they got it. That was bittersweet enough for some people, and could have worked. But, i liked that he came back and that it showed us, the audience, that Guillermo is so aware of the cameras that he does hide things on camera. I like seeing Nandor and Guillermo’s first meeting.
I liked that the last scene was Nandor inviting Guillermo into his coffin and that the Newhart alternate ending is the one they use on streaming. I like that they were the married couple featured in it when it could have easily been any pairing on the show like Laszlo and Nadja or Charmaine and Seanie or even the monster and I don’t know…Jerry?? lol.
I did wish The Guide had more onscreen plot than Nandor’s kinda love interest and working with Jerry mostly offscreen, even though I’m glad they did show her love. I think i really missed her being involved in the main cast.
I would have loved if the gang had an arc together. I don’t believe the main A plot involved everyone until the end. There was a lot of side adventures (which is fun), which gets me to my theory…
I don’t think the show was supposed to end with season 6.
Yeah, I’m one of those that believes that the show was cancelled. I think they wrote season 6 with the intention to have a season 7.
I think Harvey and Kayvan’s interviews since the news broke convinced me. Especially Harvey being so heartbroken on Instagram and Kayvan mentioning a season 7 constantly. And now that they are both talking about a spin-off, it all makes sense.
I think this was just a normal season that they already wrote and when FX pulled the plug, the writers went back in and added a few things here and there.
So, yeah. Season 6 would have been their friendship era and then season 7 would’ve worked towards the romance era. Episode 10 does work as a season finale, but not a series finale.
The documentary crew ending the documentary IS SUCH A GOOD PLOT. I think it was funny that they just ended the documentary, but thought it would be funnier if they started that plot from the beginning of season 6. Imagine the vampires fighting over how to end the documentary.
Jerry could have been an episode later and he could have been killed off in the second to last episode.
I think the writers did write episode 11 as an add-on to finish the show, but it didn’t really connect with the rest of the season.
I don’t think the finale had a surprise twist at all. And this show is actually good at season finale twists. Guillermo is actually a vampire slayer?! Colin was dying and came back as a baby?! Guillermo turned into a vampire?!
Yeah, their arcs and twists are honestly really good and thought out.
But, i think whatever twist ending they had was written out. Which leads me to my old theory:
The Guillermo is an energy vampire theory.
I still actually believe this was true, or at least a version of it. Watching it with the lens of Guillermo becoming a/an (energy) vampire again makes sense as the surprise twist. Enough was laid out that it could have connected so easily.
But ending the show that way might not have worked well since i do think they needed a bit more time, and i think that’s why any vampire!Guillermo stuff was removed. Because they didn’t have time to finish it properly.
And it would have tied up Colin’s arc of loneliness. I didn’t mind him connecting with the monster (i liked it a lot actually!). It felt like they were gearing up for Colin and Guillermo to connect on some level, and connecting to Guillermo becoming an energy vampire would’ve worked pretty well. That would have connected those plots together.
I do believe they wanted to do more with Guillermo’s arc but starting too much would’ve made the season really really full.
Actually ending everyone’s arc probably would have done that, too. I want more energy vampire lore. I want more Nadja connecting to her roots. I want to know why The Guide is really magical and what’s her name??
I think they truly needed one or two more seasons for that to be honest.
Which leads me back to the Nandermo of it all, too.
I think season 6 was about Nandermo reconnection arc after season 5’s Nandermo breakup arc.
I think they wanted to have Nandor and Guillermo make up first and then work towards their romantic arc going forward.
And that makes sense to me. They spent the season making them equals. And that feels earned to me. They ended the season together as equals.
And by The Finale, it seems like the writers knew they couldn’t add enough to finish every arc. And I respect that tbh.
I would have wanted a little more time with Nandor and Guillermo reconnecting before they kissed.
I do think that was the reason for the Newhart ending. It was a fun little homage but it was a Nandermo nod without having to skip over the important romantic arc they didn’t have time for.
It left the series open enough that if they don’t do a spinoff, we can fill in the rest.
And that explains the Guillermo’s “secret affair” and “the secret Nandermo batcave” and Nandor caring about the cameras being gone.
However, I think they left it open so that if they had the chance, they could do a proper spin-off to work toward the Nandermo romance arc we deserve instead of closing that door forever.
TLDR: I like season 6, but i do think the show was cancelled by FX and that’s why it felt a little different. Hopefully we do get the Nandor and Guillermo spin-off and potentially another What We Do in the Shadows movie to wrap it up completely.
It doesn’t feel like the end, but a new beginning.

Okay, TV writers. I have a question for you:
Why do great shows always, always, ALWAYS attempt an existential episode or arc?
And a follow-up question: Why do they all suck?
You need examples? Here are just a few off the top of my head (I’m sure people will add more in the comments). Oh, and if it ain’t clear, SPOILERS AHEAD, though if you haven’t seen these episodes already, you need to catch up:
Magnum P.I. - Magnum in a coma spends the episode debating life with a ghost buddy, then walks off into the clouds.
The Sopranos - Tony also in a coma (common theme?) thinks he’s a guy named Kevin Finnerty (because Heavy Handed didn’t sound like a real name, I guess) who’s stuck at an airport hotel.
The Blacklist - Reddington spends the night in a creepy abandoned seaside hotel with what turns out to be a figment of his imagination.
St. Elsewhere - The entire series ends with a reveal that the characters are figuratively (or literally! WTF?) in a goddamn snow globe.
I should confess that the Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge-ending—when a wild story line ends with the reveal that it was all a dream—is, in my mind, the most pathetic, shitty cop-out for a writer. It requires no commitment, no skill, no artistry. Yes, I saw Jacob’s Ladder and yes, I felt the same way about that film.
As for a swerve into existentialism, a few shows did it successfully. Remember that episode of Family Ties where Alex was grappling with his friend’s death? The whole thing kinda took place in Alex’s head and was shot like an artful minimalist stage production. It worked. (I just Googled the episode and it looks like I’m in the minority of people who actually liked it, but this is my post so just go with it.)
Sitcoms tend to get a free pass. Remember when Dr. Huxtable argued with a Muppet? And shows like Community and 30 Rock kinda set up their own reality, so dips into alternate planes aren’t as jarring.
And I’ll admit, I still think Newhart’s series ending—that the whole series was a dream of the character from his previous series—was one of the most brilliant things in television history.
Plus, some shows can attempt existentialism because they work within a reality gray area. Think shows like Star Trek or Lost. When those characters find themselves on another plane of existence debating the meaning of life, it already makes sense because weird shit happens to them all the time.
But, when a show like the one-hour dramas listed above exist in a literal framework—meaning what we see happening to the characters actually happens to the characters—suddenly switching to a metaphorical framework always fails.
So I ask again, why do shows attempt it? Do the writers get bored? Do they want to test things out? Stretch their wings? Fill an episode order?
And here’s a wildcard observation: All of the failed existential arcs I listed deal with white male characters. Why is that?
Please reply on you preferred platform with #ComaShow, so I can find your answers.
