It’s very upsetting to find out that people really say that NICU is a “soft” job… like it must be people who’ve never had a NICU baby or have kids in general bc wdym it’s soft? NICU nurses are literally the most gracious nurses to those babies. (Idk bout IRL tho) Only “NICU” nurse that was rude to use the entire time my son was in the NICU was a L&D nurse who was there for whatever reason.
How is it soft, I really don’t understand? Some of these babies don’t always make it out of the NICU… seeing BABIES pass would literally break my heart especially if they’ve been fighting so hard to stay alive. Feeding tubes, oxygen tube, dialysis, ECMO, even jaundice.. being a preemie! My god??? Caring for babies that are not fully developed is hard too! My fucking god??
I was very grateful my son barely had an issues while in the NICU but my heart still goes out to all the parents who had their babies stay in the hospital for longer than a week.
I fucking hate that people really think some jobs are soft or not even needed. Theres ALWAYS a need for certain jobs, especially for those who don’t want to fucking do those jobs.
Anyone who says NICU nurses are soft or lame… ya were no longer friends or will never be friends.

On December 25th 2022 at 10:14 PM, @jainasolo1994 and I got to meet our baby girl! Her name is Maggie and we're in love with her. She's quite premature and has been in the NICU since she was born and will be there a bit longer, but she's doing really well! She's off of her oxygen supports now, and she's half a kilo above her birthweight of 1260g (2lbs 12oz for Americans), she's at 1757g (3lbs 14oz) now, so she could easily reach 4lbs this weekend! She's super active and likes to try to pull out her feeding tube and loved pulling off her oxygen masks when she had those. The nurses refer to her as "feisty," "wild," and "a sparkplug," which is adorable. She hates being cold, and having her diaper changed; she ends up crying and sounds like a tiny angry sheep. She loves bathtime and cuddles, and loves trying to latch onto me so we are working on getting her into oral feeding.
Anyways, I just realized I hadn't announced her here yet, and I wanted to 🥺
I was in the hospital for a month prior to her birth, and about a week after, landing me at a total of 33 days as an inpatient. I had pre-eclampsia and it turned into HELLP syndrome, which sucked.
But its all good because we have Maggie now and we love her💖

I've been unnatural since the day I was born! I will continue to be so as long as I live!
People act like voice training is unnatural or meant as a “trick” and then I get to sit in my office and listen to every single one of my cis coworkers change their pitch of their voice up or down whenever they’re on the phone

Pregnancy Rox: The Finale
Postpartum Update Howdy Folks! It has been a wild 4 months since my last post. So here’s the tea… If I recall correctly, the last time I posted was a few days before my emergency c-section. Listen, I already know what you’re thinking… I just KNEW I was going to make it to 34 weeks gestation. However, my little sweet face decided that she wanted to be the first of my children to wish me a happy…

Not to brag or nothing (lie) but I made noodles tonight and the boys keep telling their game night buddy that like, this is why whenever him and the other game night guy offer to pick up takeout on the way over, they keep telling them "But Briar offered to cook!" My downstairs roommate keeps being like "I eat like this almost every night"
Feels really nice.

“A Nigerian mom found out the hard way that jaundice is still a dangerous disease in Africa—but now she’s putting an end to the infant disease with her new tech startup, making solar-powered cribs.
After her traumatic experience with jaundice as a new mother, Virtue Oboro pivoted 180° in her professional life, in an effort to help prevent the terrifying situation from befalling other moms.
Oboro’s son, Tombra, was just 48 hours old when he had to be rushed to the NICU, suffering from a build-up of bilirubin, which causes yellow skin and can lead to permanent damage or even death.
The treatment is fairly simple... blue-light phototherapy.
Virtue’s hospital had no phototherapy devices, so Tombra had to receive a risky emergency blood transfusion. Her son would make a full recovery, but Virtue was changed by the experience.
“I felt like some of the things I experienced could have been avoided,” the visual designer told CNN. “I thought, is there something I could do to make the pain less for the babies and the mothers?”
What could a visual designer do? She designed the Crib A’Glow and named her new company Tiny Hearts.
The portable, deployable phototherapy unit is powered by the sun, and costs one-sixth the price of a normal phototherapy crib—and is manufactured in her homeland of Nigeria.
Virtue’s husband had some experience working with solar panels before, so he lent a hand to the visual designer, who was busy navigating the unknown waters of a new profession. She worked with a pediatrician through the design process to ensure all the details would benefit the tiny babies.
Two years ago, Crib A’Glow picked up a $50,000 grant from Johnson & Johnson through the Africa Innovation Challenge, and the Crib A’Glow can now be found in 500 hospitals across Nigeria and neighboring Ghana. Already it has been used on 300,000 babies.
Virtue, who has also become a 2022 awardee for The Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation, says a further 200,000 babies were saved from jaundice by deploying the cribs to rural areas—no hospitals or electricity needed.” -via Good News Network, 3/9/22

okay so my memory is like the opposite of Andrew's and even though I read about this like 2 weeks ago I don't remember anything so just bare with me okay? okay
so Andrew and Aaron were given up a couple weeks after birth right? maybe Tilda decided she couldn't do it after the fact, but what if they were in the NICU? like they're 5'0" as adults, identical twins which means their cell split in half so what if they were born just super small and had to sit there? do you think the nurses in the NICU seperated them, or put them together to better their chances of survival? (did Tilda care if they survived?) were they doomed from the start, seperated at birth, or were they at least given a chance to be brothers before Tilda went and fucked it up?

(ER AU)
Ok so I was stuck on either having ハンジ as an MD for ER/ED, ICU, or like infectious disease…but tbh their horrible work habits, love for action, and messy habits are ER lol.
リヴァイ is the only paramedic that actually shows up on time and can start an IV on anything, anywhere.
