thots about my first b/g/3 playthrough especially wrt my character (utter disaster of a druid) spoilers for the whole game obviously

honestly im still Going Thru It (in all meanings of the term) but just in hindsight this playthrough is so funny.

i played as foxfoot, a half wood elf circle of the moon druid.

now that i think back on it, over the course of the playthrough he:

failed to save the shadow-cursed lands - i got everyone at last light killed because isobel 'died' in the battle and got kidnapped so i just decided to roll with it. i thought that ended halsin's questline (i think there may have been a way around it though?) so i never completed it and left halsin behind. like i'm also a DRUID that should be my thing even astarion was like 'ugh typical druid (halsin) they care more about nature than people! er but not you of course' but hey we just had...other pressing things to attend to!! can't be helped

obviously, romancing astarion, letting him bite me and supporting him feeding on animals despite that 1. i can talk to animals and i care about the animals and 2. the undead just being the antithesis of what is natural in the first place. but look. we all have blind spots. it could happen to any of us. and it has, clearly

didnt ascend astarion because i wanted to break the cycle of abuse (good!) and then deciding to free 7000 VAMPIRES because i felt i couldn't justify astarion being allowed to live whilst saying the others should die. i have either doomed baldur's gate, or the ecosystem/races of the underdark. with 7000 VAMPIRES. literally obliterated the natural order in one fell swoop. look, nature will just have to adapt to them okay.

funnily enough i am still somehow able to justify his actions from an in-character standpoint, not that i can put it into words rn. but the really shortened version is: umm he's actually kind of a selfish and self-interested asshole, he's not downright evil enough to leave baldur's gate to get destroyed by a giant brain, but....thats also in no small part just because HE doesn't want to be a mind flayer..............

literally i turned against the emperor, saved orpheus, then when orpheus was like 'welllll one of us is going to have to become illithid' i literally was like 'i'm not becoming a mind flayer.' lmao

then at the end i send wyll and karlach to avernus because 1. foxfoot is literally the first to get fucked up in every battle, he will be a fucking liability in hell besides his virtue of being able to become an owlbear and 2. most importantly my vampire boyfriend just started burning up in the sun im really sorry guys but i have to go Thataway now bye bye!!

and in the end i chose the dialogue option saying astarion and i should go to the underdark to find the vampire spawn. which i was really happy was an option. so for me somehow, it was a really good ending, despite everything being so bittersweet. and umm...irresponsible.

im kind of really curious how insufferable this guy (foxfoot) would be in a dnd campaign.........but tbh, the whole reason i made the choices i did was because i when i got attached to the companions, i just made whatever choices i thought would benefit them (or at least, whatever foxfoot's idea of benefiting them was). so he would actually be a great ally, once his trust is gained. he's just chaotic as fuck also

sooo ruth and i watched the first hxh movie holla

me as soon as we’re done w/the yorknew arc: OH FUCKY ITS ANIME MOVIE TIME

i love anime movies. theyre so often Entertaining As Hell, and also Not Very Good. its a very fun intersection

overall this movie slots pretty easily into that category. it was a good time but nothing revolutionary. which is ok! and that makes sense bc its not canon apparently

this movie was basically the ‘killua and kurapika have Trauma(tm)’ movie lmao

we open w/killua having a trauma dream abt illumi, rehashing the stuff we saw in the hunter exam arc....we see this a few more times in the movie, and it really drives home how killua is still rlly scared of illumi and kinda just goes into a dissociative trauma state whenever illumi is around (even fake doll illumi or dream illumi, in this movie). poor kid :( :(

regrettably tho ruth and i agree that illumis outfit in this movie was pretty sexy

ok that whole beginning part where kurapikas eyes get stolen happens SO fast hvbfhdjshfsk its like ok guess thats the status quo for this movie!

jesus poor kurapika. they cant catch a fuckgin break huh

also that kid was totally the kid that was alluded to by kurapika at the end of the yorknew arc...so i guess that was included in the anime as a setup for this movie?

also apparently that stuff was based off of a short story thing the author did a while ago which is p cool

ruth and i when hisoka shows up: [prolonged annoyed groaning and dismayed yelling]

hisoka literally just shows up to sow chaos and throw around information to stir shit up huh

of COURSE the villain is the former 4th spider thats like. easy choice lmao

it might just be the fansubs but i feel like there were strong implications that hisoka and 4th spider guy fucked bhjdfashfdjnakn

the most unbelievable thing abt this whole thing is that hisoka didnt kill that doll guy lmao

ohhh shit its uvo

OHHH SHIT NOBUNGA AND MACHI....its so bad but i really like the troupe members and when they show up im like !!!!!!!

machi is so cooooool

aughhhh its like....i feel bad for nobunga for having to face down uvo like this....and THEN when pakunoda shows up too :( and nobunga tells her doll ‘rest in peace now’ or something when he cuts her down....oof. but also like theyre evil murderers so im!?! conflicted?!?!

also the shadow beast guys that uvo killed showing up and then proceeding to do LITERALLY NOTHING was kinda hilarious

and damn so technically the troupe is on the same side as the main crew, what with all of them wanting to wreck omokages shit

also omokage looks like sephiroth lmaoooo

ill be honest i barely know what sephiroth looks like but ruth said this and i felt in my bones that its true

ok i gotta talk abt the kurapika backstory stuff bc OUUGHGHGHGHGH my fucking UWUS BITCH!!!!

seeing a bunch of kurta was sad....and seeing baby-er kurapika OUGH and also pairo is sooo cute and him and kurapikas friendship is so pure

kurapika is so different :( theyre like, so much more innocent and excitable....thats so damn sad bro wtf

pairo pulling some slick moves swapping that little potion thing - all while using his blindness as a cover - was so good...no wonder he and kurapika get along so well

also gotta say its even more brutal that one of the main reasons kurapika didnt get Big Murdered w/the rest of the kurta is bc pairo pulled this stunt - if he hadnt, kurapika wouldve failed the test and never would have left

also kurapika saying theyre gonna find someone who can help w/pairos eyes ;_; the similarities w/leorios backstory/motivation makes me die

and seriously im still caught up at how innocent and pure kp is oooof ough

tho still defs the kurapika we know....theyve seemingly always had a temper, what with the reaction to the dudes in the market

like, kurapika did NOT hold back...even after finding out that they were just part of the test! tho i do get it bc they insulted pairo...kurapika’s love for their friends/stalwart need to defend their friends is clearly a big thing

also the market people’s reaction to seeing kp’s red eyes is rlly interesting to me...are the kurta like, known to anybody? or are they more of a vaguely talked-about group that like, ‘probably exists’? or is it that people know abt them but not the red eyes thing? it seems like these people, if any, would know, bc this market is seemingly a day’s travel from where the kurta live....i want more kurta lore bro!!

i big love pairo helping kurapika cheat like that....such an interesting twist, and makes it obvious that theirs is a friendship of equals

anyways i loved that flashback stuff and it just drives home how absolutely fucked up and horribly sad kurapikas whole existence is, especially in this movie w/pairo’s doll being used against them

n e ways back to the non flashback stuff

i love that gon’s super nose returned for this movie omg

im just auhghghghgh gon and killua know each other so well uwu....

aaaand illumi (well, doll illumi) is back to fuck shit up for poor killua

ugh it still gets me how clearly terrified of illumi killua is...we dont really see him act like this any other time :( and the fact that doll-illumi was able to scare killua enough to get him to run away and leave gon behind (albeit briefly) was oof

gon jumping in front of killua and getting his eyes stolen instead....baby boyyyy oughhh

also can i just say thank fuck they didnt replace illumis eyes w/gons bc THAT wouldve been some serious nightmare fuel lmao

cant believe killua then ran away again and walked emo-ly on the train tracks

and THEN he saw a train coming and was like oh well :( guess ill die :/ JESUS KID

but gon w/his Big Sniff Powers comes to the rescue!!

it was so cute how gon told killua that killua didnt run and abandon him - they were working together to fight :’) gon understands killua so well

i love how the squad then squads up to fight omokage...with half of them being blind lmao

and in the half that isnt blind is leorio, who STILL doesnt know nen, and literally brings a knife to a nen fight

i totally saw the whole ‘retz is a doll and her older brother is omokage, and retz actually died a while ago’ thing coming lol but still, not bad

all omokage does is talk abt the beauty of his dolls or w/e like ENOUGH bro

kurapika fighting pairo and killua fighting illumi (AGAIN) was all so fucked up they shouldve switched opponents for less trauma oof

and poor leorio is literally no help vhhvdijfhjbashkj he just gets throw around this whole time

kurapikas fight against pairo was sad bc it was such a fucked up situation...kp did gr8 tho, i liked them saying that this isnt the real pairo, cause pairo would never say/do these things. still and extremely sucky situation to be in!

meanwhile its the gon and killua vs doll-illumi rematch...and this illumi is like, a version of illumi drawn from killuas mind/heart (or something idk, it was kinda glossed over which i understand), which means that hes extra scary and focused on telling killua how much hes just a mindless killing machine who cant have friends

but luckily we have gon here to help snap killua out of his trauma haze, which certaintly wasnt the case at the hunter exam - so it was kinda nice to see how things went w/gon around :’) they work so well together oughhhhh....and they love each other so much broo gay preteen love real

hisoka just fuckgin materializing in the house place to help sow more chaos....unbelievable

general thots:

so this was very much an Anime Movie, in that they cant like, advance to plot or develop the characters much, bc its a movie. and this one is non canon

it was enjoyable but i do feel like it was much more typical shounen then hxh usually is...like, i feel like this was made by the same people who make like, the naruto movies or w/e, and w/the same sort of approach/attitude

this isnt necessarily bad - i LIKE shounen for a reason - but it was a bit noticeable bc it wasnt quite as smart as hxh is usually, and it rehashed a lot of stuff weve already seen in this show itself

but still i think it did a good job w/what it had, and it had some good angst, and everyone was very gay which is good

the art style was SLIGHTLY wack but it wasnt as bad as i thought itd be

overall a fun time like most anime movies. didnt reinvent the wheel but i had a good time. im excited for the greed island arc, and im also disproportionately excited to watch the hxh musical bc that is a thing that exists and i MUST see it asap bc that sounds like the kind of hilarious wackiness that appeals to me specifically

Character Configuration

Hi! I have seen a lot of post with tips to help you writters make better stories and characters, even though i dont write i still find it fun, its just my energy and focus goes for drawing and animating rather than writting, but still on University i have two semester of writting script where we create characters, whole stories from 0 and cool stuff. My boyfriend study to write movies -and any type of visual content- so i have learn a lot from him too.

They teach us a basic way to create characters that we call 'torta de cuatro', i guess that it would be something like cake of four. Its really simple, when you are creating a character you have to think of four aspects of them, these would be:

Their social life: how they interact with others, how is they life after school, job, etc, how they are socially, are they shy? Are they extrovert? They love having an active social life or prefer to be more quiet? Do they make friends easily? Or have just a few. How are they when hanging around with their friends and how they try to make friends, if they do not try to make them, then why? Did they have a friend that traition them? Or what. Things like that.

Their family: how is the family of the character, it has siblings? They get along well? Or they hate each other. Did the mom die? Alright, then why? And how that affect your character? It has daddy issues? Fine, but why? Their parents care about them? Are they overprotective? Or really dont care and only pay attention to their personal issues.

Laboral aspect: do they work? On what? Its happy with that? Or wish to have another job. If thats the case, what job is their dream job? And why that one and why it doesnt have it yet, because cant find it? Because it feels like it will be bad on it? How is the economy of that character? You know, like rich? Has trouble to make it trhough the whole month? Or isnt poor but isnt the best neither? You character doesnt work because is still on high school or in university? Okey, then write about it, how are their grades? Goes to class consistentily? Or it does skip them? And why.

Personal aspect: how they are when they are alone, in they privacy, like they true-self. When they doesnt have to put a mask on their faces to show it to somebody else, how are they.

A good example to analyze would be Helga Pataki, she is really rude when it comes to her social life, really dominating person, a little bit bully with Arnold. Her best -probably only one- friend, the one that goes everywhere with her is Phoebe, but still the rest of the group know how rude she is so they are kind of used to it so they still play with her but ignore it when she start to being annoying.

She has a sister which she doesnt like, and they dont get along for more that her sister try to make her love her, Helga just doesnt like Olga, but why? Because their parents freaking LOVE Olga, and everything that Helga does their parents ignore it because they only have eyes for Olga, the 'perfect daughter'. She almost doesnt see her dad since he is always busy working on the company and he is pretty bad with her mom too, remember when her mom wanted to work but the dad says no because she is a woman and cant work because of that? Her mom has show in some chapters to have problems with alcohol too, depression and keep fighting to keep herself conscious. A pretty disfunctional family.

Helga doesnt work since she is still on school, but we know that she is pretty average when it comes to grades, she isnt exceptionally great and neither the worst. Maybe we could attribute that to the fact that it doesnt matter how well she do something for school Olga definetily made it better? Maybe she is lacking of incentive from her parents? She is just makig trhough it.

Personal aspect! I love Helga when she is alone, she is another person, she is sensitive, she does care of people -particulary Arnold-. So we have this character that is show to the people around her as rude and doesnt care about what happen to the people around, but she does! She cares, especially about Arnold, she always try to help him in the shadows, she worries A LOT for him, i mean, THE GIRL HAS A FUCKING ALTAR FOR ARNOLD WITH A STATUE MADE OF CHEWING GUM, HOW MANY OF THOSE SHE CHEW TO MADE THAT? xD and why she has such devotion for him? Because he was the first to care of her, when they were really tiny and arnold say to her that he liked the pink bow on her hair, the boy made her a sweet compliment and share his umbrella with her while her parents didnt give a fuck about her, so of course she will be happy when a boy with a funny head shape treated her better than her own parents.

Im sorry, my fingers slipped xD but i think you get the point! EVERYTHING on a character has a reason to be, no one is mean or 'evil' just because of reason, they have a reason to be like that. So when you do your cake of four for your character you will have a guide of how your character will react to situations that they are in.

Another thing that helps and its good its to make a backstory since the minute they were born to the exact time where the sory begins. That will help you to create more complete characters since you are writing their whole life. It will help you to think how your character reacts to the different situations that you are putting the poor boy/girl on it. You have a character that its old, wise and powerful? Like Gandalf, Dumbledore, Netero (hunter x hunter)? Great! You have a lot of backstory to write, why and how they become that wise? Probably they went through a lot of things to become that.

Your antagonist that is 'evil'? Snape for example? We all know that he wasnt evil at all and where nothing but a cinnamon roll but the things that happened to him made him take the role of the villain to protect Harry. Meruem? The king of chimera ants? Yes, he is an overpowerful character since his birth, but still there's a reason of why he was born with such power and because of that he saw humans as weaks, fragiles and not worthy until he meets Komugi and have a beautiful arc on his character. Killua? The one that at first people sense him as dangerous since his family history? But we learn inmediatily that he is just a kid trying to enjoy his childhood as a normal kid, and Gon is the one that teachs him that and thats why he is SO loyal to Gon, always caring and protecting him? If you see the version of 1999 you will see that at first Killua its really this dark kid who didnt laugh, he doesnt feel like just a kid until he began to spend time with Gon and discover that he can enjoy and play like a kid too. And dont make me start with Zuko because i love him so much and if i keep going we will never see the end of it xD

The point is configurate correctly your characters and it will be easier to imagine how they will react and it will actually make sense to the lector. I hope this help you to something, i keep seing tips for writters and wanted to share something if its worth for you. Keep writting people, you all are amazing.

Gay Scale of Pop Punk™️

Palaye Royale: 1. On the scale, probably not super gay but definitely thinks about shirtless Brad Pitt a fucking lot, but like doesn’t everyone? Right? Probably says “I’m not gay, but if I was...”. Like a straight person could create that aesthetic out of pirates, red and My Chemical Romance. Takes Queer Eye advice to heart. Could be a 5 if they admitted they’re not straight.

Panic! At the Disco: 2. Not as gay as they claim. They used to be super gay. Basically Ryan was the gayest one and everyone else just went with it. Probably loves Fight Club, but not because of Brad Pitt. It gave them a gun kink which they hide by dressing like circus freaks. Chuck Palahniuk is their gay culture. Has been through every type of phase. Loves the 70’s and just wants a chill weed hippie vibe but needs to stay relevant. Watched Rocky Horror once. Now they're just sad and alone and trying not to OD. Partying and cheap suits.

Arctic Monkeys: 3. Not really gay but somewhat bicurious. Edgy but now he looks like the old dude from Glow. Seriously considered the 70’s weed dealer look for like a week. Makes shit up for views. Dances like a dad. Clock Work Orange gays, it gave Alex Turner a crime kink which he hides through alternating leather, denim and suits

All Time Low: 3.5. Not inherently gay but also the weird place where bisexuality and Bi-curiosity start to be the same. Supports the hell out of lesbians. “Hold my beer while I jump off the roof” culture. Hurt deeply and drowning but in a chill way. Still calls things “Gucci”, doesn’t know what the “Gucci gang” is but still uses it even though Urban Dictionary didn’t tell them. #Squad

Weezer: 4. Bi culture. Sad weed smoking and being awkward. Whoops my girlfriends a lesbian. The end part of Undone when they're both singing two different parts of a song that has no definable pronouns. Also, rarely any pronouns in their songs. Thank God For Girls is solidarity

Metro Station: 4.5. She Likes Girls is so good and they're true allies. Shake It goes super hard y'all are just cowards

The 1975: 5. Doesn't define their sexuality but very clearly loves girls. "One Direction paved the way for the Beatles". Their goal in life is Harry Styles. Palaye could very clearly beat them out if they just admitted Dr. Frank N Furter turned them on

Black Kids: 6. Im Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You was so much solidarity between her and her brother. Seriously. It was in Jennifer’s Body too. Plus it was 80's synth pop

Cobra Starship, The Academy Is... and Gym Class Heroes: 7. Yeah like a fuckin straight person wrote Snakes On A Plane. Hot Mess is gay culture and so is One Day Robots Will Cry,, Gabe Saporta is doing so good now,, baby boy and evil. Travie McCoy is such a good guy I fucking trust him so much he can do anything. William Beckett? Y'all even heard His Guy Friday, plus that song he did with Ryan Ross? Him as a person tho? Most non-triumphant, he can’t sit with us

Fall Out Boy: 8. Definitely gay. Has admitted they’re bi, but still very attached to one romance for 10 years. Parties but sad parties you reminisce about for a long time. Probably would not be wearing a shirt or pants if those were not required to enter Pizza Hut. Ate weed and eyeliner one time. Pretends to be a cool chic edgy person, but in reality still a gremlin.

Paramore: 9. Sad, misses the 80's back when they weren't alive. Sad lesbian and sad queer friends culture. Misery Business is a boyfriend stealing anthem for everyone. Just wants things to be okay. Bubble gum, neon punk culture at its core. Futch culture for guys, gals and nb pals. Never had a solid hair color for more than 10 minutes. A mess but a cool funky superb one. If Tan France would wear it then it’s good enough for them.

My Chemical Romance: 10. Red eye shadow is for the gays. There is no way a straight person has those kinks, that aesthetic and fucking wrote those albums. Gerard Way probably went down on Bert McCracken and hates his dad. The Used is also in this category, but that’s more of a horny sad gay, rather than a muderous one

Green Day: 11. Y'all I shouldn't even have to explain. Green Day is gay as hell just like everything else Billie Joe Armstrong does. Also, piss kinks. Billie is a dumb butch and his wife is such a fucking goddess. Dookie is bi culture. Has 40 different versions of something but only uses the same one.

The Killers: 12. Transcends the scale, but keeps it on the down low. Has had so many failed straight relationships even tho they know they’re gay, they just can’t let go of the past. It’s laughable to think Andy You’re A Star, Bones, Mr. Brightside, Somebody Told Me and Where the White Boys Dance are heterosexual in anyway. Falls in love with the worst people. Makes bad decisions about who they fall for and fully accepts it. Had one dramatic thing going that ended in prison and won’t admit that they haven’t loved since. Is so tired, and just wants to stop running but can’t commit to anything. Knows how every past relationship failed and exactly how they could fix it but that’s not happening ever. The American Dream ruined them too, but in a different way where they’ve always been disappointed and hollow.
