Danish landscape architect C. Th. Sørensen (July 24, 1893 - 1979) was renowned internationally for his parks and garden designs. Here is one of his most original ideas - the allotment garden complex, The Oval Gardens in Nærum, near Copenhagen (1948-52).
Sørensen’s idea was simply that:
“Neighbors are always quarreling about the shared hedge between their houses. How to cut it? How tall should it be? Here they each get a complete hedge of their own with a no-man’s-land between them. Then they don’t have to quarrel anymore!”
The photo above is from 2022 and one can see how the allotments are used as vegetable gardens by some and for pure summer pleasure use by others. The houses are tiny and not meant for full-time occupation.

What do we think of extra Scrooge’s youth chapters? Because i really really really like em. Surely someone has made like a whole list and timeline. Like something like this.
Does this order make sense? Because like First adventure is a direct prelude to Last of Clan McDuck, and i havent read Dragon of Glasgow but i assume it’s either this or it takes place during Last of Clan McDuck. If no one knows of something like this existing I’d like to try. It will sadly enough be based on Rosa at first though… After that we will do the rest of the multiverse i promise.
And please tell what you think of extra Life and times chapters not made by Rosa. Like the Midthun/Løkling/Nærum Christmas stories or heck, even Fantomius references. All opinions are welcome

I'm curious, who would you say is your favorite duck comic writer?
hummmm. good question! i mean, my instinct is to say Don Rosa which is yknow generic answer but he did do some very good work. though i think his attention to detail in backgrounds/nature shots is my favorite thing about his stuff
it's difficult to pick favorite writers cuz my favorite characters aren't often written by the same writers more than once. i really enjoy Vito Stabile's work and i appreciate that he includes Dickie in stories
i really loved Christmas On Wheels so props to Knut Nærum, and i think King of the Klondike is one of the best Goldie comics ever so id love it if Marco Gervasio wrote some more stories with Goldie in them
hmmmmm. OH! Teresa Radice! she did both Pride & Prejudice and Ducks on the Road, i think it's obvious that she and her husband Stefano Turconi work really well together. I don't know if I'd love her writing without her husband's artwork but i think Ducks on the Road is a really fun original story and i'd love to see more like it

The round gardens
Garden in Nærum, Denmark
Address: Nærumgårdsvej 73, 2850 Nærum, Denmark
The Round Gardens Denmark – The oval gardens of Naerum are made up of 40 allotment gardens designed by Carl Theodor Sørensen, one of Denmark’s greatest landscape architects.
In the mid-20th century, near Copenhagen, architect Carl Theodor Sørensen devised a community with plots without right angles. Today it’s a tourist phenomenon.
They call them circular gardens, but they are actually community gardens with a characteristic oval shape. Seen from the air, they look like a strange collection of beaded necklaces scattered on a green mat. They are in Naerum, on the northern outskirts of Copenhagen
This corner of the dormitory town of Rudersdal can be reached in just half an hour from the center of Copenhagen, either by bus or train. Also by bicycle.

Voldborg

The Nærum suburban district of Copenhagen, in Denmark, home to one of the most singular appealing allotment gardens in the world – the ‘round gardens’, which are actually oval.
Although allotment gardens — or community gardens for growing fruits and vegetables — are found in countries all over the world, Denmark takes special pride in dating the phenomenon within its borders back to the mid-1600s, when small gardens were planted outside the fortress walls of Fredericia. The first modern allotment gardens in the country were created in 1821 near Aabenraa, gardens that are extant and protected by conservation laws. Also protected, but raising practical allotment gardens to the level of garden art, are the Nærum Allotment Gardens north of Copenhagen laid out by Carl Theodor Sørensen (1893–1979) in 1948.
Inspired by the courts of Renaissance and baroque buildings, as well as the writings of German landscape architect Leberecht Migge, who asserted that rolling terrain asks for curving lines while flat land prefers right angles, Sørensen used ovals to define the enclosures of forty allotments spread across the rolling lawn of a common green situated between public housing on one side and more traditional allotments on the other. (The ovals earned the project the Danish label de runde haver—the round gardens.) His initial plan, a regular grid of ovals spread across the site, gave way to a looser arrangement in which the ovals were laid across the curves of the slopes, resulting in a variety of vistas across the gardens and a dynamic flow through the interstitial spaces between the gardens.
Once Sørensen laid out the gardens, he prepared a seven-page booklet with guidelines and advice for the gardeners. Although each oval (technically an ellipse in geometric terms, laid out by two stakes and a long piece of string) was approximately 50 feet (15 meters) wide and 80 feet (24.3 meters) long—in the proportion of the Renaissance golden section—the individual gardeners were free to position their cottages, select the hedges, and lay out the interiors. In regard to the last, Sørensen provided four options to help the gardeners, but he stressed that his advice was a guide, not a directive. Even with such liberties embedded in the design, the gardens have some consistencies, particularly a preference for clipped over unclipped hedges, which make them a symbol of pride as well as history.
