So my headcanon for the end of 21x02 because as much as I loved it and cherished it, I’ve also been watching NCIS since I was a kid, it was my first fandom and Tiva was my first ship, but I wanted more from it. So this is what my headcanon for the end of the episode looks like.
Yes we did get Tony and Palmer in the morgue and all three boys in the elevator. But what they didn’t show us was the bullpen at the same exact time, where Ziva was talking to Nick. Abby is there talking to Kasie, remember that layover in Heathrow, Abby met up with the DiNozzo fam. Tali and Victoria are doing something together. Gibbs, Jack and Fornell are going to meet everyone at the venue for Ducky’s celebration of life. And there’s a wreath of flowers that doesn’t have a tag, but nestled in the middle of the flowers is a very specific chess piece.
Ducky might not have had any blood relations left, but his family turned up for him, as they always will for each other.

One of my favorite episodes of NCIS is coming on Berlin. My top 10 are
1. Season 7, Episode 13 Jet Lag (how you can see the sparks between Tony and Ziva)
2. Season 3, Episode 8 Under Covers (where Tiva was officially born)
3.(tie) Season 10, Episode 21 Berlin (the dance between Tony and Ziva)
Season 7, Episode 1 Truth of Consequences (Tony rescuing Ziva and telling her He couldn't live without her)
5. Season 7, Episode 2 Reunion (for the simple fact that Tim delivers the stupid but absolutely funny line 'I'm going to get a Nutter Butter)
6. Season 4, Episode 9 Twisted Sister (for the simple fact when Sarah met Tony and Ziva she was able to clock them as Tommy and Lisa instantly)
7. Season 6, Episode 2 Agent Afloat (as Ziva catches Tony with the pictures he took of her in Los Angeles when they had accompanied Jenny there, showing his feelings for her were more than friendship)
8. Season 8, Episode 23 Swan Song (for the simple fact with the way Tony is so gentle and sweet to Ziva comforting her after Franks' murder)
9. Season 10, Episode 12 Shiva (how Tony not only takes care of Ziva after Eli's murder but how he brings Schmiel to help too)
10. Season 6 Episode 9 Dagger (how Ziva protects Tony and how they work together to save Amanda. It's just so sweet.)

NCIS: Origins introduced Gibbs’ rules in Episode 3 of the show, and though the show is still very far from the man who lives by these rules, the rules are an integral part of who Gibbs is and who he will become. But what are Gibbs’ rules?
Over the course of NCIS, Leroy Jethro Gibbs introduced his team to his list of rules. We never had a complete list, and by the time Gibbs left NCIS in Season 19, it seemed like we would never get a complete one. This was just one of those mysteries that was always set to remain a mystery. Except NCIS: Origins now introduced the rules and gave us two new ones, in one fell swoop. So, with the return of the rules, we figured we’d put together a list of the Gibbs rules we have actually gotten so far.
So, without further ado, here’s an (incomplete) list of Gibbs’ rules. And yes, there are two number ones! Don’t blame us, blame Gibbs.
Rule #1: Never let suspects sit together.
Rule #1: Never screw over your partner.
Rule #2: Always wear gloves at a crime scene.
Rule #3: Never believe what you are told. Double-check.
Other Rule #3: Never be unreachable.
Rule #4: The best way to keep a secret is to keep it to yourself. The second best is to tell one other person — if you must. There is no third best.
Rule #5: You don’t waste good.
Rule #6: Never say you’re sorry.
Rule #7: Always be specific when you lie.
Rule #8: Never take anything for granted.
Rule #9: Never go anywhere without a knife.
Rule #10: Never get involved personally on a case.
Rule #11: When the job is done, walk away.
Rule #12: Never date a coworker.
Rule #13: Never involve lawyers.
Rule #14: Bend the line, don’t break it.
Rule #15: Always work as a team.
Rule #16: If someone thinks he has the upper hand, break it.
Rule #18: It’s better to seek forgiveness than ask permission.
Rule #20: Always look under.
Rule #21: No man is ever above or below the law
Rule #22: Never, ever bother Gibbs in interrogation.
Rule #23: Never mess with a Marine’s coffee if you want to live.
Rule #27: Two ways to follow someone. The first way, they never notice you. The second way, is they only notice you.
Rule #28: When you need help, ask.
Rule #29: Lean to obey before you command.
Rule #35: Always watch the watchers.
Rule #36: If it feels like you’re being played, you probably are.
Rule #38: Your case, you’re lead.
Rule #39: There is no such thing as a coincidence.
Rule #40: If it seems like someone’s out to get you, they are.
Rule #42: Never accept an apology from somebody who just sucker-punched you.
Rule #44: First things first, hide the women and children.
Rule #45: Left a mess I gotta clean up.
Rule #51: Sometimes you’re wrong.
Rule #62: Always give people space when they get off an elevator.
Rule #69: Never trust a woman who doesn’t trust her man.
Rule #91: When you decide to walk away, never look back.

Do you think there's a chance a streaming service will pick ncis:h? I've signed the petition but do we dare to hope? I'm tired of this happening all the time. I just dont understand. It was doing fine in ratings and it's a part of a franchise that keeps getting more spin offs? How that makes sense? Do you know the ratings compared with the others ncis shows? Sorry im asking you but im not from usa and i have no idea how american netwoks work. So sad rn.
okay SO i am also not from the us but have done this dance before sooooo:
1) from what i’ve heard, they were planning to move either another ncis show (i think sydney?) or another cbs show to paramount plus - which they now are no longer doing. in theory yes, this opens up the possibility for ncishi to move over there; in practice, i’m not holding my breath, as typically that negotiation would happen before a cancellation announcement
2) how does it make sense? the honest answer is that it doesn’t. like, it really doesn’t. it’s been holding steady at sixth of 14 cbs shows in the ratings (which is a brilliant number, ensures it’s profitable, and is also impressive for a procedural that’s still relatively new). it’s been beating a LOT of other crime procedurals in viewership and viewer retention, and reviewers have been singing its praises. i think this is why it feels so much as if it’s because they just view this show as less valuable (socially and economically) than their usual white guy cop shows; it’s very difficult to argue that your profitable, successful show is too expensive when you’re flying cast and crews across - or, potentially, internationally to - australia, to continue a less-highly-rated show with no issue.
3) as far as ratings go - ncis hawai’i episodes were pulling in as many as 10 million viewers last year (s2 e10 came in with 10.5 mil, as per variety telecast viewership reports) which has it going toe to toe with the core ncis (seems to pull approx. 8-10mil per episode, via hollywood reporter). for the 18-49 demographic across us series, ncis hawaii is ranking at #13 of #21 as per tvseriesfinale.com - this is significantly above ncis sydney (renewed, #15), and elsbeth (#19, renewed), two other cbs shows, one of which in particular is incredibly expensive. crucially, ncishi has actually increased its viewership, which is VERY difficult to do on a year to year basis. its up by 4.18% among 18 to 49 year olds - for comparison the core NCIS is down 0.83% and fbi international - a competing show - is down by 3.73%. bear in mind that even a single percentage point represents hundreds of thousands of viewers.
i also want to point out that ranking at #13 isn’t strictly representative of viewer numbers, it’s about percentage of viewers that are within that core age bracket. the neighbourhood is ranking at #6, but only pulling in 4.8 million viewers - ncishi is at #13, and pulling in 5.2 million. ncishi pulls in over half a million more viewers than four shows ranked above it in that chart.
so essentially - it doesn’t make sense. from any perspective. it doesn’t make sense from a business perspective (ncis sydney is more expensive to produce and brings in approx. 200k less viewers than ncishi, and ncishi crew had already agreed to a shortened, budget-restrained final season), it doesn’t make sense for a ratings perspective (it continues to outperform many of cbs’ own shows, including ones that have been renewed), it doesn’t make sense from a social perspective (people are loving it, even outside of our fandom spaces).
objectively, it’s a really, really bad move by cbs. i also thought being part of a franchise would be a kind of safety net - fool me once, i guess. all the evidence suggests that they just don’t care enough about ncishi, especially when they’ve got their bullshit white guy ncis origins show, a young sheldon spinoff (?? who asked?) and a plethora of other cookie-cutter shows they can just keep going with. and we can make a pretty educated guess as to why, when the main things that set ncishi apart from the other ncis shows are its diversity and character dynamics
(edit: it was pointed out that people aren’t being flown to sydney from the us, which is true, and bad phrasing on my part - but many are flown across australia at seemingly similar costs to mainland us/hawai’i flights, and i believe not all of the leads are based in australia either, so i’ve updated that bit for clarity. apologies!)
#ncis hawaii#i hope this helps ppl understand a little more!#it’s bullshit. like it’s such unbelievable blatant bullshit#ncis hawai’i

Not a week after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended, CBS is the first broadcast network out of the gate with a game plan for the delayed regular TV season.
CBS’ schedule, which kicks off in February 2024 — right after getting loads of promotion during its airing of the Super Bowl — is nearly identical to the Fall TV slate announced back in May, when the WGA strike was getting underway. The only differences are that Kathy Bates’ new Matlock series has been pushed to the 2024-25 TV season (as has the Wayanses’ Poppa’s House sitcom), and CSI: Vegas is now closing out Sunday nights.
Justin Hartley’s Tracker, as previously announced, will tackle the coveted post-Super Bowl slot, Carrie Preston’s Good Wife spinoff Elsbeth will still call Thursday home, and as the photo above means to remind you, NCIS: LA alum LL Cool J is locked in to continue his NCIS: Hawai’i arc.
Most CBS series are planning to have 10-13 episodes each, running into May.
SUNDAY, FEB. 11 (following Super Bowl LVIII) ~10 pm TRACKER (series premiere)
MONDAY, FEB. 12 8 pm The Neighborhood Season 6 8:30 pm Bob Hearts Abishola Season 5 9 pm NCIS Season 21 10 pm NCIS: Hawai’i Season 3
TUESDAY, FEB. 13 8 pm FBI Season 6 9 pm FBI: International Season 3 10 pm FBI: Most Wanted Season 5
THURSDAY, FEB. 15 9 pm Young Sheldon Season 7 8:30 pm Ghosts Season 3 9 pm So Help Me Todd Season 2 10 pm TRACKER (series premiere repeat)

SUNDAY, FEB. 18 7 pm 60 Minutes 8 pm The Equalizer Season 4 9 pm TRACKER (regular time slot premiere) 10 pm CSI: Vegas Season 3 (new night)

Heading into its 21st season, NCIS has a tough job: properly paying tribute to David McCallum, who died at the age of 90 in September, and his character, Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard, who was first introduced in the backdoor pilot episodes of JAG in 2003.
Season 21 Episode 2, airing on February 19, 2024, is the one tasked with doing just that, and it will be cowritten by the actor whose character we first met as Ducky’s assistant, Brian Dietzen. (Jimmy Palmer is now a doctor himself and the chief medical examiner.) Dietzen is once again collaborating with Scott Williams, with whom he wrote Season 19’s “The Helpers” and Season 20’s “Old Wounds.”
“In the episode, the team will learn of Ducky’s passing and reflect on their memories of him as they grieve,” co-showrunners/executive producers Steven D. Binder and David North told TVLine. “And true to Ducky’s meticulous and compassionate nature, even after he’s gone, he still manages to solve one last crime with the team.” They also promised “a very touching and special moment you won’t want to miss.”
But what moments need to be in what is sure to be one of the most powerful, touching episodes of the series? We suggest just those below.
An episode worthy of David McCallum and Ducky
Listen, this should go without saying and it’s more likely than not that we’ll get it, but it’s the only way to kick off this list. Whatever the tribute ends up being, it should be one that would make McCallum proud and properly reflects what both his and Ducky’s legacies mean for the show and franchise. That, of course, would include flashbacks to significant moments over the past 20 seasons.
Major returns — or at least mentions
While Dietzen and Sean Murray (who plays Tim McGee) have both been part of the show since Season 1, they were both introduced (and recurred) then. But Gibbs (Mark Harmon) has a long history with Ducky — the 400th episode detailed its origins — and Tony (Michael Weatherly), too, was part of the JAG episodes. We also saw what Ducky meant to characters who have since left like Ziva (Cote de Pablo) and Abby (Pauley Perrette) over the years. (Gibbs, Tony, Ziva, and Abby are also characters Dietzen told TV Insider in February he “would be ecstatic to write for.”) At least one major return would be great — especially from Harmon, given Ducky and Gibbs’ friendship — but if that doesn’t happen, these characters need to at least be mentioned in a significant way.
At least one flashback with Young Ducky
Adam Campbell has appeared in four episodes since Season 12, including the 400th, as young Ducky, and from his first, it was clear he was perfect casting. And if Mark Harmon isn’t in the episode, his son Sean Harmon could always return as young Gibbs for a flashback highlighting the early days of that friendship.
Palmer sharing an anecdote about Ducky...
… just like Ducky did all the time. He’s the perfect person to deliver it, and it would be especially fitting if that is what helps the team solve its case, given Binder and North’s tease in their statement.
Heartfelt emotion, grief, and joy
It’s going to be a heartbreaking hour. We already know that. But there needs to be (at least a little) joy as well as Ducky’s life is celebrated. Not only could that work, but it could also fit the bill of what Dietzen previously told us he wanted to tackle when it came to writing his next episode: “I would love to do a lighter show, for sure. … But that said, if I could dig into some darker stuff with any one of these characters, that would be a joy to do as well.” Ducky lived a long life. There are some stories still to be told. Those could certainly bring some laughs.
Acknowledgement of what Ducky meant to NCIS beyond the team (and their memories)
Sometimes it’s easy to forget about the rest of the agency, but Ducky didn’t just work with this one team. And he continued to mean quite a deal to NCIS as its historian after he left the chief ME position. There could be some sort of gathering — outside of a funeral, if that’s shown — or not, but what there definitely needs to be is something permanent in the building that serves as a reminder of the legacy Ducky has left behind.
It ends in the morgue
Empty, lights out.
