If you weren’t following the Netflix Marvel shows when they were first being released, here’s my best attempt at summarizing how the audience/fandom reacted to them:
Daredevil S1: “OMG, best Marvel show ever! I love this darker side of the MCU!”
Jessica Jones S1: “OMG, best Marvel show ever! I love this darker side of the MCU! Marvel does female representation right!”
Daredevil S2: “Punisher was amazing! Elektra and the Hand…eh.”
Luke Cage S1: (first half) “OMG, best Marvel show ever! I love this darker side of the MCU! Marvel does black representation right!” / (second half) “This show is corny and terrible. They did Mahershala Ali dirty.”
Iron Fist S1: “Wtf is this shit?”
The Defenders: “That was certainly a crossover. They did cross over. And things happened.”
The Punisher S1: “This is fine, but it’s tone deaf for Marvel to make this show when we need gun control now.”
Jessica Jones S2: “The story is all over the place. What’s even the focus here? What the heck is happening?”
Luke Cage S2: “I guess this is better than S1 but I still hate that Mahershala Ali got killed off so soon.”
Iron Fist S2: “Better than S1, but that’s not saying much. Also, I welcome our new Iron Fist, Colleen Wing.”
Daredevil S3: “They redeemed the Netflix Marvel shows! Hallelujah!”
The Punisher S2: “This feels rushed. Like there’s two seasons worth of story here.”
Jessica Jones S3: “Wait, this exists? I literally saw no ads for this.”

Hi!
Marvel is "very much exploring" to get Jessica, Luke and Danny back, thought you might want to know!
https://ew.com/jessica-jones-luke-cage-iron-fist-returns-explored-marvel-exclusive-11680967
Aaaaah! Thank you for sharing this! I really appreciate it.
I honestly just find it funny (read: baffling) that they've had no issues at all cramming Matt Murdock into any cameo opportunities that might conceivably allow for him, but when it comes to literally any other Marvel Netflix/Marvel TV character, suddenly golly, it's so gosh-darn hard to think of anything to do with them. (You know who Jennifer Walters has never dated? Matt Murdock. You know who Jennifer Walters has dated? Luke Cage. I just...?! Look. I jokingly said at one point that Charlie Cox must have some major blackmail material on Kevin Feige as a way of explaining why Daredevil has been feverishly prioritized to the exclusion of every other character, and honestly...).
Anyway, we've had many rumors and "oooh, well, maybe someday..."s like this before, so I can't quite bring myself to celebrate yet. Frankly, based on some of the things I'm hearing about the new Daredevil season, I'm not even sure if I want Disney+ touching shows in which I'm actually invested. But please forgive me for my years of accumulated bitterness. I hate to be like this. And I don't begrudge the Daredevil show its success; I'm just utterly sick of seeing the other, equally good and beloved shows and characters not given anywhere near the same amount of respect. This is some of the most promising news we've had in a good long while, and I truly appreciate your sending it my way!

Danny recharges his chi.
This is one of my favorite scenes. After all of the turmoil, Danny gets a moment of peace (this show is great at occasionally giving us those; quiet moments in which the characters can just BE). Here, Danny is finally granted a chance to reconnect with himself and find his footing after being so unsettled and off-balance for so long. I love that, after a moment, he starts going through the steps of the form all on his own. We gets hints here of a healthy, happy, settled Danny, free of the piles of baggage he has been struggling with. It also very effectively presents Bakuto in a positive light, as a wise and caring mentor who is here to help— the exact person Danny needs right now.
Danny makes an interesting comment to Bakuto shortly after this. He says the compound feels familiar, almost like K’un-Lun. We can look forward to everything we will learn in “The Defenders” about Bakuto’s history in K’un-Lun for a connection, but since that was a different showrunner, etc., that wasn’t necessarily what was in mind here. Something I always think about regarding this comment: does the sense of familiarity and reminder of home make Danny more relaxed than he would be, more likely to let his guard down— or does it just keep all of his K’un-Lun-related stress closer to the surface?

After watching the first few episodes of Iron Fist, I never would have predicted that Ward was going to become my favorite character.
I still have four episodes left in season one, but I don't think anyone stands a chance of stealing that spot from him.
And to think I was worried about having to watch the show because it's generally disliked by most people. I've been enjoying it a lot more than I expected to.

You wanna know my Roman Empire? It’s the amount of wasted potential that Netflix’s Iron Fist had, and that people blame Finn Jones when he’s a wonderful actor who was done dirty by that racist POS Jeff Loeb

People that complained about Danny being white never read a comic
I don't know much about the comics. Would want to read more, but were I live it's a very expensive hobby. I have only a few, mostly Thor comics i bought second hand.
However, a Google search shows me this:

DEFENDERS' SAGA series 5: IRON FIST Series 1 i was so unrealistically excited for this series, as IF had been one of my faves in my childhood in the 80s. but he disappeared. i found his run in the Defenders' series, but he was different, & it had a different line-up. he & they felt like spare-parts slung together to make another line, but their chemistry & the writing didn't work for me. SO Netfux's announcement greatly intrigued & interested & exited me. whoops. more fool me. after DareDevil & jessica Jones & Luke Cage, i was confident this was going to work, and I adored Finn Jones & Jessica Henwick. infortunately, finn was wholey misscast & incapable & unconvincing, while Jessica's Colleen Wing just stole the show out from under everyone she was SOO capable & convincing. changes were made after S1, & for me it improves, but thankfully Danny's appearance as IF in Defenders works tremendously as he wonderfully tousle's with & bounces off Coulter's Luke Cage.

The storyline I imagined in my head for this scenario:
Frank Castle got flying stone since he’s a trained sniper/marksman. He was literally trained to be able to make his shots.
Matt Murdock got jegi since he’s the most coordinated with his movements.
Danny Rand got gonggi since he once observed the game being played while he was living in K’un L’un. Also, no one else knows how to play the game.
Between Jessica and Luke, Jessica is given ddakji and Luke gets spinning top. Although both of them could do ddakji due to their super strength, Luke volunteers for spinning top. His reasoning is that a couple of kids that visited the barbershop once showed him how to spin a Beyblade. Jessica then shrugs and says something along the lines of, “good enough for me, now let’s not get killed out there”.

Despite Danny’s apparent serenity and the fact that he finally seems to be getting a dang break, he is still suspicious and alert. He can’t fully enjoy it. As soon as he gets Bakuto to himself, he starts asking some pointed questions.  (At one point he even says “Did Colleen tell you everything about me?” suggesting that he feels a slight sense of betrayal from her. Foreshadowing...). And in the exchange above, he drops an important bit of truth-- which turns out to be completely accurate. Danny has been betrayed too many times already, and he’s sharper than people give him credit for. Something about this is rubbing him the wrong way. Before going into Bakuto’s office, he quietly clocks the building where Gao is probably being kept. He needs her-- he outright tells Bakuto that she murdered his parents, which is striking candidness from him at this stage-- and a little rest and chi-recharging aside, he is still on a mission.
But Bakuto is also very charming and great at appearing genuine...both to Danny and Colleen, and to the viewer. I’ve always enjoyed the fact that this is even reflected in his physical appearance: his manner of dress and hairstyle actually mimic Danny’s, which imbues him with a subliminal sense of being on the same side as our heroes. And he is about to hit Danny with some major bombshells in order to win his trust.

MCU Progress
I've watched the first three episodes of Iron Fist (and will be watching episode four tonight).
The only thing I knew going into the show was that most people don't like it.
I didn't know why other than some rumblings about them casting a white man to play Danny. I briefly looked into other reasons and the main one seems to be the pacing of the show is slow.
So far, it doesn't seem slow to me, and I really don't mind a slower pace in shows to begin with, so I don't think that'll ever be a problem for me.
I've been enjoying it and will definitely be getting through it a lot faster than Luke Cage. I don't think I watched any episodes of that show on back-to-back days, but I haven't missed a day with Iron Fist yet.

God, yes. I've geeked out about this before and I will again, because man, if I could express to you the sheer joy and electricity I felt as an Iron Fist fan when I watched this scene for the first time around ten hours into a pizza-fueled all-nighter nearly seven years ago to the day...
There are certain things that a live action adaptation is able to offer. I'll be the first to argue that live action is not the best medium for adapting fantasy stories, and that most superheroes would be far better served by an animated approach. But this scene right here is everything I could have wanted from a retelling of Danny Rand's origin story, and the realness, the tangibility, the live action-ness of it is part of what makes it great.
In the comics, when we see Danny (or other Iron Fists) battle Shou-Lao the Undying, we can tell that it is terrifying, and exhausting, and painful, and dangerous. If the art doesn't emphasize this enough, there is usually narration that makes these points clear. After killing the dragon and plunging his fists into Shou-Lao's still-beating heart to absorb her chi, there's a great moment in Marvel Premiere #16 where Danny staggers out of the cave and shoves his hands into the snow, desperate to numb the pain.
Tumblr media
Marvel Premiere #16 by Len Wein, Larry Hama, Glynis Wein, Dick Giordano, and L.P. Gregory
In Immortal Iron Fist, we learn about a former Iron Fist named Li Park who fell unconscious after surviving his trial and lay near death for a while before finally, against all expectations, recovering from his injuries. This battle is a tremendous ordeal, an almost unimaginable undertaking that is both a mental and physical challenge. Like so much about Danny's origin story, there is a sense of raw, visceral intensity to it that I find utterly compelling.
The Netflix show did not have the budget to show us Shou-Lao, or any of the fight itself. But they could show us the cave, and they could show us the aftermath. There has always been a certain cleanness and bloodlessness to the depictions of this fight in the comics, mostly due to the art styles and the need for visual shorthands, but my god, here... We (with Davos) come upon Danny unconscious on the ground, bruised and dirty, his clothes ripped and charred from dragon fire, the brand burned onto his chest still raw and fresh. Though we do not see the fight, we can tell what he has been through. We can see what a hard battle it was, how violent and painful, and how close he came to not surviving it. And through that, we can imagine the fight itself-- and the imagination has better graphics than any special effects budget could afford. Never in the comics have we seen the impact of this fight on Danny's body in such vivid, brutal detail, and it makes the fight feel real, and it made me really happy.

I think about this look a lot
