Went to a museum today and one of the exhibits was all art from woman identifying artists spanning 140 years. A lot of the focus was how woman identifying artists are severely underrepresented in museums and gallery’s and exhibits and it was just so good 🥹 there was one piece that just hit something in me and I sat with it for a good few minutes and ugh I just love art

I decided to somewhat document my first attempt at linocut! I wanted to try a new hobby and decided this was a fairly inexpensive one. Here are the supplies I got from my local Michael's. The kit includes a linoleum block, carving tool, a tube of ink, and a roller.

The plan is to make Christmas cards using this method. So without further ado, he's my initial sketch.

I realized this was too big to fit on my block, so I had to revise it a bit.

My next step was tracing it onto transfer paper then tracing the opposite side so that it would eventually face the way I wanted on the cards. I taped it down so the paper wouldn't move on me and had to carefully remove the tape when finished

I accidentally transferred the wrong side of the image the first attempt, but luckily I could just flip the block over and transfer the correct facing image. Here's the incorrect facing side

Next I retraced the image using a ballpoint pen

I'm hoping to start carving sometime before December to give myself enough time to print the cards, write in them, address the envelopes and get them in the mail.

Today we had our opposition (opponering in swedish) on our papper. 😊So thats done and on sunday I will turn my papper in and then I am ready for the graduation next week. 🎊🎉🎓🥂✨

After I looked at the porch and rinsed of pollen. Now its lunchtime and then a long walk in the forest. ☀️🌿
