description: there's nothing more annoying than being sick, but thankfully luke is there to make you feel better. this was requested with the prompt #8 "i'll kiss away the pain, baby" from my prompt list. warnings: lots of pet names and FLUFF. and a few curse words. word count: 1,1k. a/n: hey there friends! 🌟 sooooo i finished this instead of doing my uni work, oopsie... and this is my first sickfic, so i hope it's okay! it's short-ish but hopefully you'll like it anyway. i really need a luke to comfort me the next time i'm sick 😥 i'll see u again 🧡

You were never sick. Well, maybe never was a bit of a reach. Once in a while you caught the flu, but this time it was different. Your head was burning and you couldn’t see properly. Fever. 

Thank god the front door opened and Petunia wiggled to the entryway without barking. It meant one thing. Luke was home. You heard him place his keys on the hallway table and take his shoes and jacket off. You squinted your eyes and groaned. Damn, you loved that man, but could he be quieter?

“What’s going on here bubs?” Luke curiously asked as he sat next to you on the living room couch. You had been laying there since the morning. Ever since you had wished a good studio session to him and he went to do what he did best, being creative. 

“Shhh, be more quiet baby”, you whispered as you adjusted your blanket over your legs. 

“Oh, shoot, sorry…are you okay?”, his tone changed and his sweet, quiet words echoed through your head. You shook your head no. 

“Oh no….Do I need to get you anything? Painkillers? Water? We’ve got your favorite lemonade in the freezer if you’d like”. One thing about Luke was that he took the caretaker role naturally. And a bit too serious at times, but you loved him for it. Before him, you didn’t even know men like him existed. 

“Lemonade, please”, you whispered. “Okay, I’ll be here in a sec”, he kissed your temple softly and you closed your eyes.

You woke up to the sound of Petunia barking and Luke cursing the dog off. “Shh, mama’s not well”. You felt Luke’s body next to yours and opened your eyes just to see him looking at you with his worrisome eyes. 

“Hey”, your throat was sore. “What time is it?”.

“It’s 6pm. Didn’t want to wake you up, princess”.

“It’s okay. Am starving. Can we order something?”.

“Of course”. So you ordered some cauliflower soup, ate it whilst watching your comfort tv show and went back to cuddling with Luke on the couch.

“Are you feelin’ any better?”.

“Not really”, you sighed.

“I’ll kiss away the pain, baby”, he peppered light kisses to your cheek, jawline and lastly, your lips. You moved your lips against his, feeling some sort of guilty conscience.

“You do realize you have a chance of gettin’ sick too?”.

“Yes”, Luke looked at you with admiring eyes and a smile that could make even the coldest of hearts melt.

“You’re being reckless”, your voice was hoarse, and a giggle escaped your lips.

“I don’t mind bein’ reckless when it’s with you”, he kissed you again. And just like all of those times before, he was able to capture your heart with a single comment.

“Lemonade?”, he asked and reached for the glass on the coffee table. “Please”, you murmured. After finishing the glass of lemonade, Luke kindly placed it on the table. “Do you want anything else?”, he placed his arm around you. You shuffled closer to him and placed your head on the crook of Luke’s soft neck. “No, this is perfect”.

“Good”, he murmured and caressed your hair.

Luke adjusted the blankets covering your body and fixated his eyes on the tv. And so did you until your eyes couldn’t stay open anymore. So you dozed off again, with Luke softly humming next to you.

"We could leave the Christmas lights up ���til January And this is our place, we make the rules And there’s a dazzling haze, a mysterious way about you dear…"

You woke up again, this time to Luke’s phone ringing. With your eyebrows frowned, you looked at Luke. He mumbled a ‘sorry’ and gave a peck on your hairline. Carefully, he got up from the couch and exited the room. You reached out for your phone on the coffee table. You watched some TikToks on low volume whilst you were petting Petunia, who had been sleeping on the couch for the whole evening. The pupper snuggled closer to you and you placed the phone away, holding her in your arms.

“I see my place has been taken”, Luke entered the living room with an entertained smile plastered on his lips. “That’s what you get when you leave my side”, you pouted.

“Am sorry, baby. It was Michael. He needed an opinion on something. Work stuff. Boring. And he wished you a quick recovery”. You thanked him, and motioned Petunia to move. The dog hopped off lazily from the couch. 

“How’s the head?”.

“It’s okay. I am okay. I’mma go to bed”, you gave Luke a tired smile and stood up with the blankets hovering over your body. You began to walk, but your head started to feel dizzy. So you stopped in your tracks and Luke walked closer to you. 

“You don’t seem okay”, he stood in front of you and placed his hands against the sides of your face.

“Maybe I exaggerated”, you admitted. “Let’s get you to bed then”, he detached his hands, picked you up in his arms and carried you over to your shared bedroom. He dropped you to the side of the bed, lifting the comforter and you got under the covers. You mumbled him a ‘thank you’ and Luke answered with a sympathetic gaze. You studied him, the man of your dreams, and a thankful smile crept upon your face. He stripped off his day clothes, and shuffled next to you. Petunia came into the room with a grunt and waited for either Luke or you to pick her up. 

“Geez, Tunes, will you ever learn?” Luke chuckled, got up from the bed and bent down to pet the dog. He picked her up, and placed the pupper at the foot of the bed. Luke reclaimed his place next to you. “We need to get her the dog stairs”, you insinuated, to which Luke responded with a ‘definitely’. You snuggled into his chest and could feel his steady breathing on your face. He wrapped his arms around you, resting his chin against your head.

“How did I get so lucky with you?”, you hummed and could hear the tempting sound of the dreamworld calling you.

“I am the one who got lucky here, love”, Luke peppered tender kisses on your hair.

“I’ll take care of you if you get sick because of me”, you promised him.

“But what if you are still sick?”, he pecked your head, and tightened his embrace around you.

“Then we might be fucked”.

“Nah, we won’t be. At least we’d still have each other”, he pointed out. You smiled as you closed your eyes. Despite the burning head and sore throat, this was everything you wanted: Luke’s fingers running through your hair and Petunia snoring in the background all while you were falling asleep.

Hey, it's your friendly neighborhood GG watcher here again! Slowly but surely I went through the first season and I'm enjoying myself so much! It's been a while since I enjoyed such a cozy show full of normal, real, human, relatable characters who are all the more likable for being so flawed. I love how real everyone is and how there aren't really evil villains here, except for the rare cameo rich men lol. And even as a shipper rooting for my ship, I still genuinely like other relationships and partners so far despite their problems, I like Max, Chris, I loved Rachel and this feels really nice. Also I don't know if it's an unpopular opinion among the audience, but my favorite relationship might be Lorelai and Emily - there is just so much broken, so much lost, so many differences but still so much love and longing there 😥 (oh and there's no way I can't notice how Luke's devotion and clearly long term pining for Lorelai is so James coded!!!)

I feel very similarly about the love interests, especially in the first season! Max is just meant to be this really cool loveable guy but just not the right guy, you know? I personally love writing those kinds of relationships: the people aren't bad together but there's just something missing and that's nobody's fault, just how life goes! I'm also not too involved in any fandom discourse but I would be shocked if people weren't compelled by the Lorelai/Emily relationship. There is so much going on there. There's one episode coming up for you where they flashback to young Lorelai during pregnancy and it's by far one of my favorite episodes in the show!

I'm nearly done with the 3rd season in my rewatch (viewing has slowed down sooo much due to RL obligations/USA being a dumpster fire). Hope you are continuing to enjoy the show!

With both his trueborn children dead, by law his lands and titles should pass to his eldest grandson, Jacaerys…but since Jace would presumably ascend the Iron Throne after his mother, Princess Rhaenyra urged her good-father to name instead her second son, Lucerys. 

The dead girl had been named Visenya, Princess Rhaenyra announced the next day, when milk of the poppy had blunted the edge of her pain. “She was my only daughter, and they killed her. They stole my crown and murdered my daughter, and they shall answer for it.”

“At what cost?” Princess Rhaenyra wondered. “My sons would be riding three of those dragons, I remind you. And it would not be nine against four. I will not be strong enough to fly for some time yet. And who is to ride Silverwing, Vermithor, and Seasmoke? You, my lord? I hardly think so. It will be five against four, and one of their four will be Vhagar. That is no advantage.”

Princess Rhaenyra forbade that; Joff was but eleven. But Jacaerys was fourteen, Lucerys thirteen; bold and handsome lads, skilled in arms, who had long served as squires. “If you go, you go as messengers, not as knights,” she told them. “You must take no part in any fighting.” Not until both boys had sworn solemn oaths upon a copy of The Seven-Pointed Star would Her Grace consent to using them as her envoys. Septon Eustace claims Rhaenyra had “a mother’s heart” that made her reluctant to risk the lives of her remaining sons. Mushroom alone was present for these councils, however, and the fool insists that Rhaenyra was still so griefsick over the death of her son Lucerys that she absented herself from the war council, giving over her command to the Sea Snake and his wife, Princess Rhaenys.

Her Grace was far from alone. Four living sons remained to her. “My strength and my consolation,” the queen called them.

Lord Corlys went so far as to petition Queen Rhaenyra to remove the taint of bastardy from him and his brother. When Prince Jacaerys added his voice to the request, the queen complied

The Dowager Queen’s words only fanned the fire of Rhaenyra’s wroth. “I will hear no more lies,” she warned. “Speak again of bastardy, and I will have your tongue out.” Or so the tale is told by Septon Eustace. Munkun says the same in his True Telling.

This prospect excited Prince Joffrey. “Let them come,” the boy announced, flush with the arrogance of youth and eager to avenge his fallen brothers. “I will meet them on Tyraxes.” Such talk alarmed his mother. “You will not,” she declared. “You are too young for battle.” Even so, she allowed the boy to remain as the black council discussed how best to deal with the approaching 

 Prince Joffrey, ten-and-three, donned squire’s armor and begged the queen to let him ride to the Dragonpit and mount Tyraxes. “I want to fight for you, Mother, as my brothers did. Let me prove that I am as brave as they were.” His words only deepened Rhaenyra’s resolve, however. “Brave they were, and dead they are, the both of them. My sweet boys.” And once more, Her Grace forbade the prince to leave the castle.

“After him!” Rhaenyra shouted. “All of you, every man, every boy, to horse, to horse, go after him. Bring him back, bring him back, he does not know. My son, my sweet, my son…”

“Mother, forgive me,” Joffrey supposedly said with his last breath.

Rhaenyra herself wrapped her arms about her last living son, Aegon the Younger, clutching him fiercely to her bosom. Nor would she loose her hold upon him…until that dread moment when Syrax fell.

The blood drained from the queen’s cheeks when she beheld the bodies, but young Prince Aegon was the first to realize what they meant. “Mother, flee,” he shouted, but too late.

I wonder if Bail's message was enough for her to tell that Luke and Leia are Vader's kids? I don't think so; does she think they're Obi-Wan's? She captured Leia, knowing Obi-Wan would come. Now she'll do the same with Luke. She still hates Obi-Wan, even if she's lost her chance to kill Vader. If she and Obi-Wan confront near the Lars' farm, how similar will it be to his confrontation with Maul?

I really hope she doesn't die. She is a lot like Trilla, and Trilla didn't have to die either. She's more like Trilla than Maul.

Reva's fate is first and only point of real tension in the show, since we know what happens to all the other main characters. And I wasn't really invested in her fate until this episode, so I'm glad to finally have something to care about, even though I'm upset by her backstory, and I feel pretty cynical that they're just going to keep being awful to her.

It's making me think about my OCs, because I'm awful to a lot of them too... Actually sometimes I intend to make a dark ending but I figure out a hopeful one and do that instead, lol.

I legitimately love every comment I get, which isn't many, but each one makes me squeal! One of my favorite authors left this on my very first fic. "Amazing!! Luke is so annoying, love him, hate him, you've written him SO well in this!! (he's also Right though, and Julie is wrong, chocolate milk is AMAZING). ALSO you already know I love the angst in here... but who on EARTH influenced you to put angst in this happy, lighthearted story...? Hmmmm... 😂🤔"

✏ - Favorite part about writing - hands down, screaming over fics with other authors, whether they're mine, theirs or just one that someone recommended. Knowing what actually went into writing it completely changes the enjoyment level of reading.

😥 - a line that made me cry - I have made it my mission to write FLUFF, to counteract the pure angst that Shelly cranks out. 🤣 But to be honest, I definitely cried a little bit over my first fic in general. Not because it was sad, but just because of the encouragement from the JATP Fic Storming server was so overwhelming.
