Curious what you think about NDE's? The whole law of assumption/neville postings on Tumblr/reddit don't sit well with me 100%, but many NDE survivors have talked about learning about the importance of thoughts/beliefs when it comes to outcomes in life. It's what makes me think that there is SOME truth to the teachings, but there is a large chunk of it that is inaccurate.
NDEs are sure a thing that happens to people, and there's no doubt that they are often incredibly profound. That's definitely a thing you'll notice when examining folks' NDE stories.
That said, once you start examining the specific details and start comparing experiences against each other, it quickly becomes clear that the experiences are rooted in values and ideas familiar to them. Like it's not uncommon to hear modern Christians describe Heaven with Greco-Roman architecture - an unconscious cultural bias we have due to European depictions of Heaven. You almost certainly won't hear about fire in Heaven, despite that being mentioned in a number of ancient sources. And when they meet Jesus, Jesus inevitably says something that jives with their personal comprehension of Christianity.
And then once you get into NDEs outside of Christianity, things get even more diverse; and basically, the only thing you can really conclude here is that NDEs happen, and they relate to people's cultural expectations. Like, they definitely defy what we've typically expected the brain to be capable of in the past, but that doesn't necessarily imply an afterlife or the indestructibility of the soul - it could just mean that we've underestimated the brain.

Plutarch (fragment 178) compares the experience of the soul at death to mystic initiation: he describes various agitated experiences (much like those of Pentheus) that are transformed into bliss by the appearance of a wonderful light in the darkness. This passage shows that the Greeks were aware of the similarity between mystic initiation and near-death experiences. Extensive research into near-death experiences over the last thirty years has revealed a core of such experiences that is found in very different cultures. A frequent element in this core is the ‘being of light’, a wonderful light that transforms anxiety into bliss and is also somehow a person. The person’s identity differs according to the culture: for a Christian, for instance, the person may acquire the identity of Jesus. The light described by Plutarch is not a person, but in our passage of Bacchae it is twice identified with Dionysos.

1:30am, now I can post weird shit bc less of you are online lmao
on god I have the most intense & insane built-in survival mechanism I've ever encountered in anyone. like to a point where I've /repeatedly/ violently pulled myself to consciousness in situations where I really should not have survived, or at the very least should not have been capable of ripping myself out of an unconscious state. AND rapidly reorient myself and re-engage with my surroundings like nothing happened.
when I first started noticing it, I dismissed it as being in my head, but multiple other people have witnessed the phenomenon at this point. people with as much experience in life-or-death situations as I have, if not more. and ALL of them have said the same things I'm saying: it's fucking weird and not how shit usually works
and this has always been the case, even at times where I was ambivalent about the idea of dying or even actively wanting to die. however, it has gotten stronger as i've gotten older. I understand that it's almost definitely a fundamentally adrenaline-based response, but that doesn't change the fact that it's occurred in medically extraordinary situations multiple times. I've seen people die from less on more than one occasion. it's fucking surreal
anyone else got a really wacky super power? lol

  Spiritual Experiences and Mystical Experiences of Heaven, OOBEs & NDEs, and the Rule About Not Sharing One's Inner Experiences in Sant Mat - Spiritual Awakening Radio Podcast
Tumblr media
Today... explaining the rule in Sant Mat about not sharing one's own personal inner experiences with others - why is that? It's all about keeping experiences private, authentic, free from ego and free from outside contamination or mental phantasmagoria, also free of pressures and expectations about what one "should" be experiencing. Everyone is at their own unique level or place in Inner Space. We need only to focus on our own inward journey, stay in touch with That, and keep it real, keep it 100!

Seek To See God Now - Liberation During This Life - Mystic-Poem of Sant Tulsi Sahib
"In this life, the concept of salvation all describe;
To meet the Lord by dying while living [meditation], none discloses.
They all speak of the goal of salvation after death;
How to attain it while living, no one says.
Were they to reveal the method of achieving release while living,
Then alone would Tulsi be convinced of their words.
Who speaks, after seeing with their own eyes,
and teach the method of salvation during life,
They are of the stage and stature of Saints,
for they reveal the quintessence of the soul."
The Expanse Above, from Saint Isaac the Syrian's Spiritual Works, Translated by Mary Hansbury:
"By stillness of the body and ceasing from this world, solitaries imagine the true stillness and the withdrawal from nature which will occur at the end of the corporeal world. By means of the mind, the solitaries are united with the world of the Spirit. By means of meditation, they are involved in the expanse above."
Awaken to the Resplendent Light Within You - Sant Tulsi Sahib of Hathras, Mystic Verses from the Book of Shabdavali:
"Listen, O swan-soul, ascend to your true abode.
So says the Master again and again.
You do not pay attention to his words;
O finish your sorrows and joys and transmigrations.
If the deluded soul were to unite with her Source,
Never again would she be encumbered by body and mind.
From the Source of the Divine Ocean opens a Portal to the Light;
O awaken that resplendent Light within you."

It's difficult to sustain doubt in your own consciousness once you've had a near-death experience and observed yourself from the ER ceiling as your body lies on a gurney, your EEG flatlined, and the code blue team struggles to revive you.
In a flash of clarity, all of these CogSci arguments are suddenly laid bare as pilpul. Despite having no brain activity, you are still aware of what is happening - as a matter of fact, you are more sharply aware than you've ever experienced before in your life. And after you have been revived you can remember the experience, despite the fact that your brain wasn't working during the NDE.
There are literally thousands of case studies documenting the NDE phenomenon. It is a medical fact that these patients were not capable of brain activity, so as such NDEs constitute an edge case that must be accounted for in any model of hard consciousness.
In science, all models are wrong. Some models are useful.
That bears repeating.
I have a certain amount of admiration for cognitive scientists who are prepared to cut the Gordian knot of defining what a mind is and simply deny the validity of their own subjective experience. I mean, obviously someone who looks you in the eye and says "I'm not actually conscious, I just behave as though I am" is full of shit, but you've gotta respect the audacity.

Losing the fear of death
Tumblr media
Death is not something that many people want to think about. However, death is a part of living a human life. At least, our current level of science and technology acknowledges that death is inevitable.
Is death something to be afraid of or is death something to look forward to? The answer may depend on who you talk to.
Aside from the obvious religious answers, what body of information exists that can help us to approach this question with some degree of logical thinking? When exacting scientific evidence is lacking, our only option is to consider the anecdotal or subjective experiences that others have had.
Fortunately, there is a body of information that leads to the formation of some interesting thoughts on the subject of death and what it is or what it might lead to. You can find this resource at near-death.com.
Each person is encouraged to draw their own conclusions. Yet, I would like to share some of my thoughts and opinions on the matter.
Many people who have a near-death experience have strikingly similar experiences. There are some who report a horrible experience but the majority report more positive experiences.
Some may have gone to a terrible place, while others seem to leave the pain of the mortal body behind and experience an interesting journey before they revive. Both kinds of experiences have been recorded.
One striking similarity is the ‘life review’ process. This has been reported as a review of one’s entire life where each event is played out before your eyes. People that have experienced this process say that you suddenly become aware of how you affected the people you interacted with during your life.
If you did something that caused them pain, you may become cognizant of those feelings as if you were experiencing them yourself. People report that they feel regretful. The experience doesn’t just extend to that one person, but the effects are like a ripple in a pond and you see how that ripple affects multiple people.
On the other hand, if you did something good you experience that as well. It does appear that the good things involve acting from compassion. For example, one lady said the most significant act of her entire life occurred when she was a little girl. She cupped a flower in her hand and gave it ‘unconditional love’.
Others don’t experience an in depth life review, theirs lasts a few seconds and doesn’t seem to have much impact. Experiences vary someowhat. However, the fundamental similarities remain.
Can a person change as a result of a near-death experience? I was struck by the example of one person who was a self described atheist and hateful person. After his near-death experience he became a minister and a kinder, gentler soul. The change was not only noted by himself, but also by his family members.
Wouldn’t it be fascinating to actually talk to a person who has had a near-death experience? I remember listening to a man named Dannion Brinkley talk about his NDEs (near death experiences). He actually had more than one in his life due to an unfortunate propensity to attract lightning. I found his insights to be very interesting.
If you want to read more about NDEs, visit near-death.com Although it is hard to classify the information there as anything more than subjective, there is a large body of recorded experiences there. Perhaps it will provide you with more insight as to whether death should be feared or not.

NDEs are funny because I do disbelieve the majority (as in, all of them) because Agendas(TM) however there is one person that had me really intrigued and is hard to disbelieve for many reasons🤔 ultimately no one can know for sure but it soothes me a bit since it's my only "proof" that we have a soul. But anyway besides that Christians especially love to prey on others' fear of death to enroll them in through NDEs which fucking infuriates me.
Yuuuuuuup. And the lady who claimed that Jesus sent her back to Earth to fight Roe vs. Wade is gonna haunt my days forever.

Letters from the Masters: Spiritual Guidance
Tumblr media
Baba Jaimal Singh - Always Listen to the inner Sound During Meditation Every Day: "If you listen for ten minutes, or five minutes, or four minutes, or two minutes, or even one minute, with love and devotion, millions of sins and obstacles will be removed." (Baba Jaimal Singh)
"The human body is like a radio receiver for listening to the Sound Current [the inner Sound during meditation]. When we tune in the radio, we begin to hear the sound. Similarly, when the Master (Sant Satguru) guides us within, we are able to hear the Divine Music. By adjusting the ‘dial’, we hear various kinds of Sound.” (Huzur Baba Sawan Singh)
"The escape is through the Sound Current." (Hazur Baba Sawan Singh)
Letters from Masters to their disciples, though originally written to specific individuals in the past, often have a universal quality about them, dealing with real-life struggles along the spiritual journey and so sometimes feel quite personal, as if they are addressed to us as well. Today's program features readings from the letters of Kirpal Singh, Sawan Singh, Baba Jaimal Singh, Soamiji Maharaj, Huzur Maharaj Rai Saligram, and Maharaj Saheb (Brahm Shankar Misra).

"You need not be afraid of discussing esoteric teachings of the Masters with others. Spiritually illumined do owe much to their less gifted brethren when you can instill faith and right understanding in them out of your own personal knowledge derived from the sacred books published from here and on personal experience gained by meditations." (Kirpal Singh)
"Stand on your belief on solid ground. Let not others' wayward opinions deflect you from the true path you are on. Let not promises of glory by anyone waylay you. Do not come to hurried conclusions, but use discrimination in all your undertakings. Stick to what is Real." (Kirpal Singh)

Is Heaven a Fantasy?
By: Brian G. Chilton, Ph.D., M.Div. | July 7, 2023 Note: Please be advised that this article contains references to expletive material. Recently, hit movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger expressed in an interview with Danny DeVito that he thought the idea of heaven was nothing more than “some fantasy.”[1] Schwarzenegger went on to say, “It reminds me of Howard Stern’s question to me … ‘Tell me,…
