Maybe this is a dumb baby question but, How do you know if a spell works? I’m investigating different practices and all the spells are like… focus, luck, etc, like things that are supposed to either influence my interior state or encourage certain events to occur. But I can’t help but think that if magic was “real” it could do things that are obvious or immediately observable. Have you ever done anything you think was undeniably magic? How did you know?
Not a dumb baby question.
It works if it works! And you can test this.
Broadly speaking we can divide all practical sorcery into two categories: verifiable and unverifiable.
It's really hard to know if an unverifiable spell works. E.g., a spell for focus could often be explainable by the placebo effect. (Or, this lovely Guardian Animal Shielding exercise, which is a fun and relaxing thing to do).
But a verifiable spell is something that you should be able to test and see if your magic did or didn't work.
A good way to find sources of verifiable magic in your life is to observe relatively stable patterns in your own life which have been going on for months, and then cast a spell to directly change it.
An example might be always getting a bad parking spot at work - and then trying to get a very good parking spot.
Either you get to work and have a great place to park even though the whole lot is normally full, or you don't. The spell worked, or it didn't.
Yes, I've worked magic that is obvious and immediately observable. I've worked so much of it and some of it is so miraculous that I don't talk about it publicly because practitioners have a lot of hangups about what kind of magic they think is allowed to exist.
But more importantly I think that while wanting magic to be real, and sorcery to work, are very valid, just chasing that realness alone is probably going to lead you to a path of misery. Here are some of my thoughts on this: On witchcraft as spirituality
Here are some random stories:
At one time there were many arguments in the household due to home renovations (stressful!). I cast a spell to cause one person in the household to be more mindful of the situation. I cast the spell and stepped outside of my practice space. That person was, surprisingly, in the yard and started asking me questions about the exact issue I had just cast on. We ended up having a very long conversation and after that the arguments stopped.
Some years ago the neighbor was causing horrible ruckus and giving my partner awful anxiety, as he could clearly hear it through the old, thin window. I found a bit of thread and "tied up" the neighbor's loud sounds into a knot, and weighted it down with a rock on the windowsill. At this time I wasn't living with my partner, so I came back some weeks later to see the knot. I thought I'd get rid of it, but when I moved the rock my partner stopped me.
"You know what's strange? After you put that there, the neighbor stopped being loud."
I looked at the disrupted rock, which was to "weigh down" the spell, and immediately the neighbor started yelling. I put the rock back, and about 30 minutes later he piped down again and stayed quiet.
Years later, after many calls to the police from many people in the neighborhood with no traction at all, I used the Justice tarot card in a spell and that neighbor was permanently removed from the home within a couple of weeks.
At one time, I was trying to do a distance energy reading for someone. But something was wrong; I couldn't see clearly. In fact it looked like they were consumed by a black void... then presently a lighter blue color was around the blackness, then white, then dark blue. It was no energy I was familiar with and I double-checked with the person that they had no magical protections to stop me from Seeing them.
"Oh, the only ward I didn't take down was my nazar." 🧿🧿🧿🧿
I have Very Silly Tendons, and in the morning I usually have a painful limp for several minutes until my foot stretches out. That is, of course, unless I remember to do a very simple energy exercise the night before. Then my foot is as loose and supple as a bowl of buttered noodles.
Once, I cast a spell using the planetary energies of Mercury in order to secure a good deal on a used van. I put in very specific requirements, and asked that if I tried to buy a van that didn't meet these requirements, that the elementals would stop me and not let the deal go through. Immediately after I cast the spell I found a van which was disqualified from the list, but I reallllly wanted it. I contacted the Craiglist seller, who didn't respond for a couple of days, but the listing stayed up.
The next morning my friend contacts me. She says she had a dream that yellow tornadoes came and told her to give me a message; that I was making a mistake.
Well if you know Mercury, then you know yellow airy energies are really his thing.
I immediately set up the spell again, retracted my requests, and apologized for going against what I said I wanted.
The seller contacted me within the hour, and I got the van.

Any word of advice for Sun girlies how to protect herself from evil eye?
light bubble meditation!! always visualise a circle of light around yourself. one of the best ways to build your "aura" or cultivate magnetism is to have an energy shield around you at all times. it's not rocket science, just close your eyes and visualise light surrounding you and keeping you protected.
some of the next tips are a little out there but if you're so inclined do try them:
Basil/Tulsi is known for its cleansing properties and we use it a lot in India. I recommend putting a stem of basil in your pillow (my nightmares went away after I did this) or putting a stem of basil in your bra when you go out (or your pocket). It's a powerful remedy against evil eye.
Consecrate an object of your choice, preferably something small and dainty (a crystal, a sea shell, a pebble, a feather, you don't want to pick something that carries any karmic energy) by chanting to it, meditating with it and suffusing it with your energy. Then carry it with you everywhere, in your bag or purse or whatever. It's like a good luck charm that's custom made for u
Pray to your Ishta devata. Sally Kempton talks a lot about goddess worship and I suggest watching her videos or reading her book Awakening Shakti but this is life changing!!! Obviously its not wise to casually dabble in Hinduism and deity worship so please study them, read as much as you can and gather as much info as you can. You'll naturally feel drawn to one Goddess over others and praying to her will keep you protected. Bhakti (devotion) is the greatest armour. I have called upon the goddess during times of immense turmoil and she's always helped me navigate with grace BUT you should never make a deity feel "used". If you're praying, pray everyday, not just when something goes wrong. Think of it as a relationship you build with someone. You have to show up and communicate with them everyday, only then will they want to be your aid in times of need. Give thanks. Always.
Black thread. I guess this could again count as appropriating Hinduism but 😬 compared to deity worship, this is nothing. Here's an article explaining it. Basically, wearing a black thread on your left leg will keep nazar away.
Burn incense/sage bc it purifies the energy of the space
SALT also cleanses. take a bath after mixing a few spoons of salt in the water and watch the effect it has on u.
The thing about evil eye is that it affects people who are spiritually fragile. They do not have an energy shield protecting them so they're susceptible to every kind of influence (they're easily influenced) and suffer the consequences of negativity more than others. Some people thrive in life no matter how much shit is thrown at them. Nothing affects them much. Others crumble easily in the face of even the smallest hardship or bitterness. That's bc they're spiritually weak. You have to build a spiritual base that is so strong nothing can shake you. Evil eye can't hurt you if your relationship with the divine is 💪strong af bc God is bigger than any evil. And perhaps many of you dabble in astrology for fun and don't believe in God but vedic astrology kind of requires a relationship with the divine. Literally the remedy for any kind of issue in your birth chart is to pray.
I feel like many people have a passive understanding of prayer but it's a very purposeful exercise of faith. Finding time in your day and devoting it to God is a way to engage in conversation with yourself. If you hate/are afraid of God, that is a reflection of you and what you've been raised to believe. Once you really get into it, you'll understand that God is love and honestly prayer time is the happiest time of the day for me. My heart feels so full. Whenever I don't pray, I feel so closed off bc my heart is longing for that supreme love. You make your life feel purposeful by acting with intention and making the ordinary sacred and ritualising experiences. If you live like nothing matters, that's what will be reflected back. Your world and what you make of your experiences is a reflection of you 🫶 so make a temple of your mind
Sorry for long ramble but yk that's how I am by now 😌🤪

Looking at the stats, South Carolina is going to feel the loss of Cardoso. It will be interesting to see who steps up as the leader next year, with her gone. If all stay healthy, uconn have a good chance because they have all been forced to step up with the losses of azzi and Paige at times, so the loss of Aaliyah and Nika will have less of an effect. Also, I don’t think anyone wants the natty more than Paige does, and she really is born for those moments, so I’m expecting a superstar performance from her. Uconn as a whole has more strong shooters, especially if Azzi comes back better than she was before (which I think she will, especially her mentality and passiveness in games). Defence is going to be their loss, but hopefully the freshies and Jana can make a big difference there. U reckon uconn will manage to win a natty against South Carolina?
i am avoiding nazar at all costs like no evil eye i’m so scared 🪬 🧿 so i won’t be answering that last question
i think that south carolina right now is becoming the sort of powerhouse dynasty program that uconn was in the 2010’s. consider a team that lost all 5 starters last year sent five players to the nba coming back and winning a natty. the depth of the gamecocks’ program is just fucking insane, but the reason it worked so well this year is because they were able to fulfill the size factor in the loss of aliyah boston. far be it from me to doubt dawn staley EVER, but losing a center is a lot more difficult than losing a guard or a regular forward. it’s not an easy position to replace. i think they’re going to struggle a little on the frontcourt on that end.
on the other hand, and i’m not the only one who says this, uconn has a huge next man up mentality. the past few seasons, ESPECIALLY this season, south carolina has had the luxury of a deep bench. we don’t have that. we haven’t had that in a long time. i don’t want to diminish aaliyah and nika’s value by saying their loss isn’t a huge hit, because it is, and it will be. while paige and azzi have been inconsistent in the lineup, aaliyah and nika are the two most consistent players uconn has had over the last four years. it’s going to be hard to fill that hole.
what i WILL say is that i see nika’s defensive grit in ash and kk, and that paige’s defensive game has improved tremendously. i WILL say that jana has been fortunate enough to watch aaliyah for a season and a half, that sarah strong is going to be a huge addition, and that paige isn’t a big by any means now, but she’s added some post moves to her bag. i hope to god that azzi’s worked on her confidence on the floor because she is a fucking bucket. we have a lot more pieces (inshallah) to put on the floor this year. i’m excited.

Star Wars Culture Week Day 3 - S.P.I.R @starwarscultureweek
The evil eye is born of jealousy. Consequences of having it cast on you can be minor, like illness, or major, like death. To keep themselves safe from the evil eye, a nazar boncuk was made. It is hung in homes or worn on your person. The Twi’leks created ear cone rings for them to be worn, where the Togruta prefer to hang the nazar on their walls. But the intent is always the same - to be shielded from harm.
"Nazar değmesin." A popular saying that means you hope the evil eye does not touch them. Effectively, good luck to you, touch wood, etc.
(Referenced from my culture - Turkish. Though Turkey isn’t the only culture that has this practice. You’ll often find the nazar in other countries, and the belief of the evil eye spans over thousands of years of history in many religions. All of these are items that I own and wear. I probably have about 15 nazar in total!)

November witchy asks 13 👀
13. What's your favorite prayer or charm at the moment?
Since I've shared my favorite prayer and it hasn't changed yet... I'll share my current favorite charm:
I've charmed a golden Nazar bracelet to ward off the evil eye specifically in matters that concern my finances and property. I've been wearing it more often and somehow it's been consistently helping me get better deals and save money 🤣 which... isn't exactly the effect that I expected from it, but it's definitely useful !
If you want to make one, I recommend including this little charm in your rituals, taken from Folk Witchcraft by Roger J. Horne:
Three Ladies roamed sea and land, each with a piece of gold on their hand: the first one said "I want some", the second one said "I need some", the third one said "I have some, just as I wished, plenty of gold to fill my dish".
Thanks for asking ! 💛

INTERACTIVE TV SHOWS IN REAL LIFE
IM A CELEBRITY GET ME OUT OF HERE
celebrities go through a ramadan matrix (hunger solves tactics with gut intuition: social revolt), that is going to affect a world after you live even if you did it (judgement day as it's known to celebrities keeping up with the Kardashians with role maternal models of a household with the giants (Muslim household's who knew you too well)
CELEBRITIES ON THE SHOW
ACTOR'S HELL: life plan to be among society without nazar break (zombie apocalypse)
you're going to be chosen by the Queen to see how worthy you are by hunger relations (they all knew that you were going to make it out alive)
you are chosen now but expected to be played on in 9 years after being there (you prepare the role by social history being wiped off for good, okay so you reverted to Islam. good for you, now make a point to be proven true for your shameless anger to be justified on star trek (you seen the point from x-files now made that your philosophy)
no reason in you having fun is you making the neuro-divergent community look good for a first star of the reason why now ant&dec got a TV evangellion (heartbreak going rogue) going on and you loved them to love me (UK based first ever superhero of that community having more than one alias become rags to riches from that same effect)
2. HARBINGER'S: in actual reality of the show
TV presenter's don't ask but neither do you do so it will be house rules, you have mercy, sincerely a lot of mercy in your heart to risk it all (sham's al-ma'araf) to make sure there are not any reason to be in love in real life (you gamble (what you know you'll get back) your soul (your future partner) away for a better perception, so you know where this would lead to starvation and hunger which is why your wealth does not exist anymore but pertained to by family (what you gained goes back to your mother exclusively)
you're in a strict routine for 3 weeks (which feels way too slow but you want to appeal for the camera's more than you do with now arrogant TV show presenters telling you what to do (just like the life of a day of a Queen which is why they always are open in interviews but have an NDA (basically a privacy agreement with you being enclosed to agree with details which is how some contestants also give away their home with it because of their lives being attached to a person of relative of dimension and space (reason why they were too heartbroken for good)
you're more attached to reason which is why they always say 'the experience is like Stranger Things in real life (whatever i say on the blog is true and it's from a book that 'she' left off incomplete because she wanted to find sense which is why Dec knew her all too well by theory (struggling with religious trauma as a ND is like social hellfire which is why now Dec faced with the adam and eve of relative of dimension of time and space which is how he knew the psychopathic energy becomes one with song instead of realisation of the world right now: messy past with no heartbreak but a strong eternal vicinity to common sense which they both never had)
3. MAESTRO BECOME: being yourself
you don't have that anymore (hence why Dec is Two Face in DC comics my Raven (both understood maniacal natures of social martyrdom)
4. DANTE'S PARADOX: you hate to do it which is sincerity coming at a cost is hunger games but you don't die to win but you die to make a point is how humour is always there
you're there to make sure your fanbase is taken care of (November is her favourite month)
you don't care anymore (like JW in routine but you knew)
social paralysis: you change character with the thought of living as her which is why you don't shit talk to change the timeline til known (she gets married)
5. JUDGEMENT DAY: you don't want to do it (you're in the trials)
you don't care (she finds you authentic)
you want to do it again (sexual mercy is you competing for a good time, so it is authentic)
you like to be around MUSLIM'S, like that is their vibe so it's ur family who's gonna get the green light from doing it in real time (they knew the expenses of you being a non-asian man/woman but they liked how you vibed the 'thot' to be a good 'decent' honest black man (their religious history)
6. GAIMAN'S HELL: shit shit shit shit shit
you're honest, that's a first (whatever she rewatches, you go back in there for) she Allah now
you're gonna die one day if she knew you in person (you fucked her over at Hillcrest (bonus if you knew where)
how did you end up in my own home (Jahannam)
7. BABYLON UNBROKEN: yay.... what did i win?
did you do your housework? (she will know your routine is just like hers everyday)
you're in the cave (you understood the 'welcome home scenario' all too well is how everybody likes dec til he knew he knows someone else got the pun: commit a crime against Stewart Francis and she'll take you to hell for free via her blog is how as a collective, you want Demi Lovato to go on the show more than you do to see where and why you're laughing at her jokes as Whoopi Goldberg on Ghost and you knew Swayze backfired her to be with his gyal at the side sharing the same name (Demi Moore) like thats the pun to her ending (puppet Demi walking away from a punch and judy scenario)
you did it, you live it (you're Linna Riaz now)
8. KINGDOM COME: now what (Pegg and Frost narrative is you as him as you as yourself (what will Jonathan Groff do next?)
what the fuck is on Hamilton happened on i'm a celeb (no point loser, now get your hands off my ass and get backtoyourwifeinreallife): ends demi's discography in real life that not even Taylor Swift can pin point Dec's misogyny over the red scarf scenario (women were tricked to do Linna's work for free is who is actually honest to her in real life is knowing who they did this for (the life of their parents in the 80's is knowing who meant the world for one little reason to have a Pakistani follow up by reminiscing her life of the world inside her world by a thought and not a theory (you would have done it straight away if you're not tarot calling Linna being your PR than having her resonate with you by dream than reality check is 'buying common sense from her life being you' so you have no scenario than having you do it all for her which is why an idiot will try and take over the world knowing the end to her puppet dilemma is how you will not be forged to be the victim alias on Of Mice and Men (John Steinbeck) to forgiving yourself on An Inspector Calls (not even a reality check from the name of obvious singer/songwriter who made you believe her is you being a devout Jeff Buckley fan than relating his end is how he wrote the book J.B. Priestley is why you'll never see the beginning is the end of you is how you believe, so if you don't have that body resonating your fame is how you'll die the hard way by making one chase hunger to find peace is your fallout (by heart is the hair of her arms, so you knew but hated her in actual reality is why you're getting the blunt check from Dec, so you knew him as a villager went into the world of a shop market dealer (actual area in Pakistan by the Punjab is family association by the world of Pushing Daisies, and it's TV rhetoric from there is how you knew your fandom become is your oncoming (death but long-lasting paralysis is you being you alternatively you to be 'her' (Queen of your own home is a beauty to be seen by psychological checks of your society become is your society to die for): you in the end have to avoid the grave by eliminating all costs of hunger like a devolved society your soul hates to claim it back (a social reason to be with someone is that you risk your world for your mother to live on as a friend than an enemy)
you knew everybody by then so make associations (your last chance in belief)
you may never make it is how you know you lived as her (she respects the TV show narrative even deeply is knowing the odds don't go in her favour but it did (her earth is on a 3H saturn, she's at peace there)
9. PYTHAGOREAN THEOREM: only hope
you'll die before you live (your body falls out of time but your breath is your soul living on is knowing how you'd escape the prison last (she is not far on prisonbreak but you are)
you're not allowed to be yourself (find ways to escape that by moral tasks in real life)
you win is what you'll never get (true peace is purity in knowing you satisfied by daybreak is how the world moves on after you're dead) nobody cares, but you do. is how you'll never see the corpse the same way again (by intuitive sincerity)

(Dec. 29) [Article] by Afnan Abu Yahia & Lila Hassan
Title & subtitle:
The Impossibility of Reporting the Story of Gaza: The work of Gaza’s journalists has been essential these past months, but as the challenges of reporting continue to mount, the world is getting only a fraction of the story.
Article text:
Samer Abu Daqqa loved being a journalist. A cameraman for over 20 years with Al Jazeera, Abu Daqqa, 45, had covered at least seven wars. Israel’s war on Gaza, however, would turn out to be his last.
While covering an air strike at a United Nations–run school on December 15, Israeli forces shot Abu Daqqa. Intense shelling prevented an ambulance from reaching him—three paramedics were killed trying to get to the area—and he was left to bleed for over five hours, succumbing to his injuries just as the Palestinian Health Ministry got approval from the Israeli military to retrieve him. In the end, they brought his body to the hospital, where his family said goodbye. Medical workers removed his bloodied press vest and helmet, which were placed over his body at his funeral.
Since the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza, which has now killed more than 20,000 Palestinians, journalists have been on the front lines, both as witnesses and victims. For more than two months, as Israel has rained bombs on Gaza, they have rushed from refugee camps to hospitals, and from hospitals to schools and back, trying to stay safe while covering what they describe as their own genocide. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, 68 journalists have been killed in Gaza, Israel, and Lebanon since October 7, making this the deadliest conflict since the CPJ began tallying press fatalities. The International Federation of Journalists estimates that at least 66 journalists have been killed in Gaza alone. Many have also lost their families. On October 26, Ahmed Abu Artema, a contributor to The Nation as well as a poet and activist, was seriously injured and lost his young son when Israel bombed his father’s house.
“What is happening now is unprecedented,” said Sherif Mansour, the Middle East and North Africa program coordinator at the CPJ. In 2022, the CPJ reported that a total of 68 journalists and media workers were killed worldwide; Gaza reached that number in just over two months.
Journalists, said Mansour, “are the ones on the front lines and they are the ones we need the most, but they are also the most vulnerable.”
It’s hard to overestimate the importance of the Palestinian journalists in Gaza right now. They, after all, are the only ones who have been reporting from the Strip since Israel instituted a total siege on October 9 and banned foreign press from entering. Their work has been essential and their commitment unceasing; yet, as the weeks have passed, the mounting challenges of reporting have meant that the world outside of Gaza is getting only a fraction of the story. Even social media has offered only a partial solution, as many of the platforms regularly censor Palestinian voices.
By far, the biggest challenge for journalists is simply staying alive. The struggle to survive while reporting is an all-consuming endeavor. But this struggle has been seriously compounded both by the conditions of war and the shattering effects of Israel’s total siege of the Strip. Food and water are scarce; fuel is dwindling, electricity inconsistent, and cell phone service undependable; many journalists no longer even have homes to return to.
For journalists, this has meant everything from reporting on empty stomachs to writing up stories while worrying about when and how they will find water. One journalist has used Gaza’s salty seawater to bathe, and another said he shared half a liter of clean water for four days with colleagues. Meanwhile, it has become normal to wait for food in hours-long lines and still not manage to buy anything, said Nazar Sadawi, a correspondent with Turkish Radio and Television. “I don’t have the luxury of time. I don’t have 10 hours to wait for my turn,” he said, explaining that instead he lives mostly off of bread, tea, and biscuits. “Aid trucks bring in canned beans, water, and some medicine, but it doesn’t even meet 5 percent of the need. We can literally reach a famine.”
Sadawi left the north for the south after Israel issued an evacuation warning on October 11 to the entirety of north Gaza’s 1.1 million people. “You can call me homeless” or a “displaced person,” he said. The neighborhood around his home has since been bombed, and his parents’ house as well as his car have been destroyed in Israeli air strikes. With whole buildings either completely or partially destroyed, finding anywhere with a bed or couch is near impossible. Sadawi is lucky to get two to three hours of sleep, he said, usually on a hospital chair on the sidewalk, and without a blanket. “I don’t have clothes. I left those at home,” he said. The hospital is also where he showers and uses the restroom, which also requires waiting in hours-long lines.
Meanwhile, Sadawi said, the frequent shutdowns of Internet and cellular service have meant that reporting has reverted to old-school methods—trekking from area to area over debris and destroyed roads, surveying survivors and witnesses for casualty numbers, and listening to the radio for context and conditions. “The news that I used to get in three minutes I now get in an hour or two,” he said.
Before Gaza lost consistent access to the Internet and cellular service, journalists used to call each other to swap information. But now, “I call the people who are covering air strikes 20 times for the line just to connect, and just so I can check on if they’re still alive,” he said. Satellite phones could solve this, but Sadawi said it’s impossible to obtain one now given the blockade. “Only five journalists probably have them, and they got them before the war,” he said. Often, Sadawi has to pick between calling his family or the woman he loves. “She lives somewhere I can’t reach.”
Journalists no longer keep regular working hours. Because Israel has stopped “roof knocking”—alerting people when an air strike is incoming—journalists cover the aftermath at all times of the day, but they are eager to be sheltered by sunset (around 5 pm), because shelling is strongest in pitch-black conditions. And because the bombardment is constant, the noise, as well as nightmares make it hard to sleep—something both interviews and a survey of journalists’ social media posts show.
This, along with the trauma of lost loved ones, lost homes, constant fear, and the relentless sight of death, is wreaking havoc on journalists’ future mental health, said Ghazi Aloul, a Roya News correspondent. Aloul, who has spent only six hours at home since November, is living in the same areas he is covering, relying on hospitals for rest and charging his equipment. “I have experienced many painful moments in this war,” Aloul said. “Previous wars were not this brutal.”
Within this landscape of brutality, “the most sensitive scenes for me to see are children bleeding and injured, because immediately I think of my little 2-and-a-half-year-old girl,” he said. Still, he keeps working. “I try to stay firm and convey my work, photographs, and the truth, because my daughter could be among the dead, and I would need someone to convey her voice and image,” he added.
Aloul says that he himself is not afraid to die. ”If that’s my destiny, then so be it,” he said. But he cannot bear the idea of losing his loved ones. “Experiencing loss is extremely painful and unbearable, and that’s what I can’t get out of my head.”
As the stories of murdered journalists have mounted, many in Gaza have come to suspect that Israel is deliberately targeting the press. This fear became particularly acute after an Israeli air strike hit and killed the place where the family of Aljazeera’s Gaza bureau chief, Wael Aldahdouh, was sheltering. “They are taking revenge on us through our children,” he said, sitting next to his dead son’s body. On December 15, Aldahdouh was shot in the arm while reporting on an air strike on Haifa School in Khan Younis; it was during the same reporting trip that Abu Duqqa was shot and killed.
Israel’s military has repeatedly denied that it targets journalists. “The IDF takes all operationally feasible measures to protect both civilians and journalists. The IDF has never, and will never, deliberately target journalists,” a spokesperson told The Nation. “Given the ongoing exchanges of fire, remaining in an active combat zone has inherent risks. The IDF will continue to counter threats while persisting to mitigate harm to civilians.”
Yet the IDF’s actions have continued to raise questions for journalists, as have statements from the Israeli press. Hours after the strike that killed Aldahdou’s family, Avi Yehekli, of Israel’s Channel 13, said, “Generally, we know the target. Like today, there was a target on the family of an Aljazeera journalist.”
Meanwhile, as fear of being targeted by an Israeli air strike has grown, The Nation found that several journalists have pleaded with others in their profession not to add a location to their social-media posts. Aseel Moussa, a correspondent in Gaza with Middle East Eye, believes that Israel will continue to kill journalists because it has never been held accountable in the past. (From 2000 to 2022, Israel killed 55 Palestinian journalists, according to the Palestinian News Agency. Last year, Israel admitted, after several months of denials, that it was responsible for shooting and killing Palestinian-American Shireen Abu Akleh.)
“There is nowhere safe in Gaza for anyone of any profession,” said Moussa, who evacuated eastern Gaza for the south last month only to be met with more bombing. Two days before our interview, Moussa said, her relatives’ home was hit, killing nine family members. Seven were children.
Compounding all of these horrors is the painful reality that, even when journalists do manage to report, their stories can have limited reach. For years, digital rights groups and tech watchdogs have claimed that Meta censors content related to Palestine and that it also monitors Arabic content more excessively than it does Hebrew content. Last week, Human Rights Watch found that Meta systematically censors Palestinian content around the world.
This kind of shadow banning, as it is called, stymies the world’s access to content coming out of Gaza. Motaz Azaiza, a photojournalist who has gained a global following of over 17 million followers on Instagram and was named GQ Middle East’s Man of the Year, shared screenshots from Meta indicating that he’d violated Instagram’s community guidelines for posting images; he also shared notifications alerting him that some of his content had been taken down. Meta has not responded to multiple requests for comment.
Still, despite the mounting threats and dangers, what matters to Middle East Eye’s Moussa most is his work. “When I can’t publish my articles or cover the stories around me, that’s when my feelings of helplessness deepen,” he said.
And so, journalists keep reporting, knowing that it might lead to their death. In the last month, several journalists have written their own anticipated obituaries online, sharing their last words, and predicting their own deaths. Roshdi Sarraj, an admired journalist whom Moussa described as “at the top of the field,” was one of them. In one of his last personal posts, Sarraj wrote on Facebook: “We will not leave. And when we do leave Gaza, we will go to the sky, and the sky only.” He was killed days later in an air strike, survived by his wife and baby girl, who turned 1 on November 6.

The Evil Eye: What is it? How Can I protect Myself? Personal Life Update & Experience With The Evil Eye.
I’d like to start off this blog post with an apology, I completely forgot about yesterday’s blog post. This was because I had a family emergency in which I’ll explain further down the post. Feel free to skip the personal life update as it can be put simply: family dog crossed the rainbow bridge unexpectedly last weekend and I’m grieving.
Have you ever met someone that doesn’t like you? Perhaps they envy you or wish you nothing but the worst for you. Or maybe you’ve done this yourself wishing that one shitty co-worker would step on legos bare foot or get their soaks drenched and possibly wished that their pillow is always warm. The Evil Eye, Nazar, or in Latinx/Hispanic cultures may call it Mal De Ojos and in Italy they refer to it as Malocchico. With the uprise of spirituality, the evil eye has been noticed and mentioned more and more. So before we dive right into this grab your favorite drink and snack, your fur baby, and get cozy cause we’re gonna talk about The Evil Eye.
What is The Evil Eye?
The Evil Eye is a hex, curse, jinx or simply bad energy/harmful wishes, thoughts and desires that is casted upon the u aware victim by giving the victim a ‘evil’ glare. This glare is spiteful. Envious. Enraged. Hateful. Mean. You name it there is ill will intertwined with it. However, nowadays you will see beads, bracelets, necklaces, amulets, mini tress, rings, car accessories and more with the blue amulet that looks like this 🧿. You can find this amulet in different colors, styles, and in different shops like Etsy, Amazon, Earth Bound Trading Co. (I think). And any spiritual and metaphysical shop. Some people have even tattooed this symbol onto their bodies with reports of it later fading away as time went on. The goal of this amulet is to protect you and shield you from the negative energy being sent your way. It is also known to have a return to sender effect and send that nasty energy back to the source.
This amulet is said to have its origins traced back to the country of Turkey and a couple middle eastern countries. In some cultures it’s an incantation while in others it’s a physical symbol.
How Do I Protect Myself?
So The Evil Eye can be either intentionally or be mistakenly done without the caster’s knowledge. In order to protect yourself, you should understand what the colors mean that way you can protect yourself accordingly to your specific situation.
Dark Blue: protects your fate/karma, communication and how to circumnavigate chaos
Light Blue: Basic protection, opening your mind up, peace
Black: I hear black can also transmute the negative energy and turn it into positive energy for the wearer (if this is true share you stories), power and prosperity
Brown: Earthly connections
Orange: creativity and happiness (could possibly help with your inner child work)
Dark Green: life balance and happiness
Light Green: Success, health and power
Violet: protects your love life, boosts intuition and communication
Red: protects you from anxiety and fear, boosts energy, confidence
Pink: (I hear it can protect your love life too and if it’s true please share your stories), helps keep you calm, save friendships, happiness
Purple: takes obstacles away, life balance
Yellow: protects health, protects you from burning out
Grey:soothes intense energies, protects against sorrow, makes one feel secure
White: Purifies, removal of obstacles
Now that you know what color you need, you can wear it, or keep one on your keys, keep one in the car or hand some up in your home. Be sure to cleanse it though because you do not know the person who handled it before and what kind of energy they got. You can draw it too on a canvas but as always be sure to cleanse your tools before doing any sort of witchy project! Also if it breaks or explodes, get a new one ASAP. DO NOT FIX IT. if it breaks it has served its purpose.
Personal Life Update
⚠️TRIGGER WARNING ⚠️ TW: MENTION OF ANIMAL DEATH, ANIMAL SURGERY, ANIMAL BASED INFECTION, GREIF
So, one of my family dogs died last week Saturday. I was at work when I got the call from my step mom telling me the dog is extremely sick with a uterine infection and that she is going to need surgery. The surgery was high risk, but it was a risk my family was willing to take to try and save her. The doctor took labs and x-rays and saw that her reproductive organs haven’t ruptured and the surgery would need to happen that night. My family opted to put her through surgery to try and save her. How ever by the time the doctor got in, it was far too late. Not only was it ruptured, she had gone septic. Her whole body was infected. Her survival rate went from a 50% to 0%, her quality of life would be extremely poor.
I refuse to go into the gore parts of it because it’s just too graphic to share with all of you and it’s haunting to still think about. This grief based scar is still fresh in my mind. I was extremely devastated by the details and once I got home from work she had been euthanized humanely. Now this infection happens suddenly, especially in intact female dogs who are not spayed and haven’t had puppies. Some breeds are more likely to get this infection than other breeds. Now, the dog did not show signs of discomfort, pain or suffering prior to the emergency vet visit, not until the very end as she stopped eating and walking suddenly. This infection happens quickly, so quickly in fact that the best way to avoid this is to spay your dog as soon as they’re eligible. I cannot begin to describe how sudden this all was. This past week feels so unreal, after work that night I screamed in my car before I drove home. I cried all night, I couldn’t eat, my boyfriend ended up driving me to Jack in The Box to get us comfort food that way I can eat. I cried talking to him over the phone keeping him updated about it too while he was working. I called off of work that same night. The dog that passed was never fixed due to the vet costs.
I want you guys to take this story to heart, not in a mean vengeful way, but as a PSA and cautionary tale. For the love of the gods, please, fix your dogs. Cats. whatever animal you have whether it’s a boy or girl. Neuter and spay them if you have no intention to breed them. Please look into local resources that can help get your dogs fixed at a reasonable cost, ask for that extra $50. Skip that Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks. You don’t need that new eyeshadow palette from Ulta. My family is very responsible with the animals, I want to emphasize that, because even the most responsible pet owners still can experience unexpected tragedies. Even if they’re prepared for the worst.
Personal Experience With The Evil Eye
So, now my experience is low key silly, but to make a long story short, before I got with my partner, I met this other guy who, I didn’t realize at the time was a complete pile of shit. I put workings on us to have him dump his GF and to get with me.(see where this is going?) Well, hail Loki those workings didn’t get too far as I met my boyfriend and got with him. Other time, I reversed some of the workings expect for the break up and domination ones (I was more focused of getting this pile of shit who I refer to as Dollar Tree Danny Zuko out of my energy.) I also need to mention that it is confirmed he treats his GF like crap too, hence why I didn’t reverse some of the workings. When I reversed the binding work, the next day I got a reading detailing what may happen as the working progresses. Not even half an hour later, my evil eye bracelet, exploded. I was putting on a shirt, it didn’t snag on a string or anything. I put on one of my Steven Rhodes shirts and it exploded all over my bedroom. Luckily I had a couple more evil eye jewelry as back ups in case of the event it would happen again.
I also like to mention that Loki does NOT like Dollar Tree Danny Zuko. Here is how they describe him:

Epilogue
There you have it, a long boi post to try and make up for Friday’s forgotten post. I do apologize for the personal life update. But Grieving the loss of a pet is one of the most difficult things to experience. My family’s other dog is grieving as well, my sister pampered her today with a bath and quality time as they both mourn (they’re soul mates ISTG). For more information on The Evil Eye, there is a book on Amazon that goes more in depth about this topic. If you would like to go on a head and read it, cool, unless you wanna wait for me to review it, because I got bills coming up and I’m on call for work right now so I’m doing everything I can not to spend unless there is a sale for E-books. I look forward to posting on time next week. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope I get to see y’all next week! Until next time I’ll catch y’all on the flip side! PROTECTIVE AMULETS AGAINST ENVY
Envy is caused by the insecurity and frustration of not being able to get what others have, and it is one of the most common feelings among friends, relatives, colleagues and sometimes even neighbors, someone wants your partner, your work or simply envy your brightness etc ... Fortunately there are rituals and amulets within our reach that will help us drive away these bad energies, on this occasion I will tell you about some RITUALS AND AMULETS to fight envy and attract prosperity and protection..
HORSE SHOE
the horseshoe is an amulet, which has been used
For a long time to attract good luck and open paths, it had to be found and used by a horse to have all the energy that a free-spirited animal represents. the horseshoe is placed on the main door of the house and adorned with 7 different types of ribbons, some accompanied by the miraculous aloe vera.
TURKISH EYE
The Turkish eye or also known as nazar, possesses protective characteristics that will ward off any energy of envy and bad deeds around you.
Simply use this amulet, either in a bracelet or necklace.
RED RIBBON/ RED THREAD
This is one of the most common amulets against envy and bad vibes. It is part of the general culture, the awareness of using a red ribbon can ward off people full of pessimism and bad luck. For this, all you have to do is surround the left wrist with a red ribbon. This can be closed with 7 Franciscan knots, so you will have its protective effects. It is very important that you use the red ribbon on your left hand because from that hand you receive energy and from the other you deliver it.
There are different theories on how to place the red ribbon or thread, most say that it must be placed by another person with good energy and that he must tie 7 knots. This is undoubtedly a very popular anti-envy ritual that is simple to perform and will keep people with bad intentions away.
GARLIC
If you are looking for how to ward off the envy of the people around you, you should know that garlic is considered in esotericism as a great element to repel bad vibrations. If you have a wallet or a place where you can load a male garlic or a clove of garlic you can also put it inside a felt bag or similar material, do it, as it is a powerful amulet to ward off the envious to which they cause us negative effects.
If you don't like the idea of walking around with a clove of garlic but you want to protect a particular space, you can also leave the garlic well hidden and covered to prevent it from giving off a bad smell. It is one of the best protection amulets to get rid of bad energy in your business or home. You can also combine garlic with other natural amulets against bad vibes, such as laurel and parsley in fact together they become a protection ritual.
RUE
Rue is the natural protective element par excellence. Carrying a twig in your wallet or pocket is said to be enough to counteract the bad energies of these dark and negative people. If you feel that people of these characteristics have passed by your home, prepare an herbal tea with rue and spray the environment with a sprayer. If you're looking for ways to keep bad vibes away from your home, plant two rue on each side of your front door. It is a very popular plant for these purposes.
You can also prepare a rue water to sprinkle around the room.
THYME
An old esoteric trick to protect yourself from people who bring bad luck is to place a drop of thyme essential oil behind each ear or on your wrists. Thus you will be able to drive away the negative vibes of envious people It camouflages itself as a perfume as it has a sweet pleasant aroma and at the same time protects you. Thyme can also be part of a bath to cleanse the body of bad energy along with rue and bay leaf.
If you're wondering how to ward off bad vibes you need to know that thyme is just one of many herbs that attract positive energy. Mint, bamboo, and jasmine are other plants that are considered magical that will help you purge negativity from your environment.
ONION
Cleaning your home from negative energies is very easy, you just need sliced onions. If you have had an encounter with people with bad energy or somehow they have entered your home you can always count on the power of onions.
You have to carry out a simple ritual with onions which is done like this: cut them into slices and place them in ceramic dishes that you have to distribute throughout your house. Leave them to act with the windows open and then quickly throw them in a bag outside the house. It is one of those simple rituals and charms against envy that you can apply at any time.
ALOE VERA
Some hang an aloe vera plant by the root on the right side of the door of the house or attached to a red bow to protect themselves from the influence of negative energies or from envy.
