FREELANCE (2023)

Quelques années après avoir pris sa retraite de l'armée américaine et des forces spéciales à la suite d'une blessure de guerre, Mason Pettits mène une vie classique dans une banlieue américaine où il travaille désormais comme avocat. Mais il s’ennuie profondément et décide donc de se reconvertir dans la sécurité privée. Il est alors chargé de la protection de Claire Wellington, une journaliste qui va interviewer Juan Venegas, le président de Paldonie, un petit pays d'Amérique du Sud. En las últimas horas, un video que circula en redes sociales ha generado preocupación al exhibir a Maclovio Murillo Rodríguez, joven quien es señalado por grupos de estar detrás de la ola de violencia en la región norte del Estado de Guerrero. En la grabación, se incluyen audios donde Murillo Rodríguez presuntamente ordena el envío de personas armadas para cometer crímenes como extorsión y homicidios.

Uno de los audios más impactantes revela cómo se encarga “un trabajo” para intimidar a un empresario local, lo que se presenta como el primer acto criminal del grupo. Además, el video menciona a varios individuos que estarían colaborando con Murillo Rodríguez en sus actividades delictivas, entre ellos Nelson Cuevas Torres, alias “Pochis”, originario de Tabasco, quien aparentemente, por la fotografía publicada, habría sido abatido el pasado 3 de agosto.

El material concluye con una serie de advertencias dirigidas a Maclovio Murillo, “el Vaquero” y “el Muerto”, generando inquietud entre los usuarios.

En Orlando, Florida (EE.UU.) se produce la mayor matanza de la historia del país desde el 11-M cuando una fanático islamista que dice actuar en nombre del Estado Islámico, entra en un club de homosexuales y asesina a 50 personas, además de herir a más de medio centenar y atricherarse con un grupo de rehenes. Tres horas después las fuerzas especiales de la policía entrarán en el local y matarán al atacante. (Hace 8 años)

Tras la desaparición de la URSS, Boris Yeltsin resulta elegido como primer presidente de Rusia, siendo el primero directamente electo por el pueblo en la historia de su país. Su mandato estará marcado por la corrupción, el colapso económico y la guerra de Chechenia. (Hace 33 años)

Se firma en Madrid el tratado de adhesión de España y Portugal a la Comunidad Europea, que se materializará el 1 de enero de 1986. (Hace 39 años)

1964

El líder de la lucha contra el apartheid en Sudáfrica, Nelson Mandela, es condenado a cadena perpetua por sabotaje. Otros siete acusados, incluido el ex secretario general del prohibido Congreso Nacional Africano (ANC) Walter Sisulu, resultan condenados a la misma pena. Mandela argumentó durante el juicio: "No negaré que yo planeé el sabotaje. No lo planifiqué con espíritu temerario ni porque ame la violencia. Lo planeé como resultado de una sobria y calmada evaluación de la situación política que ha surgido después de muchos años de tiranía, explotación y opresión de mi pueblo por los blancos". Se firma el alto el fuego en la guerra del Chaco entre Bolivia y Paraguay, que termina con 100.000 muertos por las disputas de dos multinacionales petroleras por el llamado "oro negro". Tres años más tarde se firmará la paz definitiva en Buenos Aires por la que Paraguay obtendrá la mayoría del Chaco Boreal, aunque Bolivia retendrá los campos petrolíferos ya en explotación. La Asamblea Constituyente cubana, reunida en sesión secreta, aprueba la incorporación de la Enmienda Platt como apéndice a la Constitución de la República, lo que supone convertir la isla en protectorado estadounidense con poca o ninguna independencia. (Hace 123 años)

1898

Mientras España guerrea por conservar Cuba, en Filipinas Emilio Aguinaldo, líder independentista apoyado por los Estados Unidos, declara la independencia de su país, tras 300 años de pertenencia a España como colonia y establece un régimen democrático. Antes de fin de año, los americanos que le han apoyado tomarán el control de Filipinas. Emilio Aguinaldo responderá, en febrero de 1899, levantándose en armas contra quienes le habían ayudado. En 1901 será capturado y en 1902 se sofocará la insurrección. Finalmente Filipinas logrará su independencia en 1946. (Hace 126 años)

El Salvador promulga la primera Constitución Política, sancionada por el prócer Don José Manuel Rodríguez, en su carácter de Jefe de Estado. Está inspirada en la doctrina jurídica de la Carta de Filadelfia de 1776, en la de la Declaración de los Derechos del Hombre y del Ciudadano Francés de 1789, en la Constitución de los Estados Unidos de 1787 y en la Constitución de España de 1812. Es la primera que se decreta en toda América Central. (Hace 200 años)

La convención de Virginia (EE.UU.) adopta la primera declaración de derechos del hombre, redactada por George Mason, quien a su vez se inspiró en la Carta de Derechos Inglesa de 1689, convirtiéndose en uno de los grandes títulos de libertad de todos los tiempos. (Hace 248 años)
