A human crewmate, Mia, held a long thin box. It seemed to have paper and plastic peices inside, based on the sound. A puzzle perhaps? A few other crewmates trailed behind them.
"Hey Bob! Wanna join us? We're playing Clue, it's a board game from earth."
Bob nodded and joined the others trailing after Mia. He had no idea what a 'board game' was, but it seemed fun. They eventually all gathered around a table in the cafeteria.
"Okay, so it's a murder mystery and we have to figure out who killed Mr. Body. We're all possible suspe-" Mia started to set up the board and explain, but was cut off by Jli'yan.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, but why do humans have a game centered on murder and distrust?"
"Cause it's fun, thrilling. Good for poker face practice." Kaya answered, shuffling cards. They then nodded towards Mia to continue explaining.

We’re not meant to be, but my heart refuses to listen
Max already found his soulmate, and is in a committed relationship with her. But why is his heart defying fate and pulling him back into George’s orbit?
- A Soulmate AU (GAX)
-fluff, slight angst, happy ending, canon divergent, rated Teen and up
Part I
(Read Part II next) (OR read on ao3)

Max’s eyes drift over to George’s wrist, an intricately inked tree without any leaves peeking out through the long sleeves of his suit. They’re in another post-race press meeting, joined by Oscar, Carlos and Pierre. He’s mostly zoning out, which is easy to do when the reporters finally decide to take pity on him and ask the other racers questions for a change. He fiddles with his own left sleeve, skin cold under his fingertips as he runs them over it. It feels numb, the dark outline of a rose on his skin. It didn’t used to feel that way, once.
It’s not as mortifying as the first few times were, when George catches him staring. It’s both disarming and electrifying when that camera ready smile of George’s softens into something more genuine—reserved—as if Max and him are currently sharing a secret only they’re privy too.
Max can feel the automatic, almost desperate, way his own mouth pulls into a matching grin. And the resulting fit of giggles between them attracts the attention of the other racers and reporters.
It’s easy enough to dodge the question of what’s making the two laugh like a pair of schoolchildren when Pierre butts in with a joke, and it gives George the opportunity to lean in closer to Max, mics distant enough to not pick up the almost airy whisper of George’s voice as he asks, “What were you staring at my hands for, mate?”
Max stiffens at first before quickly relaxing when he registers the teasing undertones to George’s question. He deliberates it, thinks the logical thing to do would be to make an excuse or a quip, make them both laugh at the ordeal. But the curiosity has been gnawing at Max’s psyche long enough that he can’t help the way the question rolls off his tongue, relieved in their freedom.
“Did you find your soulmate yet?”
George seems to freeze at his question, the playful grin on his face tightening. Max immediately feels guilty for asking such a prying question. They’re friends, but they’re not quite close enough to delve into these topics. Questions about each other’s personal lives always stayed on the surface level, never breaching family.
Max might have just crossed a line in their already fragile, somewhat undefined relationship. They’re friends in a broader sense. They never hang out alone together, they barely text each other outside of the usual fire emoji react on each others’ instagram stories and obligatory congratulatory messages. But then there’s also this…tension, Max thinks, that’s always surrounding the air between them. A spark crackling down Max’s spine when they meet eyes across the room or accidentally brush shoulders. The heat of George’s body branding his skin whenever they pat each other’s shoulders in friendly conversations.
There’s that numbness where his own soulmate mark lies, a permanent reminder of Max’s failure to be normal, to be less selfish.
George evokes in him a thrill he’s only gotten before on the podium, above everyone else. The champion of the fucking world.
“I did,” George says, stretching the word out. The emphasis there feels past-tense—as if there’s a but there.
Max wants to press the matter, but knows not to. Only shrugs. “Cool.”
George’s face relaxes, the corners of his eyes softening before he leans in close enough that his breath scorches the shell of Max’s ear. “Didn’t quite work out, though.”
Max holds down the shiver from wracking his body outwardly, but he can feel the goosebumps rising on his flesh.
This knowledge shouldn’t excite him. He’s with his own soulmate, for fuck’s sake.
When George pulls back, corners of his eyes crinkling, Max knows for certain by the battering of his heart that he’s fucked.
Fate already gave him everything he could possibly want. But Max hungers for more.
Trying my hand at a trope i’ve been wanting to write for a long time, and what better ship than Gax! My first foray into writing for f1 rpf so i am very very nervous lol i’m still pretty new to the fandom. Feedback is very very appreciated, i’d love to know your opinions on this if you managed to stumble upon this drabble! I do plan on this having a part two, and potentially more depending on how many it takes to finish the story. Hopefully not too long lol. Hope you enjoyed <33

Just finished the tutorial of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim and ... geez the story is kinda hard to follow so far. First off there's 13 protagonists, which by itself is rough for me, then there's time travel and dimensional travel... and to top it all off the story seems to be told non-linearly.
It's interesting though, so I do plan on continuing it.

.
Nonlinear narrative

elixir
🥺

END
ـ.ـ.ـ.ـ.ـ.ـ.ـ.ـ.ـ.ـ.ـ.ـ.ـ.ـ.ـ.ـ.ـ.ـ
flashback
....

Crafting the First Note: My Autobiography's Incipit
Daily writing promptYou’re writing your autobiography. What’s your opening sentence?View all responses The blank page stares back, an empty canvas awaiting the first brushstroke of my story. But unlike a painting, this autobiography won’t be defined by a single image; it’s a symphony of experiences, a tapestry woven from threads of curiosity, exploration, and lifelong learning. Empathy (2/2)
He does feel the scrapes and soreness of his palms under the gloves the night after that, picking apart and putting back together a receiver in the dim light of a portable lamp beside his base bunk. Lance watches him over his book, Merlin can feel it, but he can't help the hurt tremor no matter how hard he grips the plastic. His thumb slides off the handle of the screwdriver awkwardly and something inside the box cracks on the impact, loudly, making Arthur throw his head up from the paperwork and glare at him. Then, the gaze softens on the edges. Then, Arthur meets his eyes with a lost look and furrowed brows like he's witnessing something he isn't sure how to register and process. Merlin hears a shaky, choked inhale hit his throat even before he himself can register or process it.
He bites down on the screwdriver, looking away and cracking the device back open with his fingers.
The tears keep falling and he keeps feeling them crawl across his face and bury their way into his skin.

or, why my friend and I walked out of the Charles Theatre’s 7pm screening of Star Wars (1977) He’d been talking about it for weeks. The Charles Theatre and the Senator, Baltimore’s cornerstone local movie theaters, both host their own ongoing revival series. That is, every season, the projectionists dust off the old reels of classic films and bring them back to the silver screen. My first big,…

the goal shant be superiority, but rather, awareness of the astronomical power within each of us; recognizing that we need not rely on our modern corporate rhythms, but to focus on creating a space for expectations to leave gracefully
So in a nutshell, spiritual evolution is basically the concept that humanity was put on this earth to grow and evolve spiritually. It's fundamentally rooted in the idea of linear evolution - the notion that the purpose of evolution is to produce "superior" lifeforms. However, evolution only produces lifeforms more adapted to new environments; there is no ultimate goal. Incidentally, religion also evolves to suit new social and material realities, rather than progressing toward any fixed point. So yeah.

2025 reads / storygraph
This Love
contemporary fiction, set over a decade
a stubborn butch lesbian who breaks a lot of hearts and wants to do something important with her life, and a pan guy who’s moved from New York with his mother to escape his abusive father and a bad relationship with a professor - meet in their final year of university and quickly become close friends
they both dream of settling down and having kids - and decide that if they don’t find partners (or even if they do), they’ll do it together
over the years they navigate their relationships with their parents, new relationships, diverging life paths and media careers, and while their lives don’t go to plan, an unconventional family develops out of their strong friendship
#this love#lotte jeffs#aroaessidhe 2025 reads#oughh this was a lot#I’m always searching for more stories centering platonic relationships (esp m/f ones) that give them as much#development and complexity and messiness as romance stories get. this definitely delivers on that!#they’re messy complicated characters with a messy complicated relationship that’s not always easy#but it’s worth it#(I didn’t enjoy reading the parts where they grew apart :( but also I so appreciate a story giving that sort of complex narrative to a frie#It explores a lot of queer experiences and unconventional families.#as someone with very opposite feelings about wanting kids I definitely didn’t relate to that aspect of the narrative so much#but it was interesting to read that perspective.#the sort of. nonlinear bits and twist ending could have been expanded upon a bit more imo#“Since when do you not care about labels; you're obsessed with them. look at your spice rack. you have a label maker” lmao#sapphic books#this is not a very good summary or review LOL
