So I went to a writer's conference with some friends and several of us wanted to go to this panel called "The 5 Questions You Need to Create a Full Character" but we all ended up elsewhere so when we got back to the airbnb, I said we should all write down what we thought the questions were.

I took it very literally and wrote things like "What is their greatest fear?" And "what do they value in others?"

While one of my friends took the comedic route and ended up with 5 EXCELLENT questions

1. What is your problem?

2. How dare you?

3. Who do you think you are?

4. What gives you the right?

5. How do you sleep at night?

A thing I knew: the hormone relaxin is greatly increased during menstruating, which loosens muscles, tendons and ligaments. While this serves to increase pelvic flexibility, to allow birth to go more smoothly, it has the additional result of increasing the chance of injury to joints and so on, as they're not as strong as during the rest of the month. Basically, all the tendons and ligaments are looser for a few days, not just the ones whose additional flexibility would help the body survive labor.

A thing I did not extrapolate from this knowledge: This is also true of the ligaments that hold my teeth into my skull.

Holy wow, my teeth--still pretty new to braces--are moving QUICKLY this week.

I made the cutest Christmas gift for my aunt this year

It's little Christmas ornaments of her cats, who have by now both passed away sadly. Nero, the thin one, was quite sick and passed shortly before Christmas last year, Noir, his brother, passed away about a month ago. My aunt got their silhouette tattooed while they were both still alive ❤️ They came to her from a family with small kids which clashed horribly with the cats, so they became very defensive of their boundaries. It took some time, but they became very affectionate again once they realised that my aunt and cousin respected their boundaries. They were both quite old and sick by the end, so it's nice to know that they had some very nice years with my aunt still, and also that they'll live on with her - and now also on their Christmas tree ❤️

So today, I dug a grave and buried my cat, and then I spent the rest of the day gaming instead of doing anything I *should* have done.

I mean, I'm grieving, so I know I should give myself some grace but. It super sucks to know I'm allowed to take time to process (or just disengage with reality for a while) and STILL feel guilty. Like. WTF brain.

if I could give you a blessing today it would be the one I received--my doctor moved to a new practice and I had the choice of following him or staying. He's a good doctor, and it's hard to find Filipino doctors where I am, but the phlebotomist at the old practice was the best I have ever encountered, she is a fucking wizard, so it took me a couple of months to decide to follow him. I knew that every bloodwork appointment from here on out would be a rage-inducing fishing expedition.

I got bloodwork done today for the first time at the new practice, and my doctor has stolen the phlebotomist! She followed him! She kept it under her hat when I asked her about it at the old place--I guess maybe the bosses couldn't know, or maybe she was still deciding.

So if I were going to send you good luck today, I'd send you the unexpected removal of trials, and the unanticipated delight of seeing a familiar and comforting face.
