National Artichoke Day
These spiky green vegetables may look intimidating, but don't be fooled! Once you get past the outer leaves, you'll find a tender and delicious heart that's worth the effort.
Have fun and be healthy on this day that celebrates this delicious vegetable that is chock full of nutrients and health benefits. It’s time for National Artichoke Day!
Classified as a vegetable, an artichoke is actually the flower bud of a thistle that has yet to grow to maturity. Grown in warm climates, in places such as California, France, and Spain, artichokes are popular in European dishes, as well as in the United States. And for those who have experienced them when prepared well, artichokes can bring a great deal of joy and flavor to a variety of dishes. Plus, they’re good for you too!
History of National Artichoke Day
It is believed that artichokes were first harvested by those living in the Middle East, the plant is likely native to the Mediterranean. In fact, some experts surmise that artichokes are one of the world’s oldest foods!
In the 1400s, artichokes became popular in Tuscany, specifically in Florence, Italy. From there, their popularity spread throughout Europe and eventually to the US, in the 1800s. They finally made it to California via Italian immigrants in the early 1900s and they became a huge hit. Today, California grows almost all of the artichokes produced in the United States.
How to Celebrate National Artichoke Day
Have a blast celebrating National Artichoke Day with some fun events and activities. Implement some of your own delightful ideas or try out some of these:
Eat Artichokes, Of Course
The most obvious and best way to enjoy National Artichoke Day is by cooking some up and eating them. Those who cook them all the time can have some fun getting creative with recipes for artichokes with a wide variety of opportunities for preparing them: baked, grilled, steamed, boiled, roasted, or even sauteed. Season with salt, pepper, lemon juice, butter and so many other options!
Fun Facts About Artichokes
Learn some delightful fun facts and bits of trivia about artichokes in honor of National Artichoke Day. Then share them with friends, family, coworkers and more! Get started with some of these:
Artichokes are technically a member of the sunflower family.
Artichoke plants don’t last long. Each plant only produces artichokes for 5-10 years.
Artichoke plants are fairly large in size. They grow to be around 6 feet wide and approximately 3-4 feet tall.
Marilyn Monroe, iconic American Actress, held the title of the inaugural “Artichoke Queen” in Castroville, California in 1948, when she was 22 years old.
Plan to Attend the Artichoke Festival
Though the festival takes place later in the year, National Artichoke Day would be a great time to make plans to attend. Taking place each year in Castroville, California, the Artichoke Festival usually falls on the first or second weekend in June. Attendees can enjoy festivities such as a charity golf tournament, children’s games and activities, live music performances, three-dimensional AgroArt competitions, dancing performances and so much more to enjoy. And everything is creatively based on the all-important theme of artichokes!

Try to learn about the old foods
Tumblr media
I have most recently started to meal prep, with making a lot of foods and putting them in the freezer. This ended up allowing me to buy the foods in bulk from the local market. And, well... This allowed me to eat some of the foods that the supermarket does not have.
We do have a bit of a problem. And that problem mostly is that we got our food kinda messed up. Because people have lost the connection to the food they eat. But also because of colonialism.
The big thing that happened is, that we lost contact with most local foods. No matter where I go in the "first world nations"... The foods offered to me in the supermarkets are the same - and they also look the same.
This means that a lot of people have no real idea, what foods came from where in the world - but also do not know half of the foods that originated with where they are from, because they are not easily available.
Tumblr media
Tomatoes are an example. Not only did historical tomatoes look and taste very differently from the tomatoes we eat today, but obviously... they came from the Americas. So they are not a food that originated with Europe and was not widely available in Europe until the 1600s. While, yes, the first tomates came here more than a hundred years earlier... it took a while for them to catch on.
Tumblr media
This is parsnip. Another root vegetable that was commonly eaten in Europe for most of history. It has a more intensive taste than the usual carrot - but is also not that different from it, when it comes to consistency and how it is going to cook.
Tumblr media
This is fennel. You might know fennel seeds as a spice or something you might drink as a tea. But the rest of the plant is edible, too, and a surprisingly strong flavored vegetable. It also is very crunchy and makes a really great addition to salads. But it is often not really sold in many places.
Tumblr media
This is the Jerusalem Artichoke, another vegetable that originates within the Americas. To be exact, this is the root of a kind of sunflower. It got its name for being very similar in taste and tecture to the Artichoke. I honestly do not know, though, why it is called "Jerusalem Artichoke", because it does not have anything to do with Jerusalem.
Tumblr media
The Potimarron is a kind of squash that - like basically all other forms of squash - originates in the Americas as well. It has a very nutty flavor. In Europe it was very popular in France for a long while, hence the french name. It has tons of meat and really makes for great stews!
Tumblr media
This is a rutabaga, which originates from somewhere in northern Europe. We do not really know from where. All we know is, that it was a Swedish botanist who cultivates the form we still eat to this day in the 1620s. Which is why it is also called the "Swedish turnip". It does taste like a more bitter carrot, but makes really good addition to stews or can be served stamped.
Tumblr media
This is the Chinese Artichoke and another root vegetable, that as the name suggest originates from China. It was cultivates in China in the late medieval period and has later made its way to Europe, especially France. It has a really sweet and nutty taste and can be eaten raw or in salads. Though there are dishes mashing the vegetable, too.
Tumblr media
These are tigernuts, a vegetable that has been around forever. It originates in southern Europe, southern Asia and northern Africa. It is a dried fruit, with a sweet and earthy taste and it is known a lot in Spanish cuisine, but also in the cuisine of southern Asia.
Tumblr media
Yacon is a root vegetable that originates with Peru, where it is still eaten, while the rest of the world mostly forgot about it. Well, except Japan, where it is currently getting more and more popular. It is a vegetable, but it has a very fruity taste.
I could now go on and name more vegetables from all around the world that were once grown and fed people, but got forgotten more and more in favor of the very limited diet made up of potatoes, corn, potatoes, peppers, cucumber, onion and tomatoes, that is basically what you will get to eat in most places.
And... Well, the thing about it is that... It is not really a good thing that we grow the same stuff everywhere. It is not good for us and it is not good for the environment. It is not good for those foods, either.
I really wish people would try and eat more of the stuff that originates with their region. And that they would eat the not-so-perfect looking foods as well. Because it is gonna be more sustainable in the end.

Is This Jealousy I'm Feeling?
Dr. Keh X Player fanfiction. I posted it on Aooo too. Enjoy :)
After a long day at your shop, you harvest the 300 artichokes Keh told you to grow (why the heck did he need so many anyway??) and drive over to Keh’s shop. As soon as you walk in with them in a grocery tote, he approaches you, smiling that punchable smile you hate so much….
“I see you’ve been harvesting a lot of artichokes. I’m impressed, I had such low expectations for you.”
As he takes the tote from you, you mumble something under your breath. “I’m impressed your ego allowed you to have any expectations for me at all…”
“What was that, Ovenist?”
You straighten yourself up and watch what you say next. He can easily not allow you to search the shop if you give him attitude, after all. “I said thanks for that and all….”
Keh raises an eyebrow at you, maintaining his Cheshire cat grin. “I’ll let you look around my shop, even though I still don’t want you here. But before you go wrecking it, do you have anything to show me or tell me?”
As he looks down at you into your eyes, you gulp. Why is he so….intimidating? “Nope, I’m good.”
As he goes back behind the counter to look at his store’s final sales of the day on his tablet, you take a look around his shop, your pen writing down what you see in your investigation. As you look around, you feel so inspired looking at his futuristic décor and technology, and you see his menu board, with his grinning face hanging right next to it. Next you see his grinning face AGAIN holding a pizza right next to his NIT (National Institute of Toppings) degree.
You roll your eyes, and quietly scoff, with a grin. Just what someone wants to do when they eat a pizza here….stare at this man’s smug face!
You look even closer at the pictures again, and you sweat.
That well-taken care of…handsome…gor-
RING RING RING RING!
The sound of a ringing phone (almost a trendy, futuristic ringing) brings you out of your trance and Keh answers. “Keh-lifornia Pizza Kitchen; the home of the world’s most renowned pizza….ah, you’d like to place a catering order for tomorrow? Of course you do, I’m the only shop in town that can properly fulfill that kind of order….”
You multi-task between looking around his shop and listening to his conversation, and boy, Keh is as smug on the phone as he is in person. With your notebook, you look around. After you see the trophies on the wall and take note of them, you go behind where Keh is standing to try to reach up to pull a rope, but have trouble. It appears to be too high up, and you jump up, groaning. As Keh continues to chat with the potential customer on the phone, he notices you struggling.
“Hold on one moment…” He puts the phone on hold, and, with his 6’3 height, easily pulls the rope up and showcases what’s behind the curtain. He grins down at you. “You remind me of a cat trying to reach into a tree. Quickly look around, Ovenist. I need to lock the shop up very soon.”
As he returns to the phone call, you roll your eyes and look around, taking note of what you see. Special sauces in test tube bottles, fancy cooking tools imported from Italy, and some sort of group of papers (you put these in your backpack to analyze later, as they may be important for the case and cannot be read quickly). You look around for more things when some fancy envelope on top of the oven catches your eye.
What’s with that fancy envelope? Who is he writing to?
You didn’t dare ask for help again, even though it sounded like Keh was off the phone now. You jumped up really high to grab the letter and look at the front.
“To Michael…from Angelica..”
You drop your jaw, as well as the letter. You grip your notebook tight.
Angelica Bechamel?? What is he doing writing to HER??
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Footsteps approach you, and soon, Dr. Keh walks by with the artichokes he was bringing to the kitchen. He sees your jaw open before you quickly close it.
“What’s with you? You look as though you’ve come to the realization that you’ll never have a pizza parlor as magnificently sumptuous as mine.”
You shrug. “Nothing’s wrong, I’m almost finished searching!”
He looks at the ground….seeing the letter. “Ah, I see you’ve found my letter from Angelica.”
You put your notebook down and cross your arms. He’s just coming right out with it! “Yeah, I did. It all makes sense now…”
He looks at you, curiosity in his eyes. “Oh, does it now?”
You nod, animatedly. There are butterflies in your stomach now, but it’s not like you can escape. You stutter out your next words with anxiety. “Yep, I totally knew you two were going out. You guys are SUCH a perfect match, aren’t you? That Pizzagram hashtag was so accurate.”
His curiosity in his eyes turns into wide eyes for a few seconds, then he chuckles loudly. “Is that what this is about? You think I’m in love with my former rival??”
“Well yeah! Who writes letters to each other these days unless you guys are star-crossed lovers? And that envelope must’ve cost as much as a week’s worth of rent in the city!”
Keh puts his hands on his hips. “I see. That’s your naïve assumption, is it? That only lovers write letter to each other, hmm? And pray tell, Ovenist, did you even look inside the letter? Or are you simply judging the letter by it’s envelope?”
You knew you didn’t read it, but….you feel like you didn’t need to since you pretty much saw everything. Who writes a letter to someone that closed their family business down?? ‘Hey Dr. Keh, thanks for closing my business. You really ARE the Master Ovenist! Talk soon! Love, Angelica’
“I…no, why would I read it?”
“Because then you would’ve seen that inside the letter were.business matters being discussed. Much to your chagrin, people tend to still compose letters to each other in modern times as emails are not very….confidential, if you will. And I am a much sought-after man after all, this tiring investigation aside….”
You look up at him in confusion. “Business matters?”
Keh grins down at you. “Nothing for a current rival to be concerned with….at least for right now anyway….let’s just say you should enjoy your little gravy train while you still can…”
You look down and sigh, with yet another worry in your head for the future. “Well fine….forget I said anything..gotta go!”
As you try to leave, Keh stops you.
“Where are you going so fast? Now I have a question for you…”
You look up at him in fear. Perhaps this is where he reveals himself to be that handsome villain from the movies that will tell you that you know too much, and that you must be…disposed of somehow…
”….w-what?”
“Why were you so upset to find a letter from Angelica of all people? I write to colleagues all the time, even those I went to NIT with….you seem very upset I am writing to her specifically….”
You blush, swallowing. “I-I don’t know, I-I just don’t like her, and just think that she’s a horrible person, and…”
“And I’m not? Is that what you were going to say, Ovenist?”
He’s caught you. The man has the highest degree you can get at any university, so he’s nowhere near stupid! Now you’re in trouble….
“No, not that, I didn’t say that! I-“
He smiles again, but this time….it’s almost a smile that….isn’t punchable this time? Instead, it almost looked….delighted?
“I can’t believe it, Ovenist….you’re JEALOUS, aren’t you?”
The blush on your face is even more red now, with red anger in your eyes added on. “No way! Why would I be jealous of you? Are you insane?”
He crosses his arms and grins. “Hmmph. Well you can’t be jealous of my pizza making skills, since you think your mediocre pizza is so much better for some reason. You’re still delusional as of this point. Perhaps….it’s something else….”
You start to shyly rub the back of your neck.
 “Ovenist….you’re attracted to me in some way, aren’t you?”
With sweat dripping off your forehead, you grab your notebook and run out of Keh’s shop and drive away. You ran out at super fast speed, that you don’t even realize that Keh has chased you outside, looking on as you drive away in the pouring rain…
You also don’t realize….he’s holding your pen you left behind….
It's our anniversary!!! We have been married for an entire year! That's crazy!!! I am so happy. And I love my James so much.
And today was great. It was so much fun celebrating together. And we had a busy day.
I didn't sleep amazing. My sinuses are still really bothersome. But it was fine. I mostly was able to sleep and that was good. But for like an hour at like 3am I was up suffering. But with the fan and some water I was able to sleep until 9.
When I woke up I pretty quickly got washed and dressed. I wore my wedding earrings and I felt so pretty. Me and James told each other happy anniversary!! And then I squirreled away in my studio to write James a note. But then just as I was starting to write James came in and said that we had to leave right now immediately. Because they had misread the train schedule. And if we did not leave right then we would have to wait until 11. So we ran out of the house. Jackets and umbrellas. And we drove to West Baltimore
We left at 922. The train was at 937. We arrived at 931. It was raining and we had to park so far away and then when we got over there we realized we had to go under the overpass and up the stairs. I don't run!! I can't breathe right!! But we ran! And James stopped at the ticket machines while I ran ahead. And James, with their log legs, caught up to me. And we were on the platform at 936.
Of course the train did not come until 941. But that is okay! I was mostly recovered and had stopped hyperventilating. I did feel really shaky but I knew we would be sitting down soon and I would be okay.
The ride to DC was nice. I had brought my earbuds but they had sadly not charged in their chase. So instead I just enjoyed overhearing the just buckwild conversations the people around us were having. Everyone knows each other and people on scoffers getting hit by cars? Just wild behavior. But it was a nice ride. Just enjoying James's company.
We arrive at union station at 1030. I was low on energy and looking forward to brunch. We decided we would go to founding farmers. Which is where we ate on our minimoon last year. It was not the same location but that's alright. And it ended up being the best choice.
We did not know but they have a weekend brunch buffet!! It is a little expensive but it was awesome. I love buffets. And I love breakfast foods. So this was great.
After we sat down James ran to the bathroom and I waited for them to come back before we went to the buffet together. I got eggs and potatoes and beignets and fruits. I was having the best time.
We had a very nice waitress and a nice waiter who came through a few times. After we finished our breakfast plates I decided I need to try some of the lunch foods. So I got artichoke dip and bread and chips and guac and Mac and cheese. It was great. I was having a great time.
We finished up eating a tiny cheese cake. And I went to find some brownies and cookies to wrap in napkins and save for later.
I got a little frustrated when we were done eating and our waitress went missing for 15 minutes. I asked James to go find her so we could head out. And then we were off.
We walked to the national portrait gallery. And it was great. I loved seeing all the art. Specifically the art of indigenous people. But I am going to be honest I was struggle a bit. For one there were entirely to many people. It was because it was raining and a Saturday but man it was loud and I was going through it. I also was weirdly dizzy and winded. Like I felt super dizzy and wasn't doing great. I had to keep sitting and taking a break.
But I did have fun. I enjoyed hearing James talk about art. And I enjoyed their company greatly. Even if they made me go up stairs. But I really enjoyed the art. The Indigenous art was wonderful and I learned a lot about a lot of different people.
We would go to the exhibit about about sports champions which James seemed to love. I liked that the pieces were all so different. And then we headed to the contemporary wing which I thought was great. I was incredibly dizzy though and I was mad at myself for feeling so tired. I would sit and observe. Watched a video. Really tried to be present. We would wander away from each other a few times but mostly we were together. I got to earn that James loves the artist Alma Thomas, who I had taught a class about with my students at BAS a few weeks ago. It was fun learning something new about my husband.
We finished up at the portrait gallery and headed towards the national gallery. They aren't far from each other. We had done that gallery last time but they had another indigenous exhibit James wanted to see. We had seen the Many West show at the portrait gallery, so now onto the next one.
We did get lost at the museum though. It's huge. Firstly we went And then we had to get checked my security because my bag went off. And it turned out it was my spin pins. And security guard woman had never seen them before and was like what are these and I had to explain what they were but I was a little frazzled and she was like oh that's very cool. And then waved us through. But then it turned out we were on the exact opposite side and in the wrong building so we had to walk very far away.
But in the mean time we looked at the art as we walked. And eventually found an information desk that was able to point us in the correct direction. And w we got to go through the beautiful light up tunnel and see the water feature I like so much. And then we found the gallery.
I really enjoyed this one. But again I was dizzy tired so I ended up sitting and looking through the gallery book. And James apparently lost track of me and texted me in a panic but would find me before I even saw the text. I felt bad that they thought I left them! I was literally sitting on a bench in the center of the room. But they found me and we decided we had musuemed out. And it was time to go. And if we left right then we could make the 435 train home.
We had to backtrack to the original other side of the building to get our coats and umbrellas. And once we did that we walked the 3/4 of a mile to union station. Which was tough on me but I held it together. My legs and feet were a that fine, it was mostly my breathing and head.
I requested that we get a piece of pizza and a soda at the train station before we left. And I swear I was so frustrated that as soon as I ate that pizza and drank that soda I felt 1000% better. I think I had just not had any caffeine and was cloudy because of it and I was very frustrated that I did not think of that all day. I just assumed my brain and body were broken. But the soda fixed me and I was doing a lot better.
We waited for the train. And at 415 they called for boarding. They would not leave until the scheduled 435. So I was very angry when a guy pushed me to get ahead of me in the group is us walking to the train. I was like. No I won't let you push me into a trash can to get last me we are literally all going to the same train. I hope he felt really stupid when we got to the train and just sat there for 20 minutes.
It was a nice ride back. I broke out those brownies and cookies for a train snack. And my headphones has charged so I listened to tiktoks while James sent the photos of the sports art to their group chat. It was a good ride with nice views. Everything was foggy and grey. We didn't get to see the eclipse but that's alright. I still enjoyed this fall day.
We would get back to West Baltimore. And we were happy to see our car was safe. And then it was time to go home.
When we got back to our neighborhood I asked to take picture outside since we didn't get to in DC. Mostly because it was raining and entirely to busy and crowded. But I love the pictures we got and I felt so happy.
We got inside and I finished writing my note to James. And then it was present time!
James got me an adorable beer we have named Louie. And some beautiful jewelry. A piece of landscape jasper (something I have loved for a long while and so excited to own) that is both a pin and a pendant. They also got me a new gold heart carabineer, this one with little stars on it. And they got me the Barbie necklace earrings. Meaning the style of necklace she wore in the movie except they are earrings. And I love them and I love my husband.
They had made a linoleum print that was so sweet. But the best thing they made me is a recut of our wedding video. With our first dance song on top and our friends and family members talking over it and I was so close to crying it's so perfect. It's so much better then what it originally was. The original cut upset me so bad and this is perfect. I love my husband so much for organizing this for me and it means the world to me.
After we exchanged gifts I would take a bath. And Sweetp would keep biting James because they wanted food and attention. James would make me vegan shrimps which were great. And then we would get in bed to watch a show. Something we almost never do so I'm enjoying it greatly. I love my husband and I am so lucky.
As we finish this first year I just feel so lucky. I have found someone so perfect in so many ways but also someone I can watch grow and change with. I feel lucky for everyday and I hope we get many many more years.
Until next time everyone. Goodnight!
National Artichoke Day
Green and spiky, a culinary delight with tender hearts concealed, waiting to be savored, offering a taste of earthy goodness.
Have fun and be healthy on this day that celebrates this delicious vegetable that is chock full of nutrients and health benefits. It’s time for National Artichoke Day!
Classified as a vegetable, an artichoke is actually the flower bud of a thistle that has yet to grow to maturity. Grown in warm climates, in places such as California, France, and Spain, artichokes are popular in European dishes, as well as in the United States. And for those who have experienced them when prepared well, artichokes can bring a great deal of joy and flavor to a variety of dishes. Plus, they’re good for you too!
History of National Artichoke Day
It is believed that artichokes were first harvested by those living in the Middle East, the plant is likely native to the Mediterranean. In fact, some experts surmise that artichokes are one of the world’s oldest foods!
In the 1400s, artichokes became popular in Tuscany, specifically in Florence, Italy. From there, their popularity spread throughout Europe and eventually to the US, in the 1800s. They finally made it to California via Italian immigrants in the early 1900s and they became a huge hit. Today, California grows almost all of the artichokes produced in the United States.
How to Celebrate National Artichoke Day
Have a blast celebrating National Artichoke Day with some fun events and activities. Implement some of your own delightful ideas or try out some of these:
Eat Artichokes, Of Course
The most obvious and best way to enjoy National Artichoke Day is by cooking some up and eating them. Those who cook them all the time can have some fun getting creative with recipes for artichokes with a wide variety of opportunities for preparing them: baked, grilled, steamed, boiled, roasted, or even sauteed. Season with salt, pepper, lemon juice, butter and so many other options!
Fun Facts About Artichokes
Learn some delightful fun facts and bits of trivia about artichokes in honor of National Artichoke Day. Then share them with friends, family, coworkers and more! Get started with some of these:
Artichokes are technically a member of the sunflower family.
Artichoke plants don’t last long. Each plant only produces artichokes for 5-10 years.
Artichoke plants are fairly large in size. They grow to be around 6 feet wide and approximately 3-4 feet tall.
Marilyn Monroe, iconic American Actress, held the title of the inaugural “Artichoke Queen” in Castroville, California in 1948, when she was 22 years old.
Plan to Attend the Artichoke Festival
Though the festival takes place later in the year, National Artichoke Day would be a great time to make plans to attend. Taking place each year in Castroville, California, the Artichoke Festival usually falls on the first or second weekend in June. Attendees can enjoy festivities such as a charity golf tournament, children’s games and activities, live music performances, three-dimensional AgroArt competitions, dancing performances and so much more to enjoy. And everything is creatively based on the all-important theme of artichokes!
Today (6/17) is National Eat Your Vegetables Day! What’s your fav vegetable to eat?
I don't know, who likes to eat vegetables? *pauses* Actually, I remember Jerusalem artichokes being, like, real popular at parties back in my day, not so much anymore- I wonder what's up with that.
CANCER:
Cancer is such a staggering epidemic, the sheer number of people affected by the disease is heart-breaking. Cancer is killing over 11 million people per year, approximately 30,000 people die every day from cancer. It is MASS GENOCIDE!
Christ’s promise:
The River of Life
Rev 22:1 And he shewed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
Rev 22:2 In the midst of the street thereof, and on both sides of the river, was the tree of life, bearing twelve fruits, yielding its fruits every month: the leaves of the tree for the healing of the nations.
The Clergy of the Christ Lord RayEl, will be issuing the Leaves of healing to those whom are worthy of His New Kingdom.
We won’t go into the numerous causes of the cancer epidemic, but we will provide some help in the meantime:
DRY FAST - from three to four days, this will kick start your body into the cleansing and self-healing process.
Stop feeding the cancer - no refined sugars. Supermarket pre-packed foods, tinned foods and fast foods are usually full of preservatives and refined sugars, cancer loves these.
Eat and drink real food - natural and organic. Fresh fruits and vegetables from farms that do not use chemicals. Limit your meat intake, include fresh fish in your diet. Avoid manufactured or processed meats.
Exercise daily - release natural human growth hormones. Join a gymnasium, water aerobics class, ride a bicycle, walk. Get off your lounge chair and start living. Cancer hates HGH. Massage and Bowen therapy could help in detoxifying your body.
Detoxify your environment - remove other triggers. Remove harsh chemical cleaners, poisons and sprays from your home, use natural alternatives, especially for personal hygiene items.
Power of positive thinking - break the negativity cycle. You can beat this cancer. Seek a mentor - talk to others who have beaten cancer. Enjoy life and have a laugh, release your natural endorphins. Prayer is powerful, seek the Heavenly Father, be grateful.
Avoid unnecessary vaccinations, antibiotics - immune ruiners, try natural immune boosters.
Skin Cancers: The famous Australian long distance runner, Cliff Young, used the milk/sap from common 'chick/radium weed' to successfully treat his skin cancers; pharmaceutical companies have now marketed this in a topical cream.
Top 12 Foods and Drinks for Cancer Prevention:
In terms of the relationship between diet and cancer, this leads us to lists of what not to eat (fast foods, sigh), as well as the other side of the coin: What we should eat and drink (red wine, yay!).
Consider the importance of eating specific foods and drinks for cancer protection. Here’s what we suggest:
1. Cruciferous vegetables: Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, bok choy and kale. These score high for containing many anti-cancer substances, such as isothiocyanates.
2. Artichokes: for very high levels of salvestrols.
3. Dark greens: such as spinach and romaine lettuce, for their fibre, folate and a wide range of cancer-fighting carotenoids. Other dark coloured veggies, too, such as beets and red cabbage.
4. Grapes and red wine: especially for the resveratrol.
5. Legumes: beans, peas and lentils, for the saponins, protease inhibitors and more.
6. Seeds: Flaxseed, especially if you grind it yourself and consume when fresh, for the essential fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid, lignans and other “good fats.”
7. Berries: particularly blueberries, for the ellagic acid and anthocyanosides. The Blushwood Berry found in North Queensland was discovered to kill cancerous tumours within days, a pharmaceutical company quickly took control of this, you will need to research further on how to get this berry for treatment.
8. Nuts: Vitamin B17 intake – apricot kernels, macadamia nuts, proven by many users to effectively fight cancers in this holistic approach.
9. Alliums: Garlic, onions, scallions, leeks and chives, for many anti-cancer substances including allicin.
10. Drinks: Green tea for its anti-cancer catechins, a potent antioxidant. Alkaline drinks – Water with Aloe Vera juice and Colloidal Silver.
Avoid alcohol, soft drinks and so called sports drinks. Reduce your sugar intake in tea and coffee, raw sugar is not as bad as white, natural honey is the better option.
11. Tomatoes: for the famous flavenoid lycopene.
12. Hash Oil: and Hemp Seed Oil is highly recommended and showing great results with cancers. Do further research on these products as Hash oil may contain traces of THC but is now legal in many states, Hemp seed oil does not contain traces of THC but is not as effective as Hash oil.
Chemo and radiation treatments can destroy the cancerous growths but reoccurrence is common as the cause of cancer is not being dealt with. Chemo, radiation and surgery are the only options as far as the medical board goes but at what cost. Treatment often poisons the patients and weakens their immune system.
the supposed last days in england
16 july 2014
We do not have breakfast together today. You cycled to Will's to prepare for the busking festival in Edinburgh. I wanted to sleep a bit more but after replying to my friend's email about meeting up in Denmark, I was a quite awake. Felt a bit lonely, I opened Youtube watching videos about health and beauty care by a Canadian girl. Tried to check how much internet data I have left out of the 100MB but the password for the app did not work. Felt bad about lying in bed using the internet, though it is less than one hour. When I could hear some sounds from the birds, I decided to wake up. I peed, cleaned my tongue and washed my throat with warm salt water. Rinsed the kettle and put some cold water in the boil. We run out of lemon so I have artichoke herbal tea from Vietnam. Washed a pure light green granny smith's apple, put the red blanket over the table outside, I was happy to enjoy another breakfast outdoor since we moved here, in the sun, looking up to the sky.
Looking straight now is the fence that divides our small rented stoned garden and the big grass garden of the land-lord that we go to the end most of the time to stay on the wooden floor next to the little stream, my favourite plum tree, few other trees and Andrew's cabin. You said it was a very girl, which you actually mean 'woman', thing of Magaret to ask her husband to put up the fence that was not there. Magaret happens to be a white woman that can make me put her in the category of those irritated British women. One day she was on the phone with someone and all I could hear was a lot of 'She' - she was talking about some girl or woman; and a lot of 'She was ridiculous'. Though she did have a few words with her for a few times and did smile and ask me about our recent holiday in Budapest, all could be just 'diplomatic'. I have learned myself not to be close with housemates because it's easier like that so I should understand why she behaves so. Women are more possessive of their men because historically since there was no contraception, women could get pregnant when being with a guy so they have to be careful and cannot just play around with different girls like guys.
It's just a 'women' thing. They might have a period, they might have been wanted by any guy. You said guys go get the girls so all the girls have to try to attract guys, that's why girls are more jealous to each other.
I have learned myself that when a white person is not nice to someone, it's not always 'racism', it's more 'discrimination' most of the time that can happen not just between races but between the same race from different places in one country. The people from the capital take for granted that their accent is standard; the rest is 'countryside', 'southern', or 'northern' for the case of the U.K.
When I think about almost four years that I have lived in England, I think about the people I have encountered, the people who have made me smile, laugh, cry, and think.
The formal manager of the scholarship office of the university. Big size middle age English man, some white hair, big belly.
When I met him in Vietnam before applying for the scholarship for the second time, he was friendly, helpful, understanding with the situation in Vietnam, my family situation. He told me he helped an Indian girl from a slum to study in England. I told him Westminster had been ranked first in the UK for giving our scholarship to international student. He smiled quite proudly 'It's good to be first in something'. He ordered the second coffee when I asked him about his degree in Archaeology before. Looking at my CV, he asked me why I do not study Film.
He seems like a different man in England. When people live in their own country, they can be nationalist. In the first meeting with all the international scholarship students, after telling everyone about the bad stereotypes of each nationality that has scholarship students - now I can only remember he said Indians, don't be on the phone all the time. He then said 'York is the most English town in England' then smile proudly, 'Guess where I am from'. At the end of his speech when he said, 'Be careful with me. I'm the man with the money and power.' is when my tears rolled down and I could not stop it. I looked around, some African faces, some Indians, some Asians - all seem too nervous and worried to smile or laugh at his supposedly joke. No one applauded either.
I feel a bit lost but a new life is waiting ahead. It is not as if I am suffering from cancer and dying, even if there might be a next life, who knows how it would be. In my case now, I know it would taste like heaven on earth when I have several kinds of Vietnamese food a day, long time no see friends and family and the weather would warm me up after four years of wind and cold, come and go sun in England.
The last 39 days with London, England and BB. More than a month of traveling in between will make it easier. I have not felt good from yesterday since you told me you are going to teach that woman today. It just sounds like a prostitute getting client from the street for what happened. You will be very mad if I tell you this comparison. In Vietnamese culture, being a musician or a typical performing 'artist' could be considered as one kind of 'prostitute' who pleases different people. That is why my mum would not want me to go into singing, learning music instrument or any other kind of art, besides the fact that we could not afford it. I was surprised to hear from the mixed Dutch and French woman that her Dutch father did not want her to pursue ballet because for him, it is like dancing naked in front of lots of people.
