My First attempt at making figgy duff, a boiled pudding, from Newfoudland, based on  Spotted dick, British raisin pudding,  Clootie dumpling, Scottish Traditional Pudding, and the Western version,  Poutchine au sac, Métis bag pudding from Western Canada. Also: figgy pudding,christmas pudding...

Traditionally served with a jiggs dinner, ( boiled dinner or cooked dinner, is a traditional meal commonly prepared and eaten on Sundays in many regions around the Atlantic provinces)

I made a traditional rum butter sauce, for Christmas this year. It was amazing, and soooo good. I didnt have a pudding bag, so i used cheesecloth.  U can use cans with foil cover, or any cottony cloth, old sheets, pillowcases, would work.

Where are you from?

I was born in St. Johns Newfoudland in Canada and my Texan wife and I enjoy living and traveling in Canada and the US.

Describe your sound:

My sound is a multi genre sound....being a songwriter you have the liberty to write a lot of different genres however, i think most people say that i sound like Dylan, Tom Petty or Springsteen....

Who inspires you?

I think musically all the greats inspire me! Leonard Cohen, Lennon, Dylan, Springsteen, Petty...there are too many to mention!

Where do you see your career in 5 years?

Well with over 15 millions streams in my first two years of my career i suppose it would be great to just reach more people that like what i am doing!

Great Big Sea is a Newfoudland band whose style is difficult to pin down. Ever since their formation and the release of their first album in 1992, Great Big Sea has been as comfortable composing or covering rock or pop songs as they are with folk songs and sea shanties. This song has a Tennessee country feel to it, but it's a Great Big Sea original. The lyrics describe a shotgun wedding, with the proceedings narrated by the singer.

Update:

Currently just outside Gros Morne National Park for the night in a wonderful Victorian B&B. I've now seen the top of the bottom of the Earth (literally the part of the planet supposed to be underground but was scraped away by the Ice Age glaciers) and discovered that 2.5 kms uphill is a LONG way. More hiking fun tomorrow - checking out some sea caves (hopefully we've planned our hike at low tide...)
