Inside the Bandai Namco Store American Dream Mall Grand Opening

On Friday, May 31st, 2024 we attended the grand opening of the very first Bandai Namco store in the United States! This store is located at the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey. A select few, including ourselves, were invited before the store opened to be the very first ones to experience the store, take pictures, record video, and even speak with Bandai staff!

After checking-in we were immediately given press badges along with Bandai Namco swag bags! The swag bags include various products including Nano Blocks, Tamagotchi, keychains and more.

After entering the store we immediately gravitated to the Tamagotchi section which is on the back wall, an ideal location to see as you’re walking by the store. On display is an impressive amount of Tamagotchi’s in their packaging ready for purchase, but also in store displays where you can take a deeper look at the product behind clear plexiglass boxes.

There is an impressive amount of Tamagotchi Original shells on display, and even older shells we have seen on retail shelves in a long time! We noticed that they even had the purple and pink shell which is one of our favorites. You’ll also see the convention exclusive Tamagotchi Originals here, which is incredible since you’re only able to purchase them at select events including Comic-Con.

Then there is a nice display of Tamagotchi Uni, which is where you’ll see the current lineup, and pretty soon even more! It is important to note that they did have the midnight bands in stock too. Lastly there is a comprehensive section of collaboration Tamagotchi Nanos. You name it, they have Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, TinyTAN, Star Wars, Grogu, and many more. Oh yea, they even have the Hug My Tamagotchi sets! How awesome? We we’re in LOVE!

We even got to speak with Asaki Murakami, who works on the Tamagotchi Product Development team at Bandai Namco US. She answered all of our Tamagotchi questions, and we learned so much from her! Asaki is extremely knowledgeable, and she was incredibly friendly. In fact at the event before checking-in, Asaki saw us and immediately asked if we were Tama-Palace before introducing herself. Now that is VIP service!

We also attended the ribbon cutting ceremony where representatives from Bandai Namco cut the ribbon to open the store with the American Dream mall representatives. The American Dream mall team is super excited about this new store! PAC-MAN was also in front of the store dancing around and selecting their 50th anniversary. We must say the line was rather large, and it was consistent all afternoon! Bandai Namco store staff members were giving our free merchandise to those who were waiting in line for general entry.

Lastly, we were able to formerly meet both David Edmundson, Marketing Director at Bandai Namco US, and Justin Lavender, Senior Marketing Manager at Bandai Namco US. You may know them from various events and the Bandai Hangout streams on YouTube. They were really excited to see the Tamagotchi presence at the event and have some awesome ideas for future collaboration, more to come!

Overall the new Bandai Namco store at the American Dream Mall is a huge milestone for Bandai Namco US, and the store is gorgeous! It’s incredible to see such a Tamagotchi selection readily available for purchase on shells here in the United States. We highly suggest checking the store out!

C, D, P, and X if you please.

C is for calling--

I've never had a moment of "passion" in what I'm doing, either as a job/career, or in any of my other interests. I have completed one of those "Choose your way" journals (I'm addicted to Piccadilly--most of their stuff is a blast to fill out), though, and, probably somewhat due to my disabilities and therefore inabilities to work a set schedule, I'm called to writing and art. I don't mean this to be, like, all superiority complex, or anything, but I remember being in elementary school and taking the "write a story" prompts very seriously. By the time in was in Sophomore AP English 10, my teacher personally complimented me for some random original fiction assignment, saying it was particularly above and beyond the usual drivel. I'm not sure I have another book in me, like Battle of Troy, but my NaNo content, my fanfiction, my Piccadilly prompts-- they're all still there to motivate the urge to create.

D is for dust mop-

My bio family was full of neat freaks, and chores like dusting the baseboards (I'll give it a tiny bit of a pass, considering they were white baseboards on white walls), was done almost daily to keep them from accumulating the smallest greyish hue. What stain remover was for which type of flooring was expected to be memorized. As well as what was "safe" to clean the granite countertops (fyi acetone is not in that category).

Yesterday my roommate and I cleaned the whole dog and cat feeding area with a package of Swiffers (which, interestingly enough, we got as swag at Pridefest back in June). I clean the hammy house with water, paper towels, the tiniest bit of Dawn, and a few alcohol wipes on the tough spots. I have moved most of my painting/figurine restoration studio into my bedroom, so, if I find a dust bunny along with that rogue flower stem, I pick it up and bin it. Cleaning is as cleaning does, I suppose? I like that method much better

P is for privilege

Oooooook, I don't want to get into anyone's crawl here, because I have had some fantastic opportunities, which I only had access to because of where I lived during what span of time and who my bio parents associated with. I get that. There was cushioning in my childhood that allowed me to experience sets of circumstances that others cannot access. I apologize in advance if any of this comes across badly; I mean to share, not brag or condemn.

My bio parents had me in "school" (educational daycare) from the time I was 3 years old. Before that I was completely unsocialized; I was raised as a toddler in a commune-like situation where I only knew 2 or 3 adults and 2 or 3 other children.

As far as education goes, in my opinion, it's a coin flip. The neighborhood school has a good rep or a poor one. The teacher is kind and inventive, of they're mean. You love school, or you hate it. College, too. It's either a great experience to learn how to adult, or it's a red flag that no, no, we are not ready for this yet.

I still have that 50-50 mindset about a lot of things. Will it rain tomorrow and make the baby cranky? Will it be warm enough to wear my Black Panther shirt? Will my child have a meltdown because I opened the refrigerator and didn't take anything out specifically for him? Got to keep playing the odds. Somehow it all turns out alright.

X is for xanax

Very convenient when sleepy is needed (or a convenient "out"). I once, quite some time ago, when I was new on the med, I had, like, 1mg, and I slept on the couch in my roommate's father's office for 3 or 4 hours and completely missed the visit (We're all civil with him. Friendly-ish, but you have to keep a guard up for sudden impossible plans and info dumps that may be, erm, inappropriate for the ears of our younger bunch.)

The X is currently the thing I'm prescribed for relaxation, and more often than not, I'll put it crushed through my J tube for a fairly immediate spray-n-squeegee of the walls to take down intrusive thoughts, then I'll nest like a hamster for the sleepy effects, and hopefully be feeling better and ready to resume problem-solving by the time I wake up.

THATS WHAT IM SAYIN!!! FR so many people overlook the suggested age thingies even if it isn't specifically stated

Another thing to consider is Taks Ship stating Zim has decades (big empasis on the plural) of military training and also these lil things I picked out from the unaired episode The Trial (picked from the script and one about elite drafting is an inference based on Tak stating she would have to had waited another 70 yrs to get another chance

Also Zim stated in Nano Zim that he has been piloting ships since BEFORE Dib was born

My main grief with the whole Irken age thing is people stating Zim is 160 as I cannot find any canon source of this (if there is 100% canon source that was put out before ETF I'd love to see yayay) and also people use that to say "He's 160 Irken years so hes 16 human years so its an ok ship"

I think all the time in the series (both comic and Tv and the movie) are based in human years purely for simplicity sake (as it was made for children so it'd be meaningless to incorperate multiple different time type things)

But yeah basically the most major proof that Zim and Tak (and most other Irkens in the series) are AT LEAST 50

I can't make people stop doing a thing but it is swag to spread awareness on this so people can make their own decisions based on canon evidence

Rando rant.. Sometimes I think people forget that Dib is 12, and Zim is well over adult age. While no set age has been necessarily set for Zim, it’s been confirmed from the Episode “Tak: The Hideous New Girl” That both Tak and Zim are over the age of 50, when Tak goes to explain that Zim ruined her life 50 YEARS AGO. I’ve had people argue in the past that ‘well both Zim and Tak were ok with the idea of dating each other- with Zim thinking Tak was a middle aged schoolgirl”. That’s true- and that’s weird in itself. But from an Aliens stand point- he’s only doing it for the mission to better conquer Earth. He also, really can’t love. I’d argue he can only hold empathy for certain beings that he knows- as well as the fact that he only loves the cold unfeeling robot arm he came in contact with when he was a smeet, but whatever- save it for another time. It’s crazy to me how widely accepted ZADR or really any Human x Irken ship is throughout the fandom, and the fact people ignore so many signs is also bad. It disgusts me that i’ve also had people try to argue that mentally; Zim is a child. He’s still well over old man age- and so is Tak too. It still makes the ships wrong. Unfortunately most fans turn a blind eye to this ??? for some reason. anyhow if anyone wants to argue or whatever kiss my SPIKY IRKEN BOOTS and let’s dance because OH BROTHER I know i’m right.
