Any HC's on what's going on with Luna?
Hi, so I really like Luna as a character, and I've seen various theories about her being a seer, which at least used to be popular in fic, but I never got that impression from her. Personally, I don't think there's anything magical going on with Luna. I think she's just a girl with imagination, a sense of whimsy, and some trauma of her own who chose to handle it through her internal little world rather than anger and other more externalized ways to cope.
So, this kinda ended up being a bit of a character study on Luna...
Pandora Lovegood & Luna's Trauma
One of the major moments in Luna's life that really changed her worldview and approach to people and the world was her mother's death:
“Have you . . .” he began. “I mean, who . . . has anyone you’ve known ever died?” “Yes,” said Luna simply, “my mother. She was a quite extraordinary witch, you know, but she did like to experiment and one of her spells went rather badly wrong one day. I was nine.” “I’m sorry,” Harry mumbled. “Yes, it was rather horrible,” said Luna conversationally. “I still feel very sad about it sometimes. But I’ve still got Dad. And anyway, it’s not as though I’ll never see Mum again, is it?” “Er — isn’t it?” said Harry uncertainly. She shook her head in disbelief. “Oh, come on. You heard them, just behind the veil, didn’t you?” “You mean . . .” “In that room with the archway. They were just lurking out of sight, that’s all. You heard them.”
(OotP, 863)
I want to talk about her mother, her death, and Luna's general outlook on death and tragedy which explains a lot of her characters.
So Pandora Lovegood experimented with spells and one went badly enough to kill her in front of her 9-year-old daughter. This is why Luna can see Thestrals and hear voices from beyond the veil like Harry and Neville. But Luna, at her soul is an optimist and a very brave one at that. This is something that she doesn't share with her father, which I'd get to, so I think her outlook on life and death is actually something she learned from her mother.
Luna prefers to look at the half-full part of the glass. She is choosing not to get too sad over things or bothered over her bullying (which I'll get to). The main point is that Luna's way of dealing with the hardship and trauma of watching her mother die is to feel the sadness of it, but not let herself wallow in it. She keeps pushing herself forward.
I headcanon Luna took her mother's death to embrace her mother's outlook on life. That things will always be fine, that they'd always work out. I don't think Luna knows for certain everything will be fine, but she chooses to believe it will be and you see it with her later in the books as well.
“I was saying, what are those horse things?” Harry said, as he, Ron, and Luna made for the carriage in which Hermione and Ginny were already sitting. [...] “It’s all right,” said a dreamy voice from beside Harry as Ron vanished into the coach’s dark interior. “You’re not going mad or anything. I can see them too.” “Can you?” said Harry desperately, turning to Luna. He could see the bat-winged horses reflected in her wide, silvery eyes. “Oh yes,” said Luna, “I’ve been able to see them ever since my first day here. They’ve always pulled the carriages. Don’t worry. You’re just as sane as I am.” Smiling faintly, she climbed into the musty interior of the carriage after Ron. Not altogether reassured, Harry followed her.
(OotP, 198-199)
Again, this shows her way of dealing with death and loss that ended up helping Harry. She sees the Thestrals and instead of being discomforted by them and the loss they remind her of (like Neville and Theodore Nott), she tries to smile, to take comfort in the reminder of her mother. "It's sad that she's dead, but it's okay, things will be okay", it's not a direct quote, but I feel it summarises Luna's outlook on loss and negative life experiences in general.
Xenophilius and the Quibbler
As I mentioned above, Xenophilius is much less brave and optimistic than Luna, hence why I think she learned her positive outlook from Pandora and not him:
Xenophilius gulped. He seemed to be steeling himself. Finally, he said in a shaky voice difficult to hear over the noise of the printing press, “Luna is down at the stream, fishing for Freshwater Plimpies. She . . . she will like to see you. I’ll go and call her and then—very well. I shall try to help you.” He disappeared down the spiral staircase and they heard the front door open and close. They looked at each other. “Cowardly old wart,” said Ron. “Luna’s got ten times his guts.”
(DH, 347)
I understand him, I really do. He lost his wife, and his daughter is all he has, of course, he's scared of helping Harry. He doesn't want to lose Luna too. But, I headcanon Pandora was like Luna in that regard. She wouldn't have let fear stop her. I mean, she had to be brave to experiment with the kind of dangerous spells that'll kill her.
The other thing I want to note about Xenophilius and Luna is how close they seem to be whenever we see them:
Bidding the wizards farewell, he turned to his daughter, who held up her finger and said, “Daddy, look—one of the gnomes actually bit me!” “How wonderful! Gnome saliva is enormously beneficial!” said Mr. Lovegood, seizing Luna’s outstretched finger and examining the bleeding puncture marks. “Luna, my love, if you should feel any burgeoning talent today—perhaps an unexpected urge to sing opera or to declaim in Mermish—do not repress it! You may have been gifted by the Gernumblies!”
(DH, 124)
They seem very affectionate and close, both with words and I'm sure also physical affection. Luna even mentions she still has her dad when she explains how she handles her mother's loss. I think both of them grew closer and more dependent on each other after Pandora's death. And I think that's what really pulled them both through it. Each other.
I write about it more later in this post, but Luna tends to comfort a lot of characters. Hermione, Ollivanders, Harry, and I think the first person she practiced this with was her father. She is a very empathetic person and she watched loss affect her father first-hand. I think, that after they lost Pandora, Luna did more of the heavy lifting in terms of emotional comfort rather than Xenophilius, who was probably a bit of a wreck.
Now, the third major thing I think Luna learned from her father is his various odd beliefs. To name a few Quibbler article titles from the beginning of OotP:
How Far Will Fudge Go to Gain Gringotts?
CORRUPTION IN THE QUIDDITCH LEAGUE: How the Tornados Are Taking Control
SIRIUS - Black As He’s Painted? Notorious Mass Murderer OR Innocent Singing Sensation?
We all know they have some odd ideas, and are both very convinced of them. Luna never strays in her belief in the things her father writes about:
Yes, he’s got an army of heliopaths,” said Luna solemnly. “No, he hasn’t,” snapped Hermione. “Yes, he has,” said Luna. “What are heliopaths?” asked Neville, looking blank. “They’re spirits of fire,” said Luna, her protuberant eyes widening so that she looked madder than ever. “Great tall flaming creatures that gallop across the ground burning everything in front of —” “They don’t exist, Neville,” said Hermione tartly. “Oh yes they do!” said Luna angrily. “I’m sorry, but where’s the proof of that?” snapped Hermione. “There are plenty of eyewitness accounts, just because you’re so narrow-minded you need to have everything shoved under your nose before you —”
(OotP, 345)
She actually shows a dislike and anger toward Hermione at first because of how Hermione treats the things she believes in. Luna doesn't get angry often, but when her beliefs are ridiculed in the way Hermione does so, is one of these few times. She doesn't mind being called "Loony", but she cares about her, and her father's beliefs are aggressively questioned. She wouldn't have minded it if Hermione just didn't believe her (like Ron and Ginny) what bothers her is that Hermione doesn't even entertain the possibility of these creatures being real. What angers her is Hermione's closed-mindedness, not that she doesn't agree with her. Luna doesn't mind being alone in her beliefs, she minds closed-minded people who think they know everything, that's what gets her annoyed with Hermione, I think.
Now, I kind of want to discuss why Luna and Xenehpilius believe what they believe. Well, more Xenephilius than Luna, because he taught her most of it and gave her all the evidence she is basing her understanding of all these creatures and conspiracies come from.
Because that's what a lot of these are — conspiracies — and mostly about the Ministry of Magic. These article titles are somewhat like farfetched conspiracy theories like: "NASA hiding a second sun at the center of the Earth" or "Did you know the Earth is actually flat but the government doesn't want you to know" or anything to do with Area 51 and aliens. The articles from the Quibbler sound awfully a lot like that. And it seemed the main reason Xenophilius and Luna believed Harry was because the ministry didn't.
Xenophilius and Luna also believe in miracle cures like gnome venom (as quoted earlier), Gurdyroots and Plumpies:
“May I offer you all an infusion of Gurdyroots?” said Xenophilius. “We make it ourselves.” As he started to pour out the drink, which was a deep purple as beetroot juice, he added, “Luna is down beyond Bottom Bridge, she is most excited that you are here. She ought not be too long, she has caught nearly enough Plumpies to make soup for all of us. Do sit down and help yourselves to sugar.
(DS, 348)
They are essentially wizard conspiracy theorist hippies.
Basically, Xenophilius and Luna distrust the ministry (rightfully so, as the ministry sucks) but they took their distrust to the extreme. Essentially believing any information from the ministry, or ministry-sanctioned textbooks and newspapers to be false (some of it definitely is false, but not all). If it comes from the ministry it's false in their eyes and therefore everything the ministry doesn't live in is true, even if it doesn't make sense. So what I think is going on with the Lovegoods, and what they are supposed to be, is just conspiracy theorists, who rightfully distrust their government, but took this distrust too far beyond common sense. It doesn't mean all they belive is false, they are actually correct often enough, but not always.
Now, I think, as I said, they have a good reason to distrust the ministry, they just took it a bit far. I actually have a bit of a headcanon about how Xenophilius came to the conclusion that they can't trust ministry.
My headcanon is that it has to do with Pandora's death. We don't really have any indication that Xenophilius believed in everything he did before her death. Neither do we know how exactly the spell killed Pandora. I think the ministry either hid information about Pandora's condition, used some spells she created in their books without giving her credit, or the ministry never sanctioned her spells (we know the ministry does approve spells, Hermione mentions as much in HBP). I'm not sure what exactly went with the ministry, but I headcanon Xenophilius has a personal reason related to Pandora to distrust them.
Loony Luna
We know Luna gets bullied. Her belongings get stolen, other students call her "Loony". And it isn't surprising she gets bullied. children are mean to anyone who is weird and different and Hogwarts has no anti-bullying measures. Literally none, the faculty doesn't care.
What is more interesting is Luna's outlook on her own bullying. It's the same optimistic acceptance of how she treats death.
“How come you’re not at the feast?” Harry asked. “Well, I’ve lost most of my possessions,” said Luna serenely. “People take them and hide them, you know. But as it’s the last night, I really do need them back, so I’ve been putting up signs.” She gestured toward the notice board, upon which, sure enough, she had pinned a list of all her missing books and clothes, with a plea for their return. An odd feeling rose in Harry — an emotion quite different from the anger and grief that had filled him since Sirius’s death. It was a few moments before he realized that he was feeling sorry for Luna. “How come people hide your stuff?” he asked her, frowning. “Oh . . . well . . .” She shrugged. “I think they think I’m a bit odd, you know. Some people call me ‘Loony’ Lovegood, actually.” Harry looked at her and the new feeling of pity intensified rather painfully. “That’s no reason for them to take your things,” he said flatly. “D’you want help finding them?” “Oh no,” she said, smiling at him. “They’ll come back, they always do in the end. It was just that I wanted to pack tonight. Anyway . . . why aren’t you at the feast?”
(OotP, 862-863)
Other Ravenclaws steal her things and hide them, they call her "Loony" and at no point is Luna angry or scared. She is calm and serene and she declines Harry's help because she believes it will all work out. It's the same outlook on death and sadness: "Everything will be fine, just keep your chin up and believe things will be good" That just really seems to be Luna's life philosophy. She faces every problem with optimism and serenity.
Instead of being concerned over her own situation, she actually goes a step further and ask how Harry is doing. Luna goes out of her way to brighten up other people's lives and help them see the good in situations like she can. She is really sweet.
“I enjoyed the meetings too,” said Luna serenely. “It was like having friends.” This was one of those uncomfortable things Luna often said and which made Harry feel a squirming mixture of pity and embarrassment.
(HBP, 138)
“Oh, it’s been all right,” said Luna. “A bit lonely without the D.A. Ginny’s been nice, though. She stopped two boys in our Transfiguration class calling me ‘Loony’ the other day —”
(HBP, 311)
These are two more examples of Luna's being bullied. She is lonely and didn't really have friends before the D.A. But just like with her missing things, while it makes her sad, she doesn't wallow in it. She looks at the good parts. The happy memories, the fact that Ginny defends her now. Honestly, it's a healthier coping mechanism than what we see with other characters, I'll give her that.
The other interesting note is how honest she is with all of it. She always says things exactly how she believes they are. She doesn't lie or hide information from people, even for their own comfort. I think this has to do with the distrust in the ministry her father and her share.
Essentially, she was raised being told how awful the ministry is for lying to everyone and how it's horrible they hide information from the wizarding world. I think this is part of why she is so honest and straightforward. She really sees hiding information and lying as awful things to do. And, I mean, she's a Ravenclaw for a reason, she likely believes information should be accessible to know and learn, not hidden in the bawls of the ministry. It's all part of her honesty.
Luna's Empathy
Luna is one of the more empathetic characters in the books. I mentioned before how she goes out of her way to encourage and comfort others, and here are some examples I picked up:
“Are you sure you don’t want me to help you look for your stuff?” he said. “Oh no,” said Luna. “No, I think I’ll just go down and have some pudding and wait for it all to turn up. . . . It always does in the end. . . . Well, have a nice holiday, Harry.” “Yeah . . . yeah, you too.” She walked away from him, and as he watched her go, he found that the terrible weight in his stomach seemed to have lessened slightly.
(OotP, 864)
Luna is the first person to make Harry feel better after Sirius' death, to tell him life goes on and actually convince him of it. She can empathize with people really weel and tell them what they need to hear.
He finally tracked her [Hermione] down as she emerged from a girls’ bathroom on the floor below. She was accompanied by Luna Lovegood, who was patting her vaguely on the back. “Oh, hello, Harry,” said Luna. “Did you know one of your eyebrows is bright yellow?” “Hi, Luna. Hermione, you left your stuff. . . .” He held out her books. “Oh yes,” said Hermione in a choked voice, taking her things and turning away quickly to hide the fact that she was wiping her eyes on her pencil case. “Thank you, Harry. Well, I’d better get going. . . .” And she hurried off, without giving Harry any time to offer words of comfort, though admittedly he could not think of any. “She’s a bit upset,” said Luna. “I thought at first it was Moaning Myrtle in there, but it turned out to be Hermione. She said something about that Ron Weasley. . . .”
(HBP, 310)
Even with Hermione, whom Luna tends to argue with most due to Hermione appearing closed-minded to Luna, when Luna hears crying her first instinct is to go help. And she actually seemed to have made Hermione feel better, she found the right things to say.
Her mention of Moaning Myrtle makes it sound like Luna knows the ghost well. My headcanon is that in Luna's first years, when she was lonely and had no friends, she sat and chatted with Myrtle, and they had a cute little lonely friendship.
“That’s right,” said Luna encouragingly, as if they were back in the Room of Requirement and this was simply spell practice for the D.A., “That’s right, Harry. . . come on think of something happy. . . .” “Something happy?” he said, his voice cracked. “We’re all still here,” she whispered, “we’re still fighting. Come on, now. . . .”
(DS, 548)
Encouraging Harry to cast a Patronus when they need one.
“I’m going to miss you, Mr. Ollivander,” said Luna, approaching the old man. “And I you, my dear,” said Ollivander, patting her on the shoulder. “You were an inexpressible comfort to me in that terrible place.”
(DH, 437)
And even comforting Ollivanders.
Luna just brings comfort to everyone she meets. Knowing what to say to make them feel better.
About her supposed seer-like abilities
As I said, I don't think Luna is a seer or anything like that. I think she's intelligent, open-minded, incredibly empathetic, has some extreme distrust in the ministry, and has an overall life philosophy of looking at the full half of the cup.
When I searched for scenes that had "extra-magical" potential I found only two:
The girl beside the window looked up. She had straggly, waist-length, dirty-blond hair, very pale eyebrows, and protuberant eyes that gave her a permanently surprised look. Harry knew at once why Neville had chosen to pass this compartment by. The girl gave off an aura of distinct dottiness. Perhaps it was the fact that she had stuck her wand behind her left ear for safekeeping, or that she had chosen to wear a necklace of butterbeer caps, or that she was reading a magazine upside down. Her eyes ranged over Neville and came to rest on Harry. She nodded. [...] The girl called Luna watched them over her upside-down magazine, which was called The Quibbler. She did not seem to need to blink as much as normal humans. She stared and stared at Harry, who had taken the seat opposite her and now wished he had not.
(OotP, 185)
I think this is more Luna being awkward because she never had friends more than anything. I think she is just honestly shocked and confused that Harry and Co. want to sit with her; of like, their free will, and not just to say mean things.
As much as Luna holds her head high, she is hurt by her bullies and loneliness, she just chooses to not internalize any of it and never stop to be herself. Honestly I really appreciate this aspect of Luna, I adore her ability to stay afloat.
The second scene:
He led a party of warlocks into the marquee as Luna rushed up. “Hello, Harry!” she said. “Er—my name’s Barny,” said Harry, flummoxed. “Oh, have you changed that too?” she asked brightly. “How did you know—?” “Oh, just your expression,” she said.
(DH, 123)
I don't think this is being a "seer" or anything like that. I believe this is an extension of Luna's intense empathy. She says she recognises Harry's expression. Also, she's smart and he acts around Ron the way he always does, Luna would be able to recognize it...
So, yeah, these are my thoughts about Luna.

Snape & Neville
Many people believe Snape is very nasty towards Neville because Neville could have been the Chosen One or because his parents were aurors, but I don’t agree with those headcanons.
Neville is a traumatised boy. His parents were tortured so badly that they lost their minds. He’s grown up without them with a very strict grandmother as his guardian. His family is an old pureblood family and while they are against the pureblood ideology, they still expect a lot from their heirs. Neville’s parents’ fate most likely only increases pressure put upon him. Neville’s uncle almost killed him to squize some magic out of him, as if saying that it’s better to be dead than a Squib. Neville got his father’s wand instead of the one that chose him, as if being told that he had to be like his father, even if he’s just a sad, scared child.
All that turns Neville into a soft version of Obscurial. He doesn’t fully control his magic. We see it especially during the Potions lessons. At the very first lesson Neville somehow turns his potion into a very corrosive substance that melts his couldron and forces his classmates to climb on their desks. Later in the fourth year we hear that he melted six couldrons during about three months. Neville believes himself to be almost a Squib, but he’s very powerful. All the other students who don’t always succeed in Potions only manage to make some too watery or too thick fluid of the wrong colour that simply doesn’t work, doesn’t do anything.
I can imagine Snape having nightmares about Neville with a melting couldron, surrounded by poisonous fumes, killing Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy and all the other students, because Snape hasn’t managed to make him understand. Those lessons must be terrible for him. In this class there’s Harry Potter who looks like his father that used to bullied Snape, who is disobedient and inattentive, and whose presence reminds Snape of his enormous guilt. There’s also Draco Malfoy who tells his family everything and who has to believe Snape is on his side like a good Death Eater, so that in the future his influencial father can be his witness before Voldemort. There’re also Crabbe and Goyle—also sons of Death Eaters. It’s already very stressful and then there’s Neville with his dangerous potions that can kill everybody in a minute.
Snape doesn’t know how to deal with someone like Neville. Snape has no pedagogical education, no experience. He learnt how to teach by imitating his own teachers who finished school in the first half of the 20th century or even in the 19th century. About a decade before Snape started teaching, physical violence was still allowed as a punishment at Hogwarts.
It’s worth noting that Snape doesn’t take points from Neville and he only gives him one detention after he melted six couldrons.
So what Snape does to Neville is deeply wrong and very misguided but it’s just an attempt to teach him Potions. It doesn’t stem from malice or personal revenge.
And we know it, because when Snape begins to teach DADA—after Neville was encouraged by Lupin, after he learnt much in the Dumbledore’s Army, after he fought in the Ministry, after he got his own wand, after he gained a lot of confidence in his magical abilities—Snape doesn’t bully Neville. It proves that it was a matter of Neville’s performance at Potions, nothing more.

Preference: How They React to You Having the Dark Mark (HP Boys)
Harry: harry would be in utter shock, not quite sure how to react. Your eyes were all red and puffy. You were forced to do this, you didn't have a choice. But you said that already and didn't want to keep repeating yourself in hopes this isn't reality, in hopes that this is just a very messed up dream. "I'm - I - I'm so sorry..." You kept quietly uttering Tears kept falling from your cheeks to the floor. Your head still hanging low, not wanting to look him in the eyes. You heard him about to say something, but then stop. There was a moment of silence, a moment that seemed to go on for years in your head. Suddenly, the door opens and slams shut. You roll down your sleeve as you fall to the floor, tears falling faster than ever as you silently sob in your room...alone.
Ron: You were sitting on Ron's bed, tears streaming down your face. Ron was angrily pacing the room back and forth, clearly wanting to say something, but not knowing what to say or how to phrase it. Your hand was clutching your arm, as you silently sobbed. "I don't- I- I..." Ron tried to mutter out. He grew frustrated and threw some books across the room. Once those books fell and left a thick silence, you pulled your sleeve down, wiped your tears and pushed right past Ron and left the room. You couldn't be around him like this. He needed time and both of you knew that.
Draco: Draco had just admitted to you that he had the Dark Mark. He was so scared that you were going to leave him but he couldn't hold it in anymore. This wasn't fair that you didn't know. For a while, there was silence where both of you had silent tears hitting the ground. You couldn't hold it in much longer. "Draco..." You uttered before holding your breath and lifting up your sleeve. He looked at you arm and then into your eyes in utter disbelief. He ran and embraced you and you let out the breath you were holding. "They made me do it, they held me down." You said in between sobs. Draco embraced you tighter, "They promised they wouldn't touch you if I complied... I'm so sorry my love." He said, also in between sobs.
George: As soon as you told George, he immediately left. You sunk to the ground by the edge of the Black Lake. You hated this but you weren't given the choice, you had no choice in this. You were sobbing for what seemed like hours, crying to the point where tears could no longer be produced. This hurt more, hurting George hurt more than anything you've ever experienced. You did this so he wouldn't be targeted more than he was. You had to tell him eventually, you knew that. You didn't expect this reaction, but you also didn't know how he would react. You were crying at the lake as long as you could still see the sun. Once the sun was setting, you got up and wiped your tears, and headed back to the castle.
Fred: You were standing by the window, looking out as tears streamed down your swollen face. Fred was sitting in his desk chair, a contemplative look on his face, folded hands, and his left leg bouncing. Neither of you knew what to do at this point. You hoped that whatever he was thinking, he knew you would never make that choice unless you were forced to. You heard the leg stop bouncing and him getting up. You were sure he was going to leave and your head fell down and you sobbed. Suddenly, you feel arms wrap around you from the side. He rested his forehead on your temple, "I know this wasn't your choice. We'll figure this out...I know we will...We always have." He said as he placed a kiss to your temple.
Neville: As soon as he saw your arm, his face dropped. You quickly put your sleeve back down and looked away, not wanting to see what Neville could be thinking. You know what they did to his parents, but you had no choice. If you didn't do this, they were going to target him and you couldn't let that happen. "Why?" Neville asked, starting to choke on that simple question, not wanting to cry. "I didn't have a choice. They wanted to kill you, they wanted you dead... They said if I went through with it... you wouldn't be a target..." You said as you finally let tears start to fall from your burning eyes. Silence was filled with a few tears hitting the ground every so often, not in any particular pattern. Neither of you knew what to do, so you two just stared and tried to figure out where to go from here in your own heads.
Oliver: "How could you do this to me..to us?!" Oliver screamed and he paced back and forth in the changing room. "This isn't about you Oliver! Well, it is, but not the way you think!" You screamed back. But this wasn't the same type of scream, this was a scream for understanding. "Then what was it for? Explain!" He screamed back. Tears fell, and started to fall harder and harder, "They wanted to kill you Oli. They wanted you dead. I did this so they wouldn't kill you...so I wouldn't lose you...that way!" You screamed back with so much emotion as you pointed to your mark, "I couldn't live with myself if I let that happen." You said has you just fell to the ground, sobbing. Olivers face went from anger, to pain. He wasn't expecting that answer. He sat on the bench, trying not to let tears fall. He couldn't even fathom the thought of you doing *that* for him. He was hurt, because he made the situation burst like this.
Cedric: You told him, you blurted it out. You couldn't hold it in any longer, you had to tell him. Cedric was already being targeted, your parents said that if you agreed he would no longer be targeted. Your father had no mercy, but your mother did. "If I didn't do this, they were going to kill you. I couldn't let that happen..." You said as you suddenly broke down in tears. Cedric took it all in as he rubbed your back, comforting you like he always had before. "I didn't want to do it..." "I didn't want to do it..." "I didn't want to do it..." You kept repeating through sobs. Cedric moved your head so he could look you in the eyes, "I know you wouldn't do this if you didn't have to. I don't love you any less. We'll get through this." He said as he wiped the tears off your cheeks. You threw yourself to him in the biggest embrace you've ever given him. You didn't think you deserved this unconditional love.
Seamus: He didn't say anything, but actions always speak louder than words. Seamus threw a few things around the room, he looked at you, wanted to say something but just left the room and slammed the door behind him. You lost it. You started to sob, you let it all out. After what seemed like hours, you decided that crying wouldn't solve anything else at this point. You dried your tears and headed towards Hogsmeade. You decided that you needed some alone time in a comforting spot to think wisely.  You headed over to Madam Puddifoot's tea shop and ordered just a simple black Earl Grey. You sat by yourself, trying to think of what to do next but you were too distracted by all the happy couples going on dates.
Dean: He just stood there, in complete and utter silence. He didn't know how to react, how to feel...he just didn't know. You didn't blame him. You didn't wan this to happen, but it did and you couldn't run away from it anymore. You were on the couch of the common room, just staring, you didn't know what else to do. "I don't expect this..uhm...us to ever be normal. I just want you to know that this wasn't a choice, I was forced. It may not change how or what you're feeling... I understand that. I would understand if you didn't want to be with me, I would completely understand..." You said, still staring, not knowing what to do. Dean snapped out of his trance and sat next to you, he took your hands, "We'll figure this out...together. Being rash in a time like this won't do either of us any good." He said. You placed your head on his shoulder, he placed his head atop yours.
Marcus: He didn't how to feel, mainly because he couldn't tell how you felt. You blurted it out and just stared at the fireplace. "Uhmmm... Should I say congratulations? Or are you sad? I- I don't know what do. I don't know how you feel." He said as he sat right next to you. You turned to him and had tears streaming down your swollen cheeks, a little annoyed at his response. "I take it that this is not a good thing. Alright," He said as he brought you in for a big embrace, "We'll get through this baby. I swear we will. I promise." He said as he placed a kiss on the top of your head and rubbed your back as you held him tight, relieved that he still loves you unconditionally.
Percy: His reaction was your worst nightmare. What he said has been playing in your head for hours. "We're done." He said as he left the room. That scene played through you until you heard your stomach grumble. You wiped the tears off your face and walked to the dining hall to have dinner. As you walked in, all eyes went to you and you just walked with a heavy foot to your place at the Slytherin table next to Draco. You eyed Percy, who had had his eyes fixated on you. "How did he react?" Draco asked in a whisper. Your lips quivered and you clenched your jaw, "We're done. It's over." Draco's face got red and he stood up angrily, you pulled him down harshly, "No." You said sternly, still looking at Percy, who looked away.
Viktor: He embraced you, not caring that you were trying to push him away. "Why do you still want me? I'm disgusting, I'm-" You started saying before he cut you off, "You're not like this. I know you so well. This isn't you. I'm going to stay by your side while we et the old you back." He said as he embraced you tighter. If anyone was going to love you unconditionally, it was Viktor. He attended Durmstrang, this wasn't a surprise for him but he knew you much better and refused to let you go through this alone.
Charlie: You approached Charlie as he was reading notes for Care of Magical Creatures in the classroom, that was his favourite spot to study. "What is wrong my love?" He said as he put his notes away. You broke down and let it all out so fast you were out of breath by the end. You were panting and sobbing and Charlie ran over to catch you before you hit the ground. "I had no choice! I had no choice!" You kept screaming over and over again. You didn't want to lose him. Charlie meant everything to you. "Alright," He said "We'll figure this out. How about we go eat and then we can figure this out. But I assure you, you will not lose me." He finished as he pulled you up, dusted both of you off, and leading you to the dining hall. "Are you sure?" You asked. "I am more than sure my love." He replied, wiping the tears from your face.
Blaise: Even though you knew he wouldn't hate you, because Draco also has the mark after all, the thought still lingered. You went to his room to talk to him. Draco was in there but as soon as you walked in, he knew. He got up and left the room, but not before patting your shoulder as reassurance that you'll be okay no matter what. "What's up babe? Draco said you had something to tell me." He asked as he moved the chair Draco was just in closer to him. You sat and took a deep breath. A tear streamed down your face as you started to roll your sleeve up. He placed a hand on your arm, signalling you to stop. "You don't need to cry my love, it's okay. I still love you. This won't make me love you any less." He said as he touched where the mark was. "I had a feeling they would get to you sooner or later, I didn't want them too but as soon as Draco showed me his I knew you wouldn't be too far afterwards." He said as he pulled you onto his lap and he started to rub your back. "I was so scared you wouldn't want to be with me." You said through sniffles. He let out a chuckle, "There are only a few things that would make me even contemplate leaving you, and this is nowhere near any of those." He said as he kissed your cheek.

A Family Visit (Neville Longbottom)
A/N: hey yall! ive never wrote fanfic before so please go easy on me. suggestions/criticisms are encouraged as i literally wrote this for a class & want a decent grade. no warnings, just a sad neville but its a nice ending. also, i should note that im reading the series for the first time rn and i just started book 5 and this was inspired by the scene where dumbledore tells harry about neville’s parents in gof. im like 99% sure that you cant get to the hospital via floo powder but it was just easier to write it that way and i was already way over page limit. so... yeah. floo powder. just accept it.
Summary: Neville visits his parents the day of the Yule Ball.
word count: 2745 :)
With the end of the term nearing and the snow covering the ground, Neville once again was met with the bittersweet feeling of Christmas break. In the back of his Potion’s class with Professor Snape, Neville was counting the minutes down. Snape’s lesson was boring as usual, he was saying something about a Pepperup Potion but Neville couldn’t care less. This was his last class of the term. He planned to stay at Hogwarts over Christmas break for the Yule Ball, albeit his date was a third year, Ginny Weasley. Almost as if he could read his mind, Snape interrupted his daydreaming.
“Mr. Longbottom, can you repeat what I just told the class?” Snape squinted at him.
“Er-” Neville pursed his lips together and scratched the back of his head.
“I figured,” Snape rolled his eyes and his lips curled into a smirk. “I said that 12 inches of parchment will be due when you return from break. But that’ll be 18 inches for you, Longbottom. And 10 points from Gryffindor.”
The Slytherins in the front of the class snickered. Neville merely nodded. There was no use in arguing Snape, it’ll only end in more homework.
“Don’t worry, you could use the extra practice.” Malfoy spit at him. Snape glanced at the blonde boy with a disapproving look but said nothing.
“Why don’t you bug off, Malfoy?” Harry shot at him, standing up.
“Are you going to stop me, Potter?” Crabbe and Goyle laughed with Draco. Harry felt his face heating up. He was sick of Snape playing favorites. He allows the Slytherins to do whatever they please since he’s head of the Slytherin house.
“Sit down, Mr. Potter. Unless you want extra work.”
As if on cue, the bell rang. Harry grabbed his bag and walked over to Neville.
“Hey, you alright? Don’t mind them. The lousy gits don’t have anything better to do.”
“Hey, yeah, I’m okay. At least we’re free for the next two weeks.” Neville says half-heartedly as he stands up and walks out of the classroom with Harry. The two boys walked through the corridor towards the Gryffindor common room.
“Hey, I’ve got to talk to Dumbledore quickly. I’ll see you later though, yeah?” Harry says with a small smile.
“Right then, see you later.” Neville replies.
Neville watched as Harry jogged away. He wondered what he was going to talk to Dumbledore about. Neville turned and was met with the fat lady painting.
“Password?” She asks with her arms crossed.
“Oh, er-” Neville always struggled with passwords.
“Fortuna Major.” Ron says from behind him.
Neville mutters a small “thanks” and steps in through the portrait. He had planned to hang out in the common room, but soon realizes that his roommates were all in there. Neville hasn’t had a moment to himself since Summer so he decided to go upstairs to his room. He says a quick hello to Seamus and Dean as he walks past them. He went up the stairs and found the door to his dormitory. He enters and shuts it quickly, breathing a sigh of relief. He walks over to his bed and falls backwards, staring up at the ceiling. He started thinking about the holidays and how much he hated Professor Snape and his greasy hair. What kind of teacher just bullies students? Frustrated, Neville turns to lay on his side. He started thinking about how he was meeting his Gran the next day to go visit his parents. Neville doesn’t think about his parents often. How could he? He doesn’t remember them, thinking about them wouldn’t help anything.
But he still allows himself to think about them, from time to time. Neville’s Gran is a stern lady. Growing up, she worried that Neville was a squib, as he didn’t show early signs of magic very often. She often berated him, telling him he didn’t live up to his father’s honor. Neville couldn’t help but believe her.
Neville was proud of his parents, though. They were Aurors, their job was to fight against the Dark Arts He smiled at the thought of them being praised for their noble work. They were well respected amongst their peers, Neville wondered what it felt like. He reaches in his pocket and pulls out his wand. It was his father’s. Neville runs his fingers along the wood and the not-so-intricate designs of it. Even though it doesn’t look like much, he knows it's powerful. Neville’s father had fought in the first Wizarding War and was an Auror with that very wand. He holds the wand a little tighter and brings it to his chest. Neville fought back the urge to cry. It was unfair. He never got to know his parents, they were good people who only wanted the best for everyone, wizards and muggles alike. Neville bit his lip to stop it from quivering and he sat up. He set his wand next to him on the quilt his grandmother gave him a few Christmases ago. He smooths the banket and stands up. It was getting late and none of his roommates were showing up, so Neville changed into his pajamas and turned on some music. He wanted to practice his dancing skills for the Yule Ball, so he started to pretend to hold a girl and danced to the music. He furrowed his eyebrows as he tried to get the footwork correct. After a few minutes, he heard a knock at the door. Startled, he quickly gathers himself and says “come in,” and Harry walks through the door.
Harry was quiet, he merely smiled and nodded at Nevile before grabbing his nightwear. His eyes had an apologetic look, as if he had just found out something sad about Neville. Harry is the only one who gets it, really. Both of their parents were taken down by the same cause, the only difference being that Harry’s are actually dead. Neville felt a shameful relief wash over him with that thought, he bowed his head and scratched his neck. He was getting tired, and decided to lie in bed. He turned off the lamp next to his bed and closed his eyes. He finally started drifting away as he heard Seamus and Dean enter their room.
The next morning, Neville is woken up by the sun and sound of birds outside their dorm. He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, sat up, and stretched. Seamus, Ron, Dean, and Harry were all sleeping yet. Neville gets dressed and goes to the Great Hall, where he is met with Christmas and winter decorations. There are silver and blue streamers hanging about the Hall, as well as snowflakes covering the walls and hanging from the ceiling. The Christmas tree by the teacher’s table was decorated with white lights, fake snow, and a shiny snowflake on the top. There were presents under the tree wrapped in white and blue wrapping paper. “Bet they’re empty,” Neville thinks to himself, slightly chuckling. He finds his seat at the Gryffindor table and begins to eat his breakfast alone. There was a group of second years at the end of the table, laughing amongst themselves. Neville is already finished with his food when his roommates find their way to the Hall. It was 8:00 and he had to meet his grandmother in an hour. He was meeting his Gran in Hogsmeade to go to St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries in London. Neville and his grandmother had to have a special meeting with Dumbledore his first year about his parents. Of course, Dumbledore knew his parents and their tragic fate. He made a special exception for him this year, allowing him to leave to visit his parents for the day and come back for the Yule Ball this evening.
Neville ventured back to his dorm, muttering a quick “Fortuna Major” to the portrait of the fat lady guarding the Gryffindor common room. He stepped through and was met with Fred and George Weasley in the common room, sitting by the fireplace talking about something secretly. As soon as he enters his room, he grabs a coat and wand and lays them on his bed. Every time Neville visits his parents, he secretly hopes they’ll remember him, even though it isn’t possible. Neville felt his hand involuntarily tighten into a fist, his nails digging into his palm. He patiently sat for what felt like hours but was realistically 20 minutes or so when he finally decided to head down to meet Dumbledore. He grabs his things and puts his wand in his pocket with his right fist still clenched. He felt his nails break the skin of palm as he got more anxious with every step. When he finally meets Dumbledore at the stairs by the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. Neville wondered why he was standing so close to the one-eyed witch statue.
“Good morning, Neville.” Dumbledore greets him with a soft smile.
“Good morning, Professor.” He returns the smile, but quickly lets it fade.
“I hope you keep this between you and me,” Dumbledore says cooly, “Dissendium.” Dumbledore says seemingly at the witch as he taps the hump of the statue with his wand. The hump opens just wide enough for a small person to get through.
“This will take you to the cellar of Honeydukes. Be back by 6:30 so you have enough time to get ready for the Ball. Have a good time, Neville.” Dumbledore smiles at him. Neville thanks him and wonders how many other people knew about this secret. He quickly snaps out of it and enters the passage, giving a final smile and nod towards his headmaster. The passage was cold and rather gross, so he just walked forward until he got to the entrance of the cellar. He opens the latch and enters Honeydukes, trying to be quiet as he enters the door of the store. He quickly exits Honeydukes. He walks to meet his grandmother at The Leaky Cauldron. He gives his father’s mother a faint smile and a quick hello.
“Glad to see you made it here safely, Neville,” she brushes off some dirt on his shoulder, “Are you ready to go?” His grandmother asks him.
Neville merely nods, he was never ready to go. He wonders how she is ready. Neville never knew his parents, so there weren’t many memories to miss, but his grandmother raised his father. Every year she takes Neville to visit but never says anything about how she is feeling about it. Neville furrows his eyebrows and looks at his only parental figure. For a second, he feels remorse for her. Losing your parents is difficult, but losing your child has to be the worst. Neville says a silent prayer to Merlin that he’ll never have to go through that pain himself.
Neville’s grandmother finds a floo system and pulls out floo powder. She hands him a handful of it.
“Do you want to go first?” She asks him.
“No, that’s alright. Have at it.” He just wanted a second without her to compose himself.
She nods and says “St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries”, throwing the powder down at her feet and vanishing.
Neville takes a deep breath and repeats her actions. He feels his stomach twist and turn as he travels. He tries to not focus on it by remembering it’ll end within seconds. And with that, Neville feels his feet fall flat on the floor and he opens his eyes. Letting his eyes adjust to the lighting, Neville subtle forwards a bit.
“Can you manage to stay on your feet, please?” His grandmother remarks.
“Er- yeah. Sorry.” He says lightly.
His grandmother shakes her head as they find the reception desk.
“Who are you here to see?” The receptionist asks. She had long blonde hair and enticing eyes. Neville stares at her for a second and thinks about how she reminds him of Fleur Delacour, the champion from Beauxbatons.
“Frank and Alice Longbottom.” Neville’s grandmother says with a slight smile.
“Right, just down that hall to the left.” His grandmother’s smile is returned as she points to a corridor to the right of the desk.
Neville thanks the woman and thinks about how she probably has her parents. She properly grew up with parents who knew who she was, with a grandmother who doesn't resent her. Brushing that thought aside, Neville and his Gran walk down the hallway that seems to be getting longer with every step. Eventually they find the door labeled “Visitation Room”. Neville exchanges looks with his grandmother as she reluctantly grabs the door knob, turning it. She pushes the door open and gestures for Neville to enter first, closing the door behind them. Neville felt his heart beat faster as his eyes found his parents. They’re sitting at a round table whispering to one another. Neville and his grandmother find their seats, sitting across from them. The boy’s parents stare at them with empty eyes.
“Hi Frank,” His grandmother smiles lightly, “Hi Alice.”
“Hi mom and dad.” Neville looks at them with gentle eyes with a small smile.
“Hello.” Frank replies with wide eyes.
“Hello.” Alice says, turning her attention to Frank.
“How are you guys?” Neville’s grandmother asks.
“We’re good. Although it is cold in here.” Alice says, hugging herself.
Neville’s parents usually complained about the cold when he visited during Christmas. The hospital does get significantly colder as the weather starts to turn. Do they think crazy people don’t need heat?
“Do you want to wear my jacket?” Neville starts to take his arms out of his sleeves, maintaining eyes on his mother.
She nods and smiles at him, and Neville returns the smile. He stands up and walks to his mom, wrapping his jacket around her and kissing the top of her head. She looks up at him and smiles wider, and intertwines her fingers together. Neville’s dad thanks him and places an arm around her. Neville finds his seat again, earning a pat on the back from his Gran. Moments like this are few and far in between, making it all the more special. Neville doesn’t have many happy memories with his family, so making both of his parents and Gran happy was an accomplishment in his eyes.
After almost two hours of mindless small talk, Neville looks at his Gran and realizes it’s time to go. His parents can only handle so much per visit, so when they start getting antsy and irritable they know it’s time to leave them be. Neville stands up and brushes himself off, holding an arm out to help his Gran stand up. Frank and Alice stand up as well, mirroring his moves. Neville smiles as he makes his way over to his mother, removing the coat from her back and embracing her. She reluctantly hugged him back. He didn’t blame her, he was a stranger hugging her. Neville squeezed her a little tighter, resting his head on top of hers. When he finally pulled away, his eyes were full of tears. He looks over at his dad releasing his hug from his own mother, who is also teary-eyed. Neville switches places with his Gran, looking at his dad for a second before he hugs him. Frank lightly wraps his arms around his son giving him a friendly pat on the back. Neville holds onto him until his Gran interrupts,
“It’s time to leave, Nev.” He is taken aback for a moment at the nickname, but then smiles. He releases his father and looks up at him again.
“I love you, dad,” Neville turns to his mother, “and I love you, mom.” He gently grabs their hands for a second before letting go. His Gran puts a hand on his back, rubbing it slightly. Neville feels his lower lip quiver as they walk to exit the door. His Gran opens it and gestures for him to leave first. He turns around to look at his parents, they look at each other and then at Neville, smiling and waving at him. Neville leaves the room and is greeted with the hallway of the hospital. He looks at his Gran as she closes the door with a final click. Her hand lingers on the doorknob for a second before turning to Neville with a tear spilling on her cheek and the slightest smile,
“How about we stop at Honeydukes for some candy?”

“Oh great, it’s the Harry stans again” I’m a wolfstar stan my dude
“So Harry’s desire is a family” yes, and what comes with having a family? Love, also Harry didn’t have his found family yet, just a few friends, and he can have his found family and still want his parents
Fred and George don’t bully him, they tease him like all big brothers do. And Ron went to them when “Scabbers” “died” so he doesn’t hate being vulnerable in front of them
“Let’s think deeper than just “hurr durr rawn wants powur” That is why though. Even at the end of DH he says “the unbeatable wand, Harry?!” Meaning he wants it for its power and is shocked Harry doesn’t
Also, Harry didn’t tell Ron to go with him to save Malfoy, and he only wanted Ron to come to the Ministry because he didn’t want to put his friends in danger. The only reason he was ok with Ron going is that Ron said he would. Why do you think Harry and hermione are selfish and don’t deserve him? That ain’t true
Harry got glimpses in to Voldy cause thats influence. Harry can’t be controlled because he is so full of the “force (Voldy) detests”. It is said multiple times that’s why. And he is so “purely and strongly” associated with love. It’s what makes Harry, Harry. Despite what he’s been through, he remains “pure of heart” as Dumbledore put it, he sacrifices himself and it sets off a protection charm for everyone, he tries to save Voldy, etc. and we do see it shown from him more than Ron. I could bring up countless examples but I’ll just leave it at: Harry felt bad for Hagrid when Aragon died and wanted to be there for Hagrid, despite Aragon nearly eating him. Ron did not. I love your blog btw, I just don’t agree with you on this lol
[Previous]
I’m a wolfstar stan my dude
Ah yes, Wolfstar, the pairing where one guy weaponized his friend’s most important, life-changing secret in order to play a “prank” that could have ended in manslaughter, because the one guy gave his friend’s feelings as much consideration as a plastic bag’s. Also said guy later believed that said friend could be a traitor. A love story for the ages surely.
“So Harry’s desire is a family” yes, and what comes with having a family? Love, also Harry didn’t have his found family yet, just a few friends, and he can have his found family and still want his parents
Yes. And Ron’s desire is also tied around love. Because Ron believes that he needs to accomplish things to stand out and be “worthy” of loving. That’s his whole thing during the entire books, that’s what drives him to sometimes put his foot in his mouth up to his thigh and make stupid mistakes, because he’s trying to earn love, he’s going out of his way to earn the love of his friends when they already love him but are just pants at showing it.
Fred and George don’t bully him, they tease him like all big brothers do. And Ron went to them when “Scabbers” “died” so he doesn’t hate being vulnerable in front of them
Fred and George absolutely bullied Ron. That’s just fact. Look at Order of the Phoenix, look at how they treat him through the books. Fred and George may be popular characters but as big brothers they are AWFUL.
And who’s to say Ron went directly to them? We see them “““comfort”““ Ron but maybe Ron was just sitting with Harry and Ginny and lamenting Scabbers’ death then Fred and George came in and decided to add their five cents. Also in spite of how horrible Fred and George can be to him Ron still loves and admires them greatly - case in point, how he still trusted them about the bogus spell to turn Scabbers yellow.
“Let’s think deeper than just “hurr durr rawn wants powur” That is why though. Even at the end of DH he says “the unbeatable wand, Harry?!” Meaning he wants it for its power and is shocked Harry doesn’t
Yeah, because Ron’s pragmatic still. Imagine what you could do with such a powerful wand. What’s the point of the Invisibility Cloak when you have a super-powerful wand that may cast the best Invisibility Charm ever? How about enchanting stuff with that wand? What of that wand’s ability to heal people? Imagine all you could do if you had that thing up your sleeve.
Also, Harry didn’t tell Ron to go with him to save Malfoy
No he didn’t. Ron turned back of his own will. Because Ron loved Harry and was willing to endanger not only his life, but also the one of the woman he loved, to save Harry from a fiery death trap. Ron chose to go back because he knew Harry was gonna try to save everyone like the idiot martyr he is.
he only wanted Ron to come to the Ministry because he didn’t want to put his friends in danger.
You greatly overestimate Harry’s niceness.
Harry’s  eyes  met  Ron’s.  He  knew  that  Ron  was  thinking  exactly  what he was: If he could have chosen any members of the D.A. in ad-dition  to  himself,  Ron,  and  Hermione  to  join  him  in  the  attempt  to  rescue Sirius, he would not have picked Ginny, Neville, or Luna. - Order of the Phoenix
He’s not thinking that because he’s nice and ~doesn’t want to put them in danger uwu~: he’s thinking that because he thinks Ginny, Neville and Luna aren’t good enough to rescue Sirius. To be fair, that’s also quite pragmatic: Neville has indeed great trouble with magic due to his father’s wand, and Luna has never participated in an adventure to fight Voldemort, while Ginny’s participation was that of his victim.
Why do you think Harry and hermione are selfish and don’t deserve him? That ain’t true
Because yes, that’s true. They’re fundamentally self-absorbed. Part of it is teenage immaturity, of course, and Ron can be similarly self-centred, but Harry is often going around thinking “me me me”. Like, when Arthur Weasley got bitten by Nagini he was thinking about how he was going to look crazy if he said he dreamed he was the snake, what the fuck Harry.
Similarly, Hermione often prioritizes herself and her feelings above Ron’s. She treats Harry very delicately because poor wee Harry is a poor orphan and that’s so sad but she has no such qualms with Ron since she doesn’t realize that his baggage amounts to a little more than just “I feel overshadowed by everyone that came before me”: it’s legit “I feel that nobody will ever love me because who’d care for a loser like me when there are all those great people around me?”. To be fair Hermione is not a psychologist, and she’s not under obligation to help Ron cope with his feelings, but when you’re friends with someone you usually try to support them a bit.
Look at how Harry and Hermione reacted to the bullying campaign against Ron in OOTP. Not. One. Fucking. Thing. Ron left to trudge alone in the snow for maybe hours after his first match, and they didn’t fucking try to find him, they stayed holed up in the common room, just staring at each other and feeling sorry for themselves. I don’t know if it’s a Brit thing to leave a friend alone with their own dark thoughts for company after a terrible public humiliation but it’s certainly not a good friend thing.
Harry got glimpses in to Voldy cause thats influence. Harry can’t be controlled because he is so full of the “force (Voldy) detests”. It is said multiple times that’s why. And he is so “purely and strongly” associated with love. It’s what makes Harry, Harry. Despite what he’s been through, he remains “pure of heart” as Dumbledore put it, he sacrifices himself and it sets off a protection charm for everyone
Yeah because bullshit plot device magic blah blah blah, really it ain’t shit. It’s mostly an excuse. Because how offensive it is to imagine that had Harry just gone to Voldemort a bit earlier, then the “““Love Charm”““ would save everyone? Fred, Lupin, Tonks, Colin, had Harry moved his fucking ass and just surrendered he’d have saved them all. Hell, when you already consider that the Battle of Hogwarts happened at Hogwarts because fucking Harry absolutely HAD to be the one to get one of Voldemort’s Horcruxes you see, couldn’t have summoned Kreacher and asked him to search the place, couldn’t have remained hidden and entrusted the other students with the search, nooo, absolutely HAD to go to Hogwarts aka the place where every child is held hostage by a fascist government that could decide to kill them all for “hiding Undesirable Number One in their midst so they deserved their fate”... Genius move Harry, truly. +50 people dead thanks to you, fucking dumbass.
he tries to save Voldy,
Um, not really, he just told Vold to try and feel some remorse. Then bullshit space magic about the Elder Wand so Harry is technically not a murderer because he just Disarmed his opponent, you see, he’s still pure yall, cause killing someone quickly and painlessly (= Avada Kedavra) is worse than torture (= Crucio), ysee?
Harry felt bad for Hagrid when Aragon died and wanted to be there for Hagrid, despite Aragon nearly eating him. Ron did not.
............................... um, no.
“Hagrid!”  cried  Hermione,  leaping  up,  hurrying  around  the  table  the  long  way  to  avoid  the  barrel of maggots, and putting an arm around his shaking shoulders. “What is it?”  “It’s...him...”  gulped  Hagrid,  his  beetle-black  eyes  streaming  as  he  mopped  his  face  with  his  apron. “It’s...Aragog...I think he’s dyin’...He got ill over the summer an’ he’s not gettin’ better... I don’ know what I’ll do if he...if he...We’ve bin tergether so long...”  Hermione patted Hagrid’s shoulder, looking at a complete loss for anything to say. Harry knew how  she  felt.  He  had  known  Hagrid  to  present  a  vicious  baby  dragon  with  a  teddy  bear,  seen  him  croon  over  giant  scorpions  with  suckers  and  stingers,  attempt  to  reason  with  his  brutal  giant  of  a  half-brother, but this was perhaps the most incomprehensible of all his monster fancies: the gigantic talking spider, Aragog, who dwelled deep in the Forbidden Forest and which he and Ron had only narrowly escaped four years previously.  “Is there — is there anything we can do?” Hermione asked, ignoring Ron’s frantic grimaces and head-shakings.  “I  don’  think  there  is,  Hermione,”  choked  Hagrid,  attempting  to  stem  the  flood  of  his  tears.  “See, the rest o’ the tribe...Aragog’s family...they’re gettin’ a bit funny now he’s ill...bit restive...”  “Yeah, I think we saw a bit of that side of them,” said Ron in an undertone.  “...I  don’  reckon  it’d  be  safe  fer  anyone  but  me  ter  go  near  the  colony  at  the  mo’,”  Hagrid  finished, blowing his nose hard on his apron and looking up. “But thanks fer offerin’, Hermione...It means a lot.”  After  that,  the  atmosphere  lightened  considerably,  for  although  neither  Harry  nor  Ron  had  shown any inclination to go and feed giant grubs to a murderous, gargantuan spider, Hagrid seemed to take it for granted that they would have liked to have done and became his usual self once more. - Half-Blood Prince
Then
“Excellent,” he said. “Really excellent. Right...I’m going down to Hagrid’s.”  “What?” said Ron and Hermione together, looking aghast.  “No, Harry — you’ve got to go and see Slughorn, remember?” said Hermione.  “No,”  said  Harry  confidently.  “I’m  going  to  Hagrid’s,  I’ve  got  a  good  feeling  about  going  to  Hagrid’s.”  “You’ve got a good feeling about burying a giant spider?” asked Ron, looking stunned.  “Yeah,”  said  Harry,  pulling  his  Invisibility  Cloak  out  of  his  bag.  “I  feel  like  it’s  the  place  to  be  tonight, you know what I mean?”  “No,” said Ron and Hermione together, both looking positively alarmed now.  “This  is  Felix  Felicis,  I  suppose?”  said  Hermione  anxiously,  holding  up  the  bottle  to  the  light.  “You haven’t got another little bottle full of — I don’t know —”  “Essence of Insanity?” suggested Ron, as Harry swung his cloak over his shoulders.  Harry laughed, and Ron and Hermione looked even more alarmed.  “Trust me,” he said. “I know what I’m doing...or at least” he strolled confidently to the door — “Felix does.” - Half-Blood Prince
Harry doesn’t want to go to Hagrid’s out of the goodness and lurve of his heart. He’s going because it’s convenient. Because Felix Felicis.
Harry really isn’t anything special. Anyone with basic math skills can realize that dying to save possibly hundreds of people is better than you living and possibly hundreds dying. That’s nothing to do with purity of the heart or shit, that’s just math.

Was that the Mudblood?
(Warning: Main character death, also, Harry and Hermione’s relationship in this is completely platonic- Hermione and Ron are in that weird, pre-confession faze”
Harry stood next to Sirius, jinxing and stunning Death Eaters left and right. The prophecy had been smashed, so they no longer had leverage, Voldemort’s followers were aiming to kill.
Lupin had been nocked down by Lucius Malfoy, and was just getting up with the help of Hermione. She slings his arm around her shoulders, and starts helping him limp to the side of the vast room, her right hand shakely holding her wand.
Bellatrix drew back her wand, aiming at her Blood Traitor of a cousin.
“AVADA KEDAVRA!” The shrill voiced witch screeched
Just in time, Harry lunged at Sirius, nocking him to the ground, but out of the way of the killing curse.
The green flash wizzed across the room, striking Hermione square in the chest
Everything seemed to go in slow motion, Remus felt her go stiff. Both fell, Remus not being able to stand without the assistance from the girl next to him.
“Hermoine!” Harry yelled out, trying, and failing to release himself from Sirius’s grip
“Was that the Mudblood?” The same shrill voice that cast the curse asked
Harry whipped around, seeing red, anger coursing through him
His hand flew to his wand
“Crucio” He yelled, and the Witch fell to the ground, twitching and writhing in pain
He steped twords her, casting the curse again, a monster in his chest purring as he took revenge
“Harry- stop” Sirius said firmly , as Bellatrix fell unconscious, but he kept inflicting pain on her
“Harry, Stop!” He yelled, yet Harry pressed on
“Stupefy” Sirius said, reluctantly, making Harry seize up, and stop hurting the Death Eater
“Sirius...” Remus called from the other side of the room
By this point, all of Voldemort’s followers had either run, or been nocked unconscious and lugged to the side of the room.
Sirius had Tonks come over, and bind up her aunt, and tend to Harry- she said that she would move him to where Ron was; the Weasley still being unconscious from the Brains attack.
Sirius went over to Remus, reluctant to look down at the young witches body, but he had to.
There she lied, expression twisted with fear, her eyes looked grey and cloudy. Her brown bushy hair famed out eavenly around her head, her wand still clutched in an iron grip
Remus had grown quite fond of top-of-the-year Hermione Granger, always polite, very understanding about his condition, even discussing with him about S.P.E.W. And how she’d like to like to expand it to all marginalized magical groups, including werewolves.
Sirius knew that Hermione had been the reason why he had escaped the Demontor’s kiss two years back, and had always found her to be very pleasant and kind.
Both Remus and Sirius knew how much this would hurt Harry, both Remus and Sirius knew how close, almost like a sister, the two were
(Time skip to after the battle is over and the minister sees Voldemort’s back)
They had carted of the 8 death eaters that they were able to capture out of twelve off to Azkaban, Bellatrix had regained consciousness and started a terrible sound in between a girlish giggle and deranged cackle
“I killed the Mudblood, I killed the Mudblood” She sung to herself
Tonks punched her in the temple for it, nocking her out again.
Sirius and Tonks carried a stretcher with Ron, who’s arms were still bleeding.
Kingsley and Remus were left with the unpleasant task of carrying the stretcher with Hermione’s corpse.
The pair disaperated, going to the morgue in Saint Mungos
Harry was still unconscious, but not hurt aside from a few cuts and bruises, so Moody floated his body using a simple spell.
Luna and Neville were wrapped in blankets, being treated by ministry workers for shock. Ginny sat next next to them, a cream colored bandage around her right bicep and over her left eye.
“Alestor?” The voice of Arthur Weasley came as he and his wife apperated into the hall
“Aurthur, Molly, don’t worry, your boy’s alive” He said, as Molly’s eyes filled with tears as she saw her youngest son
“We’re taking them all to Saint Mungos” He says, jerking his head at Luna, Neville, Harry, and Ginny
She scanned over the children, starting to form a question, but then Aurthur beat her to it
“And Hermione? Is she already there?” He asked
There was a long beat
“Dead- the Granger girl is dead- was help’n Lupin” Moody grufed
Molly’s eyes swam with tears, Aurthur grasped his wife’s shoulders
(Time skip to when everyone is at Saint Mungo’s)
Harry woke up, lying in a cot, surounded by those who were at the ministry, and the Weasleys.
He sat up, scanning through all the faces, then everything came flooding back
“Hermione” He said quietly, it wasn’t a question, it was a statement
Suddenly moved to anger, he jumped out of his bed
“Harry- Harry, stop” Lupin said, forcing him back into the hospital bed
“Bellatrix- Malfoy-” He stammered
“All in custody” Sirius said, stepping forward
Harry stoped struggling
Then, one of Saint Mungo nurses came in and ushered out the visitors, saying that he needed rest.
As the group of adults left, Harry heard Remus say to Molly
“Dumbledore just finished writing a letter to her parents, they should reply by tomorrow”
Harry only then noticed, that Ron was sharing a room with him, he was lying on an identical cot, looking off in nowhere in particular. His eyes were looking red and puffy, but Harry pretend not to notice. Both his arms were thickly bandaged, and he had an arra of empty potion bottles on his side table
Before harry could ask, Ron said
“Luna and Ginny are fine, there in the next room over being treated- Neville’s being treated, but they got permission for him to stay with his parents”
Whith that, he turned away from Harry, on his side, and shut his eyes
Harry did the same, but nightmares clouded the rest instantly
The shrill voice of the caster of the curse
The flash of green light
The horrific facial expression as Hermione went stiff
He woke with a start, drenched in cold sweat.
He looked to his side, there Sirius was sitting in an uncomfortable looking looking chair, half awake.
After a moment, Sirius blinked awake, and gave a sad smile when he saw Harry was awake.
“You’re cleared to leave- I talked to Dumbledore, you’ll be spending the summer with me at Grimald Place” He said
Harry nodded numbly
He changed back into his normal robes, Sirius suggested that he stop by Ginny’s room, Luna had already left earlier in the morning.
He could only manage a sound from his throat then walked away.
Over the next few days, Harry didn’t leave his room, Sirius brought him meals, but he hardly ate. He hadn’t said a word to anyone.
Order members still came and went, but everything was more subdued.
Molly, Aurthur, Tonks, Lupin, and even Moody had come to check on him, he still didn’t speak.
Apparently Ron had been acted similarly.
One evening, however he got his hand on a Daily Prohet
On it, it read
“Muggle-born Hogwarts students dead”
He crumpled the paper in rage after reading the article
They didn’t mention her name once, they just wanted the head-line. They didn’t care that she was a top grade student, the founder of S.P.E.W., the most loyal friend, the co-founder of the D.A.- all she was to them was a title
(Time skip to Funeral)
Harry was coaxed out of his room by Sirius, they used the Flue network that had been temporarily connected to a muggle church.
When he got there, six of the Weasleys were there- Ginny and Ron, both had visible scars.
Ginny had a thick maroon line across her eyebrow and eyelid, and a slight bulge on her uper arm indicating it was still thickly bandaged.
Ron, on the other hand, had bandages all up both of his arms, only a small bit was visible though, just around his wrists.
Tonks and Lupin were standing together, even though they hadn’t arrived together.
Lupin was dressed in a black muggle suite, he actually was the only person who looked completely normal by non-magic standards. The rest were in black wizard and witches robes, but all forewent the pointy hats that really would have stood out.
Tonks had puffy eyes, her hair was an ashy black, and she had a very subdued tone, very different from her normal chirpy tone.
Neville was there, with his grandmother, who had a black veil draped over her extravagant hat draping infront of her face.
Luna, and wispy looking man, who Harry assumed was her father stood there, both wearing robes in dark navy’s. Luna didn’t look like her normal self, less bright, less flowey
Dumbledore, Moody, and McGonagall all showed right before it started.
Dumbledore spoke, talking about how brave she was, about all of her accomplishments.
When Mr. Granger was thanking for everyone coming, Moody’s eye started whizzing around.
“Tonks- take the Grangers back to their home, I see somthing they won’t like” He said gruffly
She nodded and escorted both distraught parents out of the grave yard.
Moody jerked his head, they all followed to behind the large church, except Ron and Harry, who both seemed to be planted in their spots
That was until they heard
“Percy!” The quivering voice of Mrs. Weasley exclaimed
They both walked to where the rest were
There, the Minister for Magic, his assistant, Percy Weasley, a man with a comically large camera and Rita Skeeter, who had a Quick Quotes quill hovering next to her.
“Minister, I didn’t realize you had received an invitation” Remus said coldly
Cornelius Fudge shifted uncomfortably, Rita’s quill scribbled uncontrollably
“Well- I- uh...” He started
“Well you what?” A harsh voice asked- Harry only then realized that it was him who said it
Everyone turned around to Harry who had been at the back of the group.
They all stared at him- he hadn’t spoken since it happened
Harry fell the numbness get replaced by something- anger, rage
He walked forward, all the way to the Minister, so he was almost nose to nose.
“You know, I did learn one thing from your little spy at school” He said codly
He showed him the back of his hand- where the bright red carvings on the back of his hand that were just starting to scar over.
“My dear boy, I” Harry cut the Minister off again
“I must not tell lies. So I’m telling the truth when when I say that I don’t think you’re here to give condolences. I’m telling the truth when I say you ought to be sacked. And I’m telling the truth when I say that Hermione Jean Granger is dead because you, are a power hungry- paranoid- coward” He finished, poking him in the chest for good measure.
There was a charged silence, only punctuated by the clicking of the large camera.
“How dare you-” Percy started, but the minister put his hand up, sciencing him
“I see you’ve taken your position Potter” He said, glaring, then turned on his heel, and dissaperated once he was a few paces away
“Harry, are you okay-” Sirius started
“I’m fine” He said, quietly, only then realizing that his eyes started to sting with tears
“Harry-” Sirius started again in a delicate tone, about to put his hand on his shoulder
“I said I’m fine” Harry snapped, and jerked himself out of Sirius’s grip
(Time skip)
On the last day of school, Harry, Ron, and Ginny came back to Hogwarts to get their trunks.
When he was hastily shoving books into his bag, a photo slipped out of a book.
It was of himself, Ron, and Hermione in the hospital wing, right after she had been woken up during second year.
He felt tears sting his eyes again, they’d been doing that a lot lately
He tucked the moving picture into the inside of his robe
He didn’t know how- and he didn’t know when
But he knew
He’d make her sacrifice worth it

Healer Draco
Fandom: Harry Potter
Ship: Drarry
Words: 3k
Warnings: Talk of death, pure fluff
Draco can finally escape his family, finally be free. Now, he can live without the fears of being controlled or manipulated. He can truly be who he’s always wanted to be.
Harry is dead. Harry is dead, dead, dead. And it’s all Draco’s fault. If he hadn’t let the Death Eaters in, he would still be alive. He would still be living.
Tears slipped down Draco’s face as he thought the same thing over and over again. Hagrid held the boy in his arms, visibly shaking with sobs. Draco looked sympathetically at the man, wondering where his life had gone so wrong. Of course, he knew when it went from bad to worse. As soon as he took that Dark Mark, his life was painted with darkness.
“Draco, come here.” A voice hissed loudly on the opposite side, his father violently telling him to join them. Draco was torn, looking at Harry then the Dark Lord.
His footsteps were the only sound made as he crossed to his parents. He joined them, looking towards the Dark Lord with regret and guilt in the eyes. He felt the weight of those who had already died on his shoulders, everything they had fought for, everything Harry had fought for was for nothing.
“Ahh, Draco. Yes, yes.” He said, bringing him in for a hug. Draco simply stood there and waited for it to end. He just wanted this all to be over.
“Anyone else going to join?” Voldemort asked, looking at the other kids. Draco looked at them, noticing the betrayed looks heading his way. But he looked at the ground, the uneven rocks and burnt spots all around where he was standing. However, when he heard footsteps, Draco looked up immediately. Neville slowly limped forward, blood running down his face.
“Is this all we get?” The man laughed before looking at Neville with curiosity. Draco looked back at Weasley and Granger, who held each other’s hands. They were confused and worried as they looked on, both ready to fight some more. Ready to fight to their death.
“What is your name, boy?”
“My name is Neville Longbottom.” He said weakly, a determined look in his face.
“You show spirit, and bravery, and you come of noble stock. You will make a very valuable Death Eater. We need your kind, Neville Longbottom.” The Dark Lord mocked, snarling a little.
“I’ll join you when hell freezes over.” Neville suddenly says, a glare filling his face. The next seconds are a blur, one second Harry is dead then he’s out of Hagrid’s arms, running to the other side. But Draco knew what to do when he saw Harry was alive. He rushed forward, ignoring his parent’s hands reaching toward him. No one could stop him now.
“Harry!” He called, throwing the wand-his wand-towards him. Harry caught it in mid-air and turned around, yelling a spell at the Dark Lord. The battle had begun once more but Draco didn’t know what to do. He reached the other side and looked back at his mother, who had a look of sadness on her face. Yet, he could see she was secretly proud of him abandoning his father. Even if she couldn’t. Draco took a second to breathe, realizing what had just happened, what he did. Harry was alive.
Draco grinned for a moment, looking around him. Those who had just been looking defeated were ready to win this war again. Draco knew where he needed to be. The Hospital Wing.
Without thinking he left the fight and rushed into Hogwarts, his home for seven years, to find Madame Pomfrey. Perhaps all his obsessive studying would come in handy.
***
“Rennervate.” Draco muttered, using the wand that had been given to him. It was different but it would work for the time being. He just needed to focus on getting this man back to life.
“Rennervate.” He said again, louder. He took one glance at the redhead family around him, their tears falling. He knew that they had tried to save him, so many times. But maybe it was the feeling of guilt in him, or simply the feeling of determination, but it fueled him to try one more time. Just one more. Draco looked back at Fred Weasley.
“Rennervate!” He yelled, pointing the wand at his chest and forcing everything he had into it. Fred was not dying on his watch, never again would he lose someone. He couldn’t bear it. Eyes opened and tears fell as the family realized the son they had lost wasn’t dead after all. Draco got up and moved out of their way to the next patient, already so so drained.
Draco moved from patient to patient, some dead and some injured. So far he had counted 34 dead, which was 34 too many. He knew he wouldn’t be able to save them all yet the weight of each one was slowly crushing him as he checked everyone’s pulses. He gasped when he saw his old professor laying on the ground next to his wife, Draco’s relative. Draco rushed forward, ignoring their hands held tightly together. Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks lay beside each other. He knew Tonks wasn’t on the wall do his family, but he knew after this he wouldn’t be either.
“No, no, no.” Draco muttered, not feeling a pulse yet. He waited a little bit longer, trying so desperately to fins my hope of life. Draco’s fingers dig into Tonks’ wrist, finally feeling a weak pulse. Tears rushed down his face but he ran a diagnostics check on her, realizing she had been hit pretty hard in the head. Draco immediately started thinking of spells to help her, to save her. His wand sliced through the air with precise movements. He had practiced this many times, it wouldn’t fail him now. He stared at Tonks’ hair, which no longer held the vibrant pink color, instead washed out and seemingly lifeless. It made him try harder, his muscles aching and burning eight he strong movements. But finally, finally he could see it was working. He turned to Remus, noticing the green sparkles in the air around him, faint and only recognizable to someone who had studied this certain spell so many times before. It was the ‘Quasi Mortui’ spell, one that made the victim go to the brink of death, experiencing great pain and torture but not being to die for a while. Draco would have to tread carefully. He carefully said the counter curse. The curse was sometimes ineffective, instead sending the victim straight to their death. When nothing happened, Draco put his head in his hands. He had lost someone important to him who didn’t even know he was important to him. But slowly, ever so slowly, the green sparkles surrounding Professor Lupin began to pop, disappearing into thin air. He was waking. Draco let out a breath of relief before getting up while they slowly woke up, taking deep breaths. They didn’t need to know who had checked on them. Besides, Draco had to keep going.

“Draco?” Pansy asked, laying against some rock that held her up.
“A sharp piece of rubble fell on me when I was getting the first years out. Madame Pomfrey healed it but it’s slow-working.” She explained, motioning towards her shoulder. He put hands over his mouth, not quite believing it. She had been stabbed straight through the shoulder with a stupid piece of rubble. Her shoulder was bandaged but it had already bled through the bandage. He immediately got to work on fixing the bandage, not thinking twice. Pansy inhaled sharply but didn’t stop him, letting her best friend fix her shoulder.
“I’m so sorry, Pansy. You almost lost an arm.” He said when he was finished. Tears filled his eyes, sudden and unexpected. He let them fall to the ground, thinking of what he had done. “If I hadn’t let them into Hogwarts, Dumbledore would still be here. So would your arm. I’m so sorry.” He said, holding her hand but not looking her in the eyes. Who knew Draco Malfoy could have such human emotions?
“Draco, look at me.” She ordered, squeezing his hand. He looked at her piercing eyes, guilt in his own.
“This is anything but your fault. It’s the idiot who is a mass murderer and forced you to take that Dark Mark that is at fault.” She said, a sense of strength showing through.
“Alright, alright.” He said, patting her leg. He didn’t want to argue, even if he knew he should take some of the blame. Besides, even though he didn’t agree with it, Pansy’s speech helped calm him down.
“Now, go help the others. You didn’t read every single Healer book to be simply talking during this.” She lightly shoved him away, leaning back to find a comfortable position.
Draco nodded but didn’t head to where the others were. He headed outside instead, needing to know if the rumors were true. He needed to know if the man of his nightmares was gone for good. If he was gone for real this time.
***
Harry, Hermione, and Ron sat on the ground, tears in each of their eyes. Harry, upon seeing Draco, stood up and turned towards him. However Draco took one look at the boy with emerald green eyes and rushed towards him, hugging him unceremoniously. Harry hugged him back, not sure what was happening.
“Thank you. Thank you.” Draco muttered over and over again. Harry hugged Draco back even tighter, knowing that when he gave Harry that wand, he had lost his family.
“Harry?” Ron said uncertainly, looking at the two boys. Draco let go of Harry, clearing his throat. He nodded to the two of them, feeling the weight of his emotions weighing his down once more. It was like a pressure on his chest, making him unable to breath right.
“Thank you.” Draco whispered to Harry one last time before heading back into the castle. He rarely ever did anything impulsive but it seemed like today was one where it was needed.
***
FIVE YEARS LATER...
Draco looked at the uncertain student at the door of the Hospital Wing, looking scared and nervous.
“Hey, is everything okay?” Draco kneeled down to the first year’s height, smiling lightly. It was still quite unusual to be smiling constantly, but he was getting used to it. He was trying, that was what mattered.
“Professor Weasley sent me.” The child said, big eyes looking at Draco. He smiled as he looked down at the kid’s limp, the smoke dropping as Draco surveyed the way he was walking.
“Oh! Yes, Quidditch.” Draco nodded and led the student to one of the beds, setting the foot up on his lap to move it around. He found it better to do that so he could figure out exactly where the foot was injured. He ran a quick diagnostics check after and found the student had a fracture in one of his bones. Well now he knew where.
“Did you trip?” Draco asked, glancing over at Madame Pomfrey working with another student. He was on his own with this one, his healer instincts taking over as he brought out his wand.
“Right over my broom. I fell on my foot but I still landed on the ground because of a sharp pain.” The student said, pointing at the right leg.
“All right, well I can fix it right up. But it may hurt a little, Okay?” He asked, looking at the kid directly.
“Alright.” The student nodded. Draco pointed his wand at the foot and muttered the spell under his breath, satisfied when he heard a small click. The student cried out in pain, surprised with how much it hurt. Madame Pomfrey looked over by soon got back to tending to the other student who had gotten bit by one of Professor Weasley’s animals in Care Of Magical Creatures.
“I’m sorry, I know it hurt. In fact, why don’t you rest until dinner? That way you don’t have to worry about the pain and you get to skip the rest of Professor Weasley’s class.” Draco winked, watching the kid nod with a small grin. Draco went over to Madame Pomfrey.
“I’ll talk to Professor Weasley.” He said under his breath, watching her nod. He always gave a stern talking-to to those who let their students they injured. Most times it was accidents, but it didn’t hurt to yell at them a little.
Draco walked out of the wing and headed outside, putting his wand in his pocket. He looked around, the trees a beautiful green and the grass reflecting the sun. It was incredibly peaceful.
“Weasley!” Draco yelled, catching the redhead’s attention. Ron stopped talking to Harry, looking at Draco with a small sigh.
“Look, the kid tripped! You can’t blame me for that.”
“Next time, keep a closer eye on the students.” Draco simply said, glaring at Ron. Draco may be shorter but he was still pretty intimidating when he needed to be.
“Hello Draco.” Harry said, smiling at the blonde.
“Hey Harry. How’s Defense Against the Dark Arts going?” Draco looked over at him with a smile. He hated getting kids from Harry’s class but was glad there were few to none.
“Great! Haven’t had too much trouble with anyone yet.”
“Probably cause they are all scared of you.” A voice said from behind Draco, sarcastic but familiar.
“Hello Hermione.” Draco looked at the bushy-haired woman, trying not to let his eyes travel down to the baby bump at her stomach. She had yelled at him last time just cause he glanced at it.
“Hey Draco, Ron, Harry.”
“Wait, what did you mean my students are scared of me?” Harry asked worriedly, kind of slow to the conversation.
“You’re the hero of the Wizarding World and shit, what do you expect?” She sassed back, hand on her hip.
“I never thought of that.” Harry looked aghast, running his hands through his already messy hair. Draco rolled his eyes, wondering how he could possibly not realize. It was his second year teaching already and yet he had no clue that he was that famous.
“I’m sure they’re not too afraid, don’t worry. I haven’t heard from any of them that you’re scary.” Draco tried to support without invoking the wrath of Hermione. Ever since she became pregnant, she was easily angered.
“Whatever. Anyway, Pansy wants to throw a Baby Shower for our baby. She keeps complaining that it isn’t gay enough so if everything is fucking rainbow when you get there, don’t blame me. Oh right, you guys are invited.” She said, glancing at each of them with a bored look. “It’s tomorrow night at 5, our house.” She finished before walking off. More like waddling off, but still.
“I’d be afraid to miss that Baby Shower.” Ron muttered, looking at his ex with a worried look in his eyes. Draco snorted, agreeing fully. Pansy wasn’t as scary but she could definitely get up there with her way with words. She could talk trash about you until you drop form just that.
“Well I’m sure your boyfriend would appreciate if you brought him along. He could be moral support.” Harry suggests, looking at his best friend.
“I wish. Viktor is practicing all this week with the big quidditch game coming up.” Ron sighed. Draco rolled his eyes, thinking he was acting a little pathetic here.
“Great, now I’ve got to figure out what to give her for the Baby Shower.” Draco grumbled, realization crossing his face. Ron shrugged, not really thinking about it. “Anyway, I’ve got to talk to the other Weasley.” Draco waved a little and headed towards the Care of Magical Creatures class area for Charlie.
“Hey, I’ll come with.” Harry said, catching up with Draco. They walked in silence for a moment but Harry interrupted it, blurting out a statement that made Draco stop.
“I know you saved Fred, Sirius, Remus, and Tonks.” Harry stopped too, looking down at Draco. Draco felt he guilt come back with a vengeance. Five years since it happened and Harry just now he figured out. It was a miracle really.
“I didn’t save them.” He muttered, not really wanting to talk about it. He saved them because they needed to be saved, it wasn’t some big deal. He had gotten everyone into the mess and he had gotten some of them out, even if they had scared and bruises.
“Yes, you did. Pansy saw what happened.” Harry said, taking a step closer.
“Well she doesn’t know what she ‘s talking about. I was merely doing my job.” Draco said, suddenly finding his feet very interesting. He didn’t want to talk about what happened in the war. He didn’t want to talk about the people he’d lost, the people he’d saved. He wanted to forget about it. However the nightmares never let the memories go, flashing with blood and the terror of the victims of the Dark Lord.
“Draco, Draco?” Harry asked, bringing him out of his daze. Draco’s head snapped up, his eyes a bit blurry.
“Sorry, Yeah?”
“I was thanking you.” Harry said, looking Draco in the eye. He gulped, not liking the direct eye contact,
“You don’t need to do that, Harry. I told you-“ Draco said, frowning.
“Yes, yes I do.” Harry interrupted. He moved forward, giving Draco a quickly peck on his lips Harry straightened back up, looking down at Draco. “Thanks Draco.” Harry simply said, scratching the back of his neck before moving back to talk talk with Ron.
“...okay then.” Draco said, standing there for a second. He looked over at Harry who had only moved a step away. Draco debates it for only a moment. He had been trying to be more impulsive and less calculative all year. So Draco stepped forward, grabbing Harry’s shoulder and turning him around, ignoring Harry’s surprise and kissing him fully on the lips, holding the back on Harry’s head. Harry kissed back after a moment, his hands on his waist. Draco’s hands slipped up to his hair, entangling his fingers in Harry’s lock’s.
“Get a room!” Hermione shouted from far away, making them break apart with surprise. “You owe me five galleons, Ron!” She shouted, making them groan and step apart, glaring at the two.
“Well then, that caught me off guard.” Harry said, raising his eyebrows. Draco smiler, a real true smile. He didn’t have to think about he smile, he just did it. And maybe that’s why Draco spoke without thinking, maybe that’s why Draco took a leap without thought.
“Will you be my boyfriend?”
*Spoiler alert: he says yes.*
***
Bonus:
“And do you, Draco Malfoy, take Harry Potter to be your lawfully wedded husband?” Mr. Weasley asked, reading out of his book. He was extremely fascinated by the way muggle did their weddings.
“I do.” Draco stated, looking into Harry’s emerald eyes. He’d never wanted to kiss Harry so bad. He was enraptured by his soon-to-be husband’s eyes to realize what Mr. Weasley was saying.
“Then you may kiss your groom.” He stayed, losing the book as Draco rushed forward, the kiss full of longing and hope. Harry laughed, breaking away from him. Harry cradled Draco’s face, so incredibly happy.
“I love you Mr. Draco Potter.” Harry said, giving him another kiss. Cheers and claps came from all around them but they didn’t care.
“I love you too.” Draco grinned before kissing Harry for the third time in the last couple of minutes, so excited to be this man’s husband.

Tumblr media
Today was no different from most, a carbon copy of an old routine. You sat in hogwarts library, your nose buried into a book, this one was about  a subject your took particular interest in “Gashawks guide to herbology”. The library was as silent as ever, the occasional sound of a chair sliding or footsteps of students searching for a book. Druing this thrilling daily event you were usually accompanied by your friend, Katie, but as always she was late. Honestly she would be late to her own funeral. She was never in Snapes good books due to her punctuality,  but no gryffindor was.
Your attention was soon shifted from your book to the person who had now entered the library with a loud bang. The door flew open with a crash noise, and from it stumbled your worst nightmare and favourite dream. Neville Longbottom. Ms pince’s head whipped around the where the racket emerged from, she gave a stern look the the nervous boy.
“Sorry” he mumbled with an apologetic look painted on his face. He Hastily walked over to the table in front of you, with Trevor in his hands, while passing you by your eyes connected. You could feel your pulse increasing at an alarming rate and your face heating up, which you guessed showed as a pink hue across your cheeks. He smiled timidly at you. That bloody smile. It effected   you every time you had the measure to see it it was a smile you wanted to see every day of the week, it made your heart sore and your brain buzz like a static television. Even with his crooked teeth it is still one of the most charming and endearing things your eyes had ever seen. That smile always managed ripped you of any tenacity and intelligence you had. Something nobody had ever been able to do before.  It frustrated you to an unhealthy level. Snape didnt even make you feel as nervous and helpless as Neville did. Who gave this boy the right to do this too you without him even knowing? You've always took an interest in Neville since first year after the sorting ceremony you noticed him, his timid nature, his kindness, his gentility, you adored this boy held. Which is why you always found it so difficult to find confidence or the ability to think coherent thoughts when in his vicinity.
You quickly snapped out of your thoughts when saw the expression on Neville's face.  You had been staring at the poor boy this whole time.  Your eyes widened and your body locked,  like it was frozen in a heavy block of ice, it explained why you found it more difficult to breathe and why your heart was stuttering in your chest.  A rush of heat swept over your face which was now a color closer to a Phoenix then anything. This was no different to what usually occured, but you were never caught out like this before.  Well at least you thought. You always knew Neville was blissfully unaware to your feelings towards him, or even your existence really. It broke your heart that you could ever find the courage to interact with the boy. Courage was never a trait you lack apart from time like these
His eyebrows furrowed in concern and confusion. Your eyes were locked with his soft, caring brown-
" Y/N? Are you alright?  You look a bit worried."
His head was tilted like a confused puppy dog and his face wasn't dissimilar to one either.
Neville spent years trying to understand you.  Why you never spoke to him, purposefully avoided him.  You seemed so talkative and bright to everyone else. Why whenever he looked at you,  you seemed to already be looking, but would glance away and your friend would whisper and you would both giggle.  It was difficult to not be aware of your Pressence. You never failed to speak your mind in class and seemed to radiate confidence with every step you toom,  you made people smile and feel important, why not him? His curiosity ate away at him every day. He adored you. How kind you were to others, and it wasn't that you were cruel to him in particular, but you were distant.  Seamus never failed to point out when you were staring at neville, or how you'd without fail call out Draco Malfoy on any misdeeds he did to Neville. But it was pointless, Neville's mindset was made up. He had done something for you to dislike him,  and it seemed that is how it would stay, no matter how much it hurt him
A simple nod and "mhm" was all you could muster up before you eyes darted to your book and your brain had already called you and idiot about seven or so times.  You could feel his confused stare linger onto you while you pretended to read, until both of your eyes shot to the girl who had just entered with a loud, but proud bang. A wave of relief washed over you at the sight of your friend, maybe she could save you from this embarrassment.  Once her eyes caught sight of you she smiled a warm and cheerful smile, you returned the same, though yous a bit more reluctant, your brain still repeating the moment of seconds ago.
She began to approach,  but before she sat down beside you her eyes caught Nevilles,  and her smile looked more chaotic then ever.
Katie had known you liked Neville since day one.  And had constantly encouraged you to talk to him or even interact with him.  She constantly teased you for your lovesick looks to him saying "What's the worst that could happen?" To which you had what could have been a five page list with all that could go horribly wrong,  many of which ended in you dying from embarrassment.
"Hi Neville,  long time no see,  if you want you can sit over with us, I don't bite,  I don't think y/n does either. " Her tone had a hint of evil behind the kind gesture. Your eyes locked with hers,  yours were wide with panic while hers narrowed while a cunning smile crept onto her face. How is she not a slytherin?!
"Eh- s-sure, thanks"
Her and Neville chairs screeched in sync while she sat down beside you and Neville in front of you. Your eyes glared at the words below you, while you heart pounded against your chest.
Neville smiled shyly while trvour stayed in his hands,  your eyes didn't leave, you knew you'd make a fool out of yourself if you said or did anything,  hopefully if you just read you could stay calm.
Neville's face lit up once he saw what book you were reading.  "Is that gawshaks guide to herbology? I never knew you were a fan y/n."
His voice was so happy to finally find something to talk to you abou,  like he'd been waiting to ask you the short question since that day he was born.
Your eyes looked up while you head stayed tilted to the book. Your mouth opened to reply but nothing came out, an awkward silence drifted into the room while both Neville and Katie stared,  waiting for your reply. You had to get out of here
Your legs sprung up and your chair made a loud scratch while it pushed back.
"I need to use the bathroom"
As if it were lightning you darted out of the room,  your legs taking you as far as they could as quickly as possible.
Neville sat,  wide eyed, staring at where you sat on lying seconds ago,  his smile had faded and his excited eyes looked beaten and sad as they sank to the ground
"I don't know what I did, every time I try to talk to her she leaves or doesnt reply or just stares at me,  did I do something? "
His question was asked so quietly it was surprising that katie even heard it at all.
She knew very well that you two would make a good couple.  You both had a keen interest in herbology, both were very caring and kind.  It would fit like a lovely jigsaw. But if things kept up they way they were there was no chance of you two.  She had to intervene.
"No, no Neville you didn't do anything. Well you kind of did,  but you didn't. Okay so I'm going to tell you something, but if you say I told you, you will be lucky to leave this room alive."
His eyes widened with fear, he shuffled in his seat nervously.
"I-i promise,  I really promise. "
It was clear that his words were sincere,  even if they were laced with fear from kayies death threats.  Katie leaned onto the table, to get closer to Neville, she couldn't let anyone else hear this or she'd be dead meat.
"Y/n likes you,  a lot. Your like the only thing that makes her nervous, she doesn't know what to do around you,  so she eject buttons herself out."
Neville didn't reply to katie,  he just sat, in utter disbelief.  His eyes were wide and his heart was pounding.  You liked him back. You really liked him back, good godric you liked him! He wanted to whack his head of the table from being such an idiot.  Every interaction you both had replayed in his head until minutes later you re-entered the room.
You had calmed yourself down in the bathrooms and mashed your face to snap back into reality. The reaction you got to your entrance was not one you expected at all.  Neville looked like the boy was going to explode with nerves. Before you had a chance to step further into the room, Neville stood up and started to approach you. Yours eyes locked the whole time.  What is happening,  what did I do? Why is he still walking?  Your head was raving and your heart felt like it was going to grow legs and run out of your ribs.  It wasn't until he was inches away when he came to a holt.
Your faces were mere inches apart,  he was a lot taller when he was this close.  His eyes sparkled from the light through the windows.  You didn't know what to do. Run? Scream? Cry? Okay maybe not the last two.  His hand raised to hold yours, his hands touched yours as if you were about to break at any second.
"Y/n..  I like you,  I like you a lot.  I like your eye, and your hair,  and everything about you. I just really like you,  and I really want to do something." He took a deep breath " Can I kiss you?"
You simply nodded,  the last action before his head tilted into yours and your lips met.  His were chapped and tasted like lip balm. Your heart felt like it was going to burst,  your legs barely held you up. His hand cam e and rested on the sides of your face while your on his shoulders.  This moment was worth every fall, every embarrassment, he was worth every moment.

More than my choices
Draco Malfoy x reader
Word count: 2,196
Summary: Draco makes some awful choices but Y/N knows a person is more that their choices.
"Draco? Are you alright?" I asked, cautiously stepping into the boy's bathroom when I saw the way that my boyfriend's shoulder shook as he sobbed. He look up at me in the mirror and I could see the anguish in his eyes. "No. No, I'm not" he whispers, hanging his head as the tears fell down his pale cheeks. I rushed towards him, pulling him away from the sink and turning him to face me. He looked at me with so much pain and regret in his eyes, it broke my heart. I pulled him into a hug, holding him tight.I didn't know what else to do so I held him together when he began to fall apart, when he was too weak to do it himself. "What happened baby? Please, tell me what's wrong?" The sobs continued to wrack his body. "You have no idea Y/N, I've done something terrible. You wouldn't love me if you knew." he said, his arms holding me more firmly as if he was afraid I would slip away. "Draco..." I buried my face in his shoulder. "I will always love you. I promise." He jerks away from me when I say that, wiping furiously at his eyes. "No, you can't say that, you don't know." he cried. I covered the space he had created between us and grabbed his hand. "Then explain it to me. Let me decide. You haven't been yourself recently Draco. Whatever secret you're keeping is tearing you apart. Please let me help you." I begged, holding his hand close to my chest. He shook his head and I could see him slipping away from me. He wiped his tears away one last time and straightened. "No. I can't lose you. I'm sorry" he said firmly before stalking away. I watched him go, my hear aching painfully. There is no greater pain then watching the person you love most suffer.
The next day Draco acted like nothing had happened. He greeted me with his usual kiss to my forehead but this time when he pulled away there was a sad smile playing on his lips. He looked as if he was trying to memorize all my features. "Are you alright?" I whisper. We both know the answer to the question but he puts on a brave face and fakes a smile, "Of course my darling. Let's get to class shall we?" he slipped his hand into mine and tugged me toward the transfiguration classroom. He kept up his facade for the rest of the day until we were at dinner. I glanced over in the middle of a conversation with Pansy to see him staring at nothing with a troubled expression on his face. I was just about to ask him what was wrong when he stood abruptly from the table and walked quickly from the room. Everyone at our table looked to me in confusion but I had no answer to give them explaining his behavior. I excused myself from the group and got up to follow him. As I promptly made my way out Hermione gave me a questioning look. I showed concern in my expression when I met her eyes but kept up my pace. When I got out into the corridor I was just in time to see Draco disappear at the end of it. I jogged to catch up with him and but hung back enough to go unnoticed. I followed Draco down several passages until we reached the room of requirement. He cautiously looked over his shoulder for any audience but I ducked behind the wall opposite him just in time to not be seen. I heard the sound of the door closing and I rounded the corner quickly but to my surprise the doorway did not begin to disappear. I slowly inched open the gigantic doors and ducked into the room, keeping as quiet as possible. Whatever Draco was doing, he didn't want anyone to know about it-even me- and I had a strong feeling it had to do with his strange moods recently. I slipped silently behind all of the things being stored in the room-glass cases, desks, a spinning wheel, chairs, books and even a small rowboat. My boyfriend came to a stop in front of a large object covered by a white sheet. He took hold of the sheet near the bottom and tugged it downward to reveal a large wardrobe of sorts. It was very ornately decorated, with intricate things carved into the wood, and it was in the shape of a triangle. Draco stared at it in what seemed to be dread for a moment before he hesitantly reached forward and grasped the handle, pulling it open. A breath of air seemed to be released as soon as the door came unlatched and I could feel deep in my bones that something very sinister was happening. I got a sick feeling in my stomach as black smoke rolled out of the cabinet in smooth waves. Suddenly, moving very quickly the smoke whirled around in the air before taking the shape of none other than Bellatrix LeStrange. I held back a gasp at the sight of the feared witch. The remaining inky clouds turned into other death eaters that I had never seen before but could clearly identify by the tattoos on the underside of their forearms. I covered my mouth in shock as tears stung my eyes. No. Draco couldn't be part of this...he wouldn't! I argued with myself but there was no way to deny what was right in front of me. Bellatrix approached Draco and smiled evilly. She reached up a hand to caress her nephew's jaw and though I couldn't see his expression because his back was to me, I could see him flinch under her touch. "You have done very well Draco. The dark lord will be pleased" she turned her attention away from him and back to her minions. "You all know the plan. Don't, fail him." here she shot Draco a sharp glance "There will be no mercy for failures." Draco sucked in a shaky breath and stepped in front of the group as they tried to exit. "Don't forget our deal," he hissed. "She is not to be harmed." Bellatrix rolled her eyes "Alright, alright, your precious girlfriend won't be harmed, Let's get on with it!" and sidestepped him. He stood back for a moment, watching them leave. There was that same look of anguish on his face and I felt physically ill from everything that was occurring. It was all too much. I stepped out from the shelf I had been hiding behind. I had to talk to him. I had to try to understand. "Draco..." I whispered and he looked startled before it changed to misery. "DRACO!" Bellatrix yelled out, clearly having noticed the absence of the boy as they made their way to the heart of the school. He kept eye contact with me for a minute before whispering "I'm so so sorry" and following his masters. My sobs haunted his ears as he left me behind.
It was done. Dumbledore's broken body lay on the cold pavement in the courtyard as it started to rain, a gift from the clouds that the death eaters had left behind. A solemn silence had taken over the crowd when the chosen one ran forward and cried over the body of his former mentor. I wept at the painful betrayal that left my heart in pieces and Neville Longbottom from Gryffindor noticed and pulled me into his side. I cried even harder at that, wanting to be held by the person I loved most. But I wanted someone I could not have. He had betrayed us. Draco Malfoy would never be welcome at this school again. Professor Mcgonagall raised her wand to the sky, the smallest of lights resting at the tip. More wands joined hers in lighting up the night as a tribute to the beloved headmaster of our school. I could've stopped it. the thought tortured me again and again. Because Draco was mine and he had done this. And I ignored the signs. This was all my fault.
It was time. The battle of Hogwarts was upon us. Every house stood before an army of evil and though we were terrified, we knew this was our destiny. Silent tears rolled down my cheeks as I tried to avoid the eyes of my boyfriend, who stood by his father and the Dark lord himself. All other Slytherins had fled, abandoning the school that had treated them so unfairly. But I knew I must stay. This was as much my fight as anyone else's. We would stand by the boy who lived, even if the rest of us might not.
"HARRY POTTER IS DEAD!" Voldemort yelled in triumph. All the death eaters cheered, knowing that even though the rest of us lived, we wouldn't stand a chance without him. Ginny screamed and Hermione buried herself in Ron's chest. I stared blankly at the limp body Hagrid held in his arms. My eyes drifted slowly to Draco. He searched my face and there was no anger but only a burning disappointment. You did this. It wasn't an accusatory glance, it held only pain at the honesty of the statement that he saw resting in my glassy eyes. Because it was true. He had started the chain of events that had lead us to this point. "Come, now, and join us! We have already won!" Voldemort invited. When no one moved Mr. Malfoy stepped forward and reached out his hands. "Draco..." he called to his son in desperation. I prayed that Draco would make the right decision. He didn't want any of this, that was clear, but I was waiting for him to be bold enough to take a stand. Mrs. Malfoy joined her husband and everyone looked at Draco, waiting, anticipating his answer. He shot me one last sad glance before walking forward, between all of the other students he had known for years and forward into the chasm that rested between the two sides. Voldemort greeted him happily, taunting us with the fact that we had been betrayed by one of our own. "DRACO NO!" I yelled just as he was about to take his place with his parents. Everyone turned to me, startled by my outburst. "You are better than this!" I insisted, believing in the good in him even when he didn't. "I love you" I said, my voice fading more with every sentence. Draco had come to a complete halt, focused on me only. Suddenly Neville surprised everyone by stepping forward from beside me. Voldemort taunted him as Neville limped closer to the most feared Wizard in the world. "I would like to say something." Neville declared, interrupting Voldemort's summons. "Well, Neville," Voldemort sneered, still poking fun at the battered boy before him and gesturing towards his army. "I'm sure we'd all love to hear what you have to say."   "Doesn’t matter that Harry’s gone." Neville began, turning to face the crowd of lost students, and immediately Voldemort's sneer curled into a smile of amusement. "People die everyday—friends...family. Yeah, we lost Harry tonight. But he’s still with us…in here." Neville pointed to his chest "So is Fred, Remus, Tonks…all of them. They didn’t die in vain! But you will!" Neville turned upon the dark wizard, suddenly full of fury. "Cause you’re wrong! Harry’s heart did beat for us! For all of us! It’s not over!” And with that final sentence Neville yanked the sword of Godric Gryffindor out of the sorting hat and then Harry James Potter himself seemed to come back from the dead at Neville's call to arms. He dropped out of Hagrid's grip and took back up his battle against Voldemort. Everyone stood there in astonishment for a moment as Harry dodged Voldemort's blasts of magic until suddenly a familiar voice cried out "POTTER!" Everyone turned just in time to see Draco bolt forward and toss Harry his wand. A loud roar of cheers rose up as the chosen one began to duel with Voldemort. Several death eaters, even Lucius Malfoy, began to dissipate into clouds of black smoke that shot into the sky. The battle was as good as lost as long as Harry Potter was alive to continue it. In the midst of all the chaos I ran to Draco. He welcomed me with open arms as I crashed into him. I broke down in his arms and this time it was he who held me together. "It's alright, I'm so sorry. Can you ever forgive me?" I laughed in disbelief at that, looking him in the eyes and declaring, "Draco...I already have!" He jerked forward and kissed me like never before."I love you too" he said, breathlessly, tears gleaming in his eyes as he laid his forehead against mine. "Thank you for believing that I am more than my Father, more than my choices." I nod, closing my eyes in comfort. "I will always believe in you Draco Malfoy."

Harry Potter? For the in-depth fandom ask
Hi thank you! ♥ I will use the books for my answers, since I didn’t really like most of the movies. I apologize if I mix up some of the characters, I’ve only read the books in my native language so I will have to google for some of the names in English. :’D
Top 5 favorite characters: Minerva McGonagall, Luna Lovegood, Fred & George Weasley, Neville Longbottom, Ginny Weasley. Other characters you like: The golden trio obviously, Molly, Dobby, Draco Malfoy, ... There are not a lot of characters I dislike. Least favourite characters: Umbridge, for obvious reasons. Otps: Hermione and Ron. Notps: I don’t think I have any? I’m not very invested in shipping when it comes to the HP fandom, I pretty much keep an open mind to everything? Except incest but I’ve never seen anyone ship anything like that, so. Favourite friendships: Harry, Ron and Hermione, obviously, and I also really liked Fren, George and Lee, and Lavender and Parvati. Favourite family: The Weasleys Favourite episodes: / Favourite book:  Prisoner of Azkaban is probably my favorite book. Favourite quotes:  "If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals." "I solemnly swear I am up to no good." "But you know, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." "Harry witnessed Professor McGonagall walking right past Peeves who was determinedly loosening a crystal chandelier and could have sworn he heard her tell the poltergeist out of the corner of her mouth, 'It unscrews the other way.’" "There is no need to call me ‘sir,’ Professor." And probably more. The books have so many amazing scenes, funny, inspirational, sad, hopeful, ... It was really hard to pick just a few. Best musical moment: / Moment that made you fangirl the hardest: Ehh... I mean, obviously I was rooting for Harry and the ending was a satisfying one, just like every other time Harry beat Voldemort, but the moment that made me fangirl the hardest would probably be Hermione punching Draco in the face. xD When it really disappointed you: The only truly disappointing thing about the book is how House-Elves are treated. Other than that, the only time I’m disappoint is literally every time JK Rowling decides it’s a good idea to open her mouth. Saddest moment: The moment Harry breaks down in Dumbledore’s chambers after Sirius dies gives me chills every. damn. time I reread the book. Most well done character death: Oh god, this is so hard because most of the deaths really hit me hard Favourite guest star: / Favourite cast member: / Character you wish was still alive: Honestly? Probably Hedwig. Maybe Fred. One thing you hope really happens: That JK Rowling’s Twitter account is banned so she doesn’t have a damn platform anymore. Most shocking twist:  When did you start reading: I think the first three books were already out when I started to read them. My classmates kept telling me to do it and I was in that annoying phase where I refused to dive into anything that was this massively popular - but I’m glad I eventually caved because if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have grown up in this fandom and that means I would’ve had an entirely different experience. Now I can still say I grew up with the books and I’m glad I did. Best animal/creature: I’m a gigantic sucker for unicorns and I’m not sorry about it. xD Favourite location: I mean, Hogwarts is amazing, the descriptions of the castle never get old. Trope you wish they would stop using: Ehh... I honestly don’t know? One thing this book does better than others: I love how this show has such an inspired, dedicated, creative fanbase. The amount of HP related art, fanfiction, headcanons, ... out there is mindblowing. I’ve never quite seen that happen in any other fandom and it’s part of why I love this one as much as I do. Like how people can take a character that’s mentioned maybe a couple of times in the books and they create so much content for them to the point where I’ve actively had to stop myself from writing an answer to this questions because the answer isn’t canon, that’s admirable. Funniest moments: Fred and George wrecking havoc on Umbridge and finally leaving the castle after they get caught is without a doubt the funniest scene I can think of. Couple you would like to see: Like I said, I was never really into shipping anyone with anyone. I enjoy quite a lot of fanon ships I see on Tumblr, though. Actor/Actress you want to join the cast: / Favourite outfit: Every outfit I can think of is influenced by the movies so I don’t really have an answer to this. I would’ve loved to see Hermione’s dress to the Yule Ball, though, and the Patil sisters’. Oh, and Fleur’s wedding dress. Favourite item: The Marauder’s map. Do you own anything related to this show: No. What house/team/group/friendship group/family/race etc would you be in: I’m a Slytherin. Most boring plotline: I can’t think of anything. The passage that bores me the most is the one where the Minister of Magic meets the Muggle Prime Minister but that’s not a plotline. I guess everything is just so well thought of, everything that’s in the books in there for a reason and I wouldn’t cut anything out of it. Most laughably bad moment: As much as I dislike JK Rowling, she wrote seven brilliant books. I can’t think of a bad moment. There are plot holes, sure, and things that really fucking bug me, but no laughably bad moments. At least, not any that I can think of right now. The fact that she gave Cho Chang two last names as a name is a bad moment, though - but it’s not laughably. It’s just more proof that JK Rowling is a terrible person. Best flashback/flashfoward if any: The memories Snape shows to Harry, and the ones they both get to see of each other during their Occlumency lessons. Most layered character: I love the character development Ron goes through. Most one dimensional character: Ehh. There were a lot of important characters so it makes sense that not all of them got the layers they deserved. Right now nobody who’s relevant to the plot comes to mind as an answer? Scariest moment: Well, when Harry and Dumbledore came back from finding the fake Horcrux, that had me scared. Not for their lives (because it was obvious that Harry would live and Dumbledore would die) but because it felt like all of Dumbledore’s plans would be ruined so that’d probably be the scariest moment for me? Grossest moment: Ehh... I would probably throw up if I had witnessed Nagini sliding out of Bathilda’s dead body so I’m gonna go with that one, that must’ve been horrifying for Harry, especially because he spares Hermione the details. Best looking male: Well the books name Cedric Diggory as the most attractive one, so... Let’s go with that one then?  Best looking female: Fleur and Ginny Who you’re crushing on (if any): I would probably be all over Ginny if I had gone to Hogwarts. Favourite cast moment: / Favourite transportation: A Thestral! Most beautiful scene (scenery/shot wise): I really love the descriptions of Hogwarts. Unanswered question/continuity issue/plot error that bugs you: Oh god, so. many. Off the top of my head, here we go. 1. The carriages that bring the students back to the train station are mentioned specifically at the end of the fourth book and yet Harry can’t see the Thestrals until the beginning of the fifth book. 2. In what world are the Weasleys poor? Hermione specifically mentions in the seventh book that you can increase the quantity of food and Harry gets more wine for Slughorn and Hagrid with a spell in the sixth book, so no wizard or witch would have to spend any money on food, ever. And like with clothes and books and everything, why buy multiple ones? Just buy one and then duplicate it like when Hermione did it with the medallion? 3. Harry randomly remembering the phone number to get into the Ministry of Magic after almost an entire year, having heard them once: please. I started rereading the fifth book like two months ago for the gazillionth time and I already don’t remember them anymore. 4. Supposedly there’s a curse on the position as the DADA professor ever since Voldemort asked for the job, so there’s a new teacher every year, but Professor Quirrel is introduced in a way that makes it seem as if he has been teaching there for quite a while and other students (like Fred and George) treat him as such - seems to me like the curse was only activated with Harry coming to Hogwarts but that’s not what’s canon. 5. Voldemort conveniently waiting for the end of the school year each year to make his move. 6. The school year somehow always starts on a Monday and the Hogwarts express always leaves on September 1 which would mean that September 1 was a Sunday for seven years in a row. 7. Why, WHY, would they use feathers and parchment? What the hell is wrong with pen and paper? Or things like torches, when electricity has been a thing since forever? And the same goes for using owls to send letters, or the memos that are used in the Ministry of Magic: just text or e-mail, dudes. One sloppy ‘this doesn’t work here because there’s too much magic in the air’ just doesn’t cut it for me, especially because Harry does wear a watch, for instance. I probably have more but this is all I can come up with right now. xD Best promo: My childhood best friend bugging me about the books until I finally caved and started to read them. xD At what point did you fall in love with this show/book: Literally the first chapter.
Send me a show/fandom and I’ll answer

Letters to my Parents - Sunday 1 November 1992 - by Alinda
Sunday 1 November 1992
Dear mom and dad,
I had a cold the beginning of October, that was quickly resolved because of Madam Pomfrey’s Pepperup Potion. It works instantly, only I had smoke coming from my ears for several hours afterwards. Hermione said it looked funny. Ron said Ginny also took some and that it looked like her whole head was on fire because of her vivid red hair. The rest of the month was kind of boring. It rained a lot and I went to my classes, did homework with Hermione in the library and tried not to think of how close Draco and Pansy seem to be these days.
It’s only since last weekend that everything seems to go wrong. It started last Saturday when I went out to fly my new broom, in the hope it would help me take my mind of Draco. It didn’t. All I could think of was how badly I wanted to fly together with him. He’s so talented on a broom. I’ve been coming to look at most of his Quidditch training. He’s noticed me there. He always looks around the stands until he finds me when he comes on the field and then just tries not to look at me for the entire training. Pansy and Daphne are also always at the training, cheering Draco on. I wish I could cheer with them. Hermione says I should stop going, that it’s not healthy. I should just forget about him and move on. Like it’s that easy. I still have the nightmares, only the situations keep changing. Sometimes we are sitting in the Great Hall having dinner and I look away for a second and then Draco is gone. I then run out of the Great Hall, looking for him, but he has just vanished. Or he’s playing Quidditch and suddenly his broom would be empty. I hate them, the nightmares. What if they are a bad omen? Like my nightmares from last year, that warned me about the danger that was coming? What if Draco really is going to disappear? I don’t think I want to live in a world that doesn’t have Draco in it.
But like I said, I had been out flying my broom. It was raining and I was wet and dirty when I came back into the castle. I took the stairs down to the dungeons and ran into Nearly Headless Nick. He’s the Gryffindor ghost. He said I looked troubled and I responded that he looked troubled too. He told me he had wanted to join the Headless Hunt but was denied. It’s because his head is still attached to his body by an inch of skin and sinew. He also asked me what was bothering me and if he could help me. I was just in the process in asking him if he could mend a broken heart when Mrs Norris showed up, followed closely by Filth. I had to come with him because I had left a muddy puddle on the floor. In his office, he started to fill out a form with my name and crime. He was just about to write down my punishment when we were interrupted by a loud bang coming from the floor above. Filch ran out of the office screaming Peeves’ name, saying he would get him this time.
I didn’t really know what to do, should I wait or get out of there? But Filch would remember he was going to request for a detention for me when he would see the half-completed form, so I decided to stay and wait. I looked over the desk and found a letter from Kwikspell, a correspondence course in beginners’ magic. And I know I shouldn’t have, but I was curious, so I pulled out the sheaf of parchment inside and read some of it. When Filch returned I quickly place all the parchment back into the envelope and place it back on the desk. But it wasn’t back where I found it and Filch was afraid I had read it. I said I hadn’t. Yes, I know, I shouldn’t lie, but I didn’t want the change even more detentions, not if professor Lockhart would volunteer again to give them to me. Only Filch was so upset about it that he told me to leave and I didn’t get any detention at all.
On my way to the Slytherin dungeon, Nearly Headless Nick caught up with me and asked if it had worked. He had persuaded Peeves to crash a vanishing cabinet right over Filch’s office. I thanked Nick for his efforts and told him it had worked, that I got away without punishment. To thank him I wanted to help him with the Headless Hunt, but I didn’t know how. Nick said it was okay, and that there was something else I could do for him. I could come to his five-hundredths death-day on Halloween. He said I didn’t have to if I rather go to the school feast. Only a death-day party sounded much better than sitting as only Slytherin at the Gryffindor table during a feast because the people from my own house don’t like me or pretend I don’t exist. And there would be no way to escape Draco at the party, seeing him being all friendly and nice with Pansy, Daphne, Nott, Crabbe and Goyle. I hate seeing him hang out again with the people that almost killed me last year. So I said I would come. Nick said I was allowed to bring a friend if I wanted to, so I invited Hermione, Ron and Neville.
Ron and Neville said they wouldn’t come, too eager to join their other Gryffindor friends at the Halloween feast and eat way too much food. Hermione was intrigued. (See Draco, I can also use fancy words, bastard.) She thought it was going to be fascinating. Ron opted that it would probably be depressing and that made me think, what if it is really depressing? Should I be going then? I’ve already been feeling so sad lately. I don’t want to make it worse. I don’t want to start crying in front of others. When I do it when I’m alone it’s fine, right. It’s okay that I feel sad all the time because Draco doesn’t want me anymore, right? I’m not crazy, am I mom? I just feel so alone without him.
The party turned out to be okay. Nearly Headless Nick welcomed us at the door and there was a lot of ghost at the party. It was an incredible sight. I was happy I had put on a think sweater underneath my robes because it was freezing cold. And the music was horrible. It sounded like a thousand fingernails scraping an enormous blackboard. Hermione and I couldn’t eat the food, because it was all rotten and moulded. It’s here I met Moaning Myrtle, a young girl ghost who lives in the girls’ bathroom on the first floor. She has a glum face, half-hidden behind lank hair and thick, pearly spectacles. She thinks everyone is constantly making fun of her and she cries quickly. I wish there was something I could do for her, to make her feel better, but I think she will always be a sad ghost.
But the worsted of the night happened when Hermione and I left the party. We were halfway the hallway towards the stairs to the entrance hall when I heard that voice again. You remember, the one I heard when I had detention with Professor Lockhart. It said it was hungry and that it was time to kill. It was moving upwards and I ran after the sound, up the stairs, into the entrance hall, and then up to the first floor. Hermione followed me and it became clear quickly that she couldn’t hear the voice. I told her it was going to kill someone. It was saying it smelled blood and I was afraid I would be too late to stop it. I ran after it, turning corners until I arrived into a deserted passage. And there it was, written on the wall: The chamber of secrets has been opened. Enemies of the heir, beware. And Filch cat Mrs Norris was hanging underneath it, stiff as a board, her eyes wide and staring. I wanted to help, but Hermione said we needed to get out of there.
But it was too late. The feast had ended and from either end of the corridor where we were standing came the sound of feet climbing the stairs. The next moment, students were crashing into the passage from both ends. They all fell quiet when they spotted the hanging cat. Hermione and I stood alone, in the middle of the corridor, as silence fell among the mass of students pressing forward to see the grisly sight. And worst off all was Argus Filch that came shouldering his way through the crowd. When he saw Mrs Norris he fell back and clutched his face in horror. For a short moment, I felt sorry for the man until he started screeching that I had murdered his cat.
Headmaster Dumbledore arrived at that point and I was glad to see him. He would never think I would be able to murder a cat. The headmaster detached the cat and asked Filch, Hermione and me to follow him. Lockhart told us we could use his office and off we went. Professor Snape and Professor McGonagall followed as well, being the heads of our houses. In the office headmaster Dumbledore examined the cat and told us she was not dead but petrified and that no second year would be able to do that, because it was the most advanced Dark Magic.
But that didn’t satisfy Filch, he kept blaming me. He said it was because I knew he was a Squib. But at that moment I didn’t even know what a Squib was. Filch said I knew because I had seen his Kwikspell letter. It was Professor Snape that then said that maybe Hermione and I had just been at the wrong place at the wrong time. But that it was suspicious that we were in the upstairs corridor instead of at the Halloween feast. I didn’t know what to answer. I didn’t think saying I had heard a voice that wanted to kill was going to do me any good. So I was very glad when Hermione explained that we had gone to Nearly Headless Nick’s death-day party and that I was simply escorting Hermione back to her own common room. Snape than asked why we didn’t join the feast after the party and Hermione said that she was feeling really tired and just wanted to go to bed.
Professor McGonagall than raised her voice at Hermione, asking she would lead me to the Gryffindor common room. But Headmaster Dumbledore simply answered that I had known the location since Christmas break last year, when he had given the Weasleys permission to take me there, so I wouldn’t have to spend all my time alone in the Slytherin common room. I couldn’t believe my ears, the headmaster was telling a lie to help us out. Isn’t that amazing.
After that, we were allowed to go and Hermione pulled me into an empty classroom as soon as we were far enough away from Professor Lockhart’s office. I know she is worried, about me hearing voices and she said it was a good choice not to tell them, it would only make me look guilty. She also explained to me what a Squid is, it’s someone born into a wizarding family without any magic, but I’m sure you would have already known that.
Hermione hugged me and then we both went our separate ways. Hermione up the west tower and me down to the dungeon. All my roommates were already asleep when I got there and I went to bed quickly. It wasn’t until the next morning that the Slytherins heard about the attack on Mrs Norris and that I had been in the middle of it all. I got asked if I had lost us any points and when I guaranteed them I hadn’t most of them let it go, except of course Nott and Crabbe. They keep joking that I will go after the Mudbloods next, me the great Harry Potter, the heir of Slytherin.
Oh, and something is up with Draco. He seems very disturbed about what happened to Mrs Norris. And that’s just weird because Draco hates cats. He has kept to himself all day, hiding away in his bed, writing in this little notebook he has. He even told Nott to get the hell away from him. I wish I knew what was going on with him. I hate seeing him like this. He looks paler than usual and he didn’t even bother to style his hair today. I think something is bothering him. But I’ll probably never learn what it is since mister “I pretend you don’t exist Harry” won’t speak to me.
I’m going to meet Hermione in the library now. I write to you again soon.
Love Harry James Potter.

Summary: It was hard for Ginny Weasley to find hope in the aftermath of the Battle Of Hogwarts.
                                             Chapter 1
Ginny Weasley was standing over a Death Eater's corpse. At some point during the battle she has lost count of how many lives she took, a part of her didn't care and she couldn't really deal with the other part; the part that wanted to throw up and cry in a corner somewhere. She's been keeping everything in check for over a year, not feeling anything, trying to survive, making sure that her friends stayed alive and trying to keep Hogwarts from burning to the ground.
Glancing up from the dead body she could see her best friend Neville in the distance fighting two of them, barely hanging on trying to duck and fire spells at both of them. She knew he could handle it, they made sure of it. They've been training, they were all ready but Ginny couldn't help but worry because Neville didn't want to cross the line. He didn't want to kill any of them, he believed they were misled. There's been arguments among the DA about the right and wrong of it all. And Ginny just wanted to save her loved ones no matter what she had to do.
She closed her eyes briefly. Fred. She couldn't save him, she felt suffocating sadness trying to overwhelm her but she had to push it down, she couldn't stop and process anything that was happening; she had to be all action and logic. She couldn't take a moment to think about the fact that she'd just seen Ron for the first time in a year and their reunion included witnessing their brother's death. They both knew they couldn't sit, cry, and deal with the trauma; they had to keep going. That was the hardest part; wanting to give up, wanting to just lie down and die but not being able to because people depended on you, because you had to be strong even though nothing seemed to matter anymore. And it was really messed up that all she wanted was to immediately hug Ron and thank the heavens he was okay but instead they had to watch their brother take his last breath. Ginny felt panic beginning to settle in again as she though of Fred, she knew she was about to lose herself in a dark bottomless pit if she didn't control her thoughts and emotions, she had to set everything aside once again, she had to keep fighting; she had to make sure his death meant something.
Behind the wall next to Neville she spotted a Death Eater sneaking up on him ready to fire a curse. Her body sprung into action as she sprinted towards him, jumping over bodies and leaping over bricks as she raised her wand with perfect aim.
"Reducto!"
The Death Eater went flying back from the force of the spell, a hole appearing in his chest where his heart used to be. Neville turned around at her voice, sweat dripping down his face. They nodded at each other once she reached him as they both started to fight the Death Eaters in front of them.
"Ginny! Neville!" They were both too busy fighting the two scumbags to turn towards Luna's voice, but Ginny knew something was wrong. Luna rarely, if ever, raised her voice. She let out a grunt in frustration as she fought; until finally disarming him and quickly using a stunning spell before turning to Luna she was covered in blood the color mixing morbidly with her dirty blonde hair.
"What is it?"
She could see Neville was still fighting his guy from her peripheral vision.
"I tried to stop them...but they got them- two second years! I was supposed to protect them...I tried Ginny."
Shit. Knowing that Neville finally dealt with the Death Eater, she grabbed both his arm and Luna's and dragged them running until they crouched behind a big brick that has fallen from one of the towers.
"Who took them?" Ginny immediately asked.
"I don't know. They were wearing masks."
"What are we going to do? We can't leave in the middle of battle." Neville said looking at her, waiting for her agreement.
He was right. They were under their protection, but Ginny had to be logical here. They were most likely dead and it wasn't like the first time they had lost kids. People needed them here, it was war and their place was in the middle of it. For a minute Ginny couldn't believe her thoughts, she was knowingly giving up on two kids. She knew they were in danger and they might already be dead or they were trying to recruit them, she knew it wasn't the right thing to do. But it was the tactical and tough decision that she had to make.
"They're probably dead."
"Ginny!" Luna protested instantly. "I know it's not the smartest decision to look for them, but I was in charge of them Gin. I can't just-" She paused, voice breaking, before she looked her in the eyes. "I'll look for them. With or without you."
Damn it, Luna. She thought to herself.
"Do you know where they took them?"
"Before I passed out, I saw them making their way to the Forbidden Forest." Her eyes suddenly glazed over and Ginny knew she was having one of her visions, or senses as she sometimes referred to them.
A figure suddenly dropped down next to them, it was Padma and she looked at them in panic.
"I can't find Parvati!" She cried. "I don't know what happened, I was fighting right next to her, and I turned around and she...oh god I-"
"Hey hey, Padma, take a breath." Neville raised a palm to her shoulder calmly. "We'll find her, okay? Just try and breathe."
Padma tried to nod but she was visibly shaking.
"Okay...right. She's fine. We'll find her." It really felt as if she was trying to convince herself, but in that moment it was as if they all had the same thought, shared the same feeling. It was that gut feeling that you get that told you something was wrong, someone was dead. And with that, Ginny has made a decision.
"Alright, Neville, you go with Padma and try to keep track of all DA members." She turned to Luna. "You're with me."
Padma sniffled. "Where are you going?"
"To look for two second years, they were taken."
"That's terrible, but Ginny, we need you here. Everyone needs to be here right now." Padma said, her shaking lessened slightly.
"Yeah, Ginny, I really hate to say this, but are we sure this is the best plan?"
"I can't let Luna go alone...and she's right. They are our responsibility." She hated how jaded they all became. They saw so many kids tortured and killed that it was in debate right then whether it was smart to leave and save them or not. Ginny felt so sick that for a second she thought she was actually going to throw up. They had to find them and they had to be alive. They just had to.
"Hell, I know- I know. Alright, I'm going with you then."
"No, you're not, the three of us can't go, you're needed here and Padma needs you-"
"I'll be fine." She interrupted with a shaking breath.
"Oh god, Ginny, I feel them. "Luna breathed from beside her, her eyes have gone so cloudy they were almost just white."No no no, they're in so much pain. We have to go now!" Luna raised a hand to her mouth trying to silent her sob as she finally came back to herself, eyes natural grey again.
"Okay, " Ginny looked quickly to Neville and Padma putting a hand on each of their shoulders. "Just stick together and we'll be back as soon as we can."
They all stood up and eyed each other in worry, it was not goodbye; they would meet again, they've been through way too much not to.
Neville stepped towards Ginny and Luna and threw his arms around them, holding them tight. "Be careful, please."
"You too." Luna mumbled.
"Uh...Nev, you should probably let go now." Ginny told him after a moment only half teasing, she didn't necessarily want to end the hug, but they were literally surrounded by chaos and people falling to their death. Ginny still made sure to smile at him when he finally pulled back.
She turned to Padma."I hope you find your sister."
"Me too. I will." She uttered with conviction.
"Be safe, alright?" They both nodded their heads in answer.
And with that Ginny and Luna took off, leaving Hogwarts grounds and marching straight into the Forbidden Forest.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ginny and Luna were trying to to be as quiet as they can, they had to be stealthy, fast, and silent. Luna was leading the way based on what she was sensing and Ginny was trying to form a plan-any kind of plan that she can put into action once they find them. If they find them. They had to take their time and be strategic about whatever situation they might be walking into.
Ginny's steps came to a halt as she raised an arm to stop Luna in her tracks. She heard something just then or maybe she felt it.
"Did you hear that?"
"No, what do you hear?"
"Let's hope I'm just being paranoid." She answered as they started to walk again.
But Ginny knew she wasn't being paranoid. She felt something and then a wave of realization hit her. Voldemort was here. She could feel him. Ever since the diary she always had these moments as if she could feel him watching her, or sense that he was near. And right then it was stronger than ever. And if Voldemort were there, she wondered if Harry were too, Ginny felt a sharp pang of fear and dread for him that she had to quickly push deep down to focus on the mission. Even though she wasn't sure, she wanted to tell Luna to stop and go back and let her find the second years. Ginny wanted to stay so she could face Voldemort, finally confront him and help Harry defeat him, but she knew Luna wouldn't leave her.
"It's that way." Luna suddenly whispered, her voice so soft and airy, Ginny knew she was lost in her own mind, she didn't have to see her eyes to know they have probably gone white.
As they approached the area Luna pointed out, Ginny could hear voices laughing and then a second later there were screams. They were crying out in pain and Ginny felt her stomach hurt as she and Luna sped up until they were close enough to hide behind a tree and observe the scene.
Ginny quickly evaluated the situation. Only two Death Eaters, thankfully. Then her eyes zoned in on the two kids tied against the tree and she recognized them immediately. Isaac and Allison. When she looked them over, it felt as if all air left her body. Aside from the tears and sheer pain on their faces. Their clothes were ripped. Oh god no no no not that. Her mind was screaming at her to just run in and get them, her body was dying to go in for the kill; but they had to wait and assess their next course of action.
Before Ginny could turn around to Luna, a child emerged suddenly from behind one of the Death Eaters. She couldn't have been more than twelve and while she had the body of child, she didn't carry herself like one. She couldn't believe that these two pieces of shit let that kid watch. Ginny tried to take a better look As the little girl walked closer and she could somewhat see her face and eyes; they were calm, no fear whatsoever. She looked almost demonic.
"Well, that was a waste of my time." The girl looked at the two men with boredom. "Now that you've had your fun. Please go away, so I can enjoy killing them in peace."
Luna let out a small gasp from beside her, Ginny's eyes were wide in shock. She felt Luna take a step forward before she grabbed her and pulled her back with a shake of her head that told her they needed to think first. She knew that Voldemort and Death Eaters were recruiting kids, but she had never actually seen one. The two men looked at the child with respect, almost fear.
"You can, of course, have the kill, " One of them responded. "But we have orders to never leave your side, Akkila."
Akkila. Akkila Carrow. Ginny and Luna shared a look, of course they've heard of her and how ruthless she was but the rumours never mentioned she was a bloody twelve year old. Nobody knew why she never joined the Carrows at Hogwarts.
"I don't care what orders you've been given. When I tell you to leave. You leave." Her voice was ice cold and Ginny felt a shiver run through her.
"Okay so, you'll take the one on the right and I'll take the left." She whispered to Luna.
"And Akkila?"
"Stunning spells only." She didn't want to think about how awful and sinister that little girl was. They weren't going to kill her.
"Oh, Ginny."Luna sighed and when Ginny looked at her, her eyes were cloudy yet again.
"What is it?"
"I don't think this going to end well."
Damn it, Luna.
"Did you...see or feel something?"
Her gaze shot up to Ginny's. "It doesn't matter. We don't have a choice." Her voice was small and sad.
She didn't have time to dissect that statement.
"How dare you disobey me?"
Ginny and Luna turned back to watch Akkila raise her wand and with no hesitation she fired the Killing Curse.
She could see that Akkila was too far gone. And Ginny wasn't surprised given who she was and how she was raised, but that didn't stop the disgust and disbelief at the sight in front of her. There was only Akkila and one Death Eater left, getting rid of them was going to be easy.
"Gin."
"Yeah?"
"Remember what I told you."
Really, Luna? Ginny thought. You expect me to remember everything you've ever told me?
"You have to give me more than that, L."
"You'll know."
Giving her a confused look. "I don't think we have time for riddles."
"We were in the library."
"Bloody hell! Which time!?" She whisper-shouted.
Luna looked at her then, something about her eyes made Ginny pause as she felt Luna's hand on her shoulder. "You know."
And it was as if she transferred the exact memory into Ginny's mind. She remembered exactly which time she was talking about. They had been sitting in the Library late one night studying; but Luna had felt bad all day even if she were trying not to show it. Some students had been calling her names and they were in the middle of pulling a very cruel prank, when Ginny had intervened for the third time that week. Ginny had stayed with her after it happened and had tried everything to cheer her up. She had cracked jokes and had told her a few hilarious Fred and George stories; but nothing'd worked. So Ginny had decided to just sit with her in silence, until she had suddenly spoken up.
"You're the best friend anybody could ever ask for, Ginny Weasley." She had stated staring out of the Library's window.
Ginny smiled. "Aw! You're a pretty great friend too, L."
Luna looked at her with a grin. "Oh! L ...I like that."
Ginny smiled softly at the memory, but looked at Luna in confusion. "Why that memory?"
It was a stupid question, deep down Ginny knew why. But there was no way she was going to let whatever was about to happen to actually happen.
"You're my best friend, Ginny."
"Luna-"
But she didn't get to finish. Luna sat up and looked down at her. "It's time."
Ginny nodded, standing up as well, making sure that all her daggers were in place and slowly they walked around the tree they were hiding behind. Without warning, Luna charged for Akkila aiming her wand.
"Stupefy!"
Ginny didn't wait to see if it hit the target, she ran towards the other Death Eater.
He deflected her attempt trying to stun him and fired back his own. She could hear Luna and Akkila sparring beside her. Curses were being fired in every direction.
"Expelliarmus!" He yelled, smirking at her because he knew she didn't expect him to use that spell. Ginny groaned in frustration when it hit her and she felt her wand flying out of her hand.
Acting quickly not waiting for her wand to reach him, she ran forward, her body slid across the ground once she was close enough she kicked her leg hard against his shin; successfully tripping him, his wand falling from his hand. Both of their wands were on the ground, Ginny immediately went for her wand, throwing her body towards it but he grabbed her ankle and dragged her back before flipping her around.
"Bitch!"
"Right back at ya." She growled, pulling her knee up and kicking him right in the balls. He glowered in pain, instantly releasing her.
Pushing him back, she moved to stand and he readily followed. Both leaving their wands behind, Ginny took a quick second to glance at Luna, she didn't need any help she was gracefully ducking and dodging as she shot a spell after spell at Akkila. She checked the two second years still tied to the tree and unconscious.
Pulling her attention back to her enemy, he was grinning before he advanced on her with a punch, she ducked, moving a step to the side twirling around until she was behind him. She raised her right knee and as hard as she could kicked him in the spine, he yelled out; dropping to his knees. Ginny quickly grabbed his hair and pulled; with her other hand extracted the dagger she kept on her right hip, lifting her arm back; she swung it back down around to his neck and slit his throat. Blood splattered onto her hand and the ground. She let his body go and it hit the ground with a thump.
"Ah!"
She turned around to see her friend tied to a huge tree the branches and roots wrapping themselves around her body tightly.
Ginny silently searched around for her wand, but sadly she wasn't that lucky. Akkila's head whipped around in her direction smiling maniacally.
"Oh no. You killed one of my own." She said monotonously. "I'll have to kill you now...well, I was going to kill you anyway."
Ginny has spotted her wand and as discreetly as possible she made a step towards it. But it was too late, Akkila's snake eyes caught it.
"Accio Wand!"
Both her wand and the dead Death Eater's flew right into her tiny hands.
"Look at that! I've got all of your wands." She pouted mockingly. "And I'm a twelve year old. This is embarrassing."
She pocketed two of the wands, leaving two; one in each hand.
"Listen, you don't want to do this, please." Ginny tried feebly; she knew it was no use but she didn't want to hurt her.
"But I do."
"You're very young and confused, it's not your fault...you just need help."
Akkila stared at Ginny incredulously. "Are you being serious? I'm about to kill both of you and this is your argument?"
"Listen, there's hope for you, you don't have to be like your family. You have a choice."
"Don't talk about my family." She snarled. "Don't talk to me like you know me."
"You're right, I don't. But I do know what it is like to feel like you can't control your life, to be used as just a pawn in someone else's plans."
"Oh, do you now?"
"Different circumstances, but yes. I bet everything's been decided for you since you came into this world; you never had a choice. But you have one now. You can make the right one."
Akkila laughed, the sound sadistic and unnatural. "You're funny, Weasley."
Ginny's shock must have shown on her face.
"Why are you so surprised? Of course I know who you are; after all we were counting on you trying to find these weaklings." She tilted her head in Allison and Isaac's direction.
"You're deeply despised in my world. Your entire family, actually, is on my list of people I want to kill before the end of the night."
She went too far.
"Careful." Ginny's voice was deadly calm, but the warning was more than clear in her tone.
"Ooh, I'm so scared." She lifted her head to the sky. "Help me, Almighty God! Ginny Weasley; the girl who couldn't fight a diary is threatening me."
Ginny's heart was beating wildly in her chest, she was about to lose her temper. She didn't want to think about how that little brat acquired this information, she didn't want to think about Death Eaters having information on her and her family. She wanted to focus on her anger.
"You should be scared." Luna spoke suddenly, her voice cutting through the tension in the air.
Akkila's eyes never left Ginny as she responded to Luna." You know, I have no idea why you're still alive, Freak."
"Don't call her that."
"I'll do far more than just call her a Freak." She replied with a scoff, talking to Ginny as she took a step closer in Luna's direction, one of the wand pointed at her."I was going to make you kill her yourself, but I know for a fact that you know how to resist the Imperius curse. So...I'll just settle for you watching me have all the fun!"
"Crucio!"
Luna's screams instantly pierced their ears.
"Stop!"
But before Ginny could move the curse was flipped on her, she immediately fell writhing on the ground in excruciating pain; she's been through this enough times but it never got easier, nothing could ever prepare you for a pain that you can feel in every single bone in your body as if they were all breaking at the same time over and over again. It was as if somebody setting you on fire from the inside. Everything just burned. While she couldn't get used to it, Ginny has learned to try and push through it; she whimpered trying to move her head.
"Please stop, don't...make me." She couldn't even hear her own voice through her sharp gasps, her lungs letting out a scream.
She couldn't think, she tried to move her body but she couldn't muster enough energy, the pain was blinding.
"Sadly, I'm not even sure if you can hear me right now, but I'm going to kill your friend."
Somehow Ginny got herself to look up, grunting loudly. Through her blurred vision, she could make out Akkila raising the other wand towards Luna; even though she couldn't focus on her, she could tell she was looking at her, trying to tell her it was okay.
Ginny wasn't going to lose anyone else, losing her brother and best friend on the same day was just not an option. There had to be a way, through her agony she prayed for a miracle, she prayed for a sliver of strength to get her to move.
Akkila's wand was at the ready.
Ginny was fighting her body, pushing through the pain and achingly slow tried to reach for her dagger.
Akkila was smiling at Luna in triumph.
"Ple-please don't!"
Ginny was groaning and grunting trying to cling onto the dagger once she was able to hold it.
"Avada-"
"NO!" She shrieked, swinging her arm back before throwing the dagger at Akkila with all the power she has left.
The pain suddenly stopped and Ginny gasped in relief, breathing harshly, she blinked, there were dots swimming in her vision, her heart was beating way too fast; it felt like she was about to pass out and maybe she did because a while later she began to feel her surroundings again.
"Ginny."
She tiredly lifted her head at her friend's voice; who was now kneeling beside her and sighed in relief. She was alive. The tree must have let her go after Akkila stopped.
"Wa - wait, is she...?"
Luna didn't meet her eyes. "Yes."
She tried to stand up, but her legs gave out from under her.
"Ginny, you need a minute, you were under the Cruciatus for a while."
"Help me to her."
She threw her arm around Luna's shoulder; while Luna wrapped hers around Ginny's waist. Together they stumbled their way over till they reached her body. She was scared to look down, she didn't want to see it, but she couldn't help it; she had to see for herself. Her eyes finally moved to the body, the dagger has struck her on the forehead; her eyes were staring up unseeing. She was dead.
She has just killed a kid.
She let go of Luna, moving quickly to a nearby tree and emptying her stomach. She didn't know how long she sat by the tree vomiting; she couldn't process what just happened, it was like remembering a memory that you didn't live. I had no choice. She kept repeating the words in her mind, hoping the words would calm her somehow, but she knew nothing would've helped her. I had no choice. Breathe breathe breathe. She couldn't even focus on the fact that her body was weeping in pain. She was mentally and physically drained. Breathe breathe breathe.
"Ginny."
She directed her gaze in the voice's direction, it was Allison and beside her stood Isaac and Luna. They were okay, they were alive. Focus on that, She thought to herself.
Her mind has slowly started to clear, she took a deep breath, before sluggishly standing up. "We need to go back."
They all quietly agreed; making their way through the Forest. She appreciated the silence but it was too dark, she wished they could use Lumos but they couldn't risk someone seeing them.
That was when she felt it again. Voldemort.
As they kept walking, it intensified, she wondered why Luna didn't say anything. Did she even sense anything. Or was it just Ginny because she was connected to Voldemort somehow. Peering ahead she thought she saw a few figures in the distance; the shapes got clearer as they got closer.
"Do you guys see that?" Isaac asked from behind her.
But Ginny didn't respond, because the one thing that was flashing in her mind was that one of the figures was Harry, she was sure of it; with her heart in her throat she started walking faster, leaving the others behind.
"Ginny!" Luna tried to keep her voice low."Don't. Ginny!"
But she didn't stop, she started running forward, her mind racing until she could finally view the scene clearly. Her heart dropped as her eyes fell on Harry for the first time in over a year. His back was to her, facing Voldemort and his little minions; they were both just staring at each other. She felt Luna come up behind her and was aware enough to know that she has cast a Muffliato Charm around them. What is Harry doing? She thought. What is happening?
And then her world crumbled.
She felt her her heart stop beating. It happened so fast - too fast.
"Avada Kedavra!"
She felt her mouth react before her mind could register as she wailed in agonizing devastation, the sound filling the space around them. Ginny felt a heavy weight crushing down her heart and squeezing it in a death grip as pure panic rose so sudden and fast, consuming every fiber of her body, paralyzing her as everything within her soul prayed for death, because she knew it would be a relief from this crippling pain that was washing over her, making her choke on her breath, struggling to breathe through the overwhelming tightness in her chest.
And then her body jumped into action with vengeance as she stepped forward but before she could take one step, Luna's arm caught her around the waist, pulling her back and holding her tight in place, as she put a hand on her mouth to silence her.
"Ginny, please, I was never that good at Muffliato. They might hear us."
Ginny was struggling so hard against Luna that she feared she might hurt her. She didn't know her friend was that strong, Luna never really liked to get overly physical with her training.
"Ginny, we are massively outnumbered. There's nothing you can do."
She managed to rip Luna's hand away, growling. "Let me go! I don't want to hurt you!"
She heard her gasp. "Oh wait. I can still sense his Aura."
Ginny wasn't in the right mind to digest the words. The only thing on her mind was getting to Voldemort and avenging Harry's death. Fred's. Avenging everyone's death.
With a grunt she elbowed Luna hard in the guts, hearing her yelp in pain and falling to the ground. Ginny didn't look back; she held her wand with determination. As she started moving towards her target, she heard Luna's voice from behind her.
"Petrificus Totalus!"
Ginny's entire body stiffened, as the Spell worked its way over her limbs, incapable of moving, she felt her body falling backwards two arms catching her around the waist, trying to hold her up.
"I'm sorry, Ginny."
Her wide eyes looked onward to the scene that would be imprinted in her memory forever. Harry's dead body on the ground.
Harry. The person that before a year ago was one of her best friends. She thought at some point that they were each other's closest friend, until one day he had disappeared with Ron and Hermione; and she felt betrayed and she was so mad at him, especially because she knew what he was doing, even if she didn't know the details at first, it wasn't difficult to guess what they were doing. But none of that mattered then, they ran out of time. They were never going to fight about it. She was never going to see him again, was never going to make him laugh or smile. She was never going to hear his voice again.
Her frozen eyes observed Hagrid; whom she didn't even notice was there, pick Harry's body off the ground and into his arms. She felt Luna slowly trying to move back so she can rest Ginny's body on the ground.
She felt tears silently stream down her face as she caught a final glimpse of Harry; before her eyes were gazing up at the night sky.

Yeah, so that harry potter x good omens crossover is eating my brain right now and as I have another story that people are interested in, I thought I would throw this masterpost out there in the hopes that the plot bunnies will just shush and let me finish Uriel’s chapter, please dear god. Okay here we go!
This is a human AU, obviously, which takes place in the school year after the Last Battle. Both Aziraphale and Crowley come from old pureblood families, the Knights and the Rooks, which tie up about four generations back through a shared matriarch (God, or in this case, Frances). The Knights tend towards Hufflepuff while the Rooks tend towards Ravenclaw. Aziraphale is a Slytherin, Crowley a Gryffindor.
The two of them threw themselves out of their families for a variety of reasons- Aziraphale left his family because they decided to flee Great Britain rather than stay and resist Voldemort, Crowley because he refused to join up. The two now go by Fell and Crowley respectively (the Knight who Fell off his horse and the Crow in the Rookery, hehe, i love puns). Aziraphale spent his time forging family trees and any other needed documents, Crowley went more on the smuggling muggleborns out of the country/hiding resistance members route than front line fighting.
Aziraphale has his bookshop, yes, it does have magical tomes but in his defense, the muggles just think they’re nifty fiction/old timey recipe books by obscure authors, Crowley is assisting the goblins with investments in the muggle world in between little bouts of mischief and tending to his greenhouse. Of course Crowley speaks parseltongue and of course he is a snake animagus.
So, the battle happened, all dramatic, yay Voldieshorts is dead. Only now McGonagall has been appointed Headmistress and is trying to put things in order for the first school year since the war (side note: do not envy her, how the frick do you do that? Kids were tortured for a year, kids DIED, other kids refused to fight their families and friends, what about all those muggleborns who didn’t get their letter that year? OWL and NEWT students, what do you do about them? Did seventh years like Neville actually graduate? And how do you explain to new parents that hey, we just had a war about your child’s right to an education but don’t worry, that’s totally solved now??). So, Slughorn has read the writing on the wall. Dude knows his politics and knows that if his house is to survive, they’re going to need a new Head of House, one who isn’t attached to the wrong side of war. He agrees to stay on as Potions Master for a few years, because Merlin knows they already have too many vacancies, but someone else needs to be the face of his House. His mind immediately goes to Aziraphale, with whom he’s kept in contact over the years. Bright man, kind man, gentle-looking man, that one. But underneath? Oh, there’s fire and steel, exactly what the new House Head is going to need to walk that fine line between the defeated purebloods, the student collaborators, veterans, and victims, the ascendant anti-pureblood coalition. Someone who looks non-threatening enough but who will walk through hell to protect his students, even from themselves.
McGonagall goes to the shop to recruit him and he eventually agrees, once Crowley also signs on (because he ain’t letting Aziraphale walk into that den of wolves alone, they’re on their own side, thanks, and because Crowley likes kids and knows how shit this is gonna be and well, he can help okay?). McGonagall smirks and hands him the Head of Gryffindor job along with the Transfiguration job. Crowley just gapes at her because like, he’s never seen himself as any kind of authority figure and now he’s doubly one??? Like wtf? McGonagall calmly points out she can’t be the Head because she’s Headmistress and there aren’t any Gryffindors remaining on staff. Aziraphale, bastard that he is, just laughs and laughs at the situation. Yes, dear, it’s quite unfair. Yes, dear, I’m sure you’ll be the cool professor. He will be pulling triple duty as Head of Slytherin and Arithmancy and Ancient Runes Professor.
They share quarters and an office at Hogwarts because why not? Poor Crowley just aches for all his kids, from the second years determined to protect the firsties and help their year mates catch up to Ginny, who lost a brother and fought so hard, to Neville who led the student resistance to Harry Potter and his friends themselves. They’re not saviors, they’re kids and they’re hurting and there’s no going back for them, not really. He does his best by them, teaches Neville about the more obscure plants he’s smuggled into the castle, sits with the kids who are homesick or afraid or who can’t sleep (he visits the common room nightly and distracts them with wild tales or card games with special treats), helps the older ones navigate their new world. Because it’s hard, sitting in class with kids who at best did nothing and at worst had an active hand in torturing your friends. He and Aziraphale feel like they spend half their time trying to keep their Houses from literally killing each other and it is just so sad.
Aziraphale, though, has the harder job. They both know that. How do you deescalate a situation like Slytherin House after the war? Half your students have been taught that their way is right and can’t deal with the loss, the other half just want to survive school and forget everything that’s happened, all of them have close family dead or imprisoned due to their actions in the war. How do you find compassion for kids like them? How do you protect them from the school and how do you protect the school from them? Aziraphale finds that way, that love. They’re still kids, at the end of the day, even the eldest, even the ones who participated. They need help and Aziraphale is that guide for them, a guardrail. Sure, some of the Slytherins initially think that because he’s soft and gentle and kind that somehow he is weak, a pushover. He is not and they learn that very quickly. I choose to be what I want to be every day, so do you, he tells them, in a way they can understand. Not your families, not your friends, you.

Harry Potter: What the Movies Got Right
Because the movies get a lot of shit for the ways that they differ from the books, here is a way too overly-detailed list of moments from the Harry Potter films which IN MY OPINION improve upon the source material.
Sorcerer’s Stone:
The Norbert Storyline: Cutting out the whole midnight hand-off of Norbert to Charlie’s friends story-line was a good move. It slowed down the plot in the book, and come on, how were Charlie’s friends able to sneak into Hogwarts in the first place? There are literally entire chapters of people trying to figure out ways around the schools security.
 Chamber of Secrets:
Nothing to add, the book and movie are almost entirely one and the same (Sure wish they’d followed through with this on some of the other movies. Lookin at you Half-Blood Prince).
-ONE THING THOUGH; at the end when Harry tricks Lucius Malfoy into freeing Dobby and you can hear him start to cast ‘Avada Kedavra’ at Harry. It’s a small and HILARIOUS addition. Like, really Lucius? The killing curse? At this little twelve-year-old, right in front of Dumbledore’s office, in broad day-light, over literally nothing? I heard somewhere that this was because Jason Isaacs thought he should say some spell but nothing was scripted, and Avada Kedavra was the only one he could think of. But it’s just really funny to think about Lucius legit about to murder a kid in public over losing his house-elf.
 Prisoner of Azkaban:
-Aunt Marge’s Big Mistake: I love that Marge blows up and floats out of the house, rather than just bouncing off the walls like in the book. Hysterical!
-Lupin scenes: Lupin talking about how Lilly “was there for me at a time when no one else was” and how she had a gift for finding beauty in people “even and most importantly when that person could not see it in themselves”… just… fucking David Thewlis man. Actually, all the Harry & Lupin conversations in the movie have this sweet parental energy that was mostly there in the books, it just feels so much more potent here thanks do Dan & David’s incredible chemistry.
-Harry’s Patronus Lessons: the powerful memory that finally gets him to cast the spell is thinking about his parents talking with him. Kind of an understated change from the books, but it helps to underscore that the memory doesn’t need to be big or even all that happy, just emotionally poignant.
-“WHY DON’T YOU RUN ALONG AND PLAY WITH YOUR CHEMISTY SET?!?!?!?”
-Snape protects the kids: Even though Snape was being a dick the entire time in the Shrieking Shack, he still acts as a HUMAN FUCKING SHIELD between the kids and Wolf Lupin and even takes a blow to the chest while protecting them. Book Snape was unconscious the whole time. Also, Movie Snape is so much more sympathetic than Book Snape, fight me. More on this down the line.
 Goblet of Fire:
-Really scraping the bottom of the barrel here, because there ain’t much.
-David Tenant is fun as hell as Barty Crouch Jr: I mean, there isn’t much fleshed out motivation in the character in the movie besides being bat-shit-fucking-crazy, but hey, it’s fun to watch! Also, I love the added detail (which I believe was improvised by Tenant) of Jr’s lip twitch and how this gives him away when he’s pretending to be Moody in front of Crouch Sr.
-Cedric’s bravery: It’s a very small thing, but in the book when Cedric and Harry realize something’s off in the graveyard, they don’t really react much, or even say anything. When Harry’s scar stars burning, my man Cedric has enough presence of mind to draw his wand, ask Harry what’s wrong, takes a defensive stance, and shouts “Who are you? What do you want?” bravely to an approaching Pettigrew. Guy spends his last few moments being an absolute champ. Hollywood did you wrong Robert Pat.
 Order of the Pheonix:
-The DA training sequences: They’re wonderful and full of teen-whimsiness and the score makes me happy. Seriously, go listen to the ‘Dumbledore’s Army’ track, it’ll make your day! https://youtu.be/fZane0CwAGg

youtube
Harry’s cheesy one liner which somehow still manages to be great: “Every great wizard has started out as nothing more than what we are now, students. If they can do it, why not us?”
-Neville’s Character growth: “We’re gonna make them proud Neville. That’s a promise.” Man, I really wish there had been scenes of Harry and Neville talking about their families in the books. There’s so much that they share in terms of past traumas. I like that they bring it up in the film, even if it’s a very quick scene.
-Fred and George: It’s been said before, but the scene with Fred and George comforting a young student who’s had the Umbridge hand-slicing treatment is UNPRECEDENTED and I LOVE it. This helps show them as more than just loveable jokesters.
-“Neville Longbottom is it? How’s mum and dad” “Better, now that they’re about to be avenged!” FOUR FOR YOU NEVILLE LONBOTTOM, YOU GO NEVILLE LONGBOTTOM!
-Possession: I’m gonna be honest, this movie is my next-to-least-favorite of the adaptations. I’d be prepared to write it off as a bad movie altogether if it weren’t for the way they decide to end with the Ministry battle: In the book, Voldemort finishes dueling Dumbledore and starts possessing Harry, who tells Dumbledore to kill him. Possessed Harry says: “Kill me Dumbledore, death is nothing compared to this. Kill me. And I’ll see Sirius again.” This moment is really quick, and it’s not really made clear until the next book that Harry’s love and grief in this moment is what drove Voldemort out. In the movie, the scene gets more time and attention and shows Voldemort possessing Harry, forcing him to remember his worst memories of losing people he loves. For anyone who’s ever suffered from depression or anxiety, the way these horrible memories overwhelm Harry is shockingly familiar. But then, Ron, Hermione and the others come running in. The sight of them makes Harry remember all of the best moments with his friends: “You’re the weak one. And you’ll never know love, or friendship. And I feel sorry for you.” HOLY HELL. All the tears. Just all of them. I fuckin love this moment. Congrats Possession scene, you single-handedly saved this movie for me.
Half-Blood Prince:
Oooooh boy. Full disclosure, I kind of hate this movie. It’s just… it’s not ABOUT anything. Like, SO much was changed in Order of the Pheonix to make it tonally different from the book, AND YET: Sirius’s line in the OOTP film about how “we all have light and dark inside of us” is so cliched and not from the book at all, but it PAYS OFF and shapes the theme of the movie at the end when Dumbledore reinforces “It’s not how you are alike. It’s how you are not.” So yeah, not really from the book, but it’s at least trying to have a theme. HBP the movie is a mess. Instead of having a central theme, the main idea for the movie appears to be: “stuff is happening”.
-Despite this, there were one or two instances of “stuff is happening” which the film added that built positively on the book. One of those is, hear me out, the Burrow attack. HBP the book is pretty void of any action until the very end, and this addition (nonsensical as it is. Did they ever explain how the Death Eaters were able to break through the Ministry’s protective charms to get to the Burrow?) gives us some pretty cool visuals and some much needed tension. Too bad it’s totally meaningless as we see in the first few minutes of Deathly Hallows Part 1 that the Weasley’s have completely rebuilt the Burrow. Cause, ya know, magic.
-Draco on the Hogwarts Express: “Hogwarts. What a pathetic excuse for a school. I think I’d pitch myself off the Astronomy Tower if I thought I had to come back for another year.” HA! Oh the irony.
In general, the characterization of Draco is so much more engaging here than in the book. The fact that the movies are less exclusively only what Harry thinks and sees gives us opportunities to see more into other characters perspectives. Draco’s experiments in the Room of Requirement really add a lot to the characters emotional struggle. And boy howdy does Tom act the HELL out of the bathroom cry scene. Really makes you wish they’d followed through on that redemption arc in DH part 2 (more on that later).
-Last but not least; Slughorn and the Lilly fishbowl. HOLY SHIT is this scene powerful. Not only is it an incredibly touching story, but we get to see the parental and emotional aspects of Slughorn’s ‘collecting’ of promising students over the years. And the sadness of Slughorn’s unfinished sentence; “the day the bowl was empty… was the day that your mother….” Just, damn. I both love and hate this moment, because it adds something positive to HBP and that makes me mad because I guess I can’t totally hate it now.
 Deathly Hallows Part 1
-Opening montage with Hermione Obliviating her parents. In the book, Hermione tells the boys about how she did this in order to make them see how much she’s already sacrificed to their cause. But damn. SEEING it really makes it even more devastating.
-Hedwig’s Death. Damn, just typing those words hurt my heart. I really liked that Harry lets her fly free at the beginning, only to have her come back during the sky battle to save Harry. It’s sad in the book having her die in her cage, but they really amped up the cry factor for the movie by having her sacrifice herself.
-“Hey losers! He isn’t here.” Goddamnit, Neville just keeps wracking up those ‘Biggest Badass’ and ‘Best Character Growth’ points. It’s great foreshadowing for what’s to come with his hero moment in the Final Battle.
-Harry and Hermione’s dance. I know some people have called this scene unnecessary and awkward, but here me out. The dancing itself is, in my opinion, EXACTLY how awkward fools like Harry and Hermione would dance, and the moments where they slowly change from depressed and dead-eyed to light-hearted and goofy, it shows you that despite all the hardships they’ve gone through, they’re just kids. A little awkward, a little uncertain, but still able to enjoy the small things in life. Also, the little moment where they linger for a moment all serious after the dance always played to me like “hey, you know how Ron just stormed out after accusing us of having a thing? Maybe there’s a possibility that we actually do… nah.” It’s a nice little moment.
-Scabier’s creeper moments with Hermione. That scene in the forest when she’s put up the enchantments so they can’t see her, but he can smell her. It’s a great acting moment between Emma and the dude playing Scabier (even if this should have been Greyback).
-Draco at Malfoy Manor. Small but touching scene; when Draco is brought in to make sure the Death Eaters have caught Harry, he does the same thing in the book where he claims he “can’t be sure”. In the book, Draco says this while refusing to look Harry in the eye. In the movie, he looks Harry dead in the face and looks scared to death while asking “What’s wrong with his face?” Just… the concern and fear dripping off of him is DELICIOUS. (AGAIN WITH THE REDEMPTION ARC!!! THE POTENTIAL WAS THERE WARNER BROTHERS!!!!!)
-Hermione Tortured. Not really all that much was changed for this scene, but Bellatrix carving ‘mudblood’ into Hermione’s arm and the way it evoked Holocaust concentration camp victims was a stroke of genius.
-Dobby at Malfoy Manor. Way to give this ‘lil dude a moment to shine! Specifically; “of course I can, I’m an elf!” “Dobby never meant to kill anyone. Dobby only meant to mame or seriously injure!” And then… the death scene. I love that in the movie, Dobby gets a longer farewell. “Such a beautiful place… to be with friends. Dobby is happy to be with his friend. Harry Potter.” UGH! At least give me some warning before you rip my heart out.
 Deathly Hallows Part 2
-Snape vs. McGonagall; I’m torn, because I love the scene in the book where Harry defends McGonagall against the Carrows leading into the scene where she confronts Snape, but I also really love this big dramatic scene in the Great Hall with the “How dare you stand where he stood?” and McGonagall dueling Snape. Alan’s expression as Maggie steps up is PRICELESS.
-Harry and Malfoy in the Room or Requirement; “Why didn’t you tell her? Bellatrix? You knew it was me.” Yeah Warner Brothers, why didn’t he tell her? Gonna maybe follow through with this redemption-arc you seem to be building up? No?? OKAY THEN!!!
-Snape’s death scene. Changing the setting was a stroke of genius. This scene is wonderfully done and we all know it.
-The Prince’s Tale. Okay, I feel like I’m going to take some flak for this. At first, I wasn’t thrilled with how much was cut out of Snape’s flashbacks concerning his friendship with Lilly and their falling out. But when you really think about it, they cut out all of the really gross stuff. For instance, it’s never implied that he enjoys bullying people for fun, he doesn’t call her a mudblood, he isn’t shown being toxic towards Lilly and jealous of James, never has the moment where he asks Voldemort to kill Harry & James and leave Lilly for him, and in general is WAY less problematic than in the books. This might be an instance of a ‘less is more’ win in favor of the film. I know, I’m as shocked as you are.
-Malfoy’s Redemption: So this might be confusing for some folks since this wasn’t in the final cut, but here’s a link for what they originally had in mind for Draco’s redemption arc: https://youtu.be/hS5Z2YbyePg

I am SO MAD that this was left out of the final cut, since it’s so obviously built up in part 1. Also, it would have been a HUGE improvement on the source material since Draco effectively has NO character growth there. This moment, where he makes a huge stand by yelling “POTTER” (also, GREAT inverse from the way we’ve become accustomed to hearing Draco sneer at Harry by invoking his surname over the years), throws him the wand, and runs back to join the fray, is a great addition to the series. I really wish the filmmakers had stuck with this plan.
 Incredibly long ranting list over.
