Advocaat or advocatenborrel is a traditional Dutch alcoholic beverage made from eggs, sugar, and brandy. The rich and creamy drink has a smooth, custard-like consistency. the original thick variety, i.e. without albumen, is used as a waffle, pancake or poffertjes topping, as an ingredient for ice cream, custards, pastries and similar desserts, or as an apéritif or digestif. The latter, possibly topped with whipped cream and then occasionally sprinkled with a touch of cocoa powder, is served in a very tiny bowl or small glass from which it is eaten by use of a teaspoon. I'm watching the Dutch Helluva Boss fandub again and I cannot get over how they translated Stolas' "jelly sandwiches" line to him wanting to shove a "frinkandelbroodje" up Blitz's ass.

This one is extremely hard to explain to non-Dutch people, because it's such a culture heavy inside joke among Dutch people why picking this food specifically makes it so funny.

This is one of the reasons I love watching this Dutch fandub so much, they way they Dutchify the jokes (especially since some of the HB jokes don't land for me, because of the language/cultural barrier, it's nice to have a dub that's more on my level).
