Hello, my friend!! ❤️ I’m so sorry that you’re going through it 😭 Tbh, I had so much fun at the race (I was also an anxious mess but I digress) that I completely avoided twitter/tumblr etc. to keep up the good vibes last night (and to be able to actually sleep and not stew in my thoughts). ANYWAY!

I wouldn’t say I have all the info yet bc I haven’t watched many post-race interviews or whatever, but my take is basically that…Ferrari fucked up. Once again! 😅 By asking Carlos to let Charles pass with hamilton right on his ass, that left Carlos a sitting duck for hamilton to overtake. If they had pitted like Carlos was begging them to do, it would’ve unleashed Charles and not held him up and wouldn’t have cost Carlos the 4 seconds he lost in the aborted pit attempt. We’ve seen teams pit the one in front a million times to avoid teammates having issues or ruining either one’s race, and yet Ferrari was paralyzed by indecision again.

When it comes to Charles, I just think he’s supremely frustrated with himself and ‘the world’ at the fact that he feels he respects the team by following their orders and his teammate doesn’t. And the key is that it constantly benefits Carlos to do so. Nothing Carlos did in the race would’ve surprised Charles - he did what he’s always done at Ferrari, which is ignore nonsensical strategy calls (it would not have made sense to keep Carlos behind Charles after the second pit stop bc their tyres were in a different window. In fact, it would’ve hindered their results in the end).

All in all, the team has put the drivers in this position again and again, and of course, now everyone is talking about the drivers having beef instead of the team messing up 😭. Anyway, I hope nothing I’ve said here offended anyone - I feel like I’m stating objective facts, but I guess we can’t ever be entirely objective when it comes to our boys…

I truly believe Charles and Carlos will be fine tho - like I said, nothing Carlos did would’ve surprised Charles. And his rant seemed to be a conclusion he’s come to already that he just finally unleashed (whether he should’ve done so on radio is an entirely other thing 😅). He also didn’t have the full picture of Carlos’ race, and will probably agree that they should’ve pitted Carlos when he asked. I have a feeling that, because they know eo so well, as they’ve said many times, they’ll accept one another’s point of view pretty readily. It’s just analyzing how the team could’ve done better that is the big takeaway here.

Q: (Ben Hunt – Autosport) Two questions. First one: George, can you just confirm if you jumped in the fountain or not? I see you've got wet clothes.  GR: No, I really wanted to do it, but I was so cold after the race, I thought, like, I'm going to get super ill and this time last year I actually caught pneumonia and I was ill all the way into mid-February after Vegas and Abu Dhabi. So I was like, you know, in the moment I really wanted to do it, but then I was thinking back to the struggles I had this time 12 months ago because it's such a toll on the body. It's from all the champagne, to be honest, why I was soaking wet.
