Hey there! I’m new to the fandom — just watched S1 of AMC:IWTV and pushed myself through nine of the VC books — and 2 quick questions:

1) did virginiaisforvampires change their URL? None of the links I’m seeing on your posts seem to work, at least for me

2) was it you that made that one post about Loustat’s possible eventual “happy ending” in the show, in context of Anne closing character arcs in the Prince Lestat era books? Or was it one of your mutuals? I’m looking for it and I can’t find it lol

Re 1) Ahhhh... not that I'm aware of? https://www.tumblr.com/virginiaisforvampires works for me... Which links do you mean though? Not all of them lead to her blog (though some do^^).

And re 2) Could have been me, could have been her re the "happy ending". I definitely wrote about it at some point :) (but I haven't tagged it explicitly either, sorry^^).

Anne gave us a huge gift closing these long, 50 year old character arcs, imho. Because both Lestat and Louis arrive at acceptance at the end - with each other, but separately as well. They are at peace with who they are and who they share their life with (which is not only the other, but all the other vampires, too).

The show foreshadowed the dance in "Blood Communion" with the dancing in season 1, the way they danced was explicitly described. Jacob called them "endgame", and well, if we get there... then we will get our happy ending.

It will be a hard one, and earned one, but I for one am looking forward to it. Eventually :)))

Y’all, the end of Blood Communion …

Visibility, significance, recognition! All that I’d ever wanted when I took to the rock music stage, all that I’d ever wanted as a boy heading to Paris with a head full of dreams, all I’d ever wanted I now had right here with my brothers and sisters! I had all that I had ever hoped for, and I had it here and now in this place and amongst my own people.

The old human story simply did not matter. I had this, I had this moment, I had this recognition, and this visibility and this significance. And how could I ask for anything more? How could I look from right to left, at immortals who had witnessed all the epochs of recorded history, and want more than this? How could I gaze at immortals who’d been drawn to this very spot by something more immense than they’d ever witnessed, and long for more than the recognition they were now giving me?

The victory of our own tribe to embrace one another, and let go of the hatred that had divided us for centuries, was my victory.

I know how people feel about the Prince Lestat era, and Lestat’s Vampire Court being hokey and stupid or whatever, but for me, this right here redeems everything.

The fact that they finally laid the groundwork for community among creatures who we thought couldn’t have community? The long, long arc of Lestat’s life, and the lives of so many other vampires, bending ultimately towards love and joy?

Look, I like my share of angst, but at the end of the day, this is what I’m here for.
