Do y’all remember when there were rumors that Taylor would be performing at the Super Bowl half time show like last year and tree basically said Taylor is way too big to do the Super Bowl she doesn’t need to do that. I feel like the NFL begged her to do the halftime show and when that didn’t work they tried to drop hints that she would to get her fans to encourage her to do it. And Taylor was like “nah fam but here’s a way for us to be mutually beneficial to each other. I’ll get your viewership and merch/ticket sales up and you keep talking about me while I’m on break from tour and promoting my re-recordings and tour movie and whatever else.”
Mention Taylor swift get more clicks.
This is a little out there but I feel like she came up with this plan while watching The Last Dance docuseries (The Chicago Bulls MJ doc) during the pandemic. (If you recall she said she watched it during the long pond studio sessions. Particular when she heard how they talked about Dennis Rodman and Madonna dating back then getting the NBA a whole new level of viewership.

There's been a lot of discourse and blame about the clusterfuck with Teeth of God tour presale, people not getting codes, dynamic pricing and the uncertainty around what will happen with 3rd party resale. But tickets selling out almost entirely within a day of the general on-sale (except Laval, SMH, get it together Quebec!) I feel like we need to assign some of the blame to either Spinefarm or whoever the US booking agent is.
It pains me to admit it because I am so excited to see them at an incredible venue like Massey Hall and I respect them wanting to play smaller, more intimate venues, but they really have no business still playing theatres. They're too big for those. They need to be playing arenas at this point. I'm most familiar with the Toronto market so that'll be my example but there were 17k people ahead of me in the presale queue, and I heard it went as high as 27 or 30k. We've got an outdoor amphitheatre venue here that seats 16k people and an NHL/NBA arena that seats just under 20k. One night at either of those is 3-4 times the number of people who will be able to see them at the two shows they have here.
I am still in disbelief that I did get tickets for Massey but for the love of Sleep they need to be in larger venues.
Anyway I spent too long last night reading comments on the band's Instagram post about the tour selling out and cancelling bot purchases. I also work in event ticketing and have been going to shows/buying tickets since 1998 so lmk if you want to hear my full rant on the whole ticketing fiasco, what I currently understand to be the situation with resale, what people are getting wrong and right, and how to protect yourself from resale scams.

Nile Archer's Blog: Marketing Insights
Is streamlining fan user data the most effective way to generate effective marketing campaigns for Sports?
The NBA has entered into a multi-year, league-wide partnership with the fan engagement platform StellarAlgo, according to a press release. The league has also taken an equity stake in the company, which was founded in 2016.
In 2017, the LA Kings (AEG) partnered with StellarAlgo a customer data platform (CDP) that helps organizations in the sports and entertainment industry improve their fan engagement strategies. It uses data analytics and machine learning algorithms to identify and target high-value fans, personalize marketing messages, and optimize ticket sales and revenue. The platform also provides insights on fan behavior, preferences, and demographics, which can help organizations make data-driven decisions to enhance the fan experience and increase fan loyalty. StellarAlgo's clients include professional sports teams, college athletics programs, and live entertainment venues.
Tumblr media
Approximately, 72% of consumers only engage with marketing messages that are personalized to their interests according to ProemSports.com
Personalized messages feel more relevant, valuable, and tailored to their specific needs and preferences. Personalization allows marketers to create more targeted and relevant messages that are tailored to each individual's interests, behaviors, and preferences. When consumers receive messages that are personalized to their needs, they are more likely to pay attention and engage with the message, leading to higher response rates, conversions, and sales.
Furthermore, personalized messages help to build stronger relationships between consumers and brands. When consumers feel that a brand understands their needs and preferences, I feel like they are more likely to trust and be loyal to that brand over time.

When Does SeatGeek Stop Selling Tickets?
SeatGeek is a popular online marketplace for buying and selling tickets to various live events, including concerts, sports games, and theater performances. One of the most common questions ticket buyers have is: When does SeatGeek stop selling tickets? The answer depends on several factors, such as event policies, ticket delivery methods, and seller availability.
Tumblr media
Last-Minute Ticket Sales on SeatGeek
1. Event Start Time and Cutoff for Sales
SeatGeek typically allows ticket sales to continue until shortly before the event starts. The exact cutoff time varies depending on the type of event, venue policies, and ticket availability.
Factors That Influence Ticket Sale Cutoff:
Digital Ticket Delivery: If tickets are available for instant download or mobile transfer, they can be sold up until a few minutes before the event begins.
Physical Ticket Shipping: If tickets need to be mailed, SeatGeek stops selling them well in advance to ensure timely delivery.
Seller Policies: Individual sellers may set their own cutoff times based on their ability to deliver the tickets.
Venue and Event Rules: Some venues require ticket purchases to be finalized at least a few hours before the event starts.
SeatGeek’s Ticket Availability for Different Events
1. Concerts and Festivals
For concerts and festivals, SeatGeek typically allows ticket sales up until the event starts. However, some artists or venues may require ticket transfers to be completed within a certain timeframe before the show.
E-tickets and Mobile Transfers: Usually available until just before the event.
Will-Call or Physical Tickets: Sales stop earlier due to pickup and shipping deadlines.
2. Sports Events
SeatGeek partners with many sports leagues, including the NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL, which impacts how long tickets remain available.
Major League Games: Digital tickets are usually available until minutes before the game.
Playoff or Championship Games: Some restrictions may apply, limiting last-minute purchases.
Resale Listings: Ticket resellers may choose to remove their listings at any time.
3. Broadway and Theater Shows
For Broadway and theater performances, ticket sales typically end just before the show starts. However, some venues have strict rules on last-minute ticket transfers.
Electronic and Mobile Tickets: Often available up until the start time.
Paper Tickets: Sales stop earlier due to delivery requirements.
How to Find Last-Minute Tickets on SeatGeek
If you’re looking to buy tickets close to event time, follow these steps:
Use SeatGeek’s Mobile App: The app provides real-time updates on ticket availability.
Look for Instant Download or Mobile Transfer Tickets: These are the best options for last-minute buyers.
Check Listings Frequently: New tickets may become available even minutes before the event.
Enable Notifications: Get alerts when ticket prices drop or new tickets are listed.
Confirm Venue Policies: Some venues require electronic transfers to be completed in advance.
Why SeatGeek Might Stop Selling Tickets Early
There are a few reasons why SeatGeek may stop selling tickets earlier than expected:
Venue or Event Restrictions: Some events require ticket purchases to be finalized by a certain time.
Seller Availability: If no sellers list tickets close to the event, there may be none available.
Security and Fraud Prevention: Last-minute transactions may be restricted to reduce fraud risk.
Technical Limitations: Some ticket transfers take time, requiring sales to stop early.
Alternative Options If SeatGeek Stops Selling Tickets
If you miss the cutoff for buying tickets on SeatGeek, consider these alternatives:
Check Other Ticket Marketplaces: Websites like StubHub, Vivid Seats, and Ticketmaster may still have tickets.
Visit the Venue’s Box Office: Some venues sell last-minute tickets at the gate.
Look for Resellers Near the Venue: Be cautious of scams when buying in person.
Use Social Media Groups: Some fans sell extra tickets through online communities.
Conclusion
SeatGeek generally sells tickets up until the event starts, but the exact cutoff depends on the ticket type, event policies, and seller preferences. If you’re looking for last-minute tickets, focus on mobile or digital delivery options for the best chances of securing a seat. Always check SeatGeek’s app and website for real-time availability, and if sales stop earlier than expected, explore alternative ticket sources to find your way into the event.

Bored Ape Yacht Club: The Most Expensive NFTs and Their Future in the Digital World
Tumblr media
Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) has become a household name in the world of NFTs. Its stunning artwork, celebrity involvement, and skyrocketing prices have made it a cultural icon. What began as a digital art project has transformed into an exclusive membership club and a powerful symbol of digital ownership. With each passing year, BAYC continues to evolve, attracting investors, creators, and even entire industries. As we dive into its origins, milestones, and future, we’ll explore why this NFT collection remains at the forefront of the digital art revolution and what lies ahead for it in 2024.
Introduction to Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC)
Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) was launched in April 2021 by Yuga Labs, a company founded by Greg Solano and Wylie Aronow. The collection features 10,000 unique, hand-drawn images of apes, each with different traits such as fur color, accessories, and expressions. These images were minted as NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain, making them verifiable and tradable digital assets. Buyers not only purchased the apes but also gained access to an exclusive membership with perks such as private events, virtual goods, and a place in the growing BAYC community.
From the start, BAYC’s concept was more than just digital art. The apes acted as a ticket to a community, giving owners access to real-world and virtual experiences. The project quickly gained traction when celebrities like NBA star Stephen Curry, rapper Snoop Dogg, and tech mogul Mark Cuban bought their own apes. These high-profile endorsements helped legitimize BAYC and draw even more attention to the NFT space.
By 2024, BAYC had solidified its position as one of the most iconic NFT projects in history. Its innovative approach — blending art with utility — allowed it to remain relevant even as the broader NFT market has fluctuated. As Yuga Labs said, “BAYC is more than a collection; it’s a cultural movement.”
The Rise of the Bored Ape NFTs
BAYC’s meteoric rise can be traced to a few key moments in its history. The project’s debut in April 2021 was modest, with each of the 10,000 apes initially priced at just 0.08 ETH (around $200). However, the real turning point came when celebrities and influencers started to show interest. Rapper Snoop Dogg, who is a massive figure in both the music and NFT spaces, made his first purchase, and the floodgates opened. In the months that followed, NBA players, musicians, actors, and even tech moguls joined the BAYC community, adding a sense of legitimacy to the NFT craze.
The rise of BAYC coincided with the 2021 explosion of NFT hype, as the digital art market boomed and NFTs became mainstream. Social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram played a significant role in the collection’s viral spread, with owners and influencers showcasing their apes and the benefits of being part of the club. This social proof, combined with the exclusivity of the project, helped create a sense of urgency and scarcity around the apes, pushing prices to new heights.
In late 2021, Bored Ape NFTs began fetching prices well over $1 million, and by 2022, some apes were selling for upwards of $10 million. BAYC expanded beyond just digital art, with collaborations with major brands like Adidas, and even a partnership with the gaming giant Animoca Brands. These collaborations solidified BAYC’s status as not just a collection, but a lifestyle brand with staying power.

These record-breaking sales underscore the growing demand for digital assets like BAYC in the modern art world. Auction houses such as Sotheby’s and Christie’s have helped elevate the collection’s status, bringing it into the mainstream conversation about art and investment. As experts have noted, “Bored Apes are no longer just digital art; they are assets that can appreciate over time.”

The Economic and Cultural Impact of Overseas Sports on Global Communities
The global sports industry has 해외스포츠중계 evolved into a multifaceted powerhouse, driving economic growth and fostering cultural exchange worldwide. As overseas sports leagues and events transcend borders, they have left an indelible mark on communities, influencing local economies, shaping cultural identities, and connecting people through shared passions. From hosting international tournaments to embracing foreign sports traditions, the integration of overseas sports into global communities reflects the profound ways sports can unite and transform societies.
A Catalyst for Economic Growth
The expansion of overseas sports into new markets has proven to be a significant economic driver. Hosting major international events like the FIFA World Cup, the Olympics, and Formula 1 races injects billions of dollars into local economies. These events generate revenue through ticket sales, sponsorship deals, broadcasting rights, and tourism.
The 2012 London Olympics, for example, contributed over $17 billion to the UK economy. Infrastructure development, job creation, and increased tourism were among the benefits, leaving a lasting legacy that continues to impact the region. Similarly, the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar showcased how hosting a global sporting event can spur infrastructure investment and put a nation on the world stage.
Beyond hosting events, the popularity of overseas sports leagues like the NBA, English Premier League (EPL), and La Liga creates economic opportunities in merchandise sales, broadcasting agreements, and sponsorships. These leagues have cultivated dedicated fan bases in countries like China, India, and the United States, turning local businesses, sports bars, and retailers into thriving hubs of fan engagement.
Employment and Business Opportunities
Overseas sports generate direct and indirect employment opportunities. From construction workers building stadiums to local vendors selling memorabilia, the economic ripple effects of sports are far-reaching. Major events often require a vast workforce, ranging from hospitality staff to media professionals, creating jobs for local residents.
Additionally, the rise of sports-related businesses, such as fitness centers, sports academies, and fan merchandise stores, further stimulates economic growth. For example, the popularity of cricket in countries like the UAE and Canada has led to the establishment of leagues, academies, and training facilities, fostering local talent while boosting economic activity.
The Power of Cultural Exchange
Sports have always been a powerful vehicle for cultural exchange, and the integration of overseas sports into local communities amplifies this effect. International sports bring together diverse cultures, creating opportunities for mutual understanding and shared experiences.
Football, for instance, has become a universal language, with leagues like the EPL and La Liga resonating across continents. Fans from different countries come together to support their favorite teams, blending their own traditions with those of the sport. This cross-cultural interaction fosters a sense of unity and belonging, breaking down barriers and promoting inclusivity.
Athletes themselves often serve as cultural ambassadors. International stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Naomi Osaka, and Yao Ming represent not only their sports but also their cultural heritage, inspiring fans worldwide and promoting global awareness. Their influence extends beyond the field, as they participate in philanthropic efforts, advocate for social causes, and celebrate diversity.
Shaping Local Sports Cultures
The influx of overseas sports has also transformed local sports cultures. Communities that adopt foreign sports often blend their traditions with the new, creating unique and vibrant fan experiences.
In countries like Japan and South Korea, the influence of American Major League Baseball (MLB) has led to the development of enthusiastic local fan cultures. Japanese baseball fans, for instance, are known for their organized cheering and drumming, combining traditional elements with the excitement of the sport.
Similarly, the growth of football in the United States has led to the creation of hybrid fan cultures, incorporating elements of European football traditions with American-style festivities, such as tailgating and halftime entertainment. These cultural adaptations enrich the global sports landscape, showcasing the versatility and universality of sports.
Challenges and Considerations
Despite the numerous benefits, the integration of overseas sports into global communities is not without challenges. Balancing the needs of local and international fans can be complex. Leagues and organizations must navigate cultural sensitivities, ensure fair representation, and address concerns about the commercialization of sports.
Economic inequalities also pose a challenge. While major events can boost local economies, the benefits are not always evenly distributed. Low-income communities may struggle to access sports facilities, tickets, or merchandise, limiting their participation in the global sports phenomenon.
Environmental sustainability is another pressing issue. The carbon footprint of international sports events, including travel, infrastructure development, and waste generation, has sparked calls for greener practices. Many organizations are now prioritizing sustainability by adopting eco-friendly initiatives, such as carbon-neutral stadiums and waste reduction programs.
Inspiring Future Generations
One of the most enduring impacts of overseas sports is their ability to inspire future generations. Through grassroots initiatives, sports academies, and community outreach programs, international leagues and organizations nurture young talent and promote healthy lifestyles.
Programs like the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders and FIFA’s Football for Hope have empowered youth in underserved regions, providing access to training, education, and mentorship. These initiatives not only develop skills but also instill values such as teamwork, discipline, and resilience, shaping well-rounded individuals who can contribute to their communities.
A Shared Global Passion
Overseas sports have united fans and communities across borders, demonstrating the universal appeal of athletic competition. The passion for sports transcends language, culture, and geography, creating a global community bonded by shared excitement and admiration.
As sports continue to evolve and expand, their impact on global communities will only deepen. By fostering economic growth, promoting cultural exchange, and inspiring individuals, overseas sports exemplify the transformative power of human connection.
Conclusion
The economic and cultural impact of overseas sports on global communities is profound and far-reaching. From driving economic development to fostering cultural understanding, international sports have become a cornerstone of global unity.
While challenges remain, the opportunities for growth, innovation, and inclusivity are boundless. As fans cheer for their favorite teams and athletes, they contribute to a larger narrative of shared passion, cultural celebration, and the unifying power of sports. In an interconnected world, overseas sports will continue to break boundaries, enrich lives, and inspire generations to come.

Understanding NFTs: The Digital Revolution in Ownership and Art
Non-fungible tokens, or NFTs, have become a buzzword in the digital and financial worlds, transforming the way we think about ownership, art, and digital assets. But what exactly are NFTs, and why are they so significant? In this post, we'll delve into the world of NFTs, exploring their origins, applications, and future potential.
What Are NFTs?
NFTs are unique digital assets verified using blockchain technology. Unlike cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ethereum, which are fungible and can be exchanged on a one-to-one basis, NFTs are one-of-a-kind. Each NFT contains distinct information, making it unique and non-interchangeable. This uniqueness is what makes NFTs valuable and interesting.
The Technology Behind NFTs
NFTs are typically built on blockchain platforms like Ethereum. A blockchain is a decentralized digital ledger that records transactions across many computers in a way that ensures the data cannot be altered retroactively. This decentralized nature of blockchain provides the security and authenticity that NFTs need.
Each NFT is stored as a cryptographic token on the blockchain, ensuring that the ownership and transaction history of the token is transparent and immutable. This technology guarantees that each NFT is unique and verifiable, providing a level of trust and security that is crucial for digital assets.
The Rise of NFTs
The concept of NFTs has been around for several years, but they gained mainstream attention in 2021. The sale of digital artwork, "Everydays: The First 5000 Days" by the artist Beeple, for $69.3 million at a Christie’s auction, catapulted NFTs into the spotlight. This landmark sale demonstrated the potential of NFTs to revolutionize the art market and beyond.
Applications of NFTs
NFTs have a wide range of applications, far beyond just digital art. Here are some of the most prominent uses:
1. Digital Art
NFTs allow artists to tokenize their work, providing proof of authenticity and ownership. This has opened up new revenue streams for artists, who can now sell their work directly to collectors without intermediaries.
2. Collectibles
Digital collectibles, such as CryptoKitties and NBA Top Shot, have become extremely popular. These NFTs represent unique items that can be collected, traded, and sold, similar to physical collectibles like trading cards.
3. Gaming
In the gaming world, NFTs can represent in-game assets such as weapons, skins, or virtual land. These assets can be bought, sold, and traded outside the game’s ecosystem, providing players with true ownership of their digital items.
4. Virtual Real Estate
Virtual worlds like Decentraland and The Sandbox allow users to purchase, develop, and sell virtual land and properties using NFTs. This virtual real estate can be used for various purposes, from hosting events to building digital businesses.
5. Music and Entertainment
Musicians and entertainers are also leveraging NFTs to create unique experiences and monetize their work. Artists can sell exclusive content, concert tickets, or even entire albums as NFTs, giving fans a way to support their favorite creators directly.
The Future of NFTs
The potential for NFTs extends far beyond their current applications. Here are some future possibilities:
1. Real-World Asset Tokenization
NFTs could be used to represent ownership of real-world assets, such as real estate, art, or even shares in a company. This would allow for fractional ownership, making it easier for individuals to invest in high-value assets.
2. Digital Identity and Credentials
NFTs could be used to represent digital identities, providing secure and verifiable proof of identity, qualifications, or achievements. This could streamline processes like job applications, academic credentialing, and identity verification.
3. Decentralized Finance (DeFi)
In the DeFi space, NFTs could be used as collateral for loans, or to represent ownership of financial instruments. This would add a new dimension to the decentralized financial ecosystem, providing more options for investors and borrowers.
Challenges and Criticisms
Despite their potential, NFTs are not without challenges and criticisms. Environmental concerns have been raised due to the energy consumption of blockchain networks like Ethereum. Additionally, the market for NFTs can be highly speculative, with prices for some assets fluctuating wildly.
There are also issues of intellectual property and copyright, as the digital nature of NFTs makes it easy to copy and distribute the underlying content. Ensuring that the original creator is fairly compensated and that the ownership rights are respected is a complex challenge.
Conclusion
NFTs represent a groundbreaking shift in how we perceive and manage digital ownership. From art and collectibles to gaming and beyond, NFTs are unlocking new possibilities and creating new markets. As technology evolves and matures, we can expect to see even more innovative applications and solutions emerge, cementing NFTs as a cornerstone of the digital economy.
Whether you’re an artist, collector, gamer, or investor, understanding NFTs and their potential is crucial as we move further into the digital age. The world of NFTs is still in its infancy, and the journey ahead promises to be as exciting as it is unpredictable.

Spotify’s The Ringer Announces Summer Ringer Residency In LA
Tumblr media
Before COVID, podcasts were generating significant interest in live events. For example, Slate had its Slate Day in Manhattan a few years ago with multiple podcasts being recorded with a live audience, as have other networks. There is On Air Fest in multiple locations. Live podcasting events are good for the industry as a whole. To continue that trend, Spotify’s The Ringer has announced that tickets are now on sale for a “Ringer Residency” taking place this summer at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, from Tuesday, June 18th through Tuesday, July 30th. A variety of Ringer shows will be featured for live podcast recordings, including The Ringer NBA Show (June 18th), Talk the Thrones (June 25th), The Big Picture (July 9th), The Ringer-Verse (July 17th), Wrighty’s House (July 26th) and The Ringer Fantasy Football Show(July 30th).
“We're thrilled to bring our shows to live audiences in L.A. this summer," said Sean Fennessey, Head of Content for The Ringer and host of The Big Picture, "to continue the great work of turning all the parasocial relationships listeners have formed with our hosts into real-world social relationships."

The Ringer, launched by Bill Simmons in 2016 and acquired by Spotify in 2020, is a website, podcast network and video production house creating a blend of sports, pop culture, politics and tech content.
One of the most popular sportswriters on ESPN, Simmons at times had tense and public battles with ESPN about creative freedom and censorship during his time there.
Simmons has also been the subject of a New York Times investigation in 2021 that published accusations about The Ringer′s workplace culture. It included accusations that Simmons had tried to marginalize The Ringer′s newly formed union, through tactics such as bringing in contract workers and unfollowing writers on Twitter who had expressed support for the union.
Simmons has also been embroiled in various controversies, ranging from cursing an NBA player to a recent mini-feud with ESPN host Pat McAfee over...who the hell knows...wounded male egos.
The Ringer Podcast Network includes over 50 podcasts, featuring The Bill Simmons Podcast, and The Rewatchables, among many others. Ringer Films, launched in 2018, produces long and short-form non-scripted programming, including critically acclaimed HBO documentaries André the Giant, Showbiz Kids, and Music Box, a collection of documentary films that explore pivotal moments in the music world.

Week 2: The Work of Representation/Interpreting Media
How a sign can be interpreted differently in media
Tumblr media
Signs are not a part of a fixed system; they are not defined universally. Everyone can interpret a sign or a gesture differently. Usually, this difference is constructed as cultures, language and norms vary. A pattern we will see is how social and cultural backgrounds shape the interpretation of an event and why the role of the viewer is so critical. A recent example of this is the double standard surrounding Iowa's Caitlin Clark and LSU's Angel Reese. During this year’s March Madness, these two players went viral for using the gesture “You can’t see me.” Caitlin Clark initially made this gesture after she made her sixth three-pointer of the night against Louisville (Henderson). Overall, the gesture was well-received, and she even got a congratulations from John Cena (the originator of the gesture) after the game.
Tumblr media
The narrative began to shift as Angel Reese recreated this gesture during the women’s NCAA tournament. Although the gesture was the same, the media interpreted it much differently. Angel Reese got criticized for “taunting” Caitlin Clark and being “classless.” Many viewers felt that Reese displayed “ugly sportsmanship” and this was a reflection of LSU’s head coach, Kim Mulkey (Salvador). The narrative quickly received Clark as a hero and Reese as a villain. However, some viewers noticed the double standard being formed and encouraged people to see the bias behind it. What were people’s reaction saying about their individual backgrounds? Meg Linehan says, “If you celebrated Clark for doing this but not Angel Reese you got to take a long, long look in the mirror.” Linehan is referring to the racial bias that is being revealed through people’s reaction and the common stereotype of black women as “aggressive” or “angry.” Angel Reese shares “I don’t fit in the box that you all want me to be in. I’m too hood, I’m too ghetto. You told me that all year. But when other people do it, y’all don’t say nothing.” Reese herself criticizes the narrative that has been surrounding her. Overall, signs can be interpreted in many ways. In this case, the gesture was interpreted as “competitive” or “classless.” Many have pinpointed this difference as a reflection of racial bias and individual background.

PART 2:
How the NCAA's Women's basketball tournaments created a discourse that reconditioned our regimes of truth
Growing up, I watched a lot of basketball. More specifically, I watched a lot of march madness. In my house, it was the busiest month of the year. My dad worked for the NBA draft and year after year I sat on the couch with him watching these pivotal games. I never once watched a women’s basketball game.
Men’s basketball was dominant and in the world of basketball, women were often discredited. Forbes reports that in 2020, the average NBA player made five million dollars, whereas the average WNBA player made 120k. This pays difference reflects the lower ticket sales, lower attendance, and lower viewership in the WBNA. It was the reality and “regime of truth” that the NBA was more successful and entertaining.
This was until this year’s March Madness and the discourse surrounding it. For the first time, the Women’s title game received more viewers than the men’s (Porter). The women’s tournaments more than doubled its viewership. Many credit this to Caitlin Clark and her rise to super star status. The media coverage on her has been outstanding and she has taken over popularity on all platforms. Even if people started watching because of their interest in her, they learn more about the game and the other dominant players that are leading women’s basketball right now. Caitlin Clark has announced that she is declaring for the WNBA draft. This is monumental and means so many great things to come for the sport. She has left a lasting legacy and a promising future for the NCAA tournaments, but is going to bring her determination and skill into the WNBA which will hopefully cut some of these disparities. Men’s basketball may have sustained their dominance, but the future is promising, and change is on the way. For most, that change is Caitlin Clark.

Note
The Bacardi brand Signed a 2 year contract with Camila cabello, making it the biggest investment ever made by the brand in a celebrity. In addition to appearances at shows, festivals & billboards around the world, the campaign's commercials will begin airing today at NBA basketball games. Her song “I luv it” will appear in every commercial across tv and according to people magazine who was on set with her while she filmed the commercial she’s apparently gearing up for a world tour…now how is world tour supposed to work when she could barely sell tickets during her romance era and then didn’t even tour her familia era because of album sales?? Her comeback single for this new era barely charted at #81 on billboard and the label hasn’t sent it to radio.
Now that interview with people magazine was done like a month or two before her single came out but wasn’t posted until today because Bacardi just announced their partnership with her so I’m guessing when they did the interview they were anticipating her single to do a lot better than what it did which is why they mentioned her touring
So much invested in this damn song. They couldn’t get Ryan Tedder to write for her instead!!?!? I don’t get it!!!!!!!!!
