I really enjoyed the NCIS season premiere (we're a bit behind here!). It kind of reminded me of 7x01, which is not just one of my favourite NCIS eps, but one of my favourite eps of television, period.

Frozen
Callen kicked open the door, carting an armload of firewood with him. “I think there’s enough to get us through the night and morning tomorrow,” he said, shaking snow off of his buzzed hair. “Did you get in touch with the power company?”
“Yeah, the area is experiencing widespread outages and they’re getting to the problem as quickly as possible,” Deeks answered. He sat to the side of a blazing fire, mixing the content of a small pot hung from an improvised hook Sam had rigged up.
“We’ll just have to wait it out,” Sam decided.
For the last four days, they’d been chasing a pair of hackers who had fled LA while out on bond. The team had tracked them across multiple states before ultimately landing in small town in Indiana yesterday.
The sole hotel in town didn’t have vacancies due to several pipes bursting from cold weather, so they’d found a house for rent and managed to convince the owner to let them rent it for a few days. It left a lot to be desired, but at least it offered protection from the dropping temperatures and growing snowfall.
At least until the power went out unexpectedly, plunging the house into complete darkness. As they scrambled to get out flashlights, the temperature had fallen with alarming speed. Fortunately, the place had a functioning fireplace, but it only generated enough heat to keep the main room above freezing, and the wood supply was quickly dwindling.
Deeks handed out bowls of disappointing canned chicken soup and they ate in silence.
“Of course the one time we come to Indiana, there has to be a blizzard,” Kensi complained a few minutes later. She blew on her hands and then rubbed them in front of the fire. Like the rest of them, she wore a parka, stocking cap, and scarf. Callen and Sam stood on the opposite side, trying to remain stoic, yet clearly feeling the effect of the cold if their fidgeting was any indicator.
“To be fair, it is January and I’m pretty sure this is normal for most of the Midwest,” Deeks pointed out.
“Thanks, babe.” Glaring at him, she raised her shoulders to her ears, visibly shuddering.
“I’m sorry. You want to snuggle?”
Wedging herself next to him on the ledge in front of the fireplace, Kensi leaned into his side.
“This would be a lot more fun if we were at Mammoth,” she muttered.
“You even think of doing anything you two get up to there, I’ll kick your butts outside,” Sam threatened. He’d started pacing the length of the room after they ate, his irritation growing with every pass.
“Fortunately for you, it’s a bit chilly for that kind of activity to be enjoyable,” Deeks said. “Thought it might warm us up.” So would a cup of boiling hot coffee or an extra pair of socks.
“Warmth sounds nice.” Kensi pressed her cold nose into his neck and Deeks winced.
“You gotta keep moving. Keep the blood flowing.”
“Is this an inappropriate moment for a “that’s what she said” joke?” Deeks wondered.
“You know, we’re gonna need to sleep at some point,” Callen pointed out. Of all of them he seemed the least affected by the cold. “We’ll probably need to huddle up to stay warm.”
“Ooh, sounds cozy. And slightly scandalous.”
“Deeks, I am not snuggling with you,” Sam growled between chattering teeth.
“Aw, that’s hurtful,” Deeks gasped, his breath fogging out in an icy blast. “And here—here I was gonna let you be the big spoon.”
“More like serving spoon,” Callen added under his breath.
“Deeks is really good at snuggling,” Kensi chimed in.
“If I could, I would leave you all right here.” Sam’s usual glare lacked some of his usual weight and Deeks grinned back at him, enjoying the distraction from his cold and stiff fingers.
“A hollow threat given it’s below ten degrees outside. Without the windchill.”
“We’ll be fine,” Sam insisted.
***
An Hour Later
“See, this isn’t so bad,” Deeks said, cradling Kensi against his chest. Callen lay next to her, and at the very end, by his choice, lay Sam. They’d pulled out as many blankets and quilts as they could find and piled them on the floor in front of the fire.
Now under a thick layer of blankets and curled around Kensi, he felt a little warmer.
“Mm, you make a very nice space heater,” she said, already sounding a little sleepy.
“Speak for yourself,” Sam grumbled.
“Oh come on Sam, from now on this will be known as the great OSP Slumber Party.”
“We’re never speaking of this to anyone. Ever,” Sam disagreed.
“Of course.” Kensi nodded. “Except for Eric and Nell.”
“And Granger,” Callen added.
“I’m starting to think I’d be better off outside.”

At least twice a week since July I've had people thanking me for my neuroendocrine cancer education and telling me how often they use the resources I built them :') idk imposter syndrome is ever present and in healthcare you can even have thoughts of "Man, am I spending too much time educating/researching on poorly understood cancers?"
I'm still struggling to decide on format, but I'm currently compiling my research and resources to make a self-guided cancer education resource for my team. I really enjoy my job rn but I think focused cancer education would be nice to springboard into later in life once I finish learning about the inner guts of the ACA. I'm finally healthy enough to consider higher education, but the catch is my employer insurance is the only reason I can get my medical care...and leaving for school to be able to focus more officially on cancer education means I'd lose that medical care security :(

NCIS Season 21 Finale (Spoilers alert)
First of all, allow me to say how amazing that episode was. The intensity, the anxiety and fear it gave me, the scenes with Parker and Knight! Gary Cole and Katrina Law deserve to be praised for their performance. In my opinion, it was a really great season finale and I loved it.
To be completely honest, I'll definitely rewatch this season during the summer because no episode missed. It was short but every ep were great in their own way. So kudos to them!
Now, onto what I wanted to talk about. Who's Lily? As an Alden Parker lover, I thought about it and here's my theory: Alden is lying about not knowing who Lily is. Imo, she was his sister - it seemed like they didn't have much age difference, so maybe a twin? - and clearly something happened to her, which deeply traumatized Alden. Now, when Jess asked him about his mother, it seemed like there was something deep there. So, what I'm thinking is that Lily died in an accident, probably on a ship. Maybe she fell over board in the flashback we saw? And Alden's mother probably held him responsible, which got them to have a complicated relationship.
I may be completely wrong, but this is my theory for now. What do you think?
I also have to talk about Jimmy and Jessica. Our sweet Jimmy was indeed a bit unfair to Jessica, but I kinda understand him. He's been through so much, lost so many people in a very short time, and ever since he learned about Jess's plan, he's probably feeling like she can leave any day. And he's done with losing people he loves.
However, I don't think Jess would've said yes to Vance if they didn't have that 'fight' beforehand. Now, I really don't think Katrina is leaving the show, so something will happen in the season 22 premiere, and she will change her mind. Maybe it's wishful thinking but there is where I stand for now.
Again, what do you think?
So yeah, I had to talk about this season finale. Seeing my man in pain hurt me, thank god they saved him. They are family.

It’s Not Just Words on a Paper
Set while Kensi is still in a coma in season 8.
***
“Marty?”
Deeks jerked awake, a frequent occurrence since the helicopter crash. His hypervigilant response had returned with a vengeance. He blinked rapidly, finding Julia standing over him. He blinked again, and rubbed his hands over his face, trying to get his bearings.
“Julia. Sorry, I didn’t mean to fall asleep,” he said, guiltily glancing at Kensi.
Julia gently laid a hand over his shoulder. “There’s no need to apologize for resting,” she insisted softly. She looked him over slowly, her eyes traveling past him to the small bedside table, covered with the remnants of a hastily grabbed dinner, drinks, and the books he brought to read to Kensi. “How long have you been here?”
“Uh, just since I got off work. The case wrapped up earlier than expected, and Sam and Callen are picking up some of the paperwork for me,” he explained.
“And you were here this morning before work again.” It wasn’t a question, and Deeks shrugged in response.
He was by Kensi’s side every moment possible; if it weren’t for work, he’d spend all day with her.
“Honey, you need to take care of yourself too,” Julia continued, with what Deeks belatedly realized was concern. “When was the last time you showered or slept or ate at home? It can’t be good for you to sleep sitting up every night or live off of the closest take out.”
“It doesn’t do any good,” Deeks responded, pausing to rub his hands over his face in a futile attempt to force down the nearly constant exhaustion that plagued him. “I can’t sleep when when I go home. Besides, I don’t want to be anywhere else.”
He glanced back at Kensi, automatically checking for any signs, good or bad. When he turned to Julia again, her lips were pressed tightly together, her resemblance to Kensi so similar it almost hurt.
“Kensi was so lucky the day she met you,” Julia whispered, her voice going hoarse as her eye filled with tears. She cupped his cheek, and Deeks felt his own throat tighten.
“I don’t know about that,” he managed. He wanted to go for a joke to gain some level of control over his quickly spiraling emotions, but he didn’t have the energy.
“She is. Look at everything you do for her. You’re here, by her side every single day, talking and reading to her, trying everything the doctors suggest. Not everyone would do that.”
“Well, I promised in sickness and health,” Deeks answered with a bitter laugh. “Doesn’t matter how bad it gets. I’m not going anywhere.”
Julia let out a quiet sob, and wrapped her arms around him, holding him tightly. “Thank you. Thank you for loving my little girl so much, and taking care of her,” she whispered.

The first NCIS Christmas episode since 2019...
is named after the most famous NCIS LA Christmas episode! (yes, the one that ends with 'I want to be bold with you'!).
Make of that of what you will.
