[BBC is UK State Media]
At least nine Palestinians have been killed in a major operation by Israeli forces in the north of the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian health ministry says.
Israeli security forces said they had begun "a counterterrorism operation” in Jenin and Tulkarm overnight [...]
It also said another four were killed in an air strike during a simultaneous operation in al-Faraa refuee camp near Tubas.
Local journalists said they had not seen anything of this scope and scale in the West Bank since the days of the second Palestinian intifada, or uprising, two decades ago.[...]
Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed [in the West Bank since 7 October] as Israeli forces have intensified their raids, saying they are trying to stem deadly Palestinian attacks on Israelis in the West Bank and Israel.[...]
Israeli media reported that hundreds of Israeli forces were active in four different cities at least in the north of the West Bank – Jenin, Tulkarm, Tubas and Nablus.
The Palestinian health ministry in the West Bank said on Wednesday morning the bodies of seven people had been brought to Tubas governmental hospital and that two others had arrived at Jenin governmental hospital. The Palestinian Red Crescent also reported that at least nine people had been killed across the West Bank[...] It said they included three who were killed in a drone strike in Misilya, a village near Jenin, and four others who were killed in a drone strike in al-Faraa refugee camp, near Tubas.
However, the true figure could be higher, with the governor of Jenin earlier saying that at least 11 people had been killed.
In Jenin - a regular flashpoint - troops blocked all but one of the entrances to the city and set up checkpoints.
The health ministry said Israeli forces had also surrounded Jenin government hospital and the nearby Ibn Sina hospital, as well as the headquarters of the Palestinian Red Crescent and the Friends of the Patients society.
It warned that they were threatening to storm the hospitals and that doing so would threaten the lives of dozens of patients inside as well as medical staff.
"At this moment, there are patients that are leaving the hospital but after the IDF check their IDs," a local journalist inside the government hospital told the BBC. "It's a scary situation."
The health ministry also accused them of obstructing the work of ambulances, which it said was a violation of international law. The troops have also been searching Jenin refugee camp[...]
A resident of the camp told the BBC that he could hear explosions nearby and the buzzing of drones overhead, but that there was currently no sign of armed fighters taking on Israeli forces.
He said Israeli armoured bulldozers had destroyed the main street through the camp and piled rubble at the entrance to block access.[...]
Hamas later put out a statement mourning six men who it said were fighters killed by Israeli forces in Jenin on Wednesday.[...]
A woman in Tubas told the BBC that Israeli forces were “bringing more and more military vehicles and bulldozers” into al-Faraa refugee camp.[...]
IDF spokesman Lt Col Nadav Shoshani [...] declined to say how long the operation would last or how many troops were involved.[...]
Mr Katz said the threat must be addressed with the same determination of the threat from Gaza. including “temporary evacuation of Palestinian residents” - something we have not heard in an official capacity before.
A spokesman for Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas warned that the escalating Israeli raids in the West Bank, alongside the Gaza war, would “lead to dire and dangerous results for which everyone will pay the price”.
Nabil Abu Rudeineh called for urgent international action to “curb this extremist [Israeli] government that poses a threat to the stability of the region and the entire world”.
Hamas - which is a bitter rival of Mr Abbas’s Fatah movement - condemned the Israeli operation, calling it part of the “brutal genocidal war in Gaza”.
A spokeswoman for the UN Human Rights Office also said such an operation "risks seriously deepening the already catastrophic situation", and that the use of air strikes and other military weapons and tactics by Israeli security forces "violates human rights norms and standards applicable to law enforcement operations".
The UN said 622 Palestinians - members of armed groups, attackers and civilians - had been killed in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, between 7 October and Monday. At least 602 were killed by Israeli forces, including 126 in air strikes, and 11 by Israeli settlers, it added.
Fifteen Israelis, including nine members of Israeli forces and five settlers, were killed by Palestinians in the West Bank during the same period, while 10 Israelis were killed in Israel in attacks by Palestinians from the West Bank.
Israel has built about 160 settlements housing some 700,000 Jews since it occupied the West Bank in the 1967 Middle East war. The settlements are considered illegal under international law, although Israel disputes this.

Long-time Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and other top commanders of the terror group were killed in a massive Israeli airstrike on their underground headquarters in the Lebanese capital of Beirut, the Israel Defense Forces announced Saturday morning as Israel sought to dramatically upend the year-long conflict.
Hezbollah confirmed his death several hours later.
The announcement came as the Israeli military ramped up its airstrikes against Hezbollah assets in Beirut and other areas in Lebanon, hours after Nasrallah was struck at the terror group’s main headquarters, leaving parts of the Lebanese capital shrouded in smoke and dust.
Israel has eliminated much of the Hezbollah terror group’s most senior leadership in recent weeks.
In a statement, the IDF said that alongside Nasrallah, the commander of Hezbollah’s so-called Southern Front, Ali Karaki — who survived a recent assassination attempt — was also killed in the Friday afternoon strike, along with other top commanders in the terror group.
Nasrallah was targeted by dozens of bunker-busting bombs dropped by Israeli Force fighter jets while at Hezbollah’s main headquarters in the southern suburbs of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold known as the Dahiyeh.
An IDF infographic published September 28, 2024 shows Hezbollah’s chain of command. (Israel Defense Forces)
The headquarters was located underground, beneath residential buildings in the Dahiyeh, the IDF said, later announced that the name of the operation was called “New Order.”
“The strike was carried out while the top brass of Hezbollah were at their headquarters and engaged in coordinating terror activities against the citizens of the State of Israel,” the military said.
Army spokesman Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani said the airstrike targeting Nasrallah was based on years of tracking him, along with “real-time intelligence.” He said Israel confirmed the death through various types of intelligence, though he declined to elaborate.
Hezbollah confirmed his death on Saturday afternoon.

‘Hezbollah fires over 100 rockets across a wider and deeper area of Israel,’ Israel sends massive ‘mystery bomb’ into Lebanon, and future terror?
COGwriter
Notice the following:
Hezbollah fires over 100 rockets across a wider and deeper area of Israel
September 22, 2024
NAHARIYA, Israel — Hezbollah launched more than 100 rockets early Sunday across a wider and deeper area of northern Israel, with some landing near the city of Haifa, as Israel launched hundreds of strikes on Lebanon. The sides appeared to be spiraling toward all-out war following months of escalating tensions.
The rocket barrage overnight set off air raid sirens across northern Israel, sending thousands of people scrambling into shelters. The Israeli military said that rockets had been fired “toward civilian areas,” pointing to a possible escalation after previous barrages had mainly been aimed at military targets. …
The barrage came after an Israeli airstrike in Beirut on Friday killed at least 45 people, including one of Hezbollah’s top leaders as well as women and children. Hezbollah was already reeling from a sophisticated attack that caused thousands of personal devices to explode just days earlier.
The Israeli military said that it carried out a wave of strikes across southern Lebanon over the past 24 hours, hitting about 400 militant sites, including rocket launchers. Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani, an Israeli military spokesman, said those strikes had thwarted an even larger attack.
“Hundreds of thousands of civilians have come under fire across a lot of northern Israel. They spent the night and now the morning in bomb shelters,” he said. “Today we saw fire that was deeper into Israel than before.”
The military also said it had intercepted multiple aerial devices fired from the direction of Iraq, after Iran-backed militant groups there claimed to have launched a drone attack on Israel. …
Until recently, neither side was believed to be seeking an all-out war, and Hezbollah has so far stopped short of targeting Tel Aviv or major civilian infrastructure. But in recent weeks, Israel has shifted its focus from Gaza to Lebanon and vowed to bring back calm to the border so that its citizens can return to their homes. Hezbollah has said that it would only halt its attacks if there is a cease-fire in Gaza, which appears increasingly elusive.
The war in Gaza began with Hamas’ October 7 attack into Israel, in which Palestinian militants killed about 1,200 people and took around 250 others hostage. They are still holding around 100 captives, a third of whom are believed to be dead. Over 41,000 Palestinians have been killed, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. It doesn’t say how many were fighters, but says women and children make up more than half of the dead.
Families of the hostages have raised fears that a war in the north would distract from their plight and further complicate the negotiations over their release.
The U.N. envoy for Lebanon called on all parties to pull back.
“With the region on the brink of an imminent catastrophe, it cannot be overstated enough: there is NO military solution that will make either side safer,” Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert said in an X post.
Israeli media reported that rockets fired from Lebanon early Sunday were intercepted in the areas of Haifa and Nazareth, which are farther south than most of the rocket fire to date. Israel canceled school across the north, deepening the sense of crisis.
Hezbollah said that it had launched dozens of Fadi 1 and Fadi 2 missiles — a new type of weapon the group hadn’t used before — at the Ramat David airbase, southeast of Haifa, “in response to the repeated Israeli attacks that targeted various Lebanese regions and led to the fall of many civilian martyrs.” …
Hezbollah has vowed to retaliate against Israel for a wave of explosions that hit pagers and walkie-talkies belonging to Hezbollah members on Tuesday and Wednesday, killing at least 37 people — including two children — and wounding around 3,000. The attacks were widely blamed on Israel, which hasn’t confirmed or denied responsibility. https://www.voanews.com/a/over-100-rockets-fired-from-lebanon-into-israel/7793765.html
In the past several days we have seen an expanded regional war.
Notice also:
Israel Unleashes… On South Lebanon With Giant Mystery Bomb As War Escalates
Massive escalation along the southern Lebanese border is very clear at this point, as Israeli jets have pounded Hezbollah positions …
Another indicator of the escalation is that Israel is apparently beginning use much bigger bombs compared to much of the past nearly year of internecine fighting. The below widely circulating footage shows a large flash and skyscraper-size fireball, resulting in some viewers speculating it was likely a heavy bunker-buster bomb, or possibly even a tactical nuke of some sort. Whatever it was, there’s never been anything like it used on Lebanon (that we know about).

Could we be seeing the prelude to the following prophecy in the Book of Isaiah?
6 Elam bore the quiver With chariots of men and horsemen, And Kir uncovered the shield. 7 It shall come to pass that your choicest valleys Shall be full of chariots, And the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate.
8 He removed the protection of Judah. You looked in that day to the armor of the House of the Forest; 9 You also saw the damage to the city of David, That it was great; And you gathered together the waters of the lower pool. 10 You numbered the houses of Jerusalem, And the houses you broke down To fortify the wall. 11 You also made a reservoir between the two walls For the water of the old pool. But you did not look to its Maker, Nor did you have respect for Him who fashioned it long ago.
12 And in that day the Lord God of hosts Called for weeping and for mourning, For baldness and for girding with sackcloth. 13 But instead, joy and gladness, Slaying oxen and killing sheep, Eating meat and drinking wine: “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”
14 Then it was revealed in my hearing by the Lord of hosts,”Surely for this iniquity there will be no atonement for you, Even to your death,” says the Lord God of hosts. (Isaiah 22:6-14 NKJV)
Elam is a reference to at least some in Iran. The old Worldwide Church of God published the following:
Iranians comprise nearly 70 percent of the country. Iranians, though Islamic, are totally distinct from the neighboring Arab peoples of the Middle East. They are a mixed people of the remnants of Media and Elam and other ancestors of Semitic and Hamitic stock. (Stump K. South Asia in Prophecy. Plain Truth, July/August 1986, p. 5)
The Bible tells that after Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria took over Damascus, he moved Syrians to Kir (2 Kings 16:9-10). God’s word has the expression “the Syrians from Kir” (Amos 9:7), which is basically confirmation that Kir of Isaiah 22 would include Syrians. The Bible also tells of a time when Kir will be destroyed (Isaiah 15:1b) and also says that Syria’s capital Damascus will be destroyed (Isaiah 17:1).While this does not mean that Kir must (or must only) be a reference to Syria, the fact that Syria is an ally of Iran is interesting.
In Isaiah 22: 8, “Judah” is a reference to those in the land commonly called Israel–God will allow Israel to be attacked! In Isaiah 22:9, consider that “the damage to the city of David” is a reference to at least part of Jerusalem–and notice that the damage will be great.
The “House of the Forest” was anciently located in Lebanon (e.g. 1 Kings 7:2, 10:17,21; 2 Chronicles 9:16,20)–see also A Discourse on the House of the Forest of Lebanon, pp: 111-134 in Bunyan J. Stebbing H. The Entire Works of John Bunyan, Volume 4. Virtue and Company, 1860.
Here is the Catholic Public Domain Version translation of Isaiah 22:8:
8 And the covering of Judah will be exposed, and in that day, you will see the weaponry of the forest house. (Isaiah 22:8, CPDV)
A way for Judah to “see the weaponry of the forest house” would be a massive attack by Hezbollah. Today it showed that it can reach deep into Israel.
In Isaiah 22:1-14, the Bible shows that God will allow something that appears to be an Iranian-Syrian-Southern Lebanese confederation, to strike the nation of Israel.
Israel’s ‘Iron Dome’ and other defenses will not be able to protect Jerusalem against enough of the coming attack to prevent great damage.
The Continuing Church of God (CCOG) just uploaded the following Bible News Prophecy video on our Bible News Prophecy YouTube channel related to some of what has been happening:

Israel Intensifies the War
European Union foreign policy chief, Josep Borrel, has been brokering the nuclear negotiations involving Iran and said that he thinks the deal is “in danger.” Iran blames the United States, whereas the USA says they are not delaying it. Israeli sources stated that Israel will stop Iran from getting a nuclear bomb. Joe Biden says the USA would use its own military power to prevent Iran from getting such a bomb if need be. In 2021, Iranian lawmakers have submitted a bill seeking the government by law to commit to Israel’s destruction by the year 2040. Does the 22nd chapter of Isaiah point to damage coming to Israel from Iran and possibly Syria? Might Iran be concerned enough about limited progress with the USA to launch some type of attack? Is Iran the prophesied ‘King of the South’? Is it reasonable to think that the prophesied peace deal of Daniel 9:27 will not happen until after a military conflict. like a regional war? Should Christians watch the Middle East? Dr. Thiel and Steve Dupuie discuss these matters.
Here is a link to our video: Israel Intensifies the War.
We are in a time of wars and rumors of wars as Jesus foretold (Matthew 24:4-8).
A reader sent me the following:
September 22, 2024
Israel’s brazen attacks on Hezbollah last week, in which hundreds of pagers and two-way radios exploded and killed at least 37 people, graphically illustrated a threat that cybersecurity experts have been warning about for years: Our international supply chains for computerized equipment leave us vulnerable. And we have no good means to defend ourselves.
Though the deadly operations were stunning, none of the elements used to carry them out were particularly new. The tactics employed by Israel, which has neither confirmed nor denied any role, to hijack an international supply chain and embed plastic explosives in Hezbollah devices have been used for years. What’s new is that Israel put them together in such a devastating and extravagantly public fashion, bringing into stark relief what the future of great power competition will look like — in peacetime, wartime and the ever expanding gray zone in between.
The targets won’t just be terrorists. Our computers are vulnerable, and increasingly, so are our cars, our refrigerators, our home thermostats and many other useful things in our orbits. Targets are everywhere.
The core component of the operation — implanting plastic explosives in pagers and radios — has been a terrorist risk since Richard Reid, the so-called shoe bomber, tried to ignite some on an airplane in 2001. That’s what all of those airport scanners are designed to detect — both the ones you see at security checkpoints and the ones that later scan your luggage. Even a small amount can do an impressive degree of damage. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/22/opinion/israel-pager-attacks-supply-chain.html
Yes, we may see future terror involving things we normally consider to be fairly safe.
Future terrorism is prophesied (e.g. Deuteronomy 32:25; see also Why Terrorism? Is Terrorism Prophesied?).

Israel achieved war goals in Gaza, ceasefire talks resume in Qatar
Israel achieved all it could in Gaza militarily, senior US officials said. Meanwhile, the US claims that a new round of talks in Doha, Qatar, on a ceasefire and hostage release agreement in Gaza has commenced with a “promising start.”
As the Biden administration seeks to restart cease-fire talks, a growing number of national security officials in the government say the Israeli military has seriously set back Hamas but will never be able to completely destroy the group, according to The New York Times.
Israeli forces could now move freely throughout Gaza, with Hamas bloodied and damaged, the officials noted. The Israeli military also claimed to have eliminated half the leadership of the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, including the top leaders Muhammad Deif and Marwan Issa.
Over the past 10 months, “Israel has been able to disrupt Hamas, kill a number of their leaders and largely reduce the threat to Israel that existed before 7 October,” General Joseph L. Votel, former head of US Central Command, said. However, he emphasised that the release of the hostages could only be secured through negotiations.
Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani, a spokesman for the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), said in a telephone interview that “the IDF and its commanders are committed to achieving the goals of the war to dismantle Hamas and bring home our hostages, and will continue to operate with determination to achieve them.”
However, Yaakov Amidror, a retired Major General who served as national security adviser to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, rejected the idea that Israel had nothing more to gain in Gaza.
Israel’s achievements in Gaza are impressive, but they’re far from what should be achieved. If Israel evacuates its forces now, within a year, Hamas will be strong again.
Ceasefire talks
William J. Burns, the CIA director, arrives in Qatar on Thursday. Brett McGurk, US President Joe Biden’s Middle East coordinator, also travelled to Egypt and Qatar. Amos Hochstein, a senior White House adviser, has landed in Lebanon. They are expected to declare that there is little more Israel can do against Hamas.
The agreement is seen as key to ending the 10-month conflict, which is escalating into a full-scale regional war involving Iran, according to the BBC.
Hamas stated it would not yet participate in indirect talks in Doha, although mediators were said to be passing messages to officials of the armed group based there. It called for a roadmap based on the proposal outlined by the US president and accused Israel’s prime minister of adding new conditions, which he denied.
Mediators face a number of potential obstacles, including control of land along Gaza’s border with Egypt and the return of displaced Palestinian civilians to northern Gaza.
The talks were suspended after Hamas political leader and chief negotiator Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran in late July. Iran vowed to retaliate against Israel, which neither confirmed nor denied its involvement. The incident has raised concerns of a wider escalation.
Gaza’s health ministry reported on Thursday that at least 40,000 people had been killed in Gaza since then, which the UN human rights chief called a “grim milestone for the world.”
Negotiation details
The Israeli delegation to the Doha talks reportedly included the directors of its Mossad foreign intelligence agency and Shin Bet domestic security service, David Barnier and Ronen Bar, as well as the Israeli military’s hostages chief, Nitzan Alon.
They were joined by Burns of the CIA, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, and Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel.
After discussions began on Thursday, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters the talks were likely to continue on Friday due to the agreement’s complexity.
We’re at a point where it’s generally accepted. Where the gaps are in the execution of the deal, the individual muscle-movements that go with putting the deal in place. The remaining obstacles can be overcome, and we must bring this process to a close.
The first phase of the proposed deal would include a “full and complete ceasefire” for six weeks, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from all Gaza population centres, and the exchange of some hostages for Palestinian prisoners held in Israel.
The second phase would include the release of all remaining living hostages and a “permanent end to hostilities.” The third would mean the beginning of a massive reconstruction plan for Gaza and the return of the remains of the dead hostages.

Dozens reportedly killed in Israeli strike on Gaza
Gaza's Hamas-run civil defence agency says an Israeli air strike on a school building sheltering displaced Palestinians in Gaza City has killed dozens of people. A spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said al-Taba’een school "served as an active Hamas and Islamic Jihad military facility" with approximately 20 "militants" operating there. The Gaza civil defence agency - a rescue service - said at least 90 people were killed and dozens injured. The BBC cannot independently verify the figures.Israel has attacked several such shelters in Gaza the past few weeks. Saturday's strike hit when people sheltering at the school were performing dawn prayers, according to a statement from the Hamas media office quoted by Reuters news agency. Hamas-run defence agency spokesman Mahmud Bassal said three Israeli rockets had hit the school housing displaced Palestinians killing "between 90 to 100" people. He described the scene as a "horrific massacre" saying crews were trying to control a fire in order to rescue the wounded and retrieve bodies. The Hamas-run health ministry has not confirmed the figures.Israel's military said it had "precisely struck Hamas terrorists operating within a Hamas command and control centre embedded in the al-Taba'een school". A statement by IDF spokesman Lt Col Nadav Shoshani said that "based on Israeli intelligence, approximately 20 Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants, including senior commanders, were operating from the compound struck at the al-Tabaeen school, using it to carry out terrorist attacks". The spokesman said the casualty figures released by Hamas officials "do not align with the information held by the IDF, the precise munitions used, and the accuracy of the strike". Those reported figures for Saturday's early-morning attack are higher than in most such strikes. But targeting schools has become a regular feature of IDF operations in recent weeks, apparently as part of what it says is an ongoing effort to destroy Hamas military infrastructure. Since the beginning of July, more than a dozen schools have been hit, according to unofficial tallies, including at one point four in four days. Each time, in nearly identical statements, the IDF says Hamas is hiding in the schools and using them as command centres to plan and carry out attacks, something Hamas denies. Whatever the case, these buildings are where many displaced Gazans have sought shelter, and they are paying the highest price. Many of the schools were run by the UN before the war, and the UN has strongly condemned the strikes. It is not clear if this incident will impact struggling efforts to agree a ceasefire deal, which were set back by the assassination of the Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran. But Egypt, one of the mediators involved in efforts to reach such a truce, said Israel’s “deliberate killing” of unarmed Palestinians showed that Israel lacked the political will to end the war. Hamas-led gunmen killed about 1,200 people in an attack on Israel on 7 October, taking 251 others back to Gaza as hostages. That attack triggered a massive Israeli military offensive on Gaza and the ongoing war.More than 39,600 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli campaign, according to Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry. CAIRO, Aug 10 (Reuters) - An Israeli airstrike on a Gaza school compound housing displaced families killed around 100 people, the Hamas-run Gaza government said on Saturday, while the Israeli military said it targeted Hamas militants there and cast doubt on the death toll.
Video from the site showed body parts scattered on the ground and more bodies being carried away and covered in blankets on the floor. Empty food tins lay in a puddle of blood and burnt mattresses and a child's doll among the debris.
The Hamas-run media office said in a statement that the strikes hit when people sheltering at the school were performing dawn prayers, leading to many casualties.
"So far, there are more than 93 martyrs, including 11 children and six women. There are unidentified remains," said Palestinian Civil Defence spokesperson, Mahmoud Bassal, in a televised news conference.
Around 6,000 people had been sheltering at the compound, he said. The Gaza health ministry has so far not provided casualty details.
In a statement in Hebrew the Israeli military said the death toll was inflated. It said around 20 Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants were operating at the site.
"The compound, and the mosque that was struck within it, served as an active Hamas and Islamic Jihad military facility," Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani said on X.
"According to an initial review, the numbers published by the Hamas-run Government Information Office in Gaza, do not align with the information held by the IDF (Israel Defence Forces), the precise munitions used, and the accuracy of the strike," Shoshani said.
A military official said that the part of the mosque struck was a men's area where no women or children were present.
"This was verified by intelligence and the strike was carried out using three small, precise munitions which cannot cause the scale of damage that the Palestinians are reporting," the official said.
At the news conference in Gaza City, Bassal said that the strike hit "the upper and ground floors of the school. The upper floor included women and children and the ground floor included people who were praying. They were directly hit."
Israel says Palestinian militant groups embed among Gaza's civilians, operating from within schools, hospitals and designated humanitarian zones - which Hamas and its allies deny.
Hamas said the strike was a horrific crime and a serious escalation. Izzat El-Reshiq, a member of Hamas' political office, said in a statement that the dead did not include a "single combatant."
Tens of thousands of displaced Palestinians have sought shelter in Gaza's schools, most of which have stopped functioning since the start of the war 10 months ago. ……
