(hope I'm not too late !) Shade wasn't altogether sure of what to give Cricket for his birthday, but she wanted to give him something. so she took some time to collect some of the more interesting creepy crawlies that she knew inhabited the shadow-cursed lands - certainly they were odd specimens, being able to survive in the darkness ? some even glowed ! - and carefully housed them in an old glass case she had scavenged and dressed to accommodate the new insectoid inhabitants, which she left for him in his tent, accompanied with a note: "I'm not good at birthday gifts, but I know you like bugs, so I thought you might enjoy some of the bugs from around the shadow-cursed lands! happy birthday, I hope this is okay. -shade"

       He only took a break to get himself a sip of water.      Cricket tended to forget drinking in general. One could call him a walking cactus   —   which was not too far from the truth. Living in a desert made him the least liquid-demanding member of their group.

Surprise awaited him when he took off his glasses in the comfortable dim light of his own tent. A jar he would not remember putting there. And it was buzzing with life.

The note attached was quickly plucked off, reading over it a few times to take in as much information   —   to not miss anything.

The Thri-Kreen did like bugs. They were kin, in a distant way. Albeit not specifically the inhabitants of these Cursed Lands, it left enough motivation to study them. Not only new cultures interested the druid. This vastly different flora  &  fauna did too.

One confident smile graced the half-insect's lips while lifting the present   —   the glass with little bugs, scuttling along the surface with greeting chitters.

   Shade, you truly are a gem . . .

Courtney ran her finger along the edge of her mug self-consciously, feeling a little guilty for talking about her and Oscar’s business behind his back; but sometimes it felt like she had no one to talk to who wasn’t biased toward his point of view, and everyone needed someone they could vent to now and then. Frankie was a kind and understanding listener, despite being little more than an acquaintance, and though she seemed reluctant to talk about herself in return, Courtney hoped that’d change if they became friends. Courtney: I don’t know.. he seems to be doing okay but it’s just scary to think about, y’know? We have so much to lose this time around. Ivan: I’d love t’join in on the girl talk but we’ve gotta bounce. Courtney: Hah, next time. Ivan: Y’brought the car, right? Courtney: Yeah. Ivan: Y’need a lift, Frankie? Frankie: Oh-.. no, no. Ivan: Y’sure? Frankie: No, it’s fine. Ivan: Alright, catch y’later. Sawyer: Ugh, mooooom.. why’d you say no?! It takes forever to walk home. Frankie: Psh, it’s good exercise. Sawyer: It’s like you want my legs to drop off-.. I’m not a lizard, they won’t grow back!

Hey there! I’m new to the fandom — just watched S1 of AMC:IWTV and pushed myself through nine of the VC books — and 2 quick questions:

1) did virginiaisforvampires change their URL? None of the links I’m seeing on your posts seem to work, at least for me

2) was it you that made that one post about Loustat’s possible eventual “happy ending” in the show, in context of Anne closing character arcs in the Prince Lestat era books? Or was it one of your mutuals? I’m looking for it and I can’t find it lol

Re 1) Ahhhh... not that I'm aware of? https://www.tumblr.com/virginiaisforvampires works for me... Which links do you mean though? Not all of them lead to her blog (though some do^^).

And re 2) Could have been me, could have been her re the "happy ending". I definitely wrote about it at some point :) (but I haven't tagged it explicitly either, sorry^^).

Anne gave us a huge gift closing these long, 50 year old character arcs, imho. Because both Lestat and Louis arrive at acceptance at the end - with each other, but separately as well. They are at peace with who they are and who they share their life with (which is not only the other, but all the other vampires, too).

The show foreshadowed the dance in "Blood Communion" with the dancing in season 1, the way they danced was explicitly described. Jacob called them "endgame", and well, if we get there... then we will get our happy ending.

It will be a hard one, and earned one, but I for one am looking forward to it. Eventually :)))
