i wrote this post two months ago, but i was thinking about how much i love music on accident again and now i'm going to make an incredibly self-indulgent and unwarranted post on music i think that krew+opal in a modern au would enjoy based on music i like.

opal would definitely love lamp and other j-indie bossa-nova/jazz/folk sounding types — ichiko aoba/kaneko ayano/fishmans/nujabes come to mind. she also gives sweet trip/panchiko and adrianne lenker. she'd possibly like norah jones/jolie holland in a different sphere. i think she'd be into more experimental flavor of black country, new road/black midi/kero kero bonito. she'd like the city-pop in anri and j-pop like aimyon.

asami also seems like she would like lamp, though to a lesser extent than opal, and probably romantic-era classical music (specifically, chopin). she'd be a slowcore duster/bedhead/mazzy star type, and probably love dream-pop beach house too. she'd be a secret fan of jazz-punk/noise midori and in japanese shoegaze-alternative flavor with plastic girl in the closet/kinokoteikoku/my dead girlfriend, and i can see her being into either nick drake or psychedelic rock — something mildly high, probably. i can see her liking suzanne vega/fiona apple/aimee mann a lot too. i think that between her and opal, they'd have the most music-nerd music taste. idk how to express it… that rym sort of music taste haha

mako is either the type to say "i don't listen to music", or if he does, he gives straight face while listening to crunchy noise and ambient deeply miserable-edgy, like nouns/teen suicide/have a nice life. he'd enjoy high quality japanese jazz-instrumental math rock like mouse on keys/fox capture plan/t-square, but i think he'd also have a guilty pleasure for the mildly-adjacent, crappy midwest emo. not sure why, maybe it's the album covers and names, but he really gives parannoul. he has the energy of a british new-wave the smiths/radiohead/the cure kind of guy. he's probably prone to get too deep in his feelings in sujfan stevens/giles corey. i think like opal, he'd enjoy big thief/adrianne lenker a lot too.

korra would like pop-punk and alternative a lot and also rnb, maybe korean rnb like jiwoo/miso. but she'd love pup/paramore/sorority noise a lot and i think she'd also be fan of jazz-punk/noise sound in midori, and also accidentally nu-metal loathe/tool/slipknot. i feel like she'd really like the synthpop in magdalena bay and she too would vibe to anri a lot. i think she'd be a fan of emo in unconcentrated forms only (specifically los campesinos!), or maybe also power pop. i could imagine her enjoying certain flavors of breakcore and electronic and for some reason i see her liking nirvana/red hot chilli peppers/the smashing pumpkins. all in all, mostly anything that's more upbeat and has energy to it. she'd probably be a mitski listener at certain times too, in all honesty.

bolin's more pop/rock and probably some alternative, though i think he'd lean more towards ok go/cracker/camper van beethoven/modest mouse. i can also see him liking vampire weekend/the postal services/death cab for cuties a lot. i feel like he would secretly enjoy mako's british-new-wave flavor but refuse to admit it to the general populace because he is an independent man! he also gives they might be giants/jukebox the ghost/ben folds five fan, aka sounds-like-children's-music-but-is-kinda-messed-up piano-rock-esque (it epitomizes him), and upbeat neo-psychedelia animal collective is just very bolin. i also see him casually enjoying the shins and the 1975.

i think that among them, there'd be a mutual enjoyment of lamp (most of all opal/asami/mako in that order) and mitski (with bolin being the only outlier in the mitski department lol). i think that if they were ever put in a car together they would never not play there is a light that never goes out and that they'd all be a fan of any music involving car crashes actually. i can't really imagine any of them outside of opal liking folk or any of them outside of korra liking any form of metal and i don't see any hyperpop in their energy sorry lol. only asami and mako seem like they would really like instrumental stuff, though different spheres of it. actually i think the two of them would overlap the most in music taste for some reason (with opal in the same arena), even if the examples i provided don't have a lot of overlap lol, followed by korra and bolin.

Avatar Legends TTRPG Start Set - Burning Fuse

Some info from the Burning Fuse adventure from the starter set:

"In the wake of the Earth Empire's thwarted siege, Republic City is struggling to rebuild and heal the scars of war. The inventor Juniper Kim once worked for the Earth Empire, but now she develops peacetime uses for Earth Empire weaponry and tech. Early yesterday morning, Juniper discovered the spirit energy canisters and weapons were missing from her lab. In the wrong hands, the canisters and weapons can be deadly, and to make matters worse, many of the canisters have the potential to cause a devasting explosion! Juniper called her friend Asami Sato to help deal with the press flooding the scene ... Can the companions recover the canisters before Republic City's fresh wounds open once more?"

"Asami met Juniper when she sought funding for a lab in Republic City. Asami saw that Juniper's willingness to make up for past misdeeds were genuine and the two became friends. When approached to help disarm the devices from Kuvira's mech, Asami put Juniper up for the job instead.."

The equalists are back with their new leader Yoshiro who has a prosthetic legs that were created by modifying Hiroshi Sato’s mecha tank designs. The equalists numbers have increased since Kuvira's attack on the city.

Another character in the adventure is Detective Jiang: a middle aged airbender cop who lost his husband and children during Kuvira's siege. He got airbending after Harmonic Convergence and tried studying at the Air Temple Island but he soon departed due to his temperament.

"The Peace Lily Society is a group of students and philosophers who formed after Kuvira's attack on the city. They oppose the user of technology and weapons invented through the oppression of the Earth Kingdom's people. The group is led by a former university lecturer named Metog, and they have been expanding their rhetoric to speak out against the dangers of spirit energy and Earth Empire technology."

The Auspicious Bear is a restaurant where students clubs meet - including the Peace Lilies. Supposedly, has an authentic statue of Bosco the bear.

The Lucky Cranefish Gambling House is "well-regarded as a place to see and be seen by some of the shadier citizens of Republic City and rebellious socialites alike." It has "something for everyone: gambling tables for high rollers and thrillseekers, fine dining (with separate booths), and even live music and dancing."

Director's cut for Laws of Physics pls??

*Cracks knuckles* I'm finally getting to this. Every time I started typing this, I'd get overwhelmed but just how much I have to say and by this point, I've been putting it off for way too long.

It all started because of the Avatar Sunken Ships Week 2021 event that prompted me to write a modern AU. Before this, I had honestly never considered it mostly because I'd grown tired of the amount of modernization we see in books and media today. There's always a text conversation or internet stalking and somewhere, the appeal of the Avatar universe had to be the absence of these things. So when a modern AU was kinda thrust on me, I decided to have fun with it, until I realized, it was thoroughly self-indulgent and it way more fun than I imagined.

At the time, I was in grad school, in love with one of my professors- but obviously, nothing could happen there. As a kid, when in school, I was sooo nosy about my teachers' personal lives. Taking both those two aspect of me together, I decided to go with a university setup- that way I'm only writing adults- I don't think I care to write kids- no offense to anyone.

So, coming to Laws of Physics I thoroughly enjoyed writing it. Clearly, I had a lot more to write and establish in the very first chapter, but I ended up speeding through the foundation and gave it my best. Most of the comments I received implored me to consider writing another chapter to it. And while I often get comments like that, I learnt that not all fics should get a second chapter (wink, wink, nudge, nudge- if you know which one), however, some, like It's Time to Make Time did so well.

And then, one day I was in lab during a 10hr experiment and I had no music or anything to keep me occupied, so my brain travelled to Linumi land- more specifically, the outline to Laws of Physics. So, while I sat there, isolating cells from the very tissues I harvested, I decided Hiroshi Sato should be a part of this as Lin's ex and manifestation of daddy issues. That Asami and Mako could make a great background pair.

That I could have each and every single character from canon "play" whatever character I wanted them too- a fictionalized version of sorts of themselves.

The rest pretty much wrote itself. I wanted to spend more time on Bumi and Lin's relationship because that's where the fun is- the sneaking around and the drama. And because of this, I ended up writing Physical Laws too, a little prequel to my modern AU.

Without spoiling too much, so far, we have learnt some about both their pasts. Bumi used to be married, and Lin used to be in a relationship (another secret relationship) with a much older man with whom she almost had a baby with. Bumi has a very loving family and an adorable pet bunny, Bumju, while Lin, doesn't have a great relationship with her family. If I have Mako in the fic, he obviously has a big crush on Lin- it's not something I can help. Asami kinda joined the fic by herself, I never asked her to and then obviously Hiroshi's her dad so I was like omg DRAMA, get in here girlie. Would you like a Mako on the side?

Since it's Lin x Bumi, the fic often takes goofy turns and cooky romantics but that helps balance out the drama which as of now, isn't heavy, but may dip in that territory soon.

I look forward to getting out the whole story soon.

for starters my mbti is istj — i'm kinda of an introvert, moreover of a logical side person, can be quiet and a little too serious about everything (or call it slow if you'd like too lmao). usually i'm in my own world, listening to music or watching some movie since i'm very much passionate about both. i have a tomboyish look (?) and like to see myself as someone responsible and independent as well since i'm a older sister of two. i can come off as rude sometimes, not very much of a softie, making me also not a huge fan of physical affection. i am a little nerd about things i love and can go for hours when something of my enjoyment is mentioned. for physical aspects i'm 5'3, have very short brownish hair and for the eyes the same color but more caramel-like. i use glasses, absolutely despise bugs and i prefer savory than sweet food. i don't know how to deal much with people who are the opposite of me, whose more sensitive and emotional, but that's something i'm working hard on!

in order it would be: quality time, giving/receiving gifts, acts of service, words of affirmation and for the last one physical touch.

listening to music probably is my top one! but i also do enjoy a good walk in nature, taking a nap or watching a long movie (i might be a cinephile... i guess...) my favorite season is autumn, probably because i like the merge of cold and sunny weather together. i adore photography and really plan working with it someday! and if it doesn't work out i would like to become a first grade teacher since i'm somewhat good with kids.

probably something very cliché omg woah. however i would go with anything to be honest, a cinema date or a walk on the park, anything casual and not too extravagant.

as cliché as it is, you and asami are definitely "opposites attract" personified!

asami does seem to be more into physical touch, but after learning about your reluctance to it, she'd completely respect it and channel her love for you in other ways!

for example, she'd help around your shared apartment doing the household chores that aren't particularly your favorite. or you'd come home one day to find a little trinket that she knew you'd like sitting on your desk, wrapped in a cute bow that just so happens to be your favorite color!

using her connections, asami would help you with your passion for photography! whether it be buying you the hottest camera on the market or even putting in a good word for you to her friends/colleagues that work within the industry, she wants to see you go far.

it doesn't matter how long it takes, but asami would sit there with her full attention on you while you ramble to her about your interests! even if asami herself isn't completely in love with it as you are, she'd sit there patiently listening, as if it were the most important thing in the world. because anything that's important to you is equally as important to her <3

[VIDEO] Musical JAMIE: The Musical "JAMIE" is Now Available to Watch Online

With the double cast of Morisaki Win and Takahashi Fuu as Jamie New, both versions of the Musical "JAMIE" have been made available to watch online.

Both versions feature Sato Ryuji as Dean Paxton.

NOTE: On the broadcast day, Yabe Masaki (the W-cast for Dean) had been a close contact of someone who had tested COVID-19 positive. During this time, Ryuji took on the role as an emergency replacement. Because of this, Ryuji performed for five consecutive performances on three consecutive days without a break.

PERSONAL HIGHLIGHT

Dean Paxton is a classmate of Jamie who bullies Jamie for being gay and for wanting to be a drag queen. However, Ryuji puts his own spin on the role, bringing to life a Dean whose confidence and popularity hides a boy who is as conflicted and insecure as the Jamie he bullies. 

Even as he watches Jamie grow into his own, Dean finds himself being pushed to the fringes, and we watch as Dean’s shields crumble, leading to the final explosive but also incredibly sweet confrontation between him and Jamie. 

Ryuji’s Dean has a subtly different relationship with Win’s Jamie and Fuu’s Jamie, and an incredible chemistry with both of them.
