You asked for an AU, here’s one co-written by @mythorhuman and @cancerian-woman.

Eight-year old Hope is filled with great sorrow upon learning that her mentor Ms. Bennett has quit her job at the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted to open a dance school in Paris. What is a distressed child to do? Run away to France, of course.

Bonnie turned away from the drivers at the airport and headed to a dark corner. She felt the shadow follow her and used her magic to reveal the small child once they were away from prying eyes.

"You're in big trouble, little girl," scolded Bonnie with her hands on her hips. The tiny redhead widened her eyes at being caught. Hope believed she could tag along without being noticed.

"How did you know I was there?" questioned the Mikaelson daughter. "I used a cloaking spell."

Bonnie took note of Hope's nervous fidgeting and sent her a small smile. "I would know my favorite student anywhere."

Hope grinned, and her fears immediately lifted. Ms. Bennett didn't hate her for running away. She knew her heart would break at being rejected. "You're my favorite teacher, and I couldn't stay at the school without you!"

"Hope, you need to be in school to learn."

Hope rebutted, "I had my best grades in your class, and you always helped me study for the others."

"The school is probably in a panic trying to find you," argued Bonnie. A missing student would cause unprecedented chaos. A Mikaelson child going missing would be a nightmare to deal with.

"We both know they haven't noticed my absence yet. It's a weekend."

"Hope, you didn't have to follow me all the way to Paris. We could have always kept in touch."

Hope stared down at her shoes shyly. "Ms. Bennett, the school would be so lonely without you, and I want to join your dance academy."

"I'm not your teacher anymore, so you can call me Bonnie."

Hope beamed up at Bonnie, knowing that she'd rather call her mom. "You can still be my dance teacher, Bonnie."

Anticipating the upcoming stress of dealing with the Originals, Bonnie gave her former student a stern look. "Your parents wanted you at the Salvatore Boarding School. I'm going to call the old number I have for your father, and hopefully he answers."

Are you still planning on exploring this AU? As a new fan of your writing (love lies update???), I'm super excited to read "dear little witch" whenever you decide to publish the fic.

hi! I’ve been better but i hope you’re having a good day too!

I haven’t given up on anything. I know it looks that way with being silent but I’ve been figuring out some things. I’m on bed rest for a while so I can finish fics. I’m glad you enjoyed Hazel. I will say this and hope it’s perceived well and clear that Hazel is NOT Hope. Hope was shy and sort of timid at seven, Hazel isn’t anything like that. I also restarted the fic once not enjoying the direction I was originally in so that did hold things up.—most likely August or sometime in the end of the year. I want to be able to update continuously and not leave.

Love Lies will be updated in July! I want to get back to consistently doing updates rather than leaving after a while. I can say I planned at least 15 chapters for that one.

Being dead was almost preferable. At least, being a ghost was a valid excuse for your friends to disregard your presence. Being Bonnie Bennett meant saving your friends and allies despite them ignoring your thoughts, opinions, or feelings. It meant prioritizing their lives over your own on a regular basis. It meant being a hero and getting no gratitude in return. And Bonnie Bennett couldn't do any of that as a ghost. She couldn’t even do magic as the anchor, a position her predecessor desperately wanted to abandon in favor of death. So yeah, she's fucked.

A snippet of my modern Edwina-fic (upcoming!)

Edwina was beginning to think she was insane. Yes, she has to be, and she must have a penchant for self-flagellation.

They were perfect for one another. He looked at Kate as if she hung the star and moon in the skies, and she smiled for him in a way she had not since their appa’s car accident.

And she was the maid of honour, just as it should be. They were sisters. Kate and Edwina. Edwina and Kate.

She smiled, kissed her sister, danced in her pink lengha and sari, participated in the haldi and threw flowers as the bride and groom went to their car.

She needed to leave. She just needed to go away and be somewhere else. Not London. Not even England.

God, she was fucked. Her grandparents were old-fashioned, judgemental and conservative. They would be the last people her mother and sister would suspect of, but desperate times.

She followed the butler into Woodhall, where her grandmother was reading, and her grandfather came in from his study.

“Edwina. What an unexpected pleasure.” Her grandfather said, "I assumed you would be with the Bridgertons at Aubrey Hall by now?"

"No," Edwina said, "I, um, need help. I know we have not seen eye to eye a lot of the time, but I really need I need money. To go.”

“Go where?”

“Anywhere. Just for a while.” Edwina said, "I've found I have little clue of what I wish to do, and I was thinking of travelling for a while without my mama or sister. Doing something different."

“Well, there is the cottage in Chantilly. We host the annual charity party there." Her grandmother said, "If you are serious about doing something different - or rather, what you should have done. I did say that studying Literature was not what ladies did."

She tried not to roll her eyes, “Perfect!” Edwina quickly agreed. "Whatever you need."

Robert looked at Elizabeth, who nodded, "Well then. It's settled." He said, "

So she was going to France for a few months. She was twenty-three, and she did not need to tell anyone. She still wrote notes for her mother and sister, leaving them on the small table near her front door, looking at her flat for the last time in a while.

in the originals 1x20 klaus mentions making a phone call to a "reluctant bennett witch in mystic falls" so hooray for klonnie crumbs

Happy stuff about OTH? I love how Brooke is everyone's best friend. Being Peyton's bestie taught her a lot about the ups and downs of life and how to be there when people are going through things. *Side note: I always think of that song "For Good" from Wicked when I think of Breyton's friendship.

I love that Brooke is everyone's best friend! I think it's perfect, because Brooke has always just wanted to be enough, and it's just proof that she is. She's so loved because she's warm and funny and charming and creative. She has this big heart that she used to be Peyton's person for so long, and I'm glad that she got to have Haley, Lucas, Mouth, Rachel, Julian, etc all get to learn that and know how important she is. I think it's so telling and perfect that the main Breyton story arc is them trying to figure out how to not lose the other and being messy because they're just two kids who stuck together to raise each other. There's a reason their messes get so big and hurt so much, because they have barely any parental guidance.

Where You Belong (Runaway Hope AU) Pt.2

To Bonnie’s surprise, she chickened out. Bonnie knew that she was not a coward, but she couldn’t bring herself to dial the old number she had for Klaus. She did NOT want to hear the laughter in his hypnotically smooth voice. It was seductive, and she did NOT need to be distracted as he inevitably taunted her for accidentally kidnapping his child. 

Maybe it was her social anxiety kicking in. It was easier to pretend to be more extroverted in her life before vampires. She was a former cheerleader, so being in crowds didn’t scare her. However, constantly being in danger did kill her social skills. Who even talks on the phone anymore? A text will do.

  That man was ridiculous and had Bonnie aching to pull her hair out. Oh, how he knew the best ways to push all her buttons. She didn’t even send him her address but knew Klaus would find her. Her fingers fidgeted with nerves. It had been some time since she last faced an Original. Since then, she’s kicked the devil’s ass and stomped out hellfire. It wasn’t his physical strength that scared her. Bonnie was more concerned about the impact seeing Klaus would have on Hope.

Bonnie truly adored the youngest Mikaelson in the family, and she hoped that Klaus knew she would never harm a child. She was fully aware of his paranoia regarding threats to his family. The girl hadn’t seen her family in some time. Was Klaus showing up just to abandon her for the best? Bonnie didn’t think so.

She knew Hope would be excited to see her father. The disappointment from the child and parent parting again would crush Hope’s soul. All she could do was spend the rest of the day distracting Hope. When Bonnie first told Hope she would contact her father, the girl looked slightly distressed as she anticipated a lecture from her dad. Aware of their shared love for art, Bonnie planned to drag Hope to a museum before dinner, and then they could practice a little ballet before bed.

Hours in the early morning, Bonnie heard repeated knocks on her door. It was dawn, and some stranger seemed determined to get her attention. The Bennett witch hopped out of bed in her lilac satin nightgown with lace trim and reached for the matching robe. She rushed to the door with determination to end the knocking before Hope awakened. Bonnie pulled open the door to discover that it was NOT a stranger.

“What the hell, Klaus?” Bonnie asked with a dramatic eye roll. She was holding back the urge to slam the door in his face.

Klaus eyed her in the short nightgown before answering. “Hello, my little witch. My, have you grown, and yet it almost looks like you’ve barely aged.”

Bonnie wrapped the robe she was carrying around herself. She hated that she didn’t hate his stare and the way his eyes admired her body. “Dying over and over again is the best anti-aging solution out there. That and magic.”

“On to important things, where is my daughter?” Klaus shifted from playful to stern as he looked behind Bonnie. There was a coldness in his glare as he barged into Bonnie’s living room with the intent of finding his daughter.

“She is upstairs in my guest bedroom. Hope has my ancestor’s talisman around her neck that should protect her from the Hollow long enough for you to bring her back to school.”

The hybrid sighed in disbelief at the ludicrous nature of this situation. His child had run from the Salvatore Boarding School, and the only teacher to contact him about Hope being gone was across the ocean. “That school clearly isn’t capable of watching her. You know, Hope has written to me about you and your impact on her life.” There had to be another boarding school more qualified to care for Hope.

“Oh yeah? Did you write back?” With an arched brow, Bonnie couldn’t help but voice how unimpressed she was by Klaus’ lack of communication with Hope.

Didn’t the Bennett witch know all about doing things for the betterment of others? Not speaking with Hope hurt him as much as it pained his daughter. “Limited contact was for the best.”

“Hope needs her parents. She needs her family and not to be sent to a boarding school where she feels like an outcast.”

“Thank you for caring for my daughter, Ms. Bennett, but you are not her parent.”

“Maybe I should be,” Bonnie challenged with her hands on her hips. Both Klaus and Bonnie turned at the sound of little feet scampering towards them.

“Daddy!” the redhead child appeared at the top of the stairs. She rushed down each step and launched herself into her father’s arms. Finally, everything felt right to Hope. She had her two favorite people in the world with her. It felt like home. A part of Hope longed for the three of them to be a family.

Hi! I would love to hear why you think Klaus and Bonnie would be a compatible or at least fascinating match :) I can tell you're going to turn me into a Klonnie shipper even though the last thing I need in my life is another doomed OTP!!

Hey :D I love a good doomed ship it makes the fandom more interesting especially in terms of creativity tbh.

Bonnie had proven herself to be just as morally corrupt as other characters as needed. Sure, it wasn’t to the extreme of others but it existed especially if her friends were threatened. That type of loyalty and strength would be what Klaus would like because of how possessive and selfish he is.

There’s Bennett-Mikaelson connections through the lore of TVD. Ayana was Esther’s mentor. Abby entombed Mikael. Then in present there’s Esther prasing Bonnie for being the one to fight Klaus. Elijah recruited Bonnie to do it. Both Bonnie and Klaus have parental struggles on both sides. Klaus is more forefront than Bonnie’s but it exists. Tagging my friends content here :).

Klaus was introduced with an affinity for witches (Gloria, Maddox, Greta..)it was just dropped after well you know ;). But in a sibling light I could see both Rebekah and Kol taking a liking to Bonnie. Rebekah wanted that normal highschool experience and Kol was formerly a witch. We got a little bit of Kennett moments in s4 but that was dropped. Bonnie is the only TVD character to never have her own side friend out the group.

Narratively TVD would’ve just had to work with their few key points to make Klonnie a slow burn ship from s2-4 tbh. Bonnie kept getting the short-stick. Season 3 she got cheated on, her mother abandoned again, she had all the reasons to distant herself from her friends and end up in someone’s darker arms. The Mikaelson Ball ep Esther is leeching off Bonnie and her bloodline yet Bonnie is no where to be found… huh… Bonnie doesn’t get enough in universe credit for her actions because she has not only nearly killed Klaus she has saved his life(and everyone else’s.)

Season 4 Bonnie was dipping into a darker side with Expression and she blindly trusted Shane just to learn magic. It would be another moment for Klaus to try and get in her good graces. Klaus would have to open up emotionally for Bonnie to sympathize with him. I think they would challenge each other. Bonnie is one of the female characters who can fight back to people who are trying to harm her in a way Elena or Caroline can’t tbh.

Bonnie wasn’t just any witch either she was a Bennett which her family is responsible for nearly everything in TVD. I don’t think Klaus would’ve suddenly became a “Disney prince” type of BF by any means but I could see the relationship working. Klaus is still an elitist bastard with years of knowledge Bonnie would want. Bonnie is willing to give that loyalty to anyone who is good to her. Cami is seen as good and she even falls for Klaus lmao.

Last point people only play morality clauses with Bonnie because the series does. By the end of TVD Bonnie considers Damon not Elena or Caroline or Matt her bestfriend. That should say enough about what Bonnie would allow but….The writers and fans will argue that Bonnie doesn’t deserve to be paired up with toxic men or women but TVD never introduced anyone that was “morally good” by our world standards. Even Enzo physically harmed Bonnie pre-relationship. The other leads are white and never held to the same standards. Elena said it was Stefan until it wasn’t. Caroline said no to Klaus until she didn’t. Hayley’s arc includes with her fucking Klaus and dating Elijah… the list could continue.

@mythorhuman the difference is obvious his love interest was bonnie and people love to moral police her character out of things even though all the dudes was no better then kai despite what the narrative in writing tries to claim and kai wasn't a born sociopath his coven wouldn't let him touch anyone growing up and they mentally abused him and called him abomination the Gemini coven has history of abusing their children if they was siphoners honestly that whole coven is abusive with this whole merge thing

Julie plec really created a narrative kai was worse then all the dudes because she didn't like he was set up romantically interested in bonnie and wanted a excuse to get rid of Elena plec and co wasn't that involved in the beginning stages of kai character and s6 of tvd that's why it was written so differently

Bonkai is not that different from ships like D.elena and Kl.aroline yet Bonnie stans have to hear “you must HATE Bonnie to ship her with that man”, but y’all don’t hate Elena when you ship her with the man that killed her brother because she didn’t reciprocate his feelings for her? Y’all don’t hate Caroline when you ship her with the man that stabbed her with a lamp because she didn’t want to leave her boyfriend for him?

The only difference between Bonkai and DE/KC is that Bonnie had a negative reaction to Kai’s treatment of her. You’d think that would be a good thing give how dehumanizing TVDs treatment of Bonnie was but it really was just another way to excuse them from giving Bonnie the same things the other girls got romance wise. Caroline and Elena got their toxic sexy dark romances with the villain of the season who spewed declarations of epic love and showered them in gifts but Bonnie doesn’t even get to have a reaction to Kai heavily flirting before the stabbing incident. Caroline and Elena get to live in their delusional fantasies about making their evil boyfriends better people while Bonnie has to stand on business and take Kai down.

Now do I think that Caroline and Elena should’ve been able to whack Klaus and Damon for the torment they endured by those men? Absolutely! All three of those girls were getting used and abused by the men in the show yet Bonnie was the only one that doesn’t get to take part in the more “fun” and “sexy” parts of the whole dark romance thing.

I didn’t know that Plec didn’t create Kai though! Bonkai had much more of a foundation than Bon.enzo
