Plus let's be honest; he did *not* show up in anything fancy. Or in all black as seen in most fanart.#We are at the middle of WWX depression arc. His self-care was 100% because Jin Yanli would be sad if he didn't try to look nice.#Okay okay. Fine I've delayed talking about the kiss long enough.#It is absolutely a core LWJ scene over a WWX scene. Which is made even more fascinating because we don't get his POV.#But we get so many insights! His loss of control and his firmness all contrasted against how he trembles.#And all of that wrapped up in a wonderful self-loathing bow! You go Lan Zhan! You hated yourself so much for this!#WWX is a hilarious narrator for this because he is truly just...baffled by what's going on.#He would push the person away but he doesn't want to hurt their feelings or pride (putting other people first again are we?)#I do understand why this one is divisive for people though. I choose to look at it through a character/humourous lens.#I've seen people defend and admonish this scene as a particularly shitty thing LWJ did and let's be very clear here: It was.#That's why I like it. LWJ did a shitty thing and struggles with it. It's part of what makes him so robust as a character.#It's also fine if you enjoy this scene for it's eroticism. You're not a bad person for that. Just over here thinking about just how much trust is implied in the way Eddie let loose at the bachelor party. And I know this isn't news, that Eddie trusts Buck implicitly, but there's just something so beautiful in the idea that Eddie Diaz—master of control and compartmentalization and putting everyone else first—was not only willing, but eager to let loose with Buck. Even after the safety of the rest of their group was gone, even after Buck had invited dozens of strangers into their space, Eddie didn't hesitate for a moment to let go with Buck because of course Buck is safe and of course he can trust Buck to let go right beside him without judgment.

And there's just something really beautiful in that.

the way i see it, colin has three options for handling the repercussions of kissing michael on the pitch in front of everyone:

gatekeep: by some miracle no one caught the kiss on camera so colin's sexuality is kept between him and any fans who happened to be on the pitch near him. the safest option.

girlboss: keeley gets the pr challenge of a lifetime handling the story of the first active premier league player to come out as gay. rebecca is tall and powerful and intimidating in the press room making it clear that richmond stands behind colin one thousand percent. the most realistic option.

gaslight: straight-up blatantly lying. not because he's ashamed or because he thinks he can actually convince anyone that the kiss didn't happen, but just because he refuses to let it be a big deal. acts like he has no idea what anyone is talking about if asked anything related to his sexuality. he doesn't claim to be straight, mind you, he just pretends to be extremely confused about why they're asking because he never kissed anyone in the middle of a football pitch at the end of an internationally-televised game? when presented with photo and video proof of the kiss he says that was some other richmond player named hughes who wears a number 12 jersey. you don't know him, he goes to another school. the funniest option.

#colin literally standing in front of michaels house unloading a moving truck: i have no idea who that man who kissed that richmond player is #weird that he looks exactly like the guy standing in the doorway behind me! oh well life is full of mysteries #the tabloid reporter who ambushed colin goes home that night and contemplates a change of career #ted lasso #ted lasso spoilers #the more i think about it the less bothered i am by them not addressing the repercussions in the episode #because i love open endings and hate flash-forward endings that give you all the answers (part of why i hated the montage)#and i'm having so much fun imagining all the ways the aftermath of The Kiss could have played out #over 1k

And while it didn't always turn out the way I hoped-#-being messy and earnestly trying to do something different has been my favourite part of art.#There will always be a lot of room to grow - I don't think art and creativity has a ceiling.#I went from doubting that I was even an artist to joining a gamedev team as the lead artist!
