Beads of sweat broke out on Kelvin’s forehead as bright, burning lights switched on overhead.

“We’re rollin’,” Levi called out, his voice still somehow soft while slightly louder than normal, “and…action!”

Alright, get it together, Gemstone. It’s just acting. It doesn’t mean anything. You can do—

“I don’t wanna hide you.”

Kelvin forced himself to look up as Keefe spoke, his voice earnest even as his eyes darted from him and back down to the page.

“I never wanna…h-hide how I feel about you. Not again.”

Kelvin’s heart ricocheted against his ribcage at the ache laced in Keefe’s tone.

Shit. He really is a good actor.

…I can be too.

Taking in a deep breath he stared down at the words, letting his mind go blank.

“I–I don’t want to either, baby.”

He dropped to his knees, reaching out and resting his palms on Keefe’s thighs, placing the script face-up across his lap.

Their eyes met.

Kelvin swallowed the lump in his throat.

“I…I love you too much to ever go back to that.”

With another shaky breath, he quickly glanced back down to the script, his hands clenching slightly on Keefe’s thighs.

Keefe jerked a little at the contact but didn’t break character, just kept staring at him as if he had hung the moon and stars. Kelvin shoved down the surge of warmth spreading through him at that fond gaze aimed his way and leaned up, shortening the space between them until half an inch remained. And waited. Holding his breath.

After what felt like an eternity, Keefe’s eyes fluttered shut and he closed the tiny gap with his lips.

Mapping the path of climate change

Since 1880, the Earth’s temperature has risen by 1.9 degrees Fahrenheit and is predicted to continue rising, according to the NASA Global Climate Change website. Scientists are actively seeking to understand this change and its effect on Earth’s ecosystems and residents.

In Chaos, scientists Yayun Zheng, Fang Yang, Jinqiao Duan, Xu Sun, Ling Fu and Jürgen Kurths present detailed research on climate change shifts, describing the mechanisms behind abrupt transitions in global weather. Predicting a major transition, such as climate change, is extremely difficult, but the probabilistic framework developed by the authors is the first step in identifying the path between a shift in two environmental states.

The researchers develop a climate change model based on a probabilistic framework to explore the maximum likelihood climate change for an energy balance system under the influence of greenhouse effect and Lévy fluctuations. These fluctuations, which can present themselves as volcanic eruptions or huge solar outbreaks, for example, are suggested to be one factor that can trigger an abrupt climatic transition.

Some results of these noise fluctuations are the rapid climate changes that occurred 25 times during the last glacial period, a series of pauses in geophysical turbulence, and protein production in gene regulation, which occurs in bursts.

“Although the climate changes may not easily be accurately predicted, we offer insights about the most likely trend in such changes for the surface temperature,” said Duan. “In the present paper, we have uncovered that the maximum likelihood path, under an enhanced greenhouse effect, is a step-like growth process when transferring from the current temperature state to the high temperature one.”

By understanding the step-like growth process of the greenhouse effect, the authors can map out the path that climate changes may take. The researchers found larger influences of noise fluctuations can result in abrupt shifts from a cold climate state to a warmer one.

“The maximum likelihood path will be expected to be an efficient research tool, in order to better understand the climate changes under the greenhouse effect combined with non-Gaussian fluctuations in the environment,” said Duan.

WIERINGERMEER – Wie vandaag de lokale eerste teams van de Wieringermeer wilde bezoeken kon in Middenmeer terecht alwaar Flevo de degens moest kruisen met Hugo Boys. Om de verrichtingen van DWOW te volgen kon je terecht in Egmond waar Egmondia de tegenstander was.

Flevo wist vlak voor rust het net te vinden. 1-0, na een scrimmage in het doelgebied. Bij de start van de tweede helft vielen de doelpunten kort op elkaar. Nadat het 2-2 was geworden (penalty Mats Vrenegoor) zette Flevo goed aan. JO19 speler Levi Mupiri gaf een panklare voorzet op Sidney die fraai raak kopte. 4-2 werd het door een ander talent uit de JO19, Sonny Blok. Het werd nog even spannend toen Hugo Boys er 4-3 van maakte maar Flevo hield stand. Toen na de wedstrijd bleek dat SEW had verloren van Alkmaarsche Boys bleek deze overwinning van de Middenmeerders goud waard. Als groepswinnaar gaat Flevo naar de knock-out fase, een prima prestatie voor dit jonge elftal.

DWOW kende een goede ouverture tegen Egmondia. Met de rust stond DWOW al voor met 1-4 door goals van Jordi Doets (2 x), Chris Kemmeren en Kelvin Zomerdijk.  In de tweede helft ging DWOW door waar het de eerste helft mee was begonnen, scoren. Na een steekpass van Bauke Brandsma wist Jordi Doets zijn derde van de dag te maken. De wedstrijd eindigde in 2-5. Een prima uitslag voor de blauw-witten. I just found this ask again, I'm so sorry

Who is a night owl: Kelvin, I can't imagine him without trying to pull all nighters to find something out, while Levi is more prone to drag the other out of bed to show something, but still.

Who is a morning person: I'd say Levi but I'm not entirely sure about it, seeing as the two are just people of the night mostly

Are they cuddlers: Yeah, when the need is there absolutely

Who is the big spoon and who is the little spoon: Depends, I can easily seen them switching

What is their favourite sleeping position: probably draped over each other, tangled mess of limbs or spooning

Who steals all the blankets: I can kinda see Levi doing this honestly, I have no good explanation for it

What they wear to bed: Shirts with pants that depend on the weather, winter it would be long and in the summer it will be short.

Who likes seeing the other wearing their t-shirt: That's a though one, I can kinda seem them just sharing clothing tbh. So both would be the answer then.

Who falls asleep mid-conversation: Kelvin, even though he pulls all nighters on the daily, I can not see him staying awake once he is extremely sleep and already comfortable in bed with Levi.

Who wakes up in the middle of the night with nightmares: I guess Levi but Im not too sure about that one.

Who accidentally punched the other in their sleep: Both, which leads to the other waking up in confusion

Who can’t keep their hands to themself: In the beginning it was mainly Levi, but once Kelvin grew completely comfortable neither could really keep them to themselves

Kelvin x Keefe Fic - Sneak Peek

Kelvin let out a shaky breath and glanced down at the script.

Zachariah leans in and kisses Xavier on the mouth.

“And then they kiss,” Keefe hurriedly skipped ahead, ready to move on to his next line.

“We could.”

The words shot from Kelvin’s mouth with no input from his brain.

His heart hammered against his ribcage as slowly, Keefe looked up from his script, eyebrows furrowed.

“...what?”

What on God’s green Earth are you doing?! Move on. Go to the next line, Gemstone! Skip—

“We could kiss. I mean, for the sake of the movie. For Levi and his writer friend to see their vision and all.”

Keefe stared at him.

Kelvin felt an itch crawl under his skin as he stood his ground, waiting with bated breath.

Sgr A* à l'origine des bulles de Fermi il y a 6 millions d'années

En août 2016, je vous racontais la découverte de l'activité passée de Sgr A*, le trou noir supermassif de notre galaxie qui aurait été actif il y a 6 millions d'années. Une nouvelle étude vient aujourd'hui confirmer cette découverte par une méthode très différente et montre que les "bulles de Fermi" s'étendant de part et d'autre du disque galactique ne sont autres que les résidus des jets de matière du trou noir.

Ce n'est plus cette fois-ci en observant le gaz chaud galactique en rayons X mais en observant des sources lointaines dans l'ultraviolet, que les astrophysiciens ont pu caractériser l'une des deux bulles de Fermi, ces vastes régions qui ont été détectées pour la première fois en 2010 par leur émission gamma avec le télescope Fermi. Dans cette étude, Rongmon Bordoloi (MIT) et ses collaborateurs ont utilisé le télescope Hubble et son instrument COS (Cosmic Origins Spectrograph) pour observer la lumière de 47 quasars lointains, dont la lumière traverse la bulle Nord

La bulle ayant un mouvement supposé d'expansion, ses bordures composées de gaz plus froid (environ 10 000 K, contre 10 millions de kelvins à l'intérieur) vont donc absorber la lumière des quasars différemment selon qu'il s'agit du bord le plus proche de nous (qui doit se rapprocher) ou le bord opposé de la bulle (qui doit s'éloigner). En mesurant le décalage spectral des raies d'absorption dans les spectres des quasars judicieusement sélectionnés, il est donc possible de déterminer la vitesse d'expansion de la bulle tout entière.

Les bulles de gaz chaud s'étendent jusque 23 000 années-lumière au-dessus et en-dessous du plan galactique, l'équivalent de la distance qui sépare la Soleil de Sgr A*. Les astrophysiciens peuvent même estimer la masse de gaz contenue dans ces bulles de Fermi : au moins 2 millions de masses solaires. Quant à leur vitesse d'expansion mesurée par les décalages spectraux des quasars, celle-ci est de l'ordre de 900 km/s (soit 0,3% de la vitesse de la lumière).

Connaissant la vitesse d'expansion et la taille actuelle des bulles de Fermi, les astronomes remontent ensuite à la date d'origine de l'événement très énergétique en cause. Bordoloi et ses collègues trouvent une date similaire à celle qu'avait trouvée l'équipe de Fabrizio Nicastro en 2016 : entre 6 et 9 millions d'années dans le passé.

Pour expliquer cette activité intense de Sgr A* il y a environ 6 millions d'années, les spécialistes évoquent l'accrétion d'un gros nuage de gaz par le trou noir, qui aurait produit alors des jets intenses de particules accélérées le long de son axe de rotation dans les deux directions, et qui produisent ensuite l'apparition de ces deux lobes de gaz échauffé qui s'étendent toujours aujourd'hui. 

En plus d'avoir pu cartographier la vitesse d'expansion des bulles de Fermi, les données obtenues avec Hubble fournissent également des indications sur la nature des atomes qui y sont présents, du silicium et du carbone notamment, ce qui donne de précieuses données aux astrophysiciens. Cette nouvelle estimation indépendante de la date de dernière activité de Sgr A* confirme que notre galaxie était un mini-quasar au moment où l'Humanité descendait de son arbre.

Levi is so intriguing and I agree with you, the risk of not being able to adopt is curious for a single het man and his being single while being so cute and kind is strange for a church that would be full of young women who just want to marry and have kids.

I have two Levi and K&K related ideas:

A) Keefe finally comes out to Kelvin and before he can declare his love, Kelvin simply hugs him and promises him to find his perfect partner. So he asks Levi for a date.

For more shenaningans: Levi doesn't understand why Keefe is doing here when Kelvin should be here and Keefe being very confused bc he thought Kelvin would be here and this was just a dramatic way to ask him.

B) Levi and Keefe are sort of friends, bc being a gay man in a church full of married het couples is easier together. Levi obv knows everything about k&k pining for each other so decides to take action and fake dates Keefe.

Bonus if even Keefe doesn't know what is happening, just that suddenly Levi is touching him more and being very sweet with him while Kelvin knows perfectly what is going on and he won't stand that Levi will steal his bff!

And about my help Kelvin with his virginity au, I have another little piece but it can also being alone: imagine Kelvin trying to woo Keefe (this is can be bc he really wants to date Keefe or because he is trying before doing it with his "real" person) and Keefe is just so oblivious it makes Kelvin furious! He tried to bring him to a new restaurant and Keefe was so uncomfortable and wanted to spend time alone in the house (this bc maybe they have weekly friend date like mac and Dennis in it's always sunny, so it is a normal thing for them, but usually they go to their usual restaurant, not a five stars one)! But when Kelvin tried to pull his move while watching a movie in the home theatre Keefe thought he was cold and went to fetch a blanket.

At his wits end, he is found by Keefe while he thought to be alone pouting and he explodes a little bc he really wants to successfully asks Keefe out but maybe he is not effective or Keefe noticed and ignored him bc he doesn't want the same.

Keefe, who didn't notice anything and would really love to go out with Kelvin, is very surprised to discover he is on his 45th date with the love of his life.

I am very happy that you are having fun writing dialogues!

I think it is very difficult to write following the show's writing bc it is very specific and a balance between grotesque and dramatic can be tough to achieve. I wish you the best of luck and I am very excited to read it, once your story will be ready!😍

Oh my GOD! Mac and Dennis! I knew there was a dynamic that Kelvin x Keefe loosely reminded me of!!!! (Obviously in a non-toxic way, of course, 'cause whoa, I love them and all but Macdennis are something else heh 😅) but you're totally right. Kelvin and Keefe (have the fandom come up with a ship name for them yet? Keevin? Kelfe? StoneChambers? Gembers? 🤣) would definitely have dinners and regular hang out spots and everything else a co-dependent more-than-friendship friendship would have. 100%. I love that idea and think it's more than likely canon at this point.

And yes, poor Keefe would have no idea if Kelvin was into him, I think. He strikes me as just never allowing himself to believe it's a possibility, poor guy.
