Yesterday at dusk, the sky turned orange behind LB, who was out for an early evening graze.

When you own a Hollywood Dun It line quarter horse...every ride is a therapy session...for them anyway lol Almost every single Dun It I know is like this; too many feelings for such small horses.

Kin been a great horse for me to learn with, though. He's the maximum combo of smart and emotional, which usually translates to "Hi, I'm going to be extremely dramatic and finnicky about how I process what you just told me to do but also I'll learn it 3 seconds flat and then can apply it to anything else." which makes him look ditzy as heck.

He'll do anything for you if the rider can successfully help him manage his Big Feelings.

her name is tormenta (storm in spanish) and I’ve had her since my play through of botw. she’s now one of my main horses that I ride around with in totk! absolutely baby 🥺 she also mainly wears the monster saddle and the travellers bridle, and has the mohawk mane :)

You know, we talk about horses being these big majestic creatures; and they are. They're also sometimes really dumb and uncoordinated. Sometimes afraid of the smallest things. Sometimes oblivious to their own size and so very dangerous

And sometimes...

... mine tunes her movements so carefully to mine that it's like we're dancing without any words said. She always knows where I'm at and keeps me in the safest place, even though I am so small compared to her. Yesterday, she would pause her steps as I did, almost hovering in place to make sure she stayed with me

And I think such a big animal being so very careful with me is why I will be in awe of the relationship we can have with horses

It was Alecto’s ninth birthday yesterday and I threw her a birthday party complete with cake and a birthday hat. She is the best girl.

Minnesota just got about a foot of snow so my tiny 14.3 hand quarter horse had to plow his way through snow drifts that are as tall as his little legs are long. If they got deeper than that he would stop and dig to find a shallower path.

He loves it.
