Glynda taught me how to do the enchanting and potions while Winter helped me with most of the business stuff. Even Whitley has been helping out around the shop! I think it’s good for him to be honest, he’s getting better at socializing.

Yang Xiao Long: Dragon Master

Yang: (DM) Okay, you guys enter the dragon's lair and you find four maidens moving around here and there. One of them is dusting with a feather duster, another is wearing an apron and carrying an empty pot, and a third is holding a magic calculator and scribbling away on a piece of parchment. What's your next move?

Blake: (Rogue) I go up to the maid and say, "We're here to rescue you. Don't be alarmed."

Yang: The maid looks at you and says, "Rescue? Why would I want to be recued?"

Blake: "Wait, weren't you abducted?"

Yang: "Abducted? Divines, no! The master has blessed us with our dream jobs! I've always wanted to work a high-paying job while employed by a generous and sweet employer! It just turns out the job is maid work for a golden dragon!"

Blake: "So the quest was a bust, huh?"

Yang: The chef speaks up. "I get to cook gourmet food like I've always dreamed!"

Yang: The accountant says, "I manage all the finances like my father always wanted for me!"

Ruby: (Ranger) "So there's nothing for us to do?"

Yang: The maid grimaces and says, "Well, there is one thing we might need help with." She points down the hall where you can hear Draconic roaring. It sounds like two beasts roaring back and forth, and a golden dragon appears following a beautiful, golden-haired girl.

Ruby: As a kobold, do I understand what they're saying?

Yang: Yup, but soon the argument shifts to Common.

Yang: (Ahem!) "IT'S NOT A PHASE, DAD!"

Weiss: (Bard) Oh no...

Yang: The dragon bellows, smoke fuming, (Deep voice) "Come to your senses, my darling! You spend most of your nights bedding most other races in your human form! Where is your dignity as a dragon?!"

Yang: "Well maybe I want to live my life however I want before some necromancer murders me like they did Mother!"

Jaune: (Paladin) I look at the arguing family and say to the group, "Oh, we are so not skilled enough to handle family therapy."

Yang: As you say that, the dragon looks to you and is surprised. "Oh, by Bahamut! We have guests! Forgive me for my shameful display! But I am ever so glad that you are here, noble paladin! Perhaps you can be the guiding light for my daughter?"

Jaune: "M-Me? Uh, sure." I'm gonna roll for Persuasion. (Rolls 17) I say, "You should listen to your father. Love is an intimate emotion, and you should save yourself, body, mind, and soul for the one you can spend the rest of your life with."

Yang: The dragon smiles and says, "Yes! Exactly!"

Ruby: I'll roll, too! (Rolls 13) I say, "It's fine if you want to experiment, but don't rush into something you might regret. After all, people with different views hold different values."

Yang: The dragon tosses his head and says, "Er, true, but I don't think that's the message I want for my daughter. But you are no less true."

Blake: My turn. (Rolls 6) I say, "Look, sweet thing, sex is awesome, but it's not something you should do all day. After all, you don't want to spoil a good thing by doing it too much, right?"

Yang: The dragon bellows, "Now wait just a minute!"

Jaune: Uh, Weiss? Maybe you want to add something here? ...Weiss?

Weiss: (Smiles, Sets down her scroll) I stroll out of the bedroom, completely satisfied. "Sup, ladies~?"

Yang: Snrk! Inside the bedroom, you hear a satisfied moan. "Divines, I've never felt so good~!"

Jaune: WHAT DID YOU DO?!

Yang: The dragon rears his head! "HOW... HOW DARE YOU!"

Ruby: Oh no... Get ready to roll, guys!

Yang: The daughter stands in front of him! "Daddy, no! I love her!" She grabs you, Jaune. "Paladin, bless our marriage!"

Jaune: "Uh, that's more of a Cleric thing, but sure! Done!

Weiss: Wait?! What?! I run out of there, shouting, "I'm not ready for that level of commitment!"

Yang: The daughter transforms and chases after you, laughing! "You cannot escape true love, darling~!"

Yang: The dragon dad sighs.

Jaune: "Uh... It's an improvement, right?"

Yang: The dragon dad sighs.

Penny Polendina (RWBY)

I love my quirky little robot girl. She's the absolute best, a brilliant fighter and very emotionally intelligent. She is such a cheerful ideal, someone who tries to see the best in people. She knows when they've gone too far and isn't afraid to stand up for what she wants! Which is the whole core of her little arc. Being a weapon given a soul and all. It is a beautiful story of a little girl who cares so much and wishes to be able to just... be that cheerful little girl without the weight of the world. Its just so sweet.

2. Kafka (Star Rail)

In all honesty she's the reason I'm even playing Star Rail. She is such a mysterious character, with a voice to die for. Yes, Hoyoverse characters tend to be rather shallow (that's a gacha game for ya), but Kafka just hits everything I love in a character. Her character short when she was fully released is... *chef's kiss* just amazing. I will admit, every time she does her ult in game I join her in saying "Boom." ^_^;

3. Lyse (FFXIV)

Shocker, the leading lady of Stormblood is still my favorite? Honestly, all three of the ladies from Stormblood are the trifecta of favorites. (Lyse, Fordola and Yotsuyu) The various storylines that cause them to interact is such a delight. I wasn't too bothered by the whole "Yda was my sister" thing, cause well, Yda was barely in the game post ARR... And like, it was always Yda and Papalymo. Never just one or the other. So when Lyse got the chance to shine and actually take center stage, I was smitten. She's tough, gentle, sassy, collected, brilliant, a bit silly, and more. Such a well written character. I'm still upset she left the scions tbh. Could've added a little hair color diversity by a little bit. :P

4. Gideon Nav (The Locked Tomb)

Ok, seriously, this series grabbed me by the throat and would not let me go. Gideon is such a lovely first viewpoint (and I adore all the viewpoint characters). She takes no shit, talks a lotta shit, and can fight a whole heck more shit. The way she interacts with Harrow at first, then the other Necromancers and their Cavaliers is such a delight. Sure you hate Harrowhark so much Gideon, why are you obeying her command to not speak a single word to literally anyone else, hmmmmmmmmmmm?????? Also the gay panic that Gideon seems to have on the regular is just. Great. I don't want to speak too much more on Gideon, cause this series is just great and you should read it.

5. Raiden Ei (Genshin Impact)

Last time it was Eula, now it is Raiden Ei. It is always a toss up between them, if I'm being honest. Ei is just... such a sad puppy? XD Its the best way to describe her. So trapped in her own past and trying to do what would best preserve her sister's memory... She's just SAD guys. Yeah, she may not be the best governing force for her nation, and she indirectly killed a lotta people with her retreating away and leaving a puppet behind, but we the Traveler showed up and fixed things! Also she gets two amazing boss fights, I honestly wish I could do the story one again but I ain't working through Mondstat and Liyue again. >.>;

6. Karlach (Baldur's Gate 3)

KARLACH IS THE BEST AND SHE IS SO SWEET AND LOVELY AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO GO BACK TO HELL OR DIE OR [redacted]. She is such a lovely goofball that even shows platonic love if you don't romance her and I really think that is great! Her arc tying into Gortash was delightful, bringing her much more into the story instead of just a bystander like a couple of them. (Like out of all the origin companions Astarion barely has any connection to any of the major players in the story, he's pretty self contained tbh.) Her sweetness, the way she says she's gonna eat dirt if you leave her camp, and her cheerful demeanor are just.... Amazing. I'm really running out of words for Karlach cause she is my favorite. I'm gonna have to start BG3 up again and actually play my romance run of her soon.

7. The Doctor (Doctor Who)

Ok, a bit of a cop out since, you know, they are the star of the show. BUT COME ON. The Doctor in their various iterations have been so enjoyable. My personal favorite is Tennet's 10, but Capaldi's 12 is a strong second. Its just a good show to binge at times. There are a lottta good episodes, a few really bad ones, but overall its a good time. The scene at the end of the special where they rescue Gallifrey is still one of my favorite scenes in the whole franchise. And hell, the Archeologist is based (loosely) on them, so how can I not include them?

8. Xion (Kingdom Hearts)

Have I mentioned I love tragic characters? Xion is literally the definition of tragedy, with all the problems with her just existing lol. Her presence in 358/2 Days really made the game for me. Roxas was kinda bland and having someone that was similar in age (like Sora, Riku and Kairi were) to interact with made it all that much better. AND SHE GETS THE HAPPY ENDING. Eventually. Boy is it a long road, but that's Kingdom Hearts for ya.

8. Lucina (Fire Emblem)

I really wanna pick someone else in all honesty, but Fire Emblem has a worse problem than Hoyoverse games in their bit characters. :/ Lucina is a strong character that really delighted me when I played Awakening. She's such a surprise that it really helps make that Fire Emblem my favorite. She's got a good supporting cast too, with Robin and her dad Chrom, but Awakening was really her game. Chrom was kinda there just to be her dad lol

9. Trevor Belmont (Castlevania)

Full disclosure, I have not played his game, in fact the only two castlevania's I have played both feature non Belmont's as the lead players (Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclasia). But the way Trevor is in the show, OH BOY. He is rough, he is blunt, he is smart, he is SOOOO dumb, he is loyal, he is a fighter, he never gives up, HE IS JUST GREAT. He's also one of my biggest Bi panics when he shows how much of a badass he is in episode, I think, 4 or 5 or later? Its been a hot minute since I watched that series. When he first uses the flail weapon that I forget the name of.

10. Aigis (Persona)

Aigis is a super cutie and I love her interactions with the female protagonist. I really wish P3 wasn't such a long game and Aigis actually showed up a little earlier. She's just a doll! I do need to try and find a copy (or emulate) FES to play the storyline with her as the lead singer. Its just so rough to get thru P3 I just lose motivation. T.T I've made it to the vacation part with the female lead, like, three times and no further cause my motivation tanks. WHICH IS WEIRD CAUSE THAT'S WHEN YOU MEET AIGIS. Its just too long for me I guess. XD

I just realized - the Launcher Hooks could serve as an in-universe indicator of which Beycrafter made which Bey.

Think about it - the series states that Beycrafting is an extremely specialized profession that takes a lot of effort to get into in the first place - and as a result, some Beycrafters may have some fame in that circle, and could be sought out by some teams for their Beys, with their "signature" in a sense being the launcher hooks.

The reason I say the launcher hooks can identify who made what is due to the fact that beys that share launcher hook stylings tend to have similar themes in naming.

So far, I can identify four major crafters:

Team Zooganic's Beycrafter - Launcher hooks are shaped like bolts, names their Beys after real-life animals. Leon Claw, Viper Tail, and Rhino Horn would have been a commission from Zooganic, with Shark Edge being an independent release.

Yggdrasil Pharmaceuticals - Launcher hooks are shaped like feathertips, names their Beys after mythical beasts. We know that they've put a bey to market before: Phoenix Feather. It's not too much of a stretch to say they've done this in the past as well, likely having done the same for beys such as Wyvern Gale and Sphinx Cowl.

Team Pendragon's Beycrafter - Launcher hooks are shaped like aircraft fins, names their Beys after the Four Auspicious Beasts. Cobalt Drake/Dragoon and Weiss Tiger fill the roles of the Azure Dragon and the White Tiger respectively, while Ekusu's replacement uses the Black Tortoise-themed Black Shell. The Vermilion Bird's slot has already been taken by Phoenix Feather.

Multi Nanairo - Launcher hooks are triangular with a line through the middle, names her Beys after fantasy jobs. This style of launcher hook has only ever appeared on the Beys used by Team Persona (No, Stone Mont Blanc and Strike Hawk do not count - they're generic beys). Knight and Wizard is fairly obvious; Hells/Incendio is less so, but keep in mind that the 4X avatar resembles a traditional Necromancer/Lich. Dran Sword is the major exception here, being dragon-themed as well as originally being a Team Pendragon Bey - but it could be the case that Shiguru could have commissioned it for Ekusu's use. Before you point out their strained relationship - in chapter 9 of the Manga, Shiguru never actually attacks Multi's skill as a Beycrafter, and even offers a bit of praise towards Hells Scythe's quality.

Weiss knows exactly where the line between what's normal and what isn't is drawn for her and she doesn't know how to deal with the world repeatedly telling her "Actually, no" and it's the funniest thing ever.

Hmmm. Fic you maybe aren't doing now but would like to do in the future rwby and otherwise at a later date. As big and grand as you'd like. All about it. What is it based on, pairings, general plot, etc.

One RWBY answer and one OriginalFiction answer. Rwby first.

Here's a loose idea for a RWBY fic I haven't talked about anywhere and only have a single line written down for in my notes app but have A LOT of random thoughts for. Contemporary paranormal/occultism setting, think along the lines of the Dresden Files. But our main character isn't a gruff yet affable wizard-for-hire. It's Weiss (just Weiss). A necromancer, not yet fully aware of the greater mysteries of the world or even her own existence, but she's got a chip on her shoulder and a thread to pull on that leads her ever-closer to solving a very personal vendetta, but also embroils her in an unseen conflict that threatens so much more than her little piece of reality. It's a White Rose polyfic with the third (and beyond?) member undecided, but Weiss is the lead protag, Ruby shows up relatively early in a support capacity. She'll be some manner of maker or techy-type. And I like Maria as an instructor/mentor of some sort for Weiss. I have vague ideas for including Cinder and Winter, but nothing approaching solid for anyone else yet. This idea started because I have a page in StandardNotes that's several context-less quotes from various things I like and I did a thought exercise where I tried come up with a concept that might eventually use all of them, and that became this. If you want to try and fantasy book what this might end up looking like, here's the list of quotes as it currently stands. There were others when I first came up with this that I've since changed my mind on. There might be more that get added before work truly begins.

You want grand? Let me introduce you to something I came up with originally back in 2019 that I currently refer to as Project Opus.

Three stories. Completely individual and stand alone, in no way will they be explicitly grouped together. But if you pay attention you'll start to notice things. Someone in Story A will talk about an event from Story B as if they lived it. Or there will be a news report in the background of Story C that might give people who've been following one of the other two some deja vu. Or the same scene, playing out in 2 or all 3 stories from different points of view.

Story A is the baseline. A slice-of-life story about mostly normal people in a mostly normal world. Sometimes exciting or unusual things will happen, but it's mostly taken in stride. Such events are notable, but not necessarily unusual, if you take my meaning. Story B Is what's behind the Masquerade. It shares its setting with Story A, but its world is very different. To use a metaphor from movies, Story B is what Neo, Morpheus, and the rest of the Nebuchadnezzar's crew are doing inside the Matrix, while Story A follows the regular people go about their lives unaware of what's happening just under their noses. And Story C is the meat of it. Observers or overseers. Puppetmasters watching and controlling everything from behind the scenes. A lot of the individual narrative of this one will be powerplays and intrigue among these people and the different goals they may have. Like the folks running the park in WestWorld, though I think they'll be actually in the same world as A and B rather than apart from/above it. Shadowy councils and hidden conspiracies. You can follow any one of them and enjoy a self-contained story. But if you're reading all three, and if you're paying attention, you start to see the Narrative. The actual story that's being told across all of these three together. Where might that lead? Yeah, there's a reason I call this Project Opus. If I actually manage to pull it off it will without question be my magnum opus. Which is hilarious, because back when I first started writing I adopted "Opus In Progress" as a sort of personal motto. But it's supposed to be aspirational. Always push forward, try to make each work better than the last one, so if someone asks me what my 'opus' is (not that I actually expect anyone to), the answer is always "The WIP I'm making right now." But if this ever actually becomes a thing, the way I currently envision it, I don't know that I'd be able to top it.

Necromancy rots the body. Everyone picking the art knows this, and accepting this is the first thing testing your resolve. The rot doesn't take hold or start growing immediately, but only after a certain proficiency with the art has been attained. Thus, those with second thoughts can still save themselves and quit while they're still healthy. Once the first symptoms appear, there is no cure. The rot begins to necrotize parts of the necromancer's body, in more extreme cases even amputating toes or fingers. Skin blotching and marbling, visually similar to those observed in sepsis begin to appear. Surface blood vessels burst, causing bruising and subconjunctival hemorrhaging. Necromancer's Rot, once manifested, is always fatal and cannot be cured by medication, magical healing or anything short of a miracle. However... The final test of a still living necromancer is to learn how to overcome their own death. The first signs of the Rot set a literal deadline to the necromancer in question -- master your art or die trying. Skilled enough necromancer will still die to the Rot, but if they have made the correct preparations, once they succumb, they will resurrect as an undead lich, free of the confines of their mortality and the Rot, able to pursue even higher levels of occult knowledge and skill without limitations of mortality. Necromancer's Rot is always fatal, but a true necromancer doesn't stay dead for long. Alexandra "Alex" Weiss is a necromancer nearing the later stages of Necromancer's Rot. She is generally considered one of the greatest living necromancers. She specializes in raising (non-sentient) undead, but is no slouch in other areas of necromancy either.

class: arcane trickster / necromancer race: tiefling age: 23 family: weiss (half-brother, aasimar) background: outlander history: nero and his older brother were raised in the wilds of faerun by barbarian bandits. said bandits killed their mother, who had been en route to abandon them anyway. the brothers can't rightfully say whether it ruined or bettered their lives as they had no idea where their mother intended to take them.

their childhood was not soft or easy. the bandits were of the survival of the fittest variety and they were more prisoners than children. the boys immense talent for magic showed itself early, and they were always threatened with the idea that they could be sold for a profit if they proved too troublesome.

but they always had each other. they would always have each other. they got through the worst of it by holding fast to the books that the bandits opted to burn, reading tales of adventure and magic and might.

eventually, they gained enough strength to kill the men who raised them and struck out for the city, intending to create a more honest life for themselves as mercenaries or adventurers - though in reality, they wanted more of a challenge. at present they are part of a rising group of adventurers, known for their brutality and efficiency.

it's all on the rise for them. but, unfortunately for the brothers, they're doomed by fate.

Which was all well and good, but there was a whole world of magic out there she didn't know anything about.

And that was where Professor Volkarin came in. Necromancy was incredibly fascinating to her, and she hoped he could shed some light on it. Not necessarily to learn how to use it just... well, to know!

"Professor Volkarin? Do you have a moment?" she asked, stepping inside his room at the Lighthouse. It hadn't been what she'd expected from a Necromancer, but that was only based on her own preconceptions. Perhaps all Necromancers liked rooms like this.
