Top Tips for Using Nasal Spray Syringes
Nasal spray syringes are a popular and effective method for delivering medication directly to the nasal cavity. However, many people may not be using them to their full potential. In this blog post, we will provide expert tips on how to effectively use nasal spray syringes for maximum benefits.
The importance of using nasal spray syringes correctly
First things first, let’s talk about why it’s so important to use nasal spray syringes correctly. Proper technique ensures that you’re getting the most out of your nasal spray, allowing it to work its magic and provide you with the relief you need. Plus, using nasal spray incorrectly can lead to wasted product and potential side effects, so it’s definitely worth taking the time to get it right.
Understanding the proper technique for using nasal spray syringes
When it comes to using nasal spray syringes, technique is key. To start, make sure you’re holding the syringe upright and aiming it towards the back of your nose. Take a deep breath in, then exhale slowly as you press down on the plunger to administer the spray. Remember to breathe in gently through your nose to help the spray reach its target area.
Choosing the right nasal spray syringe for your needs
Not all nasal spray syringes are created equal, so it’s important to choose the right one for your needs. Whether you prefer a traditional pump spray or a more precise syringe, make sure to select a product that fits your preferences and lifestyle. If you’re unsure about which type of syringe to use, don’t hesitate to ask your healthcare provider for recommendations.

Tips for storing and cleaning nasal spray syringes
Proper storage and cleaning of your nasal spray syringes are essential for maintaining their effectiveness. Store your syringe in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. To clean your syringe, simply rinse it with warm water and allow it to air dry. Avoid using harsh chemicals or boiling water, as these can damage the syringe.
Common mistakes to avoid when using nasal spray syringes
There are a few common mistakes that many people make when using nasal spray syringes. One of the most common is tilting the head back too far, which can cause the spray to run down the back of the throat instead of reaching the nasal passages. Another mistake is using too much force when pressing down on the plunger, which can lead to discomfort or irritation. Be sure to read the instructions carefully and follow them closely to avoid these pitfalls.
How to properly administer nasal spray using a syringe
To properly administer nasal spray using a syringe, start by blowing your nose to clear any mucus. Then, hold the syringe upright and gently insert the tip into one nostril. Press down on the plunger while breathing in gently through your nose. Repeat the process for the other nostril. Remember to avoid sniffing or blowing your nose immediately after using the spray to allow it to work its magic.
Conclusion: Mastering the art of using nasal spray syringes for optimal effectiveness
By following these expert tips for using nasal spray syringes effectively, you’ll be well on your way to mastering the art of nasal spray administration. Remember to choose the right syringe for your needs, practice proper technique, and avoid common mistakes to ensure optimal effectiveness. With a little practice and patience, you’ll be breathing easy in no time.

Because I am On a Ball and it is Rolling, I want to make an additional love offering bc there are like 3 things in the x reader tags and my fellow Sportaskissers deserve more ( I see you, I love you, you are not weird or alone <;;3 ). I present to you:
Sportacus with a chronically suffering and/or disabled significant other
based on my reading of the character from just four episodes from season one, some offhanded comments from the cast, and a little projection on my part so shhhh -Sportacus will never think less of you for not having the strength/ not feeling well enough to exercise. Some days are just a no bones day and he totally gets it ( even if he rarely if ever experiences them himself, thanks elf genes > . > ) He will gently stretch you out if you've been lying in the same spot for too long though ( you wouldn't BELIEVE how quickly legs can cramp... but he does! ) or help you move to avoid bedsores if you need that. Part of what he loves about you is your perseverance in spite of the hand you've been dealt and helping the body he loves so much stay as healthy as possible is as good as any pilates session. You don't need to kill yourself with cardio to make him love you. -Tea, tea and more tea ( and maybe some soup ). Can't keep down your Sportscandy? Catch him boiling all kinds of herbs to settle your gut, keep you hydrated, and get *some* semblance of nutrition in there. Because it's gonna be unsweetened you'll be drinking a lot of white/decaf. Also the man will hunt down your favorite variety at all cost <3 -Do you take an inhaler? do you need to do it upside down to get the meds where they need to go? ( looking at you Sumatriptan nasal spray ), the man will personally lift you and hold you up on the ceiling hook so you can angle your head right for the delivery if you don't have the body strength to hold yourself there
-If you need to lie down somewhere dark and cold to make your pain go away, he'll make sure there's a room just for you. He will check in on you every so often to make sure you're doing all right though, just cause the crystal isn't beeping doesn't mean his favorite person doesn't need some kinda help and he wants to be the first to know when he can! -No standing? no problem! in at least one draft of the official backstory Sportacus built that bad boy himself so if your wheelchair using s/i lives with him or makes regular visits to the airship, he will build a lift in just for you. After all it's your home too!
- If you are having a bad mental health night, it genuinely does not matter whether it's 8:08 or 3 am. Though he may like his sleep, Sportacus will be THERE for you because he wants you to be safe and there is no other person he'd rather stay up for. He knows he can't make you stable or take your trauma away but if his company makes you feel even the slightest bit better it is all worthwhile to him. You two can nap together later <3 - Need a hand? If you need help remembering or administering your medication, your very own hero is to the rescue! No more pricking fingers or navigating stubborn syringes if you don't have the dexterity for it. Sportacus understands the importance of giving your body the tools it needs to help you be your best you. He'll help you keep track of meds, set reminders to take them, and help you with whatever you need to get them into your body!
Above all, regardless of what you feel like or what your body does or doesn't do Sportacus chose you for you, you are not a runner up, you're not a consolation prize, and there is not an ounce of pity in his body when he thinks of you. You are beautiful to him just the way you are, remember that.

How to treat a child's cold?
Colds are a common ailment in children, especially during the colder months. While they are usually not serious, managing the symptoms effectively can help your child feel better faster. The best child specialist in Kota offers these expert tips on how to treat a child's cold:
1. Keep Them Hydrated
Ensure your child drinks plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. Water, clear broths, and diluted fruit juices can help. For infants, continue breastfeeding or formula feeding as usual.
2. Use a Humidifier
Using a cool-mist humidifier in your child's room can help ease congestion and soothe irritated nasal passages. Make sure to clean the humidifier regularly to prevent mold and bacteria buildup.
3. Elevate the Head
Keeping your child's head elevated while they sleep can help reduce nasal congestion. For infants, elevate the head of the crib slightly, but ensure it is done safely.
4. Saline Nasal Drops
Saline nasal drops or sprays can help loosen mucus in a stuffy nose. They are safe for use in infants and children. Use a bulb syringe to gently suction out the mucus for younger children.
5. Ensure Rest
Encourage your child to get plenty of rest. Adequate sleep helps the body fight off infections and recover more quickly.
6. Offer Honey (for Children Over One Year)
For children over one year old, a spoonful of honey can help soothe a sore throat and reduce coughing. Do not give honey to infants under one year due to the risk of botulism.
7. Comforting Foods
Warm soups, broths, and teas can be comforting and help with hydration. Avoid giving spicy or acidic foods that might irritate the throat.
8. Over-the-Counter Medications
For children over six years old, certain over-the-counter medications may help alleviate symptoms. Always consult with the best child specialist in Kota before giving any medication to ensure it is safe and appropriate for your child's age and symptoms.
9. Practice Good Hygiene
Encourage your child to wash their hands frequently to prevent the spread of germs. Teach them to cover their mouth and nose with a tissue or elbow when they cough or sneeze.
10. Monitor Symptoms
Keep an eye on your child's symptoms. If the cold lasts more than ten days, if symptoms worsen, or if your child develops a high fever, difficulty breathing, or ear pain, seek medical advice promptly.

Baby care products | Managing Baby's First Cold
Managing Baby's First Cold
Ah, the first sniffles and sneezes of your little one – it's a rite of passage in the journey of parenthood. As a parent, seeing your baby under the weather can tug at your heartstrings and leave you feeling a little helpless. But fear not! Managing your baby's first cold is all about love, comfort, and a sprinkle of gentle care. Let's explore how you can navigate this common milestone in newborn baby care with warmth and compassion.
Understanding Baby's Cold
The first step in managing your baby's cold is understanding what it entails. Just like adults, babies can catch cold viruses from the environment or from contact with someone who's already sick. Their tiny immune systems are still developing, making them more susceptible to these pesky germs.
Symptoms of a cold in babies may include a runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, coughing, mild fever, and fussiness. While it can be distressing to see your little one uncomfortable, rest assured that most colds in babies are mild and tend to resolve on their own within a week or two.
Creating a Comforting Environment
When your baby is feeling under the weather, creating a comforting environment is key. Keep the air in their room moist with a cool-mist humidifier to help ease congestion and soothe their nasal passages. You can also elevate their mattress slightly to help with drainage and make breathing easier.
Offer plenty of cuddles and snuggles to provide reassurance and warmth during this time. Your loving presence can work wonders in comforting your baby and letting them know that everything will be alright. Remember, a parent's touch is often the best medicine for a little one feeling under the weather.
Encouraging Hydration and Rest
Just like adults, babies need plenty of fluids and rest to help their bodies fight off a cold. Whether you're breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, offer your baby frequent feedings to ensure they stay hydrated. If your baby is old enough to drink water, you can offer small sips throughout the day to keep them hydrated.
Encourage plenty of rest by maintaining a calm and soothing bedtime routine. Dim the lights, play soft music, and cuddle up with your little one as they drift off to sleep. Adequate rest not only helps your baby recover faster but also strengthens their immune system for future battles against cold viruses.
Providing Gentle Relief
When it comes to providing relief for your baby's cold symptoms, gentle remedies are often the most effective. Saline nasal drops or sprays can help loosen mucus and make it easier for your baby to breathe. Use a rubber bulb syringe to gently suction out any excess mucus from their nose, being careful not to insert it too deeply.
For older babies, a cozy warm bath can provide relief from congestion and help them relax. Adding a few drops of eucalyptus or lavender oil to the bathwater can create a soothing atmosphere and ease their discomfort.
Knowing When to Seek Help
While most colds in babies resolve on their own with home care, there are certain signs that may indicate a more serious illness requiring medical attention. If your baby is under three months old and has a fever of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher, or if they're showing signs of dehydration, such as decreased urine output or dry mouth, it's important to contact your pediatrician right away.
Similarly, if your baby's cold symptoms persist or worsen over time, or if you notice any signs of respiratory distress, such as rapid breathing or wheezing, seek medical advice promptly. Trust your instincts as a parent and don't hesitate to reach out for help if you're concerned about your baby's health and well-being.
Conclusion
Navigating your baby's first cold may seem daunting at first, but with love, care, and a little bit of know-how, you can help your little one feel better in no time. Creating a comforting environment, encouraging hydration and rest, and providing gentle relief are all important aspects of newborn baby care during a cold.
As you comfort and care for your little one, remember that you're not alone on this journey. Reach out to your pediatrician or trusted healthcare provider if you have any concerns or questions along the way. Together, we can weather the sniffles and soothe our babies with the warmth of our love and care.

Best Nasal Spray Syringe Selection Ultimate Guide
Choosing the right nasal spray syringe is crucial for effective and safe use of nasal spray. With so many different types of syringes available, it can be overwhelming to determine which one is the best fit for your needs. In this ultimate guide, we will break down the different types of nasal spray syringes, factors to consider when choosing one, key features to look for, proper usage and maintenance, as well as where to buy them.
Types of Nasal Spray Syringes
There are three main types of nasal spray syringes: bulb syringe, metered-dose syringe, and dropper syringe.

Factors to Consider when Choosing a Nasal Spray Syringe
When choosing a nasal spray syringe, there are several important factors to consider.
Size and shape of the syringe: The size and shape of the syringe can impact how easy it is to use and how comfortable it is to hold. Look for a syringe that fits comfortably in your hand and is easy to maneuver.
Measuring gradations: It’s important to have clear measuring gradations on the syringe so you can accurately measure out the correct dosage of medication. Make sure the markings are easy to read and accurate.
Material of the syringe: The material of the syringe can affect its durability and ease of cleaning. Look for a syringe made from high-quality materials that are easy to clean and sterilize.
Ease of use: Consider how easy the syringe is to use, especially if you will be using it frequently. Look for features like a smooth plunger action and an ergonomic design for comfortable use.
Sterilization process: It’s important to keep your nasal spray syringe clean and sterile to prevent contamination. Choose a syringe that is easy to sterilize, either by boiling or using disinfectant solutions.

Some syringes may only work with specific formulations, so be sure to check if the syringe you are considering can be used with the nasal spray solution prescribed by your healthcare provider.
Reusability and durability: It’s also worth considering whether the nasal spray syringe is reusable and durable. Opting for a reusable syringe can help reduce waste and save money in the long run. Additionally, choosing a durable syringe made from high-quality materials will ensure it lasts longer and can withstand regular use.
Travel-friendliness: If you plan on using your nasal spray while on-the-go, consider how travel-friendly the syringe is. Look for compact designs that are easy to pack and carry with you wherever you go. Some nasal spray syringes even come with protective cases or covers to keep them clean and secure during travel.
How to Properly Use a Nasal Spray Syringe
To effectively use a nasal spray syringe, start by reading the instructions provided with your particular syringe. Generally, you will need to insert the tip of the syringe into the nasal cavity and spray the solution while inhaling gently. Make sure to avoid tilting your head too far back to prevent the solution from entering your throat. Also, be mindful of avoiding contamination by not touching the tip of the syringe with your fingers or any other surfaces.
Cleaning and Maintenance of Nasal Spray Syringe
Proper cleaning and maintenance of your nasal spray syringe are crucial for hygiene and preventing any infections. Always clean the syringe after each use by rinsing it with warm water and allowing it to air dry. It’s also important to store the syringe in a cool, dry place to prevent any bacteria from growing.
Conclusion
In conclusion, choosing the right nasal spray syringe is essential for safe and effective use of nasal spray. Consider the different types, factors to look for, and key features when making your decision. Always follow proper usage and cleaning instructions, and make sure to purchase from a reputable source. With the right nasal spray syringe, you can effectively manage your nasal symptoms and breathe easy.

Understanding the Dynamics of the Fill Finish Manufacturing Market
Almost every day, we rely on pharmaceuticals like ear drops, eye drops, nasal sprays, and vaccines to be sterile, hygienic, and free from contamination. Because these parenteral products are injected or introduced to delicate mucus membranes, adding something non-sterile to your eye, or nose, or injected into your muscle, skin, or vein, can have serious adverse effects, such as a fever or infection. This requires a special manufacturing process called aseptic processing, or fill-finish manufacturing, which addresses risks through a range of cleaning, sterilization, and isolation practices. It is expected that the fill-finish manufacturing market will continue to grow in the areas of fill-finish and lyophilization to support the rising parenteral drug product manufacturing.
Fill-finish operations, including all the processes and activities that get the pharmaceutical component ready for distribution and commercialization as a Drug Product (DP), cover a significant portion of the whole biopharmaceutical manufacturing, in terms of both process complexity and processing costs. Many pharmaceutical companies have shifted their focus from developing blockbuster drugs to creating treatments for rare diseases, also known as orphan drugs. Often these rare disease treatments require parenteral drug formulations. The increase in rare disease treatment development and the increase in prefilled syringe usage for sterile-fill finish biologics contribute to the increasing popularity and need for sterile-fill finish manufacturing operations. As the demand for sterile fill-finish operations rises, pharmaceutical companies are partnering with contract manufacturers that can support the fill-finish production needs of their unique parenteral product.

I’ll sum this post up in 1 word. Evil.
It’s evil because it’s intent is to manipulate parents into not protecting their children from diseases which babies have zero to minimal natural immunity against.
I don’t know the original poster of this but if you’re a parent and have decided not to have your children vaccinated then you gambled with their life through that decision. They may have gotten lucky and evaded the diseases that vaccines target purely by mixing with others who are vaccinated so have indirectly benefitted your children by not spreading disease because their parents realise the part vaccination plays in limiting spread as well as providing protection.
If on the other hand you are a parent whose children are vaccinated then you are a hypocrite who is denying other parents the same protection your kids have been given. If you don’t have children then who the heck are you to try and influence gullible parents to not vaccinate their offspring?
Regardless this whole post is vile and you as a Christian as your blog seems to suggest have probably just reserved yourself a spike in the hell you spend a lot of time believing in. You are effectively signing the death warrant of children you’ll never meet because as we see on tumblr some people buy into this kind of rubbish where you have zero accountability. I’m not sure your God will view you in a positive light when it comes to your judgement. As an Atheist I’m freed from that concern by not believing in heaven or hell. But I do see all life as precious and would prefer people make informed decisions based on fact not a silly photo and deliberately distorted misinformation. Wouldn’t it be ironic if your God saw that as being more virtuous than spreading hate, fear and division amongst his beloved flock as he presses the “down” button on your personal elevator.
Let’s dig into why this is so wrong shall we? The USA has a similar vax strategy to the UK and most other developed countries so let’s not try and think that America is special eh? Several illnesses are combatted in a single vaccine so this whole post of yours is inaccurate and misleading. Some vaccines are given orally or via nasal spray so don’t even involve a syringe.
Yes, until 1942 vaccines were not widely used and millions - particularly children - were dying or suffering severe illness from Diptheria, Polio, Whooping Cough (Pertussis), Tetanus, Measles etc. We don’t live in 1942 any more. There’s been 80 years of vaccine development since then that generations - including you whether you’re vaccinated or not - have benefited from. Babies and young children are particularly vulnerable to these diseases for well known reasons. Their immune systems are still developing for years after birth and not everything we are vaccinated for are viruses. Some are for bacterial illnesses. Hopefully you know the difference and that other than smallpox we haven’t eradicated a single virus.
Many of the diseases which claimed thousands of children’s lives until vaccines were invented to manage their severity have become controlled almost to the point of eradication but only because of the volume of vaccinated children. Diptheria for example is now around 1000 cases a year in the USA. Prior to vaccination that number was around 200,000 cases. Diptheria is a potentially fatal illness in children. This story is the same for all the illnesses that we’ve been vaccinated for, because the diseases can not be eliminated and due to their severity. They will always exist so what you are suggesting is to stop all that and we take our chances & trust our immune systems. It’s tantamount to returning to the Dark Ages. Things would go back to where they were pre-vaccine and children (and adults) will die. In their millions.
Do you see now why I call you evil? You think this is a game and really did you have a view on vaccines pre-covid? I bet you didn’t. The spread of disease is controlled by vaccination and alarmingly because of people like you who cannot trust the proven science of vaccines you are causing doubt to creep in amongst the uneducated and gullible which is alarmingly allowing Measles and other viruses to begin to spread again. The increasing danger kids are being placed in purely through misinformation is very real and you are playing a part in that.
No doubt you’ll counter that it’s me who is evil because vaccines aren’t safe and I’m the one gambling with children’s lives. Which is utter bullshit. We’ve had 80 years of knowledge building and improvements in technology to benefit from and have seen billions of doses administered with only extremely rare cases of allergic reaction.
This idiocy from a Conspiracy Fearists like yourself can not go unchallenged and I’m not letting this one pass. Especially given all the tags on your posts about #educateyourself etc. You do none of that. Instead you steal posts and circulate them as a “voice of authority”. You pretend you’re informed, wise and some kind of crusader. Instead you’re a cowardly idiot who plays games with people just to build yourself a following amongst those who already exist in an echo chamber & subscribe to a philosophy of fear and misplaced trust. Your post is wrong on every imaginable level and again leads me to think that the American education system is broken beyond repair. It’s the epicentre of misinformation on a par with China and Russia. 2 countries you probably despise and fear but you have more in common than you think. Look at Whooping Cough cases worldwide... it’s no coincidence you’re in the top 5 with them. They don’t get to choose the info they have access to online. You do. #educateyourself

Post-Op Humor: Commentary and Dark Humor After Surgery
I had surgery to correct my deviated septum and reduce turbinates bilaterally on 19 Jun. 2023. Following are the dankest, funniest observations and bad jokes about rock salt.
This post is long.
Forgot to tell everyone: I promised my mother I would wear clean underpants with no holes in them. I kept my word. LOL! - 20 Jun. 2023
Before surgery, I asked the anesthesiologist if he knew about Neil Gaiman's Sandman graphic novels and the character Morpheus, aka Dream. I said, "You put people to sleep for a living, so I hope you know about the Lord of Dreams." He said yes! Then I said, "Good! Then I can do business with you." LOL! My sister Heather looked at me weird. I said "That's how I get to know people, Heather." LMAO! Any anesthesiologist worth their job should know about Dream. My sleep doctor - the type of doctor who does sleep studies and treats apnea - did not know about Sandman. I strongly recommended to him that he read it because his job is literally helping people to get better sleep, and he needs to know about the Lord of Dreams. - 20 Jun. 2023
"Mouth breather!" LMFAO! That's me now! One of the things they didn't mention about the surgery. Dry mouth and dry throat are extremely unpleasant. Accompanied by GIF of Eleven from Stranger Things saying "Mouth breather." - 20 Jun. 2023
ICE CREAM TIME! Good kids get ice cream after surgery. - 20 Jun. 2023
One thing they didn't tell me about post-op care, I'll just say that saline sinus irrigation in the bathroom sink can look a bit like an episode of serial killer series. - 20 Jun. 2023
Trivia help needed: Is there a version of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy where the Vogons wear spit buckets under their chins? Wearing this dang drip pad under my nose is reminding me of this. Not sure if it was part of Douglas Adams' version or if it was mentioned in Eoin Colfer's sequel "And Another Thing." - 22 Jun. 2023
SALTY. That's something they neglect to inform you. When you irrigate your sinuses with 8 ounces of saline every 4 to 6 hours, everything will taste and smell salty. EVERYTHING. IS. SALTY. - 22 Jun. 2023
I'm going to turn my skull into a geode and grow rock salt inside all the cavities. - 22 Jun. 2023
After 5 days of brining, does that make me a salt-cured ham? - 24 Jun. 2023
After all the saline irrigation, I'm brainwashed. Stockholm Syndrome has set in. I love my little blue bulb syringe and the salt water. Is this what surfers experience in the ocean? LMAO! - 25 Jun. 2023
Since surgery a week ago, I have been unable to sleep more than 2 or 3 hours at a stretch for a variety of reasons. I'm hoping today that I can get some good sleep. May Morpheus, the Sandman, King of Dreams, Prince of Stories, Lord Shaper, the Oneiromancer, grant me sweet uninterrupted sleep. - 26 Jun. 2023
Morpheus delivered real REM sleep this morning, finally. Sweet relief. Visit more often, Lord of Dreams. While sleep was interrupted a few times by a hungry cat and feeling hot and needing drinks and a bathroom break, I was able to go back to sleep right away. - 27 Jun. 2023
Rest in peace, little blue bulb syringe. Our relationship was short-lived, but you forced me to love saline solution. Your seal cracked and you no longer function. Now it's time for me to move on to the next torture device - the 8-ounce irrigation bottle. - 27 Jun. 2023
The nasal irrigation bottle comes with a 32-page color instruction / health education booklet / product catalog. It has information about 10 devices and accessories for nasal irrigation and aspiration (squirt bottles, neti pots, electronic pumps, cleaning and drying tools, and manual and battery powered aspirators) for adults and children, at least 8 to 10 various saline (powders, sprays, gels, and bottled and canned liquids) and decongestant (sprays and nasal inhalers) products, and lastly an earwax removal kit. Who knew the variety of sinus and nasal cleaning products was available? - 27 Jun. 2023
If salt is used for purification and to create a barrier of protection, then my nostrils have to be impervious to demons by now. I'm flushing the evil spirits out of my brain. LMFAO! - 2 Jul. 2023
Post-op appointment with the surgeon today. I'm healing nicely. Everything looks good. No rock salt crystals were found in my skull. However, a few nose goblins were suctioned out. Then stitches were removed. I can return to normal activities, including sleeping without the wedge pillow. Follow up again in 2 weeks. Now it's time for ice cream! Good kids get ice cream! - 5 Jul. 2023
I told the surgeon my joke about brining myself for a week with saline solution, if that makes me a salt-cured ham. He said I should be well seasoned now for people to eat for survival like in the movie Alive. We both laughed. Good one, doctor. - 5 Jul. 2023
Four weeks post-op. Doctor says I'm healing perfectly. He doesn't need to see me again. The elevator was out of service in the clinic, and I was able to walk up 4 flights of stairs (after using my rescue inhaler first) with little shortness of breath today! Best news is I don't have to water board myself twice a day anymore!!! He recommended to use saline as needed to control allergy symptoms. I don't have to use Afrin anymore. (OMG Afrin is vile shit. I'd rather saw off my head than use it willingly. They use it in office visits along with lidocaine so the scope can go up your nose.) My skull has not turned into a geode full of salt crystals. I asked. He checked. I've noticed increased airflow. When I have an allergy or asthma attack, now my airway is less constricted and I recover more quickly. (That's code for I don't feel like I'm going to die during an asthma attack.) - 17 Jul. 2023

“Your house burns down, your community burns down, your school burns down — of course, you look for an escape.”
Marin Hambley poses for a portrait at an empty lot next to a Walmart in Chico, Calif. on August 6, 2023. There, a temporary camp was set up after the Camp Fire in 2018, and hundreds of mostly low-income people fled the wildfire and flocked to the site, where community organizers distributed food, water, and clothing. Hambley witnessed a disturbing uptick in overdoses following the colossal Camp Fire. A local physician observed that overdoses went from a weekly occurrence to a daily one in the weeks following the fire.
"At the time, the county lacked official harm reduction infrastructure. Hambley and other organizers had to locate and distribute supplies on their own. Without the required certification, their activities weren’t technically legal, but Hambley said that was a risk they were willing to take. While the group had received a grant for purchasing Narcan — the overdose-preventing nasal spray approved for over-the-counter use last March — they had to obtain syringes, needles, cotton swabs and fentanyl test strips from groups elsewhere in the state. “We were all kind of underground,” Hambley said, noting that they smuggled backpacks stuffed with Narcan into Red Cross-operated shelters, where drug use was prohibited, though widely practiced."
With a rate of 17.04 deaths per 100,000 residents, the Paradise area experienced more opioid-related overdose deaths in 2018 than any other zip code in Butte County, triple the State average.

Face over hot water (usually with some herbs on it) using a towel to avoid the heat scaping - remedy for nasal congestion and mucous cough
Drink a lot of water, with lemon and honey ( and ginger if you have it) for sore throats and dry coughs
A glass of water with a table spoon of sodium bicarbonate for nausea
Also in general get either the sprays they have in farmacies or a saline solution and a syringe (they are cheaper overall but also might go bad quicker, I recommend this if you have more than one person using it) to clean your nose. Spray each nostril tilting your head to the side and slightly backwards, helps with congestion and coughing.
This is less home-remedish but not very well known, if you frequently get nosebleeds there are creams you put inside your nose to heal the skin there and avoid bleeding!!! Get those if you need them they are life savers!!!

[ad_1] Louise Vincent, government director of the North Carolina Survivors Union, holds a vial of the overdose reversal drug naloxone. "Virtually everybody that comes this is alive as a result of naloxone," Vincent says. Aneri Pattani/KHN disguise caption toggle caption Aneri Pattani/KHN Louise Vincent, government director of the North Carolina Survivors Union, holds a vial of the overdose reversal drug naloxone. "Virtually everybody that comes this is alive as a result of naloxone," Vincent says. Aneri Pattani/KHN Louise Vincent figures her team, the North Carolina Survivors Union, saves a minimum of 1,690 lives a 12 months. The harm-reduction and syringe carrier program in Greensboro, N.C., distributes the opioid overdose reversal medicine naloxone to those that use medicine. Analysis suggests this way is efficacious, since individuals who use medicine are in all probability to witness an overdose and administer naloxone. The 1,690 quantity refers to how time and again contributors within the Survivors Union reported the usage of the medicine between July 2020 and June 2021. However the actual selection of lives stored may well be upper: This system dispensed just about 9,400 doses of naloxone all the way through that point. Remedy for dependancy is to be had. For assist, name the loose and confidential remedy referral hotline (1-800-662-HELP), or discuss with findtreatment.gov. Now, as overdose deaths national succeed in all-time highs, the Biden management has made expanding get right of entry to to naloxone a key a part of its overdose prevention technique. It has allocated an extraordinary $30 million in federal price range for harm-reduction teams and introduced the advent of a type regulation that state legislatures can move to beef up get right of entry to. However Vincent and her friends say the management has now not addressed their biggest barrier to acquiring the lifesaving medicine: naloxone's prescription-only standing. "This designation is the basis of all evil," stated Nabarun Dasgupta, a scientist on the College of North Carolina's college of public well being and co-founder of the Patrons Membership, a collective of greater than 100 harm-reduction methods within the U.S. The Meals and Drug Management authorized naloxone as a prescription drug to regard opioid overdoses in 1971, when it was once solely an injectable drug. That is still the most cost effective shape and the only used maximum by means of harm-reduction teams, that have lengthy trusted a handle Pfizer to shop for the medicine for lower than $5 a dose. Then again, more moderen, nasal spray variations of naloxone — together with the brand-name drug Narcan, which has a reduced value of about $38 a dose — are to be had in lots of police stations, libraries and faculties. Although all 50 states permit people to shop for naloxone, regularly identified by means of the brand-name drug Narcan, organizations that order the medicine from drugmakers are matter to federal regulations that explain the drug as prescription-only. The foundations make having access to the lifesaving medicine tough for the ones at prime chance of overdosing. Aneri Pattani/KHN disguise caption
toggle caption Aneri Pattani/KHN All 50 states permit people to shop for naloxone on the pharmacy and not using a prescription. States do not have the authority to designate it as an over the counter medicine, however they have created workarounds — equivalent to a state well being authentic writing one prescription that can be utilized for each and every resident. However those workarounds do not practice to organizations that acquire naloxone in bulk from drugmakers. When a sanatorium, harm-reduction team or another group orders naloxone from pharmaceutical corporations, the firms are required to regard naloxone the way in which the government sees it: as a prescription medicine, Dasgupta stated. Because of this, the firms impose a chain of necessities on consumers. For instance, a company that orders naloxone should have a health care provider signal for the order, and that physician should be somebody who has now not signed for every other team. The group should even have an cope with that isn't a personal house to obtain shipments, a scientific or pharmacy license and the power to conform to rules for storing and allotting the medicine. Hospitals and well being departments can simply satisfy those necessities. However they may be able to be laborious for smaller, grassroots teams, lots of which can be led by means of volunteers and function out of makeshift house or automobile places of work, stated Eliza Wheeler and Maya Doe-Simkins, co-founders of the Patrons Membership and co-authors of a paper with Dasgupta in this matter. When those teams cannot order naloxone, the folks they serve can die, Wheeler and Doe-Simkins stated. The ones shoppers would possibly not essentially flip to pharmacies. Certainly, as overdose deaths surged in 2020, pharmacy gross sales of naloxone reduced. The price of the medicine, necessities to turn ID, a terror of discrimination from pharmacists and an incapability to discover a pharmacy that shares naloxone are all boundaries, stated West Virginia College researcher Robin Pollini, who research naloxone distribution. So harm-reduction teams are calling at the FDA to permit naloxone to be offered over the counter so they may be able to order it extra simply and distribute it to the folks on the biggest chance of overdosing. The product has lengthy been deemed secure and efficient for group use, harm-reduction teams say, even by means of the FDA. Different advocates have instructed that the Division of Well being and Human Services and products factor an order permitting producers to promote naloxone to organizations purchasing in bulk and not using a prescriber's signoff. "Having extra naloxone in the street can solely do just right. It cannot do damage," stated Thomas Stopka, an epidemiologist and substance use researcher at Tufts College Faculty of Drugs. "We wish to pull out the entire stops and imagine a number of various avenues to handle this factor of provide." The worry was once highlighted this 12 months when a producing drawback depleted Pfizer's inventory of naloxone and the corporate could not fill orders for harm-reduction teams. Hikma, every other corporate that makes naloxone, introduced to donate 50,000 injectable doses to the affected teams. However as a result of naloxone's prescription standing and Hikma's related forms necessities, solely 3 harm-reduction methods certified, Dasgupta stated. (Pfizer stated that the producing factor has been resolved and that shipments resumed q4.) Hana Fields is the co-founder of Prevent Hurt on Tulsa Streets (SHOTS), a harm-reduction group in Oklahoma. For the reason that team's physician retired in January, SHOTS has trusted naloxone donations from different methods around the state and nation.
Rosa Hernandez disguise caption toggle caption Rosa Hernandez Hana Fields is the co-founder of Prevent Hurt on Tulsa Streets (SHOTS), a harm-reduction group in Oklahoma. For the reason that team's physician retired in January, SHOTS has trusted naloxone donations from different methods around the state and nation. Rosa Hernandez In Oklahoma, SHOTS (Prevent Hurt on Tulsa Streets) did not qualify for Hikma's donation since the team did not have a health care provider who may signal for its order, co-founder Hana Fields stated. The physician the crowd had in the past labored with retired in January, and SHOTS had but to discover a alternative . Many medical doctors are apprehensive about legal responsibility or just do not go back her calls, she stated. Within the interim, SHOTS depends upon naloxone donations from different methods. "The stakes are so prime. My pals are death," stated Fields, whose existence has been stored by means of naloxone and who has been in restoration for seven years. In a observation to KHN, the FDA laid accountability at the corporations making naloxone, announcing it has inspired pharmaceutical producers to use for over the counter designation for years, even doing the legwork to expand consumer-friendly labels which are generally the purview of businesses. "We proceed to pray that a number of sponsors will put up an software, as this will be the maximum direct regulatory trail for the FDA with the intention to approve a non-prescription naloxone," the company stated. But if, or if, that'll occur is unclear. Pfizer and Hikma instructed KHN that they don't have present plans to pursue an over the counter designation. Emergent BioSolutions, which makes Narcan, stated it's "comparing the possibility of OTC naloxone" however warned of "unintentional penalties" from the transfer, equivalent to insurers now not overlaying the fee and customers having to pay out-of-pocket. (Professionals say merchandise generally are inexpensive when offered over-the-counter.) Hurt Aid Therapeutics, a nonprofit pharmaceutical corporate, stated it plans to use for an over the counter naloxone nasal spray subsequent 12 months, with the purpose that or not it's on cabinets in 2023. CEO Michael Hufford stated the corporate will donate maximum of its product to harm-reduction teams and lift price range to offset the fee to customers at retail pharmacies. Lately, the majority of the corporate's investment comes from Purdue Pharma, the maker of OxyContin. However advocates say the FDA must make the transfer itself. "We now have this lifesaving software to be had during the entire time of this disaster, and the government has simply been sitting on its arms," stated Leo Beletsky, a professor of regulation and well being sciences at Northeastern College in Boston. Some pharmaceutical corporations previously have argued that the federal government does not have the authority to designate a prescription drug as over the counter, however others level to a statute that permits a drug's prescription standing to be got rid of "when such necessities don't seem to be vital for the safety of the general public well being." In 1982, the FDA designated an bronchial asthma inhaler as an over the counter drug with out the corporate's request, despite the fact that it later rescinded that standing as a result of standard complaint that the inhalers can be overused. In the meantime, harm-reduction organizations, just like the North Carolina Survivors Union in Greensboro, see the call for for naloxone day by day. Vincent, who runs this system, stated value and regulatory burdens save you her from ordering naloxone without delay.
As a substitute, she depends upon donations from different teams. However she fears the day her team does not have sufficient. "I will't glance somebody within the eye and inform them I will't give them medication that is going to avoid wasting their lives," Vincent stated. KHN (Kaiser Well being Information) is an editorially unbiased newsroom and an working program of KFF (Kaiser Circle of relatives Basis). Tips to Clean Your Baby’s Stuffy Nose
Unlike adults, infants and toddlers cannot blow their noses. They are also not very comfortable breathing through their mouth. A congested and stuffy nose makes them uncomfortable and interferes with feeding and sleeping. Infants should gain weight regularly. However, a congested nose can hamper feeding and interrupt weight gain. In extreme cases, your baby may even lose weight.
Here are some tips for cleaning their stuffy nose easily.
Use a saline nasal spray: Pediatric nasal sprays, basically just saline water, are easily available in the market. Put a couple of drops in your infant’s nostrils to clear the block. You can even make your own nasal spray and use a dropper or syringe to put it in your baby’s nostrils. Be careful not to buy strong nasal drops that often have strong flavors and chemicals.
Use a nasal suction bulb: Squeeze the bulb and take out the air. Then put it in your baby’s nostril. Let go of the bulb and let the air fill it. In the process, the bulb will suck out the mucus from the nostril into the bulb. Squeeze out the mucus from the bulb into a tissue. Repeat the process until the nose becomes clean and your baby can breathe properly.
Warm bath: Giving a warm bath can also reduce congestion.
Warm oil massage: Massaging your baby with warm mustard oil is a traditional home remedy. Some people add raw garlic cloves and black nigella seeds while warming the oil. You can massage the baby with this oil at bedtime. Overnight the congestion gets better. However, always consult your doctor before trying any home remedy.
As a parent, it is unpleasant to watch your bundle of joy struggling to breathe due to a stuffy nose. Most babies become cranky and irritable when they suffer from nasal congestion. Cleaning your baby’s nose may not be a simple thing to do. Some babies resist when someone tries to clean their noses.
