One thing i particularly enjoy about souvenir pop is 80s sound which i also talked about concerning Stephanie. I hear it in lips and mesto duhov aswell, these have an almost post-punk like sound (and Stephanie sounds more new wave to me). And i THOROUGHLY enjoy this. I think it was Nace who mentioned that he really enjoyed the synth-y 80s sounds and that they were playing around with that and i am SO very thankful for that i am LIVING.
#it is probably present in other songs too but i have only listened to them once so far so i cannot remember for sure#but i am absolutely living for naces influence on their music#now for the next album please bring me an oingo boingo or talking heads vibe and i will die👍🏻#or! give me metal#my two favorite genres are (power) metal and post-punk/new wave#so you must understand my excitement here#joker out

...i think my basis for what i consider a "good" song is still showtunes
#my post#HELP#this is bcus showtunes go hard. of course#no but my friend really likes punk/black metal/ whatever the genre is where its just guys screaming about blood#and sent me their favorite songs so im trying to get into it#and i was trying to figure out what it is about it that made me not initially like it right#and i realized i look for like 3 things in a song#ennunciation. pretty harmonies. storytelling.#AKA. SHOWTUNES.#LOL#i AM going to find a band that i like though. i will. yknow it took me a couple weeks to get used to tmg and tfb. im sure ill be listening#to this stuff regularly by christmas#i just have to get used to the fact that theyre screaming#no bcus the one songs lyrics fit gillion so well-#once i start blorboifying their music its all over

Hey would the 4 of you mind rating these songs from 1-10? With 1 being the worst and 10 being the best. Because I wanna know what music you prefer.
(This all based solely off the preview that spotify is giving me)
The Coordinator: I am going to pretend I know how you made those noises with your mouth. In order it's 3, 7, 4, 7.
The Charmer: I think for me it's 6, 8, 3, and 5.
The Cartographer: I don't know? 1, 5, 4, 3?
The Curator: I don't know what you're all talking about that first song is an 8. And then 5, 5, 5.
#ask blog#ask the archivists#asks are open#the owl house#toh#id in alt text#toh the archivists#the archivists#toh oc#bro if you wanted to know their music preferences you could have just asked me specifically#Coordinator would like orchestral music disco and progressive rock or anything with really smooth high end production#Charmer enjoys songs about romance as long as they aren't overly corny and also songs about murder#with genre preferences for really bubble gummy pop old school country like Johnny Cash for instance#Cartographer just likes songs that are chill and no not slowed reverb songs but stuff like trip hop or some folk music#or other low tempo electronica like anthem by emancipator for reference#curator likes shit loud and brash and aggressive#she would enjoy nu metal punk heavy metal some post grunge pop punk horrorcore stuff like that#music to break shit to

You know what I love and find really silly about alternative subcultures (like Rock, Metal, Punk, Mods, Skinheads, Greasers, god knows who else).
A lot of us motherfuckers go into these subcultures and feel some sense like big tough shit because of it and start acting a bit like assholes.
"I don't listen to that sissy pop stuff" was one of the phrases that was uttered the MOST when I was younger as if Metal and Rock was the most masculine thing in the world. "Real men listen to rock, not that rap bullshit" was the next one and I'm just sitting here like if you really want to debate me about this we are idolizing guys with make-up, long ass hairs, tight leotards and overall looking "feminine" -- even though I don't believe that, that's what THEY believe.
Aren't we all kind of goofy? Adopting goofy fashion trends and odd music?? We gotta be real about ourselves here. We ARE Goofy, odd and weird. AND!! that's okay!! We don't gotta take ourselves that seriously, nor do we need to act all high and mighty about what our preferred music and style is. Also, who cares if you're tougher than that group? Who GIVES A SHIT?! WHO CAAAAAAAAARESSSS. Let people enjoy their pop stuff, let people delve into all that kind of media and let them live their life damn it. Even better, when they delve into YOUR world don't be a fucking dickwad about it! And if you are, accept the consequences and stop whining about society and shit. Get real!
Put a sock into your mouth and enjoy your music, enjoy your company, enjoy the culture -- and most important enjoy the fucking variety in the world you dimbag. Stop thinking you're the shit, get a grip.
#punk#the punk vampyre speaks#punk rock vampyre#punk rock#metal#rock#greasers#mods#metalheads#subcultures#youth culture#Alt subculture#Some of you guys have WAY too much ego and you need to pipe it the fuck down.#Some of you even hate genres because they're “poor people”'s music and culture and you don't even realize it#some of the hatred can even be racist!! (See how much people thought Hip hop was shit and something for people with 'less intelligence')#Some of you aren't as smart as you think you are just because you're in an alt subculture” LMAOOO GET FUCKING REAL!!

I don't know why exactly but that last post got me curious: Saw blogs, what music do you listen to? One of my favorite things about the franchise is the soundtrack so it feels appropiate to ask
#saw#saw movies#saw franchise#saw posting#sawposting#in case you're curious about my music taste i listen to mostly everything and i mean that i really do#but my favorite type of music is vocaloid music. lately i've been listening to a lot of goth hard rock and metal though#i also really like punk music. i like pop too but i don't listen to it as regularly#i'm also into genres like speedcore and breakcore especially if they're vocaloid#also my favorite metal subgenre is kawaii/idol metal#and i also listen to rnb rap and hip hop from time to time. i don't listen to a lot of acoustic music but sometimes i do#my favorite music artist is aurora i love her so much and every song she makes is just like me fr#anyway tell me what you like to listen to. saw has good music so i wanna know what saw fans listen to in their spare time#cat rambles

one thing about alt stuff is that the barrier to entry to being "goth" is truely so fucking low and yet people constantly limbo under the bar instead of stepping over it and wonder why they get called posers. like we're not asking you to move mountains here we're just asking you to find even one band under the umbrella that you like and to engage with the community a little bit. The fashion has truely so much overlap between goth punk and emo so very few people will care which one you call yourself based on your look and you just have to find a band you like. Dashboard Confessional screams a bit too much for your taste and Dead Kennedys is too loud? Guess what you're in luck the goths listen to something a little softer and weirder they call it dark wave or ethereal wave depending on the phases of the moon. Try out Clan of Xymox or Switchblade Symphony. Like truly the alt music scene is so fucking diverse there's gotta be something in here that you like. If not and you truly are a pop girlie then don't call yourself punk it's very easy.
#listen don't at me I do think that dark wave ethereal wave and new wave are all basically the same music genre#but I also don't think that emo isn't even a real music genre because it's all either punk pop punk or screamo#I don't like labels when they become entirely too niche to be helpful xoxo#the only music genres to me: Punk Metal Wave Industrial Electronica Pop Punk Screamo Grunge and Goth#and then the other ones which are rock hiphop folk country pop jazz soul blues R&B ska and classical but those r less relevant here#don't make it more complicated than that it doesn't need to be#this is not contradictory with the scene being diverse btw Mitski and Kesha are both considered pop yet their music is distinct#so too two punk bands are allowed to sound different and both be punk without a whole new genre getting made up

The metal community might be annoying as fuck but AT LEAST they managed to keep the subculture universally about music instead of becoming a fashion style. Relentless gatekeeping might actually be good for something
#The same cannot be said for so many other genres#Punk#Emo#Goth#Just to name a few#My controversial opinion is that Some gatekeeping is actually good for music subcultures#To avoid them being overcommercialized and dying out#Nobody in their right mind would call someone a metalhead if they arent interested in metal music#Now do the same for goth pleaaaasseeeee#Metal

idk if goth existed as a literature and film genre before it was a music subculture (that was heavily influenced by said literature and films) then maybe goth is more than a music subculture
#txt#goth is better described as an art movement than music subculture#in my honest and educated onion#the ‘goth is a music subculture ONLY’ arguments are so fucking tiring#i agree w that argument when it comes to metal and punk but GOTH?? goth is so layered#i cant be the only one that believes this honestly?? i cant be pls#idk if someone listened to all the goth bands you consider valid enough to get in the club. but they dont engage in any other part of goth..#would you call them goth??#my roommate listens to metal. i wouldnt call him a ‘metalhead’#idk even in music subcultures i feel like Just listening to the genre isn’t enough to BE in the subculture…#just thinking out loud dont mind me
