Give us your best and worst feelings while experiencing being a game dev
okay!
some of the best feelings: working with my new teammate person (the one i mentioned was teaching me a while back! now we're a proper dev team!) and talking about and planning idaes with him
when something finally works
solving a probelm i couldnt figure out a few days ago
when its finally done
watching your characters come to life
COMMENTS HWEN SOMEONE COMMENTS :D ive only gotten one comment on my itch.io games so far but IT MADE ME SO HAPPY and i keep going back to look at it when i need motivation-
playing through with my friends over vc and us making up funny bits and doing voices while we're at it! We had one playthrough where the main character was named paperwork and all their diologue was just paperwork, by the time it was done i was struggling not to say paperwork in the middle of random conversations and frankly it was hilarious
when your friends like your game : ' )
that relatable feeling of playing a game or recalling an odd choice a game developer made in a game you loved once and being like oh I get it now. iiiiiget it now (*glances at pokemon in solemn understanding* i see why you didint do that now. I get it.
the loving feeling of you and your fellow programmer workign on a script and you putting your cursor next to theirs (it feels like a hug <3, its like, programmer cuddles, i am 99% that just an us thing) the utter TRIUMPH of getting something fully functional
when one of your friends decides to latch onto a specific character and loves them and its like YES PLEASE LOVE MY SON I WORKED HARD ON HIM HES A GIFT TO YOU YIPPIEEE
WHEN YOU TRY TO FIX A GLITCH AND THE GAME BOOTS UP PROPERLY AND NOTHINGS WRONG :D
the worst feelings:
when something you worked really hard on doesnt get much attention
when you cant solve a weirdly specific problem (*Shakes fist at color wheels*) and you know its objectively making your game MUCH worse and harder on the player, but you just cant find the information you need to solve it
when youve tried to fix the same bug 10 times and the error log isint changing
thinking you got all the bugs only to find out your newest update is a buggy disaster and one of your characters has decided to become a nudist and preform mitosis which was NOT your goal whatsoever because your naming conventions were flawed
when you have too many files and its just overwhelming-
messing up ONE letter or the indentation on something
problems that take 3 days or more to figure out solutions to
and as the artist and one of the two main programmers: character creation. i understand now why its not more common in video games. this is hard. I definitely intend to do it but golly
trying to balance stats and things
when the game crashes while youre bugfixing-
trying to figure out what strange seemingly alien language your fellow programmer is using to get amazing results because you have to understand how it works so you can actually use the amazing system they made but if you COULD understand it very easily already you would have made it yourself so youre just crawling through it trying to reverse engineer it so you can avoid breaking what they made and add onto it lol

Emma to Jem
Dear Jem,
As promised, the newest updates on the House That Wouldn’t Stop Being Cursed. Spoiler alert: I think we’re going to need your help again. (Ask Kit if you don’t know what a “spoiler” is.)
So here’s where we are: we’ve assembled all of the items—we think—that are tied to the curse. We placed them all in the dining room together and lit some candles, but nothing happened. Julian said it was like we were trying to get the objects to have a romantic evening together. I guess it was optimistic to think things would be that simple!
During the past few weeks we’ve collected a number of books on curse-breaking. And looked up some stuff about it on the Internet, though I have to say you never know with “online” whether you’re accessing a real magic spell or something tied to some kind of game. Julian, of course, had already read the books, and noted the similarities between most of the curse-breaking spells. They all require cursed objects to be brought together, and for candles made of pure tallow to be lit. Fortunately we were able to grab tallow candles at the Shadow Market, and we arranged them in a circle around the objects. When we lit them, it did look very mysterious and magicy.
We combined several of the Latin spells in the books to try to get something workable. A sort of We call out for the curse laid upon these objects to be broken, in the name of the Angel Raziel. We tried to make ourselves sound very important, like we knew Raziel well and would be having a pint down at the pub with him once the curse breaking was over.
Now, I’m sure you’re staring in horror that we decided to do this ourselves, and you’re right, we shouldn’t have, but we were just so excited to have all the objects that we thought it was worth at least a try. After all, how wrong could it go?
Answer: very wrong! A chill, clammy wind immediately rose up inside the dining room and swirled in circles, blowing out most of the candles. I started shivering, not because it was cold (although it was suddenly very cold) but because my skin was crawling. I had a terrible sense of encroaching darkness, like my vision was beginning to fade at the edges. Julian started paging through the books fast, looking for some kind of cancellation spell.
And then, of course, the music box on the sideboard began playing by itself. And not the tune it usually plays, which is a Strauss waltz. This was some other tune, something dissonant and harsh (as harsh as the tinkly sounds of a music box can be, I suppose). And it was loud, much louder than any music box could be, like the sound was being picked up and whirled around the room.
“Nooo.” It was a harshly breathed word, and I felt a presence sweep into the room. Rupert, half-transparent and looking furious. He swept a glowing hand through the candles, snuffing out the flames. Thank the Angel, the wind died down and the chill went out of the air. And I felt like I could breathe again. Julian and I stared at each other.
“Nephilim,” Rupert breathed. It was probably the most we’ve ever heard him say, in terms of real distinct words and phrases. I don’t know if it was because he was angry, or because the curse-breaking spell had had a tiny effect. “Nephilim — do not play with magic. Tatiana played with magic. She was . . . destroyed.” He was so upset that the features of his face seemed to be rearranging themselves, his eyes widening to be huge like an anime drawing. His mouth turned down at the sides. “Not worth destroying yourselves,” he whispered. “Find another way. Or leave me prisoned.”
And with that, he disappeared — kind of flew apart in white-silver pieces, like papers blowing on the wind.
A shudder went up my spine. Rupert. I think I liked him better when he could only move things around in the dust.
Anyway, we could use your help. Maybe it’s that we need a warlock to do the right magic, but the more we look at the items we’ve collected the more we wonder if one of them is wrong. We’ve followed some sketchy clues to find them, after all. And we’ve bothered Hypatia, Magnus, and Ragnor so much that I don’t think we could bear to have one of them come and then tell us it’s the objects that are the problem.
So…would you and Tessa be willing to come visit and check out the situation? Maybe you’ll be able to tell something about the objects since you recognized some of them. And between an ex-Silent Brother and a warlock I’m sure you’d bring enough magical wisdom to work out what we should be doing. We’d love to see all four of you, in fact, if you’d like to make it a family outing. We can watch Mina for you! There will be scones! And now that the faeries have gotten rid of all the hogweed choking the gardens, they’re looking very nice. Lovely for walks, or if Kit is in a teenage brooding mood, they’re great for brooding. Did I mention the scones?
Love,
Emma

Stormy Sleepover - Tom Hiddleston x Reader
I haven’t written in like, years. I previously wrote for Colby Brock at @colbybrocksmolder and someone asked me to write for Tom so I figured I’d give it a shot.
I hope you enjoy!
_________________________
“Did you hear there was a storm coming?” one of your PA’s, Andi, asked you. You were in charge of making sure the cast all had assistants and that their life on set ran smoothly. You’d been working with these guys since the very first Thor movie.
“I got a notification on my phone a few hours ago, but this building is so big I doubt we’d know if it had actually hit yet.” You pulled up your weather app and clicked on the “!” checking to see what the “alert” was. “Oh god” you said, shocked to read that most of the county was already out of power.
“I told you, call me Chris.” Behind you, Hemsworth was chuckling leaning over to read what you were looking at on your phone.
“Ha, ha.” You laughed at his cheesy joke. “But seriously, has anyone been outside in the last few hours?”
Looking at your phone, Hemsworth shrugged and headed towards one of the truck bays.
In front of you, you watched Evans and Tom training with each other. There were various scenes in this movie involving water and a big thing the trainers had been working with them on was safely landing in water. It sounds funny, but you can break bones or knock yourself unconscious if you land wrong.
“Bad news” Hemsworth yelled out, getting everyone’s attention. “This building has been running on generators. There’s no power in the whole lot.” He dramatically shook his arms, flinging rain water on you and Andi.
“No wonder this water has gotten so cold” Evans added, shivering. “It’s usually warmed, but It’s ice right now.”
You sent a text to the director who was in a meeting with the writers. You received a text back fairly quickly. “Let everyone know we’ve got 6 more rooms at the Hyatt Hotel a few towns over for those who don’t have trailers on the lot. Tell everyone else that it looks like the power won’t be fixed until tomorrow afternoon. There’s a whole line of downed power lines that they can’t get to until the storm stops. The generators only run lights and a few outlets and it looks like they’re going to die soon too. The 16 seater van is outside with a driver to take people to the hotel.”
“Looks like we’re done for the day.” You said mostly to yourself, with Hemsworth and Andi hearing you.
“Everybody in.” Hemsworth hollered out so you wouldn’t have to yell.
“Thanks.” You shot him a smile.
“Any time” he replied, flinging his long wet hair towards you.
“I take it back.” You laughed, moving to stand on your chair.
“I know that not everyone has a trailer in the lot yet as we haven’t actually started filming, so for anyone that doesn’t have a home here there’s a van outside that will take to you the hotel that has power nearby. It’s already super chilly in here, so I imagine it’s freezing outside.” You spoke so everyone could hear you.
“Can confirm.” Hemsworth said, starting to shiver a bit.
“There’s umbrellas near the catering tables and there’s a bunch of old hoodies and jackets in the extras costume bay. Make sure you’re warm and dry before you head to the van.”
Everyone that didn’t have a trailer on set left once they had their instructions.
“As for the rest of us, we have to hunker down in our trailers until this passes. I have solar power and full solar batteries on my trailer so all of you are more than welcome to come crash with me if your trailer is too cold or you need electricity for anything.”
You, Hemsworth, Evans, Tom, and Scarlett were the only ones on set that had trailers so far.
“It can’t be THAT cold” Evans joked, grabbing his bag and heading towards the door.
“Scarlett went to her trailer a few hours ago” Tom shared. “I only got here last night so I don’t even have my trailer set up. Are you sure you’re okay if I go grab my bag and come steal some of your space?”
“Absolutely” you smiled at him. “And if I know Scarlett, she’s already in my trailer. I don’t think her trailer was even hooked up to power yet. Her’s was the newest one on the lot.”
“Thank you, darling. I’ll go grab my bag and check Scarlett’s trailer on my way to yours.” Tom replied and then jogged towards the door.
Andi left to catch the van once you passed your notes from the day on to her. “Be safe. Don’t worry about making it back tomorrow. I will email you any further updates I have for assignments.”
“I’m going to head back to my trailer and see if I have any cell services.” Hemsworth shared after everyone else had started leaving. “I know my wife probably has all of the weather and accident alerts on for the whole county and she’s probably worried.”
“Be safe.” You said, taking his offered hand so you could step off of your chair safely. “I’ll grab the satellite phone in the emergency kit and take it to my trailer just in case we need it.”
“It looks like you may have a full house tonight.” Hemsworth Joked.
“You’re welcome to join the insanity.” You teased, throwing your hoodie on and grabbing the satellite phone.
When you made it to your trailer, you were pretty soaked. Even with the umbrella, the rain was insane.
“Thank God you didn’t leave.” Scarlett startled you.
“I knew you’d already be in here.” You laughed. “Tom is on his way. His trailer is like yours. We didn’t even get a chance to get them hooked up before this crazy storm hit.”
“Oooo Lover boy is coming.” She teased.
“Oh, shut it. We’re friends, Scar. That’s it. We’ve never been more than friends.” You started stripping out of your wet clothes and slipped on a pair of soft black sweatpants and your favorite hoodie. It was dark green with “Mischief” written across the front. There were gold horns painted on the hood.
“I’ve known your friend almost as long as you have and the way he looks at you…I’m just saying. I think there’s something there.” She teased, gathering your wet clothes and putting them in a laundry bin that was tucked under one of the beds.
You both turned to the door hearing what sounded like a woman screaming bloody murder. “Let me in” Evans yelled, banging on the door.
Scarlett opened the door while you grabbed a towel. She laughed at him, seeing him drenched head to toe. “It was unlocked, tough guy.”
“You hit an octave I don’t think I can even reach, Cap” you teased, throwing him the towel and going back into your PJ drawer for an oversized t shirt and a baggy pair of sweats.
“I was wrong. I was so wrong. It’s fucking freezing in my trailer and I didn’t realize that the water would be cold because the power has been out for so long.” Evan’s teeth were chattering as he stripped out of his clothes, trying to dry off.
“I think I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve seen you naked, Evans.” Scarlett laughed, handing him the clothes you picked out for him.
“Thank god you aren’t seeing the front. It’s so cold I think my manhood has retreated fully into my body” Evans replied, throwing the clothes on and drying his hair with the towel.
Both of you laughed. You started brewing a pot of coffee and turned your water kettle on for tea. “Well, Scarlett already claimed the couch.” You mentioned. “Why don’t you take the regular bed so that if Hemsworth joins, you two can bunk together. It’s queen size so it should fit you both comfortably.”
Evans crawled into bed, wrapping himself in the blankets and trying to warm up. “Where will you sleep?”
“The dining room table and benches turn into a bed.” You replied. “It’s a full size, so almost as big as the one you’re in.”
“Did you hear that?” Evans perked up, trying to look out the tiny window he could still see through from the bed.
You and Scarlett quieted down. Getting louder you could hear Hemsworth yelling “NO, I AM THE GOD OF THUNDER!” every time lighting would strike and the sky would boom.
“Looks like it’s going to be a full house tonight.” Scarlett laughed, opening the door. “Get your godly ass in here, you crazy Australian.”
“He’s clearly the superior Chris” Evans joked. “Are you fucking crazy?” he asked as Hemsworth stepped into the trailer.
“Possibly. Probably.” Hemsworth laughed, trying not to get water all over the floor.
Scarlett grabbed the towel Evans had used to dry off and put it down on the floor by the door. “Here you go.”
“Much appreciated.” Hemsworth replied, dropping his duffle bag. “Can I change in your bathroom?”
“It’s all yours” you said. “Do you need clothes or did you bring some dry ones?”
“I brought some. I also brought some fun. I’ll show you after I get out of my sopping clothes.” He answered, leaving his shoes by the door and stepping into the bathroom.
When the bathroom door clicked, you heard a knock on the door. “Tom, come in” you hollered.
Tom was wearing a long poncho with an umbrella. He had a large bag with him and when he got inside he kicked his shoes off, putting them by Hemsworth’s shoes. You grabbed his bag from him, putting it by the second bed you had just finished setting up. He closed the umbrella and pulled his poncho off, his black sweatpants and black hoodie bone dry.
“You make the other two look like heathens.” Scarlett laughed. “They showed up soaking wet and screaming.”
“He is a gentleman.” You gave him a smirk, causing his cheeks to blush ever so slightly.
“Is there even room for all 5 of us?” he cleared his throat and laughed.
“Absolutely” you ushered him towards you. “Evans and Hemsworth are sharing that bed. Scarlett has the couch. I just set up the extra bed right here, for you.”
“For us” he replied with a stern look. “I know you too well, darling” he smirked. “You’re going to offer to sleep on the floor by the couch and I won’t have any of it.”
“Tom, it’s fine. I have a sleeping bag and…” You tried to ensure him you’d be okay, but he interrupted you.
“If you try to sleep on this floor I will walk back to my freezing trailer so you can have the bed to yourself.” The stern look softened as he pulled you into a tight hug. “You know you don’t always have to be the one to make the sacrifice. Plus, I promise I don’t talk in my sleep or have crazy dreams. I’ve even been told I’m quite comfy to cuddle with.” He dropped his eyes to yours, smirking.
“Oh, if I must.” You teased him, kissing his cheek as Hemsworth finally came out of the bathroom. “Scarlett knows where the laundry bin is.” You pointed him towards the hamper full of wet clothes.
“Do I smell coffee?” Evans sat up in bed, looking towards you. “Come cuddle, buddy” he laughed opening his arms for Hemsworth who let all of his body weight drop on Evans. “Jesus Christ, you’re a brick.”
You laughed, pulling down mugs from the cabinets and making everyone coffee. “Coffee or Tea, Tom?” you looked over at him. He was sitting on the edge of the bed you two would share.
“Tea, my sweet. But let me help you.” He stood and started grabbing sugars for everyone’s coffee, asking how many they normally added.
“There’s pasta in the crock-pot as well if anyone is hungry.” You announced.
“Food?” Hemsworth’s head shot up and he crawled off of Evans.
“God, men are so simple.” Scarlett laughed, grabbing the coffee you handed her.
“You are not wrong.” Evans added, asking if he could help with anything now that he wasn’t freezing to death.
“I think we’re good.” You replied, dishing up some pasta for Hemsworth and Evans and passing them off to the boys. “Scarlett?” you offered her food, as well.
“Actually, I’m craving something sweet.” She answered.
“I’ve prepared for this one” Tom answered, going to the large bag he brought with him. “It took me so long to get here because I walked to the catering room to grab some snacks. I’ve got a whole tub of cookie dough that probably needs to go in the refrigerator soon, a tub of sour sweets, and what looks like a large cherry pie.”
“Pass the cookie dough this way” Scarlett answered. “This man has his priorities straight”, she laughed.
After everyone had sat back on their beds, dug into their food, and warmed up with their coffee or tea, Hemsworth remembered his bag. “Since we are most likely going to be stuck in this trailer until tomorrow afternoon, I brought a different kind of treat.” He picked up his bag and started pulling out bottles of alcohol and putting them on the counter. “Anyone opposed?” he asked.
“What a G!” Evans laughed, crawling out of the bed to help Hemsworth make drinks. “What kind of mixers do you have, Y/n?”
“There’s some cans of soda, some energy drinks…there’s some juice…and then we’ve got coffee for that Bailey’s I see” you answered.
Tom was smirking next to you as the Chrises started making a make-shift bar out of what they had available to them.
“We’ve got to get this started with a bang” Hemsworth said, handing everyone two shots each. “The first one is to us having a great night reunited with our make-shift family.” He smiled at everyone and downed the first shot, everyone else following suit.
Evans spoke up after. “The second one goes to our incredible, gracious, and always prepared host. To Y/n!” He downed the second shot, everyone following his lead. Except for Tom.
You shivered as the second shot went down your throat and looked over at Tom who was still holding his full shot glass, sitting next to you on the bed. He had a small smile, giving you a look you couldn’t place. Quietly he spoke to you “I’d like to add a few things to his toast, but I think it may take a few more drinks to find the right words.” He downed the shot and took a sip of his tea to wash it down.
“Who wants what?” Evans asked, making everyone a strong drink.
For the first few drinks, everyone just talked and caught up. It had been a while since the group had been on a press run or a film set together.
“Y/n!” Evans spoke up.
“Yes, Cap?” you answered, starting to feel the alcohol course through you.
“Truth or Dare?” He smirked. His eyebrow raised like he was challenging you.
“Truth.” You answered, staring him down.
“Hmmm…Have you dated anyone working on any of these movies? Cast or crew?” He asked, finishing off his drink and standing to make another.
“I haven’t” you answered truthfully.
“Wait, let’s not do truth or dare, lets do truth or shot.” Scarlett suggested, wanting to get a few answers out of you and Tom.
“I like it.” Evans said, grabbing everyone’s shot glasses back and filling them so he could hand them out as needed.
“I answered, so I’m in the clear. Hemsworth has a higher alcohol tolerance than we do so I need him to catch up. Who is an actor in the MCU you hope you never have to work with again?” You asked, hearing Tom chuckle next to you.
“I can’t answer that!” he laughed, taking the shot Evans handed him.
“That’s the point.” You laughed.
He laughed, handing the empty shot glass back to Evans. “Fine, fine. Tom. In our last interview panel together, they kept asking you if you were seeing someone and you answered no. You then said that you were interested in someone, but that you hadn’t done anything about it. Who is she?”
“Oh no.” Tom laughed, feeling the alcohol a bit himself. “I think I need to take a shot. Are all of these going to be so hard?” He grabbed the shot that Evans passed off to him.
“I think you guys just need to not be pussies and answer the damn questions” Scarlett laughed, shooting you a look.
“Right?” Evans laughed, taking the empty shot glass from Tom.
Tom scooted a bit closer to you when he handed off his shot glass. “Okay, Evans. If you had to marry one of your on screen romantic co-stars, who would it be?”
“Oh, come on! It’s gotta be Scar Jo! The one and only.” Evans laughed, putting his hands over his heart and giving Scarlett a loving look. “We’ve been in movies together damn near my whole career.”
“We would annoy the hell out of each other.” Scarlett laughed.
“It’s true. We’re practically siblings. Okay, Y/n” Evans rubbed his hands together like he was plotting. “Favorite actor you’ve been able to work with ever.”
“Why do I feel like there’s a very specific question you want to ask, but instead you’re asking questions trying to fluster me?” you shot him a look, trying not to blush.
“Hey, I’m just playing the game.” Evans laughed, picking up a shot to let me know I didn’t have to answer.
“Keep your shot. I’ll answer this one. It’s definitely Mr. Mischief himself over here.” You pointed your thumb to your side at Tom, trying not to blush.
“No, there has to be someone cooler than me.” Tom blushed, hiding his glee by taking a sip of his tea.
You looked at him, summoning the strength of the drinks you’ve been throwing back. “You should give yourself more credit. You’re amazing.”
You stayed in the moment for a few seconds, just smiling at each other. “I think it’s your turn”, Tom said, putting his arm around your shoulders.
You blushed, realizing you had just been staring at him. Leaning into his side, you asked “Okay, Evans. Have you slept with any of your MCU co-stars?”
“Oh shit!” Scarlett laughed, standing up and handing Evans one of the shots.
“Yeah, yeah.” He laughed, downing the shot. “I’ll pick on someone else this time.” He filled up everyone’s drinks while thinking of his next question. “Okay, Scar. Who is the most attractive man in the current MCU?”
“Oooh, good question.” Scarlett thought about it, going through the movies outside of the Avengers. “I have a few different answers.”
“Explain.” Hemsworth replied.
“Well, There are a few people I find attractive for different reasons, I guess.” She answered.
“How about you share this list and we decide if you still need to drink for not picking one person?” You laughed.
“Well, Hemsworth is an amazing dad. Like, you look your happiest when you’re in the messiest, most chaotic situations with your kids. Most dads are the opposite. They’re trying to escape that.” Scarlett explained her first answer.
“Valid points made so far” Evans agreed, leaning against the counter.
“Hiddleston is the fucking epitome of a gentleman. You’re literally everything women want.” Scarlett turned towards tom, making him blush.
You quietly spoke “She’s not wrong” in Tom’s ear, feeling him pull you tighter to his side in response.
“You’re too kind”, Tom answered to her, downing the rest of his drink.
Scarlett looked to Evans. “I think I have to go with…Idris Elba.”
“I want to be mad that I didn’t make your list, but that man is truly a god.” Evans responded.
The game started to wind down as it got later into the night. Seeing everyone kind of calm down and get settled, you walked around making sure everyone had what they needed.
“Anyone want water so you don’t wake up hungover?” you laughed, pulling some water out of the fridge.
“Here!” “Please!” you handed water bottles out to everyone.
“I’m not setting an alarm for the morning. It’s super late and I doubt anyone is going to be back on the lot before dinner time anyways.” You said, grabbing you and Tom each a water bottle before turning off the main light.
You turned on the small light above your bed so you could sort out your sleeping arrangements. You grabbed your toiletries bag and pulled out a make-up wipe, trying to clean your face since you didn’t really get to do your nightly routine.
“Can I use one of those?” Tom asked, realizing he hadn’t been able to wash his face either.
“Come here” you said, scooting against Tom so you could run the damp cloth over his face. He watched your gentle movements, feeling you run the cool cloth across his skin.
“Thank you” he said, kissing the back of your hand before scooting back in the bed and laying down.
You put your bag back and drank some of your water before crawling fully into the bed and turning off the light. “Are you good?” you asked, turning to face Tom in the dark. You could feel his hand reach out and settle on your arm.
“I am” he answered, running his hand down your arm, to rest on your hip. “I want to finish your toast” he whispered, scooting his pillow closer to yours. “What Evans said was true, but you’re so much more, y/n. You’re beautiful and incredibly intelligent and there is not a single person I look forward to seeing more than you.”
“I think you’re drunk” you replied, knowing that if the light was on your face would be bright red.
“I am” Tom chuckled. “I still stand by what I said.”
You reached forward and ran your hand up Tom’s chest until you felt your fingers graze the side of his face. “I’m going to have to thank Hemsworth for getting you tipsy” you laughed, teasing Tom. You scooted closer to him, feeling him wrap his arm around your back and hold you against him.
“I couldn’t have waited much longer to tell you anyways” Tom replied. “I was just nervous you didn’t feel the same. We’ve been such good friends for so long…”
You interrupted him, capturing his lips in a kiss. “I’ve wanted to do that for years” you said, connecting your lips in a second kiss.
“Oh, thank god.” Tom said, a little louder than intended. “Can I call you mine?”
You laughed, trying to stay quiet. “Please, do.” You answered reconnecting your lips.
Tom rolled to hover over you, deepening the kiss.
“Fucking finally!” you heard Scarlett call out, making Tom collapse on top of you in laughter.
“Right?” Evans added. “It’s been ages.”
“Fair warning, I am telling this story at your wedding” Hemsworth said.
“I think our friends are happy for us” Tom said in a much quieter voice, flipping the two of you so that you were laying against his chest.
“I mean, I’m pretty happy for us” you replied, snuggling into his warm chest.
“Me too, love. Get some sleep” he said, running his hand up and down your back as he felt your breaths even out.

The Glitch: Chapter One
Synopsis;
Wanda certainly had attracted the newest Avenger. Y/N’s usual overconfident façade seems to easily drop when around the Sokovian witch.
(A/N: Your powers are kinda like Fives’ from TUA but it acts a lot quicker and it has the visual of an actual glitch. Kinda like Penelope Von Sweets in Wreck-It Ralph.)
_______________
Warnings: Language. Violence. That’s pretty much it for this chapter.
Words: 1,022
Pairings: Avengers x reader, Wanda Maximoff x reader (later chapters)
CHAPTER 2 >
____________
Y/N never thought she would be in an elevator, on her way to officially join the Avengers. It all came about when a bank robbery took place as she was waiting to transfer money into an account. Just your average trip to the bank, right?
--- flashback ---
She had just gotten to the front of her line and about to start her transaction with an employee when the group of men stormed into the bank with an array of firearms.
‘You gotta be fucking kidding me!’ She thought as she huffed out a breath of annoyance.
As everyone scrambled to lie on the floor as instructed by the men, Y/N proceeded to to pull the hood of her jacket up and shove her hands into her pocket, back facing the criminals.
“I said get on the ground, you dumb bitch!” She could hear the irritation and lack of patience within his voice. She rolled her eyes before dignifying the asshat with a response.
“Why don’t you fuck off so I can finally speak to my financial adviser, nob gobbler.”
At that point, the men had become miffed beyond belief. The man closest to her stomped his way over, ready to sweep her legs from underneath her and pin her to the floor. But before he could advance on her position further, she had, what could best be described as ‘glitched’, away before him, shocking and frightening the people surrounding her.
Before they could comprehend what had just happened, she let out a whistle, notifying the men of her new position.
She had placed herself upon one of the desks, sat with her legs crossed over one another, wiggling her fingers in a mock wave. A simple, little smirk strewn across her soft features.
As soon as the men began to raise their guns, she had glitched again, only too reappear, just as quickly as she had disappeared, behind one of said criminals.
She kicked his legs out before knocking him out with a quick, sharp punch to his temple. Y/N after, glitched away to a new position within the building hastily, continuing to confuse her self-appointed foes.
Her second target had speedily turned and raised his weapon, only to realise she had switched out his weapon. “Woah. cool mug man!” She proceeds to flip the pistol she had swapped out in her hand as she glitched to stand behind him, landing a unmerciful ‘WHACK!’ to the back of his head, unsympathetically smacking him with the butt of the gun.
She continued to swiftly take out the armed men, leaving her with her final opponent and too many one-liners she never got the chance to use. She flashed him a sinister smirk, showing the man no mercy. “You wanna do this the easy way or my way, hun?”
His eyes flitted across the room, noting his fallen compadres' and the hostages who watch the young girl in awe.
He threw his weapon on to the floor and raised his arms to convey his surrender. “Good choice,” she quipped before she delivered a round house kick to the jaw, instantaneously knocking him out .
As the last bank infiltrator fell to the floor with a harsh thud, the hostages ran towards the buildings main entrance without delay .
Once the bank was void of civilians, Y/N quickly glitched outside to an alleyway a few buildings away. She had quickly rid herself of her hood and peered around the corner in the direction of the bank, closely watching the scene before her.
In the corner of her eye, she spotted a certain wall crawler sporting iconic red and blue spandex crawl his way out through one of the side windows on the bank and make his way up towards the roof.
‘Must’ve realised it’s been dealt with.’ She shrugged her shoulders ever so slightly before heading back further into the alleyway before glitching back to her apartment.
Meanwhile, as she made a clean break for her home, the spiderling had a million questions whirling through his head.
The main thing being, ‘Who was that?’
--- end of flashback ---
_______________
“Do you have any questions before we step out of the elevator?” Fury asked the newest recruit to join the team.
“Yeah. Will there be snacks?”
“Is that really the question you want to be asking right now?” His voice rises in pitch, expressing his disbelief and quite possibly, amusement, at her inquiry.
“Yes.” Her face stoic, void of any humour at the situation. “You interrupted my lunch.”
Fury returned his gaze forward towards the elevator door, observing her through her reflection in the metallic surface. He noticed the girl tends to fidget quite a bit, making sure to make further observations of her behaviour in the coming weeks.
A small silence resurfaces as they pass more floors before the inevitable opening of said elevator doors slide open, revealing a large living space with a crowd of people.
‘HOLY SHIT. HOLY SHIT. HOLY SHIT.’
Y/N’s mind whirls a hundred miles a minute as she and ‘patches’, her nickname for Fury, advance towards the lounging Avengers. Fury claps his hands together loudly, the sound cutting through the air and drawing the attention of Earths mightiest heroes towards the pair.
“Who the hell is that?” Tony is the first to speak as he motions towards the female at the S.H.E.I.L.D directors left. Everyone looks Y/N up and down with narrow eyes, except for one. A teenaged boy. A kid.
“Surely you can show some respect towards the newest Avenger, Stark.”
Everyone’s eyes widen in most notably shock and surprise. Again, all except for one set of deep brown eyes, a knowing gaze paired along with a sweet and welcoming yet almost excited smile.
“Hey. I’m Y/N and I guess I’m your teammate.” She raises her pointer and middle finger up towards her forehead, giving them a faux salute, all the while smiling at the team cheekily.
The Avengers shared quick glances with each other, all wondering what is now in store for them with a new addition to the team.
“Soooooo, got any snacks?”

So, I guess I’m writing a Marvel series rn. That’s cool.
My updates may be slow with chapters for this series as I want to keep alternating between my fandoms and stories.
I don’t want to focus my all on to just this one project, if that makes sense.
Either way, I hope you enjoy. Please like if you do so I know to continue this.
As always, constructive criticism and requests are welcomed.
And finally, who would you like to see as the main love interest of this story??

Hello! It’s already May... Life updates - a roller coaster of emotions
A tempestuous, tearful April... Aghh the struggle has not eased up a bit. Living is just too expensive to be shouldered by part-time wages, meager freelance, and fickle confidence. My parents are disappointed - I’ve always tried to dodge the questions about my uncertain future. After all, I don’t have any answers.
What nearly broke my spirit was the humiliating scolding I received on my birthday. “You’re almost 30. Stop playing around at the cafe, don’t you know your bank account is nearly empty? How will you pay for this? If you can’t afford car insurance then just bike to work!” I didn’t even have time to think about how inconsiderate that was. In a daze, I hung up and went to my second part-time job that day.
Well, Dad, those are the questions I asked myself every single day. All I can do is keep trying even if you don’t believe in me. Because, despite everything, I still believe in myself.
Nothing good will come out of asking these punishing questions. I don’t know if things will get better or worse. Just gotta do what I can to get by as a small creature existing in this universe.
I learned to stop blaming myself for not being successful. Given the circumstances, I think the odds are stacked pretty high against most of us right now.
“Banish the nonsense. Some questions will ruin you if you are denied the answer long enough.” - Annihilation
--
I’ve begun my investment journey! After studying how it all works I have come to understand the value of investing. It was one of my resolutions for this year and I’m glad I’ve achieved it.
My brother, a crypto enthusiast, knows my monetary plight and has been helping me out in the weirdest ways.
6 am text: “Hey Sis, you got $1000? Put it into Dogecoin... like NOW.”
I don’t like doing these kinds of high-risk-high-reward investments but what the heck, I was desperate. I applied for an account that can trade crypto.
In the end my account got rejected (there was no explanation) and I gave up. Because of course that would happen lol.
--
“Hey, do you have time to talk about the future?” “UM... are we breaking up???” “LOL don’t say it like that!”
My roommate / best friend decided she wanted to move to her own place and find her own way in life. Of course, my fragile heart, still tender from the previous month’s beating, took it very personally. I was reassured it wasn’t my fault - there are plenty of other valid reasons why.
We’ve been sharing an apartment for 6 years now, and although I knew it would happen someday, it was quite shocking to hear it being said to me in reality. At first, I laughed it off because I’ve been dreaming about moving out of the country anyway and it all works out. I’m an introverted, neat-freak, homebody! It’s perfect! But after a very pensive shower, I realized that I’m actually terrified to be without any companionship. Either way, I have to put my feelings aside because I don’t wanna hold her back from her dreams. I may have trouble accepting it now but hopefully I can genuinely be happy for her in time.
--
The Plant Life Please welcome Rokurou, the newest addition to my jungle.
It’s been a few weeks and he totally ate bugs already lol. Nice! I was thinking the smaller traps wouldn’t catch anything, but it turns out they’ve been doing the most work. The larger traps can’t catch ants or tiny gnats. They just crawl out after the trap snaps shut.
This venus fly trap is rather picky about what water he gets so I’ve been out there collecting rainwater in buckets JUST for him! Kind of a pain, but I will do whatever it takes to keep him alive.
It was a very tiny dream of mine to collect and care for carnivorous plants. If the shop had more varieties, I would probably buy them all.
--
I thought I was gonna die... Hostess for a day. One day while working at the cafe, this old Chinese man came in asking how much I made here. Then he told me if I work as a hostess/front desk person at his restaurant (which was next to the cafe, by the way), he will pay me more than the cafe. He slipped me $5 to go see him after my shift at 9pm. It was soooooo sketch. But I went anyway to at least hear him out after telling my roommate and my parents where I was going. You know... in case I die.
Luckily I didn’t die. It was a normal Chinese restaurant. I met the staff and they were all super cool and the mysterious old man goes by Mr. Lin.
Mr. Lin was very chill about it. He said I can have a trial run after my bakery shift on Saturday. If I don’t like it, I can just tell him no and he will pay me for my time.
I knew it was a bad idea to take another shift after a long shift at the cafe but I did it anyway. It was BUSY. Too busy for anyone to teach me how to be a hostess so I literally just had to guess what I’m supposed to be doing. It was kinda obvious though, showing people to their tables. I picked them at random bc I didn’t know if there was a method to seating people or not.
There are three different menus: Chinese, Korean and English and they’re ALL different. Depending on the nationality of who walks in, I have to decide for myself which menu to hand out. Uhhhhh despite being Asian myself, I cannot tell the difference between Korean and Chinese people lmao so I have to keep awkwardly asking people which menu they want. *screams*
The manager, Vincent, is so OP though. He knows exactly which menu to get every time. I was like HOW DO YOU KNOW?? He only responded with “working in the business for 24 years.”
Anyway, it was a long and confusing night of people thinking I am a waitress and me not knowing where the spoons are. But I don’t think this job is for me, even if it pays a lot.
There sure is plenty of demand for part-time food service workers and zero demand for full-time graphic designers... sigh. My journey doing random jobs in 2021 continues.
--
My brother graduated pharmacy school last week. In our culture, the older sibling’s shoulders is where all the expectations should rest. Maybe in another AU I would feel small and inferior to my younger and more successful sibling. But I don’t feel anything like that. In fact, if he can take care of my parents while I’m trying to figure out my own life, then I’m just more grateful to him. Maybe my parents don’t expect anything of me anymore, which is okay. Either way, my brother and I have each other’s backs.
--
Berseria I went into it with ZERO expectations because of its infamous predecessor, but I have come out pleasantly surprised. I liked it more than I thought. I’m at the end but I’m not done with the story yet.
I remember expressing my utter confusion about Zesty and everyone was like “play Berseria, it will answer a majority of your questions.” And boy, it did and I’m so glad. I loved all the throwbacks and references and lore that had to do with the previous game. Like, they really had something interesting going on here but it never quite came to fruition last time.
Is it just me, or did it take a very long time to understand all the battle mechanics? Like... I didn’t get the hang of the game until we got to Meirchio. Now I am quite good at playing Rokurou, my main. And it feels way more fun. I usually like mage characters in the old tales games but tbh I wasn’t really into it this time.
After we finish Bersy, we will be moving on to Xillia 2, our final Tales game! Gaius, I’m coming for you.
--
Xenoblade At the same time, I am also finishing up Xenoblade after spending nearly a year on it. I have weeks where I’m just grinding the side quests to unlock the skill trees. When I’m down, traveling and exploring in this game puts my worries to rest. Really though, the maps are so beautiful... And the music! T_T
This is one of the few games where I like every character pretty much equally, though Dundun and Riki win by just a little bit.
--
That’s it for now. Thanks for being here!

Got the newest tumblr update, can’t figure out how to do a readmore so enjoy some toppy Lena!
Lena realized in the middle of fucking Kara’s asshole that Jess did not get paid nearly enough. Sure, she was the top earning assistant on the west coast without any actual strings attached but there was no way possible she couldn’t hear Kara whining against the sink, audibly panting against the mirror. The sounds they made - glorious, alive, visceral - echoed through the little office bathroom. Lena was glad she’d gotten it installed.
—————————————more———————————
This couldn’t be happening, she thought, still just that little bit in shock. Six months in and she still thought she’d wake from a dream.
But it was real. Kara was hot under her, all corded muscle and sweaty, that natural olive tone turned red as she endured Lena’s thrusts. She made soft little whines, hitched breaths, even when Lena went still inside of her, “Lee-nah, Lee-nah.” Her tan corduroys were tangled around her best oxfords, her black boxers pulled to her knobby knees. Their shirts had disappeared somewhere and Lena could see herself, red faced but intent, bent over Kara’s broad back like a shield. She nuzzled into a steely shoulder, licked her neck. Kara tasted like oceanspray. She made another sound, as needy as anything Lena had ever heard, and it made her clit twitch inside of the strap-on.
One hand, big enough to cup the back of Lena’s head and still have room, was clutching the basin while the other was intent between her legs. Lena could hear the frantic sound of Kara trying to get off, the wet squelch of a truly saturated ahrosh against dry skin.
“Good girl,” she murmured into Kara’s ear. “That’s my good girl.” She licked the crown of her ear, bit on her lobe. She could feel the lead against her tongue.
“Lee-nah,” Kara sobbed.
Lena couldn’t wait for the next iteration. The suction cup, the insertion piece, and the clit vibrator worked well, amazingly so if she said so herself, but she wanted to feel the innermost depths of Kara. She wanted to crawl inside and suckle on the depths of her heart.
She thrust harder, holding onto Kara’s wide hips, her feet spread just that little bit more for that tiny amount of traction. She was wet enough that the strap on was starting to slip and the friction was nearly gone. She was also moving fast enough that she thought her lungs would give out before the strapon.
Kara’s hand was a blur beneath them and her mouth opened in a silent scream. She thrust back at Lena once, twice, and the push against her clit made her cum before she was ready. She sunk her teeth into Kara’s shoulder and moaned as she pushed back into her lover, felt Kara’s deep breaths move her up and down. She realized, belatedly, that Kara had actually lifted her up by not keeping that deep arch in her back.
Lena managed to drop down onto the balls of her feet and made to take her dildo off. Before she could, Kara kneeled at her feet, pulled on it gently until the insertion piece slid out, and sucked it down. Five bright red inches, gone. Only those pillowy lips could do that, and only those mesmerizing eyes kept her in place as Kara spit it into her hand, then licked her thighs. Up, and up, and just the slightest flick of her tongue and Lena sobbed, clutching her wheat hair in both hands.
Kara sucked her girlcum down, her nose buried in the curls of her cunt, a satisfied glint in her eyes.
“C’mere,” Lena managed, “c’mere.”
Her girlfriend was a head taller than her and she leaned into her chest, taking a puffy nipple into her mouth. Kara was still hard, achingly so, and Lena hissed as her ahrosh rode between the furrow of her pussy. Lena was not naturally multiorgasmic but Kara definitely brought it out of her. Kara thrust almost mindlessly against her thighs. The only thing that betrayed her intent was the tender embrace at the same time. They could almost have been dancing if not for both of their desperate movements.
She bit Kara’s nipple and felt the hot breath on her scalp. Kara’s hands tightened ever so slightly.
“Give it to me,” She said, “my good girl, sweet girl, show me how much you’ve saved, just for me.”
“Lee-nah,” Kara rasped, “love you.” She moaned again and Lena felt her twitch between her thighs, hard enough to nudge her clit again.
Lena’s orgasm soaked them both to their knees.
Kara’s orgasm put a dent in the door.
Their lunch break had taken an hour, Lena was useless for meetings after that, and she’d barely managed to get Kara dressed before she’d fallen asleep on Lena’s horribly uncomfortable office couch. Yes, Lena thought, cuddling her alien, Jess definitely deserves a raise.

(i hope im not sending too many prompts, i have so many deke feels after tonight so im throwing them at you, if its too much ignore me!!) maybe something where deke accidently talks about his childhood a bit to fitzsimmons? like, an expansion of what we know in canon and how horrible it was. like (forgive me if im wrong my s5 memory isnt perfect lol) but im pretty sure he was a slave for a huge part of his life and that isnt spoken about much
Jemma Simmons was having as good of a day she could, having just time traveled and being a fugitive of the law, hiding in a huge underground bunker nobody knew about.
Her day got immensely worse when she entered the Lighthouse lab and saw the teams newest member, and her grandson from the future, digging a knife into his own arm.
"Deke!" Jemma rushed forward, grabbing a towel and going to take the knife away from him.
Deke Shaw looked up, breaking his concentrated grimace with a slightly curious look. "What?"
"What are you doing?" Jemma wrapped his bloody wrist with the towel.
"I'm taking my metric out." Deke set his knife down. "Is that supposed to be a big deal?"
Jemma furrowed her brow, carefully pulled the bloody towel away and inspected the cut. Sure enough, the circular metric was gone. The work was careful and delicate, and there wasn't as much blood as there should have been for an inexperienced cut.
"I thought you were hurting yourself." She said quietly. "I'm sorry."
Deke awkwardly wiped his bloody left hand on his pants. "It's fine, don't worry."
"Where did you learn to do this with such precision?" Jemma leaned down to look at the cut more carefully. It looked like it was made by an experienced surgeon.
Deke shrugged and grabbed a roll of bandages from the table next to him. "I picked it up as a kid. My mom was kind of like the doctor of the Lighthouse."
"This is amazing work." Jemma complimented. "But, doesn't it hurt?"
"Not really, no." Deke shook his head and started unrolling the bandages. "I have a high pain tolerance."
Jemma quickly grabbed the bandages and started wrapping his wrist for him. "Really?" She looked at him with concern. "Since when?"
Deke carelessly wiped the blood off the blade of his version of Fitzs multi tool with a small smile. "Oh, you know. The Kree weren't exactly benevolent leaders." He retracted the blade and put the knife in his pocket, smiling like he just made a hilarious joke.
Jemmas hands froze as she thought about the implications behind that statement. Deke took the opportunity to finish wrapping his wrist and start walking out.
"Bye, Nana!" He called cheerfully over his shoulder as he crossed the threshold of the door.
- - -
Fitz sighed and slammed his fist on the door. Locked. All the system updates that locked down the Lighthouse were getting very annoying.
"What's wrong?" Deke Shaw, Fitzs overeager grandson from the future, was leaning against the concrete wall.
"Bloody door's locked again." Fitzs frustration was abundant in his voice. "I need to get to the other end of the level." He held up a satchel full of papers he needed to get to the lab.
Deke smiled. "I can help." He walked over to the vent on the floor, slid his fingers between the grates and pulled. He set it against the wall and gestured to the new hole in the wall. "Do you have a problem with small spaces?"
Fitz stared. "You want me to crawl through the vent?"
"I know my way through the whole vent system, I can get you anywhere you need to go." Deke crouched down and looked through the dark tunnel, then up at his grandfather. "Unless you want to wait?"
Fitz sighed, pinched the bridge of his nose, then gestured to the vent. "Lead the way."
The vent shafts were larger than Fitz thought they would be, not quite wide enough for the two men to sit side by side, but tall enough for them to sit comfortably. But, they did not sit. Fitz could barely keep up with Deke, despite only being a few years older.
"Deke, slow down." Fitz called ahead, leaning back on his heals.
Deke stopped and turned around. "Sorry." He said sheepishly and crawled back to Fitz.
"Why are you in such a rush?" Fitz cracked his stiff neck.
"Force of habit, sorry." Deke apologized again. "I'm usually running when I'm in here."
That set off an alarm bell in Fitzs mind. "Running?"
"Yeah," Deke said like he wasn't talking about something important, "the Blues had some sort of vendetta against me or something. I think people made bets on how far I could go without getting caught." Fitz stared in shock. "My record is four levels."
"Were you okay when that happened?" Fitz asked carefully.
"No, of course not." Deke turned his head away. "Let's get going, you said you have something important, right?"
He did not wait for an answer, just started off in the direction that would lead to the lab. Fitz sighed, filed away that information to talk to his wife about later, and followed his grandson
- - -
"Ta-da!" Deke kicked the grate of the vent out and climbed out. He stood up and spread his arms out to show off his feat of navigation.
"Thank you, Deke." Fitz tossed his satchel to his grandson before climbing out and fixing the vent cover over the gaping hole. "I think I'll just wait next time."
Deke shrugged and handed the satchel over. "I get that. I usually only used the vents if I was in real danger."
"But you . . ." Fitz frowned, "you memorized the whole layout?"
"You've seen this place in eighty years." Deke started casually walking to the lab. "You know how often 'real danger' is."
Fitz stood frozen for a few seconds, staring at the back of his grandsons head. Then, he practically ran to the lab.
"Jemma," Fitz ran a hand through his hair and leaned against the open door, "has Deke said anything that's made you concerned in the time you've known him?"
Jemma looked up from what she was doing, worry flitting across her face. "What did he tell you?"
"Did you know that our grandson has the ventilation schematics memorized?" Fitz walked forward and lowered his voice. "Just in case he needed to run from the Kree."
Jemmas eyes widened. "Oh, my God."
"What did he tell you?" Fitz sat on one of the cots, the papers of research all but forgotten at his side.
"I found him digging his own metric out of his arm with a knife." Jemma leaned in, like this conversation was a secret to keep from the rest of the base. "But it didn't seem to hurt him, he told me he has a high pain tolerance." She sighed. "He implied the Kree would hurt him regularly, and he said it like it was no big deal."
Fitz sighed and scratched his neck. "What should we do?" He looked up his wife. "He shouldn't live in this world and expect it to be just like his."
Jemma nodded. "None of us are really qualified to act as therapists, but we should talk to him."
"I know this isn't the place I grew up in."
Both Fitz and Simmons spun around to look at the source of the voice. Deke was standing in the door.
"Deke!" Jemma stepped forward, as if to act like she wasn't just talking about him.
"I'm not naive." Deke continued. "I know this isn't the Lighthouse I'm used to."
Fitz put his hands up in a placating manor. "We never m--"
"I don't make a big deal out of my past because I don't want you guys to make a big deal out of it." Deke cut Fitz off. "I know my childhood was messed up. Believe me, I know."
"Why don't you want us to make a big deal about it?" Jemma asked. "You went through Hell."
"Yeah." Deke nodded. "I did. But this isn't the same place, and I want to move on with my life."
"Deke," Fitz started calmly, "it's not that easy."
"You can't just bottle everything away and expect to be fine." Jemma added.
"I'm very good at compartmentalizing." Deke crossed his arms.
"Compartmentalization isn't good for you." Fitz said. "Trust me, it's not."
Deke sighed. "If you knew what it was like to grow up in this place, you wouldn't want to think about it either."
Jemma walked over and placed her hand on her grandsons shoulder. "There are some things in life you have to face to move past."
"I am moving past things." Deke said stubbornly. "I'm making new, better memories where all the bad things in my life happened."
"Trauma doesn't work like that, Deke." Fitz said as gently as he could.
Deke ran both his hands through his hair with a deep sigh. "I shouldn't have said anything." He stood up and turned to the door.
"Deke, wait." Jemma grabbed his left arm. "You don't have to forget everything about your past or reinvent yourself."
"But I want to." Deke said very clearly. "Kasius owned me, and I don't want to feel like his property anymore."
Jemma made sure keep her voice calm, she didn't want to escalate this. "We've seen what he did, we know--"
"No, you don't know." Deke snapped. "He literally owned me. After my dad was sent to the surface, Kasius and Sinara wanted to groom me into one of their deaf servants."
Jemma and Fitz looked at each other, then back at their grandson.
"You know what it's like." He looked to Jemma. "Having that-- that-- that thing in my ear is one of the worst things that's ever happened to me."
"You've had it?" Jemmas voice went quiet. "How old were you?"
"I was fourteen." The fire in Dekes eyes never dampened. "So, forgive me if I want to forget that part of my life."
"Deke," Fitz said slowly, reaching out, "you don't need to keep going, we understand."
Deke sighed again, more aggressively, showing the frustration he was feeling. "Do you?" He asked. "You all were there for a few weeks, maybe. I was born there, raised there. I spent the first twenty-eight years of my life in that apocalyptic hellscape!" He gestured wildly around the room. "And I'm still here! Even when there's a rest of the world out there, I'm here, in the place I watched my whole family die."
"Deke . . ." neither grandparent knew how to handle this. It seemed that this was the first time he got to really talk about his past traumas in a serious way.
Deke sat down on one of the cots tiredly. "I watched you both die." He whispered, his eyes glassy with unshed tears.
"What?!" Jemma was at his side in seconds, Fitz not far behind.
"When I was nine, Kasius got rid of everyone who believed in the prophecy. All the smart people." Deke forced himself to steady his breath and closed his eyes. "They killed everyone in the middle of the Exchange, to make an example." He looked up at Jemma, then Fitz, then at the concrete floor. "They took my mom, and my moms parents."
"I--" Fitz clenched his fists at his side. "I'm sorry, Deke." He said quietly. He lifted his hand and carefully, comfortingly, rubbed Dekes back between the shoulder blades.
"We're going to make sure that world will never exist." Jemma promised. "So the next version of you to exist will never go through that."
Suddenly, Deke threw his arms around Jemma and Fitz. He pulled them into a tight hug and finally let the tears he had been holding in for God knows how long fall. Deke buried his face in the soft fabric of Fitz shirt as his shuddering breaths shook his whole frame. Both grandparents immediately returned the hug. It was a hug from a child who had lost his family too young, had been alone for too long.
As unconventional as this new family was, they loved each other. And this family kept their promises, no matter how far they need to go.

Harringrove ABO Masterlist
someone asked for an abo masterlist, so here it is!
this list isn’t sorted in any particular order, other than by date posted, which is the default on ao3. (newest -> oldest) i also didnt include every single fic in the abo tag because this list was already going to be a large post. if there are any fics i missed that someone thinks should be included, feel free to send an ask or to just reply to this post! :^) ♥ -cade

Carnal by mrhiddles (1/1 | 4,001 | Explicit)
Steve goes into heat when Billy pulls up to school. Billy's the only one who can help him, or so Steve says.
The Case Where Billy Hargrove Turned Out To Be Not Your Average Alpha by Anonymous (1/1 | 3,249 | Teen+)
“I don’t spend heats with alphas.” Steve said, his gaze avoiding Billy’s.
Billy faltered at that, his brows furrowing in confusion. “I thought you’d spent your heats with people before?” Billy asked.
“Well yeah, but not with alphas.” Steve huffed.
“So— You’re a faggot?” Billy asked, his eyes widening.

Perfectly Unnatural by ImNeitherNor (1/1 | 3,255 | Explicit)
‘You’re not an alpha in this house, boy. You’re not strong. You’re not even responsible with your sister. You don’t respect Susan. I thought I taught you enough in California.’
Neil’s words clang around Billy’s skull and burn the inside of his bones as he sits on the hood of his Camaro. The metal below his ass is warm from the engine just having been turned off, but the lights still spill out across the cliff. This place, nestled at the top and shrouded by trees, catches the wind just right. The wind bites through his jean jacket, settling close to his skin. The cherry red glow of his cigarette gives a false sense of warmth and puts Billy’s teeth on edge.
‘You’re unnatural.’
warnings: references to childhood abuse
Puppy Pile by Strawberry_Sweetheart (1/1 | 2,432 | Not Rated)
Steve forgets about his heat and thinks he has enough time to make a grocery run before it really hits.
He seems to have miscalculated.
Luckily, Billy is there’s to get him home safe.

One Last Time by Strawberry_Sweetheart (1/1 | 3,157 | Not Rated)
It came with a phone call late at night, just past the witching hour. It was deathly quiet and dark, a new moon withholding any moonlight to chase the shadows away, and in that silence the piercing ring of the telephone downstairs cut through their dreams. A sleepy noise and wiggle came from the lump under Billy, shifting until it escaped Billy’s arms and legs that held it hostage.
Or
this is a requested fic for Alpha El + Billy and Steve being good parental figure types and helping her figure things out

So messed up, I want you here by Boudoir_Writer (1/1 | 3,942 | Explicit)
“I turned you bitch, Harrington.” His voice is gravel and petrol, his limbs and heart lead. “We’re never going to be done.”
warnings: dubcon
Smoke by Carerra_os (1/1 | 468 | General)
Billy is ditching class for a smoke break when Steve comes along. -
Originally this was written for You're Extra Special, Something Else. However that story went in a different direction.
Black silk and wild flowers by Catharrington (1/1 | 3,015 | Explicit)
Steve’s birthday was really just another day. The only thing that made it special was his fathers insistence on going to a party thrown for just him, a party filled with starving alphas with fat wallets all rutting against themselves to buy their own little omega. Steve hates what his father makes him do. Steve hates his birthday. Until Billy Hargrove crawls through his window to remind him it’s not all bad, silver lining in the clouds and shit, and brings him a present.
Drop (The Game) by MissGillette (3/3 | 42,080 | Explicit)
Billy has wanted a piece of Steve since spotting him on the school parking lot his first day. So when Steve flees the bathroom at Tina's Halloween party, distressed and about to drop, Billy does the only logical thing: follow the scent.
The Lucky One by wingedbears (1/1 | 6,881 | Mature)
In a world where on one arm is your soulmate's name, and the other's is your enemy's, omega Billy has to learn to let shit go.
Princess of the apocalypse by Boozombie (2/2 | 15,034 | Explicit)
Steve just wanted to keep his kids safe, and Billy knows how to use that.
warnings: rape/non-con
Princess that runs his world by Boozombie (3/3 | 11,747 | Not Rated)
Billy takes Steve to wash up and plans to get him alone for a date. Steve wants to bring his pack along.
warnings: creator chose not to use archive warnings, rape/non-con elements
lately i feel like i've been losing (my mind) by ToAStranger (1/1 | 3,162 | Explicit)
Billy hasn't felt right since the summer straight out of a horror movie. His instincts are all off. And Steve Harrington keeps looking at him.
Pothos by moonflowers (1/1 | 6,714 | Explicit)
He felt like the rabbit and the fox all at once, the thrill of chasing and being chased, a circle, whole. He might’ve felt stupid about it, if it hadn’t been so intense. Robin always told him he fell for people too easy – and fine, she was right – but this was something else. Or maybe not yet, but oh man he was starting to think he wanted it to be. And it was probably idiotic of him to get his hopes up, but he couldn't help but think maybe Billy did too; watching Steve from behind a tired and quietly angry veneer, a little twist of hope just visible through the mask.
Dubious Hijinks by Corvin (1/1 | 3,998 | Teen+)
Steve needs a buffer between him and the alpha his dad picked for him. The best option he can think of is an uncooperative Billy Hargrove.
with them indiana boys (on them indiana nights) by ToAStranger (1/1 | 4,842 | Teen+)
The thing is, when Billy first saw Steve Harrington, he knew.
He grew up knowing. It was hard not to, with all of those hormones and instincts running through his fucking veins. He knew, one day, he’d run across someone that smelled so right, so fucking perfect that he’d want nothing more than to bury his face against their scent gland and breathe in until the smell becomes a taste becomes a sensation becomes--
Well. The thing is, he’s always known.
None Brighter Than Your Eyes by Doodsxd (1/1 | 9,991 | Explicit)
Sex Ed course came once again, and, for the first time, Billy listened.
He listened, because it started to match and make sense with what Max’s little troup told him over and over again.
Apparently, it was biology which dictated that omega jewelry wasn’t just a futility or decoration, or even a signal that the omega was taken. It wasn’t a trade, sex for jewelry, like Neil had taught him all his life. No: scientists had found back in the sixties that omega jewelry has a soothing effect, especially during heat, as a reminder of love and affection; something tangible and available at all times, even when no one is.
warnings: graphic depictions of violence
"is that what you want, princess?" by greeneyedsourwolf (1/1 | 4,008 | Explicit)
Steve asks Billy if he wants to spend their first heat together.
warnings: creator chose not to use archive warnings
Pool Time Stress by AMemoryDelayed (1/1 | 2,610 | Explicit)
Steve's been visiting the pool pretty frequently. He can't help it when he'd been carted along that one time. He can't stand to watch Billy eye other women. It makes him regret it too, and yet. He's excited when Billy barely even moves his gaze over to him. He gives Steve the slightest of grins from where he's sat at. He doesn't make any other sign to warn him of what's to come beyond that. Steve knows though.
warnings: creator chose not to use archive warnings
Thanks Phyllis by Corvin (1/1 | 11,764 | Explicit)
Steve wants to start a family and asks Billy for help. What was supposed to be a purely professional exchange turns a lot more intimate than he expected.
Everything falls back by Crowweb (1/1 | 1,302 | Teen+)
Billy isn't home like he's supposed to and Steve gets a bad feeling through their bond. The alpha turns up beaten up after a couple of hours.
warnings: creator chose not to use archive warnings, blood
push him down (spread him out) by tol_sirion (1/1 | 3,529 | Explicit)
“It’s embarrassing.” Steve whines and covers his face instead.
Billy tuts. “None of that, now,” he says, and Steve slowly looks up, hands falling to each side of his head instead. “Just one more picture. One more, and I’ll give you what you want.”
And maybe it’s cruel, holding it over Steve like that. Like only if Steve is good and does what Billy says, he’ll finally get dicked down the exact way he wants, and not a minute before.
Woke Up Thirsty by trashcangimmick (1/1 | 3,256 | Explicit)
Billy shows up at the Byers house looking for Maxine. Instead, he finds Steve Harrington and a kind of surprising proposition.
warnings: creator chose not to use archive warnings
Grace Me With Nothing But Patience by itscrybabyharrington (icanspelliero) (1/1 | 6,587 | Explicit)
It started off as an itch beneath the surface of his skin, no matter how hard Steve pressed his nails could never dig through, could never scratch the discontent that simmered just beneath.
Tommy says it’s nothing, signs of an early rut approaching, meds wearing off after taking them for so long. Only Steve knows Tommy is full of shit and this doesn’t feel like a rut.
warnings: underage, offensive language used, homophobia
Buzzcut Season by Senowolf (1/1 | 6,332 | Teen+)
Steve always waits for Billy to come back to him.
I Wanna Be Loved by harringrovecryptid (13/13 | 51,993 | Explicit)
"Brenner Relations" was one of the most lucrative businesses in the modern age. But only its clients and staff actually knew how it made its money. Billy Hargrove found himself being one of those people. But the deeper he got involved with the shady industry, the more secrets he began to uncover regarding the omegas that are considered company property.
warnings: graphic depictions of violence, rape/non-con elements
Assigned Alpha by Kiram (2/2 | 3,415 | Explicit)
Steve used to just be an unknown secondary gender till Billy Hargrove rolled into town. Steve’s stuck in a rock and a hard place and is inevitable forced to fold and give into his nature. Billy likes bugging Steve while simultaneously protecting him.
war song by themundaneweirdo (1/1 | 1,789 | General)
Steve misses his soldier.
Don't Take Your Time With Me by trashcangimmick (1/1 | 6,864 | Explicit)

I Can Do That by captainwingdings (1/1 | 1,971 | Explicit)

Hot Blooded by captainwingdings (1/1 | 4,463 | Explicit)
The new guy from California catches Steve Harrington's attention for more than one reason. Not only was he hot as hell and didn't know how to button his shirts, but he was the strangest omega that Steve had ever seen.
warnings: creator chose not to use archive warnings
Moaning Lisa Smile by trashcangimmick (1/1 | 3,735 | Explicit)
Billy maybe kind of hides the fact that he’s an Omega because he’s too queer, and too pretty, and would rather not deal with a bunch of idiot Alphas trying to screw the gay out of him. But Steve’s not an Alpha. Steve is also very pretty.
warnings: creator chose not to use archive warnings, consent issues
Sweet Dream (Saccharine) by Highsmith (1/1 | 16,039 | Explicit)
Billy and Steve aren't friends, until they are, and they're not more than that, because the world doesn't work that way.
warnings: implied/referenced child abuse, recreational drug use
Pressing the accelerator down by Etnoe (1/1 | 6,229 | Explicit)
Heat season takes a toll of two alphas who can't find anyone to share a rut with. Aside, of course, from each other.
warnings: creator chose not to use archive warnings
Keeping a bit of you by peirypatt (1/1 | 697 | General)
Over the years Steve's room has had several changes and seen many trends and phases, but there was only one thing that didn't belong to Steve inside his bedroom. A denim blue jacket.
It came naturally to us by peirypatt (1/1 | 650 | General)
Saying that Steve and Billy held hands in 1999 for the first time would be wrong and right at the same time. It's complicated, and at the same time, it's not.
Don't Belong To Anyone (Else) by sparkleeye (2/2 | 31,145 | Explicit)
And he does, just Billy’s fucking luck, because Harrington licks his lips and hoarsely goes, “I fucking knew it, fuck Hargrove, you’re in heat.”
He shudders as Harrington takes a step towards him. The tangy, warm scent of alpha has him struggling to stand upright, already slipping into the too far gone state and it’s fucking Harrington’s fault because he still won’t leave.
Better yet, he knows, he can smell the sweetness of omega, particularly herbal and saccharine like lavender and vanilla - Billy knows he smells like a girly little candle, okay - flooding the air between them. He could push Billy over and take him there, on the floor, push his face down onto the cracked, dusty concrete and fuck him stupid.
aka -- Billy is a stubborn idiot and goes to school during his heat.

Upside Down, You're Turning Me by ImNeitherNor (1/1 | 7,885 | Explicit)
“Let me get this straight. You want me to go into the middle of the fucking woods in below zero temperatures to find someone who is probably high as a kite and just having the time of his damned life?”
“We’re worried--” Max starts and Billy sneers.
“That sounds like a personal problem, Maxine. Steve is a big boy, an alpha, and can handle--” Billy tears his gaze away from Max as Dustin climbs on top of his hood and sits there. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?”
“Not moving,” Dustin shrugs and crosses his arms over his chest.

Doctor’s Visit by HalfNakedWriter (1/1 | 2,320 | Explicit)
Steve goes for his 38 week appointment.
'Cause We Feel Young and Wild by BeautyInChains (1/1 | 1,515 | Explicit)
Soon, is Steve’s best guess. Soon like the subtle itch beneath his skin that intensifies with each passing day. Soon like the voracity of his appetite as his body begins to prepare itself for the upcoming marathon. Soon like the aggression that continues to build and threaten to spill whenever another Alpha so much as glances Billy’s way. Soon like the way he’s been tenting his sheets, his slacks, his gym shorts at so much as a gentle breeze.
So when Billy texts him that morning, an eggplant emoji followed by the fire, peach, and splashing water emojis with not one but three question marks, Steve replies with Soon.

Lost My Mind by trimorning (1/1 | 1,564 | Teen+)
"I don't want to be dramatic."
He doesn’t know what Steve is going to say, which isn’t normal because he’s a predictable kind of mess, so it makes him feel vulnerable.
But its fine, its just Steve so it will undoubtedly be fine. Billy looks back at the other boy, “I can tell you right now, that you are physically incapable of not being dramatic, so continue.”
---- An a/b/o Harringrove one-shot that has little to do with a/b/o and more with Steve's flirty and messy ass. enjoy
Lavender by PoisonousFlower3 (1/1 | 756 | Mature)
"Billy hated being an alpha. He hated how it made his sense of smell stronger and smell the despair that always seemed to linger in this town. He hated how he was always so angry, though he knew that part of it was the abuse from his dad and his temper.
What he didn’t hate was how it let him get a good whiff of Steve whenever he was around."
In which case home starts to include Steve Harrington for Billy.

Nine to five. by Fanflick (9/9 | 34,301 | Explicit)
Steve knew that everything would ultimately come to this, working for his father at a boring office job. It wasn't easy being an omega in hiding, especially now since Steve's boss is the arrogant alpha Billy Hargrove. Now Steve has to work alongside his high school rival while also trying to save enough money to get away from his father. How hard can that be?

turn me loose by hoppnhorn (1/1 | 3,321 | Explicit)
Billy is a dominant, powerful alpha with a slew of omegas dying to win his affection. He loves it, lives for it, except when he’s in rut. Steve is an omega and fights it every damn day. But when his body goes into heat, needs to breed, he can’t do anything to stop it. Billy is in rut and Steve is in heat when a freak heatwave knocks out the air conditioning in their shared apartment complex. Open windows and rampant hormones? What could go wrong?
Punch by hati_skoll (1/1 | 2,330 | Teen+)
Steve is dragged off by another alpha, Billy handles it.
A Start by ImNeitherNor (1/1 | 5,574 | Explicit)
The quarry was always Steve’s go to when he needed a place to breathe, an area where the smells weren’t in his face and he could think straight. It was strange how one person’s heat could trigger another. Steve, a slightly cowed alpha after Hargrove rolled in, was done with the overpowering scents and the looks that were being thrown around.
He wasn’t interested in any of it. None.
So, when he pulled up onto the edge of the quarry and stepped out, he almost groaned at the smell that hit him. An omega. An omega in heat. Fuck. This is exactly what he had hoped to get away from. He was ready to slide back in and yank his car in reverse when he looked up and saw, exactly, what car was sitting to the side, shaded by an overcast of trees. If he hadn’t actually looked, it would have slipped away. He blamed his sharper senses, his need to search out the omega.

Steve’s not a fighter. He sucks at it, actually. He’s a little soft, but he isn’t totally weak or awfully tiny. He’s a good Alpha in many of the ways that count! Just because he isn’t running around sleeping with anyone willing, picking fights, and beating people to death doesn’t mean he’s a bad Alpha. And though Billy might do all that, but he isn't a bad Omega.

Earth 5620 - Chapter 1
Summary: When fractures start appearing across the world, S.W.O.R.D. and S.H.I.E.L.D. work together to create a team of...specialists. It’ll take them coming together to stop two dimensions from colliding.
Word Count: 2604 words
Warnings: Um, none that I can think of?
Marvel Kiddos
A/N: I haven’t written anything on here in a WHILE. So I hope you like it. :)
--
January 15th. Seattle. Washington
Covert. That was what they were supposed to be in this moment. Calm, cool, collected. Gathering information because this was a clusterfuck. They were waiting for higher-ups. That was their orders. Still, when she got the call, this wasn’t what she had expected.
A split between dimensions.
Cracked – but who swung the hammer? Who manipulated the reality?
Boots scuffed against concrete as she reached for it. The best way to learn was to discover. That was what she always believed and now seemed just as good a time as any to practice that idea.
“Director Carter.”
Sharon sighed. Her hand dropped to her side as she turned to see who S.W.O.R.D. had sent to help. “It’s not exactly comforting when they send in their best, Captain Rambeau.”
Monica smirked. She loved being sent in. Desk work did her no good and she figured the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. was the same way. “What is it?” She gestured to the crack. No, Fracture. Definitely a Fracture. It was too big. Too noticeable to be anything else.
“Was hoping you could tell me. This area is more your specialty, don’t you think?”
Her smirk grew into a smile as Sharon gave her a knowing look. It was true. S.H.I.E.L.D. specialized in super soldiers, arrogant billionaires, and things like vibranium. Mutants too, but that was because of Sharon’s aunt. There was a special interest there for them.
S.W.O.R.D. handled the weird and freaky. Things that had no real explanation. Infinity Stones…Alternate Realitiess? Or Aliens? Powers that were more than genetics and Masters of the Mystic Arts? That was Monica’s area.
There was a mutual respect between the two. One neither woman would ever dare to overstep even if their specialties chose to intertwine.
She turned her attention back to the Fracture, circling it. However, as she reached its side, the crack vanished. “It’s two dimensional.” She glanced at Sharon who mirrored her movements.
Sure enough. It was like looking through a window.
“I’ll get my men to do some readings.” Monica was already heading back to the vehicles, knowing her men were waiting on an update. “Let’s see if there’s anything on the other side.”
Surprisingly quiet, Sharon couldn’t take her eyes off the anomaly. As interesting as “another side” sounded, she had to wonder –
Was this the only occurrence?
March 19th New Orleans. Louisiana
“We need to stop meeting like this.”
Monica’s gaze shifted from the Fracture to her newest guests. “Director Carter.” She didn’t move from her spot on the ground. The reactor in her hand was still struggling to get a reading. The last thing she needed was to mess that up. “This is only the second, remember?”
“Yeah, but I’m worried about the lack of information.”
Monica sighed. Passing off the reactor to a S.W.O.R.D. operative, she rose to her feet and walked around the Fracture. It was at least twenty feet long – more than twice the size of the one in Seattle. And she wasn’t the only one to notice. She joined Sharon’s side and only just noticed the worry on Sharon’s face. It was etched so deep in her features, as strong and unwavering as diamond. Monica understood her fear. Truly.
Things had grown considerably calmer since Thanos was destroyed. This sparked problems and no one had a clue how big they were. The questions were surpassing their answers and it was enough to make both women feel ill.
“Let my specialists work, okay? If a third pops up, we’ll talk about a POA. But right now, it could be a coincidence. We got a lot of them in this line of work.” With a gentle nudge and a friendly smile, Monica reminded her, “You know that.”
“The last time we believed something was a coincidence, we had to learn the hard way that Hydra and Weapon X were one and the same.”
Monica winced. “Okay. Bad choice of words.” Looking back, she knew they should worry. At least a little. But she didn’t want to react yet. Sharon was always ready for a fight. And while Monica was too, there had been a fair amount of peace that she wasn’t ready to let go of.
Not yet.
May 7th. Boston. Massachusetts
Darcy couldn’t take her eyes off of it. It looked as if glass was breaking. In the middle of the air. It sounded ridiculous, she knew that, but it was an accurate description. This was something she would expect from an Asgardian visit. Instead – it was hovering in the middle of the Boston Public Garden. Appearing out of nowhere.
She’d guess it was at least a mile long and half a mile wide. It was huge.
“That looks weird.”
“You could say that again.” Darcy kept up her trek across the ridiculously huge park. She looked ahead and found the guy that had spoken. He wasn’t paying attention to anyone that had run away or the officers that were attempting to evacuate the park. He was completely wrapped up in the same thing she had been staring at. She joined his side. “Doctor Darcy Lewis – astrophysicist.”
He hadn’t realized she had spoken to him until she cleared her throat. Pulled from his thoughts, he glanced down at her and nodded. “Will.”
“You’re not scared of it?” Darcy raised a brow. Did he have a death wish?
Will chuckled. He propped his glasses on top of his head and gave her his full attention. His eyes – a splattering of rainbows and crystals – were almost impossible to look at. “I’m really good with weird.”
Behind them, just entering the park, Monica and Sharon slowed their run. It seemed their realization was mutual. This wasn’t just a couple cracks, or Fractures as Monica called them, this was something big. Very big.
Unable to tear her eyes away, Monica asked Sharon, “So you remember that POA I mentioned?”
She nodded. “I got a couple ideas. A few phone calls we can make.”
May 12th. Afghanistan. South Asia
He should be lifting spirits right now, being a leader. That was all that was on his mind. Hope was key – especially with the men and women. Their chance to go home had been prolonged for another five months. Five months with no contact for his soldiers. No way of reaching their families.
It was so much to ask of them. And instead of trying to give them hope, he was here. Why? He spared a glance across the room, recognizing the other guy. He was lower rank, but a specialist. His name – Benjamin couldn’t bring himself to remember it.
“You’re Master Sergeant Rogers, right?”
Benjamin couldn’t hide his surprise. There was no way. But as surprised as he was, he was also impressed. “Yeah. And you shouldn’t be talking.”
The specialist chuckled, shoulders shaking. “Our parents fought together.”
“How did you know? No one else – “
“Everyone knows. We just don’t say it.”
Benjamin huffed, nostrils flaring. He looked away only for a moment before remembering, “You’re Clint’s and Nat’s kid. Jensen, right?” He nodded and Ben shifted in his seat. “I’m sorry. About her – your mom, I mean.”
Jensen scoffed. “Look, we don’t have to get into that. I was just pointing out that we’re Superkids. That’s probably why we’re here.”
An awkward silence fell between them. Jensen, who had no interest in acknowledging the tension, simply stayed put. But Ben found himself counting the seconds, the minutes.
It took ten of them. Ten minutes of uncomfortable tension before the door finally opened.
The two stood, backs tense and hands poised, ready to salute whoever walked through those doors.
They hadn’t expected to see James Woo, FBI agent and overall awkward individual. He nodded, offering a curt smile as he said, “Hi.”
Ben and Jensen shared a look, hands already mid salute when Jimmy shook his hands.
“Don’t do that. Seriously. I’m here with a friend and we…Well, we need your help.”
Furrowed brows and confusion hung in the air. It seemed a million questions silently morphed over their features before they saw Jimmy’s friend enter behind him.
Ben smiled, recognizing her from many a training session. “Captain Rambeau.”
“Master Sergeant Rogers.” She smiled. “It’s been a while.”
“Just a decade or so.”
The two shared a laugh, easing a bit of the tension in the room. And while that was great for them, it left one person still in the dark. Jensen shifted from one foot to the other, raising a hand as if he had to be called on. “Look, reunions are great and all, but can I bring up the elephant in the room? Why’re you here?” He pointed to himself and Ben. “And why’re we?”
Monica huffed. “About that…”
Queens. New York
Flying through the air, an excited laugh tumbled from her lips. She landed on the fire escape with ease and released the webbing. Sparing one quick glance, fingers curled around her window and she crawled inside.
It fell shut behind her. With a sharp exhale, the mask was tugged off and her massive curls freed. Lena checked her appearance for a quick moment. Flipping her hair and nudging it with her fingers, she was satisfied enough. Next came removing the Spidersuit, replacing it with comfy, pink joggers and keeping the sports bra.
She was home. Extra effort didn’t have to be made in her attire.
“Lena!”
She squeaked, jumping a foot in the air when she heard her father’s voice. Normally, it was Lena’s mom shouting for her to do the dishes or some other boring chore. Her dad didn’t yell. He didn’t like yelling. Grabbing her phone, she was quick to leave her room only to find herself particularly confused when she saw her dad wasn’t alone.
Well, at least the yelling made sense now.
“Dad?”
Peter looked up. That goofy smile of his, the one she had known all of her life, was staring right back at her. But it was different. Proud? Maybe that was the word? Not surprising. He was always proud of her. “Hey, how was school?”
“It was good.” Her eyes drifted back to the blonde. She was edgy in a weird sort of way. While Lena had grown up hearing how rough and tough her mom was, this woman was different. She redefined the meaning of the word. “Who’s this?”
“This is Sharon Carter. She’s the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.”
“Hey, Miss Parker.” Sharon offered a smile. It was enough to melt the edges away. She softened, but Lena didn’t buy it. It was too much. As if Sharon was trying to relate to her.
“Yeah, cool. What’s this about? I have homework.”
Peter leaned against the counter. “Since when do you care about homework?”
Lena pouted. Okay, that was fair. But she found herself taking a quick step back when Sharon walked around the dining table. It was weird. She should trust her. Her dad did. But their histories in the Superworld were different. And this wasn’t a face she recognized.
“Is this you?”
Lena’s gaze shifted from Sharon’s face to the clip on her phone. It was her in her Spidersuit, swinging in and out of those random cracks that had appeared in the MoMa in Queens and the Brooklyn Museum. According to the news, a couple more had popped up in New Jersey and California. She shrugged. “Um…yeah. No one had closed them off yet.”
Sharon’s face morphed into that of amusement. She zoomed out on the clip, showing the warnings and Agents that were securing the area or had just finished.
A blush tinted Lena’s cheeks as she looked from parent to agent and back again. “Am I in trouble?”
Sharon shook her head as Peter grinned from ear to ear. “Far from it actually. If it’s okay with you, I’d really appreciate your help.”
May 20th. S.W.O.R.D. Headquarters
Terrance’s fingers impatiently drummed on the steering wheel. He really didn’t like this idea. He didn’t trust it. “Look I know Dad wanted us to help out Sharon ‘cause she’s family, but we don’t know anything about these guys.”
“Sure we do.” Sasha’s small smile didn’t reach her eyes. She didn’t like it either. She definitely didn’t trust it. “We’ve known Sharon since Dad and Papa adopted us. And neither of them would send us anywhere they didn’t think was safe.”
Terrance parked the car, getting out as Sasha followed suit. “I’m just saying, there are a lot of other big-name heroes they could be calling. This isn’t our territory.”
“And I couldn’t agree more, but I did my research. S.W.O.R.D. helped take down Weapon X and Hydra. They played a big part in bringing our parents back. We can do this.” She looked at Terrance. “But I’m not going in if you aren’t.”
He looked at the massive building, having to crane his neck. It was huge. Gaudy. Too much for people who were supposed to be blending in to do good. “They just want our abilities, Sash.”
“Maybe. But what if they need us?”
His distaste shifted to a plain, old grimace that he had given his sister one too many times. “I hate when you do that.”
She laughed. “And I love it.”
The two stepped inside the building. It was too bright. Too clean. Neither of them liked it, but they had grown used to this being “normal” for these types of organizations. You must look good to do your job. At least that was what these groups shoved down their throats.
“Maggie!” Sasha immediately brightened at the sight of her old friend making her way towards them.
“Hey, guys.” Smile unwavering, Maggie tackled the two in a hug. It made Sasha soften, but Terrance was still tense. Some things never change. “Guessing it was Uncle Bucky that talked you into this?”
“More Dad actually,” Terrance told her.
Though surprised, Maggie appreciated that Sam had managed to do this. “Well, I’m just glad to see two familiar faces,” she admitted. “C’mon. I was just heading towards Monica’s office.”
--
The screaming could be heard far before they actually reached the door. Terrance grimaced, already looking at Sasha as if she owed him for getting him here. Who could have caused such a huge fight when they weren’t even there yet?
And hearing so many voices, he had to wonder – how many people had they asked for help?
“Um, I think we’re in here.” Maggie grabbed the door. With a sharp tug, she held it open for them and gave them a peak of the chaos inside.
Overlapping voices, overwhelmingly loud. A girl in a green Spidersuit hung from the ceiling with no intension of coming down. A blonde guy, super tall and screaming “Captain America” vibes was currently holding back a smaller, brunet.
That was the guy doing most of the shouting. And it wasn’t to everyone. No. It was to one guy. He was arrogant, smirking because he clearly held the power. He wasn’t shouting. He didn’t feel the need to. Instead, he shrugged and waved to the newest additions in the room.
One guy currently being shielded by two familiar faces. Monica and Sharon. They were desperately trying to calm down the screaming guy.
And then there was the last one – standing by the door. He looked over his shoulder, nodding to Terrance, Sasha, and Maggie. “Glad you could join us.”
Terrance shook his head, his elbow hitting Sasha’s rib. She hissed, rubbing her side as she muttered, “Ow.”
He gave her the look. That look that every sibling gave when they truly meant what they said next. “You owe me.”

This is Actually a Completely Subjective List Written in a Completely Objective Voice, so I’m not Wrong, Y’all just had a Bad Year: A Look at the Best Titles of 2020 A.D.
By Orova
I feel like a recap or an intro that encompasses the past year will be redundant to both the reader and the writer, so I just won’t. Instead, I’ll just say that due to circumstances provided by 2020, I had a lot of time to just shut up and play games. And games did I play. I played a lot of good games[1]. I played a lot of bad games[2]. I bought the newest games that came out[3] and I went back down memory lane with some classics[4]. But at the end of every day, I was completely satisfied with how I spent my time and did what I wanted. So this is a list of the games that surpassed satisfaction, pushed the bar higher, and made me reconsider what a truly great game can be in 2020.
The Last Of Us Part II
This game is a beautiful work of art and storytelling. If gripping gameplay is what you came for, then you’ll be staying for the story. Naughty Dog continues to come out with games that push current gen Playstations to astronomical heights, making that hardware and software work overtime to get a game that becomes so overwhelmingly tangible that it cause the player to stop. The Last of Us Part II is no exception to this rule. So often does this game take lefts and rights when you expect it to go straight that it is absolutely insane how much ground it truly covers. Sneaking about before getting into claustrophobic gunfights feels smooth and natural, the new mechanics and enemies are unique, and while the non-linear parts can overstay their welcome at times, the game is long enough for them to not fill in empty space.
When I first played this, I was with my girlfriend for the whole journey and at the end, I didn’t feel quite as fulfilled as I thought I should’ve from the sequel to one of the greatest games I’ve ever played. It wasn’t until I returned on a higher difficulty did I find just how much this game has to offer, making the story all the more powerful as every fight truly felt like my last and every enemy made me rethink my choices and decision making and every arrow I fired and molotov I threw felt a nice weight to it that I have to emphasize once more. This game is a beautiful work of art and storytelling as the gameplay speaks for itself before anything else.
Final Fantasy VII Remake
To those that actually care, I reviewed this game when it came out[5] and I was shocked to find how many people didn’t appreciate it as much as I did. Final Fantasy VII is one of the most influential titles of my life that being able to see Cloud’s hair rendered so cleanly in this dystopian futuristic gothic fantasy world was a miracle in my eyes. A dream come true. The action comes in spades with enough sword fighting and magic to make Power Rangers to look like a fucking picnic.
The graphical design of the game, the direction of animation, and the cunning take on a lot of depth we never got to see so early on makes me very excited for future titles to come. There are some downsides, lots involving the side quests and voice acting, but that is just some of its downsides to look past to find the content at its core. Shooting moonbeams out of your greatsword at stormtroopers while in chase on a motorcycle. Take down a tyrannical oil monger as an eco-terrorist. Find cats for a little girl. Is this a Bioshock? No. But is it a game I keep trying to remind myself to not replay? Yes.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 Remake
Superman by Goldfinger played and my sister laughed as she watched me cry. This game brought tears to my eyes, literally. As I got to relive sitting in my grandma’s basement, I was propelled to complete absolutely everything I wanted to do. This game was a complete package and its delivery was spot on with what a remake should be. A collection on a past game with quality of life improvements, enhanced handling and accessibility, and a software overhaul.
The game is simple. Complete challenges, unlock drip, flex on your friends. Usually in that order. But it is finally that simplicity in a new game that makes it such a good title. We wanted the game we knew and loved and they promised that. Nothing more, nothing less, it is exactly what we got. A new soundtrack, updated graphics, and nostalgia not most can achieve is a massive point to play this game.
Huntdown
Contra meets Kung Fury. Why the fuck have you not grabbed a friend and played this masterpiece yet. I mean seriously. If you’ve got a roommate or SO or friend with nothing going on tonight, play this shit. It’s great. Moving on.
Mortal Shell
I would like to address the fact that, yes, this is a souls-like and it isn’t exactly the most friendly game because of it. However, this game came out of fucking nowhere and blew me on my ass. Going back to delivering on a promise, these guys crafted an unforgiving title with little to no hand holding to show that this-THIS[6]-is how you make a souls-like. It is balls to the walls skill based combat where the player has to use what little tools they have to overcome a myriad of enemies. Progress is possible only through rewards and items, meaning there is no grinding or farming, just straight gameplay.
This is a game where I paid half the price for a full game and got, while a shorter title, the enjoyment from a full priced AAA game. It takes no time to complete when the “click” happens and it is a fun, fulfilling title the whole time. There are some incredibly unique mechanics that forced me to break my souls brain and for that, it just makes the experience far more personal. If you aren’t weak hearted, I cannot recommend Mortal Shell enough.
Doom Eternal
When Doom Eternal dropped, my sister was playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons. After we both went into respective video game comas from it, we dubbed March 20th Doom Crossing Day. Doom is Doom. Nothing more to say past that honestly, but I will continue my rambling cause I know it’s what you all want anyway.
These guys keep cranking the intensity knob higher and higher. With Doom 2016 these guys said, “Hey, what if we gave the best first person shooter that requires no thinking whatsoever to completely obliterate enemies and zoom around the map at breakneck speeds?” With Eternal, the guys said, “Hey, what if we did what we did for 2016 except this time, we actually have the everyone (enemies and the player) move faster, hit harder, and actually require them to think?” With that, the gore orgy of Doom Eternal was born. Still very much a fast paced shooter with some extra content to fill the pockets of completionists, it delivers in fucking truckloads exactly what it wants from the player. To let loose and fucking floor every hellish abomination in their path.
And the soundtrack, while a sad story, is still one of the best things to listen to in gaming and probably the world.
Darkwood
The only thing that made me stop to consider buying this game was how reliant on a crafting system it seemed. I hate games that force crafting. I don’t know why, so I won’t elaborate. But, done with The Last of Us Part II and needing a survival horror itch to scratch, I sucked it up and bought it. After all, being an indie title for a genre I admire more than most, it couldn’t have been a terrible waste of time. That was probably the single best decision I made during the last year and Darkwood is not lost on me in that sense.
The fact that Darkwood has not only exposed the horizon of top-down horror, but it has experimented and perfected its use for the camera angle is astounding. The atmosphere rides on that perspective and, between the short days of scavenging and talking to the few NPCs you meet to the long nights crouched in the corner of your (un)safe haven, it is never lost. It’s a game where you constantly hear your heart in your ears. The combat can be sloppy at times but the story is one of a kind and its execution is phenomenal. If you are a fan of horror games or roguelikes, I cannot tell you enough. Get Darkwood.
Deep Rock Galactic
After lots of thoughtful consideration, I have deemed this the number one title of 2020. Not only did it keep me and my friends together and in touch during the hard times, it is a shooter that I support with my whole body. You and your friends play as a team of drunk space dwarves, tasked with a mission that sends you deep into a spider-infested planet, where you will have to use your class sets to fight, plunder, and escape the hostile environment.
With PvE at its core and ridiculousness as its foundation, Deep Rock Galactic is a masterpiece of cooperative shooting and procedurally generated dungeon crawling. Blending class play from Team Fortress 2 with unexpected and differing missions from Darkest Dungeon, one will find this lighthearted shooter is an easy, accessible title. With a hint of Risk of Rain to complete its graphics, the game is above all fun. That’s right. It. Is. Just. Fun. Shoot a spider that launches fireballs from its mouth, drink beer that teleports you into the farthest reaches of space, get rich off of gold veins while your team calls you greedy, dye your beard purple, and Rock and Stone in this amazing fusion of PvE and dungeon crawling.
Thank you for coming. There will be no score. It is simply a list where I feel those that need some new titles after the biggest disappointment of them all[7] should find some great titles in here for themselves. Have a safe next year and be patient. Patience is what will reward you. Practice is what humbles you. Hesitation is defeat. Toodles.

All Grown Up
A/N: This really isn’t that great, but I wanna get back into the habit of writing. So here’s a fun flash-forward of my faves! Enjoy.
Light humming on the other side of the master bathroom door added to the low noise from the Bluetooth speaker in the bedroom as husband and wife savored the beginnings of a warm Saturday morning. CoCo sat cross-legged on her side of the bed, her silver hair pulled back into a low ponytail and her reading glasses on the end of her nose to assist her in reading from her tablet. Now that the kids were older and more independent, she and Chadwick had more time to enjoy the expected laziness of a Spring afternoon and spend precious moments with each other.
At least they thought.
Heavy footsteps racing toward their door went unnoticed until the source of the noise came barreling into the room.
“Ma, I need your help!”
CoCo commanded the speaker to stop playing her curated mix of morning music to give her undivided attention to the tall, caramel complected young man that had begun to crawl into the spot beside her.
“What’s wrong, AJ? It’s too early to have problems.”
“I’m sorry, but I really need your help this time.”
Removing her reading glasses, Tasha turned to Noah and smiled, “Alright, son. Lay it on me.”
“Alright, so boom! Prom is coming up in two weeks and I thought me and Nyah were wearing royal blue but she switched it last minute to green and I gotta get a new suit.”
“Baby, you don’t need a whole new suit. We can just change your blazer color. What shade of green did she choose?”
“There’s different types of green,” he questioned with the priceless etchings of shock making his eyes bulge. “I can’t keep up with these women.”
Tasha laughed at her son’s exasperation as he shook his head and searched the pocket of his sweatpants for his phone. While he scrolled to find an updated picture of his girlfriend’s newest dress, Chadwick emerged from the bathroom with a grin that quickly morphed into a scowl.
“Boy, what have I told you about laying your funky ass on my side of the bed?”
“I don’t even stink, Dad!”
“You don’t stink, yet. One move and we’ll all be in here passed out. Get up!”
Noah allowed Chadwick to push his body to the middle of the bed to make room for the three of them. Tasha allowed her son to rest his head on her shoulder so that she could join him in deciding how he would fix the serious issue of choosing prom attire.
“That’s jade green, honey. We’ll go see about getting you a new blazer after we pick the twins up from soccer practice.”
“Do you have new blazer money, son,” Chadwick asked in the midst of finishing an email.
Noah shrugged and cuddled closer to Tasha. “I mean, I still have some of what you gave me from when the team went to Miami for the league tournament.”
“So I have new blazer money and you don’t. And you’re stealing from me.”
“Aaron, stop it! I’ll get the blazer.”
“You gon’ spoil him, Cookie,” Chadwick warned, shaking his head at the way Noah’s grin spread wide as Tasha placed small kisses on his forehead.
“Oh, like how you spoil Noelle?”
Noah perked up to look at his father who smiled in return. “That’s different. That’s my princess. Well, one of my princesses.”
“Can I be one of your princesses, Pop?”
“No,” Chadwick deadpanned before cutting his eyes at his son. “And get out of my bed. We put an entire bench in here for you to sit your ass on and you still end up in my bed.”
“I think you’re just jealous because mama wants to hug me more than you.”
“Trust me, son, I get way more than hugs when you ain’t around.”
“Okay, that’s enough!”
All eyes shifted to focus on the broad smile and lean frame standing in the doorway as Micah entered the room. Her eyes twinkled at the first glimpse of her father who sat beaming across a few feet away.
Her vintage Howard sweatshirt looked vaguely familiar, a tidbit that Tasha picked up on as her oldest made a beeline for Chadwick.
“Why don’t you ever go home,” Noah grumbled when Micah forced him to scoot over by wiggling her body between his and Chadwick’s to give her favorite person a hug. “We pay all that money for you to live in DC and you’re always here.”
“Shut up, stinky, you don’t pay for nothin’. What did mama use to call you? Stink Man?”
“Don’t do this, Micah,” he mumbled.
“It was Stinka Butt! You been funky since you were born.”
Chadwick voiced his agreeance through the loud boom of his laughter, making Noah sit up to address his older sister.
“Okay, since you wanna cap like I wasn’t your favorite person when we were little, how ‘bout you tell mama about all them sweatshirts you took out of her closet.”
“AJ!”
Micah’s eyes grew wide at her brother’s tattle-telling before Tasha clearing her throat commanded attention.
“You been in my closet, little girl?”
“Daddy said I could! I was gonna ask but he told me to take them!”
“Aaron!”
Despite being caught red-handed, Chadwick began brainstorming ways to charm CoCo out of her anger.
“Queen, you look so good, you didn’t need those old clothes. You need some new shit to put on that beautiful body.”
Tasha pretended to be annoyed as Chadwick placed short, rapid pecks on her cheek until she relented and returned his affection. Exaggerated whispers of displeasure from Micah contrasted Noah’s proud smile and subtle nod to Chadwick.
“That was smooth, Dad. It ain’t how I would’ve done it, but it was alright for an old man.”
“Boy, hush,” Micah guffawed, earning a side eye. “You wish you had that much game.”
“Just because your boyfriends be some lames don’t mean I am. I’m a Boseman, ya feel me!”
Noah didn’t have to look back at Chadwick to know that his father was beaming as they completed their father-son handshake. Though they playfully argued at least once a day, anyone with knowledge of their dynamic knew that there was immense respect and admiration between the two.
Tasha and Micah’s eye rolls synchronized like a choreographed dance before Micah spoke up.
“You have only had one girlfriend your whole life. Nyah doesn’t know any better.”
“Nyah knows that I the best man for her. I’m smart, I look like my mama so, you know I’m handsome, and I puts it down!”
The moment the words left his mouth and Micah’s eyes went wide with realization and amusement, Noah knew that he had become too comfortable. Chadwick cleared his throat, preferring to keep his mouth closed and save himself from his wife’s line of questioning.
“You do what,” Tasha exclaimed as she pinched the soft spot under his arm. “What exactly are you putting down? Are you having sex, son?”
“Sex? What’s that? I am a Christian!” Chadwick cleared his throat again to grab Noah’s attention and shake his head as a warning.
Micah the subliminal message before swooping in to save the day. “Bubba, don’t we need to go to the mall? I gotta go pick up Mama’s birthday gift.”
“Y-yeah! I’ll meet you in the car!” Using the distraction as an opportunity to escape Tasha’s loosened grip, Noah sprang up from his position on the bed and bolted for the bedroom door.
Chadwick chuckled to ease the tension and grabbed his wallet from the nightstand. “Get your brother a new blazer and pick up the twins while you’re out, Boop. Take your time.”
“And buy me a new leotard? Thanks, Daddy! Love you, Mama!”
There was no time to protest before Micah was up and out of the room to do God knows what with her father’s credit card. Chadwick could only hope that they would take it easy on his pockets in exchange for his mission to save them from a verbal lashing.
Reaching over to grab Tasha’s hand, Chadwick set off to begin damage control. He pressed sweet kisses along CoCo’s arm until his lips reached the shell of her ear.
“C’mon, Cookie. I made sure he knows all the risks and how to protect himself.”
“So! I don’t want my baby having sex! And why didn’t he tell me,” CoCo pouted as she leaned over to rest her head on Chadwick’s shoulder.
“Because he still wants you to see him as your baby boy.”
“He is my baby boy. All of the kids are still my babies.”
“I know, sweetheart,” Chadwick smiled. “How about this? Let’s see if we still remember how to make babies. You know I puts it down.”
Chadwick’s attempt at a joke fell flat as Tasha scramble to break free from his hug. Finally giving in, he loosened his grip to watch her slide into her house shoes and stomp out of the room.
“What? Was it something I said? I love you, baby!”

Ahhh! Please write a fic about Carrie singing to Harrison if you have time
Hi, hello hi! I know this ask was sent like 27,000 years ago, and people are waiting for updates on my multi-chapter, but I was able to find some mojo, and needed an unrelated prompt.
Harrison was standing in the doorway to the kitchen, smiling and quietly chuckling to himself at the sight in front of him. Carrie was singing and dancing around the kitchen, working on dinner. He loved hearing her sing, but she didn’t do nearly enough of it around him.
Early on she had told him about the night club shows with her mother starting at a young age, and how Debbie had wanted her to be a singer, but she rebelled in a very Carrie fashion.
Harrison listened as the song changed, and a new one came on. A duet. Harrison smiled as he slowly made his way over to Carrie. She began the female lead vocals as she washed off the vegetables that were going to go in the salad she had been preparing.
Harrison wrapped his arms around her waist, causing Carrie to jump slightly. The melody of the instrumental playing as he placed his face in the crook of her neck, inhaling deeply before singing the male vocals.
Carrie leaned back into his chest as she listened to him sing. The two of them went back and forth singing their respective parts until the song came to an end. As the final chords rang through the kitchen, Carrie closed her eyes and savored the moment.
“Hey baby,” she greeted him before standing on her tiptoes and kissing him.
He pulled away just slightly and smiled. “Hello sweetheart,” he whispered. Harrison leaned back down and kissed her again. The only thing breaking them apart was the sound of the timer on the oven.
Harrison pulled dinner out of the oven while Carrie set the table. After the food was served, the two of them sat down at the table.
As they began to eat, they talked about their day. Harrison talked about how his ADR work was coming, and how excited he was to be finished with the movie. Carrie told Harrison about the newest developments in her book. Mainly the two of them just ate and enjoyed each other’s company.
After dinner was finished, leftovers were put away, and dishes were rinsed, the two of them made their way down the hall to their bedroom to begin their nightly routines.
After stripping down to his boxers, Harrison crawled into bed and watched as Carrie finished up.
“God you are beautiful,” Harrison breathed out, “and you have the voice of an angel when you sing.” He watched the pink crawl up Carrie’s cheeks, like the majority of the time he gave her a compliment.
“Stop it.” she said dismissively.
“Nope, it’s true.” He felt the bed dip as she got in. Harrison wrapped his arms around Carrie, pulling her into him. “Would you sing something for me?” he asked.
“Right now?” She quirked an eyebrow, not believing he was serious.
“Yeah, right now.” His face was expectant, and she knew there was no way of getting out of it.
Carrie sighed. “Any requests.” she asked begrudgingly.
“Whatever your heart wants to sing, my little song bird.” he playfully tapped her nose, and she glared.
She took a moment to think before landing on a song.
Harrison listened as Carrie sang the most beautiful song he had ever heard. While not every note was spot on, it didn’t matter because it was Carrie singing, and to him, whatever she sang sounded like magic.
When she finished, he leaned over so he was mere inches from her face. “Thank you,” he whispered, before closing the gap, kissing her.
The kiss broke apart, and they laid down. It wasn’t long before he realized she was asleep. He stared at her for another fleeting moment before closing his eyes, her song still running through his mind, lulling him to sleep.

Of Course...Mr. Collins
TWENTY-TWO
The plane ride home was exhausting, though otherwise uneventful. An early morning arrival met you and Misha with dark, wet roads and a severe drop in temperature, immediately making you wish you were back on the islands.
At just after four in the morning, you said your goodbyes to Misha and Cliff before falling into bed. While Hawaii had been beautiful, you were happy to be home. With the California convention closing out the season, you wondered what Misha would have you do during the winter break. Wrapping yourself in a nest of blankets, your eyes closed almost immediately after crawling into your four-poster canopy bed.
Plaintive cries of indignation tore you from a dreamless sleep and you woke to find both of your cats pointedly staring at you from atop their position on your stomach. One of them had the good grace to at least offer a rumbling purr at the first sign of your stirring. Your attempts to ignore their demands for food by rolling to the other side of the mattress did little to deter them. Snuffling purrs rolled against the curve of your ear, whiskers tickling the skin with their light touch. “Fine, yes, I’m getting up!” With a heaving groan you stumbled from the soft surface, absentmindedly filling the empty dishes in the kitchen so as to dissuade the complaints of the dependents who wound through your legs.
Dragging the comforter from your room to wrap around your shoulders, you settled into the couch for a day of movie watching. Since your sister was still in Hawaii with Galen, the idea of a quiet day at home was just what you needed. Flipping through several social media platforms and seeing no updates from her surprised you, usually she dominated the websites with non-stop photos. Shrugging it off, your attention turned back to the tv, content with your decision to have a Harry Potter marathon. Musing to yourself, you wondered, was it possible to watch all seven movies in one day?
You were able to make it through the first and most of the second film before dozing off, and the rest of the day was filled with a cycle of sleeping, switching discs and eating. Towards the end of the evening, an Instagram notification appeared on your phone, once again startling you from the light state of unconsciousness you’d drifted in and out of today. A half smile of relief at the beachy sunset quelled the uneasiness that had tried to worm its way into your mind. Watching over your sister had been something you’d tasked yourself with from a young age, and even now that the two of you were adults, it was a hard habit to break.
Early the next morning, you dressed quickly. One perk to having an early-to-rise boss was that often by eight am you’d already been awake for a couple hours. This schedule had almost seamlessly transferred to include your days off. Thanksgiving was a week away and you’d finally be able to not only afford all of the ingredients for a literal feast, but also have people to share your efforts with. A beautiful fall day greeted you as you descended the stairs, stopping a moment to appreciate the crisp chill of the air and the dried leaves that painted the ground in values of crimson, gold and tangerine.
Turning your music up and speeding through scattered leaves had you smiling to yourself when you pulled into the grocery store parking lot a few minutes later. Although it was early, plenty of people were already gathering their groceries for the upcoming holiday. Pointing the key fob over your shoulder and pulling the crimson peacoat more securely around your shoulders, the audible beeping of the car locking echoed around you.
Grabbing your phone from the pocket inside your bag, you unlocked the screen and navigated through the applications until you found the list of ingredients you needed to purchase. Humming contentedly to yourself as the pile of produce and baking components accumulated in the cart, you didn’t notice until too late that you’d bumped into another lady in front of you. As you rushed to apologize, you quickly realized it was your old boss.
The furtive glances and tight-lipped smile she offered created an air of awkwardness as you mumbled an obligatory hello.
“So…[Y/F/N], ho-how have you been?” The light touch of her fingertips on your shoulder made you flinch, though you doubted she had noticed. Her white-knuckled grip on the handles of her basket betrayed her confident demeanor. Taking a deep breath, you considered. How had you been? Fucking fantastic was the answer. And yes, you had been upset when she’d unceremoniously fired you, but without having had that happen, you might never have been given the opportunity to accept what had literally become your dream-job.
“Actually...I’ve been great! I found a new position pretty quickly and I’m so grateful that things worked out how they did. Otherwise, I’d still be struggling to pay my bills and feeling like my career was going nowhere.”
The excitement in your tone was unquestionable, but the look of hurt in the woman’s eyes made it clear that she’d thought you were being frigid.
“Oh! I mean..I was really appreciative of the relationship we’d formed for the years I worked for you, please don’t misunderstand. I’m not trying to be rude, and I realize you could only offer me so much. Really though, you gave me something I didn’t have the courage to do for myself; an out. So, for that, thank you.”
The tentative smile and confidence that swept through you allowed you to fold her into a hug, her bewildered expression delaying her reaction. As she brought her arms up to return the hug, you were already stepping back, guiding your cart around her.
“Happy Holidays!” The lilting tone in your voice settled into the same comfortable humming from earlier as you added the final items from your list to the cart.
Amongst the friendly chatter with the young woman ringing up your groceries, your phone began to ring. The muffled sounds of Louden Swain drifted from the bottom of your bag and you set to work digging through the expansive tote trying to find the device in time to answer it.
“I love Louden Swain, did you go to their concert in Seattle last month?” The bright brown eyes of the cashier lit up, and with them, so did her entire face. “I didn’t get to unfortunately, I had to work - but I was able to see them perform a few days ago in Hawaii, they are fantastic aren’t they?”
Nodding as she finished calculating your order, you lifted the phone to your ear just in time to have the ringing silence itself. Flipping through the caller ID, you realized it was Misha who’d called. Not wanting to be rude, you paid for your purchases and thanked the woman, wishing her a Happy Thanksgiving as you dialed the number to reach your boss.
“Hey Misha, what’s up?”
“Nothing, just some errands.”
As you turned to leave you didn’t notice the look of surprise come over the woman’s face who watched you walk away from her checkstand, bags of groceries gripped tightly in your hand.
As you unloaded the items from the back of your car and carried them up the three flights of stairs to your apartment, your phone rang again. Luckily, this time it started right as you reached the final landing.
“Norman! Wow, I didn’t expect you to call, how are you?!” The excitement in your voice caused you to miss the questioning tone of his voice.
“Why’da think ah wou’na call ya?” “Happy Thanksgivin’ Sunshine!” Laughing, you returned the greeting only to remind him that you still had a week to prepare and not to jinx you. As the two of you discussed your individual holiday plans, the phone beeped against your shoulder just as you set the milk in the door of the refrigerator.
“One sec, that’s my other line.” Switching calls, Misha was there asking you to work for a few hours. Looking around to make sure everything was put away, you scooped some food from the container for your cats and lowered the bowls to the ground. Not knowing how long you were going to be gone, you’d rather know the girls had been fed early than making them wait too long. Promising you’d be there soon, you ended the call as you once again grabbed your keys and shut the door behind you. There hadn’t even been enough time to take off your coat.
As you docked your phone in the car cradle, you quickly realized the second line was on hold; Norman was still waiting. Cursing, you quickly fumbled for the screen as you started the car.
“Sorry, I totally didn’t forget that you were still waiting on me.” Laughter echoed through your car speakers as you turned left out of the parking lot and headed for I-5 North.
“I forgive ya, swee’har, dun worry abou’ it.” Norman kept you company for the drive to Misha’s house, talking about meeting new people in Australia for the wrap-up of season three. A tired sigh filtered through the space around you and you recognized the sound of exhaustion that came with Norman’s voice.
“Hey, just one more week till Thanksgiving, you can stuff yourself silly and nap all day!” The laughter in your voice ebbed away when Norman snorted.
“Nah, gotta work till Wednesday and I’m just hanging out in Georgia for the rest of the week. Gonna be kina quiet, Mingus is spending the week with ‘is mom - so it’s just gonna be me an’ Eye.” A quiet huff punctuated the statement. “Anyhow, ya prolly gettin’ close ta Misha’s place - I’ll talk ta ya later, gotta get back ta work.” After saying your goodbyes, the call ended just as you pulled into Misha’s driveway.
Sitting in the office chair behind his desk, you set to work organizing the newest information for the project that would replace Gishwhes. Although you’d never gotten the chance to participate in the scavenger hunt, the new version sounded just as fun.
“Hey, [Y/F/N], can you call Jensen and ask if they’ll still be in Vancouver next week? I need a headcount for dinner.”
Scribbling the note on a scrap piece of paper so you wouldn’t forget, you grabbed your phone to look up his number.
“Oh! And Rachel is waiting on the final numbers from the Castiel ops we offered last weekend, can you email Creation and have them contact her please?”
The task joined the one on your notepad as you continued to scroll through your now extensive contacts list. The sheer amount of phone numbers you’d received over the last week still surprised you. Muttering to yourself, you ran through the entries,
“Briana, Kim, Jared...there, Jensen.”
A text message from your sister came through just as you were about to call the Ackles'.
‘Hey love, won’t be home for Thanksgiving next week, Galen wants me to stay another few days. Love you.”
As your shoulders dropped at the news, you couldn’t say you weren’t disappointed, but you were happy she was having a good time. Pushing the thought from your mind, you went back to calling Jensen as you opened a blank email and sent the request for a financial report to the convention team.

CaptainSwan Neighbors Au
Hello CS fandom! I made a new list and it’s a long one because there are so many great stories with that trope. It includes stories where our favorite couple are neighbors. Hope you enjoy!
If you are intrested you can find my other lists here.
Multichapter Complete
With Affection, @phiralovesloki
Emma Swan isn't a middle schooler. So why is she receiving notes from a secret admirer? She's also definitely not a romantic person. So why is she writing back? Modern!AU Captain Swan, with side orders of Snowing and Frankenwolf. Updated with second epilogue.
Knock, Knock, @charmingturkeysandwich
Emma Swan has made the best of her crappy apartment ever since she became best friends with her neighbor, Ruby. But when Ruby moves out and a loud Brit takes her place, the thin walls and lack of space are suddenly not so endearing. After a particularly stressful day, Emma decides to confront the nightmare next door, and entirely against her better judgment, she might just be making a friend.
The Pirate Next Door , @the-captains-ayebrows
A handsome stranger moves into the apartment right next to Emma Swan's. Emma isn't ready for romance, but what harm could come of making friends with the charming self-proclaimed "pirate" whose bedroom shares a wall with hers?
Unbreakable, @xemmaloveskillianx
What if Hook was able to go with Emma and Henry when they left to escape Pan’s curse? With no memory of each other or Storybrooke, Emma and Killian meet in New York as complete strangers, both with broken pasts, and both with clean slates for their future.
Sign of Attraction, @hooklineandswan
Some day she was going to find a way to kill him without leaving a trace. Hopefully it would happen before he drove her insane.
In the Name of the Brother, @tnlph
Killian Jones not only finds out about his father's death, but about the brother he never knew he had. Rather than let another Jones boy grow up without a father, Killian takes the boy into his life. He'll do all he can to be the man for his younger brother that his older brother had been for him.
Lend me some sugar, I am your neighbor, @kittennharington
Killian and Emma knew each other in middle school before she was taken away to a new foster home. They meet each other again years later as neighbors in an apartment complex. Contains smut.
Can You Feel it Right Now?, @cutieodonoghue
When Emma Swan agrees to let her annoying neighbor Killian Jones join her to go to the grocery store, the last thing she could have ever anticipated is becoming his wife over the course of a conversation with some people from his past.
Some Sort of Neighborly, @shipping-goggles
They're not neighbors, not exactly, and they're not friends either. It's pretty hard to find reasons to bump into the woman who lives next door to your best friend, especially after your only interaction with her has been waking up on her couch one Saturday morning. Sequel to Rude Awakening.
Look What the Cat Dragged In, @athenascarlet
There are only a couple things Killian Jones knows about his neighbor, Emma Swan. She's a bail bonds person and she's attractive. Also, she apparently has a cat. And he apparently is now her cat sitter.
The Reason, @xemmaloveskillianx
he three of them share a laugh before they all look to Emma. She has yet to comment on the new addition because she isn’t sure what to say. She usually doesn’t like change, they have a good thing going there, just the four of them. Plus, they all know him and she doesn’t, but she trusts their judgement, and she’s sure any brother of Liam can’t be all that bad.
So, with a shrug and a smile she says, “Welcome to Storybrooke, Killian Jones.”
Make Some Noise, @fyeahcaptn
Emma doesn't hate her neighbour per say, she barely knows him. Killian Jones an irritating, insufferable ass who's far too cocky and confident for his own good but seriously, would it hurt him to keep the shower to a normal time like an actual human being? Before she kills him. Modern!AU.
Pay It Forward, @acrobat-elle
Breaking your ankle is one thing. Breaking your ankle three days after you moved into a fifth-floor walkup is something else entirely.
Wip
A Helping Hand, @hookedonapirate
My girlfriend just dumped me and I've gotten piss drunk and somehow managed to get into your apartment instead of my own. I'm trying to masturbate my feelings away and boy were you surprised.
Breaking the Hinges, @piratesails
When Killian Jones decides to spend his night off relaxing in his apartment, the last thing he expects is a beautiful blonde woman bursting through his front door.
Neighborly Affection, @hookslovelyswan
Emma Swan's new neighbor, Killian Jones, is the talk of the neighborhood, and living next door to him is almost more than she can stand, especially since the man doesn't seem to own a shirt! But the tug she feels toward him is inexorable, and the genuine feelings that develop between them...quite unexpected.
One-shot
Transatlanticism, @mahstatins
Emma Swan went to Britain looking for family. It should have been a Hallmark movie, a Christmas miracle waiting to happen. Instead she’s stuck in a grimy London ‘flat’, with the worst next door neighbor in the world.
Well, maybe not the worst.
What a Year (for a New Year), @high-seas-swan
Killian Jones, Boston Bruins right winger, needs a break from the questions and concerns over his career-threatening injury. He thought Storybrooke would be the perfect place to escape to. What he didn't expect was Emma Swan, her kid and a holiday season he never knew he needed.
Subtle and Nuanced, @phiralovesloki
Killian Jones has an unusual relationship with a neighbor in which they exchange notes via cat. He’s also slowly falling for his flower shop’s newest customer. Surely these two things are unrelated.
Tim Finnegan's Wake, @icecubelotr44
"You live in the apartment next to mine and you're always blasting music while I'm trying to sleep but you've been silent for the last two days, are you all right?"
Emma Swan never minded the music. Not until she broke her ankle and her shift moved to days. Now she just wants to sleep. But Killian Jones doesn't seem to notice. So when the condo next door goes silent, she's understandably concerned. When she finds Killian after he got the phone call about his brother he never expected, they'll have to figure out if everything is as it seems.
Smoke and Mirrors, @lifeinahole27
I was burning scented candles and fell asleep. You’re my neighbour who bashed the door down when my smoke alarm went off.
The Perils of Firemen and the Food Network, @shireness-says
Emma Swan is not a cook. But maybe, with the help of her upstairs neighbor, she could be - if her feelings don't get in the way.
Keep On Fallin' , @resident-of-storybrooke
Emma Swan may be a successful bail bondsperson, but when it comes to her love life not so much. After several failed blind dates Emma is ready to give up, but Mary Margaret convinces her to give it one more shot. Is Mr. One Shot going to be the one? Or is she willing to risk taking a chance with her blue eyed gorgeous neighbor?
For the Story, nothandlingit
If there's one thing Killian Jones is ruthlessly stubborn on, it's not letting Emma Swan know how many coffee/hot chocolate/bear claw combinations he's had to gift on to unsuspecting strangers when she doesn't show up at the little bakery near their apartment building. Turns out accidentally running into each other costs some money. A CS AU week submission - beloved tropes.
The Worst/Best Christmas Ever, @captainhookcaptainfreedom
When their flight home is cancelled, Emma is convinced that she and Henry are going to have the worst Christmas ever. However, their next door neighbor, Killian Jones, has different ideas.
That Guy Next Door, @a-fictional-life
M-rated AU one shot just cos it’s Saturday…
You Make Me Better, @ilovemesomekillianjones
CS Neighbors AU where Emma is a nurse and Killian is her definitely-faking-it hypochondriac neighbor who uses illnesses and injuries as an excuse to talk to her.
walking the high line, @losttalongthewayy
Captain Swan NYC neighbors AU – It’s Emma Swan’s 28th birthday and she finds herself stuck helping her upstairs neighbor —the very one she’s sure she hates.
seven for all mankind, @arexnna
“we’re neighbours and we do everything together and spend all our time together and that’s normal, but someone pointed out how we’re essentially dating, but we aren’t, are we?”
Postcards and Shower Songs, @nightships
Emma often finds herself wondering whether it's possible to hate a stranger. Despite never having met or seen him before in her life, she knows exactly two things about Mr. K. Jones — he gets a ton of mail from all over the world and he plays extremely loud music when he wakes up in the morning.
Too Hot (Hot Damn), @this-too-too-sullied-flesh
Emma just doesn’t know what’s hotter--the weather and the fact that the air conditioning is out in her building, or her neighbor.
The Savior's Spatula, @imhookedonaswan
Killian Jones hears his neighbor Emma screaming from her apartment, being the gentleman he is he grabs the first thing he can find to go try to save her.
how not to meet your neighbor…, @startswithhope
Here’s a bit of modern AU nonsense, starring Killian and Emma…
The Sabbatical (or how Emma Swan brought Valentine’s Day back), @lenfaz
Killian Jones abhors his neighbors. He really does.
Two-Shots
The Favor, @madjm
AU. Emma Swan doesn't do relationships, but her annoyingly attractive neighbor, Killian Jones, might change her views. Captain Swan. Previously on ffnet.
The Not So Neighborly Noise, @optomisticgirl
After an exhausting day, one which started with her annoying neighbor waking her up with his singing, all Emma Swan wanted to do was sleep. Little did she know when she crawled into bed that night that everything she thought she knew was going to shift dramatically. Can a closed off woman give a man a chance to prove her wrong?
Ten Minutes, @hookedonapirate
“The game's simple, really. In fact you, my love, don’t have to do a thing,” he ends with a click of his tongue, his silky accent sending shivers down her spine.
“Don’t call me that,” Emma warns him, but honestly her heart is thumping and her interest is highly piqued, “but please do go on.”
“It’s called Ten Minutes. You give me ten minutes to do anything I want to you—touching, teasing, kissing, biting, whatever I want. You so much as moan or make any sound of pleasure, you lose.”
Emma bites her lip at the idea of him doing all those things to her and feels heat creeping into her cheeks. “And if I win? What do I get out of this?”
“If you win, I will never bother you again.”
A grin spreads across her lips. “Okay, you totally made this game up, but sure, I’ll play along,” she decides confidently. She has no doubt she’ll win, so why not? Emma sits up and places the bottle on the floor, glancing over at him again. “You’re on, Jones.”
We Can Feel So Far (From So Close), @once-uponacaptain
Waiting until your best friend left for a cross country tour was a fine time to realize you're in love with him. Captain Swan.
Stray Hearts, @piratesails
He’s insufferable, and nothing, not even the fact that he’s laughing with childlike glee as he cuddles a litter of stray kittens, will change Emma’s mind about Killian Jones. Or, that’s what she thought, anyway.
Three-Shots
Please, Please, Say You Feel it Too, @cutieodonoghue
modern au; Emma pawns her son off to her neighbor Killian. Romance ensues. (Daddy!Killian feels abound!)
Spider Slayer, @startswithhope
"This is totally awkward considering before this the only interactions we've ever had have been casual nods to each other in the hallway but there's a huge fucking spider in my bath tub and you seem like the friendly neighbor type please help me."
