Nash-Healey Le Mans Coupe, 1954, by Pininfarina. The joint venture between Nash-Kelvinator and British car maker Donald Healey had begun in 1951 with Pininfarina becoming involved in 1952. The intention was to create a halo car that would add prestige to the Nash brand. But by 1954 Nash-Kelvinator had become a division of American Motors Corporation and, with just 90 cars sold that year, the model was abandoned

It was either Nash-Kelvinator or American Motors after the merge with Hudson, they were the first to make air conditioning standard on all models. I always thought it was cool that they got Kelvinator to do it, who else would be better than a refrigerator company?

Nash Healey - Legendary figures and Grand ambitions
The Nash-Healey was born out of a chance meeting on an ocean liner and went on to become a rare gem. The story involves legendary figures, grand ambitions, and a unique blend of American and British engineering.
George Mason, the president of Nash-Kelvinator, and innovative British sports car maker Donald Healey had an incredible collaboration sparked by a chance meeting on the ocean liner Queen Elizabeth. Both men were photography buffs, which led to them striking up a conversation and discovering they both ran car companies. By the time they reached shore, they had agreed to develop a groundbreaking sports car combining American power with British design.
Letters, sketches, and ideas were exchanged over the next few months. A vehicle that would capture the elegance of British craftsmanship while boasting the brawn of an American engine was envisioned by them.
The creation of the Nash-Healey, a car that would later become a symbol of international ingenuity and collaboration, culminated in their transatlantic partnership.
British engineer Donald Healey designed the car, and a Nash Ambassador engine powered it. A perfect blend of American innovation and British craftsmanship was embodied in it.
Mason wanted to liven up Nash's image, while Healey was keen on using Cadillac's revolutionary new V-8 engines. When the plan fell through, the robust Nash Ambassador six-cylinder engine was offered by Mason. Equipped with dual carburetors and a hot camshaft, this engine provided an impressive 125 hp.

Celebrate 70 Years of AMC with 10 of Our Favorite Cars - Brandan Gillogly @Hagerty
AMC was founded on May 1, 1954, when Hudson Motor Car Company and Nash-Kelvinator Corporation merged to better compete and survive against the Big Three. The plan worked, to an extent: AMC outlived Studebaker, Packard, and Kaiser-Jeep, the latter of which survived the longest, making it to 1970 before it was acquired by AMC. In 1987 AMC itself was purchased by Chrysler, and today only Jeep…
