"You look like shit."
"Thank you, Yuna, I really needed to hear that. Why are you here exactly?"
"For Eri."
"You want her back? I thought you were done with her."
"Done with her? She's my kid."
"Yeah, your kid who killed your husband so you didn't want her anymore. I know how this works."
"Well clearly you don't, because what the fuck, Chisaki. You think I'm going to abandon my kid?"
"You already did abandon your kid. And then Pops gave her to me because he couldn't be arsed to take care of her either."
"Do you want me to take her back or not?"
"By all means, take her! I am not equipped to take care of a child! I'm just saying, you are not as innocent here as you want to pretend!"
"I'm not pretending anything! I don't care about how innocent I am! I just want my kid back! Fuck off!"
"Fine! Whatever! I'll go get her, just--"
"Absolutely not, I'm coming with you."
"Excuse me?"
"I'm coming with you, idiot. What, are you deaf now? I want to see my kid! And make sure she isn't missing any limbs!"
"Do you think I'd let her arm get chopped off? I'm not that negligent--"
"Maybe you are though! You said yourself that you're not equipped to take care of a kid! How am I supposed to know that she doesn't have a broken leg or something--"
"She's right here, you two. Quit arguing."
[Silence.]
"...hi, Hari."
"Hello, Kurono."
"Mama?"
"Hey, Eri baby. Are you alright? ...is that an alligator plushie?"
"'s a caiman. Nemoto gave it to me."
"I told you she was fine, Yuna."
"Shut up, Kai."
"In any case, if Eri's leaving, we should help her pack up her stuff. Kai, would you help me out?"
"Yeah. Yeah. Just--Yuna, can you tell the oyaji about this?"
"Why can't you?"
"Because he'll think I'm lying and I dumped her out on the street or something. He trusts you. He doesn't trust me."
"He doesn't trust me."
"He trusts you more than he trusts me."
"That's ridiculous. You tell him."
"You tell him."
"No, you tell him."
"You tell him."
"You both tell him."
"But Hari--"
"Both of you tell him. Now, Eri, are you ready to go?"
"Can I say goodbye to Nemoto first?"
"Sure, I'll go find him. And then we'll grab your stuff and hand you over. Kai, Yuna, you two go tell the oyaji, I'll take care of Eri. Seriously, you two are worse than Nemoto and I--"
"Hari--"
"GO."
"Fine."
"...fine."

June 2024
(Series: Lycoris Recoil | Illustrator: Imigimuru)
I did finish Laid-back Camp season 3 and Kaiju No. 8 and neither shows are new favourites, sadly. LBC was still a nice time, but definitely not as good as season 2 and the movie, and I'm not sure if I'd say it's as good season 1 either. Still worth the watch but definitely not the best thing the franchise has to offer. As for Kaiju No. 8, it had a promising start, but I found that the series needed more breather episodes. After the first few episodes, it feels like we're moving from big fight to big fight, without enough time to get attached to the characters, and without that connection, it became hard to care about the fights. By episode 11, I realised I didn't even care about Kafka anymore. Still a lot of cool ideas though, and I'd definitely check out the manga.
I also have started Whisper Me a Love Song, but due to delays, it hasn't finished yet. It's an unfortunately underwhelming adaptation, and the best thing I can say about it is that it made me reread the manga, which has been such a joyful experience. The anime has a lot of janky shots and cuts and the show was almost unwatchable by ep 8, but at least the vocal performances make up for it. There were times that I just left it playing while I did something else in another tab and just listened to the voices, which was honestly preferable to looking at the show sometimes. I particularly like Yuna Nemoto as Shiho. Definitely a VA I'll be looking out for in the future. It's sad because I was really rooting for the anime, based off the initial announcements and visuals, and I really wish it was better. As it is, I really couldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't into seiyuu and hasn't already read the manga.
Finally, I've just started Go! Go! Loser Ranger! and am enjoying it a lot. I really like sentai shows and I'm enjoying how this one is playing with the genre. There's so many intriguing ideas to follow, and the characters are interesting. It also has probably my favourite OP/ED combo of the year so far. They're both just so good.
I did watch Delicious in Dungeon and Brave Bang Bravern this month and loved both shows a lot. They are definitely new favourites for me. 2024 may have had a lot of shows that have looked like complete ass (I could not finish Cherry Magic because the visuals were so bad that I was convinced I would be better off picking up the manga), but it's also had some real gems so far. What with Danmeshi, Bravern, and the second halves of Frieren and the Apothecary Diaries, and I know there are others that I haven't touched yet. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the year goes as to whether this ends up being one of the best years in anime or one of the worst.

Cast Comments from the VAs
So who is playing who has been confirmed.
Mikako Komatsu as Mizuguchi Aki
Konomi Kohara as Tsutsui Mari
Ai Kakuma as Tachibana Kaori
Yuna Nemoto as Izumi Shiho
I didn't expect Shiho to appear in the first season considering they are probably only going to cover the first three volumes of the manga but of course, not complaining🥳
